The Personal Thoughts of a Silicon Valley Child Psychiatrist
Like most people, I've spent most of my life thinking almost all of my personal thoughts on the inside of my head. That is to say, they wind up staying where they start. No one hears about them. Overall probably a good thing indeed. Nevertheless, as I've grown wiser (never older) it's occurred to me that I might have one or two useful bits to pass along. I've been lucky in that I've spent the last twenty years or so engaged in the practice of medicine which has allowed me ample opportunity to espouse my professional opinion. Doctors are well known for their opinions. And by that I mean OPINIONS and I am no less guilty than any other. Yet, here I am referring not so much to medical decision making, nor the sometimes complex and, by necessity, long-winded explanation of medical diagnosis or treatment recommendation. I am instead referring to that other sort of thinking. The private sort that we all carry with us. Perhaps, after working with so many parents and children in addition to raising my own three beautiful souls, I might have something other parents, or kids, or adult kids can use in their lives. Here on these pages I'll share some of what I've learned and what I am learning as I go along. Please ask me questions or comment on anything.
