I spoke with my therapist today and we agreed I’ve been experiencing a lot of thought broadcasting and ideas of reference lately. Here are some advice she gave me on the matter.
Use the phrases “I am not in danger” and “I am having a scary thought right now, and I am safe.”
Have a person you trust reality check you. Ask them if what you’re experiencing is really happening or if it might be a delusion.
Write down what you are thinking/experiencing. You will be able look back at this with a more grounded perspective.
Speaking of grounding, use grounding techniques. They’re a quick way to bring you back to your senses.
This is a very common symptom for people with my disorder. I don’t have to feel afraid, nor do I have to feel alone.
Regardless of if what you’re thinking is real or a delusion, the feelings you have while thinking them are real and valid.

Ideas of Reference?
"Ideas of reference and delusions of reference describe the phenomenon of an individual experiencing innocuous events or mere coincidences and believing they have strong personal significance. It is "the notion that everything one perceives in the world relates to one's own destiny", usually in a negative and hostile manner." -Wikipedia
And Jung introduced the theory of synchronicity, or "meaningful coincidences."
Hmm. Having experienced both, and as a magical practitioner, I say they are both valid. Some anti-psych folks do not like ideas of reference but its real and scary. And it is negative and hostile, whereas synchronicity usually isn't nearly as bad. It can be a negative meaningful coincidence.
Positive magical results are often explained as synchronicity. But are they meaningful coincidences? Is it chance? Luck? A dude in the sky who chooses your number? I believe magic is energy that you send that transforms. Its not just spiritual. Its physical too. I tend to gather my pent up energy and release it physically, to the universe by dancing and whirling, stomping, using my baston de muerto and rapping the floor, or whatever comes to me.
Now, don't have ideas or delusions of reference! Might get you locked up for a couple of weeks! There's pills for these too. Lol! 😂
I just had a random thought about ideas of reference and had no idea that Jung was attached to it, with his theory. Maybe I'm dumb. Haven't read much in that direction.
I once asked my shrink what he thought about psychiatrists doing therapy like they used to. He got angered! Never seen him get upset before, which meant he did not like the idea of psychiatrists doing therapy. I guess it was because it was too much time for little money. Lol!
