i'm realising i never posted this on my main so it'd be a good way to kick off this sideblog. this was my piece for the wolf 359 10th anniversary project run by commsroom & avesmonster, which you can find here. i think in retrospect there's a good few things i'd change about it but considering this is from... i suppose a good while ago now i dont mind it all too bad. :]
also; i have no fucking clue how the image quality will turn out.

The writers did a really clever thing with Aziraphale and Crowley's romance. In season 1, everything about their relationship is done through subtext. As an audience, we are quite used to queer relationships being done through subtext, so a lot of us probably thought 'oh, this is just the show's way of showing that they're in love without saying it explicitly.' The closest they come to communicating their feelings is mostly through very strong implication, rather than direct communication. For example, when Aziraphale gets discorporated, Crowley says "I lost my best friend." We can infer that he is talking about Aziraphale, who he thought was gone. But he doesn't say "You are the most important person in my life and I thought I lost you." He is just strongly implying it. Same with asking to run away together; again, we can assume from this action that Aziraphale is the most important person in Crowley's life, and he is asking him to go off together. But Crowley never actually *says* this. Because it's a TV show, we just assume that this is what he means. Crowley and Aziraphale express their love for each other entirely through actions, and not direct communication. Aziraphale, instead of threatening to kill Crowley, threatens that he will 'never talk to him again.' And Crowley figures out what to do because this is the worst thing that he can think of, not being able to talk to Aziraphale. As an audience, we watch this and marvel at how smart the writing is; it is so clear how much they love each other without even saying it. But that is just fiction. Real relationships cannot work without any direct communication. Real relationships can't rely entirely on subtext and coded language and communicating entirely through actions and not words. And that's when things fall apart. We see Crowley and Aziraphale make their very first steps towards direct communication in that last scene. Crowley says that he wants them to be an 'us.' He is still not able to quite use the exact words 'I love you' but he says that they are a team and a group and that they can rely on each other. Aziraphale tells Crowley that he needs him. And then Crowley kisses him. These are all huge steps towards direct communication, but they still aren't quite there yet. What is Aziraphale forgiving him for? What was Crowley trying to communicate through the kiss? They still aren't on the same page. They both see the other's actions as a rejection, when it isn't, it's more of a 'I love you but I won't compromise who I am to be with you.' Which is good and healthy, they shouldn't compromise who they are to be with each other. But they never communicate this. They are so used to figuring out what the other person is saying through subtext and coded language, that this is what they are doing in that last scene as well. This is why I adored the ending of season 2 even more than the ending of season 1. Because now, Aziraphale and Crowley are going to have to actually start talking to each other about real things. And the endgame relationship will be *so* much more beautiful for it.

good morning have you considered today:
john waking sherlock up with little kisses to his forehead and sing-songing sheerrlooock. oh shEEEERRRlock
sherlock swiping at him with a grumble because go ‘way m’sleep
john grinning unbearably wide because god he’s cute when he’s sleepy. it’s time to get up, sleepyhead
sherlock torn between tilting his face up into more of john’s kisses and hiding beneath the blanket, resulting in hiding most of his face beneath the blanket except for the place he likes john to kiss on his temple.
john kisses the proffered temple obligingly. sherlock. darling sweetheart goosey love. we have to get up and get moving so we can be on time for our appointment today.
one eye appears above the line of the sheet. appointment?
a kiss to the temple, to the eyebrow, to the eyelid of the watchful eye. big day today. but you have to get up to find out what it is.
two eyes, and a line above the bridge of his nose. a secret? but you’re terrible at secrets.
john laughs. the line above the bridge of sherlock’s nose gets a kiss too. but mycroft is very good at secrets, so mycroft did the arranging for me. i just found out this morning too, but we’ve an appointment to meet someone very special i think.
sherlock’s mouth rises above the sheet to grimace and sour at him. you asked mycroft for a favour? john. you know better.
this was worth it, john says, and he kisses a smile into the curve of sherlock’s lips. i’m sure you’ll agree with me when you meet her.
her? sherlock can’t help himself; he kisses back, kisses back, kisses back.
her, john confirms, and his smile grows and grows and grows. and her is a beautiful little black and white english setter, and she’s yours, if you want her. if we make this appointment on time, that is.
a pause, and a very, very, very quiet, mine?
a kiss. a kiss. yours.
and then, a flurry of blankets, and john is alone in the bed: john! what are you waiting for? we’ll be late! and a laugh, bright as sunshine, and, john thinks, twice as brilliant.

As someone who grew up with siblings, I just can't stop thinking about Nightwing and Red Hood getting into a fight in costume and Nightwing slapping his hand over Red Hood's mouth to get him to shut up, temporarily forgetting that he can still talk through the helmet, and Red Hood retaliating by trying to lick Nightwing's hand and accidentally just licking the inside of his helmet.

Thinking about like… what Crowley envisions as the best case scenario with Aziraphale. How Crowley wants them to run away to eke out any little bit of happiness they can together while the world burns, and how that might be nice and might be the best he can hope for, because he’s always known (he fell for knowing and despairing over it) everything was going to end. And Aziraphale wanting to fix things, needing to fix things before they can be together, because I think the idea of having each other and then losing each other is more terrible to Aziraphale than never having each other at all. Nothing lasts forever, he says, but I think it would ruin Aziraphale to be able to love Crowley the way he wants to and then lose him. Nothing lasts forever, but he’s trying to find a way, because there’s no amount of time with Crowley that can be enough. Aziraphale wants eternity, too.

okay I have a lot of criticism about the new superman film but perhaps the most baffling to me is this: why does Lois' apartment look like a normal city small apartment, lived in and shit with a tiny kitchen, while Clark's looks like a fancy ass modern penthouse with a pristine shiny kitchen and a couch that looks it hasn't been used once. like why. and also like canonically Lois is a better reporter than him and usually she's been working at the Daily Planet for longer, and usually Clark sends off part of his salary to his parents to help maintain the farm and whatever. so what is up with those apartments.
