melody.
She's a song written too easily A tune too sweet to forget. She's the melody in the car radio For the rides that feel like she's on the passenger side.
I don't drive those streets anymore The ones marked by bicycle races and scraped knees. But sometimes when that song is on The traffic lights in Morse code Conspire to direct me back to you.

I built this list as just inspiration for the next few days but I figured it would be so much more fun to share and see what you guys come up with as well.
If you’re using these, be sure to tag me @feellnq and use the tag ‘sloka’s pandemic prompts’ so I can see it!!
Setting/subject
Use a location (fictional or real) you would rather be in as a setting.
Use an era/time (fictional or real) you would rather be in as a setting.
Write about the stories you hear in the news: not the awful ones about number of cases but the ones about real people struggling with the pandemic.
Think about what you have with you at home while you’re social distancing. Is there something else you would like to have? What would you do with it?
Themes/words
Bloom
Loss
Lungs
Steal

Writing Prompt: Use a location/era (fictional or real) as a prompt
I imagine I would really fit in if I lived in a small dorm in an old college, somewhere in the hills. Somewhere where it snows, or rains a lot, at a time when we would need to go to a phone booth to connect with loved ones back home. Nothing too inconvenient in case of an emergency,  but I don’t want to have a cellphone — or anyone to have one, actually. I would wear heavy jackets with pockets large enough for a notebook, a pencil, and a book to read. Maybe I could build a rapport with the old lady who runs a diner, and talk to her about her grandson and watch his crayon art on the wall behind her, as she serves up milkshakes and bread. I wouldn’t mind a cramped dorm as long as there are plenty of other cramped dorms just like mine, with other students studying something interesting like anthropology or classics so I can steal some of their books when I drop by and return them with an “oh, you forgot this in my room the other day,” or something similar. That’s way more fun than asking to borrow it or issuing it from the library. I would drink way too much coffee, smoke cigarettes with the med students behind the library, and take long walks across the campus. Everything would be peaceful because there's nothing like the silence after heavy showers. I could make as much interesting conversation as I wanted, read and write to my heart’s content, and actually be around people who see me.

Battle.
It's been six months
Seventeen days
Three hours
And eight minutes.
I thought life would get brighter
And lighter
And easier.
But there's been more hurt than happiness
And I've learnt too many hard lessons
To call this battle love.
I'm looking forward to the future with you
When we can smile at everything life threw at us.
Is it too much to hope for that?
To try to find the sense in all this madness?
I know we've only just begun
And things are delicate right now,
But can we please take a look at each other
And promise to be better?
Can we say we're sorry, that we'll try harder?
Can we say no more false promises
And no more breaking hearts?
Can we put an end to waiting for happiness
And build it where we are?

lies i’ve told.
No, I didn’t want that last piece of cake.
I don’t care.
Yes, I had lunch.
I want to give it a shot.
All I have is love to give.
I don’t wanna talk about it.
I can’t wait to see you when you come back.
I’m almost there.
I will be completely honest with you.
I haven’t had the chance to say this, but…
I don’t wanna talk about it.
I love you.
I believe in us.
I believe in myself.
I don’t wanna talk about it.
I gave you my everything.
You ruined my life.
I hope you’re okay. I hope you’re happy someday.
It doesn't bother me.
I don’t wanna talk about it.

30/05/18: It’s the darkest little paradise Glitter on every cheek, A twinkle in every eye. It’s like she took their breath away, And showed them how to live. She moves like water, Smoothly gliding around. She sings a soulful melody Atop her graceful throne. Her voice is a river Washing away their pain. They watch, they dance, they sing along, They’re happy in every way. They move to the beat, Light up when she does All the colours dancing too, Something in her smile tells them This might just be true love.

18/05/18: I’ve been in storms And I’m thinking now maybe I’m becoming one. I have no way of letting these words out — Except through you, of course — So they form clouds in my mind. They make it rain sometimes. The words take over — For what else am I made of, But my own words? — And they make up Who I am Build me up Destroy me Or just exist — This is all I have for company.

05/04/18: I weave this net With a needle — my pen And use my words as thread. I weave with no pause No thoughts left unsaid. I weave with the hope — And though it may not be so — That this net I weave May be my final bed.

03/04/18: My hands intertwined in shadow fingers, Sometimes the sunlight took them away. So I lived in darkness, holding on to the hand That held me when no one else dared.

26/03/18: I wish I could write you a melody Like all the ones you didn't write for me To show you what's in my heart: A mirror But it's broken, Piercing me. But the pain Is nothing Compared to the Loss of your touch.

23/03/18: It was just a sultry Tuesday, When she heard it clear as day. She had a start, but her daring heart, Went calmly to investigate. Tick, tock, went the clock, Then the noise did repeat: Despite the speed of her heart-beat, She stepped into the dark. The noise, now unheard, Still plagued her ringing ears. So with a flip of the light-switch, There was a flood in the room of white. Now let me make an observation, That though the light did boast; the switch did little, the illumination Came from another source. This, she hardly knew, I wish I could have told her. For at once, her soul split in two, To make space for the newcomer. The other half, it sidled past, and exploded in a shower. And hence, my friend, the innocence In her soul was gone forever.

20/03/18: What’s the rush? Dreams need to be chased, But destiny always waits. And though they may not be the same, You might find yourself in a dance with the two: A masquerade, you don’t know who’s who. So which one will you choose? Is it a choice at all? Is it something that happens to you? Is it something you take? Remember, through it all: Dreams may come true, But destiny always waits.

04/11/17: And I'll see you down every road — I'll say I'm clean, but I'll still stay home, to think about you and all of your words: the ones you gave me and the ones I wrote. and I'll keep praying you won't let go, that maybe you still hold out hope.

30/10/17: I spent my whole life Living in the dark. You came along And showed me The light in your heart. Some things don't last And you didn't either— But I'll always remember you While drinking coffee On the cusp of winter.

27/10/17: I've always been afraid to be alone, Still, all this time I've been on my own. But you come along and set me free, I'm no longer a slave to my filthy misery. But you and I are a candle in the wind, And it carries away your music as you sing. But soon, one day, my fears whisper, The wind will blow the last song away And you'll go running after.

25/10/17: Let me go and let me out, Let me float until I reach the clouds. I don't want this mind, set me free, I'll trade this brain, I'll drift into the galaxy; Just take it away and make it stop. I'll let you take my soul— If you promise to take the voices too.
