My daughter asks for one every time she sees even a freckle on her arm or leg. So, as always, I use her interests to come up with educational activities. Eid —  we call it bakra Eid/ Bari Eid, the festival that evokes millions of emotions and fills them up with nostalgia. Moreover, it’s not just the day of Eid that takes us back to our childhood emotional roller coaster, but also the days leading to Eid. From buying sacrificial animal, taking care of it, spending days with it, to waking up for the morning prayer to lining up to get Eidi from the elders, this holiday brings back a wave of memories. My kids are as crazy for this Eid as I was, just watching them brings so many flashbacks!! Do you miss that time too? . . We celebrate it as a symbol of Hazrat Abrahim A.S willingness to sacrifice his son to Allah, Muslims sacrifice a prized goat. 1/3 is kept for themselves, 1/3 is given away to relatives and well-wishers and the final 1/3 is given to the less fortunate. In northern areas of Pakistan bee hives are very common. They fascinate me.
