And every action he takes is in memory, in honour of the ones he loves as if he is already mourning them.

I’ve said this many times now, but Kai isn’t just Kai. He is everyone he loves, and when they are gone, he clings to their memory like a lost child in a crowd.

As much as I really love the Lego Ninjago movie, I feel like it was partly responsible for Zane's characterization in recent seasons.

A huge part of his character is that, despite being a robot, he's a very humane character. He cares for his family (the ninja), he's very expressive and full of emotion. He's able to show affection and attraction towards Pixal, and it's been very easy for his family to even forget that he's a nindroid.

But the movie's portrayal of him, albeit funny, was kinda off. The joke is that he's a robot disguised as a teenager. Beep boop beep am I right? Like I said in a previous post, I think it was a good Lego movie, but not a good Ninjago movie, it felt like a parody of the series more than a celebration of it (which the Lego Batman movie succeeded at). Zane's characterization in the movie felt like a parody like

"haha look at this robot dressed as a teenager, he's doing an awful job acting human, he's so obviously a robot and nothing more than that"

When you look at it with the Zane from the series in mind, can you see where things went wrong with the movie? In recent seasons, Zane is much more monotone, still having cute and funny moments but not really showing as much expression as he used to. Although, it may just be a result of him having years of experience and wisdom, not really having much time to goof off. The ninja are no longer teenagers, they're grown adults with students to train and a huge threat heading their way. He'll always be my favourite ninja but I still wonder, will we ever get to see that side of Zane again, or is it just the passage of time?

I'll be honest, I myself haven't seen much of bizarro fanfiction on ao3 as it is, but i do have like- two recommendations that might be up your alley

First one is a fic i actually JUST READ and loved it, it's "mirror,mirror" by melonluvr37, great way to start my day!

Second one is more like an author itself they're the first person to introduce me to fanfiction about the bizarros, though most of their fics consist of B!Cole/Og!Zane or Destruction shipping (all the bizarros). I will say, they write more suggestive content, but if thats something you're interested in I'd suggest Aweebwrites!

Other than that, I've mainly seen stuff about Bizarro Jay, but I do plan on eventually writing more about the Bizarros in the future :D
