Chief: “You absolutely, absolutely, can’t be reckless. If you get scared or think it’s dangerous, be sure to turn back.”

Chief: “Understood?”

Ortho: “Yup, got it!”

Chief: “……That’s all you have to say?”

Chief: “Geez! Just because you understand. You don’t listen to what mama has to say at all!”

Chief: “Why are boys like this? Mama, no amount of heart is enough.”

Chief: “You’re just like your big brother. Once you decide to do something, there’s no stopping it.”

Ortho: “Mom…”

Director: “……Ortho. This is a problem that ‘S.T.Y.X. and the Magical Force should deal with.”

Director: “There is no need for you to go to that island, and put yourself in danger.”

Director ・Chief: “…………………”

LITERALLY THOUGH-

Like I love Jamikali mostly in AU/Post-Canon situations, but in canon they are still so good, for this exact reason. They are both GROWING and MATURING and UNDOING GENERATIONAL TRAUMA (recurring theme throughout TWST, which is fitting since Disney/Pixar's recent movies have tackled these topics head-on - namely Encanto and Turning Red).

Anyways, some evidence of Jamil being very much Not Emotionally Mature™:

Saw Grim and Yuu, the people at the center of the last three overblots (who also stopped three tyrants in the process), and thought "ah yes these are the perfect people to lock in my dorm".

That time he was so offended that the basketball club called his food bland that he spent most of culinary crucible making sauces in six different colors.

When he thought he was flawless in his fairy gala performance and that Kalim and Leona were the problems, only for Vil to get his ass and tell him his stiffness and lack of passion potentially made him the worst offender.

Every time he says or does anything unnecessarily petty. You're not immune sir, you've done this at least 20 times.

When he found out Malleus was going on the Scalding Sands trip and tried to convince him not to go because it could cause an international incident if something happened, only to almost cause said incident by indirectly insulting him multiple times.

Literally the entirety of 6-67 where Leona's calling him out on his emotional immaturity.

Kalim: *tries to do something* Jamil: *stops him from doing thing and does it himself* Also Jamil: "Why can't Kalim do anything?"

(^ I realize most of this last one is on order from his parents but like...you could have let him fetch the ice cream bestie 😭)

The most damning piece of evidence: I relate to him too much for him not to be at least a little emotionally immature lol.

Jamil and Kalim are great because yeah Kalim isn’t mature in the traditional way but guys Jamil is so not emotionally mature. They like balance each other out because they are both stupid just opposite. I hope they learn from each other and grow as people. I REALLY AAAAAAAA-
