Hii! I was wondering if you're planning on doing a f!reader, m!reader, or gn!reader for the soulmate fic?

Well, I was referring to a f!reader in the previous asks but I want as many people to enjoy this fic as possible so it will be gn!reader. I will try not to describe too much about the reader's characteristics either (Hair length, facial features, skin tone, etc.)

I want people to be able to imagine whoever they want.

(That being said please correct me if you see any mistakes bcuz no one is perfect. not even me 😞)

Okayy so I love the discussion going on, and I might be a bit late but what if it's a soul split in half but with self hatred.

Damian has a lot of angst around hating himself and feeling unworthy so what if you turn that into him hating the other person, because either she has the pieces of himself he wishes he was, or he sees the things he hates the most in himself in her. And reader definitely needs some self hatred too omg. (I love angst.)

Add in some string drama maybe? Or you could have the mark of their first touch be a near fatal wound as they try to kill each other.

It all ties back to them being each other's mirrors. I agree that it's part of Damian's character that he struggles a lot with self-worth and acceptance of himself so I'd love to do some exploration of that within this fic. And ofc the reader will have insecurities and doubt about herself as well bcuz I need them to hate each other before they love each other 🤭

I will definitely try a write string of fate fic as well but it may not be with Damian (give suggestions on which characters you'd like to see!)

(I'm thinking Stephanie Brown or Duke Thomas bcuz they need more content from DC and the Fandom in general)

(Also the first touch tropes happening while they're trying to kill each other?? Chef's kiss)

Im more of a threads-of-fate person (especially if the characters are fighting and having a big angst thing and are using it to choke and trip and beat one another up with it. AND IT LEAVES SCARS??? And killing someone with the very thing that demands you two be drawn together??? Symbolism and such. And scissors. Oh my god, scissors cutting it and people tying them together and cutting off a soulmate and tying your string with another person AHHHHHH) but, OMGGGGG, TWIN FLAMES? UNDER USED. I love stuff like that. Because it also creates conflict. (Can you tell I like conflict?) A soul split in half does NOT mean that those two people are going to work perfectly all the time 24/7. It means they're going to be so similar and they might not be able to stand it.

I think the best fic with soulmates I ever read was one of those. There was a background couple in it, one of the character's parents. Soulmates were hard to find because there's so many people in the world, but her parents found each other! But they were too similar. They fought about everything, and it was toxic and horrible and it was such an interesting look into a relationship between two halves of a whole.

I feel like having two people who slot perfectly together is definitely an appealing and fun thing to mess around with. But one soul split into two? Two people who stare at one another and just see themself? There are so, so many places you could go with that.

I do like the fluff that comes with it, though. The warmth that comes from knowing that your partner knows you better than you know yourself, the security of knowing that they'll be a part of you no matter what, the comfort of knowing thay somewhere out there, there's someone. And that someone is like you, a you from a different scenario.

Yeah, threads of fate is such a nice trope too! (Dw anon I love conflict and angst too 😝)

Fighting against the system that demands that some stranger is your destined partner whether that be romantically or platonically is something I enjoy a lot in soulmate fics which you will be seeing a bit of while reading this fic. (Wink wink)

Just know this is will be slow burn bcz I live for slow burn and the yearning and longing always makes for good conflict 🤭

But they're just looking at what's essentially a mirror of themselves is just SOOO yk? These guys are going to hate each other at first LMAO

I honestly can't wait to flesh this world out and I hope people will enjoy it as much as I'm loving writing it right now. I'm sorry for the bit of delay (ive been busy ☹️) but I'd like to at least get a couple of chapters written before I post the prologue + chapter 1

i've seen so many soulmate aus where they use soulmate marks but personally i'm partial to fics that are more of a "twin flame" and i honestly think that's a good concept to go for with damian. like, twin flames are supposed to be one soul in two bodies. they're mirrors of each other rather than two compatible connected souls. i think someone who is a "mirror" of damian would work more rather than someone who compliments him.

Yeah, soulmate marks are a little overused in fics and honestly, I'm tired of it. Which is why I asked for people's suggestions and I really love this one a lot. My plans for this fic are very incomplete but I do have an idea of where I want it to go. This suggestion is adorable and kinda perfect for Damian's character (imo) although I'm not sure I'd be able to do it justice 💔
