So a little detail in Epic the musical that has me in in a goddamn chokehold.

In WYFILWMA Penelope's first lines are

Is it you? Have my prayers been answered? Is it really you standing there, or am I dreaming one more?

And that's absolutely killing me. Yes, I know that's a perfectly normal thing for a woman to miss and dream of her husband coming home, but it's still shattering my heart into pieces everytime I hear it.

Because imagine; Penelope's laying in the wedding bed, it's late at night, she can't even fall asleep because she misses Odysseus, she's worried about Telemachus and stressed about the suitors in her home. She finally falls asleep, and starts dreaming. She dreams about Odysseus returning home, and she swears she can feel him hugging her even though she knows he's not there. She has this dream multiple times, and it's so vivid and she wakes up with tears in her eyes every single time.

An add-on to this, in ICHBW, Telemachus' first few lines are

All my life, I'd have died to meet you, thought about your name so much it hurts, for 20 years I dreamt of how I'd greet you

So on the other hand, while Penelope's got tears falling from her eyes as she sleeps, Telemachus is awake, laying in his bed and thinking about what he'll say when his father finally returns home. He isn't even sure if he ever will, but he's got hope. Penelope's told him that someday he'll meet his father, she's sure of that. He trusts what his mother says, so he keeps hope that someday, he'll meet Odysseus. Maybe sometimes he even imagines fighting off the suitors with his father.

I think way too many people put Batman on a pedestal because they don't know a whole lot about the Batfamily. It annoys me that people only care about Batman, and just ignore his kids and allies. In my experience with under educated Batman fans, they don't even like the Robins or the others. I'm not saying Batman's a bad person, I'm just saying that a lot of people ignore his faults, or don't care to learn about them. He's not a saint, people. He's far from it. Yes, I know, he cares about and loves his kids, but he's an okay father at best. He's made a lot of unjustified and illogical decisions with his family life in the past. A lot of those decisions stem around what I think is his overprotectiveness and ignorance to the fact that his family knows what they're doing. I feel like Bruce is even more paranoid about his kids than he is about everything else, to the point where it's hindering on their lives. His insecurity is affecting everybody around him, and he has refused to acknowledge it time and time again. He's the type of guy that the moment he has a problem, it's him against the entire world, give or take. He pushes his family and friends away and causes strain on their relationships. Now, I know he's got lots of trauma and issues, but that doesn't exactly give him an excuse. I'm not just talking nonsense here, my own dad's a lot like Bruce in that sense. I know what it's like to be on the receiving end of said decisions. So, stop putting Bruce on a pedestal, guys.

I know a lot of people make jokes about Tim's missing spleen, but holy shit. I never really did research on the whole ordeal, and apperently Ra's just had it casually fucking sitting on a shelf?! Imagine being Damian, and he just knows where his adoptive brother's missing fucking spleen is sat on a shelf. That their other adoptive brother (Jason) stabbed out with a Batarang because he was angry Tim replaced him. This whole goddamn situation is insane to me. What's even worse is Tim having to explain that to anyone who he happens to accidentally let the topic slip to.

Tim: Oh, yeah, so I lost my spleen-

Literally anyone: Now how the hell did you lose your spleen?!

Tim: Jason stabbed it

Jason: I was angry, okay? Being dead makes you an angry person.

Literally anyone: Wh-

Tim: And Ra's Al Ghul has it in a jar.

I would actually love if at some point, one of the other Batkids started learning older insults and terms just to get back at Damian when he's being particularly annoying. I can honestly see this being Jason or Tim, maybe Steph. Just picture this:

Dick, walking in to see Jason, Tim and Steph huddled over one of their phones: Uh, what's going on?

Jason, smirking, and looking extremely mischievous: Oh, nothing. Just looking up some words.

Tim, his expression downright evil-looking: We're Googling insults people used to use in the 1800s.

Dick, baffled: Do I wanna know why?

Steph: Probably better if you don't.

Dick: Okay.

I wish I knew enough old English insults to be able to actually write this in action, but the concept is there.
