I was thinking.... A story about my unusual perception of music under the cut
A while ago, I dedicated a song to my best friend, by that I mean many years ago, it was Close to you. It's a really sad song that talks about death and losing the person you love the most
But to me that song was heartwarming... It didn't make me sad... Maybe melancholic, but to me that song was a shown of love, claiming eternal love, that no matter what will continue strong, will keep trying to reach, a song that while sad, I saw as somewhat hopeful....
I currently am a lot more aware of the feelings that something is trying to transmit vs the ones that it gives to me in particular...
I remember my best friend got confused and slightly upset because... Well, I was basically dedicating them a requiem. In that moment I didn't understand why that reaction and I even tried to explain why I chose that song, with no success... But now I understand it...
And idk I was thinking about that... I'm missing 3 people to send songs to and I need to listen to the ones that got given to me in return yesterday... But even tho I gave that disclaimer, I mostly tried to stick with happy songs, trying to avoid upsetting anyone. I did put a couple bittersweet or sad songs in some, but overall I was afraid of upsetting anyone and tried to step back on it....
Anyways, food is about to arrive, and I have a date with some episodes of anime I haven't seen!!! (Omg seari episode review incoming)

look, I know I've talked about this essay (?) before but like,
If you ever needed a good demonstration of the quote "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic", have I got an exercise for you.
Somebody made a small article explaining the basics of atomic theory but it's written in Anglish. Anglish is basically a made-up version of English where they remove any elements (words, prefixes, etc) that were originally borrowed from romance languages like french and latin, as well as greek and other foreign loanwords, keeping only those of germanic origin.
What happens is an english which is for the most part intelligible, but since a lot everyday english, and especially the scientific vocabulary, has has heavy latin and greek influence, they have to make up new words from the existing germanic-english vocabulary. For me it kind of reads super viking-ey.
Anyway when you read this article on atomic theory, in Anglish called Uncleftish Beholding, you get this text which kind of reads like a fantasy novel. Like in my mind it feels like it recontextualizes advanced scientific concepts to explain it to a viking audience from ancient times.
Even though you're familiar with the scientific ideas, because it bypasses the normal language we use for these concepts, you get a chance to examine these ideas as if you were a visitor from another civilization - and guess what, it does feel like it's about magic. It has a mythical quality to it, like it feels like a book about magic written during viking times. For me this has the same vibe as reading deep magic lore from a Robert Jordan book.

You’re placed in a room with an animal. The door is closed and you cannot leave. The animal is completely calm and has no intent of harming you. You are in no danger unless you provoke the animal in some way.

If we really think about it, this all started with megan dropping Hiss. Hiss was never a Nicki diss, it was a drake/those who've been capping for Mr. Peterson diss first and foremost. Nicki made it about her The only line that could have gone to nicki was the Megan's line bar and she showed her whole ass on that one, but every other bar applied to drake , who'd been dissing megan for years and going up for Tory once he found out he shot her.

Like all of these are about Drake, especially the bbl and cosplay gangster stuff. She was the first person to wack drake for his botched body and his allegiance to the corny culture vulture community. You notice how every other diss to drake has been mentioning what megan said in hiss? She really threw the first diss at drakewall like please give her her flowers

Speaking up and educating people on why the most hated life forms on the planet are important and meaningful is a thankless task.
How do we reach out and get people to care about insects and spiders when the average reaction is either "EEWW KILL IT WITH FIRE" or blind panic?
Arthropods are crucial to the survival of life as we know it. Yes, even commonly vilified bugs like wasps and mosquitoes have ecological niches that the world CANNOT do without.
I cannot overstate their importance.

me: it's wrong to assign children stigmatizing labels due to antisocial behavior implying they were born with some sort of evil condition when in reality these behaviors result from abuse, neglect, peer influence, or a combination and can be best resolved with proper support before the child reaches adulthood. instead these children are isolated and punished at school and have trouble seeking help later in life.
someone: op this is a lie I literally know a 5 year old who is actually a sociopathic narcissist

I keep seeing ads for cotton candy flavored vape pods on tumblr and it made me wonder…
Why/Why not in the tags?
I’m interested because I feel like when I was in high school/college in the mid-10s, almost nobody smoked - even if you otherwise had some pretty hard vices. I think it was considered not really worth it for something with such a small buzz. But now, idk. Maybe the advertisers are right to target people here because it’s just that popular again??
(Reblog for a bigger sample size etc etc.)
