Hi sorry I'm coming across some posts of people being confused if proship means 'problematic ship' and people misusing the term proship FOR problematic ship who call themselves a proshipper, I think I've even used proship as a broad term on my blog to INCLUDE people who are darkship, who are still proship, since I think many of my followers are darkshippers, but I've been trying to make sure I say 'proship darkshippers' instead to avoid confusion, but. Proship is 'for shipping', pro = for. It's anti-harassment with fictional ships, the idea that every fictional ship deserves to exist without the enjoyers of said ship being harassed for it no matter the nature of the ship and no matter if that ship isn't your cup of tea. Blocking instead of harassing if it's a ship you dislike and not looking at the content made of that ship but keeping in mind that just because you dislike it doesn't mean it shouldn't exist in fiction, things like that. Profiction is the same concept except replace ships/shipping with fiction in general, once again pro = for. Darkshipping/darkfiction (or some people use the phrase 'dead dove do not eat', dead dove being the indicator that the media has dark content in it) is the term used for when a ship or a piece of fictional content has dark ideas incorporated into it. Like incest, non-consensual sex, adult x minor/loli/shota, etc.

Now here's the fickle part. A person can in fact be a darkshipper and enjoy dark fictional content and still not be a proshipper. A proshipper does not NEED to be a darkshipper, they are just anti-harassment. A darkshipper can, let's say, like incest ships, but if they dislike minor x adult ships, and they decide to harass someone who does enjoy those ships and believe that minor x adult ships shouldn't exist because they think it's 'too far' or 'too gross', they are not proship. Alternatively, someone could be very uncomfortable by any sort of darkship, they only like ships that have healthy dynamics and never incorporate dark ideas into their ships, but they don't harass people who do indulge in darkships and don't believe in the censorship of said ships just because they don't like it (they block and curate their online experience to fit their boundaries instead of going out of their way to harass people who break said boundaries). That person is a proshipper. So to reiterate, proship does not mean problematic ship, darkship is the term you're looking for. Now, knowing how words tend to change overtime in communities, perhaps I'm wrong or I've stated some incorrect information, and if I have please correct me 😭 but if not, I hope this all makes sense and helps at least someone out whose been confused.

Puritan antishippers.

The word Puritan gets thrown around a lot in the proship community, but there are genuinely some antis out there who fit this description.

From what I've seen, they generally believe in the following:

Fiction affects reality ON A 1:1 BASIS (ie if you like a book about murder, then you must be a murderer, or at least enjoy it in real life)

All dark fiction is harmful (dark fiction here could range from darkship content to merely controversial topics) and therefore should not be published

People who write dark fiction should be legally punished

Censorship/monitoring of media, and banning any that do not fit their moral code

Thought crimes are real crimes

A lot are therefore pro-harassment, pro-censorship, anti-para, etc.

Now obviously I don't agree with this stance for many, MANY reasons. And no, it's not just because they think dark fiction is harmful (in fact, it's the stance I'm least pissy about, because the others are far worse imo).

Like it or not, we kinda NEED controversial fiction to exist. How can we practice media literacy if everything we consume has been so heavily sanitised, after all? Additionally, I shouldn't need to elaborate too much on why censoring media and punishing people over writing fiction are things that can be and have been used for evil.

And even if we just apply this to darkship content, where do we draw the line? I could write a story where the main character is groomed into thinking they enjoy being raped by their abuser. If I write it in first person (ie from an unreliable narrator POV), am I now fetishising rape? After all, as far as the MC knows, they ""enjoy"" it. If that's not the case, then HOW will you differentiate it? Do I have to put a "Warning: this is bad" on that story, just to appease a group of people who probably weren't going to touch my story in the first place?

Censorship is pointless. You can hate something, or even think it's wrong, without just wanting it gone.

The real issue is misinformation, and there are ways to combat that without just straight up taking content down. (The exception is Tiktok. I genuinely cannot think of a good way to deal with propaganda and misinformation on short style platforms without just straight up taking it down, unless we do the 'adding context' thing? But then how will we make sure it's accurate? Also how would you filter content adequately?)

The thing about this ridiculous 'antiship versus proship' western/English speaking issue is that the basic philosophy of both sides is actually on the same page when it comes to not wanting real children to be harmed by predators.

But whilst one generally has a good grip on how this harm occurs and fictions role in that, if anything - the other does not and instead gives in to illogical reaches guided only by paranoia and ignorance.

The problem therefore comes with antis not understanding what harm is, what causes harm, how predators tend to work, and the role of fiction in all of this. As evidenced by...literally decades of predators existing, being caught, being studied etc.

All communities you belong to, all of them, will have predators in them including predophilic predators. They will label themselves your labels, they will talk your talk and then go against the principles of your group to try and harm/harm minors.

Being a proshipper does not mean liking pedophilic or incest or whatever ships. That's darkshipping. Pro is not short of problematic, just like pro-choice isn't problematic choice. It just means 'for' in this context, the opposite of anti. Proship philosophy at it's core just means being anti-harassment and anti-censorship. But no group is a hivemind, you're going to get bad apples. That doesn't mean the whole group is bad when the above is their group philosophy.

Meanwhile, the philosophy of antishipping isn't all to dissimilar to puritans and other pro-censorship conservatives and involves a vast majority of the community engaging or allowing active harassment, victim shaming, triggering of victims, sharing of inappropriate material to minors, encouraging minors to seek out that material ('to warn others'), suicide baiting, moral policing, dehumanising etc based on personal morals and discomfort.

Which still doesn't mean all antis are bad people! It just means the philosophy is bad and has attracted more people who wish to cause harm in this manner whilst taking the moral high ground.

If you're an anti who was targetted by a predator who labelled themselves 'proship/profic' and used inappropriately sexual and specific ship content to groom you - I'm sincerely sorry. But that predator would have existed and found ways to harm you even if they'd identified as anti. I'm really tired of people using their experiences to 'prove' that all proshippers are pedos. Nobody said that 'no proshippers are ever pedos' because that invites harm. All communities have these people in them.

The vast majority of proshippers, especially if they're adults, do not want or encourage minors to interact. They label themselves 18+ and nsfw if they post that content and encourage you to not view such material. It is within their rights to have spaces for adults, and to create whatever fiction they wish. It is not going to normalise it, never has, never will, except for a minority of people who did not have enough of an education of these things before exposure to understand the difference between fiction/reality (and there are so many proshippers willing to teach you not to see this as ok irl).

I'm not saying it's your fault if you were a victim, it is never the victims fault. Somebody should have educated you and given you the tools to avoid harm before you went online, so that you could ship whatever and avoid anyone harmful, but they didn't and someone insidious said what they had to say to get to you. They are the one completely in the wrong there, completely. Because you were innocent and doing what you thought was best and they took advantage of you.

But the same thing happens with adult antis and minors who are antis too. Does that mean all antishippers are pedos? No. Not because they are antishippers, but because most people simply are not predators.

The real issue here is that antishipping censorvative mindsets teach you that it is easy to recognise a predator by a meaningless label they use 'pro-whatever' or 'anti-anti' or 'whatever-ship that's not anti'. In real life however, a predator is clever enough to hide their intents behind any kind of label you trust. If you trust proship they'll use that, if you trust antiship they'll use that.

Without the actual tools to recognise real grooming, you are always going to be vulnerable. So instead of having a moral war because some of us got squicked by someone elses OTP why don't we actually do what we're all yelling about and give minors tools to avoid harm and holding predators in fandom accountable?

Hiii!!!! Welcome to my cave. This is my main blog where I post and reblog stuff I like. Mostly a combination of dark stuff and stuff aimed at children. Which don't usually go together, but I make it work.

There's gonna be some "messed up" stuff on here (mainly darkships or horror or stuff like that) but only in a fictional context. I'm profiction and am not interested in arguing with you about it. I try to tag everything appropriately (please tell me if I missed tagging something triggering, I will fix it immediately), so you can just block tags you dislike, and if you think I'm a monster or something you can just block me. My basic opinion is this: all fiction is morally neutral and has a right to exist, PROVIDED THAT it's not about real people and that it's tagged/sorted properly so kids and people who could get triggered by it don't have to see it. If you disagree then leave.

There's no nsfw on this blog, but there IS a lot of horror, so I'm not comfortable with people under 16 interacting, not because you're a bad person or because you annoy me, but because this shit could mess up your brain. Adults can separate fiction from reality, kids cannot.

Many things. Thanks for asking. It all started when I was born.

• I have memory issues. If I forgot something I am sorry and also it will happen again. Also I do not remember what happens in the shows I've watched.

• I have non-24. My sleep schedule shifts by a few hours every day, and I usually sleep between 12-16 hours, sometimes more. If I get any less sleep, I'm too tired to function. Yes, it's annoying. No, there's no cure. I have no set waking hours it's in the hands of Primus.

• I'm an age regressor, though I don't post about it here often. We love deep-rooted childhood trauma! /j But I remain bodily an adult, so don't worry; if I'm not in the mood for seeing adult content, I can simply look away.

This, mostly.

I can't work due to my disabilities, so I stay home and cuddle my cat multiple hours a day. It's great. I'm highly introverted and strongly dislike the presence of human beings in my general vicinity, so I don't feel like I am missing out even slightly. Please don't make me go outside. There's people out there.

What I do do is adopt senior cats and try to give them all of my love and the best last few years I can offer. Only one at a time, because I don't have neither energy, space, nor money for more than one cat, but for that one cat it makes a difference. End of life care, basically. I'm used to death, and I don't seem to process it the way most people do from what I've gathered, so I'm the perfect person for this. Plus, I'm a low-energy person in need of a low-energy cat, and seniors are made for me. This is what I was put on this earth to do.

My first cat, my beautiful daughter and love of my life, was my sweet baby Maddie who I adopted when she was 15. She lived until the age of 19, despite multiple health issues and going blind. In February 2025, I adopted Aria, a 16 year old sweetie, who's deaf and is missing multiple teeth. She loves belly rubs and giving kisses, and so do I!

As you can see, I love talking about my cats. I will never shut up about my cats. I ran out of images on this post, but if you want to see them, shoot me an ask. I love showing them off. Please ask me about my cats.

🪻 Why are you non-sharing about Prowl but not anybody else?

I actually hate calling Prowl an f/o, or our relationship a selfship, because it is neither fictional to me, nor do I "ship us". Prowl isn't just "a character I like". He's real to me. I have known him for longer than I have not. I wear a ring on my finger that binds me to him.

All my other faves ARE just characters I like. And the amount of like ranges from "I just think he's neat" to "I am frothing at the mouth and need to sit on his face" with a lot of nuance inbetween.

Think of it like someone having an irl partner and still selfshipping with fictional characters, and the partner doesn't mind it because they know it's only fiction. It's like that, except my partner is technically fictional too.

If you ask me directly, I do not. I consider Prowl my irl partner, and as such, I do not imagine myself to be living in his world. Because I do not. I am not writing a story, I am living my real life, and Prowl is simply a part of it.

That said, I do have two ocs I ship with him... sort of.

• Ash Majors, my self-insert I made when I was 13. I do usually use self inserts, and back then I couldn't have imagined how big of an impact Prowl would have on me. Plus, I was 13. What more can I say. Ash is a bit overpowered and a tragic mary sue, because, again, I was 13, but I revamped them a bit and in hindsight all of that was actually so based of me. I no longer fully consider them me, they're more like an oc that was based on myself, but they're fun to play around with.

• And Bird, who I made when I was about 18 or so. I had a phase where I thought selfshipping was cringe (boo) but I still wanted to ship with Prowl, so I made a new oc with no ties to me for him. I love Bird. She's my sweet baby.

Funnily enough, I have moments when I'm non-sharing about my own ocs. Yes, I made them. Yes, I chose this. And yet I am jealous. Great job, me.

Yes, I understand that Prowl isn't real. I mean, duh. Our world isn't ready for a chin like that. But the feelings are real. The impact he has had on my life is real. I am here because of him, and he's taught me to see the world in a different light. He's my love, in this or any other world.

🪻 But he's literally not physically there.

Well, yeah, we all saw him die, right? He's real to me, but he's simply gone. And it hurts, but I also, like I said, have a bit of a special connection to the concept of death. I lost my mother when I was 9, and many people before and since. It's simply a part of life. There's nothing bad or scary about it. I feel him with me, and once I'm done with this life – which hopefully won't be for a long time, because I'm not nearly done with living yet – maybe I'll see him again. Who knows what comes next. We'll find out eventually. The time will pass anyway.

And no, I can't just pretend he's fine. I saw it happen. This isn't imaginary to me; I'm not playing pretend. It's alright, though. Grief is a part of life just as much as love is. I find beauty in it. I see him in everything. I don't want to move on. I found my true love, and I'm happy.
