homophobia issue …
first of all,,, im bisexual!! so if anyone has a problem with that, please get off my blog. i will not be tolerating homophobia of any kind.
i really, really didn’t want to have to come out in this way, bc the situation is so bad right now. i really didnt expect enhablr to be facing this kind of a problem.
when i first heard about the issue, i was thoroughly shocked. like completely.
before anything, ill let you all read the definition of homophobia.
Tumblr media
“discrimination” “dislike against the community” this. disrespect falls in the category of homophobia as well.
now to address the issue at hand. i wasnt directly involved in this problem. some of you may even be wondering why im making a post about it.
but as a part of the lgbtq community, i think id like to speak what i feel about this.
the situation we heard about was that an enhablr writer, had written dni: lgbtq in their account, which literally anyone would be surprised or angry at, especially if you belong to the community.
OP’s friend, who had recently become my mutual, was defending OP’s actions, which made me think of unfollowing them and i wanted to unfriend them. but then i found out it involves religion.
religion is a very sensitive topic for everyone and could go wrong in multiple ways. i respect all religions and beliefs.
so i texted OP’s friend, asking about the situation at hand, in case it was a misunderstanding.
i am aware that the quran forbids acting on gay feelings. it teaches you to not accept the gay ‘Lot’. (i have done my reading on this topic so i rlly hope im not saying anything out of line. if i am, please forgive me.)
but as far as i know, and have heard from my other islamic friends, the quran also tells you to respect and love everyone, no matter what they are or identify as. respect and acceptance are two different things. islam doe not encourage lgbtq, but doesnt tell u to NOT respect people of every kind.
if what they say is correct, then being on tumblr and reading and writing fanfictions is very much considered as haram as well.
in the above conversation, i texted them wanting to hear their side of the story as well. OP’s friend constantly used the word ‘opinion’ along with ‘belief’.
now, opinion and beliefs are two different things. opinion is something that YOU FOLLOW on your own will. belief is something that your religion teaches you to follow, against your will or not. you can notice OP’s friend has used the word opinion quite a lot.
OP’s friend had received an ask and this was their response.
Tumblr media
‘everybody has their own opinion.’
again, the word opinion is used here, which conveys to us that they’re not wanting to interact with lgbtq community on their own accord.
i tried to explain that most of us get enough hate for being a part of the lgbtq community, and seeing dni:lgbtq, doesnt make it any better.
now, about OP.
when OP was answering asks, most of their answers were very mixed up,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the third picture, you’ll see ive highlighted a sentence.
they say THEY DONT LIKE lgbtq. usage of first person is used. “i don’t like what they’re doing” which conveys their opinion on the community.
in the first picture, they claim that if tumblr was only lgbtq people, they’d never stay. how mean is that?
second slide, ‘escaping them’ escaping us????????? what does that even mean.
there was another pic, (that i cant add rn bc tumblr has an image limit), where they said “why do people have a problem w us saying dni lgbtq but no one has a problem if people say dni homophobic?”
… are they being for real.
i genuinely dont think they understand the situation properly. they keep saying the same thing, and mixing up opinions and beliefs.
the replies under OP’s pinned post were terrible. people said things like “im so sorry. what they’re doing is so fucking messed up.” we wouldn’t call out people for no reason just like that???
extra info: OP had written a suggestive niki fic before too.
people of the lgbtq community are humans too. it doesnt make us any different from everyone. please stop treating anyone differently, we are all of the same bone. spread positivity and happiness, not this negative energy.
please feel free to dm me if you’d like to rant abt anything! im here to listen anytime ❤️
please reblog this!

s3 morgana being "beyond redemption" is soooooo crazy to me like yeah trying to kill the evil tyrant king whos been murdering every last one of your kind is sooooo evil lock her up and throw away the key!!
such a prime example of a kick the dog character too. like they cant condemn her for just fighting for her right to exist so they have her executing civilians and trying to have gwen executed to make her into the villian.
and! the same goes for morgause! literally what did she ever do wrong? uther conquered camelot (said by him in the episode where gili fights in the tournament) and then executed hundreds if not thousands of people with magic but morgause trying to kill the king is a step too far? why? its almost like the show is actually on uthers side 🤨🤨🤨🤨
which leads me to: the fact that we essentially watch the entire show through the pendragon perspective. merlin protects arthur so everything we learn about the purge and magic and the old religion is from uther/gaius. so, biased, to say the least. one of the most important things they tell you when researching history is to consider where your information is coming from and how that persons perspective influences their discussion of it.
which is why i also dont consider nimueh to be a villain. shes an activist! yeah she tried to kill arthur that one (?) time but he didnt even die so. doesnt count <3 but we SEE her having a conversation ALONE with uther where she says she didnt know what would happen to ygraine and i just cant imagine why she would lie. if she really wanted to hurt him she could have said she'd known and killed her on purpose but i dont think thats the case at all. she says she never would have helped him if she'd known what would happen. like, surprise, if you hunt and kill people for the crime of existing they will fight back and its not going to be the way you like it and innocent people will die. because thats war. you ruthlessly slaughter her people and she will slaughter yours.
worlds most unstructered post. professors hate her. anyway the show eventually starts to take on a very firm, "merlin has magic but ues not LIKE those other magic users therefore hes ok :) everyone else is evil tho. except the druids (sometimes :|)", whereby merlin using magic is only allowed if hes helping or saving arthur (except all those other times but we dont talk about those i guess) and his stance on magic eventually warps until hes just kind of horrible about it.
100% unpopular opinion but gaius should have died in s2 or 3. he influenced merlin far too much and basically never for the better. sorry to gaius lovers but i do NOT like that old man. he advises merlin EVERY time to not tell morgana about her magic (which she has no control over and therefore is manifesting in ways that will absolutely get her caught), to never help any of the unfairly persecuted people of the episode or even to use magic at all. hes a bootlicking coward who only helped people he cared for or when it suited him. how many people do you think he watched burn simply because he didnt agree with the way they used magic, whether it actually "evil" or not.
merlin's only friends who know about his magic are an old conservative man and a guy who dies right when merlin could have used the support of someone to help him "come out" to arthur about his magic.
im firmly of the opinion that had he told morgana about his magic everything would have been literally fine. because alone and with loterally no support system at all, is it any wonder that morgana would go down the road she did? after years of fear and watching people just like her be burned for the crime of existing, with no prophecy or friends to tell her that it wont always be this way. you dont have to be afraid because youre not the only one and i wont let anything happen to you. oh wait. she did get told that. by MORGAUSE. not about the prophecy but how can they be judged by trying to bring about change by themselves. by trying to kill a king whos killed so many of their own people.
if the intention of the show had been to give a poignant message about the cycle of abuse (morgana succumbing to bitterness and hatred just like uther) or how fear can control you (merlin eventually becoming essentially the bad guy, judging everybody who doesnt use magic the way he sees fit, staying silent and contributing to persecution of magic people because living in fear can make you paranoid and bitter (sound familiar?)) then i would applaud because wow did that make me fucking cry! and hit actually very close to home! and it was tragic and horrible but also inevitable
but as far as i can tell that was not at all the point, because in the end kilgharrah tells merlin the prophecy has been fulfilled, albion is united and magic returned! hurrah! but. um. did i miss something? when did that happen? oh, you mean when gwen is queen....? so.... gwen unites the land of albion and returns magic to the land? except, merlin seems to have lived on until the 21st century of our world and magic is not what i would call flourishing atm.
so i guess my question is... well actually i dont have a question. actually wait i do. what the fuck?

Hihihi i saw your reblog about calcium cat recently and... thank you for that! It was eye opening and confirmed some suspicions i had... and im sorry you dont have to post this ask if you dont want to, i just didnt know where else to go. I don't use tumblr often, very sorry if i am bothering you!
So, i used to be a big fan of calcium cat's, and when i learned from your reblog that she's not someone i want to associate myself with, i remembered that she and topazshadowwolf (someone who wrote some Dadmare and Soriel fics that I liked, i think they're well known in the community but im not sure?) were affiliated with one another, and topazshadowwolf has these two posts on their blog that arent outright queerphobic like calcium cat's posts. i wanted to see what your thoughts were on it as a second opinion because i dont want to judge them too hard, but i also got an icky feeling from these posts that i can't really explain. I dont want to cause trouble for them if they don't deserve it which is why i wanted to ask your opinion on it. And im on anon in case if it really is that bad...
https://www.tumblr.com/topazshadowwolf/738317097192603648/anon-i-am-not-going-to-reply-to-that-ask-i-dont?source=share
https://www.tumblr.com/topazshadowwolf/738292724279672832/i-didnt-want-to-say-this-but-its-been-bugging?source=share
Uhmm yeah thats about it. Sorry, you probably dont get asks like this that much, i really just didnt know what to do and didnt see anyone talking about it and thought i was going crazy, i wanted to ask someone. I am a queer person myself and i just felt like these posts were really off but idk why :(((
Sorry this took a bit to get to Anon, I legitimately had no idea who this person was. Also had to grapple with the fact that I'm apparently a big enough figurehead here to ask about discourse? Willlddd to me. I'm not used to this LOL.
Discourse under the cut
The first thing that strikes me as off is the fact that Cal commented on the ask linked in the first post you provided. Don't like that. Openly associating with someone who has been outed as an immensely bigoted trans/homophobe is.... not a good look.
However, in regards to that ask, I agree with some of what they were saying. School is a time to play at discovery, because you rarely remain who you were as a child. It's not a definitive thing. You can be adamant that you're one way in school, and once you leave it an broaden your horizons, you discover that you're another way. This ranges anything from sexualities, gender expression, to religion and belief systems. People grow and change.
As an aside, I don't agree that NM wouldn't support them if they claimed to be different from how they are as adults and wouldn't support them. No context given, but I assume the boys don't remember being adults. This means their growing experiences will be fundamentally different than they were as former adults because they are going through their childhood/adolescence in a wildly different way than they did underground. So constricting them to such a narrow scope seems... disingenuous at best.
Seems a might bit narrow-minded, but I wouldn't go screaming "transphobia" yet. Don't like the "if you feel like I disrespected you, leave" though. The correct response is to ask what you did that made someone feel that way.
Worthy of a side-eye, but unless someone presents solid proof (as with Cal's very damning twitter likes, yuck), bad vibes shouldn't be enough to try to cancel someone. I try to give the benefit of the doubt. I sincerely hope my general faith here is not misplaced.

Hey! I just saw your post about libraries, and I wanted to chime in. Speaking as a Palestinan Muslim librarian in Cook County, IL aka the county with the highest Palestinian population in the US, where a good majority of our patrons are Arab, the main reason our library doesn't hold programs that cater specifically to our Arab patrons is because they never show up.
Like your library, we have tons of 3arab kids who hang out after-school because the high school is down the street, and college kids who come to study but that's it. When we host, for example, video game night, or anime club, or study with a dog, anything really, we'll get 1 or 2 and the rest are predominantly White. The only 3arab demographic who consistently shows up (and this is the case in many libraries) are the moms with their toddlers. That's why we have bilingual story time and Eid/Ramadan crafts in the children's dept. It's habal for us to create programs in the adult and YA dept where I work when we never see the 3arab community turn out, and I so wish they would.
Libraries have a programming budget. We have to use it in a way that draws the most patrons to the library. It's great that you hang out but you also need to attend programs! If there's a specific program you want to see, let us know! Please! And then show up for it! We want to do what the community wants! We want you to show up! Complaining that there's nothing for you doesn't help us or the community at large.
I have personally created displays for Ramadan, for Arab American Heritage Month, for Palestinian authors as well as Pride, Halloween, Xmas, Hispanic Heritage, etc. Libraries are for everyone.
As for bias, that's everywhere, libraries included. If your library's collection isn't as diverse as it should be, speak up! Send an email! And keep an eye on your library board. See who's on it and vote the racists off.
Also. Just a little fun fact in case your library puts up Xmas decorations but not Ramadan. An excerpt from a BookRiot article: The fact of the matter is that not everybody celebrates Christmas or puts up a tree. We’ll skip the fact that the Christmas tree was appropriated from the Pagans and their Yule Tree. It is now so synonymous with the Christian faith that it’s hard to separate the two. You know what is supposed to be separate, though? Church and state.
That means that anything symbolic of a specific religion should not be prominently displayed in a government building. Libraries are funded by the government; therefore, that separation should extend to those buildings. And if a Christmas tree aligns with the Christian faith…you see where I’m going here.
TLDR: Complain politely to your library and show up for programs.
hey cook county! i have cook county family!
totally, i agree, do show up to events like I definitely definitely think that and i regret not mentioning it in my original post. libraries do rely on funding from people that show up but in my specific case of being in a very very conservative location.... it's not a consideration of who shows up. like actually people do show up to events, i see kids there all the time participating. and part of it is that muslim communities don't know they can ask for it or just dont know they're also welcome in these spaces but it also requires people to reach out and make it known that these are welcoming spaces contrary to the other public spaces that are very much. not welcoming.
I mean outreach is a problem that is hard to do, i won't deny that, and personally as someone who is working in the community that they grew up in (palestinian cultural heritage) it's not that hard for me and i fully acknowledge that.
and im not a public librarian i totally think librarians are like. the cool kids of "GLAM" like as a whole actually and do a lot of good work, but like cook county does have a different demographic of people than my personal library. i've gotten sneers and eyerolls from library staff in my area for asking questions when i was younger that kinda turned me off for a few years from interacting with them. and that's not a problem in every library, yeah, but it is definitely a problem for some.
it's definitely improved in recent years and theres been a push in many library spaces to ensure inclusivity and i absolutely love that in ways i don't see in other spaces. my post originally was more like... acknowledging that some people Are Racist in positions of leadership in libraries lol and that affects people's experiences that i think some people, depending on where they live, kinda need to acknowledge.
i know like something i'm trying to do also, (instead of just complaining lol) is host archive workshops with my muslim community at my masjid and letting them know theres ALLLLLL these resources you can use FOR FREE to let them know that you can participate in libraries and archives and you should! but there is the feeling of like "well that's not For Me" that i think a lot of muslims deal with internally and need to be reached out to first and not the other way around. but that also is reflective of the community at large too and how public events are catered to different people.

salam. i hope you are holding up ok w everything that is going on. i wanted to ask how you deal w being muslim and gay? i don't know anybody like me so it feels like i am a lonely unicorn. feel alienated by both my own community and the LGBT (i live in the west). i feel angry, lost etc. at both communities and i am often reluctant to practice my religion when i hear homophobic remarks etc. somehow i am too resigned to pray and then that feeling goes away and i go back to worshipping, esp when in crisis. i want to wear hijab as well but i realize that's only a response to my anger at westerners and one of the reasons i do not wear hijab is obv to avoid discrimination (i'm passing) in the professional field & also bc i think no gay woman will like me if i wear it. sorry if this question is too much, you don't have to answer, but if you have any experience or advice to share i would be grateful. thank you ❤️
hi angel .. im sorry for the late reply i had to run to an inspection when i got this i really hope u see it even though i dont know that i can offer much i just want to say im here for u.
i hope u are okay, the world is shaky and scary. im really happy u reached out to me and i think if u take anything from this it’s that reaching out is the first step. i wouldn’t say im at all entrenched in any community or fully at peace w who i am, that’s lifelong work, but it does get easier and sometimes u find little blessings in the people who show up. i feel the exact same way you do rn - alienated, angry, lost, at a crossroads. i often feel there’s no space for me anywhere and many lgbt muslims/religious gays in general feel the same especially when we’re young. i’ve also experienced periods where my faith slipped and i felt too defeated and betrayed to practice my religion fully or even in the smallest most private ways (until a few days ago i had not prayed for months since some very distressing things happened to me) but i always find myself coming back to it bc for me personally islam brings me immense comfort and grounds me, even or maybe especially after long periods of not being a “good muslim”. religion is a deeply personal thing no matter what everyone has told and will keep trying to tell u. the question is does it soothe you? does it bring you peace and comfort? away from everyone else’s eyes, do you feel connected to something higher when you take the time to do these designated rituals? i really think that’s the only thing that matters. and you might not have an answer for that rn or for a long time and that’s ok too, no one has everything figured out. stay away as much as you can from ppl u aren’t forced to be around who try to tell you how to be lgbt how to be muslim how you can’t be both etc. they’re just parroting what they think to be true and they don’t realise how draining it can be for others. protect yourself and listen to yourself. be careful what u share with whom. those r the biggest lessons i’ve learned and the only thing that’s helped make the burden feel lighter is finding other people like you and trust me when i tell u they exist!!! u just have to be a little braver and more intentional in seeking them out, if u can do so safely, bc like you they probably feel that they are alone and there’s no one else who will understand. (and when u find them, hear them out, share a little bit, but remember they are there for a sense of shared community, a delicate connection, not as a strict guide on how YOU need to be; only you decide that and that becomes easier w time)
now depending on where u are it may not be feasible to do so - i spent most of my life as an immigrant in qatar, a very small country w a death penalty or best case scenario deportation “solution” for people like us, where the idea of finding community was not only unthinkable but also seemed straight up ridiculous to me. i never tried looking, i wouldnt encourage doing so if ur in a western country that is similarly rigid unless u know what ur doing and have a support network. in this case all i can recommend is to reach out to organisations that sympathise if there are any, and hang on until ur in a safe space. BUT if there is no such threat to ur daily life, i really really urge u to seek out others like u.. and it’s likely you’ll have to look outside ur immediate circle. at first you won’t know where to look, i didn’t, i tried looking through uni, through apps, through meetups, groups specifically run by lgbt people of colour/marginalised lgbt ppl, and it will take time and a lot of trial and error and at times even ‘desperate’ or embarrassing attempts, at least it did for me. i got lucky by finding friends through friends and then friends of friends of friends etc who were like me and while i definitely wouldn’t say i connected w all of them or even liked all of them or that i have a stable network of other lgbt muslims (most of the ones i met live really far away and meetups are extremely rare but whenever i do talk to them it’s really healing) it really does help to know that somewhere not too far, u have someone who understands. so reach out. it’s hard and gruelling and isolating work but that’s the first and main thing to do to combat these unpleasant feelings of loneliness and anger. i wrestle w very complicated and conflicting things on a daily basis that most of my immediate circle couldn’t even begin to understand, so don’t do the mistake of sitting on it forever.
as for other people, gay women, muslims, whoever, i don’t have much experience here w the latter because im mostly focused on sorting myself out first before trying to fully integrate into like, being w other women in that capacity, and maybe im taking a little longer than i’d like but the good that comes out of this is im a lot less concerned about what other people have to say to me abt my identity. if gay women don’t like me bc of my hijab or my religion i really don’t gaf, they’re obviously not meant for me. don’t cater yourself to anyone but yourself, this goes for both sides. u don’t need to appease the gays by shutting down your religion and u don’t need to appease the muslims by believing u are wrong and an abomination. u were created this way, gay and it seems like u have a sort of tether to ur religion, how is that ur fault or something for u to adjust? the right people will come and the wrong ones will make it obvious (inshallah very quickly). and sometimes in our situation we find ourselves loving and deeply caring for people who just really don’t get it. that’s not ur fault either or something to resent! im starting to enjoy thinking of it as a variety. just do ur best to make sure these ppl are looking out for u and genuinely care for ur well-being even if they don’t really “get” you. and if u have no choice in the matter, hold on to the hope that people who DO get you are coming. islam is the connection between you and allah - that’s it. drown out everything else and don’t let noises distract you from that. i personally wear a hijab because it’s a part of who i am and makes me feel more protected (in a spiritual sense, i am of course very aware now that i live in australia that on a social level it can make me more of a target but i have not been threatened yet to the point of where im forced to remove it. u are not a bad muslim for choosing not to wear it, whatever ur reasoning is).
god gave us a tricky life, one can only theorise why, but what i do know is there are very few people on this earth who will understand u completely, even other lgbt muslims, and even fewer who will have ur best interest at heart. inshallah u find those few sooner rather than later, and remember the point is to let others lighten the load because this is a heavy thing to carry all by yourself. even online ppl in the same position will help. u have me 🧡 i am not experienced or developed enough to offer much more beyond this but i hope you can find some clarity and peace and i hope this helps in even a tiny way. i feel for you

the batman page is all snippets from i think old forums (1992-2007), which is interesting! but not really a source. i remember seeing a comic page once possibly years ago where bruce says that hes a catholic turned atheist but cant for the life of me figure out where that would be from.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
screenshotting any comic names i find bc uh. sunken cost fallacy or something. nothing to do with any lapsed catholic angst. totally.
Tumblr media
also when was batman scottish. like this is an absolute first im hearing about this.
Tumblr media
and this is an interesting bit. unrelated to religion but interesting nonetheless.
Tumblr media
this one i just think is funny. also i know jewish bruce is popular bc smth smth his mom may have technically been jewish. only provable via maternal cousin but like. right. you could technically argue for it technically being accidentally canon. i have 2 things to say on it (but i will preface with im not jewish myself, so like. dont take me as a source or anything)
1) the amount of random moments and quotes that allude to christianity and/or atheism are both more present and go back further
2) catholicism (and the rest of america) is patriarchal. catholic dad means those kids are raised at least some kind of christian in most cases
(and a bonus third point. really? i get wanting rep, but bruce? why would you want him of all people.)
(wait. wait bonus forth point. what is with the people bringing up kate being jewish, not so that they can talk about her being jewish, but instead so that they can talk about bruce potentially being jewish. like whats up with that.)
oh and as far as i know both catholics and jews do circumcision. so the one thing we do know is that hes cut lol
holy shit is it fun reading a bunch of comic book nerds arguing with each other about religion. ive just barely hit the halfway point.
Tumblr media
i feel like ive seen similar conversations happen throughout bruces comic appearances. cant really die on any hill until i actually read the books though.
Tumblr media
"the majority of people from [place] are [religion]" is NOT a source forum user "commish"
Tumblr media
the sites notes correcting the forum users are so funny
not posting screenshots but oh my god the debate about whether theres more gay rep than christian rep in DC in 2006.
oh and theres the explicit antisemitism. im almost surprised it took until 2006 for people to start talking about how they hate minorities.
Tumblr media
they added a note just to bring up this guys icon i know it
Tumblr media
wait no that sounds adorable. wheres my angel bat daughter helping the homeless and pounding down on bad guys. auhg. i finally find a batgirl story i might be interested in and its just a scrapped concept. sob. "a little bit old testament" why is that cute...... everyone shut up im caring about cass for the first time rn

Public service announcement… because as someone who has used mobility aids to help with my POTS and fibromyalgia.
Do not and I mean DO NOT… pray for me…
What seems harmless and may seem like people expressing their care and concern… is actually a form of proselytization.
To proselytize is the act of attempting to convert someone into a religion or different opinion.
While yes, I grew up southern baptist. (Have forever been really questioning though.) It is NEVER okay to try to convince or pray for somebody whom you do not know their belief system.
Especially if it’s someone like me who is disabled and you “pray” for me to be cured 😡
Small story time:
Over the holidays, my chronic illness was acting up but I still wanted to spend time with my family to see the Lights in OC. So for long distances, depending on how much pain I’m in that day. I either use my cane, wheelchair, or braces to help get me by.
Well, not long after getting to OC and stopping for food. Two “Christians” began to try to “help” me and to “pray” my disability away 😑
1. Not very Christian-like to pray for an illness that I will have for the rest of my life to be gone like God can fix that. This gives off the same energy as people who have told me in the past “there are no wheelchairs in heaven”. Not only is this extremely fucked up to tell me. But it leads me to further believe that God doesn’t love those with disabilities and that’s simply not or shouldn’t be the fucking case.
2. Also if I’m struggling, I WILL ASK FOR HELP. I do NOT need anyone’s help unless I SPECIFICALLY ASK. My mobility aid is an EXTENSION of ME. It’s like touching my arm when I hardly know you. DO NOT TOUCH ME OR MY MOBILITY AIDS WITHOUT MY SAY SO. And ESPECIALLY DONT CORNER ME. This does way more harm than good.
Another story time (UNRELATED TO RELIGION):
I went to ANOTHER set of lights in Rehobeth where this time I was in my wheelchair with my best friend’s family. Some guy had the audacity to tell his wife that I didn’t belong there… Wanna know why? Because he said “what was the point in her being here if she can’t do anything” 🤬
Ambulatory wheelchair users EXIST!
JUST BECAUSE YOU DONT OR REFUSE TO SEE US DOESNT MEAN WE DONT EXIST!
Also heaven should ALSO be disability accessible. And if you fucking think, that “yeah, when everyone goes to heaven they are their perfect selves!” “There are no wheelchairs, disabilities in heaven”
Actually sit on a cactus… Rethink and reprocess that line of thinking because I PROMISE YOU there is a deeper line of thinking than just that… The Bible has constantly been retranslated over and over again and if you honestly don’t think that ableist ideas haven’t been written into it, I don’t know what to tell you. it’s one of the MANY reasons why I don’t go to any church anymore or follow ANY group’s train of thought is because of the ABLEIST nonsense I have heard in the past from churches and fucking pastors AND HAVE HEARD RECENTLY AT A FUNERAL OF ALL PLACES!
AND OF YOU WANNA KNOW SOMETHING THATS NOT FUCKING SHOCKING TO ME AT ALL TO PROVE MY FUCKIMG POINT.
Churches are not obligated to follow the rules of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ☺️
What a fucking shocker.
If you were truly Christian you would fucking DO BETTER.

Hello!! I came back to see if you had seen the ask and saw that you've answered it, I'll try to get my thoughts to make sense, if you have any questions I'm very happy to answer (sidenote I'm sorry if you can't understand any part of this, my first language is not English)
Firstly, Hellenic polytheism, the religion that ancient greece followed, is a semi open *religion*, this doesn't mean that greek culture is "open"
Greek people find it weird when non Greeks use our culture (the only time we don't is marrying into a greek family, which you are not)
The reason that this isn't widespread is because most greek people are on the brink of homelessness and don't have the time to tell people, especially people on the internet (most greek people who have an issue with it dont even know English((70% of greek people))so they *couldn't* tell you)
Also, your name being specifically from greek mythology is the problem
New greek names come from all over the world (example being Γιώργος which is taken from George or Γιάννης which is taken from John)
Mythological greek names are purely greek, which greek people find it weird when non Greeks just decide to use greek names out of nowhere (liking the name and/or the meaning isn't a solid reason)
all the greek people I know agree with this, which is a lot of people because I live in Greece
As someone who's born and raised in Greece, it makes us uncomfortable
While it isnt "closed culture", greek people don't like it when non Greeks use our names if they aren't given them by a greek person
Also, this point doesn't have anything to do with this mostly but we don't appreciate that you listen to an someone who, to your knowledge, is not greek and hasnt spoken to any people without much hesitation (I'm sorry if I'm misinterpreting)
Alright I think I understand. Partially anyways. Because it's not out of nowhere that people started using Greek mythological names so I don't really get that point. It's largely because many parts of Greek culture have been pretty widespread. Partially because in the past Greece colonized many other countries, and therefore spread a lot of Greek religion and culture to other places. That's not the case anymore so it's mainly older Greek names, such as mythological names, that are now more widespread.
Also not really getting the point about homelessness and non-english speaking rates? The homelessness rates are very high in Greece but it's not the majority of Greece like you are stating, and Greece has from what I can find, over half of the country speaks english. So I do kind of get why there would be less Greeks speaking on it because of that, but I still am confused as to why I'm not finding *anything* on it anywhere. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just want the opinion of more than one person and I'm not finding anything at all.
Also I'm not listening to non Greek people about it. I'm sharing my confusion on the subject with them, because this is the first and only place I've heard of this.
Again though, if you have name suggestions go right ahead. Because if it is really a problem, which from what you're saying it seems to be, I'll change my name. But it took a very long time for me to find a name I felt comfortable with and I have yet to find any other name that fits me, so it's not going to be an immediate switch.

Even in games like HIB do mention buddha like its as simple as that
Hell if they don’t want to literally names dropped him, they could have alluded d to him by saying his tittle like “the enlightened one.”
Its the dissonance that makes lmk stands out more so than the others jttw adaptations. Especially when we the audience doesn’t know IF swk is a buddha here. (He might be a bodhisavtta but since they have yet to name dropped guanyin, i dont think they will)
Jttw as whole does balance these two religions and able to showcased them as is. The refusal to allude other religions besides daoism just raised eyes on lmk n their decisions in this aspect. (Esp when swk IS the victorious fighting buddha and great sage equal to heaven. The way that characters goes out their way to avoid saying his actual name or his better well known tittles is bit weird. Esp when it very important to his character moreso than being the monkey king ever was)
like imagine building up to this title that you ever accomplished in life only to never be refer to that bc they see your first job ever first and the rest never to be acknowledged.
Like hell buddha and swk does have a connection here that in lmk seem to be nonexistent to uphold the narrative of JE is bad!! (When that just a poor dude in head management of a corporation.) it a questionable decision esp it seem like recon (bc lmk did mention buddha in like s1 and the usual narrative of how havoc on heaven goes. Like swk being trap in the furnace.)
His lmk character feels like hes just another flanderized goku. Hes just a messed of a character once you look past his goofiness and compare him to others swk. He does not uphold well—for this to be known as westerners first introduction to xiyouji (apart from OSP) it just sad that he could not be as complex as he should have been.(he can be something other than goofy-other than traumatized mess but he can do so good as much he had harmed)
Its kinda sad for being a protector of children, he had ended up being portrayed as irresponsible n a threat(bc of his various blunders)
Rip swk pissing in buddha fingers scene. You shall be missed
I think they could have done a lot with Lego Monkie Kid Wukong if they have given him the time he needed. They have a strong foundation of a plot to show Wukong has a mentor role but it looked like they rather a sacrifice character building for drama and shock value...
I’m not sure if he does have his other titles but considering I saw someone say that the “Great Sage” title was a reference to Xiyouji rather than that being his name… insane really. Like... just now knowing that is his NAME!
I'm not trying to bank on LMK on teaching people about Xiyouji like it's not meant for that... but at the same point, it's crazy to me to think that a Xiyouji piece of media is making 'references' to the original media despite it being in the same universe where everything happened like... of course it's going to reference the original source material. It is literally canon in the story that it happened.
And yeah them brushing off Wukong is also a monk and a Buddha... it's more strange than anything cause he is immortal... and the rest of the pilgrims should have also been immortal so I hope they touch why THAT isn't the case but... I feel like there are just going to be a lot of plotholes left unanswered for 'the reader's interpretation.' Like why did Wukong go on the journey if it wasn't his redemption arc for him to finally see that he had gone too far? Or why have the Jade Emperor defeat him when it just shows that it was about strength and not about ideologies? Again I've seen bad guy Jade Emperorbefore and here it looks like they are trying for a 'there is more going on' angle but... idk... just so many things that are not being played out or being far too rushed to be really fleshed out.
Which I feel like is the show's biggest weakness with Wukong. They are so busy rushing the plot they never give time to flesh him or even other characters out. He isn't the one that suffers from that which is a shame cause the show does have a lot of charming characters too!
I don’t know… I like the show but I think I'm going to just enjoy that I can and hopefully... things might get better this time... but maybe I just got to accept that they are never going to give their own characters the development or time they need.
A real shame.

Hii, I've read/seen almost anything about your high fantasy story project on Tumblr, and so I wanted to ask some questions.😅 Do you have a map for this world? And the Empire? I wonder what other countries/cultures there are, and will we see any interractions with ppl from other countries and our royal children? I don't have any other social media accounts so I don't know abt the parts you've shared more on other platforms, if you did, so idk that much about the other main characters either.
What are the different kingdoms/nations that are under the Empire's control now? Are they treated well? And you mention other species/races sometimes, where do they originate from or where do they live? Do they have their own countries or do they live in forests etc?
I'm sorry, it's just I'm loving your character work and worldbuilding so far, and I want to learn more. I think you've done a great job at crafting this world and the cultures and all the details!💚🤍
Hi! Thank you for your interest! I am really bad at posting the info consistently in one place, so thank you for being patient enough to search for it! I have a sketch of the Map, but I dont want to post it until I finish writing the plot. In case, I would need to change some details for the story. There are a lot of cuts and switching details back and forth. Yes, there are other cultures, and it will be shown a little in story. Some characters in the main cast are people from foreign cultures by origin. Empire currently has 11 provinces, 10 of which formed out of joined/conquered lands. They are quite different in culture, they treated differently depending on their importance and loyalty to the Emperor. Even though central power allows people to continue practice their own customs, they try to maintain same set of laws and administrative structure everywhere. Yes, I have other species/races. And they will be shown in the story as well. Humans are dominant sentient species, but a few others also were able to preserve their own states. It is believed that humans are the youngest ones, and in many human religions it is stated that other species were children of Old Gods, which create natural conflict between them and humans. (Other species usually don`t agree with this understanding.) About interesting places, I have one species that live in crystal caves most of the year, and they build underground cities. ;) Thank you so much! I am trying my best to actually write the story, so I can share it not only in random sketches and texts.

this has already been asked before im sure, but the dimorphism in your species made me wonder how being trans worked in their cultures? like what would transitioning look like, and how would the cultures accept trans people, etc. this isnt me looking for something to get mad at dw, im just curious cause i love thinking through spec bio species worldbuilding stuff too
no one asked this before and I really like this one because I often think of it a lot since I'm trans too. I thought because gender is a socially constructed thing that we humans made, then maanuls and kyhuines wouldn't really understand the idea of having that and would have a mostly gender-natural society despite their sexual dimorphism. I then think cases of transgender individuals might be less common because of that gender-neutral society, but even with that trans individuals still exist.
It's already not uncommon to have a male cutting down its feathers to have a more sleek silhouette in appreciation of how generally females look, or a female wearing gear that is typically more often worn by males just because they enjoy the look of it. Some individuals may even cross-dress and dye feathers just for fun and performances. So one who decides to transition into looking like what opposite sex usually look like wouldn't be weird to the colony.
Would they be accepted? Of course, both species wouldn't see the issue of one of their members being trans. since as mentioned before anyone can do what they want with how they represent themselves, as they don't care about gender. They even have deities that can shift from one sex to another, other diety being unisex, or some not having any "gendered pronouns" (note that i think gendered words would be quite rare in languages). so they will even compare trans people to that mythical figure and will consider that as a sort of divine gift/luck for the colony. Both species even have a folkloric festival where they dress up as the opposite sex to celebrate their own species and appreciate how both sexes can also form one (religion lore stuff). what the species care about is their colony thriving and being happy, so one being trans would be one of the last things they would care about, plus if said person wants to transition physically because it makes them happy then its welcome.
How would they transition? First of all, they wouldn't need to change their name. In both languages the names are unisex, a gendered name would be something they would find quite silly.
But physically, it depends on the individual, some who desire to look more like how males generally look can dye their feathers to look as vibrant as them, or in the opposite way dye them to look dull. Specific to kyhuines: A kyhuine who desires to have the same bumpy eye "horns" as cis females can wear fake wooden carved ones that sits on their head. There isn't a standard of "looking good enough like x gender", one individual can simply do what they want until they feel like their true self.
Some trans individuals might not even transition physically at all, like i said its a pretty gender-neutral society so gender dysphoria would be quite rare if not non-existent since there's no standard of what to look like even if you're cis. Its just that there's stuff one gender might lean into in some region more than the other, like how males usually go for more absurd amount of jewelry and flashy things which is related to before they were sentient where males needed to get the females attention, now they just do it because males typically love having the attention of everyone with their look.
But back to individuals who dont change anything about their body, a lot of the time they will just ask to redo their rite of adulthood. which is a ceremony they do when they reach full adult stage, said ceremony varies a lot from one region to another. In this case they ask to redo their rite but now as their true gender, which in most case the ceremony isn't much different but its important to the individual because in their heart they know who they are now. it's a sort of transition but on the spiritual side, almost like being reborn.
not transgender individuals but just some stuff id like to add/mention for fun: there already have been male kyhuines that had a higher amount of testosterone than the average when they reached adulthood, resulting in them having some sort of underdeveloped horns and traits you'd usually see in females (yes females are the ones with more T equivalent, they're bigger and stronger, they usually have stronger legs and males are more "frail" looking). Same thing with females having less T resulting in less noticeable horns if none at all. . Some female maanuls/kyhuine might develop brighter feathers due to hormonal issues, same for males who can end up never having their bright feathers. But them having these irregularities never made them less good than the others. Again, these people would get associate with dieties that are genderless, unisex, or the ones that shift.

Your tags on that zodiac post reminded me that while yeah, my experience is that astrology girlies are usually white women, I have absolutely run into white women and WOC alike who argued that criticizing astrology being used for serious things like job interviews and as physiognomy is racism bc the ancestors of non-white nations practiced astrology 😭
Oh god no 😭😭😭😭
The queers are not surviving the cult boom this generation's going through 😪
Girlies, is it progressive to defend a pseudoscience that's used to discriminate against people for being born in the wrong month just because it's been in the cultures of brown people?
Like the only time I've ever taken a step back and looked at zodiacs in a progressive political lense was when I was in the talking stages with an Indian guy and he asked the cliche what's your sign kind of opener and when I gave my response of like "this is my sign but I don't believe in this stuff" he responded like "yeah i dont really buy into it either but it's a big thing in my country and the Hindu religion" and I kinda took a step back for a second and had a moment of 'is he gonna get offended if i argue against this' before I said something like "even still that doesn't make it real" and he was like "yeah i completely agree" and we moved on to a different topic
And like I do think sometimes there is a white liberal "afraid to tell the poc they're wrong for fear of looking racist" kind of energy towards astrology and especially the American liberal attitude towards it, but ultimately there will be things fully entrenched within a culture of color that is harmful, because even if they've been colonized and subjugated they're still human beings who will make mistakes and missteps along the way and in the case of India in particular they actually teach astrology in universities and treats it as if it's a real science on a national level, which I hope you can all obviously see as extremely harmful to the people living there
Just because astrology has been adopted by people of color and has become entrenched within those cultures does not make it any more valid than the Christianity American queers love to denounce so much
It's just so funny to me when people who claim to want to go against the idea that you have to live your life a certain way and have a certain set of beliefs and have to be born a certain way to be "right" would fully let themselves be suckered into something that is exactly what they say they're against, placing people into boxes and assigning them attributes based solely on the position of the stars on the day they were born, like how is that any different than looking at a person of color and assigning them a personality based solely on the color of their skin?
Astrology is a pseudoscience that has been debunked over and over and over and over and over again, we have more proof that astrology is fake than we have ever had proof that astrology does anything at all except offer another way to discriminate against people, it is no different from phrenology and if you rightfully denounce phrenology as the racist pseudosciene it is then you should also have no issue denouncing astrology, neither are based in scientific fact and are instead weapons used to hurt people, if you think that being into astrology is somehow for queers and poc you're a dumbass that needs to read some actual scientific articles

Christian thingies!!
GO DRINK SOME WATER FIRST main thing of the post: If you are like me a Christian struggling with having time or forgetting to take time for God GLORIFY APP is actually so nice, highly recomend. It can take you like 5 mins or so and there's an option that u can listen, so if u r doing something u can sorta like play it in the background or something. hope it helps someone ----- the rest is just ramble, you can ignore it. - I AM a christian But my actions don't define christianity bec I'm just a human. and actually no human can be the definition of any religion, I'm not the most perfect christian, but that doesn't cancel the fact that I believe in God. (I'm saying that bec im tired of being judged bec i don't act "christian enough" according to some people) i'm human and im born with flaws!!! >:C So as a person who's born a christian I have gone to many churches. I've discovered that every church is different, some are boring i'd rather die than attend and some are too fun it makes u dont want to leave for some reason, in my case the closest church to my home is like 10 mins away and its a bit boring and awkward while my fav. one is 2 hours away and it's perfect - tho i dont know anyone there - As an introvert it's been hard bec I don't like praying out loud or participating in activities and it's so hard for me to make friends bec church people here in my coutry are strict and you never know what to expect if you opened up to them about some stuff, plus i already have trust issues lol. so anyways, and Im not the type to pretend im a good girl in church and act different outside (not anymore) so I don't have church friends and i don't attend as much as i like and so I dont get encouraged to read the bible anymore or even listen to anything that have to do with that, bec tbh my brain is always like "we want something fun" yano.. like a human's brain ... so anyways i've discovered this app. Glorify, and it's so calming and sweet, and im trying it so i hope it makes a difference, I kinda stopped having high expectations, and forcing myself to act good bec it only makes me dislike it more and i know im doing it wrong bec i feel forced to pray and worship and all that, cuz im sure im supposed to enjoy it. but to be realistic it's almost impossible to enjoy it as there are some obstacles in my case like being anxious to talk in a crowd or the distance as i said or having other things that i gotta do ... sooooo I'm trying .. I'll see how it goes.
