okay so, the comment thing? maybe i hear things different than the way people say but what i hear is "this is basically an essay except that this time you actually care about the subject" so, here, i've written all that people've told me in here :

opening : say you liked it (ie. "this was great", etc), say what characteristic you liked (ie. "funny, cute", etc), insert emotional response (ie. "i laughed so hard", etc)

corpus : add details : mention and/or quote the parts you liked, the parts that were particularly in-character, etc.

tips and tricks :

* you can copy/paste the parts you want to quote directly into the comment box for when you get to it

* they wrote the thing, they know what happens, so you can also just say "when that one did that thing, you know"

* you can take notes on stray paper/your phone to help flesh out your corpus

conclusion : wrap it up, usually by repeating all you've just said but in tl;dr format.

additional tip and trick :

*taking time to process all that happened in the story might be beneficial to you expressing your opinion.

alternately : just screech at them, actual words optional.

(say, erm, did we all learn to do essays the same way or did i just make myself look stupid?)

I’ve talked about how I hyperfixate on my crafts in waves, but it’s honestly been a while since I’ve had a true hyperfixation.

Like, two months. Of anything.

And the last hypefixation was a novel that had driven me insane with it’s - competent but not good please stop hitting me over the head would it kill you to have some nuance??? writing.

Anyway… 😜

I’ve been dabbling with the idea of leather crafting for about a month now. I’ve sewn a ton, but the medium’s different enough. Particularly cost wise, woof good leather’s a commitment!

Especially since I haven’t found anything within an hour’s drive that sells anything other than “genuine leather” (translation: the hot dog of leather).

But I finally decided to order some mid-quality stuff online.

And I. Am. Giddy!!!

I’ve only ever really noticed my chest tightening and inner elbows tingling as a “stress” indicator. But I’m thinking it’s just an “anxious” psychosomatic thing because even with expedited shipping (which I never do!) it’ll be a week before I get my goodies.

And Iwannum I wannum I wannum!!! 🤪

So, I was questioning whether my crafts etc. really qualified as a “special interest” or hyperfixation.

I think the giggling is putting my mind at ease. 😊

Escaped clone au

You know all those fics where Danny and Damian are twins but everyone first assumes Danny must be a clone? How about an au where Danny is Damian's clone who escaped the League after he was assumed dead. Damian could even have been the one to have "killed" him, back when Danny was a newly created, fully brainwashed clone minion and trying to kill Damian himself.

Danny gets adopted by the Fentons and canon goes on as normal, until Dan. Witnessing what would happen to the world should he turn evil really drove home to Danny how dangerous he is.

Even if he was confident he could be trusted with his absurd amount of power (which he isn't), what if the League of Assassins found out about him? Does he still have programming triggers from his evil assassin clone conditioning?

So, Danny does the responsible thing: he goes to Batman to turn himself in.

Cue Danny showing up on Bruce's doorstep with ghost hunting equipment, intel on the afterlife, and an almost unbelievable backstory. Somehow he still managed to be more well-adjusted than Damian.

Here's how I'm thinking Danny leaving the League went down:

After surviving his wounds but failing his mission, Danny (then an unnamed potential Damian replacement) knew there was no point in returning to the League. As a failure, he was meant to be disposed of. He even thought of simply allowing himself to perish, since that was what the League would do.

But he couldn't help but feel as though that would be a waste of a resource. Surely he could be of more use to the League alive than dead?

That tiny bit of rebellious logic is what caused Danny to go into hiding, only living on based on the off chance he would find opportunities to further the League's goals. Obviously, that mentality didn't last long after being exposed to the real world and meeting one Jazz Fenton.

Being adopted by the Fentons was the best cover Danny could have asked for, since any odd behavior he couldn't hide while he was learning how to be "normal" was totally overshadowed by the sheer bizarre eccentricity of his new parents. He was still the neighborhood weird kid, but even that was a major upgrade from disposable tool, so Danny considered it a win.

It was such a small deal that was never brought up again, but Alastor doesn’t make deals he doesn’t come out on top with. This seemingly harmless deal could prevent Vaggie from asking Alastor to help them against Vox.

Of course, that would then beg the question why Alastor wouldn’t want to actively fight Vox and if it has anything to do with their best friend photo that was ripped in half.
