OOOH happily, i've posted a little bit about it here, and between "I'm So Lonely and You're the Only One That Knows Me," this is the only other fic that I've been working on (mainly bc i started my a/b/o charlos one but then got distracted by having to do a bunch of looking into the race schedule for Reasons tm

More below the cut because i LOVE monologuing

The long and short of it is as follows, Charles and Carlos are teammates first, it's normal, everything is fine. Really, they're both incredibly good at ignoring their feelings, both masquerading as straight, both pretending they're completely normal. They run into each other at a sex club/dungeon (which really is a word I despise using but whatever) and Carlos has the most REELING experience in his life when he sees Charles down on his knees for someone, pretty and perfect and everything he wishes he could have, and that's just...that. He can't stop thinking about it, can't stop orbiting around Charles, and it becomes something more.

It starts off as a D/s relationship, before they both become increasingly unable to be normal about each other, and end up getting married about 1.5 years into whatever the hell they have going on. And then it's all well and good for a while before mid-way into the 2023 season, which is kinda where everything goes to shit. (i'd love to have it go to shit in the mattia era but then they really wouldn't have had time for things to develop between them)

I'll likely be following the 2023 season as closely as possible but we'll see based on timelines. Anyways, a combination between them fighting on the track, and a scene that just kinda goes sideways because Carlos gets a little out of hand and Charles has to safe out and just RUNS, Carlos starts pulling away, because it's the only thing he knows how to do.

Charles asks if he wants a divorce, he says yes in a panic, because he doesn't know what else to say, and it spools out from there.

The premise of the fic is them realizing they never stopped loving each other to begin with, and that they just hit the worst of a hard patch and stopped trusting each other. With the handy-dandy help of the ferrari media team (HAVE YOU SEEN THE BLINDFOLDED TRACK DRIVING VIDEOS?!?!) they find a way back to making it work again.

BECAUSE i am who i am, and I don't trust myself to write multichaps, this is probably going to be one long-ass oneshot, HOWEVER, I may break it up into a few chapters because i have so much background information i want to explore with them and the dynamics of their relationship.

Especially because i definitely have a scene planned where Charles gets upset bc no one doms him the way Carlos doms him so 🤭

The worst part is that sometimes he simply forgets how calculating Charles can be. It was easier when their relationship went hand in hand with Charles’ submission, because when Charles was on his knees, head resting in Carlos’ lap, he was his most transparent. He never turned the calculation towards Carlos unless they were on the track. 

And maybe it brought false hope, a false sense of security. Maybe it was his mistake for letting his guard down, for thinking love was enough to shield him.

gosh i don't even know they all pretty much have the "and they lived happily ever after" vibe at the end i'm a sucker for sweet stuff what can i say??

i've gotten a couple weird comments from peeps who don't know how to read tags but those go straight in the trash, good vibes only

me?? smut?? never!!! lmao i like it all, the kinkier the better. one of my most proudest smut scenes i've written involved some super sweet fisting. i love stuff that's fucking depraved but still with a good undercurrent of softness. love it when they're gross and in love

i haven't!! generally can only focus on one fandom at a time so i don't know that i ever will but i love a good crossover fic

not as far as i know!! just waiting for the day that i see my art on like pinterest or smth, tho

oh smut, probably. my fav thing to write , too, so it makes sense. tho i've heard from multiple sources that my kiss scenes are good, but those usually lead up to the smut anyways lololol

hmm, scene transitions or points where i need the mood to shift dramatically. usually skip around those and write them later during the second draft

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

it's cool!! i'm lame and don't know any other written languages so i prolly never would do it for fear of mistranslating smth but it's neat to see, especially when it's the author's native language

technically i think way back when i worte a lil thing for the gemma doyle series, did not think of it as fanfic at the time, tho

cyclical!! that one was a BEAST but i'm stupidly proud of her. as it is a time loop fic it was THE angstiest thing i've ever written but i had a great time making it.

confessions should be better planned this little oneshot really challenged my storytelling and how to convey my sense of humor. i’m very proud to say that it ended up exactly how i wanted. 

enough of both another oneshot that i put together for ttb summer soireé, the idea of harry and ginny as newlyweds is so so interesting to me and i like the idea of them writing letters during their brief bouts of long distance

what we had become (before we ever had begun) this was a brain worm that Would Not Leave Me Alone until i finally wrote it all down. it was my first contribution to jilytober (even though it’s jilypad) and i think i’m most proud that i not only wrote it but had the courage to post, because it is not my usual content. 

already gone i dove headfirst into the angst, which has never felt like a strength of mine, and decided to fully commit to the bit. this one surprised me so much, i have no outline, no real plan, i am pantsing the shit out of it and i love it so so much

the path from you 104,000 words, two spin offs, and twelve chapters later, the universe that lives in my mind because of this fic has completely taken over my life. and we are only half done. i love the journey harry and ginny are on and i love that so many other people love it too

the path from you PART 2 - i really want to finish part one by april and kickstart part 2 (neville/pansy & ron/padma) by the second half of the year

spring fever - a contribution to @hpknotfest that is self-indulgent smut and i’m not gonna be ashamed about it LOL

ginny potter and the honeymoon of horrors - i’ve mentioned this one in passing several times and i really *really* like it. it is so stupid and so fun. 

a crack fic that i am writing with @nuatthebeach ... no comment

your top 3 biggest improvements in your writing over the past year

drafting - though i still want to get better at drafting, i am miles ahead of where i was a year ago. i have really embraced the imperfect first draft and my writing is so much better for it

plotting - i used to be a pantser through and through, but tackling a multichap action fic forced me to actually outline. 

prose - this is so general but i really feel like the rhythm and emotion in my exposition has improved. i’ve found new ways of saying things and added so much depth to my characters because of it. 

your top 2 resolutions (ways you wish to improve your writing/blog) for the new year

i really want to be a better problem solver, i know i have a good imagination but when what i outlined doesn’t immediately work on the page i get really discouraged, so i want to be more creative in working through my bouts of writer's block

along the same lines, i’d like to be able to *trust* my decision making and not constantly need outside reassurance for my story decisions.. (i really need to thank @narukoibito @nuatthebeach and @fairsquare16 for helping me through this year. i could not have done any of this without them)

Yep! I am behind from a couple fics but I've been responding on my current multichap and i WILL one day catch up, even if it'll be two years late.

I haven't written a single angsty ending lol

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Currently, I'd say You and My Hometown just because it's the angstiest complete fic I have and the end goes a few years ahead in their happily ever after.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yeah sometimes. A couple backhanded compliments, too. Sometimes I wish people would just stop reading it, and if they feel like they have to finish, at least stop commenting if they're not liking it.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I don't consider myself a smut writer, because I tend to think of smut as a separate genre, if that makes sense? I definitely write some smutty scenes, but I don't write pwp or smut for smut's sake (thank you to those of you who do, truly doing the lord's work).

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I don't, but there is a Descendants AU in my Schitt's WIP folder lmfao.

No, thank god.

No, but I have written as part of a group project where we each wrote a chapter: The Blouse Barn Divorce Ranch.

It honestly is probably firstprince. I've been so in love with them for four years, the book truly changed my life.

The Schitt's Creek superhero AU. When I tell you that the plot twist I had planned for that was gonna be so good... RIP.

Also my Schitt's Creek apocalypse AU that I had written the beginning and ending for and could never get the middle right ugh.

Working in canon elements. Which, maybe I should focus on plot and characters instead if I ever want to publish original work whoops.

Descriptions. I don't visualize when I read, so I never really bother with mundane descriptions when I write. I need to remember some readers do need those details when reading, even if I don't.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I won't do it unless it's something I can run by a native speaker.

I honestly don't even know. Maybe Buffy?

Even If it's Just Pretend. It's been such a labor of love and some of my absolute favorite lines are in it.

But also the Schitt's Creek Penelope AU, The Rumors Are Terrible and Cruel. I love Penelope so much and weaving that in with some of my favorite characters was such a blast. I wish more people had read it lol.

Hello! First I would like to say I ADORE your art and the story building around your character and how they interact with Astarion it makes me feel so inspired to keep writing my own stuff!

I did have a couple of questions about your writing process Do you outline, plot, and plan your chapters or do you just write as you go? How do you personally get better at describing within your stories?

I have been struggling not to compare myself to others' writing, but it feels so hard when I look at my own writing, and it feels inadequate in comparison. I wonder if you ever felt like this and how you overcame it.

Thank you! My writing process depends. For the bg3 fics I'm doing, I kind of have a general idea of certain beats I want to hit so I'm kind of just generally following that. The reason I haven't done a proper multichapter for bg3 and am just doing a series of loosely connected one-shots is because the game is so big and I haven't wanted to commit to anything and I'm still developing my oc so it's subject to change (I kinda wanna rewrite some of my earlier oneshots too lol)

For other fics I've written (like the multichap fics I have for dmc) I've gone in for most of them with a general outline, so like a Google doc where i just have shittily written bullet points of the plot beats i want to hit. Even if i don't quite know how it's going to go or if I haven't figured out the ending yet, I generally start from an emotional "hook" I know will be the kernel of the story that i will eventually end up resolving. This is just my approach but I actually don't really like going in with every little detail planned out. I find it really overwhelming and restricting, especially when a lot of really good plot points actually tend to reveal themselves WHILE I'm writing. I know you can risk writing yourself into a corner this way, but I find if i trust my "hook" I can usually have plot holes to resolve themselves. A lot of times I've actually written foreshadowing into my work without even realizing it.

As for descriptions... i feel like my prose still tends to drag out as much as i try to keep things concise... hence why I'm always complaining I end up with an 8k word fics when i mean to write something half that length. Idk it's mostly just preference when it comes to prose. You just kind of develop your own voice for it as you go. I do end up comparing my writing to others too, it's just a thing that happens with any art form i feel. I wouldn't worry about it.

Uhhh im also not a professional writer or anything, I just do it for fun, so take this all with a grain of salt idk if it's good advice lol

3. Do you anticipate writing for a new fandom this year? Which one?

I don't really set out to write for particular fandoms so much as they grab me by the throat and won't let go. The vast majority of my writing happens in tandem with special interests. It's totally possible, even probable, that I'll fall in love with something new this year, but I don't know what that might be yet. Instead, I can say there are fandoms I'd like to get back to writing for - Endeavour being top of the list, and maybe also something for Farscape.

6. Which yet-to-be-started fic is first on your list?

I guess that depends what you count as yet-to-be-started. If that includes unposted WIPs, then the Locklyle apple pie fic, probably. If it's only things I haven't started at all but want to, that's a little less certain because I haven't strictly committed to any of them, but I made a post a while ago about a Locklyle child being afraid of spiders and that triggering some things for Lucy, and I'd really like to write that into actual narrative format.

8. Is there a story idea in your mental vault that you’ve never been brave enough to try writing? Is this the year? Can you tell us about it?

The Endeavour spy AU, sigh. That one might actually work as connected oneshots or semi-self-contained chapters, actually, which would make it more doable, though I was originally conceptualizing it as a pretty hefty multichap blending the plots of a handful of episodes. The idea is that Morse, Strange, Fancy, and Trewlove are all members of a spy cell assigned to infiltrate the Oxford police department for... reasons, idk. Morse is supposed to get close to Thursday and ends up falling for Joan. George and Shirley are secretly ("secretly") together. It leans into the semi-camp of Quartet, and I'd like to get in some of Morse's background in Signals, as a treat. Almost certainly not the year for this to happen, though.

i personally love long oneshots, even over 30k. idk why it just reads better and feels more natural ?? like when things are split up into chapters but feel more oneshot style it feels kinda broken up and can sometimes ruin the pacing for me ? not to say multichaps don’t work but it sounds like you’re writing it more oneshot style and honestly there’s nothing better then checking ao3 and seeing a new super long jamie oneshot lmaooo

but whatever decision you make will be the right one, i hope this doesn’t come across as pushy!! i’m actually ridiculously excited for this fic bc you are my favourite tl writer and it sounds like it is going to be absolutely cathartic to read

i personally LOVE long ass one shots, especially for episode-centric fics. idk there's just! something about them that flows better imo. maybe it's bc an episode itself is essentially a 50 minute one shot... who knows! but YEAH i am definitely writing this behemoth with the end goal in mind of it being a one-shot. like. i have the end all planned out and it... it really will hit best if it's the last line of a However-Many -Words-K one shot than a chaptered work. does this make any logical sense? not really! but aesthetically? yes. TO ME.

2) talk about a notable time a narrative or character has looked you dead in the eyes and said “fuck your plan, here’s what we’re actually doing.”

Oh jeez, that could be almost all of my fics. They tend to keep growing and growing because the characters want to do more and more things, until a 500 word ficlet becomes a 12k multichap! The most notable, I think, is my destiel star trek fusion au, which started out as a quick oneshot to get the kirk/spock/dean/cas brainworms out of my head before last year's NaNoWriMo so that I could focus on my goal of finishing several WIPs I'd been working on for months. Instead of doing that, like I intended, I kept thinking of more and more ideas and plot points to add into the universe, and ended up with 13 total fic ideas, two fully written first drafts for them, plus a couple halves of other ones, and like. maybe a thousand words on one of the WIPs I'd intended on finishing. For the whole of NaNo. I think that's the problem with writing Dean and Cas, though - it's literally canon that they'll fight against the narrative the author sets them, even when I'm actively trying to get the two ungrateful bastards together /j

3) on a scale of 1-10 how much do you enjoy incorporating romance into the average story?

10, baby! I love writing romance. I do write stuff without romance (mostly in my original works), but I really enjoy writing romance in fics, which is all I've been writing lately.

17) what is your favorite line you’ve ever written?

"the world was thrown into a greyscale majesty, pierced with shadows that were darker than spilt ink."

Annoyingly, it's from a fic that I don't really want people to read anymore, and have only left up because a) it was my first ever fic (published 10 years ago!!!!) and b) it was a gift for my best friend at the time who I've since lost contact with, and I want her to be able to find it if she ever wants to (Ruby, if you still follow me on here, I miss you!). The phrase "a greyscale majesty" popped into my head when I was writing it and keeps popping back in. I just like the way it sounds, although it's a lot more flowery than I like to write these days. Not my best line, but definitely my favourite.

40) best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten.

Oh man, how to choose! I think it's a three way tie of comments left on my latest fic, Watching Over You - my wonderful friend Liz rereading chapter 3 before bed multiple times, someone here on tumblr saying it's a perfect bedtime story and they've reread it multiple times and it was an instant bookmark, and the absolutely tear-inducing comment on actual ao3 that my writing was cinematic and also "flows beautifully and is so enjoyable to read." I actually couldn't reply to that comment for almost a week cause my brain kept making dialup noises every time I read it! I actually got so much lovely feedback on that fic, I'm grateful for every single comment!!!

Currently writing for DSMP and QSMP the most atm :O I also write for the PJO fandom, Homestuck, and DR on occasion, too. I get very tempted to write for Stardew Valley and Scott Pilgrim, and I have been. More than tempted to write CareBears stuff too. I'm in deep chat

(Un)Lifetime Achievement Award as sad as it sounds. I love it so much and I'm so insanely proud of it and I love the story but there's soooo much planned and the person I was planning it with hasn't spoken to me in a while. I've done it pretty sparingly in the past, because I want to incorporate other languages and loooove language, but don't know any of them very well aside from English. But I try to do a lot of research before I add something in, and am 100% open and insistent that someone correct me if I messed up, or if there's another way to go about saying what I'm trying to say, or just to tell me more!

Never published because I was a kid and it was. So Bad but !!! It was actually for the Minecraft Roleplay series Mary and Dad's Minecraft Adventure (MADMA) back around 2011-2013. I've been in mcrp hell for. a LONG time jesus christ

ohhhh good question. Fullbury Records is very special to me and I'm ALWAYS thinking of what to add to that series, and (Un)Lifetime Achievement Award ofc is also very special to me. I think Heart to Heart is going places once I get back to writing the next chapter, too But I'm also veeeerrry proud of Famous Last Words, and it's very special to me as a projection piece LMAO

in terms of what's on my blog — it's like half aesthetic posts and half star wars, specifically obi-wan and anakin, aka the team, with romantic obikin. i also post about ancient greece a bit, and applied my classics degree (lmao) pointing out some cultural history of obikin dynamics. i made edits of obi-wan saying “anakin” and anakin saying “master” at each other and a combo. i love to read about star wars and talk about it and sometimes i write meta! i collect star wars books too :)

in terms of my fiction — i've written 650k+ words of obikin over the last two years. i publish my fic on ao3 because all the stories i write are explicit. i've talked on tumblr about my novels lex talionis and war drums. some aus that i've talked about on here are classics au (professor obi-wan, my anankē), murder puppy au (raised sith anakin), anakin swap au (anakin/vader time travel swap au). filter "fanfic stuff" if you don't want to see it <3

i've written 49 stories, multichap and oneshots. here are descriptions of all of them, if you are curious to see what's what:

Novel-length stories:

Lex Talionis: COMPLETE Plotty, smutty, Sith AU. It’s my take on how Obi-Wan and Anakin could fall to the dark side, weaving in as much lore as I can. Force dyad, Sith’ari, Zygerria, etc. Obi-Wan and Anakin go through.. character development.. and it is dramatized in the changing way they have sex. I poured in all of my theories about metaphysics and the Force, all my knowledge about Augustus and how a Republic dies, all of my opinions about consent and agency. It has rough sex in it and some uncomfortable power dynamics that get resolved, so it is not for everyone, just a heads up. It is complete, and yes, there is a happy ending lol.

War Drums: IN PROGRESS Darth Vader dies at the end of Return of the Jedi full of regret and wakes up in his 10-yr-old body after the events of the Phantom Menace. Young Obi-Wan struggles to acclimate to the death of Qui-Gon and the discovery that the boy he swore to train grew up into a Sith. Vader tries to use his knowledge to fix the galaxy and Obi-Wan uses his training to make sure they do it the right way. Anakin underwent his rite and is now an adult, galaxy beware.

Murder Puppy: IN PROGRESS Obi-Wan’s decision to do more than flirt with the enemy ends up accidentally acquiring a clingy Sith acolyte, and he is tasked with holding his leash while they work together to end the war. This will probably end up around 40k so a bit shorter than the other two, which are chunkier

Core Oneshots: (my argument for the ship, basically)

Symposium: The story that started it all for me haha. I put Plato's Symposium in a word document and transformed it into a scene where Obi-Wan is forced to reconsider his relationship with Anakin, while dosed with an aphrodisiac, which leads to lines being crossed back in their hotel room. It suggests the erastēs/erōmenos dynamic that appears in much of my work.

Unwrap, Wrap: Obi-Wan needs emotional hurt/comfort. This story has him fall apart, and Anakin help put him back together, after a traumatic battle late in the clone wars. Dramatizes the way that the war has muddied their roles and how much their lives are entangled. Obi-Wan gets a handjob in the shower, also, if that is relevant.

Longer Modern AUs: (8k+ words, developed AUs that attempt to model the canon dynamic in everyday life)

My Anankē: Classics AU is built on the premise that Obi-Wan would never break the rules re: teacher/student fraternization. He would rather endure years of mutual pining than act inappropriately. Once Anakin’s graduated though, that’s a different story. These are oneshots telling the story of their relationship. It is not told in chronological order, so each one basically opens up another window into their lives.

Soulbound: Obi-Wan is a bossy lawyer who plays World of Warcraft. Anakin is an insecure veteran who is in Obi-Wan’s guild and drives him insane. They meet randomly in a bar, and Obi-Wan realizes that Anakin acts the way he does because he likes to be bossed around—so he bosses him around.

Zone of Truth: Obi-Wan basically helped raise Anakin through being his Big Brother mentor through a local gaming shop, eventually teaching him to drive and getting him an internship etc. Anakin graduates college and Obi-Wan turns into a ghost, for very good reasons, it turns out. Anakin’s betrayed him, and he’s betrayed himself.

Longer Canon AUs: (8k+ words, AUs that take place in the galaxy far, far away)

Nostos: Technically a sequel to Symposium. It explores would happen if you took the dynamic established in Symposium and then put the characters in the canon end of Attack of the Clones. How would their behavior be impacted? How would the Jedi react to their decisions?

Ready Stance: Anakin is bored during a hyperspace journey during the clone wars, so he asks Obi-Wan to spar. Obi-Wan watches him warm up, they spar, and things escalate. This fic explores more core facets of their relationship, like the legacy teaching dynamic.

Found, Fixed: Post-Zygerria Obi-Wan hurt/comfort. It’s similar to Unwrap, Wrap, except it’s told from Anakin’s POV and is much more explicit. It’s one of my rare bottom!Obi-Wan fic, he gets taken care of, from a beard trim to.. you know :)

Warm Blood: A/B/O fic that people seem to enjoy. Features omega Anakin having a suppressant failure on the battlefield and going into heat. Alpha Obi-Wan has to fight his way to him, and then tries to resist his instincts—until Anakin confesses his true feelings.

Run Away With Me: A/B/O sequel to Warm Blood, tells the story of what happened after the mating, how they left the Jedi and what they’ve been doing. Anakin is preparing to go into heat, and Obi-Wan is helping him nest. Set during Revenge of the Sith, though they don’t know what’s happening in their isolation.

Temporary Like Achilles: A/B/O fic. Alpha Obi-Wan is drugged by Dathomirian Nightsisters into a feral state, omega Anakin finds and rescues him. It's a fuck or die with feelings and ultimately a happy ending.

Heat Haze: A/B/O fic. Alpha Obi-Wan is living alone on Tatooine, 10yrs post Mustafar. Omega Anakin is about to go into his first heat, and is searching for his mother during the Attack of the Clones. The Force shifts Anakin into the future, bringing the two together in time for Anakin’s heat to begin.

Heat Shimmer: A/B/O fic. Alpha Obi-Wan is on Geonosis during Attack of the Clones, investigating. Preheat omega Darth Vader is on Geonosis 13 years later, and the Force decides to move him back in time for his heat. They fight, but it's impossible to fight some insticts.

Give Up, Give In: A/B/O fic. Qui-Gon lived AU. Omega Obi-Wan is dosed with a heat inducer during a mission. Alpha Anakin who has loved the older Knight forever doesn’t handle that very well. Ends with Service Top Anakin, a favorite of mine

Anakin Sucks: Anakin has an oral fixation and it drives Obi-Wan to distraction over the course of the Clone Wars, 5+1 crack taken very seriously lol

Make War: show!era Obi-Wan after fighting Vader on Mapuzo shares a dream with him while suspended in bacta. Warning for noncon!! Now with a second chapter set after their near miss on Jabiim. Third chapter based on the kenobi show finale hopefully will be out soon!

Shorter Smutty AUs: (shorter stories)

Snap, Crackle, Pop: Padawan Anakin gets braid tugging and spanking after behaving very badly during the Battle of Muunilinst early in the Clone Wars.

Tilted: Anakin wakes up after Mortis in a female body and hides, struggling to come to terms with the change. Obi-Wan comes to check on him and reassure him, smut ensues.

Make Your Siren’s Call: show!era Obi-Wan struggles to fall asleep in the cave from the photoshoot, and dreams about his old apprentice, full of guilt, angst, and smut

Stress Relief: Sith-like/Dom!Obi-Wan is rough on eager!Anakin in their Temple apartment, plays on Master/Padawan dynamic.

Unperishing Glory: Homeric AU, Anakin is Achilles-type Chosen One and Obi-Wan is his Patroclus-type mentor-friend, angsty sex

Murder Puppy: Playful!Obi-Wan seduces raisedSith!Anakin during a duel, bringing him back to the light during sex. People seem to really like this one, it is one of the things I get the most asks about. I have plans for a short story to expand, it’s on the WIP list I promise.

Unwelcome Guest: An AU where Obi-Wan couldn't strike Anakin down on Mustafar. Suitless!Vader comes to find him on Tatooine, and wants to be punished for mistakes, there is spanking involved.

Rosetta Stone: Based on the Mummy, an AU where Obi-Wan is a librarian and Anakin is a former soldier, and they defeated a mummy together. Obi-Wan is oblivious and repressed, so Anakin has to be very forward.

Safe as Houses: Based on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Anakin is the slayer and Obi-Wan is his Giles-like librarian watcher. Anakin seeks Obi-Wan out in crisis and Obi-Wan takes care of him.

The Outlander: Obi-Wan fell to the dark on Naboo AU, so Qui-Gon is Anakin’s Master instead. Anakin sneaks out of the Temple to a club to meet possessive Obi-Wan, there is smut against a wall outside, and Anakin falls to the dark side.

Please, Daddy?: Daddy kink fic. Features a bratty Anakin, sex pheromones, spanking and just general daddy!filth.

A New Hope: Anakin never left Tatooine AU. He becomes a Han Solo-type pilot who helps a rebel!Obi-Wan escape the Empire. He’s a touch starved, praise starved, virgin who’s insecure about his missing hand. Obi-Wan takes good care of him.

Communication, What Communication: Organized Crime AU with collegeStudent!Anakin and accidentalSugarDaddy!Obi-Wan, gratitude kink haha. This fic has been picked up and turned into the phenomenal multichapter story Recoil and Ricochet by @wernnaa.

Potidaea, 432BC: Alcibiades!Anakin and his tutor Socrates!Obi-Wan fight together in the phalanx. Armor kink and period-accurate intercrural sex ensue lol.

Minikin and Tiny-Wan: Fluff and crack based on the premise that there are tiny figurines of the Jedi that are alive (kind of like the little dragons in the goblet of fire). Obi-Wan and Anakin each get one, and their Tinys enjoy each other’s company, leading to an awkward but useful conversation.

#BinGate: Great British Bake Off AU, Anakin is a contestant who lost his temper and destroyed his bake, Obi-Wan is a judge who enjoys scolding Anakin.

Let Me, Master: Padawan Obi-Wan, shy demisexual Master Anakin, Obi-Wan throws caution to the wind and finally seduces his clueless Master, smut ensues with bottom Obi-Wan.

Anakin, Duke of Vader, Prince of Coruscant: Anakin is a bratty, troubled prince and Obi-Wan is his unimpressed knight bodyguard. Anakin cries, showing true vulnerability, and Obi-Wan realizes he has a kink for that lmao

Sic Transit Gloria Mundi: Sexually frustrated after sparring with his Master, Anakin decides to visit the glory hole in the locker room. Little does he know, he’s not the only one.

Boy Toy: Obi-Wan is a fashion designer and Anakin is a first time model. They’ve just finished a boytoy themed photoshoot and get trapped together in an elevator

Brotherhood: Anakin is a college student in a spiral after the death of his mother, and his father Qui-Gon left for a trip, leaving his much older step-brother Obi-Wan, who he doesn't know very well, in charge. Obi-Wan picks Anakin up from jail, and the argument goes places.

Hard Racing: Anakin is a Formula 1 driver and Obi-Wan is his team principal. After an accident at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix where he ran into his teammate, he is sore, tired, and afraid of getting demoted from his spot. Obi-Wan comes to his hotel to reassure him of his value to him and the team.

Beer and Paint: Obi-Wan and Anakin are both apprentices to famous artist Qui-Gon. Anakin has tattoos/piercings/blue streak in his hair, and Obi-Wan is obsessed. Sloppy art and drunk sex ensue.

Smutty +F fic AUs: (short fics that includes Padmé or Ventress)

Très Lecherous: Padmé and Obi-Wan agree to share subby!Anakin, this fic is all three together, and includes DP if that is your jam.

Blue Shadow Virus: continuation of above AU, Padmé almost died on Naboo and Anakin doesn’t take it well. Obi-Wan and Padmé dom him into relaxing

Post-Revenge: Set after the episode of TCW where Ventress rescues Obi-Wan from Maul and Savage. This is only Ventress/Obi-Wan, but Anakin is extremely present in the fact that Ventress uses Obi-Wan's secret feelings for Anakin to incite him into hate sex.

Plus Anakin Makes 3: Sort of a sequel to the Post-Revenge fic, Anakin discovers Obi-Wan and Ventress having a tryst, decides to participate rather than freak out, so more DP haha.

Collaborations: (stories i co-authored with friends, both happen to be set in the canon universe)

Apartment Story: Post-Deception arc reconciliation fic, where Obi-Wan is drunk and Anakin is angry. Feelings are revealed, and comfort, understanding and smut ensues. Written with my friend Crys as a RP and adapted into a story.

Satellite Mind: What would happen if Obi-Wan could hear Anakin’s thoughts? Spoiler: it does not go well. Set during the last few days of the clone wars, and tracks how their relationship combusted over Anakin’s secrets. Written with @theseptemberist.

What advice do you have for new writers wanting to try tackling a project that's more than a one-shot? i.e. writing a longer zombie apocalypse au

The main difference between a oneshot and a multi-chaptered fic is honestly Pacing. You can have an idea and stretch it out over 6k or 20k and call it a oneshot. You can also have an idea and stretch it out over 20-30k (or hell, even just 12k) and and have it be a multi-chaptered fic. I have read some very long oneshots and some very short multi-chaptered fics, but both worked because of the pacing.

Don’t get me wrong — length undeniably matters in a multi-chap — but it’s really just a matter of spreading out ideas. Chapters are just an elongated collection of scenes (or even single scene, sometimes) in which something has to be different at the end than it was at the beginning, even if it’s something small. I write my scenes with a similar mindset, which is: What is the Point of this scene? Of this chapter? What has to be communicated? Why is this scene or chapter here?

It’s why often times in multi-chaps, I’ll have a metaphor in the back of my head for a chapter that is like, my guideline of what I’m working towards. I lean more on this technique when I know the way the story is changing - character, plot, or relationship wise - is some kind of epiphany or turning point, like a character strengthening their resolve.

Which is to say there are three types of chapters:

Establishment: set up, setting, daily routine, building a dynamic and letting it stagnate for a while

Transitionary: The in betweens, similar to set up, but strengthening that dynamic or plot beat or character arc and usually doing set up for

Change: the realization or decision, even if it’s just two characters realizing they’re becoming closer, or that they need to figure out a plan (if it’s a cliffhanger) or figuring out the plan

These chapters can all overlap - as typically a oneshot actually has all three of these in one - but a multichap tends to repeat this pattern over and over again until the work is complete, hence why they’re longer and are divvied up into different chapters in the first place. And speaking of length…

My biggest tips in terms of elongation is considering

Action: the Thing that happens (a fight scene, a choice, a realization, aplot beat, etc.)

Reaction: breathing room for characters to process and reflect and react to what’s just happening to them, how they feel about something they’ve done or realized (or what someone else has done or said)

Typically I try to stagger these with every Action having a Reaction. They don’t have to be equal in length (i.e. the reaction can be Short) but is important to have both there, especially if you want to draw something out.

Tips for Outlining (+ Plot?)

I try to know the gist of my beginning and my ending. Neither has to be something specific, but whether I know I want a happy ending or a bitter ending is important to my outlining (pacing & plotting) process. My idea for the ending, even of the emotion I want it to have (say bittersweet) can change over time (like to happy, or sad, etc.) and that’s totally normal and fine. But having some idea, even if it changes, does keep you from getting writer’s block because you’re not sure where you wanna go.

I always make a list of like the ideas or concepts I know I wanna include in a work. It could be a line, or a scene (something angsty, a love confession, etc.), or even something vague like “this character gets hurt at one point and other character gets worried about it.” It could also be super specific or really vague. But what my little (or long) brainstorm list gives me is a blueprint I can then use to build a plot outline, i.e.

Characters meet in a zombie apocalypse: do they get off on the wrong foot, fast friends, or a matter of convenience? [Establishment & Action + Reaction]

Characters bond however I want them too, or maybe they still don’t get along [Establishment + transitionary, Reaction]

Something happens to shift their dynamic, maybe “something angsty”? [Action + Change]

They think about the shift and how it’s changed them [Establishment + Reaction]

no clue what happens here!! you don’t have to know and can build as you go for however many lil bullet points as you want

Then, Character A gets hurt and Character B worries about it [aka Action & Establishment, possibly even Reaction + Change if one of them realizes that they would die for each or something]

One of the benefits of having a list (and ignore what’s in the square brackets, that’s just an added demonstration) is it gives you a bunch of little points and wishes to connect, so instead of going from Point A to Point Z, you can go from A to J to P to Z, etc. The rest of the gaps get filled in while writing, I find. It also means I won’t forget little or big things I wanted to include, like headcanons or ideas or stuff like that. Outlines save your life and brainstorming sessions just mean exploring what you think is interesting about the idea, all the different places it could go, and keeping what you want to keep and throwing out (or reconfiguring) what you don’t.

TLDR; when it comes to writing any work, but especially a longer work, a sense of direction has been personally what’s guided me through multi-chap fics and longer original works (my 156k first draft of my second book, i’m looking at you). I hope it will help carry you through yours and that this was helpful in some way <3 Happy writing/brainstorming!

Do you have any tma fics with trans femme rep because I would love to read it l. You probs don't remember me but I was the (recently realized transfemme) 16 year old who wanted to play Juliet for school in the comments for tsp it was an eye opener for me, and put alot of complicated feelings to words, I've been on the hunt for more transfemme media in tma fics but I'm find so little😟 so I'd like to believe maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place??

oh goodness hi, i do remember you!!!! this is such a lovely message to receive when i’m always scared of my inbox after making serious posts. i spent the night foraging and i have a good chunk of recs right here for you! 

i’m actually going to say this for people who aren’t aware of the statistics here:

even just searching the tags, there are 474 for “trans male character” but if you search “trans female character” you get 32. out of those, only 20 of them are not explicit, and maybe 10 out of those that aren’t uncomfortable in other ways. combined with looking in the nonbinary tags, we only ended up with 19 recs total, which. is actually devastating and i really hope people realize how much that says about our priorities. we can and must do better. myself included!

for now, i’m going to start with some updates to GTCU fics first to get them out of the way, but i’ve asked my friends for other clean recs to share with you as well! they found things even outside of that tag, so hopefully this helps! i wrote little blurbs under all of them to state just how much focus there is, too.

01. hand in hand [series, complete, by yours truly]

this is the series of oneshots i did for bi jonuary! if TSP was an eye opener for you, and you haven’t seen these yet, there is a lot of discussion of jon’s gender exploration in here and even some closure with his experience in chess! it permeates all seven of the fics as a recurring and purposeful theme.

02. Pharos By Right [series, ongoing, yours truly]

we have four transfem main characters in this series! sasha, gerry, georgie, jon. sasha is a trans woman and it comes up right in chapter 2 of the first installment, but she actively talks about it in chapter 7 when she gives her statement. jon, we already know his backstory, but he’s actually going to end up doing really different stuff in this story because the whole plot is different! georgie, i’ll explain below (so excited about this.)

and gerry, again you know what i did with him in TSP, but here? we get to see sasha is the one who helps him start transitioning, and it’s going to be a major part of things in a different way than before because of that connection. community is everything! my next chapter that i’m currently working on actually literally starts with them celebrating when he starts self-medicating estrogen right then and there in the office LOL. 🥳

03. breathing like i never did [oneshot, TBA, also yours truly]

this fic already featured GTCU-typical transfem jon, but i have a surprise announcement: i’m going to revamp it VERY soon and change it so that georgie is a transfem butch. 

this fic is over a year old, the first one i wrote for this fandom, and since then my HC has changed and i think it’s for the better! this is something you don’t see represented often, and ever since seraf (💙) brought up the HC it’s been living in my brain rent free.

i’ll edit this blurb accordingly when it’s finally changed, but rest assured it’s coming very soon! and already has transfem jon in it to start, so still counts.

04. Sail Close to the Wind [multichap, ongoing, renwhit]

this is the second major installment in ren’s series, come what may, and while you do have to read the other parts to understand the plot, i’m listing it specifically because it actually features a young trans girl, aminah! her transness is actually explored explicitly and explained to callum, the POV character, and she is the best, i love her so much.

the first installment, head in the lion’s mouth, does talk about sasha and joy (one of danny stoker’s friends) being trans women in some aside mentions, but it’s not really enough for me to say “ooh this is a fic with loud transfem rep!” either way, though, they’re included very organically and it’s nice to happen upon when reading, you know?

05. Pendulum (Road to Damascus) [part of a series, complete, renwhit]

in this installment specifically, there are multiple scenes where tim flashes back to knowing sasha in secondary school, and her being a trans girl comes up frequently! especially in relation to her parents being super supportive, him growing out his hair alongside her to help keep eyes off her while she socially transitioned in school, and meeting her again in adulthood when she’s fully come into herself and is more confident. i feel like that would resonate with you! and the whole series is a banger.

OKAY now stuff that isn’t ours but that i trust implicitly.

06. all moments meant to pass [oneshot, complete, seraf]

this is one of seraf’s contributions to the bi jon event! it’s about trans lesbian sasha reaching out to and connecting with jon about gender and ostracization, it’s really soft and honest and beautiful. DEFINITELY give it a read!

07. secondhand nostalgia ( or: prides never attended ) [multichap, ongoing, seraf]

also for bi jonuary! includes trans butch georgie (seraf is the one who pioneered that HC!) and another girlfriend of hers, tasha, who is a trans woman. and the next chapter will include trans sasha, as well!

08. timeline of your tender heart [multichap, complete, verboseDescription]

another bi jonuary, featuring a lot of jon talking about gender! it might not be as hefty as some others listed here, but angel’s writing is soothing and beautiful, and there is gender to be explored.

09. Bailey School Kids [multichap, complete, verboseDescription]

this fic. is one of my cherished, treasured, Most Loved fics of all time about gerry surviving his cancer and living with roommates in america (the same ones mentioned in TSP!) one of gerry’s roommates, basil, is amab nonbinary (mentioned in hand in hand, too!) the other, kira, has a transfem girlfriend, and the two of them do take gerry out to buy skirts after talking about some gender dysphoria he’s been shoving down because he doesn’t think he has time for it given his lifestyle. it’s VERY sweet and i fully recommend it, i hype this fic up so much that it’s leaked into ALL my own work too. 

small break for safe fics that angel found for me while i was asleep. he went through various nonbinary tags to try and find transfem ones! i have not touched any of these and probably wouldn’t have on my own but he vouched that some of them are cute as hell.

this is about closeted nonbinary jon, but it’s about how he’s actually alright with that and he’s comfortable with himself; he microdosed E in uni, but kept it to himself and is reflecting happily on it! which is honestly a very worthy narrative, as well. i may not write him ever physically transitioning at all myself, but i REALLY respect this take on it and i LOVE to see it.

18. Time to think, to live [multichap, complete, Kitkire]

new addition! it does mention some experiences with transphobia and dysphoria, but this is about jon discovering some stuff with martin during safehouse time!

overall, there are a fair amount of discovery fics for jon out there, i just. don’t tend to read many because they often go with the transmasc jon route and? not my cup of tea, like, at all. but these all seem lovely, and i hope you like them!

though i will say that i. find it kind of uncomfortable that almost all of these are about jon, but there is... virtually nothing for the canon women in the podcast. at all? there’s nothing in this fandom for the girls in general, but like. i’m obviously all for nb jon, but if you’re going to write transfems... you should be thinking about the women who are already there, mate.

this is the link to what i filtered before when searching to try and make it safe; there’s only 11 in here, and some of them are just, not heavily focused on being transfem or anything so i’m not sure what your feelings are.

i haven’t read this one, but i asked a friend to check it out, and they said it’s sweet so far! it’s urban fantasy T4T tim/sasha, and i’m always interested in anything that also incorporates chronic pain into it tbh.

each chapter of this is kind of a stand-alone, so you CAN skip around. it has great reviews and is certifiably hysterical. chapter 20 is like... you know how when you’re trans & talking with friends who are also trans? the chapter isn’t about that necessarily, but it does come up a few times.

also, the whole fic is rated M but it’s just for brief scattered jokes, and there are none that i can see in that chapter in particular.

the trans melanie fics in the search consist of a jonmartin baseball au that doesn’t put any focus on her (angel didn’t even remember her being trans in it, and after skimming there’s only one vague mention), and a really small wtgfs drabble that has zero mention of her being trans, so i didn’t put them here but you can always peek them anyway. not problematic, just not relevant!

sometimes i hesitate to look at people’s trans melanie content in general because it can get dicey in the sense of “why do you see her as trans” given her canon connection to violence, but! i know that it can be done beautifully (namely by transfems) but if you come at it with a focus on her arc about healing, recovery, putting up boundaries, removing herself from situations that hurt her, it has the potential to be so good and i know that max @femmedionysus is going to be writing fic about that for @melaniemonth this upcoming april! keep an eye out for that! i trust max with my life and with my wife.

ADDITION: seraf also writes transfem butch georgie and transmasc femme melanie and that may also come up during april!!!!!!!! it’s AMAZING. those are SUCH cool things to explore, especially considering the “contradictions” most people perceive in those words before really thinking about it. also keep an eye out for that!

g-d, i’m so genuinely disheartened by the ratio here. i don’t mean to sound so defeatist, but i think acknowledging the scarcity here (to anyone else who may have clicked on this, not you, juliet, who has already gone through the search yourself) is important. i’ve contributed to it myself, even if all of my m/m content includes transfem nb guys in some capacity. i need to write more of the girls!

i hope saying this is just an encouragement to write more things you haven’t explored yet, and experience the joy in that!

but back to juliet: there is also always the possibility that people haven’t used that tag/didn’t tag it at all! that does lead me to believe it wouldn’t have been a focal point anyway, but i know i’ve forgotten before, too. maybe if you search “trans [character]” individually you might find stuff, too! that’s how i tagged sasha in mine before i realized i should put it in the broader tag, as well.

It’s… distracting // I giggled my way through this entire fic! I could totally see this happening in the show if they really decided to pursue the Juke relationship. I mean, I can hope!!

i once believed love would be burnin’ red (but it’s golden, babe) by Ephemeral_Joy (Juke) (Post Season 1) - The boys try to figure out what their unfinished business is. It has consequences // A very soft fic that made me feel all the butterflies, if you like this one definitely check out the rest of Ephemeral_Joy’s fics!

I’m Scared of My Piano by emullz  (Juke) (Missing Scene) - Luke and Julie writing music together (between episodes 3 & 4) // Very adorable and made me WISH we had gotten this in the show! Absolutely adorable

Is it cool that I said all that? by smol_fangirl (Juke) (Post Season 1) - Julie can’t sleep but Luke helps // A super sweet fic that feels like being wrapped in the orbit of these two characters. Just a lot of small soft moments that kept making me smile.

i’ve had the time of my life by dearhappy (Friendship) (AU) - The ‘New Girl’ AU you didn’t know you needed but definitely DO! // If you know anything about New Girl then you know that the boys work perfectly as well… the boys. So funny and got me thinking of all my fave New Girl moments with the JatP crew.

Struck a Chord by Anonymous (Friendship) (Missing Scene/ Post Season 1) - Luke and Alex get into a fight. Reggie freaks out (Julie makes everything better) // A really bittersweet Reggie centric fic. Reading this made me hope for some amazing season 2 development for him.

try to change the ending (peter losing wendy). by lukesjulie (Juke) (Future Fic) - Julie falls in love with Luke but life moves on // OW! Like, real sad hours here guys. So, SO, worth the read but be ready for the rain before the rainbow.

unsaid julie by unsaidjulie (juggyjones)  (Juke) (Post Season 1) - Luke writes Julie a song about his feelings. It’s a process // Look, I won’t lie, this fic hurt me a little in ways I didn’t expect. But it was SO worth it. Pining Luke? Yes PLEASE!

we all got a second act inside of us by keep_swinging, rainstorm97 (Juke) (Post Season 1) - Luke’s curse doesn’t break // Seeing Luke in pain hurts but not as much as watching him try to cover it up. An amazing fic that I highly recommend.

A Familiar Picture by captainkippen (Juke) (Alive in 2020 AU) (Complete) - a 5 + 1 of Julie realizing she loves Luke (and the 1 time she realized he loved her back) // I am such a SUCKER for these fics but REGGIE IS ALSO JULIE’S STEPBROTHER IN THIS?!?! Perfection. Literal Perfection.

Family Matters by morganoconner  (Family) (Post Season 1) (Complete) - Ray accidently adopts a few ghost kids // Okay, to start off with, Ray NEEDS more love and this fic GIVES IT. The best Ray focused fic I’ve seen (also technically has Willex and Juke but they aren’t the focus. Family is <3)

Feels like I’ve opened my eyes again by ICanSpellConfusionWithAK  (Juke) (Season 2 Speculation Fic) (Incomplete) - After everything that’s happened with Julie and her band, she’s tired. She doesn’t stop being tired // This fic is crazy good and has an INSANE update schedule (I have theories on where this may go and I hope they’re right!)

Give me something that’ll haunt me when you’re not around by smol_fangirl (Juke) (Missing Scene) (Complete) - Luke writes Julie an Unsaid Emily // This is one of the sweetest, saddest fics you will find. It takes place before the Orpheum and the FEELINGS that Luke has. This made me wish I could hug fictional characters. Now with a SECOND CHAPTER that RUINED ME even more!!!

Linger by apocalyvse, keep_swinging & rainstorm97 (Juke, Willex) (Season 2 Speculation Fic) (Incomplete) - Caleb vs Julie in (not) Ghost wars // The plot is so amazingly intriguing, every update gets me so excited!! (Julie with powers? JULIE WITH POWERS!)

Love Drunk by captainkippen ** (Juke) (Alive in 2020 AU) (Incomplete) - After a show (and a big night) in Las Vegas Luke and Julie accidently get hitched // Accidental marriage AU- ACCIDENTAL MARRIAGE AU! It’s here guys and it’s FILLED with funny/ sweet moments!

sweet dreams are made of this (who am i to disagree?) by juliemolina (nnegan13) (Juke) (Season 2 Speculation Fic) (Incomplete) - Julie and Luke share a dream after the events of season 1. It doesn’t bode well for Julie // The pure EMOTION in this fic gets me every time. Also, protective Luke is not something I knew I needed till I had it.

The Cheerleader Effect by Bluefire510 (Juke) (Post Season 1) (Incomplete) - Julie wears Luke’s clothes and it breaks his brain // This is like the quintessential Juke fic. Do you want fluff? Second hand embarrassment as Luke blue screens? Read it. 

Unfinished Business by captainkippen (Juke, Willex) (Alive in 2020 AU) (Incomplete) - Julie moves to a new school and meets ‘the boys’ // This fic has so much promise already and I can just FEEL how good it’s gonna get. I am DYING to watch the pining in real time.

Julie the Vampire Slayer by pearlcaddy ** (Juke, Willex) (Buffy the Vampire Slayer AU) (Ongoing) - The adventure of Julie the Vampire Slayer, her ghost Watcher Luke and their Scooby Gang // This may be one of the best AU’s I have ever read. I didn’t think it could work but pearlcaddy does SO MUCH to bring it to life! You won’t regret reading this!

Four or five, depending on whether you count ATLA/LoK as one fandom or two. My old account had PJO and Harry Potter, and Supergirl most recently.

I mean, that's most of them, since there are only seven rn but:

I do! Usually not all of them, though, depends on the mood i'm in I suppose. And what the comment says. I read them all multiple times though!

6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending

I'd say the wrong side of a second, which is just essentially just: what if Lena didn't manage to turn off Lex's mount norquay kryptonite canons on time in 5x8 and they hit Kara. The fic is the conversation where Lena has to tell Alex. It's one of two fics I've written where Kara dies, though I'd say the angstier of the two because they don't get time for love confessions and last kisses in that one. You may ask, helena, why do you have two oneshots in which Kara dies? Is this the name you're trying to make for yourself? I'm not sure, honestly. I'll just say i was enabled on discord for the second one. And that angst is kind of thrilling to write. And Kara is (masochistically, perhaps) a great character to kill.

(I tend to reserve tragic endings to oneshots I can knock out in an evening, though. If I'm investing major time into something, I want that happily ever after, please and thank you.)

7. Do you write crossovers?

I haven't, no, though that's not to say I never would.

8. Ever received hate on a fic?

I mean, not seriously. I've received the occasional negative/nasty comment but nothing I couldn't delete or disregard.

9. Do you write smut?

I have it was very scary. I'll probably do it again tho.

Not really, no. Though I had a friend that added so much in her beta-reading that it may as well have been cowriting.

mm well I started a (modern) Pride and Prejudice Supercorp AU but I got stuck trying to keep both Kara and Lena in character and the general plot structure of P&P. Maybe I'll go back to it if I ever figure out a way around that. Otherwise, i try to only post things I know I can finish.

15. Writing strengths?

Uhhhhhh gee idk. I like writing descriptions. Also dialogue.

16. Writing weaknesses?

Overuse of ellipses and M-dashes, perhaps? Repetition of certain adjectives and adverbs? Mostly lots of small things.

Not sure I'd trust myself to do it accurately, tbh. Maybe with a beta who spoke the language?

As of now, I have only written for Harry Potter; however, in February I began several LOTR/Hobbit WIPs that I have not yet published. The first one is due out at the start of September though!

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

In Another Universe: Hermione Granger is brilliant: she completed her PhD in Linguistics at 25, and is the youngest faculty member at the University. Ron Weasley, an unruly quantum physicist... well, he's getting there. But when Granger gets stacked with a project she hates and has to talk to other scholars at the University, their paths cross and become permanently intertwined in a way neither of them could've ever anticipated. (Slow Burn Multichap Muggle Uni AU) Rated T.

Rosebury Grounds: Lady Hermione Granger has been reared up in society, to marry well and be a good housewife, like any good Edwardian lady, but that's far from what she wants. Teaspoon Vindication: After escaping Malfoy Manor, Ron comes to visit Hermione in her room at Shell Cottage, and does the one thing that may be the hardest for him— talking about his feelings. (Romione oneshot)

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I try my best, though I don’t always get to all of them! My reasoning is that if folks are kind enough to tell me how much they enjoyed my writing, the least I can do is thank them for their lovely words. 

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

The Last Farewell! It’s a Wolfstar oneshot, set in canon universe, where Remus comes to Sirius’s grave to ask for his blessing (and forgiveness) to marry Tonks. It was angst central from the start and I even wrote it while listening to an angsty song.

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

I generally write happy, fade-to-black endings, but if I had to choose I’d say Truth or Dare. This is a male!Hermione x Ron summer camp AU born of a game of spin-the-bottle/truth-or-dare that ends with them figuring out their feelings go beyond friendship. I say it is the happiest ending because I think the “boy figuring out he likes boys” scenario has been overdone in angst a bit too much, and the fact that the feelings are reciprocated and they decide to stay in touch would make me giddy if I was their age and in their shoes. Anyway, it’s just a sweet ending.

Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've written?

Not at all— I actually don’t like crossovers at all, so I have never even entertained reading, let alone writing, one. (No hate at all to those with imaginations large and strong enough to conjure up awesome crossovers— I am in awe of you all, they’re just not for me!)

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Never, luckily, since the Romione community is so lovely and supportive! But, though not outright hate, for a while I had an anonymous FFN reviewer who left reviews on every chapter of Rosebury Grounds saying that my title was a porn/sex act...? I was distraught and scoured Google to see if they really were right and this was some obscure euphemism I’d entirely missed, but turns out it wasn’t, and they had gotten confused with a vulgar but similar term. So I ignored those reviews but they kept coming and then eventually one time I found a 500 word very graphic description of the sex act in question in my reviews, so desperate was the reviewer (apparently) to get their (wrong) point across. Yikes. 

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes! I’ve written a lot and of many kinds— explicit, implied, just foreplay, fade-to-black, referenced... I’ve written both M/F and M/M. 

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

No— I didn’t even know that was something I should worry about!

Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, but I speak fluent Spanish, so I’m planning on translating In Another Universe and Rosebury Grounds myself once I’ve finished the latter. 

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No, the most I’ve done is beta from the plot-building stage!

What's your all-time favorite ship?

Gahhhh don’t make me pick! Romione (HP) is first in my heart because I see so much of myself and what I want in it, but Samfro (LOTR) is, to me, the truest depiction of love in all of literature, ever. I will forever come back to it.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

I hope to finish my Hogwarts Actually series that I started for Romionecom (hi, Discord friends!) inspired by Love Actually. I have it all planned out, translating all the relationships in the movie to HP pairings and friendships, and all I need to do is write— but I think I’ll come back to this periodically and unoften. Hopefully I’ll finish it!

What are your writing strengths?

I like to think that I write good and witty dialogue. I’m a theatre person, so I think my dialogue sounds mostly natural when spoken. I also have a good sense of beginning and ending, so most of my works/chapters start and end with a memorable phrase of some sort. I also have excellent grammar and spelling, so except for a few occasional typos, that makes the job of proofing much easier!

What are your writing weaknesses?

I think I sometimes write sentences that are waaaay too long and convoluted. I use words that are too big sometimes and just take approachability from my writing. Fanfic has been excellent to practice correcting this, though!

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

As a bilingual writer myself— don’t write dialogue in other languages unless you speak it well or get it translated directly through someone who speaks it well. Though I appreciate the effort, I can always tell when something was put through Google Translate, and that kind of dialogue most often ends up lacking the context clues/colloquial familiarity of real language speakers, and ends up sounding stiff and forced. 

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

I’m not proud of it, but I used to write MCR RPF back when I was 13 or so. It was a very brief stint and I have since deleted the works in their entirety, since my principles have evolved to the place where RPF to me seems disrespectful and invasive. Plus, it was on Wattpad.

What's your favorite fic you've written?

Again, don’t make me pick please!! I truly have had a lot of fun with Rosebury and I think it is a testament to how much I love it that I was able to keep the idea on hold for a full six months before I started writing it. I love the Downton setting and the Edwardian dialogue is a lot of fun to me. But I also have a soft spot for the In Another Universe original oneshot I submitted to the RFF2020— that work awoke my love for Muggle AUs (which I like to think I’m most known for), inspired me to start work on my first multichap fic, and keeps me coming back to it anytime I have doubt in my ability to write swoonworthy scenes. It was the oneshot that started it all.

I've a plot bunny about a Rayllum zombie apocalypse AU, but I'm not sure how to plot or outline a multi chapter fic. What advice do you have for new writers wanting to try tackling a project that's more than a one-shot?

The main difference between a oneshot and a multi-chaptered fic is honestly Pacing. You can have an idea and stretch it out over 6k or 20k and call it a oneshot. You can also have an idea and stretch it out over 20-30k (or hell, even just 12k) and and have it be a multi-chaptered fic. I have read some very long oneshots and some very short multi-chaptered fics, but both worked because of the pacing.

Don’t get me wrong — length undeniably matters in a multi-chap — but it’s really just a matter of spreading out ideas. Chapters are just an elongated collection of scenes (or even single scene, sometimes) in which something has to be different at the end than it was at the beginning, even if it’s something small. I write my scenes with a similar mindset, which is: What is the Point of this scene? Of this chapter? What has to be communicated? Why is this scene or chapter here?

It’s why often times in multi-chaps, I’ll have a metaphor in the back of my head for a chapter that is like, my guideline of what I’m working towards. I lean more on this technique when I know the way the story is changing - character, plot, or relationship wise - is some kind of epiphany or turning point, like a character strengthening their resolve.

Which is to say there are three types of chapters:

Establishment: set up, setting, daily routine, building a dynamic and letting it stagnate for a while

Transitionary: The in betweens, similar to set up, but strengthening that dynamic or plot beat or character arc and usually doing set up for

Change: the realization or decision, even if it’s just two characters realizing they’re becoming closer, or that they need to figure out a plan (if it’s a cliffhanger) or figuring out the plan

These chapters can all overlap - as typically a oneshot actually has all three of these in one - but a multichap tends to repeat this pattern over and over again until the work is complete, hence why they’re longer and are divvied up into different chapters in the first place. And speaking of length...

My biggest tips in terms of elongation is considering

Action: the Thing that happens (a fight scene, a choice, a realization, aplot beat, etc.)

Reaction: breathing room for characters to process and reflect and react to what’s just happening to them, how they feel about something they’ve done or realized (or what someone else has done or said)

Typically I try to stagger these with every Action having a Reaction. They don’t have to be equal in length (i.e. the reaction can be Short) but is important to have both there, especially if you want to draw something out. 

Tips for Outlining (+ Plot?)

I try to know the gist of my beginning and my ending. Neither has to be something specific, but whether I know I want a happy ending or a bitter ending is important to my outlining (pacing & plotting) process. My idea for the ending, even of the emotion I want it to have (say bittersweet) can change over time (like to happy, or sad, etc.) and that’s totally normal and fine. But having some idea, even if it changes, does keep you from getting writer’s block because you’re not sure where you wanna go.

I always make a list of like the ideas or concepts I know I wanna include in a work. It could be a line, or a scene (something angsty, a love confession, etc.), or even something vague like “this character gets hurt at one point and other character gets worried about it.” It could also be super specific or really vague. But what my little (or long) brainstorm list gives me is a blueprint I can then use to build a plot outline, i.e.

Characters meet in a zombie apocalypse: do they get off on the wrong foot, fast friends, or a matter of convenience? [Establishment & Action + Reaction]

Characters bond however I want them too, or maybe they still don’t get along [Establishment + transitionary, Reaction]

Something happens to shift their dynamic, maybe “something angsty”? [Action + Change]

They think about the shift and how it’s changed them [Establishment + Reaction]

One of the benefits of having a list (and ignore what’s in the square brackets, that’s just an added demonstration) is it gives you a bunch of little points and wishes to connect, so instead of going from Point A to Point Z, you can go from A to J to P to Z, etc. The rest of the gaps get filled in while writing, I find. It also means I won’t forget little or big things I wanted to include, like headcanons or ideas or stuff like that. Outlines save your life and brainstorming sessions just mean exploring what you think is interesting about the idea, all the different places it could go, and keeping what you want to keep and throwing out (or reconfiguring) what you don’t. 

TLDR; when it comes to writing any work, but especially a longer work, a sense of direction has been personally what’s guided me through multi-chap fics and longer original works (my 156k first draft of my second book, i’m looking at you).
