The truth is...I no longer know. The truth...matters....or I think it does. Or perhaps it did once. And does no longer. Or perhaps it never did. But that seems...wrong. It should matter. It should matter a great deal. Or perhaps it shouldn't. The story keeps changing. This is the helm of the God of War. Worn by Ares. Worn by me. I think I am the God of War. Yet I think that cannot be true. War...the first casualty of war...is truth. /// The first casualty of war is the truth. And the truth does matter. It used to be the only thing that mattered. -Wonder Woman: Rebirth (2016)
thinking again about how Greg Rucka came swooping in to save Wonder Woman comics in 2016 by just straight up ignoring everything written for the last five years and going "nah all of that nonsense was false memories and Diana being lied to by the gods, and by the way let me reinforce the whole reason Wonder Woman exists in the first place while I'm here"

So weird that acknowledging a character is attractive must mean your sexualizing them
Like everybody can understand that hyperdeath asriel is described as hot amd move on but the moment you make an adult design for a frisk and make them attractive (and simply point it out) then you must be awful! Like your design isint even sexualized or nothing it's just an adult frisk it's not like ur drawing them half naked like some adult frisk designs.
Also love how all the post they used to call you out where incredibly removed from the context and they made it look like the other people's post where ones you made it's like they were manufacturing their own outrage.
oh, is that what they're doing now? that's nice.
you know what's funnier, i hate adult flowey with my soul and still i went to bat for them whenever people tried to pull the "it's creepy" card under my posts. i shut that shit down every single time, to the point i had people lash out at me. I'd heard that they'd been harassed and pedojacked over it and i genuinely felt bad for them, because that was horrible and they obviously didn't deserve that, no matter how much we disagreed.
like seriously do you have any idea how humiliating it is to hate something with full acknowledgement that it objectively does not matter and being like "but leave people who like it alone, i'm sure they're fine people" every time i expressed my dislike, because some people who agreed with me were incapable of being normal?
aaaand in the end they were the one who tried to paint me as the predator. honestly? I'm not surprised they misrepresented me so much. it was obvious from day one that they can't fucking read LMAOOOO

The funniest thing about the “Imogen saved me” moment is that laudna didn’t actually get to hear Imogen’s “You know you saved me life, right?” but the rest of the bells hells did. They have gotten to sit and listen to these bitches say they saved each other when they met a total of two times and all the whilst knowing that they have not kissed on the lips once.

davepeta...... the thing u gotta consider about them is the fact that homestuck is really explicitly a Narrative. like, sure, it sucks that davesprite couldnt have a satisfying story as his own person, but thats BECAUSE he was structurally a Less Important Dave in the storyline, and he knew that, and it made him really depressed. I love davesprite, but he was always always always going to be held in comparison to dave, and dave was always always always going to be the one more important to the living players, and the one getting real character development. there was no way forward for davesprite alone! which sucked
wrt nepeta..... she had been dead a long time. she was a ghost, she was pretty happy hanging out w her version of equius in the afterlife, and it was really awkward and shoehorned in to have her brought back as a sprite just to make jasprose happy. but u know what? her version of equius became arquius. and the x2 combo of a meowrails and strider bros reunion in arquius and davepeta makes me gd cry
the thing about merging into davepeta for davesprite especially is that it made them a distinct, relevant character again. something seperate from dave, something that could narratively have their own development and relationships. its similar to how rosesprite became much happier as jasprose; she didnt have to bow down as the alpha rose anymore, because she was something different now. neither of them felt relegated to the sidelines the way the sprites prototyped w only one person often do.
also like?? nonbinary icon made from the two coolest characters in the series??? sprite squared cat versions of the best siblings in the series???? kisses for jade?????? davepeta going to fight fuckin lord english??????? what an absolute gem. claw claw meowtherfuckers for real only issue is we didnt get more of them

Shuri showed mercy to her enemy and the fandom reacts positively as the story ends in peace.
Spider showed mercy to the man who held him prisoner for months. Who saved his life twice. Who views him as a son. The fandom hates him for it. Shows no empathy.
Mind showing me the difference? Please. Y'all make me want to drag Y'all across the internet.

Faerghus is based on Russia and Adrestia on Rome right? I can't tell why they made the agarthan language Russian. Is it some kinda big brain move to connect them like Ancient Greece and Rome are connected, or was that just a coincidence?
On another note, some nabatean names (among other things) are inspired by Celtic/Irish mythology so their language can even be old Irish.
In the end it depends on who you attribute Ancient Greece to. It could be the original of both of their cultures and they split off and did their own thing? Idk, we just don't know enough...
Eh...
I don't remember where I saw that post (maybe the dev interview from 2020?) but Faerghus's real life inspirations was a mix match between various "northern" "european" countries, idk, Fr-england-ssia or something like this.
While Adrestia has a coliseum and used to rule over "the world" a long time ago, Enbarr's current architecture is closer to the eastern part of the roman empire (that'd later be called the byzantine empire!) who... used way more greek than latin! IIRC in that same interview the devs said Adrestia was inspired by Germany and Italy? Italian inspirations (historical at least) are evident with the coliseum and Enbarr's palace (it has a crapton of mosaics in Nopes!) while the German ones can be spot through names of Adrestian characters and particles, and how squads are called.
I think the first historical nonsense that pissed me was about someone trying to fit ancient greece/rome in the Nabatean/Agarthan conflict - but reading too much about languages and irl parallels, while fun to honeypot, is ultimately a sterile debate when Japan has been known to use several languages/names in various video games because they sounded cool/exotic enough (Jugdral's Sigurd and Deirdre and Chulainn come to mind, but then Granvalle's knight squads made me learn the name of some colors in german!) - even if Agarthan units being named after ancient sages, and their titans - i mean giant robots - having an arte called "titanomachy" is pretty revealing on the aesthetic the devs wanted to give them, which is also all kinds of interesting when you take into account that Rhea is the only one of Sothis's kids who is named in this fashion - from her name we could guess she's an Agarthan, but no, Sothis named her youngest kid the Agarthan way?
Anyways, I thought about it for funsies in the original language post (rather, tags) to be something like aramaic, with an alphabet that would be so different from modern day Fodlan's alphabet that randoms who never thought those symbols might be letters would just, ignore it - but it's basically headcanon land.
If nabatean language came from Sothis, is it like "the blue sea star's language", or are they even communicating in "Nabatean" through words, can this language be vocalised by humans, is it like entish, or was it kept secret and only used between Nabateans like Tolkien's khuzdul?
Or, about Agarthans - maybe they used a certain language before being wiped out and shared it with those lizards and some other random humans, Sothis confined them underground, Enbarrians kept on using the Agarthan language and through centuries of usage it eventually branched to become the Enbarr language - and pissed to speak something even similar to the language of those beasts, Agarthans evolved their original language to the one we can now spot in Shambala?

I have been thinking about A Separate Peace as a meditation on gender...how Finny’s purpose and destiny is to become a soldier and enlist during WWII, and how that’s held up as an ultimate fulfillment and expression of masculinity...how Finny is so good at performing his gender that he gets away with wearing a pink shirt, and how Gene--who is awkward and bookish and covetous of Finny’s effortless masculinity--is so envious that he puts on the pink shirt and pretends to be Finny in front of the mirror. I think it is this hint that gives away Gene’s obsession with Finny is not just him trying to outdo Finny scholastically but trying to become him, to literally embody to effortless athleticism and golden nature of Finny, and most crucially to escape his own insecurities.
“I lost part of myself to him then, and a soaring sense of freedom revealed that this must have been my purpose from the first: to become a part of Phineas.”
Then we have the accident, which is portrayed as impulsive, but the language of the novel implies that Gene’s body acts without his will--as if, unable to become and embody Finny, Gene sets out to punish him. Why? For the pink shirt? For the unspoken homoeroticism between them? The novel is in favor of letting many things be unsaid. It is the confession/tribunal finding Gene guilty of causing Finny’s accident that causes Finny to rebreak his leg and later die. As if obscuring the truth and letting all the things between them be forever unsaid would have preserved Finny’s life.
The novel ends with a slanted confession from adult Gene, where he implies that the accident was a punishment due to his insecurities (of gender? of sexuality?), and an observation that Finny never had insecurities; Finny’s effortless masculinity meant he was honest and at peace--a golden ideal that was never meant to last.

could you make a meta about jily especially how lily decides to forgive james :) i think it’d be really cute as a jily fan, also sorry if this is a bother i’m just too busy to read your fanfic rn🤍🤍🤍🤍
I have written about jily here if you're interested!
Like I said there, I think it was more about them getting to know each other over the course of a year, clearly being on the same side of the conflict, both of them growing up a bit and simply realising that they enjoyed each other's company! Imo the only way Lily would have accepted James is with strong evidence that he had changed for the better. So when she started seeing that he was fundamentally someone who shared her ideals, was capable of great kindness and bravery, and was committed to fighting Voldemort, it's not surprising she'd be drawn to him!
