⋆ The room is big; spaces between the shelves of books big enough to not feel cramped in the room; Maelie has heard a little about her journey, after all-- and she's semi-aware that libraries are a little scary for her in the wrong conditions ( there is no mirror in the room; a decision Maelie decided on when refurbishing the room after hearing Haru explain what she and Yui went through ). She gives her a comforting smile as her index finger hooks on a version of The Little Mermaid; a book she had illustrated herself with input from the three people in the valley that had experienced it ( which does remind her… how did Ursula survive that fight, anyways..? Nevermind, focus for now... ). Her eyes notice how she scratches at her teeth-- and Maelie gives a little smile as she draws the book out of its place. She could understand the embarrassment about not reading well-- Yui may not admit to it, but Maelie has noticed that she tends to be a perfectionist in her more studious habits.
⋆ ❝ I made a lot of treats for you to test your teeth on if they're itchy, ❞ she starts, hand moving the book to her other arm, her hand returns to the shelf, pointing carefully at each spine's title before she pulls out a copy of The Sword in The Stone and Frozen, as well, the three books stacked in her arms before she finishes and turns to her fully, ❝ it's okay if you struggle, Yui. That's part of growing and learning, y'know? ❞ She explains, a gentle smile on her face as she looks down at her; Noel was the same, before… the incident. But even now, they do still have difficulties when languages due to their upbringing and with the added merging with the Forgetting. At Yui's point, she pauses, and chuckles sheepishly, scratching her cheek with her free hand.
⋆ ❝ I actually made these books myself with the permission of the people in the Valley. They agreed that if there's someone new to the valley or if I start forgetting again, I could record their experiences and stories from before and during their time in here. ❞ She explains, ❝ You don't have to worry-- these books were made with their express permission-- um, I'm no artist, of course… but I did the drawings myself with their directions. ❞ She adds, she doesn't seem upset at all at Yui saying it-- she could understand her point, after all, ❝ But I know they'll appreciate you respecting their privacy, Yui. They're all-- ❞ a pause, ❝ --most of them are very nice, besides the… three broody ones, y'know, Scar, Ursula and Gothel. ❞ She states, she can't really say much on Gaston, considering how he's well-meaning but very egotistic ( and not very smart ), ❝ There's other books if you wish to look at anything else, though! ❞ A hand raises, and she taps a series of books made by a humourist doctor.
⋆ ❝ I got a lot to choose from! The choice is yours, Yui-- you're the first person to enter this room other than me, after all! ❞
officially at the point where we're starting to see where it's all headed and I am just going NYEEHEEHEE in delight at it all. ahhh...next week can't come soon enough...
Because Din, in the hylian creation myth, created the physical world. Naryu then created the laws - gravity, time, etc. And Farore finally created life - plants and people.
Din created the body, naryu the mind, Farore the soul.
And the triforce and its wielders so perfectly reflect that.
Ganon is physical power, he is big and intimidating and he breaks things. He is cunning and determined, but that's not what he focuses on. He is might makes right.
Zelda is wisdom and cleverness. She is stall tactics and information and team work. She is a powerful mage with a spine of steel, but that's not how she'll win. She is the pen being mightier than the sword.
Link is courage and persistence. He is the wild card sneaking behind enemy ranks, always moving, plunging into terrifying situations head first. He's a phenomenal fighter with a keen wit, but that's not what will get him through his challenges. He is bravery not being the absence of fear but the triumph over it.
They sit in perfect parallels to each other.
And ganon is reborn through his body - his resurrection is immortality. No matter how low he is cast, as long as he has a body he can claw his way back. He can cling to his power, build it ever higher.
Zelda is reborn through the magic of her bloodline. It's the accumulated knowledge handed down for generations, the unique power she must master, the skills she must develop to survive and get her kingdom out the other side intact. Even her name, the knowledge of herself, is handed down from all the way from the very first. Her ancestors knowledge of her future presence, her stability, is what gives her the edge.
Link is reborn in spirit. He is not bound by flesh or blood. Just like his wanderlust soul he can reappear in any time or place. His variation, his unpredictability, is exactly how he fights. It's what makes him so hard to pin down.
Ganons need to build strength means he can't chase after link. Links impulsiveness means zelda can outwit him. Zeldas stationary predictability means she's an easy target for ganon.
But the other direction?
Fire melts ice, ice redirects lightning, lightning burns fire.
I am once again reiterating that Leo could and should be a figure skater because what are ice skates if not twin blades? What is dual blade swordsmanship if not a dance-like performance? Using the skates as blades themselves could let Leo make portals be his ice rink no? I rest my case. ⛸️
Oh no. Maelie is being followed by a rather bemused-looking Scar. "Oh come now. I can't imagine the Valley would be devastated if one Sunlit bird goes missing. I'd even have it in my cave so no one needs to be upset. It would be our little secret."
⋆ ❝ And you know that you'd likely get caught instantly, even if I was the type to keep this a secret. ❞ She answers, hands grasping the bottom of the wooden box and hoisting it up, ❝ The Sunlit Plateau is your place-- and the sunbirds are technically your subjects, Scar, you're supposed to keep your subjects alive, no? ❞ She adds firmly, the box of gems shifted in her grip a little as she moves to another group of boxes nearby ( sorting materials and such are surprisingly taxing-- but she's not the type to quit whilst she's ahead ). A puff of air escapes her mouth as she tries not to laugh-- the sound simply coming out the same as a deflating balloon; but Maelie is still very bright.
⋆ ❝ If you're hungry, you can order a meat dish from Remy's, or get the meat itself from Gaston's. ❞ She points out, ❝ Moana also gives out fish for free, so you shouldn't want to eat to sunbirds! ❞ Maelie chastises, ❝ Why would you want the sunbirds, anyhow? We have poultry, you know-- they're pretty similar. ❞ The box is stacked onto another; a darker wooden box full of vitalys crystals from the mine, Maelie's hands draw back, rubbing her chin as she placed her other hand on her hip.
⋆ It is very difficult to appease and be diplomatic with most of the harder-to-please villagers, but she's managed to do it so long ago, and even if Maelie has been out of her element after so long, she can do it again. Besides, there's never been too much of a problem in the Valley since things with the Forgotten.
⋆ ❝ How come you want to eat those guys? ❞ She asks, looking at him, ❝ With everything we got, you have a lot of options already. ❞
“As president of the Scott Moir fan club, I could go on about his innate talent, musicality, passion, drive, commitment, work ethic. Truly, the list is so long cause he is the best in every way.”
“From her ability to move and create brilliant choreography to her athleticism and near perfect technique, she’s the greatest skater I’ve ever seen. Her brilliance is evident in everything she does and she is ruthlessly competitive. Those are some of my favourite traits but they don’t come close to the fire that lit within me when we skated together. Our eyes would meet on the ice and it would take us to another world.”
