A/n - One of the 2 fics I wrote for the Summer Collab hosted by @buerriberry!!

After July,established relationship, fluff. Vash is the sweetest man in the entire world! Gn reader. Mostly 98/Trimax Vash coded, but Tristamp works too.

Placing your hand against your forehead to shade your eyes, you scan the street for that familiar red coat and blond hair before muttering under your breath, “where the hell are you Vash?” 

You had woken up to a hastily written note on the bedside table, “Gone out for supplies. I’ll be back soon” You waited for an hour or so, showering and taking your time to get ready for your day. You knew you would both have to move on from this little oasis soon for fear of someone recognizing Vash and trying to cash in on the bounty, so you tried to take advantage of the quiet moments. You started to get worried, after no sign of him after another hour. Sighing, you grabbed your jacket and made your way to the busy street. 

“Of course” you muttered under your breath, spotting the blond mop of hair walking out of a bakery, “Hey!” you called out to him.

His face lit up as he jogged across the street towards you, holding a bag of what you just knew was doughnuts. “Hey” he said back to you, “I was just about to come get you. I have a surprise” you could see the excitement behind his eyes. 

“Oh?” you asked curiously, “What kind of surprise?” narrowing your eyes.

He just laughed, grabbing your hand and dragging you down the street, away from the inn. 

Neither of you had had much time to check out the small town when you got into it so late last night. You figure that must have been what he was doing this morning while gathering supplies. Vash was leading you outside the town, turning a corner behind a cliff. You gasped, your eyes widening, “What.. What is this?” 

Lush grass was spread across the ground replacing the dry sand. There were some trees dotting the aland, and you could smell something that you could only describe as fresh. Leaning down, you rubbed your hand across the grass. 

Vash knelt down beside you, “There is a geo plant here. The townsfolk found it a while back and built the city a little further away to help protect it from getting destroyed. Kinda helps that its hidden behind the cliffs.” His smile was wide. 

“How did you find it?” You asked him, you couldn’t pry your eyes away from the ground. 

“Found this place a while back. Helped them out and they showed me this. I always wanted to bring someone here and show them though.” Vash looked towards you and grabbed your hand “You want to see your surprise?” He asked, pulling you up. 

“Wait, this isn’t the surprise?” you asked as he guided you both further into the small field. Coming around a corner, you spotted a blanket on the ground and a small basket. “What's this?” you asked, your face lighting up. 

“This is the best place to have a picnic!” Vash replied. “Rem used to set them up on the grass all the time for us before…” his voice trailed off. 

Raising your hand, you cupped his cheek, turning his face towards you and smiling at him, knowingly, “Thank you for sharing something like this with me, Vash.” 

He tilted his face into your hand, nuzzling it for a moment before gesturing for you to take a seat. “I hope you’re hungry! I grabbed a few snacks and brought them out here earlier. I only went back into town for you, and these” He held the bag with the doughnuts up before placing them on the blanket. 

Chuckling, you sat down on the blanket, reaching a hand into the basket, you pull out a sandwich. “So what do you do at a picnic?” you questioned Vash, unwrapping your sandwich before taking a bite. 

“Well we used to eat, talk and listen to stories..” Vash grabbed your wrist, bringing your hand with the sandwich to his face and stealing a bite before you could pull away, smirking at you playfully.

“Hey!” You jerked your hand away, chuckling, taking another bite of your own before holding it out for him, which he graciously took. 

Time seemed to stop for you both, just enjoying each other's company, sharing your food with each other. Your laughter rang through the clearing while Vash shared some of his light hearted and funnier stories of his adventures on Gunsmoke. 

The breeze flew through the trees, the sound of the leaves rustling was something you had never heard before and you loved it. It was almost like a small fluttering. You closed your eyes, laying down on the blanket and enjoying the sound. You heard Vash’s coat rustling. Cracking one eye open you spotted him leaning back, his knee propped up with one arm resting on top of it, the other one behind him for support. 

“We only have a couple of days here, so we need to make the most of it.” His voice was low, like he was convincing himself he needed to leave this place. 

Reaching a hand out, you tugged his arm, pulling him down to lay beside you, “We can enjoy our time here right now.” you turned and smiled at him, “This place really is amazing.”

Settling in beside you, his hand ran down your arm, threading his fingers through yours, humming his agreement.

so so pleased to see that some of the dahlias I planted (a frankly crap job of it i did) have actually sprouted when i was convinced they'd croaked on account of my half-assery

Plant mama update!

Knives and Vash have now swapped places (turns out Vash is a sunlight freeloader) and Knives has grown two new leaves!! It also looks like another off shoot is starting to grow too.

As for Vash, he also has a new off shoot starting to grow too, so maybe soon they might get even more leaves!

Will have to empty some water out of the self irrigation system I have made for the colder months, to avoid freezing.

Keeping the food bottles though as a treat to the seedlings. I’ve heard spraying plants with apple cyder vinegar deters parasites, so might look into getting some of that too. It might get rid of the mould growing on top of the bedding. 🤔

I also talk to them sometimes about random shit. Not sure that works, might have to start threatening them! 🤣

I find keeping and nurturing plants is very fun and challenging because unlike sentient creatures, they can’t actually tell you what they need. You have to take either an educated guess (and get it wrong) or fuck it up completely and kill the little buggers. Either way it’s a learning curve, don’t make the same mistake twice.

Also another thing I love about plants is how peaceful and calming they are. There’s just something special about those you’ve cultivated yourself though. It’s like “I kept this alive”. It’s so rewarding. 😊

I’ve kept you here ages talking about plants, yeah sorry about that! I just think they’re so cool! 😅

I literally dipped from the last time I was here 🥲 but you know life's been all over the place then suddenly it's 4 months since reading chap 15 and now I'll be bingeing the new ones akjsksks I MISSED CEO WONWOO SO MUCH (ngl I got reminded to get back to tumblr ever since I started watching king the land 😎)

I'll continue where I left off from the last time I was here... I'm pretty good but I did change jobs around April so I didn't have time to read or even be here but since I have finally adjusted to work I can finally be back!! I'm also hoping I get the energy to write again bec I miss it too

I kinda get you with dating tbh. I feel like people today tend to rush relationships and I don't do well with that bec I want a connection first before jumping into labels and whatnot. we all have different ideas about love and dating so I hope you don't see it anymore as being "broken" all these love shenanigans are just complicated as it is

I personally don't date women but I do agree dating men are a pain in the ass AKDJSKKS so go ahead and do what you feel is better for you! a partner should be someone you can feel calm and safe with.

Love is so freaking complicated and tbh rn, I’ve “given up”. I let one man get kinda close to me, only to be let down once again a few weeks ago, so I’m really just at a low with that rn. I’ve obviously not completely given up, but I’m so tired of looking for it and shit like that, so idek… ANYWAYS, I have all of you here and my little imagination that’s keeping me occupied and happy, so I’m gonna stick to that for now🥰🥰

I’ve tried going on dates with women, but I feel like I’m so not obvious bisexual😭 like I truly think those women thought I just wanted them as friends… I don’t know how to change that 🥲 and YES I agree, a partner is someone you should be able to feel comfortable and safe with… kinda like with watching gose😂😭

you were hajime umemiya's beloved little plant shop darling, his favorite part of the town. he frequented your store whenever he needed new and fresh seeds, a chat and exchange of plant care tips here and there, and of course because he wanted to see you. 

umemiya fell in love with you at first sight, and he'd been courting you for a while now. how could he not, you were just the kindest and sweetest little dewdrop that ever existed. he swore he would do anything and everything in his power to keep you safe. 

"little one, look what i brought! i hope you're not allergic to flowe-" he pauses in his tracks, horrified to see your beloved plant store messy and ruined, plants and soil strewn everywhere, with scattered broken pieces of glass.

umemiya was fuming with anger. his smile quickly disappeared as he hurriedly went to find you. 

there you were, sitting helplessly on the ground, sobbing. it shattered his heart into a million pieces to see you this way. "what happened?" speaking to you in a soft voice, he caressed your cheek with his fingers, wiping away the strewn tears on your face with his thumb. "who did this to you, little one?" he inspected the cuts and bruises from your arm when you tried to defend yourself and your plants from being destroyed, but to no avail. 

the culprit was a street gang, one that attempted to cause war with furin. they heard from their sources that you were umemiya's special little seedling, one of the most important people in the world to him, and so they infiltrated the town to mess with him, messing with you being a part of their nasty plan.

little did they know, that was the biggest mistake of their lives. 

umemiya had his speculations and saw some men running away, looking like they were attempting escape. he sprinted towards them in lightning speed, his feral instinct to protect you overtaking him, repeatedly hitting and stepping on the guys, bashing their skulls in with his knee. 

"do you have any idea how much care and effort she puts into taking care of her shop and her plants?! you destroyed her dream." umemiya showed no signs of stopping, fists clashing against the guy's face. "what are you going to do about it now, huh? you made her cry, her beautiful smile is gone!" umemiya had never lost his composure like this. the thought of you getting hurt ruined him. he couldn't bear it. 

luckily, hiragi and his team came running to umemiya, stopping him from possibly killing the gang members, and told him they'll take it from there, and that he should go check on you. 

umemiya rushes back to your store and cradles you in his arms, comforting you and telling you that everything was going to be okay. you sobbed as he held you, umemiya taking off his furin coat and putting it around your shoulders. "i'm sorry, little one. i'm sorry that i couldn't protect what's important to you...but i'm glad i could at least protect what's important to me." he presses a kiss to your forehead. 

"ume...did you get hurt anywhere?" you looked up at him with puppy eyes, it worried you to see that his knuckles were all scratched up from defending your honor. 

"no worries! i'm fine, but you must be so scared, little one. there, there." he smoothens your hair with his hand and embraces you. "i'll come everyday and help you revive the shop, okay? i'm here now. i won't let anything bad happen to you anymore." he says to you. 

"come now, let's get your wounds treated." umemiya scoops you up in his arms, as if you were as light as a feather. "speaking of treat...how about i also treat you to the world's most delicious omurice? maybe it'll put back that smile on your face." you nodded in agreement, umemiya carrying you all the way to pothos elicited some giggles and whistles from onlookers around the town who thought that you two were the cutest. umemiya was definitely not afraid to show everyone his affection for you, and your eyes were only on him too, your knight in shining armor.

and that's how you and umemiya found love amidst the chaos.

"oh, by the way, they're a little squished but, here!" he hands you the forgotten flowers, as you let out a giggle. he tucks a piece of your hair behind your ear, thinking to himself for the millionth time how beautiful your smile is. "i hope you like it, little one!"

"ume, i've been meaning to ask...why do you call me 'little one'?" you inquired, placing the flowers on your lap gently, while you took a spoonful of omurice that you shared with umemiya at the pothos café, you two looking like little lovebirds only sharing one plate of food. 

"hmm, because you're so little compared to me, and you're my one and only." he smiled happily as your cheeks slowly turned as red as his tomato plant.
