Otter in Japan pt. 4 🌸

After our little accident we went with the Shinkansen to Tokyo 🎉 we had snacks and a nice view!

After we arrived in Tokyo, we went to sunshine city and saw a friend on a wall! But we didn’t visit said friend because there wasn’t much time (and we already went to an aquarium in Osaka) 🦦

Instead we went (second hand) shopping on a flee market; and later shopping in the mall

*sad otter noises, happy carrier noises*

On that second hand flea market, human saw another otter which looked a bit dumb (in a nice way) but also cute

In the end, big blep was allowed to come with us. He is a bit clingy though 🦦 and he doesn’t have a name yet; until he has one, he is just blep 👅

DPS and House MD Headcannons because it's a coping mechanism

Specifically about how they'd react to you being sad, and then how they give cuddles.

DPS

Neil - He knows automatically what he needs to do and gets you every blanket and pillow he can find. He lets you just kinda flop on top of him in whatever position feels comfy and reads you poetry.

Todd - He immediately he's into defense mode and gets irritable towards anyone who tries to talk to you without good reason. The passive aggressiveness is insane. He spoons you (he's the big spoon) and keeps one of his hands over your heart.

Knox - He acts big and tough and like it doesn't affect him, but in reality he's shredding himself up on the inside because of the fact that he let anything bad happen in the first place. He would let you rest you head in his lap and he'd baby you around for days afterward.

Meeks - He'd joke about it a bit at first, but quickly realize it's an issue and immediately change tone. He'd put on the radio for you and let you either sit alone or with him if you felt like it.

Pitts - He wouldn't be completely vocal about his worry for you, but he'd definitely be very expressive with actions. Constant fidgeting, jumpiness, and mainly sticking a lot closer than usual. He lets you lay your head on his chest while he messes with your hair until you fall asleep. Even if he's awake he won't move for fear of waking you up.

Charlie - He would be surprisingly serious about it all. If you didn't want to talk he would just sit there with you in silence until you felt like talking or fell asleep. He would set you on the bed and curl up somewhere close by so he can watch over you.

Cameron - He'd worry very quietly about you for a while before having a bit of an explosion about how scared he is that you aren't acting normal. He's honestly just as affected as you are by your sadness, and it clearly seeps onto him. He wraps around you like a little pipe cleaner and doesn't let go until you promise you're okay.

Keating - He would give you one of those little pep talks he does, and then give you the dad-shoulder-pat before smiling and walking away. He'd definitely keep an eye out for you in the coming days though, just to make sure you're still okay.

House M.D.

House - Immediately puts you in bed and goes to get you snacks and a drink. He sits with you for as long as you need and then some, curling up with you under the blanket and holding your hands.

Wilson - He gets really nervous about it being his fault, even though it never is. He lets you stay silent if you want and holds you close to his heart, letting his arms and legs tangle all mis matched with yours.

Cuddy - She gives you the mom hug and pep talk, and tells you to go see the hospital's therapist if you don't feel better before sending you back out to your job.

Chase - He loves to sing to you when you're sad, or if that doesn't work he'll pull out the violin. He's your personal weighted blanket and gives you kisses for a minimum of an hour.

Cameron - She can be a bit of an emotion trainwreck, but it's nice for you to cry together. She lays opposite to you on the couch and plays footsies with you until you feel better.

Foreman - He's quiet but that can be a good thing. He listens well and makes sure to keep his voice down so he doesn't overstimulate you and gives you back rubs.

Taub - He'd be too scared to give advice, but would totally give you a fierce hug and permission to vent if you needed to.

Kutner - He'd bake you a whole tray of brownies and watch your favorite show with you while you sit on his lap. You two always finish the brownies before the end of the night.

Thirteen - She'd be a bit too hard on you at first but quickly realize it's not the right approach and change it up. You end up just sitting in her lap and hugging her for a while, and it makes her feel really comfortable around you knowing you felt safe around her.

Masters - She'd freak out a little bit and try to comfort you to the best of her ability, but would end up just giving a weird hug and finding someone else to help because she's afraid of making things worse.

Park - Surprisingly good at being comforting. Even though she's small she'd be the best bear hugger.

Rowling isn't denying holocaust. She just pointed out that burning of transgender health books is a lie as that form of cosmetic surgery didn't exist. But of course you knew that already, didn't you?

I was thinking I'd probably see one of you! You're wrong :) Let's review the history a bit, shall we?

In this case, what we're talking about is the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, or in English, The Institute of Sexology. This Institute was founded and headed by a gay Jewish sexologist named Magnus Hirschfeld. It was founded in July of 1919 as the first sexology research clinic in the world, and was run as a private, non-profit clinic. Hirschfeld and the researchers who worked there would give out consultations, medical advice, and even treatments for free to their poorer clientele, as well as give thousands of lectures and build a unique library full of books on gender, sexuality, and eroticism. Of course, being a gay man, Hirschfeld focused a lot on the gay community and proving that homosexuality was natural and could not be "cured".

Hirschfeld was unique in his time because he believed that nobody's gender was either one or the other. Rather, he contended that everyone is a mixture of both male and female, with every individual having their own unique mix of traits.

This leads into the Institute's work with transgender patients. Hirschfeld was actually the one to coin the term "transsexual" in 1923, though this word didn't become popular phrasing until 30 years later when Harry Benjamin began expanding his research (I'll just be shortening it to trans for this brief overview.) For the Institute, their revolutionary work with gay men eventually began to attract other members of the LGBTA+, including of course trans people.

Contrary to what Anon says, sex reassignment surgery was first tested in 1912. It'd already being used on humans throughout Europe during the 1920's by the time a doctor at the Institute named Ludwig Levy-Lenz began performing it on patients in 1931. Hirschfeld was at first opposed, but he came around quickly because it lowered the rate of suicide among their trans patients. Not only was reassignment performed at the Institute, but both facial feminization and facial masculization surgery were also done.

The Institute employed some of these patients, gave them therapy to help with other issues, even gave some of the mentioned surgeries for free to this who could not afford it! They spoke out on their behalf to the public, even getting Berlin police to help them create "transvestite passes" to allow people to dress however they wanted without the threat of being arrested. They worked together to fight the law, including trying to strike down Paragraph 175, which made it illegal to be homosexual. The picture below is from their holiday party, Magnus Hirschfeld being the gentleman on the right with the fabulous mustache. Many of the other people in this photo are transgender.

There was always push back against the Institute, especially from conservatives who saw all of this as a bad thing. But conservatism can't stop progress without destroying it. They weren't willing to go that far for a good while. It all ended in March of 1933, when a new Chancellor was elected. The Nazis did not like homosexuals for several reasons. Chief among them, we break the boundaries of "normal" society. Shortly after the election, on May 6th, the book burnings began. The Jewish, gay, and obviously liberal Magnus Hirschfeld and his library of boundary-breaking literature was one of the very first targets. Thankfully, Hirschfeld was spared by virtue of being in Paris at the time (he would die in 1935, before the Nazis were able to invade France). His library wasn't so lucky.

This famous picture of the book burnings was taken after the Institute of Sexology had been raided. That's their books. Literature on so much about sexuality, eroticism, and gender, yes including their new work on trans people. This is the trans community's Alexandria. We're incredibly lucky that enough of it survived for Harry Benjamin and everyone who came after him was able to build on the Institute's work.

As the Holocaust went on, the homosexuals of Germany became a targeted group. This did include transgender people, no matter what you say. To deny this reality is Holocaust denial. JK Rowling and everyone else who tries to pretend like this isn't reality is participating in that evil. You're agreeing with the Nazis.
