Today I present to you, a silly little headcanon that’s near and dear to my heart: Eddie Munson, local carnival freak.
At the edge of Hawkins, there’s a year-round carnival, lively and loud from spring through fall, and quiet and deserted during the winter time. There are stands where you play games to win prizes, food stalls with delicious sweets, attractions that make your head spin, and in the middle of it all, the freak show.
That’s where little Eddie Munson grows up, in between the strange and bizarre. His parents both work at the carnival, his dad at the shooting range, his mom at the freak show as a so-called ‘real-life mermaid’ (when Eddie was a baby, they even dressed him up in a similar mermaid tail, showcasing him as a merbaby). Eddie’s uncle Wayne also works at the freak show, but doing behind the scenes jobs, rather than acting.
For a kid, growing up at a carnival feels magical. Every day, Eddie run around across the grounds, goes on rides for free, and gets doted on by the the nice ladies at the funnel cake stand, who always saves him a little extra. He also learns all the behind the scenes secrets, like how balloon popping stand is kind of rigged and how the bearded lady glues on extra hair to make her beard look fuller. For him, it’s paradise.
His father wants him to get his hands dirty as soon as he’s old enough, teaching how to clean the rifles and how to make the customer think they’re about to win big, when in actuality, they’re sure to lose. Eddie doesn’t like working with his dad, he always loses his temper whenever Eddie messes something up or complains that his dad didn’t play fair.
And while he doesn’t like working at the shooting range, he loves working at the freak show. He’d spent ages backstage, watching the actors get ready, listening to his mom talk as she did her make-up and got into her costume, helping uncle Wayne count the tickets in the ticket booth.
But what really gets Eddie’s heart racing is when the lights went out and the show’s announcer, Theodore, walks on stage. He’s the one outside in his velvet top hat and cherry red tails who lures people in with promises of a magical and mysterious show, and that showmanship continues inside the tent. With flailing hands and a deep, mesmerizing voice, he compels the audience as he introduces the acts and Eddie watches him with big eyes everyday. When he grows up, he wants to be exactly like Theo.
Theo takes him under his wing, teaches him the secrets of presentation and storytelling but every time Eddie begs him to get on stage, Theo shakes his head and tells him he’s not ready yet. Eddie practices and practices, talking to himself in the ticket booth - Wayne said he’s old enough to run that by himself now - and telling his mother the most elaborate stories. Still, he’s stuck in the ticket booth most of the days, scribbling stories he’d tell one day on a notepad.
One day, Theo is up on his soapbox in front of the tent, when he has the worst coughing fit Eddie has ever seen. He swears he’s too sick to continue so Wayne pushes Eddie forward. He tumbles onto the wooden crate, his limbs trembling as he watches the carnival goers passing by. His voice is shaky at first, but then he remembers Theo’s advice: get their attention and make sure you keep it.
So, Eddie howls like a goddamn wolf, the carnival visitors turn their heads in curiosity and then Eddie presents the freak show like he has done so a thousand times before.
It works.
It works really well, in fact.
Turns out, people go crazy for a scrawny kid with messy curls who promises them a show beyond their wildest imagination. Even people who’d normally never set foot inside, like those preppy kids in their spotless white polos and perfectly coiffed hair, are fascinated by Eddie’s voice and showmanship.
Eddie’s heart is racing once he’s back inside the tent, his mouth going a hundred miles an hour as he tells his mom about what just happened. She just smiles and ruffles his curls and tells him she’s so proud of him. Wayne claps him on the back, tells him a nice work, kiddo and hurries back to start the show.
Eddie follows him, confused because how is the show going to start when Theo is too sick to even speak and why is Theo all dressed up in his top hat and tailcoat sauntering across the stage already? But then, Theo catches his eye from across the tent and winks at him and Eddie knows it was an all act to give his first taste of actual showmanship. And now, he’s hungry for more, so he and Theo make a deal. Eddie’s allowed to be announcer outside, doing whatever it takes to get people inside the tent, and Theo takes care of the presentation inside, saying that Eddie has to work hard to earn his top hat and tails.
It’s a perfectly good solution, except that people outside the carnival start to notice too. The kids who walk past him as he stands on his soapbox, are the same kids that walk past him in the hallways at school and once word gets out that Eddie is the one pulling crazy stunts to get people to see the most bizarre things, they start to make fun of him for it. They whisper rumors behind his back and some girls act all scared as he sits down in class. Some of the boys are shoving him and taunting him to tell them a good story. When he freezes on the spot, unable to speak, they laugh at him and one boy even says that he can see why they hired Eddie because he’s just as big of a freak as the rest of them.
After yet another day of people taunting him for no reason, Eddie cries on the way home. Not because they hurt his feelings, but because he doesn’t understand what his classmates see, he doesn’t see how people could ever think that the people he grew up with, could ever be scary. Because those are the same people who help him with his math homework, who tell jokes and make him laugh until his stomach hurts, who hold his hand when his mom gets sick and his dad gets home drunk out of his mind. Just because they are (or act) a little different, doesn’t mean they’re scary or weird, just means they’re unique.
From that moment on, Eddie wears his newly acquired nickname with pride because his classmates might not see it, but he’s proud to be a freak.

Overheard my mom talking to my grandma about something and saying "It's not good that [she]'s been asleep so much, it doesn't seem healthy"
Which. Thanks for the concern I think, but fuck you for the gender. Also why not just ask me why I was asleep so much yourself? Talking about me behind my back smh

soft dom!remus x reader who lives with a. family member who's not so nice and always tries to embarrass her or make her feel bad about herself? my grandmas like this and i'm just so tired of it lol. obviously you do not have to write this if you don't feel comfy, i love you and ur writing !
that's so mean and i hope you can get out of there soon doll <3 hopefully this can bring you some comfort for a little bit.
You call Remus while you're just on the brink of tears.
"Hey dovey," he sounds so happy and upbeat you debate if you should tell him. At your silence, Remus speaks again. "Are you okay, dove?"
You sigh, all shaky and broken and Remus coos on the other end of the phone call.
"Not really." you mumble, picking at a scabbed mosquito bite on your thigh. If Remus were here, he'd take your hands in his and give your fingers a squeeze, but he isn't here and picking at the scab helps you to keep your breathing even.
"What happened, baby?" you can hear him shuffling. "Need me to come get you?"
"They're just being mean again, and no one does anything." you flop onto your bed, head hitting one of your stuffies and you grab onto it's leg.
"Every time I say anything I'm the bad guy. I can't" your breath shudders with the realisation of what you're going to say. You can't live here anymore. "I don't think I can stay here anymore."
Remus sighs harsh down the line, wanting desperately to be near you so he can pull you into his lap and tell you he'll make everything okay.
He settles for doing it over the phone while he starts his car. "Pack your bags baby," you frown.
"Everything?" you ask shakily and though you can't see, Remus smiles. Remus had said they only had one last chance, when you'd driven to his house in tears and shaking so hard he'd been worried that you were going to pass out.
"Everything, dove." You don't hesitate and start packing everything you own away into a suitcase.
You don't have much, just clothes, your prized stuffed toys, shoes [which are on your feet] and your books. Everything fits tidily into the suitcase and a carryon.
"I'll be there in twenty minutes, and you can stay with me." Remus says it like it's the easiest thing in the world- your moving in with him. Like it won't possibly cause more problems in this house, which it might, but he doesn't want you to factor in their feelings anymore.
"You deserve a home that's peaceful, not one filled with shouting and screaming and mean names, dovey." he says it so softly you can't help the way your breath hitches and the tears finally tumble down your cheeks.
"Yeah," you murmur, wiping at your tears and sighing. "I'll wait for you on the front step."
Remus really wishes he could be there now. He also knows why you want to wait on the front step, because then he doesn't have to come in and give everyone in the house a piece of his mind before whisking you away.
"Make sure you have an umbrella and your sweater, it's gonna start raining." you're already wearing his green one, with the yours and his initials stitched into the wrist cuff.
"Thanks Remmy," you sniffle and grabs your thighs and start hauling them to the door.
"No need for that dove, I'm ten minutes out. We can go to the store after, see if they have any of your favourite gummies. Forgot to stock up after this weekend."
You smile, you'd like nothing more. "I'll be waiting, Remmy."

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: MIND BLOWN!
You don’t even notice when the notification pops up in the lower left corner of your screen. It’s the smallest of blips, hardly signified by the quiet ding from your Steam account in a pitiful attempt to congratulate you for the monstrous crimes you were currently committing on your screen.
But hey, you’ve got to experience the entire game, right?
“What the fuck,” you whisper to yourself as you click on the second dialogue option, eyes locked on your screen is disbelief in your own actions, “What the fuck.”
2. Take its tentacle in your hand, invite it in.
You watch in absolute awe as, who would have guessed, your Tav takes the tentacle in their hand, inviting the Mind Flayer in.
Oh, you’re not seeing Heaven for this. You’re getting kicked straight to Hell, receipts pulled up of this very moment in your lifetime. That time you only cackled when your younger sibling broke their wrist? Fine. That time you let a door slam shut on some random grandma? Forgivable.
But making your video game character fuck the tentacled-should-be-enemy? No, yeah, you’re heading straight to the flames.
“Oh. My. God.”
You really, really, really should have noticed the achievement notification. Should have considered the fact that this was an achievement at all. Should have considered that your achievement would be public. Should have noticed who was currently online, and who would be getting the notification of your sins.
Should of thought of your boyfriend, in the living room, playing the very same game on your shared gaming laptop that had been reduced to solely allowing the two of you to play Baldur’s Gate 3 at the same time.
But you’re too entranced by tentacles and embarrassment and shit, is this kind of hot? Is The Emperor kind of hot? to think of any of this until it’s too late.
One moment, you’re leaning far more forward than you had realized, drawn into the screen as your mouth hangs wide open in that continued naivety of disbelief that the game actually allowed this, and the next, two hands are landing on the back of your chair and shaking you out of the trance.
“Shit!” you can’t help but scream, scrambling wildly to yank off your headset with flailing hands. A few of your knuckles connect with something hard, and you spin quickly to find Eddie standing there with a hand clutched over his nose, “Oh my God, baby, I’m so sor-”
“Are you fucking the mindflayer?” he all but yells, not looking to be in an ounce of pain even as he continues to shield his face where your hand had blatantly smacked him. His eyes catch the screen in the same trance you had just been under before yelling out, “Holy shit, you’re fucking the mindflayer!”
“It’s not what it looks like-”
“You are literally fucking the space squid right now.”
“I didn’t mean to-”
“You’re fucking a glorified piece of sushi right now. You are literally-”
For the second time in the span of what hasn’t even been a full minute, your hand slaps Eddie’s face. This time, it’s more purposeful, slamming your palm right over his mouth before he can continue what you can’t even be sure is teasing.
And you’re missing the entire scene. Thank God for learning to quicksave as a reflex, you suppose.
“Eddie, I swear to God, do not speak another word when I drop my hand,” you threaten, no real violence behind your words as he glowers at you. You can see all that mischief swirling behind the look he gives you, every possible bad idea to ever exist in this Universe manifesting in those big brown eyes as they stare widely into yours. “Do you understand?”
He nods. Your mistake for trusting him, you suppose.
The moment your hand has dropped from him, it reveals that giddy smile, dimples screaming for your instant regret before he even opens his mouth to say, “Play it again.”
“Excuse me?”
“Go ahead,” he waves towards the screen where the scene is beginning to wrap up, your current companions interrupting the moment in horror. If you had still been entranced, you would have been an absolute mess. But all your focus had been stolen away to the boy towering over you, “Reload the save. Replay the scene for me.”
Your brows furrow as you cross your arms, shaking your head, “No.”
“No?”
“No,” you repeat yourself more firmly, leaning into your stubbornness, “I am not replaying the scene for you after you just made fun of me for partaking in it.”
Eddie wastes no time pouting as he throws himself down onto the bed nearby, looking at you with unimaginably forced disappointment, “Come on. You’re no fun.”
You hate how cute he looks right now. Bottom lip jutted out for dramatic effect, legs splayed out to straddle the corner of the bed. He leans back on his arms, torso elongating as you watch him take every steady and expectant breath. He looks determined.
Unlucky for him, you’re just as stoic in your decision.
“C’mon,” he whines softly, changing his approach when he realizes the cocky exterior isn’t chipping away at that set look on your face, no faltering in your decision to ignore his request, “Please? We both know that I’m not going to be fucking the squid, so this is my only chance to see the-”
“He’s not a squid,” you groan, starting to turn your chair to face the screen again and continue your gameplay, “Might I remind you just how hot my guardian was prior to the whole tentacle reveal? You can’t even blame me for succumbing to this, you know.”
His lips press together tightly, biting back a grin.
“Your guardian was very hot. But, pray tell, baby, why did you choose to fuck the tentacled version?” You’re not having this conversation. You blatantly refuse to, picking your headphones back up and beginning to slip them over your ears when Eddie’s hand shoots out to stop you, “Wait. I have an idea.”
“I’m not reloading the save so you can see the scene, Eddie-”
“What if…. I technically don’t watch the scene?”
You halt all movement willingly, headphones still hovering in midair even as Eddie takes his hand away. “What do you mean?”
He leans forward, elbows digging into his thighs, sly smile shimmering on his lips as he finally abandons the god-forsaken pout. He’s radiating pride as he simply asks, “Wanna have your mind blown in real life?”
Your entire body flushes with heat, starting to actually get embarrassed that Eddie wasn’t letting this go.
“With God as my witness, if you do not stop making fun of me for this, I will kick you out of this room and lock the door.”
“I’m not making fun of you,” he says slowly, inching off of the bed, dropping to his knees on the carpet of your shared bedroom, “Not in the slightest, sweetheart. I’m making you an offer.”
You eye him cautiously as he slowly makes his way closer to you. When he’s nearly tucked under your desk, you’re quick to bring your knees up, still terribly weary and unsure of where he’s going with this.
“What do you mean then, having my mind blown in real life?”
Eddie’s smile has gone downright salacious as he easily fits himself under the desk that holds your computer, situating himself perfectly so that if you were to drop your legs back down, he’d be kneeling prettily between your knees.
“Reload the scene. And drop your legs, yeah?”
He says it so casually, nonchalance dripping from his tone as if he’s just asked you to pass him salt or inquired about the weather rather than the actual request he was insinuating. It has your knees pressing more tightly together, your chin dropping on top of them as you stare down at him in the cramped space.
“Are you… are you seriously suggesting what I think you’re suggesting right now?” you question, each word falling from your mouth slowly.
It had been a while since either of you had really gotten your hands on one another. Not on purpose, of course. The two of you had simply fallen victim to the immersive game, spending most of your free time either playing your individual campaigns or joining one another on a multiplayer one. Afternoons melted away from gameplay, and the two of you were usually already to the point of exhaustion once you’d end up in bed together. There had been a certain lack of affectionate touches, suggestive squeezes of your thighs and faux-innocent kisses of the neck. And neither had noticed, minds equally preoccupied on thoughts of pixelated characters and harrowing journeys over a screen.
You can’t remember the last time either of you outright suggested sex.
“Deathly serious,” you can see the shine of his teeth as he flashes them in the dark space. You continue to hesitate until he quickly adds on, “Only if you want to, of course. If not, I can always fuck off and leave you to Squidwar-”
“I want to,” you interrupt, ignoring the new nickname for the Mind Flayer that he had started to taunt you with. You carefully let your feet slip off your chair, avoiding knocking him in the face with your ankles. He aids you, a careful hand running from the back of your knee and down your calf as he guides your legs to rest on his shoulders. The fact that you had started gaming without pants was suddenly very helpful.
“Good girl,” it’s sort of ridiculous, the way his words cut right to your core, nearly making you let out a small gasp. Your body is suddenly very aware of just how long the accidental bout of celibacy had been, “A few rules before we begin. You’re going to reload the scene, and really watch it this time. Headphones and all, got it?”
He places a chaste kiss to your inner thigh, and this time, you can’t bite back your little gasp. It only elicits a chuckle from him as you eagerly nod. You could care less about the game at this point, but you can’t seem to find the words to tell him this.
“If you stop focusing on the scene, I stop eating this pretty little pussy.”
If you weren’t so light-headed from the way his breath hits your clothed core currently, you’d probably see just how ridiculous this entire scenario was. It was downright laughable. Even a little shameful, honestly. By no means was it the weirdest situation that you and Eddie had turned into a game of sex, but it was certainly up there.
God, you were in love with a fucking weirdo. And it made you just as weird, if not weirder, as he was.
He gently slaps at your knee, forcing your attention to focus back on him, “Got it?”
“Got it,” you manage to choke out just as his hands begin to trail up to your hips, playing with the lace of your panties teasingly.
You lift yourself ever so slightly off the chair as he slips your underwear off, bringing the fabric down agonizingly slow. He has to shuffle plenty, guiding your limbs around just to finally remove the garment, but you hardly pay attention to all that awkwardness. Your Tav is still on the screen, awaiting instruction just as you were.
When Eddie finally has your panties off, knees back to hanging on his shoulders, you can hear him let out a soft groan at the sight of you.
“Fuck,” he sighs gently, leaning his cheek against your knee ever so slightly, “The tentacles really do it for you, huh? Already fucking soaking-”
“Shut up about the tentacles,” you groan out, throwing your hand back in exasperation, “For the love of God, please shut up about the-”
“Ah, ah,” he tsks, pulling farther away from you, “Might I remind you the whole point of this is all those tentacles on your screen right now, baby? Maybe I should have you hook up your speakers instead of your headphones just to make sure I can hear the entire scene.”
You’d honestly forgotten about the scene at this point. It was the least intriguing part of your evening now.
When you stay quiet, biting your lip to avoid making anymore smart ass remarks that would only prolong what you desperately wanted, desperately needed, he finally takes it as his cue.
That damn grin, dimples and all, look up at you with all the ill intent in the world as he gestures for you to slip on your headphones. You do it immediately, and just before you’ve fully engulfed your ears with them, Eddie says, “Now, please do the honors, and hit F8 for me, doll.”
Immediately, the only noise you can hear is the ambience from the game. One swift punch of your F8 key pauses it entirely, sudden music replacing it as the reload screen appears on the computer. Eddie waits, staring up at you for a few moments, probably having memorized just how long these damn reloads take from how much the two of you save scum in the game (Ironic, given during your first playthroughs, he’d scolded you endlessly for save scumming rather than just trusting the dice and letting it all play out.)
After a few beats of stillness, you can see the scene prepared and ready for you to begin to click the options again to initiate the scene in your peripheral. Your eyes are still locked on Eddie’s, though.
He makes no move to move any closer to you, though, still smirking before he finally mouths ‘watch the game’.
It’s only once you do as you’ve been told that he has his mouth on you.
He starts slowly as you distract yourself with the screen, peppering kisses along your knees and inner thighs, working his way towards your pussy. Teasing you, taunting you, dangling what he knows you want so badly that it aches and has you spasming around absolutely nothing. It takes more effort than you could care to admit to focus your vision on the dialogue options, and even more to remember which one is going to initiate the goddamned scene.
When your shaking hand reaches for the mouse and finally clicks the correct option (thank God), his mouth finally hovers over your slick folds.
Whatever the Emperor says falls on ringing ears. Subtitles are useless, the words blurring together on the screen when his tongue takes its first stride across your core.
Your knuckles are paling from how tightly you grip your poor mouse, and you almost consider what you would do if this situation leads to you breaking such a vital piece of the shared gaming setup, but Eddie’s mouth is quick to distract you. You feel the vibrations of the hums falling from his lips just as they trail to wrap around your clit, forming suction as he gives one harsh suck that has your mouth falling open in a silent gasp. Your eyes can barely manage to stay open as you blindly click for the next dialogue option being presented.
Kiss the tentacle and hope that it’s an erogenous appendage.
Not quite the same path you’d taken before, but it’ll get the job done. Especially when Eddie’s fingers are digging into the flesh of your thighs even harsher, pressing himself even harder against you as his tongue dances over your sensitive bundle of nerves. Kitten licks, but every single one sends a bolt of electricity up your spine.
The sound that comes from the Emperor in the game doesn’t matter to you, completely overridden by the audible groan you can just barely catch from Eddie as your headphones begin to slip off.
Was that… a good sound?
You hadn’t noticed you’d breathily recited the words you read across the scene until movement below the desk catches your eye, and Eddie is nodding into your cunt more eagerly than the character on the screen could ever be capable of.
It’s the type of eagerness that has you whimpering, the kind of enthusiasm that guides one of your hands away from the keyboard and down to tangle into the roots of Eddie’s curls.
He’s going to be the death of you.
His grip tightens until he’s tugging your hips hard enough to bring you further slumped down in your seat, letting your thighs cradle either side of his head. His nose bumping your sensitive clit as his tongue circles teasing against your entrance. Once, twice – and then it dives in, pushing you to arch your back, a soft cry leaving you as you yank at his hair.
With a heaving chest, you find yourself reciting another line of words from the screen despite making no move to click any options, “Do it again. Please, God- do it again.”
He lifts to look at you at that, smiling wide with glistening lips and chin alike, “God? Oh, you’re making me blush, babe.”
“Eddie-” you start, but a smack on your thigh from one of his ringed hands effectively shuts you up.
“Play the game, and I’ll do it again.”
Your hand smacks against the mouse, and you must click the right option, the exact command you’d just demanded of Eddie, because the scene continues on.
You’re not watching the screen. Not consistently. Your eyes can’t stop flickering down to your boy, to his dark eyes shining up at you as he keeps his face buried between your thighs, the only thing giving away his current grin being the slightest crinkle beside those eyes.
The entire sequence from before is simply playing out, just as before, but your mind stays on the feeling of Eddie’s tongue on you. When he releases one of your thighs and brings his fingers into the mix, stretching you out far more fully than his tongue had, you’re preening beneath his touch. Gasps, moans, whimpers, sobs – they all fall from your lip as he knows just how to work you. All the right touches to bring your neglected body to the precipice, practically worshiping you on his knees as the brightness of the screen exposes your face to him. Eyes tightly screwed shut, mouth wide open, lips swollen from poor attempts to keep your noises down through biting them.
It only encourages him further. Only has him forgetting entirely about the game as well, the only goal on his mind being making you cum on his tongue.
And you do.
In hot waves, broken calls of his name, both hands tugging mercilessly on his hair. Your thighs are squeezing his cheeks tightly as you clench down on his fingers.
Somewhere between all the whispers of his name, numerous squeaks of please falling from your mouth, he slows down. He gives you a chance to bask in the after-warmth of it all, your entire body buzzing as you catch your breath. You truly, genuinely hadn’t expected to cum that quickly. But it had been a while, and if anyone knew your body well enough to get you off in record speed, it was the man currently still seated on sore knees with a winning grin on his face.
“Your headphones aren’t even on anymore, you cheater,” he teases, sounding just as out of breath as you felt.
You detangle your fingers from his hair, retracting your hands just far enough for one of them to flip him off, “Shut up.”
Your eyes are still closed, head leaning back almost painfully as the headphones cut into your neck. If you could live in this moment forever, you probably would.
He presses forward, placing a quick peck to your sensitive core that makes your legs try to squeeze together instinctually, “Make me.”
At those two words, you finally open your eyes, slowly lolling your head towards him, eyes narrowing at the challenge.
“Get off the floor and onto the bed, and I will.”
You don’t have to tell him twice.
The entire process somehow manages to remind you just how ridiculous the situation was. Watching Eddie clamber clumsily out from beneath your desk, cheekily flashing you the set of panties he’d taken off of you that he shoves into his pocket. Eyes glued on him as he flops himself down onto your shared bed, still looking far too proud of himself.
Your heart swells as you look at the absolute idiot, knowing he was yours.
“Well?” he asks expectantly, raising his eyebrows as he shimmies his shoulders jokingly, “You gonna make me or not, sweetheart?”
You’re quick to start to jump out of your chair, just eager to be close to him again, deciding the game could wait until tomorrow. Just as you do, however, Eddie puts up a hand, biting back an even wider smile.
“I’m only reminding you because I won’t hear the end of it otherwise,” he drawls, slowly pointing a finger back towards the desk, “Don’t forget to press F5.”
You roll your eyes, but you do as he says.
It works. It’ll save you time next time you reload the game – allowing you to skip the entire encounter, considering the way you’ve discovered there are far more fun ways to have your mind blown.
Now, however, it was Eddie’s turn.

𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐘-𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐘 𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐑
Tumblr media
A shrill shout causes you to dart your attention in the direction it came from. You leave all the work you were occupied with and run towards the source of the sound, which was the master bathroom.
You knock on the bathroom door, panicking, where your lover is supposed to be taking a bath. All kinds of scenarios ranging from scalding hot water burning his skin to him slipping and getting a concussion, keep running in your head, "Babe what's wrong?"
You hear hurried, wet footsteps thumping on the marble-tiled floor. He opens the door with a loud bang, making you flinch. He is standing in front of you, wearing nothing but his bath towel around his waist, leaving his torso for you to marvel at.
"What's wrong?" You ask, looking into his restless eyes.
He rests a hand against the doorframe, water dripping down his body and creating a puddle. Whatever the matter was, it was far more critical than drying himself or looking decent.
"Spider," he says breathlessly, "there is a spider in the bathroom."
You blink. Once, twice, thrice and then stare at the man in front of you. You say the S-word again to confirm if you are hearing correctly or if you've turned into a sixty-year-old grandma, "a spider?"
"A spider," he says and nods aggressively, "get it out of there."
You don't know whether to be amused or irritated. Is there a camera anywhere? Is he filming a prank?
"What do you want me to do?" You ask, keeping your hands on your hips.
"Kill it," he says with wide eyes and you can't help but grin a little at this absurd situation of a behemoth of a man being scared of a tiny spider.
"Aren't you the man here?" You muse, playing along a little as he stands there, half-naked.
His brows furrow and he stares at you in offence. "Oh so now patriarchal standards come into play? In this situation? We are in the twenty-first century! And what about 'equality' and this 'willpower' you talk of when I say I'll pay for our dates? However, you either split the bill or make an advanced booking and now I have to make an advanced booking before your advanced booking."
"Okay, Okay I get it." You say exasperatedly and walk into the washroom and ask him to point at the tiny predator, "How big is it?" You say and immediately think of a 'that's what she said' joke, but he is too stressed to notice.
He makes a gap between his index and thumb and implies that the spider is about half an inch big- Wait hold on, that's one huge spider.
Your eyes widen as you finally understand his fear. You remove your slipper and wield it like a weapon and look around, "where is it?"
He stands beside you but sweatdrops as he realizes the spider is nowhere to be found. "It's not there anymore."
You look around the bathroom, panicking from your position and find the spider nowhere.
You then look back at your beloved with a mutual understanding of what to do next, "pack your things we are leaving."

Poppy character development appreciation post!
In Branch's old pod, when Poppy says he can talk to her, she pays full attention, never takes her eyes off him, and when he hesitates she continues to smile patiently. In World Tour, while he's trying to talk to her, she has her back to him and is focusing on watering the flowers, and when he hesitates, she only half pays attention.
When a friendly but random stranger picks up Branch who is clearly not liking to be thrown around, Poppy doesn't laugh about it or go along with it. And instead of saying politely, "hey, excuse me, could you please put him down", she literally snaps at JD, "STOP, PUT HIM DOWN RIGHT NOW". (and of course she refers to Branch as her boyfriend🥰)
"JD is only here because he needs something". When JD confirms that's true, Poppy could've said, "Nah, there's more to it than that", and JD could've said, "Yeah, Floyd's in danger..." and Poppy would've gone "See, told you..." Instead, she gives JD a deadpan look and says flatly, "C'mon, I'm trying here." Again, blunt and not Queen Poppy's usual giddy politeness.
Poppy wants to hear the full story of how she and Viva got separated, whereas before Poppy would've accepted Viva's vague explanation like, "Oh well, we're together now, everything's cupcakes and rainbows!" Now, Poppy recognizes Viva is changing the subject to avoid discussing negative feelings, and thanks to Branch, Poppy now knows that sugarcoating everything is not the way to deal with your problems. Also, Poppy is patient and gentle with Viva - she understands this is a sensitive / painful topic for her sister, and isn't pestering, "C'mon, tell me, tell me, I gotta know!"
In Trolls 1, when Cloud Guy teases Branch who clearly is not amused, Poppy laughs despite the life or death situation they're in. In Trolls 3, when JD teases Branch about wearing a smaller diaper, Poppy doesn't find it funny and doesn't say something like "Oh, come on, Branch, just go with it, have fun!"
When Branch tells Poppy he didn't need his brothers growing up and doesn't need them now, Poppy doesn't object or try to convince him to go back and make it work with them anyway. She just follows him, supporting him in the way he needs: being there for him no matter what. Since things didn't work out with Viva, Poppy realized family is indeed complicated.
When Poppy stops Branch from walking away, she doesn't only say, "I've always been by your side, give me some credit". She says how they've been by each other's sides. She didn't get annoyed that he implied she'll leave him, because she sees now that he's afraid of losing her like he lost his brothers and his grandma. She tells him she's not going anywhere in a sincere tone, not being silly or dismissive.
At Mount Rageous, Branch is the one taking the lead / making the plans while Poppy supports it and follows his lead. She isn't being reckless with Branch blindly following along, and she isn't making light of the situation (like in the first movie she scrapbooks his plan. Also, her 'plan' is to 'rescue everyone and make it home safely', which Branch points out is not a plan. Now she's helping him formulate an actual plan). When trying to get onto the yacht, she asks Branch, "What do we do?" She now is willing to listen to him and respects that he can be a leader, not just her.
Poppy very bluntly points out Velvet/Veneer's bad behaviour. No trying to justify it, no trying to change their minds with kind words and catchy songs, no asking nicely to let Brozone go - she screams that their phonies in front of a massive crowd, and the way she's angrily pacing tells me she wanted to say something worse. A huge change from Movie 1 and Movie 2 Poppy.
The protective-hand-reaching forward thing that Branch has always done to Poppy - she did to him!
BONUS - development from both Branch and Poppy: when she goes on her sister rant and he snaps her out of it, he starts shouting her name then softens, while she realizes what she's doing, snaps out of it, instantly calms down and gets to the point.
Here are some other great Poppy development posts I came across:

Brozone Random Headcannons
Tumblr media
So I've seen the Trolls Band Together 3 times and counting and it was so good! So to get back in the groove, and after having some kind words come my way from multiple people, I really appreciate you guys! I'm gonna try a new writing style. Now remember, these are simply my opinions :)
SPOILERS AHEAD!
John Dory:
Tumblr media
*Okay, so it is canon that Branch is 24 in the Trolls 3, which makes John Dory about 44.
*Nickname(s): JD, John
Fav color: Aquamarine and Green
Pronouns: He/Him (He supports, but is comfortable as himself)
He also gives me aromantic vibes, because like throughout the movie, he was really nonchalant when the romance bits came up, however subtle they are, he didn't give a damn lol.
JD is giving big Aries vibe with how confident he can be, pretty cheerful, and gets frustrated by tiny details, and unnecessary interruptions.
Tumblr media
Bruce:
Bruce is the second oldest at 40
BIG Scorpio vibes!! He's strong (Y'all, have y'all seen how easily he lifted Branch when they first met) and hella independent. He was the first to question John Dory before their show, he was even hesitant to leave Vaycay Island before he sang with his brothers.
Nickname(s): Brucie, I feel like Brandy calls him that to mess with him or when she wants something. His brothers' (mostly John Dory and Clay), call him that to make fun of him as well.
Fav Color: White
DO NOT TOUCH THIS MAN'S HAIR!!!!! He will sic his kids on you and show no mercy.
Pronouns: He/Him (He's a huge ally, but he's also proud of himself.)
He loves experimenting and competing in the kitchen with Brandi, forces his brothers to try their food, and chooses whose food is going on the specials board.
Tumblr media
Clay:
Clay is giving major middle-sibling vibes: at 35 years old.
Pronouns: He/They
Clay is non-binary and wears androgynous clothing but prefers their sweater romper and wristbands.
Nickname(s): Claybo (Viva calls him this to playfully annoy him), Clayton (Bruce and JD called him that as a kid, usually copying their mothers and grandma when they would scold him; but now call him that when he's overworked himself and they have to physically drag him to bed to rest.
Fav color: Green it was pretty obvious in the movie bc originally it was yellow when we first met him as a teen, but then we meet him later and it's green, and their whole outfit is green.
Def a Gemini! They're such a playful Troll, despite how serious he may act. But as he stated before, put some respect on his name bc they're a licensed CPA, fool!
Clay's favorite snack combo is:
Fries and a vanilla milkshake! He loves dipping the salty fries in the sweet vanilla.
They talk in their sleep, mostly about tax evasion and hot chocolate?
Hates doing their hair, Viva has to wait until he's sleeping for her to brush his tangles out.
Tumblr media
Floyd:
Floyd is the second youngest at 32
He's such a Pisces! He's so empathetic, compassionate, and oh, so sensitive.
Pronouns: He/Him
He and Clay definitely go all out for Pride (Bc Trolls are literally all spectrums of the rainbow! We learned that in Trolls 2! It'd be impossible NOT to have a big party for Pride), and drag their brothers and are literally so hype at the whole event and crashes MEGA hard the next morning and sleeps for a good 12 hours.
Floyd remained friends with Veneer because, c'mon they were vibing. He could see Veneer wanted someone to see him, so he convinced the Mount Rageous police to let the twins out for Pride.
Had a long talk with Velvet and helped her to see the error of her ways, and she began to be nicer to Veneer and listen to him.
Fav color is Black. He knows he slays the Rock Troll look.
I'm gonna settle this once and for all: Floyd is gay. The one earring in his right ear is a shout-out to his voice actor who is an openly gay singer.
Nickname(s): Flo (I feel like Branch couldn't pronounce Floyd's name yet when he was just learning to talk, so he called him Flo and it stuck.) Floydie (when his brothers tease him about his crush that he refuses to name.)
The hair in his face is like a comfort thing for him. He knows his hair is soft, and when he's bored, he plays with it, and twirls it around his fingers.
Floyd definitely has a collection of journals, from his songwriting to venting his feelings, and even (poorly drawn) doodles of his family.
Tumblr media
Branch:
He is the youngest at 24 as stated earlier.
Pronouns: He/Him
Fav color: Midnight blue like his hair
This dude is hella smart; like has a super high IQ, but is super chill about it.
He and Poppy are that meme: Tired X Energetic on a level 10!
Nickname: Branchifer (Poppy calls him that when she's calling him out on his attitude or when she's about to start teasing him.)
Def an Aquarius: highly intellectual, creative, and likes to join in on social interactions when it's on his time. Poppy learned the hard way why she shouldn't force him to join in.
Similar to Floyd, he was a bunch of notebooks filled with songs he'd written.
Branch is shy when it comes to family PDA, like if his brothers were to group hug him, or if they tried to mother him, and gets especially prickly when they baby-talk him in front of others.
This dude is the prince of sarcasm, clearly picking that trait up from all his brothers. Like bro, why are you so sarcastic?!
Is undeniably the most sarcastic of the brothers. (His nieces and nephews start to pick up on that, much to Bruce's horror. Brandi thinks it's hilarious.)
Doesn't really like kids, but absolutely adores his nephew Bruce Jr ( I mean he loves them all, but has a soft spot for that boy.) Bruce Jr is autistic and nonverbal and struggles to communicate. I believe he uses TSL (Troll Sign Language), and when Branch learns this, he starts signing fluently with his nephew, surprising everyone, especially Bruce Jr, because not many people can sign so fluently, but then Branch explains, that he learned when he was younger because you could go deaf at any moment and it's such a useful skill.
Bruce Jr shows Branch his blueprints that he's made and honestly, if they wanted to, they could take over the world.
That's all for now! Let me know what you guys think!
A big shout out to @vacayisland appreciate you! This one’s for you 🥰

Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4
Chapter 1 (5.6k) under the cut
"Rob! Robbie!" Steve yells as he walks into their two-bedroom apartment, kicking the door shut behind him. "Robin Juniper Buckley, where are you?"
He hears the telltale clatter of dishes and sure enough, he finds his roommate and best friend in their tiny kitchen washing the dishes. It's his turn to do them, but his schedule has been hell this week. He's been spending so much time at the firehouse cooking for a crew of five to twelve perpetually hungry firemen and women that the thought of cleaning up their kitchen at home has made him want to cry.
"I'm here doing the dishes, because if I didn't, we could have proven Darwin's theories right here in our kitchen." Despite the scolding words, she doesn't look particularly angry at him, and he figures he'll be forgiven in no time. She knows he's been working himself into the ground lately, pulling double shifts whenever his boss will let him. Living in Chicago is expensive enough, but Steve also has to think about Max's education. There's no way his little sister can't live up to her full potential just because their parents are assholes who stopped caring about their children the second they turned out not to be the perfect son and daughter Richard and Emily Harrington wanted them to be.
He walks up to her and hugs her sideways, resting his head on her shoulder for a moment as he mumbles, "'m sorry, Robs. I'll make it up to you."
She sighs, and he knows he's already forgiven. "I know you will. It's okay. Not like I forgot to do something once or twice."
He leans back to look at her for full effect, waggling his eyebrows. "Oh, like when you started dating Chrissy and were so busy having sex that you barely left your room or her apartment?"
Robin swats at him with the towel slung over her shoulder, but there's a smile on her face at the memory.
"Okay, now that we've established that you're jealous that I have an incredibly sexy and wonderful girlfriend," Robin says, ignoring his indignant Oi!, "do you want to tell me why you stormed in here yelling out my full name, which I've clearly forbidden you to use except in emergencies?"
Her question brings back the excitement that propelled him from the grocery store to her apartment in record time, and reminds him of the news he's been dying to share with her in person, rather than by phone or text message. He needs to see her reaction firsthand.
Taking hold of Robin's shoulders, he locks eyes with her azure gaze, unable to contain the grin that splits his face in two. "She’s gone!"
Robin blinks in confusion, prompting him to clarify. "Grandma Harrington, she's kicked the bucket, bit the dust, you name it."
A puzzled expression lingers on Robin's face momentarily before realization dawns. "No way! She... really?"
Unable to contain his excitement, Steve gives her a gentle shake. "Yes, really. Grandma Harrington finally called it quits."
They look at each other, their grins widening until they both look like madmen. Steve is aware that all of this is probably a highly inappropriate way to react to the death of a human being, but Eleanor Harrington had been the worst human being Steve or Robin had ever had the displeasure of meeting in their lives.
She had visited her son and daughter-in-law infrequently over the years, never giving them much warning when she was coming over and occupying one of their guest rooms for the unforeseeable future. More than once, Steve had come home to find her sitting at the kitchen table or on the sofa, staring at him with her judgmental gaze, disappointed in him before he even crossed the threshold. Any friend who had the misfortune to accompany him was ordered to sit with her and be interrogated, always found wanting as her grandson's companion. Everyone was beneath a Harrington, even Tommy, even though his father was a lawyer. ‘Too many freckles and that awful grin’ was one reason, ‘I don't like the way he looks at you, Steven, too greedy’ was another.
Robin, who had become a permanent fixture in Steve’s life after becoming his project partner in one of their shared classes his junior year, hadn’t fared any better. To this day, Steve has no idea how Grandma Harrington found out that Robin was queer, because at that point Robin hadn't even been out to her parents, only Steve. But when she did, she had spit at Robin. Steve had lost it then, too angry, too hurt to think rationally. He had thrown caution to the wind and come out to her, too, even though the thought of liking boys was still new to him, something he was still trying on to see how it would fit.
He doesn't even know what he expected to get out of it. Certainly not acceptance or even approval, no matter how much a part of him still craved that from his family. The only thing he got was her calling them both horrible names and saying such cruel things that Steve had to hold Robin and wipe away her tears afterwards.
That episode alone was reason enough for Steve to hate the old woman. Never mind that she had raised his father to be a bigoted, heartless man who had never learned what it meant to truly love anyone, not even his own son or daughter.
When their faces begin to ache from smiling, Robin shrugs casually, as though dismissing the significance of the moment. But Steve knows better. He knows the weight of hurt and resentment they both carry because of that woman.
"Rest in peace, I suppose," Robin remarks with an air of detachment, and Steve can only offer a noncommittal hum in response, realizing that any words he might speak would only add to the inappropriate nature of their conversation.
"Alright, so what does this mean for you, Steve?" Robin asks, curiosity gleaming in her eyes. "Is this going to change how you deal with your family?" She pauses briefly before adding, "And what about your inheritance?"
Steve offers a slight shrug, his expression turning pensive. "I'm not entirely sure yet, Robs," he begins, his tone serious despite the lingering excitement from their earlier celebration. "I mean, I guess it means I don't have to deal with her anymore, which is definitely a relief. But as for the rest of the family, I don't know. They've never been particularly warm or welcoming to me, you know that. I mean, you’ve been there when they wanted to send me to a psychiatrist to help me get over being queer. I doubt they've changed much since then."
Robin nods in understanding, recalling the numerous tales Steve had shared about his family's cold demeanor and their refusal to accept him for who he is. She reaches out, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze.
"I mean, you know she was loaded. So yeah, there is an inheritance, but -" Steve continues, his gaze distant as he contemplates the implications. "There's a condition in Grandma Harrington's will. I can only inherit if I marry someone.”
Robin's eyebrows shoot up in surprise. "Marry? Seriously? That seems archaic, unfair, and downright manipulative."
Steve lets out a wry chuckle. "Tell me about it. Grandma always did enjoy her control games. It's probably her way of trying to mold me into the perfect, straight grandson."
"You've got to be kidding me! Seriously? You... what, have to marry some woman so you can be the perfectly acceptable heterosexual son and grandson your family always wanted? Fuck off!" Despite the heavy topic, Steve can't help but smile at Robin's outrage on his behalf. He could always count on her. After all, she was there to pick up the pieces when his parents told him in no uncertain terms to either learn to be straight or leave.
He left and lived with the Buckleys until Robin graduated and they moved to Chicago together. It was the best decision he could have made, even if it still hurts some days.
For a moment, they both fall silent, each lost in their thoughts. Then Robin squeezes his hand again. "We'll figure it out, Steve. We always do. And hey, maybe this is the perfect opportunity to really stick it to them."
"What do you mean?"
A devilish grin spreads across Robin's face. "Tell me, does her will say that you have to marry someone, or that you have to marry a woman to get your inheritance?"
Oh.
Oh.
Steve looks at Robin, his eyes wide with sudden understanding. “You’re a genius, Buckley,” he says, grinning. “I think it’s time for us to pay my attorney a visit.”
Tumblr media
Turns out Robin is right. It seems that Grandma Harrington wrote her will at a time when gay marriage was still illegal in most states, and never thought to change it after the courts made it legal in Indiana and Illinois in 2014.
Steve's lawyer, who he honestly couldn't afford if it wasn't for the fact that she was an old family friend, agreed to help him pro bono just to give his bigoted parents the middle finger, as her sister was a lesbian. She said that the requirements of the will would be met if Steve married a woman as well as a man. As long as it was a legally recognized marriage, he would get close to half a million dollars. Enough to pay for Max's education, the rest of Robin's student loans, and maybe even a small house here in Chicago for him and Max once she was done with college and wanted to live with him until she was ready to be on her own.
The only problem was that Steve didn't have anyone to marry, woman or man.
His last serious relationship had been in high school, for crying out loud. Not for lack of trying. Steve loved love, but love apparently didn't love Steve back. Robin insists that's because he's sabotaging himself. She thinks deep down he's afraid of getting hurt again, so he only falls for people who a) he can't have or b) are a terrible match outside the bedroom.
She might have a point, he thinks in his more introspective moments. He has no shortage of options, and he always finds someone to hook up with, but he rarely makes it past the second date.
"Maybe you could hire someone?" Robin suggests, sipping her Dirty Shirley. After seeing John for some legal advice, they had gone straight to their favorite bar to hold a strategic summit over drinks.
So far, they have only made it to the drinking part.
Sighing deeply, Steve considers the idea for a second before shaking his head vehemently. "No way. I'm not paying some stranger to marry me. It's probably illegal anyway, and it sounds a lot like prostitution."
He knows it's the wrong thing to say when Robin raises an unimpressed eyebrow at him. "And what, Steven, is wrong with prostitution?"
"Nothing. Nothing’s wrong with it. A job like any other job,” he hastily assures her.
His answer seems to satisfy her and he knows she's right. It's just that sometimes the things he's been raised to believe, thanks to his extremely conservative parents, are hard to leave behind. They have a tendency to bubble back to the surface when he least expects it.
"That's what I thought. But I get it, it feels wrong to pay someone to marry you."
"Exactly. And I mean, it's about trust. Who guarantees that they won't double-cross me somehow and run off with all the money? I can't risk that."
He looks over at his best friend, his platonic soul mate, whom he trusts with his life and, more importantly, his little sister's life. Right now, he thinks, there’s only one person he could imagine being married to.
"How about we get married?"
He regrets it as soon as he asks.
Not because he thinks Robin wouldn’t do it, but because of the two of them, she is the one in a loving, stable relationship that could very well end in marriage one day. It's unfair of him to put her in a situation where she feels like she has to choose between Steve and Chrissy.
Worst of all, he knows she still wants to say yes to him. He can see it in the soft, sad way she looks at him. They both know they'll spend the rest of their lives together anyway. The simple truth of both their lives is that they would do anything for each other, walk through fire, face any horror the world could throw at them, just to see each other happy. And it's not like they couldn't get a divorce later, so Robin could still marry Chrissy, sure. But it would take something from her.
"Steve, I -"
"No, wait, don't answer that. It was a stupid idea, I shouldn't -"
"It's not stupid, it's just -"
As they talk over each other, their voices clash until they both instinctively reach over, silencing each other with a hand over their mouths at the same time. Their wide-eyed surprise quickly gives way to laughter as they realize the absurdity of the situation.
Steve is the first to recover from their fit of laughter, quickly sobering up to reassure Robin in a mild voice. "Seriously, Robs, I shouldn't have asked you to do this because it puts you in a shitty position. I know how much you love Chrissy and it wouldn't be fair to either of you. Especially when the two of you could finally get legally married. I don't want to take that away from you and make you agree to a fake heterosexual marriage like it was the 80's."
She looks at him with her big blue eyes, impossibly soft, and takes his hand in hers.
"Steve," she begins, her voice as gentle as her gaze, "thank you. For getting it, I mean. It wouldn't be all fake, though. I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. But you're right, I'm not in love with you and you're not in love with me. And we both deserve to marry someone we feel that way about. In a perfect world, we would. I mean, I don't even know if Chrissy would ever want to marry me, but," Robin stops here, her eyes widening in sudden realization. "Oh my God, Steve!" Robin cries out in excitement and wonder, her reaction clearly colored by the strong cocktails their favorite bar always provided, before her voice becomes softer again, but no less wondrous. "I really want to marry her. I want to marry Chrissy so badly, Steve, I can't believe I didn't know.”
"And I can't believe you're realizing this after I asked you to marry me. Way to keep a guy's ego in check," Steve jokes with a big grin on his face. It's less news to him than it is to Robin, to be honest. Ever since Robin stumbled into their apartment with a piece of paper in her hand with a number on it, gushing about the gorgeous woman she had just met at the bookstore where she works, Steve knew his best friend was completely smitten with Chrissy Cunningham. That was four years ago, and they are still going strong, obviously madly in love.
She throws her arms around him and says, "I'm sorry," not sounding sorry at all, still giddy with her newfound realization. "I'll make it up to you. I actually might have an idea how we can get you your inheritance and still stick it to Grandma Harrington."
"I sense a but."
"But I can't guarantee it'll work."
"And..."
"And you might not like it at first, but honestly, it's genius, you just have to trust me. And if it really doesn't work out, then we'll get married and you'll pay for my 'I'm-sorry-I-love-you-please-stay-with-me-even-though-I'm-fake-marrying-my-best-friend' vacation with Chrissy. And the divorce."
Maybe it's the three beers he's already had, or maybe it's the fact that Robin would actually marry him just to help him out that makes him agree. He's sure he'll regret it along the way, but maybe he should take a leap of faith. If it doesn't work out, then it doesn't. No way to find out but to try.
Drunk Steve is clearly an optimist.
"I feel like I'm going to regret this, but all right. What's your plan?"
Robin grins mischievously, her eyes gleaming with excitement as she leans back, holding Steve at arm's length.
"Steve Harrington, you won't regret this, I promise," she declares, her tone brimming with confidence.
Steve rolls his eyes good-naturedly, unable to suppress a chuckle at Robin's enthusiasm. "I'll hold you to that, Robin. But seriously, when do I get to know the master plan?"
Robin's grin widens, but then she sobers slightly, a hint of seriousness creeping into her expression. "I need to talk to Chrissy first. It's... complicated. But I'll tell you everything as soon as I can, I promise."
Steve nods, a mixture of curiosity and apprehension swirling inside him. "Okay, fine. Just... don't keep me waiting too long, okay? I've had enough surprises for one night."
Robin reaches out, squeezing his hand reassuringly. "I won't, Steve. Trust me, this is going to work out. You'll see."
Despite his lingering doubts, Steve can't help but be swayed by Robin's unwavering confidence. With a nod, he squeezes her hand back, a silent agreement passing between them. Whatever Robin's plan entails, he knows his best friend has his back. And maybe, hopefully, they'll come out on top after all.
Tumblr media
Drunk Steve should not be allowed to make any decisions, sober Steve decides.
Because he instantly regrets trusting Robin's secretive plan as soon as he steps into their apartment a week later, only to find not just Robin, but also her girlfriend Chrissy and Chrissy's best friend and roommate Eddie lounging in their living room.
All eyes turn towards him as he enters.
Robin's expression is the most transparent. Though the furrow between her brows is subtle, her lip-chewing and rhythmic tapping betray her worry, likely anticipating his reaction to whatever scheme they've concocted.
Chrissy, on the other hand, wears a radiant smile, her bubbly demeanor suggesting she's delighted about something. Yet, Steve can't shake the feeling that her enthusiasm might spell trouble. While he adores Chrissy and cherishes her friendship almost as much as he does Robin’s, he's well aware of her propensity for stirring up mischief.
Their shared history stretches back almost as far as hers and Robin's. It's a tradition for Robin and him to introduce their second dates to each other, one of their many platonic soulmate privileges. Steve often wonders if this practice inadvertently sabotages any chances of a third date, but he's unwilling to compromise on the importance of his friendship with Robin.
In any case, if someone can't accept his slightly unconventional bond with his best friend, they're probably not the right fit for him anyway.
Eddie's expression proves the most enigmatic. He appears utterly deer-in-the-headlights, his wide brown eyes resembling those of a startled doe. His usually pale complexion now seems even more ghostly. Steve notices how Eddie's fingers have been incessantly tousling his hair, rendering his dark curls resembling more of a chaotic bird's nest. Steve recognizes this as one of Eddie's nervous ticks, alongside fidgeting and rambling. His suspicions of Eddie's unease appear justified as Eddie avoids meeting Steve's gaze, opting instead to stare down at his hands, absently toying with his rings.
Something is going on and Steve has a sinking feeling that he won't like it.
"Um, hi?" He offers tentatively, his gaze flitting between Robin, Chrissy, and the nervously fidgeting Eddie. "Am I missing something here? Is this an early birthday surprise? Because if it is, I hate to break it to you, but my birthday's not for another nine months."
Before Robin can respond, Eddie interjects, his words tumbling out in a rush. "Hey, Steve! Yeah, it's been a while, hasn't it? Nah, no birthday party, man. We definitely know when your birthday is!"
"We do?" Chrissy chimes in with a playful grin, clearly jesting, as Steve knows she's the one who meticulously keeps track of important dates in their circle.
Eddie, caught off guard by Chrissy's banter, stumbles over his words. "Uh, yeah, of course! February 23rd. Remember that baseball-themed cake from last year? I almost dropped it on the icy ground!"
Steve remembers it too, mostly because he was so chuffed to learn that in order to save his cake, Eddie had taken the fall instead, choosing to land on his admittedly not very well padded backside so that the cake could live. He had been unable to sit properly at their little gathering all evening. Steve had felt sorry for him, but also fond in the face of Eddie's sacrifice for him.
"It's so good to see you, Steve. You look great today, that shirt really makes your eyes pop. Doesn't it, Eddie?" Chrissy gushes, nudging Eddie's side as he just stares at Steve in a way that makes Steve worry that he's about to go into cardiac arrest.
Eddie's mouth opens and closes like a fish. "Um..."
"Okay, what's going on, Robin?" Steve turns to the only person who doesn't act like she's on drugs or caught red-handed at a crime scene. Or both.
Robin, bless her soul, doesn't beat around the bush. "I told you I had a plan. This," and she points to Eddie of all people, "is my plan."
"That's Eddie," Steve states the obvious, but he feels he can't be blamed. Nothing makes sense, so he's glad for every single thing he knows. Then the rest of her statement sinks in.
Blinking at her, his eyes wide, he says the first thing that comes to mind. "You can't be serious!"
There's no way she's saying what he thinks she's saying. Because right now it looks like her plan to help him get his inheritance involves marrying Eddie. Which, no. No, no, no, no. Not Eddie. Maybe she means some other plan that Steve has forgotten. Like Eddie helping him with Dustin's birthday surprise, which sounded much more likely than -
"I told you he didn't want to marry me," Eddie's voice sounds loud in the stunned silence after Steve's reaction. "This was a stupid idea, I don't even know what I was thinking." Then, addressing Steve with his eyes somewhere to Steve's right, "Listen, man, I'm sorry. I totally get it, no hard feelings, okay? I wouldn't want to marry me either."
The wry chuckle doesn't sit well with Steve, nor does the way Eddie still refuses to meet his eyes, or the fact that he's started walking toward their front door. Before he can think about it, his hand wraps around Eddie's arm as he passes Steve on his way out.
"Eddie, wait." Eddie does, looking at Steve's hand wrapped around his forearm. Steve's grip isn't tight, so Eddie could easily break free, but he doesn't. He just looks, quietly waiting. Still not meeting Steve's eyes.
"I'm sorry, that came out wrong. I was just surprised, okay? A little warning would have been nice." The last part is mostly for Robin, who at least does look contrite at his words.
"It's fine, Steve, really. Don't worry about it. Now, if you'll excuse me. Places to be, things to do, see you when I see you, you know the drill."
Steve could let him go, maybe should let him go, because Eddie is obviously embarrassed and the whole situation has gone south anyway. But Eddie doesn't sound fine, and Steve feels terrible about his lack of a brain-to-mouth filter. Something that is usually Robin's specialty.
So instead of letting Eddie walk out of the apartment, Steve steps in front of him to block his way. "Eddie, please wait. I really didn't mean it the way you think I did, you have to believe me. You're a catch, okay? Anybody would be lucky to marry you."
And okay, wow, he didn't mean to say that, but it's the truth.
"You really mean that?" Eddie asks, pulling a strand of hair in front of his mouth. It looks incredibly cute and Steve wants to kill Robin for putting him in this position. She had said that he would not like her plan and that should have been reason enough for him to stop her. Because now he's between a rock and a hard place.
Either he lies and lets Eddie walk away thinking he's not good enough to be married, even if it is a scam to get his grandmother's inheritance. Or he tells the truth and risks getting his heart broken or their friendship ruined.
Because the thing is, Steve means every word. Steve has had a crush on Eddie for years. He's been able to keep those feelings in check because he and Eddie never spend time alone together. It's always group hangouts, or Eddie being there when he and Robin visit Chrissy, or Eddie joining them when they meet at their apartment. It also helps that Eddie keeps his distance from him. Sure, he's nice enough to Steve, but every time Steve tried to get close to the other man, his efforts were rebuked until he got the memo and stopped trying.
Before he can come to a decision, Robin steps in.
“I’m sorry we’re springing this on you, Steve. I could’ve prepared this a little bit better but Chrissy and I were so excited that we found the perfect solution, we couldn’t wait any longer.”
“And this is the perfect solution,” Chrissy jumps in, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Tell him Robin!”
Infected by Chrissy's enthusiasm, Robin’s voice carries an equally excited note. “You said it yourself, you’d need someone we can trust. And you trust Eddie, don’t you?”
Steve can feel Eddie’s eyes on him. “Of course I do.” He doesn’t miss the sharp intake of breath next to him at his decisive tone. Eddie’s a great guy, him rejecting Steve’s advances doesn’t change that.
Of course he trusts him because Eddie never gave him any reason not to.
But he remembers the stories Chrissy told them to explain why Eddie was a little wary of Steve. Apparently, Eddie didn't have it easy growing up. Chrissy wouldn't go into details because it's Eddie's story to tell, but she did mention that people used to treat Eddie like a criminal, a fuckup, trailer trash. Especially the jocks and rich kids at their high school, so since Steve was kind of both, Eddie had been wary of him.
So much so that Steve had overheard Eddie asking Chrissy once, early in her relationship with Robin, why Robin kept bringing that rich asshole jock over all the time. The words had hurt, but Chrissy's explanation had softened the blow. Still, he'd stopped trying to flirt with Eddie after that because he'd figured that even if Eddie came to accept him, he'd never be interested in going out with someone who reminded him so much of all the bullies in high school who had made his life a living hell.
All of which makes it easy to see how Steve's implicit trust could come as such a surprise to him. Which still kind of stings, because Steve had hoped that the last four years had shown Eddie that Steve was not what Eddie expected him to be just because he grew up rich and popular and into sports.
Before he can get lost in his thoughts about Eddie and what he has to do to earn Eddie's trust the way Eddie has his, Chrissy chimes in again, raising a finger. "So you trust Eddie. That's like the most important thing. Second," she raises another finger, making a playful peace sign in their direction, "Eddie's single. Not like Robin."
Ah, okay, Steve can see why Chrissy is so excited about her and Robin's 'plan'.
"'m sorry, Chrissy, for proposing to your girlfriend," Steve sheepishly apologizes, giving her a crooked smile, which she returns with a sunny one of her own.
"No hard feelings. I get it, believe me. Being with Robin means being stuck with you. Just like Robin is stuck with Eddie. Which is the third reason why this is a great idea," she adds, raising another finger. "We all spend a lot of time together already. Nothing really needs to change."
Aside from the fact that Steve secretly wishes things could change between him and Eddie, he's not so sure that's true. But to argue her point would mean revealing more about his feelings than he's comfortable with, so he lets it slide for now.
Objectively, Steve knows they're right. If he didn't still feel... something for Eddie, he probably wouldn't even hesitate. Because yes, he trusts Eddie not to screw him over, and he's also a close acquaintance who's been teetering on the edge of being a real friend for years. But he's also the reason Steve had to leave last year's Friendsgiving party early because Eddie showed up with some guy who couldn't keep his sleazy hands off of him. It drove Steve crazy to see someone else have what he wanted so badly.
In the end, it is the thought of being able to give Max all the chances she deserves that finally makes him look back at Eddie.
"And you're sure you want to do this? Fake marry me, I mean. Because, Eddie... I can't tell you how much I appreciate you being willing to do this to help me out, but... you don't have to do this, okay? It's not your mess or your fucked up family, it's mine."
Finally, Eddie is looking back at him, meeting his eyes.
"I do. Wanna do this, I mean. I know I don't have to, but -" Here Eddie pauses, apparently searching for the right words. After a few seconds he breathes a sigh and continues. "Look, for once, I love the idea of sticking it to an old homophobic hag, so that's a big incentive. Also, I was actually hoping you could help me out as well. Because there's this amazing record store that's for sale, but the bank refuses to give me a loan unless I have some kind of collateral. So I'm kind of hoping that being married will sway them."
At Steve's surprised look, Eddie hastens to add, "I don't want your money! That's for you and Max. Just the fact that I'm married to someone with money will probably be enough. And we can totally do a prenup or something like that."
Eddie sounds anxious, like he's afraid he's said something wrong, when in fact he's doing Steve a huge favor and asking for something incredibly small in return. Steve thinks he can't be blamed at this point, he just has to touch Eddie. So he does, pulling him into a tight hug.
"Thank you, Eddie. Really. Of course we can go to your bank and convince them to give you the loan. It's the least I can do to thank you."
It feels good to be holding Eddie like this, even more so when, after a moment's hesitation, Eddie hugs him back. Even though they've known each other for years, Steve can count the times they've done this on one hand. It's never lasted this long either, and Steve can't suppress his disappointment when Robin interrupts the quiet moment by clapping her hands excitedly, causing Eddie to pull away.
"Oh, I'm so glad we worked it out. Go us!"
Chrissy, just as excited, jumps up and down next to Robin. "I'm so happy for you guys! We can totally help you plan the wedding. It's going to be great, I know it."
Steve and Eddie look at each other in growing confusion.
"Chris," Eddie begins, his voice careful. He's clearly more experienced in dealing with an overly excited Chrissy, so Steve lets him take the lead. "You do realize that Steve and I are only getting married on paper, right? I don't think -"
"You can still have a wedding!" Chrissy interrupts, clearly not deterred by anything silly like pragmatism or logic. "It's still a special day, and you deserve to celebrate it with your friends and family."
Before Steve can say anything - what, he has no idea - Robin jumps in on the ‘you should have a real wedding’ party.
"Besides, it has to look real, right? Why wouldn't you have a real wedding if you were getting married? Everyone would wonder. It's just easier to pull out all the stops and make it look as real as possible so no one will question it."
And that... actually made a lot of sense. Goddammit.
Looking at Eddie with an apologetic look on his face, Steve says, "I guess she's right," and shrugs his shoulders in a ‘I wish she wasn't, but what can you do’ kind of way. Eddie, to his credit, just sighs and nods, accepting his fate with as much grace as he can. He glances at Chrissy, who is almost vibrating.
"Fine. Chris, do you want to help us plan a wedding?"
She actually squeals. "Yes, yes, yes!" Then she rushes over and pulls them into a group hug.
Steve, looking over Chrissy's head at Robin, opens his arm. "Come here, Buckley." It's all the invitation Robin needs to join their celebratory hug.
For just this moment, Steve allows himself to feel as if this is all real, him and Eddie announcing their wedding and their two best friends in the whole world sharing in their happiness. It's a nice feeling, and when he leans his head on Robin's shoulder and looks at Eddie, he finds him looking back with the same soft smile on his face as the one Steve thinks must be on his own.

summary: in this chapter, the bond between mara and you, as her mother, deepens as you navigate life after logan. with wade as a vital support, you enjoy a day at the park, where mara’s innocent questions about her father lead to heartfelt discussions on love and family. your emotional journey toward accepting love reemerges through your growing feelings for wade, highlighting themes of healing, family connection, and the complexities of moving on.
- - - - - - -
It had been a couple of years since your beloved daughter, Mara Howlett, was born. She showed her intelligence by imitating her first words, which weren't "mama" but "Uncle Wade." It was a heartwarming moment. Mara and Wade were already playing together and running around the house, engaging in games of hide-and-seek. Every morning, they cooked breakfast together and brought it to you in bed.
Uncle Wade had always been there for support, and even Grandma Althea, who was blind, pitched in financially as much as she could. To help with expenses and ensure that your little one had everything she needed, you took on a job at the nearby grocery store. As you worked long hours stocking shelves and checking out customers, your mind was always consumed with thoughts of your precious daughter and how grateful you were to have her in your life.
She was your light, your reason for pushing through the exhaustion and tedium. Every time you felt your eyelids growing heavy or your feet aching from hours of standing, you pictured her smile, her tiny hand in yours. You imagined the moment you'd walk through the door and she'd come running, arms outstretched, shouting "Mommy!" with unbridled joy.
During your short breaks, you'd sneak a peek at the photos on your phone - her first steps and the two of you with Wade at the beach last weekend. They never failed to bring a smile to your face, even on the toughest days.
As you restocked cans of soup and boxes of cereal, you made mental notes of items she might like for her lunchbox. When ringing up customers, you'd spot a toy or book she'd love, setting aside a mental reminder to pick it up later. Every decision, every action, seemed to revolve around her now.
The store's bell chimed, and you glanced up to see Mrs. Henderson shuffling in, her weathered hands gripping her walker. You smiled, already reaching for her usual items before she made it to the counter.
"How's that daughter of yours?" she asked, her eyes twinkling behind thick glasses.
"Growing like a weed," you replied, your chest swelling with pride. "She starts kindergarten week."
Mrs. Henderson clucked her tongue. "My, how time flies. Seems like just yesterday you were telling me she'd been born."
As you bagged her groceries, your mind wandered to the little girl waiting for you at home. You imagined her curled up on the couch, engrossed in her favorite cartoon, and holding her favorite stuffed unicorn.
It was moments like these that made life feel simple and complete again. But then those thoughts would be interrupted by memories of Logan, the father of your child. Mara's blue eyes and black hair were a constant reminder of him, even though he wasn't there with you.
Some nights, the pain would become too much and you would wake up crying, only to have Wade embrace you until you fell back asleep. He had been so supportive and present lately...but did that mean you were falling for him? Could you actually love someone else after everything Logan put you through? It didn't seem fair to Wade, but then again, he wouldn't hurt you. Maybe you can talk to him about it when you get home.
"All done, Mrs. Henderson," you say, handing her the bags. "Have a great day."
As she shuffles out, you glance at the clock. Your shift is almost over. Just a few more customers and you can head home to Mara, Wade, and Althea.
The next person in line steps forward, and you force a smile. But your mind is elsewhere, grappling with the swirl of emotions that have become your constant companions.
Later, as you drive home, you rehearse what you might say to Wade. The words tumble around in your head, never quite falling into place. How do you explain the tangle of grief, gratitude, and budding affection?
- - - - - - -
As you drive into the parking structure of your apartment complex, you park and make your way up the stairs to your shared apartment. The sound of laughter greets you as you approach the door. You smile, feeling a sense of warmth and comfort. You quickly grab your keys and unlock the door.
You enter the room and witness him playing with Mara. Her laughter echoes throughout the space as she rides on his back, her hair flowing behind her. Your heart feels full as you watch them, overwhelmed with love.
"Mommy!" Mara squeals, spotting you in the doorway. She scrambles off Wade's back and runs toward you, her little arms outstretched. You scoop her up, breathing in the scent of her hair, feeling the softness of her cheek against yours.
"Hey, sweetheart," you murmur, holding her close. "Did you have a good day with Uncle Wade?"
She nods enthusiastically. "We made a fort and had a tea party with Mr. Unicorn!"
Wade stands up, brushing off his knees. His smile is warm, but there's a flicker of something else in his eyes. Concern? Uncertainty?
“Hey there, welcome home!” he says, sauntering over with the enthusiasm of a kid who’s just seen their favorite movie. “How was the grind today? Did you dodge any major disasters, or was it more of a ‘stuck in traffic’ kind of day? Either way, I’m here to make it all better—snacks and terrible jokes included.”
You set Mara down, and she immediately tugs on your hand. "Mommy, come see our fort!"
You follow Mara to the living room, where an impressive structure of blankets and pillows dominates the space. "Wow, sweetie, this is amazing!" you exclaim, crouching down to peek inside.
"Uncle Wade helped me build it," Mara says proudly. "We even have a secret password to get in!"
As you admire the fort, you feel Wade's presence behind you. His hand briefly touches your shoulder, a gesture of support that sends a small shiver through you.
He gently comments, “You look like you’ve been wrestling with a bear and lost. How about you kick back and let me whip up some dinner? I promise not to set the kitchen on fire this time.”
You turn to face him, your initial reaction is to chuckle but then you feel a pull on your heartstrings. You are taken aback by the sincerity in his eyes. These moments leave you feeling torn and wistful. "Thank you, Wade. That would be wonderful."
- - - - - - -
As Wade heads to the kitchen, you settle into the fort with Mara, listening intently as she recounts her day's adventures. The soft glow of fairy lights strung inside the blanket structure casts a warm, comforting light on her animated face. You can't help but marvel at her boundless energy and imagination.
"And then, Mommy, Uncle Wade pretended to be a dragon, and I had to save Mr. Unicorn from his evil clutches!" Mara giggles, hugging her stuffed unicorn tightly.
You smile, running your fingers through her silky black hair. "That sounds like quite the adventure, sweetheart. Was Uncle Wade a scary dragon?"
Mara shakes her head emphatically. "No, he was a silly dragon. He kept making funny faces and tripping over his own tail!"
The sound of pots clanging in the kitchen momentarily distracts you both. Mara's eyes widen with excitement.
"Ooh, I think Uncle Wade is making his special pancakes!" she exclaims, bouncing on her knees.
A chuckle escapes your lips, as you recall Wade's infamous "special pancakes" that are always loaded with an excessive amount of chocolate chips and whipped cream. "Maybe you're onto something. But at this time of night? I suppose... we should lend him a hand?"
Mara shakes her head vigorously, her pigtails swinging. "No, no! We have to stay here and protect the fort from the tickle monster!"
"The tickle monster?" you ask, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes!" Mara nods seriously. "Uncle Wade said the tickle monster comes out when little girls don't eat all their vegetables. But I ate all my broccoli at lunch, so I'll protect you from the tickle monster!"
You can't help but laugh at her earnest declaration. "Well, I'm glad I have such a brave protector. But maybe we should check on Uncle Wade, just to make sure he's not burning down the kitchen?"
Mara considers this for a moment, then nods. "Okay, but we have to be really quiet so the tickle monster doesn't hear us!"
Hand in hand, you and Mara tiptoe out of the fort and towards the kitchen. The smell of butter and vanilla wafts through the air, confirming your suspicions about the pancakes.
As you round the corner, you see Wade at the stove, his back to you. He's wearing an apron that says "I’m Not Actually a Cook, I Just Play One in the Kitchen" and humming off-key to himself as he flips a pancake with impressive flair.
Mara giggles, alerting Wade to your presence. He spins around, spatula in hand, a comically exaggerated look of surprise on his face.
"Well, well, well! What do we have here? A couple of fort-dwellers venturing out into the wild?" he says, grinning. "I hope you're ready for the breakfast-for-dinner showdown of the century! Spoiler alert: it’s going to be epic."
Mara runs up to him, bouncing on her toes. "Are you making your special pancakes, Uncle Wade?"
"You bet I am, munchkin!" Wade ruffles her hair. "And I've got a super secret ingredient this time. Want to know what it is?"
Mara nods eagerly, and Wade leans down to whisper dramatically in her ear. Her eyes widen, and she lets out a delighted gasp.
Rainbow sprinkles!" Mara exclaims, clapping her hands with glee. "Can I help put them on, Uncle Wade? Please?"
Wade pretends to consider it, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Well, I don't know. Sprinkling rainbows is a very important job. Do you think you're up for the challenge?"
"Yes, yes!" Mara bounces on her toes, her eyes shining with excitement.
"Alright then, my little sous chef," Wade says, lifting her up to sit on the counter. "But remember, with great power comes great responsibility. And also a lot of colorful mess."
- - - - - - -
You lean against the wall, watching as Wade guides Mara's hand, showing her how to sprinkle just the right amount of rainbow bits onto each pancake. The sight of them together, laughing and working in tandem, makes your heart swell with a mix of emotions you can't quite name.
"Hey, don't just stand there looking pretty," Wade calls out to you, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Come join the pancake party!”
You push off from the wall, shaking your head with a smile. "Someone's got to be the responsible adult here," you tease, but you move closer anyway.
"Responsible? In this kitchen? I don't think so," Wade quips, flipping another pancake with unnecessary flair. "We left responsible at the door, along with our dignity and our fear of sugar crashes."
As you approach the stove, the warmth from the griddle and the sweet aroma of pancakes envelop you. Wade hands you a spatula with a flourish.
"Your turn, chef," he says with a wink. "Show us how it's done."
You take the spatula, your fingers brushing against his for a moment. The touch sends a small jolt through you, and you quickly focus on the task at hand.
"Alright, let's see if I remember how to do this," you say, positioning yourself in front of the stove.
As you pour the batter onto the hot surface, Mara cheers from her perch on the counter. "Go, Mommy! Make it a unicorn shape!"
You laugh, attempting to form the batter into something vaguely unicorn-like. "I'm not sure if this is a unicorn or a blob with a horn, but we'll call it artistic license," you say, chuckling as you watch the misshapen pancake sizzle.
Wade leans in, his shoulder brushing against yours as he inspects your creation. "I'd say it's more of an abstract expressionist unicorn. Very avant-garde."
His closeness makes your heart skip a beat, and you fumble slightly with the spatula. Wade's hand quickly covers yours, steadying your grip.
"Careful there," he says softly, his breath warm against your ear. "We don't want any pancake casualties."
You turn your head slightly, suddenly aware of how close his face is to yours. For a moment, time seems to stand still, the kitchen fading away except for his eyes, warm and full of an emotion you're afraid to name.
"Mommy, it's bubbling!" Mara's excited voice breaks the moment. You blink, coming back to reality, and quickly flip the pancake.
"Nice save," Wade says, stepping back with a small smile. "I think you've got the hang of it now."
You nod, unable to find your voice for a moment. The pancake sizzles on the griddle, filling the silence.
"Can I put sprinkles on this one too, Uncle Wade?" Mara asks, oblivious to the tension in the air.
"Of course, kiddo," Wade replies, his voice cheerful as he hands her the sprinkle shaker. "Just remember, a little goes a long way."
As Mara carefully sprinkles the rainbow bits onto the cooking pancake, you steal a glance at Wade. He's watching Mara with a soft expression, his eyes crinkled at the corners with genuine affection. The sight makes your heart ache in a way you can't quite define.
As the evening progresses, the kitchen fills with laughter and the sweet aroma of pancakes. Mara's excitement is contagious, and soon you find yourself relaxing, the stress of the workday melting away. Wade keeps the mood light with his jokes and silly antics, but you catch him watching you with a soft, thoughtful expression when he thinks you're not looking.
- - - - - - -
After dinner, as you're helping Mara get ready for bed, she asks, "Mommy, can Uncle Wade read me a bedtime story tonight?"
You hesitate for a moment, feeling a mix of emotions. "Sure, sweetie," you finally say. "If Uncle Wade doesn't mind."
Wade, who's been cleaning up in the kitchen, pops his head into the room. "Did someone say bedtime story? I thought I heard my cue. What'll it be tonight, munchkin? 'The Princess and the Pea' or 'Wade's Totally Awesome and Definitely True Adventures'?"
Mara giggles, snuggling deeper into her blankets. "The Wade story! Please, please!"
You can't help but smile as Wade dramatically clears his throat and settles into the chair beside Mara's bed. "Alright, gather 'round, young padawan. Let me tell you about the time I saved the entire world from an invasion of sentient, evil broccoli..."
As Wade launches into his fantastical tale, complete with silly voices and exaggerated gestures, you lean against the doorframe, watching. The sight of them together fills you with a bittersweet warmth. Mara's eyes are wide with wonder, hanging on Wade's every word, and Wade is fully immersed in his storytelling, his face animated and full of joy.
You can't help but think of Logan, wondering if he would have been this way with Mara. The thought sends a familiar pang through your chest, but it's dulled now, softened by the scene before you.
As Wade's story reaches its climax, with him dramatically reenacting a showdown between himself and the Broccoli King, Mara's giggles turn into yawns. Her eyelids start to droop, even as she fights to stay awake.
"And so," Wade says, his voice softening as he notices Mara's drooping eyelids, "the day was saved, the evil broccoli was turned into a delicious soup, and everyone lived happily ever after. The end."
Mara yawns widely, snuggling deeper into her blankets. "That was a good story, Uncle Wade," she murmurs sleepily.
Wade leans down and plants a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Sweet dreams, munchkin. Don't let the bed bugs bite - or the sentient broccoli."
As Wade stands up, you move to Mara's bedside, tucking her in and giving her a goodnight kiss. "I love you, sweetheart," you whisper.
"Love you too, Mommy," Mara replies, her eyes already closed.
- - - - - - -
You and Wade quietly exit the room, gently closing the door behind you. The sudden silence in the hallway feels heavy with unspoken words. You both linger for a moment, unsure of what to say or do next.
Wade breaks the silence first, his voice uncharacteristically soft. "She's really something special, isn't she?"
You nod, a small smile playing on your lips. "She is. I don't know what I'd do without her."
There's a pause, and then Wade says, "Or without you. You're an amazing mom, you know that?"
His words catch you off guard, and you look up at him. In the dim light of the hallway, his eyes are warm and sincere. You feel a flutter in your chest, a mixture of gratitude and something else you're not quite ready to name.
"I couldn't do it without your help," you admit, your voice soft. "You've been... incredible, Wade. With Mara, with everything."
Wade's expression softens, a hint of vulnerability showing through his usual jovial demeanor. "Hey, that's what family's for, right?" he says, gently nudging your shoulder with his. "Even if we're a bit of an unconventional one."
You both chuckle quietly, mindful of Mara sleeping nearby. As the laughter fades, a comfortable silence settles between you. You find yourself studying Wade's face, noticing the tiny laugh lines around his eyes, the way his lips curl up slightly even when he's not smiling.
"Listen," Wade begins, his tone more serious than usual. "I know things haven't been easy for you, with Logan and everything. And I don't want to complicate things or make you feel pressured in any way. But I just want you to know that I'm here. For you, for Mara, for whatever you need."
His words hang in the air between you, heavy with implication. Your heart races as you process what he's saying - and what he's not saying.
"Wade, I..." you start, but the words catch in your throat. How do you express the tangle of emotions you're feeling? The gratitude, the affection, the fear of letting someone in again.
Wade takes a step closer, his hand reaching out to gently touch your arm. "You don't have to say anything," he says softly. "I just wanted you to know. Whatever happens, whatever you decide, I'm not going anywhere."
As you look up into Wade's eyes, you can see the sincerity and the hunger there. Without thinking, you lean forward, and your lips meet his for the first time. They're soft, warm, and inviting. A spark ignites between you, unfamiliar but thrilling. Wade's hand moves to cup your cheek, his thumb stroking your jawline gently.
"Well, hello there, beautiful," he whispers, his voice low and husky. His breath tickles your lips, sending shivers down your spine.
- - - - - - -
Without breaking the kiss, you both make your way towards the living room couch, your lips locked in a heated kiss. The soft fabric of the couch cushions your bodies as you collapse onto it, your hands roaming over each other's bodies with increasing urgency.
Wade's hand travels up your shirt, his fingers lightly tracing the curve of your waist. He groans as he feels the smoothness of your skin, whispers hotly in your ear, "Fuck, you're so soft... Logan doesn't know what he's missing out on."
You smile against his lips, feeling a thrill at the mention of Logan's name. Wade's rough hands feel even better against your skin now, as if you're sharing a deliciously dirty secret. You tug at the hem of his shirt, lifting it over his head to reveal his muscular chest. The sight of his defined abs and pecs makes you feel weak in the knees.
He leans in, pressing a kiss to your neck, and you feel a jolt of pleasure shoot through you. "You taste so fucking good," he growls, his teeth grazing your skin.
You moan softly, tilting your head back to give him better access. Your hands explore his chest, feeling the hard muscles beneath your fingertips. You can feel his heart pounding against your palm.
Wade's hand travels up your thigh, his fingers teasing the edge of your panties. You can feel the wetness pooling between your legs, and you squirm beneath his touch.
He groans as he feels how wet you are. "Fuck, you're so ready for me," he murmurs, his voice thick with need.
You nod, biting your lower lip. "I need you, Wade," you whisper, your voice shaky with desire.
He doesn't need any further encouragement. He tugs at the hem of your panties, sliding them down your thighs to reveal your wet and swollen folds. He takes a moment to admire the sight before lowering his head to lavish attention on your clit.
You cry out as his warm tongue circles your clit, sending waves of pleasure coursing through your body. He groans as he tastes your sweetness, his tongue darting in and out of your folds.
Meanwhile, your hand travels down his body, finding the hard length of his cock straining against his boxers. You stroke him gently, feeling him throb beneath your touch.
Wade groans as you touch him, his hips bucking involuntarily. You can feel him growing even harder in your hand.
He slides his boxers down his hips, revealing his thick and throbbing cock. You can't help but stare at it, mesmerized by its size and power.
Wade smirks as he sees the look of desire in your eyes. "Like what you see?" he asks, his voice teasing.
You nod, biting your lower lip. "It's so big," you whisper, your voice full of awe.
Wade chuckles, leaning in to press a kiss to your lips. "And it's all yours," he murmurs.
He positions himself at your entrance, teasing you with the tip of his cock. You moan as you feel it slide against your wet folds.
"Please, Wade," you beg, your voice needy and desperate.
He doesn't make you wait any longer. He slowly slides inside you, filling you up completely. You gasp at the sensation of being stretched and filled, your walls clenching around him.
Wade groans as he feels your tightness, his hips bucking involuntarily. He starts to move, thrusting into you with long, slow strokes.
You moan as the pleasure builds, your nails digging into his back. Wade leans in, capturing your lips in a passionate kiss as he moves inside you.
He reaches down, his fingers finding your clit. He rubs it gently, sending sparks of pleasure shooting through your body.
"Come for me, baby," he whispers, his voice hoarse with desire.
You do as he says, your orgasm crashing over you like a wave. Your body shakes and trembles as you cry out quietly, your nails digging deeper into his back.
Wade soon follows, pulling out quickly as his orgasm shudders through him. He came onto your stomach.
You lay there for a moment, catching your breath. He leans in, pressing a soft kiss to your lips. "That was amazing," he whispers, his voice filled with wonder.
You nod, smiling up at him. "Yeah, it was," you agree.
As the evening light fades, you and Wade reluctantly rise from the plush couch, but let's be real—who can resist that level of comfort? You both find yourselves sinking back into those soft cushions like two marshmallows in hot chocolate. Wade grabs the throw blanket that’s been carelessly flung over the armrest like it was a battle flag and drapes it over you, creating a cozy fortress of solitude as you snuggle in.
- - - - - - -
The following morning, you wake up abruptly as a soft tickle dances across your nose. The bright light shining down on you reveals Mara's adorable face, radiating sunshine and mischief. You can't help but smile back at her. With delicate fingers, she nudges Wade's hand, which is resting comfortably on your hip, startling him awake with wide eyes. "Thor! I thought we were battling frost giants!" he exclaims before realizing the situation. You roll your eyes and laugh.
Your bodies are feeling the effects of last night's activities - as if you just survived a zombie apocalypse, but in a much more enjoyable way. Just then, Mara interrupts your thoughts with an insistent voice, "Hungry, mommy!" She toddles over, clutching onto Mr. Unicorn for dear life, her wild hair tousled in the cutest way possible. She's like a miniature whirlwind of adorableness.
You stretch out your limbs like a cat, each muscle protesting slightly before swinging your legs over the side of the couch.
"Alright, sweetie, let's get some breakfast," you say, scooping Mara up into your arms. She giggles as you plant a kiss on her cheek.
Wade sits up, running a hand through his messy hair. "I vote for pancakes. Again. Is it possible to overdose on pancakes? Asking for a friend."
You laugh, shaking your head. "I think we've had enough pancakes for a while. How about some eggs and toast?"
"Eggs!" Mara cheers, bouncing in your arms. "Can I help crack them?"
"Sure thing, munchkin," Wade says, standing up and stretching. "Just try not to recreate the Great Egg Disaster of last Tuesday, okay?"
As you head to the kitchen, Mara chattering excitedly about her plans to become a world-famous egg cracker, you can't help but steal glances at Wade. He catches your eye and gives you a warm smile that makes your heart flutter. There's an unspoken understanding between you now, a shift in your relationship that both excites and terrifies you.
- - - - - - -
In the kitchen, you set Mara on a stool at the counter while Wade retrieves the eggs from the fridge. As you gather the other ingredients, you feel Wade's hand brush against your lower back as he passes behind you. The touch, though brief, sends a shiver through you.
"Alright, Chef Mara," Wade announces, setting a bowl in front of her. "Show us your egg-cracking skills!"
Mara's face scrunches up in concentration as she carefully taps an egg against the side of the bowl. To everyone's surprise, she manages to crack it perfectly, the yolk sliding into the bowl without a single shell.
"I did it!" Mara exclaims, her face lighting up with pride.
"Way to go, kiddo!" Wade cheers, giving her a high five. "You're a natural!"
You can't help but beam at your daughter's accomplishment. "That was perfect, sweetie," you say, leaning down to kiss the top of her head.
As you whisk the eggs, Wade starts on the toast, humming a tune under his breath. The domesticity of the moment strikes you - the three of you working together to make breakfast, moving around each other with easy familiarity. It feels right in a way you hadn't expected.
"So, what's on the agenda for today?" Wade asks, popping bread into the toaster.
"Well, I have the day off," you reply, pouring the whisked eggs into a heated pan. "I was thinking...we could take Mara to the park. She's been begging to try out the new playground equipment they installed last week."
"Yay, park!" Mara cheers, clapping her hands excitedly.
Wade grins, his eyes lighting up. "Sounds like a plan. I'll pack us a picnic lunch. Maybe we can finally teach Mara the art of proper frisbee throwing without accidentally beaning any unsuspecting joggers this time."
You chuckle, remembering the last park incident. "Let's hope so. Mrs. Johnson from apartment 3B still gives me the stink eye in the elevator."
As you finish cooking the eggs, Wade assists by spreading butter on the toast and helping Mara set the table. Suddenly, Grandma Al emerges from her bedroom with her white cane in hand. "Did someone think of making breakfast for me as well?" The four of you settle down at the table and engage in lively conversation while enjoying your meal and sipping on coffee (or, in Mara's case, apple juice)
As you watch Wade help Mara wipe egg from her chin, you feel a surge of affection. This man, who had started as just a friend, had become so much more - to both you and Mara. The realization both thrills and terrifies you.
- - - - - - -
After breakfast, you help Mara get dressed for the park while Wade packs the picnic lunch. As you brush Mara's hair, she looks up at you with her big blue eyes - Logan's eyes - and asks, "Mommy, are we going to live with Uncle Wade and Grandma Al forever?"
The question catches you off guard, and you pause, the brush hovering mid-stroke. "Well, sweetie," you begin, choosing your words carefully, "Since it is their home, it depends. But for now, yes, we're staying here. Do you like living with Uncle Wade and Grandma Al?"
Mara nods enthusiastically. "I love it! Uncle Wade is so funny, and Grandma Al tells the best stories. But..." she hesitates, her little brow furrowing.
"But what, sweetie?" you prompt gently, resuming brushing her hair.
"But sometimes I wonder about my daddy," Mara says quietly. "The other kids at daycare talk about their daddies. Where's mine?"
Your heart clenches at her words. You've been dreading this conversation, knowing it would come eventually but hoping you'd have more time to prepare.
"Your daddy..." you begin, trying to keep your voice steady. "Your daddy had to go away for a while. But he loves you very much, even though he can't be here with us right now."
Mara looks up at you, her eyes wide and questioning. "Will he ever come back?"
You take a deep breath, fighting back the tears that threaten to spill. "I don't know, sweetie. Sometimes... sometimes daddies can't come back, even if they want to. But you know what? You have so many people who love you. You have me, and Uncle Wade, and Grandma Al. We're your family, and we'll always be here for you."
Mara nods slowly, seeming to process this information. "Okay," she says finally. "But can we still talk about him sometimes? I want to know what he was like."
You smile softly, running your fingers through her hair. "Of course we can, sweetie. Anytime you want to know about your daddy, you smile softly, running your fingers through her hair. "Of course we can, sweetie. Anytime you want to know about your daddy, you just ask me, okay?"
Mara nods, seeming satisfied for now. "Okay, Mommy. Can we go to the park now?"
You smile softly, running your fingers through her hair. "Of course we can, sweetie. Anytime you want to know about your daddy, you just ask me, okay?"
Mara nods, seeming satisfied for now. "Okay, Mommy. Can we go to the park now?"
"Sure thing," you say, relief washing over you that the conversation has ended for now. "Let's go see if Uncle Wade is ready with that picnic basket."
As you and Mara emerge from the bedroom, you find Wade in the living room, struggling to close an overstuffed picnic basket. He looks up as you enter, a sheepish grin on his face.
"I may have gone a little overboard," he admits, finally managing to snap the basket shut. "But hey, you never know when we might be ambushed by a family of hungry bears, right?"
With a chuckle, you help Wade with the picnic basket, while Mara runs off to fetch her favorite frisbee. As you all leave the house, the sun is shining brightly, and there's a sense of anticipation in the air. The laughter and chatter on the way to the park is a welcome distraction from your earlier conversation.
Arriving at the park, you release Mara's hand and she dashes towards the playground, her laughter echoing in the air. Wade follows her, a playful grin on his face. You and Althea find a nice spot under a tree, laying out the picnic blanket and opening the overflowing basket. The sun is high in the sky, casting a warm glow on everything around you.
The park was alive with activity, and Mara couldn't contain her excitement as she ran from one attraction to the next. Wade was the perfect uncle, chasing after her and making sure she had the time of her life. Althea, on the other hand, was content feeding the ducks with leftover toast from breakfast. As you watch them, a warm feeling spreads through your chest.
- - - - - - -
As the day turns into evening, the exhaustion starts to catch up with everyone. Wade scoops up Mara onto his shoulders, her face lighting up as she takes another lick of her melting ice cream cone. Althea holds onto your arm as you all make your way back to the apartment.
The cool breeze brushes against your skin, providing a welcome refreshment. The sun slowly sinks in the sky as you make your way inside. You guide Althea to her room for some much-needed rest while Mara eagerly anticipates her nightly bath and bedtime routine. With everyone settled for the night, it's just you and Wade in the bathroom.
As the steam fills the room, Wade's fingers trace along the curves of your body, leaving a trail of warmth behind them. He backs you up against the sink counter, and you can feel his hard cock pressing into your hip. His mouth crashes into yours, and your tongues dance in a desperate, passionate kiss. You moan into his mouth as his fingers trail up your thigh, teasing the edge of your panties.
Wade's hands slide up your body, gripping your hips as he drops to his knees. His breath hot on your skin as he hooks his fingers into your panties, tugging them down. He takes a moment to admire your wet, swollen pussy before diving in, his tongue lapping up your juices. You grip the counter for support as his tongue circles your clit, his hands gripping your ass to pull you closer.
"Fuck, baby, you taste so good," Wade growls, his voice low and husky. He sucks on your clit, flicking his tongue against the sensitive bundle of nerves. You cry out, your hips bucking against his face as he adds a finger, sliding it into your slick folds. He curls it upwards, hitting your g-spot with each stroke.
Your orgasm crashes over you unexpectedly, and you cling to him as the waves of pleasure wash over you. Wade pulls back slightly, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth as he tugs off his boxers, revealing his hard, throbbing cock.
He lifts you up onto the counter, and you wrap your legs around his waist as he lines himself up with your entrance. He teases the head of his cock against your clit, making you writhe with need before plunging into you in one swift motion.
The feeling of him inside you is almost too much to bear, and you grip his shoulders as he thrusts into you, his movements strong and steady. Your moans fill the steamy bathroom as he takes you harder and faster, his fingers digging into your hips.
"You like that, baby?" he asks, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth.
"Fuck yes," you gasp, your nails leaving marks on his skin. He chuckles and leans in to capture your mouth in another searing kiss. Wade's fingers dig into your hips as he thrusts deep inside you, each stroke hitting that sweet spot that sends shivers down your spine.
"Fuck, baby, I'm gonna come," he growls, his voice low and rough with desire. He pulls out of you, his cock still throbbing and slick with your juices. His hand wraps around his shaft, pumping it a few times as he leans in to press a hard kiss to your lips.
With a final groan, he pulls back and you watch in fascination as ropes of cum erupt from his cock, landing in hot streaks on your stomach. You can feel the warmth of it against your skin, and it sends a thrill through your body.
"Fuck, that was intense," Wade pants, his chest heaving as he catches his breath. He leans in to trail kisses down your neck and across your collarbone, his hands roaming over your body.
"Mmm, yes it was," you moan, your own desire still pulsing through you. You reach down to run your fingers through the sticky mess on your stomach, then bring them to your lips, tasting the salty tang of his cum.
Wade groans at the sight, his cock twitching with renewed interest. "You're so fucking sexy," he growls, his hands sliding down to cup your ass and pull you closer. You can feel his hardness pressing against you, and it makes you ache for more.
The two of you continue to kiss passionately as he lifts you up from the counter. Your legs remain wrapped around his waist, while your arms drape over his neck as he carries you into the shower. The warm water washes away any thoughts of Logan, leaving behind only lingering sensations from a night of intense passion and pleasure. Your body still tingles with delight under the cascade of water, and you can't help but smile at the memory of Wade's skilled fingers playing your body like a finely-tuned instrument.

Twins Part 3
Tumblr media
Kylian Mbappe Part 3 If you haven't read the other two parts, click here and you can read the other parts. PART 1 | PART 2 Word Count: "So I was thinking…" Kylian walked in the room and announced. "Ooh don't do that, might hurt your brain" you giggled. "Thanks for that, but I was actually thinking we need to tell my parents. I know Mum is going to be desperate to know about the babies and Ethan deserves to know of course" he smiled.
"Oh okay, yeah that sounds cool. We have a scan photo that we can show and anyway we also need to discuss something else?" you told him. "What is that then?" he asked. "Well that you are leaving Paris, we are leaving Paris?" you hesitated as you and Kylian had barely mentioned the whole situation just yet as it was still a subject you had barely spoken about it. "I know we are, that doesn't mean anything changes between us?" he questioned as he looked down at you. "It does change, we move and I move with you. I am having twins Ky. It isn't normal, it is a crazy situation for us both and I know you have your heart set on Madrid, But what happens with the babies, it is scary for us and the babies. I know it has happened at the craziest time in your life, you getting up and leaving your home" you told Kylian, scared for his reaction. "I am sorry, I totally understand. If you want to stay here in Paris then we can sort that out" he told you as you simply shook your head. "I am not staying here on my own, whilst I am heavily pregnant. I will always move with you. I am just saying that it is going to be a huge change and we need to discuss this together, not just you and your agents right now. WE need to talk about it with them, maybe we need to let them know." you stood up from the sofa. "Are you sure? you are ready to talk about this with others?" he grabbed your hand as you gently put it out. "Yes Kylian. We have to talk about it, we are expecting two babies." you told him as he grabbed you tightly. "Okay, I get it. Let's go and we can explain what is happening" you smiled in agreement as you headed to grab your shoes. "We can tell your mum and brother first" you smiled as you jumped into the car as you anxiously played with your fingers as you were feeling slightly apprehensive as you told people you were expecting. "Oh hello darling" Kylian's mother embraced him in a big cuddle as she moved onto you. "Hello" you smiled as she squeezed you tightly as you walked into the living room where Ethan was sitting. "Hey bro" he smiled as he cuddled you, whilst his mum came in with drinks. "Thank you" you smiled as Kylian handed you a glass of water. "How are you doing?" they asked. "We have something to show you" you told them as you turned to them as you handed them the pregnancy scan. "Oh my goodness, you are having a baby?" She squealed as she looked at the scan. "Wait, why does it say baby A and B?" she gasped as she realised as Ethan examined the scan. "Oh my gosh?? Twins" they both shouted as they looked straight at you. "Yes two of them" you nervously laughed. "Oh I am just so happy for you both, I can imagine that it was a complete shock to the system when you saw that on the scan" she muttered as she leaned across to give you a cuddle. "Yes it was scary, especially when we are moving to a new city. But I am excited for a new chapter" you smiled as Ethan hugged you both. "I can't wait, I am just so happy for you because you'll make perfect parents. I also get to be a Nana. But please don't call me Grandma" she laughs. "Course not" you smiled.

Shout out to young JM who wanted Jk so bad it had him looking like a stage 3 clinger & shout out to Jk who has done everything in his power to keep that beautiful man once he had him & now a stage 6 clinger. Congrats. I keep thinking about when they were in NY the Megan BTB & how all those bags are sitting there & Jk instinctively grabs 2 and you see JM realizing Jk has his & doesn't have to get one, when the other members are holding theirs. SNIFFS. Its Jj carrying JM's bags & his shoes when they come off his feet. Rubbing his shoulders at any given point, cause one he wants to touch JM, but also knows JM is in pain all the time. Its him cooking the biggest pancake for JM & telling JM of course, you know I'll do it, when JM asked him to cook for him. Or only buying birthday presents for JM. Its him telling JM in front of the world, I'm your fan & hyping everything he does. Its him wanting to cut something cause he doesn't want JM's hand to get hurt or when Vmin were playing with a yoyo, it was JM who was given a lecture on Safety by Jk, about his fingers hurting & this is how accidents happen. Not a word when Tae was playing with it, but the minute JM gets it, his anxiety & boyfriending kicked in, just like when Tae was gonna flip his food & Jk said don't fling it at JM. Jk Coming after Suga with a Frying pan. Bulldozing RM out the way messing with JM. Physically moving Suga away from JM. Bulldozing past Tae to stand directly in front of JM & stare directly at him, when he was thanking Army for an award. Damn, he's just giving a TY speech, not accepting a nobel peace prize, Calm down. The way he guides JM walking up the steps or lets him walk ahead of him. The way he could hear the nervousness in JM's tone & he turns & nods and stares JM down giving his UN speech. Just reassuring JM with his little head nod, I'm here, beside you, you got this & if you notice it was when Jk turned to him when JM let out that deep breath/shudder & said sorry & had to shake it off. Just seeing JK's reassurance almost caused him to loose it. The way the others teased JM over it & Jk jumped to his defense, ready to take on all his Hyungs, but it was him in the end, who couldn't remember when he took a picture with Tae & said it was the day JM said sorry, it was all that stuck in his head. Every little detail he remembers. Even Jimin's grandma's birthday. There within 1 minute when JM called him on his bday live, dropping everyone. Even When he's missing JM he takes it public in front of millions and shows where his heart lies. Who owns his heart. Who he loves & doesn't care if he looks like a fool, as long as people know he's a fool in love. Look at how he chose the buddy system with JM, when he knew he had options & he & JM are complete opposites when it comes to thrill seeking. And how he has made himself look even more sus & clingy, by even saying anything about other branches (BTW his wants are valid and its very much okay if he wanted to do other things) but he still didn't go through with it & instead went through a timely process and enlisted with JM instead. Didn't even enlist on your own that would give you independence and thrills and instead followed JM with the buddy system to hell.
The things we do for love. And If he hasn't told JM yet that he is in love with him, which I am sure he has and or JM at least feels it, but if he hasn't, I hope he gets the courage too one day, cause doing all this, plus following someone to depths of hell, is an awful lot of loving on one person, for it to be for nothing. To do all this for someone, then go home empty handed. What a hell you have to live in that you created for yourself. FYI, I think JM is just as in love with Jk and he appreciates everything, because Letter says it & that he plans to give it all back, what he's received, and I know JM is a man of his word. In fact, I'd say Jk is pretty damn satisfied & gets it back, cause he's still there, standing next to JM, just like he promised. I've never rooted so hard in my life for two people, but these two, I hope it all works out for them and Whatever kind of love it is that they have for one another. I hope it lasts forever.
Damn the onions got my eyes😭😭😭😭🤧

grandma's house by billtheradish (G | 1/1 | 1,232)
Let me tell you a secret about grandma's house.
There is no grandmother, and there is no house. There's no single or set road to get there, and the path doesn't always exist.
Grandma's house isn't a place. It isn't a thing. Grandma's house is a concept.
It's risk. It's reward.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
tell me we're dead and i'll love you even more series by hoars (2 works | E | 4,050)
The link between wolves and red is the link between madness and human mates.
1. Red is a Madness (E | 1/1 | 2,065) “Kill her, kill her!” Allison shrieks over and over. Her mother’s face only has time to show betrayal before the pack descends on her. All the werewolves ripping chunks of Victoria Argent from her bones. The other hunters shouting in confusion and horror because now the ground is level. Before the pack ran and didn’t engage. Now the hunters run, the ‘wolves tearing them all apart and she’s viciously glad, wants them all to die for daring to take what’s hers. (companion to Red is Vicious) 2. Red is Vicious (E | 1/1 | 1,985) Or that’s how the story supposedly goes. Derek doesn’t know for sure. It’s the lesson that the story teaches that’s important: human mates are /dangerous/. (companion to Red is a Madness)

ticket for littering by kellifer_fic (M | 1/1 | 7,607)
Stiles is totally ready for his life to stop being a horror movie and start being a romcom. This... isn't exactly what he had in mind.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
as if he were the sun by impossiblespark (T | 1/1 | 9,202)
“Scott, I told you, I’m- oh.” Stiles cuts himself off when he opens his eyes and turns to find Derek standing by his open window, brows furrowed dangerously, jaw clenched, nostrils flaring.
His breath catches painfully somewhere in his throat.
He winces almost imperceptibly as he struggles to sit up. Derek still catches it, and his eyes flash red.
His fucking life.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sheriff Noah Stilinski by DearDaisy (Scribblesnpaws) (G | 1/1 | 9,411)
Sheriff Noah Stilinki knows about werewolves and his son lying to him.
He may not be the best father, but he would do everything in his power to keep his son safe.
It’s time he found out more.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
love always wakes the dragon by hoars (E | 1/1 | 11,225)
“If you could only protect one person, who would it be?”
“Derek.”
“What would you do to keep him alive? What would you give up?”
“Anything. Everything.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First Impressions Are Overrated by Leslie_Knope (T | 1/1 | 14,634)
In Stiles’ defense, he didn’t deliberately ram his grocery cart into the (evidently precarious) pyramid of oranges.

“There’s a sign,” Derek responds stiffly.
Stiles, whose curiosity outweighs even his hardest of grudges, abandons his chilly façade of nonchalance in a heartbeat. Valhalla series by peacensafety (3 works | M | 60,986)
1. Weak and Powerless (M | 18/18 | 55,585) Stiles has to remember part of his past that he would really like to ignore until it went away, thank you very much. If people would just let him keep ignoring it, it would be great. Now that there's an Alpha pack, and secret agents, and his dad is keeping secrets from him, and why exactly is Derek hanging around so much now? Ignoring it is going to be just impossible to do. Thank God his shrink lets him have as much anti-anxiety medication as he wants. 2. Viewpoint (M | 1/1 | 2,882) This series started because of the Teen Wolf fanfic contest. The Boy who Fought with Wolves series by Onlymystory (10 works | T-E | 64,547)
Tin here. For some reason, Tumblr is giving me absolute hell about including any of the individual story summaries here, so I'm just to going to give you a little info about the series and hopefully you'll check them all out:
The series contains 10 (mostly) unrelated stories that are all about different verariations of a BAMF!Stiles. You get a little dash of "Stiles is secretly a former hunter" action in there, a little bit of Stiles as the Second to Derek's Alpha, and a heaping dollop of other!Stiles as well. It's a fun series with some interesting concepts and world building, and I often revisit this series when I'm craving some badass Stiles Stilinski vibes.

This Is My Kingdom Come by Salomonderiel (M | 4/4 | 64,875)
By the time he’d hit his 17th birthday, he’d sorted his life out. It came down to this: His name was Stiles Stilinski. He was the son of the Sheriff and his wife, deceased, and his best friend was Scott McCall, an ex-asthmatic werewolf with a nurse mother and an absent father. He was the cleverest in his class, after the strawberry blonde he had a crush on, and he had been diagnosed with ADHD at the age of seven. On full moons, he ran around and cooked for the local pack of werewolves. And he was a demon changeling.
Stiles has managed to avoid Hell and its natives for near 16 years. He's almost managed to fool himself he's human. And best friend who smells of wet dog or not, he thinks he'd got a pretty good deal with this second chance at a life, and is planning to stick with it. But, unknown to Stiles, the new king of Hell has other ideas...

Fake dating pt.1
“Rules”
Tumblr media
Stiles stilinski x Fem!reader
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
———————————————————
As the school day came to an end you walked towards stiles’s car like you do everyday since he drives you to and from school, you looked around and saw stiles coming out the front entrance with Scott as they said their goodbyes
You were already waiting inside the car since for some reason stiles never locks his door or it simply dosent lock which wouldn’t surprise you considering how many times roscoo had broken down in the past, the car ride home was fairly Silent beside the soft music playing in the background, you kept Turning to stiles then turning away looking like a fish out of water the way your mouth opened and closed as you tried to figure out what you should say to him about his current plan.
“Are you just going to keep on looking at me, or are you going to say something?” Stiles asked looking your way for a split second before turning back to the road ahead of him, you rolled your eyes and sighed
“I was just thinking about if we were going to tell Scott about your stupid plan or not” you said unsure shrugging your shoulders, Scott knew about your crush on stiles for a while since he realized how weird you started to act around your guys’s best friend and since you couldn’t keep anything from Scott you had shared your embarrassing secret with him, but you made him pinky promise to never say anything and he hasn’t, which is why you tell Scott everything now especially big things like this
“No we can’t tell Scott!” Stiles said as if it was obvious “if we tell Scott he’s gonna talk you out of it, then I’ll never get Lydia, plus if we want this to seem real we need as many people to think it is, including Scott, so this stays between us”
“I just don’t like keeping anything from him, I mean isn’t he gonna have a lot of questions when we suddenly tell him we’re dating, annndd he can hear our heart beats to see if we lie” you stated trying to hint that stiles didn’t really think this through
“Look we’ll deal with that later okay, but first we should just come up with a solid story to stick to and go from there”
“Okay, but we’re laying down some ground rules”
“Rules, seriously?” He chuckled
“Yes seriously! Rule number one, no kissing”
“Right cause it’s so believable that we’re dating but don’t kiss” he said as we pulled up into my driveway
“Okay well cheek, forehead, top of my head anddd hand are available for all your kissing desires” you looked at him smugly
“What am I, your grandma?” He looked at you amused but agreed nonetheless “well if you get to make rules then so do I, so you have to go to all my lacrosse games” he said crossing his arms over his chest
“You mean the lacrosse games in which you sit on the bench the whole time?” You raised a brow at him in a teasing voice to which he just scoffed annoyed
“Fine, if I have to go to all your games then…” you paused to think “then! you have to teach me how to drive twice a week until I get my license” you said excitedly
“Absolutely not, no way am I getting into a car with you again after last time” he said as he started to remember when him and Scott tried to teach you how to drive one day, which ended up with a roll of ductape and a possible trip to the E-R if Scott didn’t heal the way he did.
“Oh come on it was one time! Pleasee” you pouted using your best pleading voice to convince him
“Okay fine, but if I end up dead before the plan can go into action I’m coming back to life and then taking you with me” he said
“Eeeeee thank you! thank you!” You squealed giving him a hug before getting out, and as you were about to open your front door stiles popped his head out the window and said one last thing
“Oh and Y/n!” He shouted as you turned your head to look at him “Rule number 4 no falling in love with me” he joked, pulling out the drive way with a little laugh
“Yeah haha” you said turning back around to open your front door “no falling in love this time.” You said to yourself.
——————————————————————————
~Rules~
1-No kissing (unless it’s on the cheek, forehead, top of head or hand)
2-you have to go to all his lacrosse games (even if he’s on the bench most of the time)
3-He has to teach you how to drive twice a week until you get your license
4-No falling in love

➣ sunrise to sunset — 6:30am
Tumblr media
pairing: dan heng x gn!reader
word count: 3.4K
summary: your annual summer visit to your grandparents results in meeting someone new, someone you find yourself falling for quickly.
notes from lee: got this idea from the very lovely vera's (@verxsyon) post that you can read here! but it's been rattling around in my brain for months and i have a pintrest board dedicated to it... this is just the first part since this only got through 3 of 13 bullet points...
Tumblr media
It’s become somewhat of a tradition to fly out to see your grandparents and work at their local flower shop during your summers. This summer was no different, finishing your semester and exams and catching a red-eye flight.
As you exit the cab and walk to the shop front, you can feel just how tired you are: jetlagged with tired eyes and unsteady legs. It’s too early for the store to be open, but you know that the back door on the porch is almost always unlocked.
You start making your way around the shop, and once around the corner, the rising sun blinds you. You put up your hand to block out the sun, but something else blocks the light, making your hand useless. Well, it’s more like someone, and he’s ridiculously handsome. The sunrise gives him a picturesque backlight, something no one should look that good with.
“Um, is there something I can help you with?” The man asks, with a cocked head. He’s wearing an apron with your name embroidered on it, gardening gloves, and rubber boots. He’s holding the worn metal tub you’ve used for picking flowers before; it’s filled with begonias, gloxinias, hellebores, and monkshoods.
You’re shocked by many things, but mainly that he’s wearing your apron, so your response comes delayed and confused, “I live here?”
“Are you sure? That sounded more like a question.” He chuckles awkwardly, and it’s maybe the best laugh you’ve heard in your life
You wave your hands in the air as if you could clear out the embarrassment. “Sorry, I mean, my grandparents live here.”
“Oh! Then you must be,” he gestures to your name embroidered on the apron, “Let me grab your bag.”
“I’ve got it. Just finish your flower picking. Opening won’t wait for you.” You smile tiredly at him, your fatigue starting to catch up the longer you stand chatting with the cute guy.
He chuckles and steps out of the way to let you through towards the back porch with the unlocked door. You pull your suitcase up the stairs behind you as it makes an obnoxious thump. You can see your grandma and grandpa sitting at the table, sipping on their mugs. Their heads turn at the shut of the screen door, but don’t call out your name. “Dan Heng, we’ve made you coffee. Don’t worry, it’s black, no cream or sugar.”
“Dan Heng? Is that the young guy you have out there doing your chores?” The smiles on both their faces stretch wider, revealing their wrinkled faces that have smile lines and crow's feet, a true sign of their happiness.
“Oh, honey! It’s such a treat to see you here.” Your grandma stands up to pinch your cheeks, and you let her.
“I come every summer; if anything, I’m a nuisance.” She slaps your cheek lightly at your remark.
“Interest you in any coffee?” Your grandpa asks, already starting another pot. Though, it’s more likely for your grandma than you.
“I just want to sleep, so I’ll go to my room if you don’t mind.” You trudge up the stairs again, followed by the same thud of the suitcase. The room is just to the right of the stairway landing, but the door is ajar. You can see some clothes on the floor and the bed unmade. You shout to your grandparents, “Did you guys have a guest? There’s some stuff in here.”
“Don’t worry about it, darling, just get you some sleep.” You can tell there’s some undertone to her words, but you don’t care to decipher it.
You shrug and place your suitcase against the wall. You can’t be bothered to change right now, so just your shoes plop onto the floor as you do the same on the bed.
It smells like the laundry detergent your grandparents keep and something else you can’t quite place. Whatever it is, it’s comforting and lulls you to sleep nicely.
Tumblr media
When you wake up, the clock blares in angry red numbers, telling you you’ve been asleep for around four hours. The blinds make the sunlight appear in stripes across the bedding. You take yourself downstairs to the kitchen area you had been in earlier.
Before you rummage through the fridge, you poke your head into the flower shop. Your grandma comes over as soon as she sees you. “Honey, you’ve got bedhead.” She has you bend so her hands can smooth over your hair to the best of her ability.
“Is that Dan Heng guy working the front?” You peek around the corner.
Your grandma follows suit. “Mmhm, his cute face brings in all the customers, so your grandpa and I make him. But he’s got a young body, so he moves stuff for us too.”
“So he runs the whole store? I hope you pay him well.” You laugh, joking with your grandma, but she looks at you and gives a nervous smile. “Oh my god, you don’t pay him.”
She plays with her fingers as she explains, “Well, it’s not that we don’t offer to pay him, he just doesn’t accept. He’s kinda like you, just lives with us and works.”
“That’s why my room is dirty? Gran, there’s a guest room for a reason.” You motion up to where the room is and try not to sound too irritated.
“Y’know that room has been filled for a long while, plus we didn’t know you were coming, hon! No letters, emails, or calls to the landline. So we let him borrow the room. He’s so nice and helpful. He’d be such a good husband,” she tries to explain but gives away her ulterior motive: matchmaking.
You give her a deadpan look at the revelation. “Do you know anything about him other than his name?”
“No, but…” She starts but trails off.
“Point proven! Yes, he’s very good-looking, and according to you, a hard worker, but beyond that, you and I don’t know anything. How can either of us consider him to be husband material off the three things we know about him?” You ask her seriously, not noticing that the man in question is peeking around the corner as you had done earlier.
“I heard my name?” His pink-tinged ears tell you he has heard at least some of your conversation.
She pats Dan Heng on the shoulder and tells him, “Oh, don’t worry, doll, I’m just telling ‘em how the two of you should get married.”
Both of you shout her name, but she doesn’t appear startled.
He opens his mouth to say something, hopefully, to dispute what your grandma had said, but the bell rings at the door front. “We’ll talk later, okay?” He looks straight at you, and waits for your confirmation, even with the urgency of a customer at the front desk. When you nod, he seems to relax a bit and nods back.
He disappears around the corner, and you look down at your grandma with hands on your hips. She only smiles and shrugs.
Tumblr media
After inhaling what you can from the fridge, you decide it’d be best to start cleaning the spare room. It’s not like you could share a bed with Dan Heng.
When you get up there and open the door to the room, it’s packed full of boxes. The labeled boxes are ones you’ve seen in the attic, so you yell down to ask about it. “Gran, what’re the attic boxes doing in the guest room?”
Though you expect your Grandma to answer it's your Grandpa who replies, “There was a leak in the roof, so we had to move it all.” You hear as he climbs up the stairs and stands next to you. “I’m getting too old to go up the ladder with all that weight, so it’s just staying here.”
The room is practically overflowing with boxes, picture frames, and other odd-shaped items that didn’t fit in boxes. The mattress and disassembled bed frame are rested against the wall, trapped behind the stuff within the room. You certainly had your work cut out for yourself if you wanted Dan Heng out of your room by tonight.
You sigh just thinking about the work that needs to get done, and your Grandpa takes it as a sign. “Just wait until I ask Dan Heng to come up here. He'll be a big help. He moves all the stuff for the shop all the time.”
Before you can say anything, your Grandpa is down the stairs and poking his head into the flower shop, much like you had before with your Grandma. You can hear Dan Heng talking with your Grandpa, but you can’t make out the words.
You do, however, hear a new set of footsteps walking up the stairs, nothing quite like the heavy clomp of your grandfather’s or the light tread your grandmother has. Instead, his footsteps are almost silent, only the creaking of the floorboards gives him away.
You’re listening so intently to the footsteps that you don’t notice when he’s behind you until he puts a hand on your shoulder. You flinch dramatically at his touch, which makes him retract his hand. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you,” he apologizes quickly.
You start to explain what you need help with when the AC clicks on. The incredibly loud sound of the fan is accompanied by the door slamming shut. You forgot that this door needed to be held open so that the AC didn’t glue it closed. It was a result of the house being old, as the AC tended to keep the door shut with the force of the airflow coming out of the fan. It was common for you to find yourself stuck when you were younger. So, for the time being, you were stuck with Dan Heng in the overcrowded room of boxes.
You sigh, sit atop one of the boxes, and pat the one next to you. “You wanted to talk, right? Let’s do it now while the AC runs through.”
He sits upon your request and sighs similarly. “I don’t think I’ve formally introduced myself, I’m Dan Heng.” He reaches his hand out for you to shake.
You take his hand and say your name, not that he doesn’t know it. “So about earlier…” you trail, trying to find the least embarrassing words to say, “My grandparents like playing matchmaker for me, but I can promise I didn’t put them up to it, so it'd be best if you forgot about it.”
“Consider it forgotten then.” He laughs but turns to you to ask, “But that’s not all you wanted to talk about, right?” His eyebrows raise as he looks at you with a pointed look. He’s already seen through you.
Though you feel shy under his gaze, you know you have to ask the questions your grandparents wouldn’t, “Why are you here in the first place?”
He answers right away, likely expecting the question. “It was raining hard, and I stepped into the first shop there was. They gave me dry clothes and a meal. Since the storm hadn’t subsided, they let me stay the night in your room, which I didn’t know belonged to you. I tried to pay your grandparents, but they refused, so I’ve been working to repay them.”
“Is that the only reason you’re here? Can you promise you’re not a serial killer or taking advantage of my grandparents?”
“Do I really look like that kind of person?” He sighs, looking slightly concerned at your accusation of him.
You don’t outright answer him with a yes or no, but instead prod further. “I mean, there was a serial killer who lured his victims in by being handsome. Who’s to say you’re not the same?” You ask, only realizing you’d outright called him handsome to his face after the words came out.
He’s unfazed by your unintentional flattery and puts his hand on his chest. “I promise I am not a serial killer, nor taking advantage of your grandparents' kindness and hospitality.”
“Pinky swear?” You hold out your pinky to him, a childish gesture, but it’d put your worries to rest if he indulged you.
He loops his pinky with yours and repeats you with a firm tone, “Pinky swear.”
You stifle a laugh at his sincerity and seriousness. “I think my grandparents are actually taking advantage of you, but I’m glad to know I won’t be murdered in my sleep.”
“Good, I was starting to get worried that I wouldn’t be able to convince you.” He tells you honestly, and you can’t help but laugh at his admittance. He looks at you and chuckles while shaking his head. Your cheeks begin to feel warm at the sound, and something’s definitely changed about the way you view him.
The whirring of the fan finally falls silent, and the door audibly unsticks from the doorframe, breaking you from your train of thought. You pop up from where you sat almost automatically and open the door, so you’re no longer trapped.
You pull on the string connected to the ceiling, and the folded ladder cascades down until it reaches the floor. You walk up only a few steps so you can pop your head in and assess what the situation is. There are definite signs of water damage and plywood amateurly nailed to the slanted ceiling. It smells just as nostalgic and musty as you remember with the slight scent of rainwater that’s permeated through the wood. It’s seemingly all dry now, so it should be fine to put the boxes and miscellaneous things in the guest room up in the attic now.
You waddle down the ladder, and Dan Heng reaches his hand up to place his hand on your lower back in support. His hand moves with you until he watches your feet touch on the floor before trailing his gaze back up to your eyes.
You hesitate because of the tingly feeling you have due to his actions, which he seems to not pick up on as you tell him, “If you stand on the ladder, I’ll pass you the boxes, and you can just shove them up into the attic.”
You pick up the closest box to the door, it’s filled with empty picture frames, ones that your grandparents had sworn they would fill with pictures and hang. After picking up the box, you move to the side of the ladder and balance the box on your head so it’ll be easier for him to grab the box from you.
His arms wrap around the box easily and his hands brush against yours briefly. After he takes the box, you look up to make sure he’s not struggling with it. As you check, his black tee rides up and gives you a peek of his stomach and the well defined muscles that lie underneath. You look away before he can catch you staring and grab another box from the room.
The two of you work in tandem until you’ve got a bulk of the boxes out of the room, at least enough for the mattress to be put down. With Dan Heng’s help, you drag the mattress to the middle of the room and push the rest of the boxes to the wall for now. Neither of you have the energy to put together the frame, so the bed stays on the floor.
You flop onto the bed and sigh, the room is a sad excuse for a living space and you’re starting to feel bad for condemning Dan Heng to it. The mattress creaks and dips as Dan takes a seat next to you. “Thanks for your help with the boxes. It’s not perfect but it’ll be sleepable for tonight. It’s better than sharing a bed with me, at least.” You joke, but he doesn’t laugh.
“It’s more than enough for me. In fact it’s probably more than I deserve.” He says quietly, playing with his fingers.
“Why would you say that? You deserve a place to sleep, a roof over your head, and payment for your work.” You bring up the issue that your grandmother had told you about earlier, if you were going to interrogate him, you’d find out about all of it.
He shakes his head, “Don’t worry about it.” You sit up and look at him with a pointed look trying to get him to tell you, but he's saved by your grandma calling for dinner. You watch as he scrambles out the uncomfortable atmosphere of the room.
Tumblr media
Dan Heng’s words rattle around in your head as you do the dishes after dinner. After putting the leftovers in tupperware, you let it cool before you put on a lid and into the fridge. You put a swirl of soap in the bottom of the stock pot before letting it fill with hot water, soapy suds forming and rising with the water. You turn off the water right before it threatens to spill over, much like your thoughts.
You let the pots soak while you truly ponder over Dan Heng’s words. What made him feel like he wasn’t deserving of basic human rights? Was he some kind of runaway or criminal? You shake your head at the last thought, he told you he wasn’t a murderer and his reaction alone told you that he wouldn’t be capable enough to go through with something violent. What about a faraway prince that was exiled like in a Hallmark movie? You laugh to yourself at that, those kinds of scenarios didn’t happen in real life.
Tumblr media
There is nothing you want more than to just flop into your bed and sleep, but you’re grimy with sweat from moving things around earlier. Walking into your room is just another reminder of things you have to do before you can rest.
Dan Heng is there, knelt on the floor and picking up his belongings. He gives an awkward smile and finishes zipping up his duffle and leaves.
You stare at the unmade bed and remember how well you slept in it this morning. You do need to wash the sheets though, you can’t let Dan Heng’s scent permeate into your brain more than it already has. It dawns on you that he’ll need bedding too so you walk to the linen closet.
When the creaky door opens you can see there’s only one set of bedding. Of course, you have to give Dan bedding, so it’s either you don’t wash your bedding or you wait up until it’s done.
You take the bundles of fabric and take it to his room. He’s not there but you don’t care and start to put the sheets on. It’s certainly a challenge as the bed is on the floor so it takes many trips around the bed and picking it up before you get the sheets on.
There’s no pillows on the bed, but there’s some vacuum sealed ones up in the closet so you step up on one of the boxes that’ll hold for a second and pull down the bag. You don’t know how you don’t hear Dan Heng, but when you turn around he’s there, wrapped in a towel and dripping all over the rug.
“Oh.” He makes a small noise of surprise and you can see a pink flush visibly spread from his cheeks up to the tips of his ears and down to his chest.
You’re quick to slap both hands over your eyes and drop the vacuum sealed bag to the floor. (Not quick enough that you don’t have the image ingrained to your eyelids though.) “I am so sorry. I was just putting sheets on the bed, I didn’t mean for…” You trail, not sure how to put this encounter into words.
With one hand still over your eyes, you reach the other one out to find the wall and stumble out of the room. Once you reach the door frame, you outstretch your arm behind you aimlessly to find the door handle and shut yourself out of the room with another few sorrys.
Once in your own room, you collapse into the bed despite your earlier reluctance to do so. It still smells like Dan Heng.
