I'm having trouble getting in a writing mood and reading others story always make me happy. I've never really sent request before so this would be my frist, I hope it's not much trouble, and if you can't find inspiration for it, I'll understand if you can't or don't want to do it.

I was hoping you could write a yandere assassination classroom, the entire class of 3-E or just a few like Karma, Nagisa, Itona (anyone really) with a reader that couldn't care less about their yandere nature, and someone blurts out (do to feeling guilty) that they have been stalking them home and had taking some of their stuff (the class thinking reader will get mad) but reader just shrugged and say they already knew and that they need to work on their stalking because she figured them out on day 2. Gender doesn't matter, but if you do gender fluid that be nice if not anything else is good.

"Hey Ritsu, are you connected?" Tomohito asks, sitting down at a desk beside her.

"Yes, the girls put the cameras in, there are no blind spots," Ritsu answers.

"Wait, no blind spots? Wouldn't that be... I don't know..." Kaede says worried.

"The cameras are only in their living room, we didn't put any cameras in anything else if that was what you were thinking," Tomohito says reassuring Kaede.

"Well we did put some listening devices, in some of the plushies we gave them, isn't that right? Itona?" Rio asks, putting an arm around him.

"Making them was a bit tricky, but it was a lot easier to make than the cameras," Itona says, playing with his remote car.

"You guys are seriously trying too hard," Karma says, in a mocking tone having his dumb smirk, plastered on his face.

"Really now? and what do you suggest we do differently?" Ryoma asks, clearly annoyed.

"You all a bunch of babies, if you really loved Y/N you'll skip this boring stalking thing, and just take things into your own hands," Karma says, with a statistic smile.

"If we were to do that Y/N would hate us forever," Nagisa counters back.

"Really?, Because I think that if we keep them long enough, they will eventually fall for us, I mean humans are social creatures, needing contact in order to survive, with us being their only contact they will eventually fall for us, right?" Karma says explaining.

"Even if that were to happen, if we keep them isolated they might break, losing themselves then loving us, I don't want that to happen," Nagisa says seriously, looking up at Karma.

"A small price that might be paid," Karma says, shrugging "But if it were just me, they wouldn't break, but now that I am sharing the chances would be higher," he says as if the class were all just a nuisance.

"Guys! Shut Up! Y/N just walked into the building!" Hinata says, panting a bit as she just ran into the room.

With that, the room goes silent...

Until...

"Takuya I'm sorry, but I'm busy after school today how about tomorrow?" you say walking in the room. All eyes are on you, ".....Um.. Hey guys?" you say unsurely.

The tension in the room faded, and they all started talking like nothing happened. It was a bit scary how the mood can change like a flip of a switch.

"Hey Y/N! What were you talking about with Takuya?" Manami asks, in her usual timid voice.

"Oh just if I was able to hand out at the ramen place later on today, but I'm hanging out with Rinka and Ryunosuke later," you say casually.

"Heh, sorry Takuya but there are already three of us, maybe next time we'll invite you," Rinka says teasingly.

"Hey Y/N, do you wanna come with me to the teacher's lounge? Korosensei just came back from Germany yesterday," Kaede asks, popping her head out the door. "Sounds fun and good, I'm in," you say excitedly, as you head out the door.

Takuya waits for your footsteps to become gone before saying "You just want more pictures of Y/N that's the only reason you and Ryunosuke, are taking them out," clearly annoyed.

"Oh whatever, you always like looking at the pictures in the end, just like everyone else," Ryunosuke says rolling his eyes.

"I.. just make sure they're good," Takuya says embarrassed.

"Your talking to the best snippers in class 3-E, we always have good visuals on our target," Rinka says, hearing the pride in her voice.

"I thought you guys said that Rinka and Ryunosuke stopped taking pictures of Y/N?" Manami asks worried.

"I... well... it's complicated," Hiroto says, trying to explain it to her, as he was the one who told Manami that they stopped taking pictures of Y/N.

"He obviously lied to you," Karma says blankly. "Your too empathic, we needed you to stop worrying over Y/N, knowing that you would break, telling them everything... well ruining everything for all of us," Karma says explaining.

"I admit that I'm not the best actor, but you guys didn't have to lie about Y/N, I care about them, just as much as any of you guys, I even made the drugs you asked for," Manami says, as he holds up a bag of different bottles.

"Wait... what drugs?" Nagisa asks, confused and curious.

"You know the the drugs, I made my own chloroform, something that calms the mind, something that weakens muscles, and lastly something that can make them sleepy," Manami says explaining.

"We didn't... Karma!" Nagisa says, angry by the thought Karma would do such a thing.

"So what if I was, I promise I won't do it alright, especially now that you know," Karma says as he puts his hands up.

"Hey guys! We're back," Kaede says, walking through the door. Signaling to everyone that you are nearby, it became a habit sometimes when they talk they become so engaged in the conversation, that they lose track of anything else, including your presence.

"Ah Y/N, just the person I wanted to see," Karma says, with a sweet smile. You know something is up when he smiles like that, just when does he normally smile sweetly?

"Karma... what do you want?" You ask hesitantly, staying cautious.

"You know, we barely spend time with each other, most of the time you just hang out with everyone else... it seems like your avoiding me," he says hurt, clearly acting.

"Karma you know that's not true, everyone just makes plans with me every single second of the day, you know this, so what's your point?" you ask, wondering what he is trying to say.

"It's just that...don't you think it's a bit odd... that every day you have someone that wants to hang out with you, it's a bit abnormal behavior? Ever noticed how everyone treats you slightly differently? Or the fact that they know small details about you, that you've never shared before? Do you wonder why is that?" Karma says still smiling, but with a mischievous face.

"Karma..." Nagisa says, with a dark look, warning Karma.

"You messed up my plan, I'm just returning the favor," Karma says looking at Nagisa, then turns to you.

"Well, don't you?" Karma says in a smug tone.

"... I wonder why, on my first day of school, Rinka and Ryunosuke were following me home, I wonder why Kotaro somehow knows when I'm going to mess up on things, I wonder why Nagisa has a whole notebook dedicated to me, and lastly I wonder why you act so innocent when you are the worst one out of everyone, do seriously think I don't know that you hurt people that I talk to that is not in this class? And a whole lot more things of you and the rest of the class," You say, calm and collected.

"You knew this whole time?..." Nagisa asks with wide eyes.

"Anyone would have been able to see and know what you all were planning," You say turning to look back at him. (Any normal person would be oblivious to it all)

"Heh, I knew I couldn't fall in love with just any normal person, turns out you truly are unique," Karma says proud that you were conscious of what they were doing.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru - AMAZING CHARACTER, I LOVE HIM SO MUCH, LITERALLY KIN HIM SO MUCH, love the VA, hated his death and trial. - 10/10

Mondo Owada - He's also the best, I love his design, his character, his VA, his motive, his trial, his execution was kinda.... BUT I STILL LOVE MONDO - 10/10

Sonia Nevermind - She's so funny and her ftes are great! So good and love her in trials. Great VA, sondam is awesome. - 9/10

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu - Great Ch.Development after chp2 love him so much. - 9/10

39. Mukuro Ikusaba - Wish she was in THH longer! OMG FAKE-JUNKO WAS SO COOL! Didn't see enough of her to rate higher. - 5.6/10

40. Izuru Kamakura - Cool concept, overrated tho- 5.5/10

41. Junko Enoshima - Cool ch. shit motive. Killed my faves- 5.3/10

42. Imposter/"Byakuya" - Good in SDR2 but didn't see enough of him :( - 5.2/10

43. Usami/Monomi - Cute mascot but I skipped her ALL of her dialogue because she annoyed TF out of me. - 5.1/10

44. Tsumugi Shirogane - GREAT VA but, I kinda don't know what to think about her. - 5.1/10

Neutral:

45. Yasuhiro Hagakure - A bit of a silly-billy, I dunno how he survived. He's closer to like than dislike tho. 5/10

46. Kirumi Tojo - She has the same VA as Hiyoko. HOW. Anyways, talented VA, cool execution, wish we got to see more of her tho. 5/10

47. Monodam - Apparently not as bad at the other ones? Byakuyas VA- 5/10

Neutral-Dislike:

48. Angie Yonaga - PRETTY DESIGN, GREAT VA, still not sure about her tho tbh... 4.6/10

49. Mahiru Koizumi - Boring, annoying, complains alot tbh, had great potential which wasn't used well. - 4.4/10

50. Teruteru Hanamura - Kinda... interesting. Surprisingly humane motive. I actually prefer him to Mahiru now... 4.3/10 (changed to 4.5/10)

Dislike:

51. Miu Iruma - There's alot to say about this girl... uh... 4.2/10

52. Hiyoko Saionji - Insufferable. I hate her, WHINY AND ANNOYING, I skipped all her dialogue. 3/10

53. Hifumi Yamada - I hate him, but I put him in this category bc why not. Skipped all of his dialogue, he annoyed me so much. I ignored him. He killed Taka for no reason. 2.5/10 because he was helpful in one trial.

HATE:

All the Monokubs, except I forgot their names. Incest weirdos, no point in the whole thing. 2/10

Watching a playthrough of v3 and they just got to ryoma's body discovery and were talking about how none of the characters reacted with immediate grief to Ryoma's death and were all instead thinking about how to survive the trial, and that this cast has like no friendships (as of ch2) and everyone is a bit self centered.

and while im still not so sure I agree at all with the very last part, everything else left me with a bad feeling in my stomach for a while. but after thinking about it.. I realized yeah. One of the reasons I originally liked the v3 cast over the second game's cast as a unit was because everybody wasn't immediately friends with each other but instead were suspicious and paranoid. And I'd just forgotten that in all the fluffy fancontent and "everyone is friends with each other!!" headcanons that Ive surround myself with for the past while.

I feel like the first game does it best with how relationships progress, from mostly strangers in the first chapter to deeper and weirder relationships the further you go (thinking mainly of sakura and aoi, kyoko and makoto, and byakuya and toko), even in the second chapter. But also the third game spent its first chapter setting things up for the kaede twist, so in many ways i feel like it had to start from scratch in the second chapter. And training trio is so wonderful to me but no one else really gets close and have major plot focus in ways that aren't complicated by some level of manipulation. And I don't know how to feel about that.

But also. I mean I will jump to defend v3 and its cast but I just feel bad about ryoma. I never really noticed before that no one fully reacted in grief to his death. Surprise and horror maybe, but nothing for ryoma as a person. I can't stop thinking about it because it just doesn't seem in character for the versions of shuichi or gonta or kiibo or im sure others that i have in my head to just not care at all about him in this context. And i'm thinking ahead to the end of the trial and can't even remember much time spent dwelling on the loss of ryoma.

I think about this scene, this line, a lot. Because as the later parts of the manga increasingly question whether using the Getter is worth the risk, whether humanity's survival justifies any action taken to preserving it-- up to and including universal domination and the eradication of countless other races-- this is meant to be the counterpoint. That it's not necessarily that mankind is inherently worth more than any other species, but rather that we, as individuals, cannot stand idly by and watch the people we care about get killed when we can do something. That's the driving motivation for why the Getter Team fights.

Ryoma was ready to leave the Getter behind because he wanted to protect mankind from the danger it posed, but it was also that same desire to protect that lead him to get back into the cockpit anyway, to protect the people at the Saotome lab from the Andromeda. Believing in Getter despite his misgivings, because he knew it was the only way to save them.

And it's so cruel. Because even getting back into Shin Getter, everyone in the lab ended up dying anyway. Not because of the enemy. But because of the Getter itself.

It's no wonder that Ryoma left after this.

Quick reply to that other anon regarding Ryoma that I think they fail to realize is:

Story telling conventions used in the way they were in regards to his character (especially if you played his free-time events) it would have actually made more sense for him to be a survivor rather than a victim based on the growth of his character in what little time we get with him.

Ryoma is canonically the shortest character in the series standing at 3'5". He's canonically a little person, a group of people who already get bad rep in media on the daily with most of it being fantasy creatures or being the butt of the joke.

His appearance in comparison to the rest of his classmates is not conventionally attractive. There hasn't been a single instance in this series where the "joke" designed character survives.

The amount of trauma he's suffered (particularly the implication of what happened during his stay in prison) is completely ignored or often made the butt of the joke.

When fans say Ryoma was massacred, we mean it in the sense that he, like many characters before him, is a minority whose development was ended in a cruel, disgusting manner that highlights the some of the worst part of the writing of the series.

When fans say Ryoma was massacred, we mean that he was treated like a joke, and then quickly forgotten about by the narrative. His story, in the end, was absolutely meaningless. You could remove chapter two or replace the victim and killer with a chair and a lamp and you still wouldn't lose much.

When fans say Ryoma was massacred, we mean that he was treated with malicious, disgusting intent like every other nonconventionally attractive anime character in the series. Like every other character who is BIPOC, queer, disabled, or some combination there of in fiction in general.

Okay since our last talk about Hifumi and Sayaka, which victim and killers you would change in cases?

Oh, you don't want to know. There's a bunch of different options that I think it'd work better, but lets stick to the ones that wouldn't effect the plot too much.

Impostor/Peko and Teruteru/Mahiru works better than the canon options, I feel.

Miu/Ryoma and Gonta/Kirumi. (I have so many problems with how Ryoma's arc was handled. Worst portrayal of depression I've ever seen aside, it it completely at odds with V3's themes.)

2-4 as a case does not work, and is only carried by Nagito. Some victim/blacked duos that'd work better would be Sonia/Akane, Sonia/Gundam, and Kazuichi/Gundam. Honestly you could switch them around and have it work. I feel like Nekomaru not being a survivor hurts Nagito's character arc as a whole, doubly so since Nekomaru willingly gave himself up.

Kazuichi works better than Ibuki for 2-3, due to fitting Mikan and Hiyoko's deal way better. (could also start a character arc for Sonia) It'd also let one of the Twilight Syndrome Girls survive.

Either Tenko and Angie would have been better survivors than Himiko, but I think thats a popular opinion. This might be a controversial opinion, but I actually DON'T think Hiro should have died in 1-3. I think he could have worked as any role, the problem is Kodaka didn't develop him after 1-3. He learned nothing.

Gonta doesn't mean to hurt anyone, but. He's stronger than he thinks and Himiko was freaking out since to her, he might as well have been the killer, she hasn't seen anyone else out and about either so she'd try to get away from him

so it'd be just like knocking out Shuichi in canon, except, well.

Sini: Maybe keep the idea of Gonta killing Himiko and Kaede killing Gonta, and then have Rantaro die because he broke the rules in some way? You could pull a Mukuro on him

I got another idea too, what if Rantaro kills Kaede if you were to use the card key motive again, what if he gets ahold of it, frustrated just like others with Angie insisting they just don't use it and stay there forever when it could be an exit or used to reveal mastermind's identity, so he steals it from her and finds out about the end of the world, so he snaps, "we should have died with everyone" kind of thing, Kaede is the easiest target to start with (if Himiko is already out) since she's weaker than him and trusting (unlike Ouma)

Sini: What if….You mixed the two? Like, Kaede is the one in Rantaro’s place, whose character throughout the game has been kind of regressing as time has gone on. Growing more pessimistic and untrusting. She would also be eager to know if the key could reveal the mastermind’s identity in any way, since she’s been looking for them since day one and growing more paranoid and bitter about it. Once the key card motive is revealed, she steals it from Angie and parallels Gonta in that she believes the others should all die. She could still kill Gonta because she finds him suspicious, and if he’s not, then he’s actually a pretty easy target to lure. She also might want to kill him because she believes it’s what he deserves after what he did (in that case, the character regression would be very real). Or, she could go full Gonta, and believe killing Gonta is best because he was the nicest of the group and has already gone through sm pain that he deserves to die first/not through execution. I feel like Kaede would definitely be the type to take the burden of living if she had to

having more time in the game Kaede's whole preaching cooperation and trust would slowly crumble away, seeing how in canon she was trying to reassure herself as much as the others at the start and failed to, coming to conclusion that she needs to do something herself, that Shuichi's plan is not enough, that she's not going to hope Kaito's group comes up with something. Here she had time to simmer in it and get so much worse

and I'd love to see that, let her run out of positive things to say, hang outs to distract herself with, mantras to fall asleep to and hopes that all of that was a bad dream. She can't keep waiting for something to happen and then the next thing that happens is another murder instead of the awaited rescue, to get out she is going to make it happen

guess, she was wrong when she got there, maybe you can't trust people, maybe they're all out for blood, maybe somebody else is already planning her demise

Sini: Yeah…. And there’s no point. The world is destroyed There’s no home to go back to She might as well take a chance at killing the one person she can suspect as the mastermind

she regressed so far that she reached the pg Kaede mindset, no faith in humanity, they're all capable of murder, perhaps they're there because they deserve it

Sini: YES! If even Gonta can kill…Nobody is safe. Nobody can be trusted She kills him with the poisonous bug, but the others wouldn’t know that until ways into the trial. They might think it’s classic poison. Calling back to canon chapter 4 with the poison left on the seat. Both are diversions

if they all die, then there will be no more humanity, no more cruelty, betrayal after betrayal, it'll be over

Sini: Imagine for a moment Kaito is framed, again? Cause he’s the ultimate detective, the poison might’ve came from his lab

Sini: Also, this would hurt Kokichi sm. He’s already been questioning himself with the reveal of Gonta being the second culprit. He’s alive and he doesn’t know if he can even look at him anymore… His feelings on the matter conflicting with one another. And then to later find that he’s dead? O O F

framing Kaito is a good idea, but also what if she staged it as a suicide, really take Kokichi out of investigation with a gut punch imagine he said some shit to Gonta after the 3rd trial he'd blame himself

Sini: So I was thinking with this that maybe Rantaro doesn’t vote for Kaede in chapter 4 because if the world is really destroyed, then his sisters (if still lost in this au) are most certainly dead. However, I don’t think he would do that unless he was 100% certain that the world was destroyed. He’d have to see it for himself to truly believe, as he has his doubts on the legitimacy of all this. So what if in chapter 5, if they all see the outside world and later become depressed, TW Rantaro actually commits to killing himself? He’d do it in front of everyone so that there is no case to solve. The guilt and grief he’d feel….He’d see no point in living anymore. He might even feel guilty for not being able to be useful in preventing the murders or doing more to uncover the truth. He’d consider himself a failure in every way. Maybe he does so through breaking another rule? Again, typical Mukuro, but just done on purpose

Sini: IT DOES But man, that just reminds me how sad Gonta killing Himiko is If you make it where just Korekiyo is the culprit, maybe have him kill Himiko instead. That way we can have the Tenmiko angst, just reverse. Also, we’d get Tsumugi as a survivor, which I think has potential. Let Tsumugi have a character arc!

that would made ch4 weaker, but ig that would mean Himiko getting Angie'd since he only had a motive to kill Tsumugi?

Ves: i think maybe. do something to make gonta think of it as his fault even if he didn't directly off someone

then he'd get executed cause monokuma wouldn't have anyone else to execute? Like Celeste?

Ves: there wasn't the first come first serve rule in that game though "Rule #15: If two different murders by different murderers occur at the same time, only the one whose victim was found first will be the blackened." do i have to HIDE kiyo then?? what vague wording

and in ndrv3, Monokuma only introduced the rule in ch3, knowing what happened to sow distrust but Gonta wouldn't want to get away with murder, so he wouldn't hide the body

Ves: but i also wanted to have more survivors :[

Sini: Mind you, Kokichi can still have that moment to himself cause Shuichi exists. But Gonta being a killer could do wonders for his character as well. If you have it where Kiyo kills Himiko and Gonta kills Kiyo, then it’s very likely Gonta could still get executed cause he’s the only culprit left alive.

then stick the the og idea, you can save Rantaro instead of Tsumugi

Ves: so like. himiko runs away from the crime scene, gonta tries to catch her, breaks her spine like a rabbit at the vet?

nothing's going to have the same impact, this is good because it's Gonta and she isn't even the culprit and he doesn't get executed

this is what hits the spot for character arcs for Tenko, Kokichi and Kaede (her last fucking nail) and anything else would be softening the blow, that's no what DR is about, hit them with the hammers

Ves: you're right and i hate it ○|￣|_ kokichi doesn't make up with gonta bc of his own pride and then gonta FUCKING DIES, and that feeds nicely into his forgiveness for shuuichi…i see the vision

and to finish it off, my take on the Themes in the AU:

what an interesting theme for the entire season it paints, the power struggle, having people who try to define and control you, use you for entertainment vs the abused, overcoming, getting from under the shoe SWINGING, finding ways to be their own person. Tenko's crisis would fit in nicely, and have parallels with Kaede's arc downwards. They both start as leader types that might come over a little bit too strong, Tenko loses faith in herself, Kaede loses faith in people, Tenko gives up on leading and falls in step with others, Kaede gives up on others and starts acting on her own, behind their backs. Kaede wants to make the decision for everyone that life's no longer worth it. Angie wants to decide what's best for everyone. Kaito wants to decide their lives, treating them like puppets. But their lives are their own. And true leadership is guidance, not force. Shuichi is the tragic example, showing how important having community is to be able to stand a chance against abusive authority. well, for M1-U it might be more dying on her own terms at best, would be cool if she self-destructed after getting hauled-off to the execution of found a way to make the execution go differently than Monokuma intended

Sini: Shuichi had access to community but couldn't truly be a part of it due to how Kaito controlled him. You could maybe contrast that with Kokichi who goes through a positive arc of letting people in and teaming up with others more. Him representing what a good leader could look like

it was too little, too late for Shuichi

Sini: OOOOO! YEAH! That's perfect! She died doing her own thing and by her own hands OH SHIT! That's actually really poetic. Cause in canon, Kaito is the one who died on his own and not by Monokuma's hands. Now he's the villain who got beat by his own alternative actions

I can see Ryoma and Korekiyo surviving to the end of V3, learning everything is fake, and leaving, feeling conflicted. Ryoma's glad he didn't do his crimes, but also feels like since the people he killed to avenge were fictional, in that world, it's for nothing. The same would be for Korekiyo, having realised how wrong he was to do what he did, but still feeling guilt he did those crimes in the fictional world. I can see them staying in touch after everything to check in on each other now and then.

I don't ever really see them paired up or interacting much in fics, so this is a really interesting take to me! I agree though that they would be so relieved, especially Ryoma. Imagine being in his place, thinking you have nothing, only to learn that that was fake and he did have people who cared about him, but still feeling the guilt of what he thought was real. Same goes for Kiyo!

And I agree they'd keep in touch given the...somewhat similar(?) situations, probably get closer than they ever were in the game even though their correspondences are sporadic

EHEHE MY BABY!!!!!!!!! :DD THANK YOU!! Of course my fav character of all time, like really :3 right up there with Chiaki eheh.

Favorite thing about them: Basically everything!! He's such a complex and interesting character, I feel like there's soooo much to him, he's so cool to get to know more of, and his character alone gives me the opportunity to explore a lot of deep interesting topics and seeing things more grey rather than black and white. Besides, he's not perfect, and even though I love him, I found myself disagreeing with him a lot, which is seriously so amazing, I love flawed characters which make them more relatable and human!! Now more into Kaito himself, LIKE HE'S SO BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING, LIKE HE ACTUALLY ALWAYS CARED ABOUT EVERYONE AND WANTED EVERYONE TO SURVIVE AND FOLLOW THEIR DREAMS AND BE HAPPY! He hides himself bc he's scared to be seen as weak, but also bc he's scared of not being relied on, and if nobody relies on him he can't help anyone. He always puts others above himself even if he appears a bit cocky sometimes, he shows to be very insecure deep down, when he said "you fell for a guy like me" I literally CRIED, he deserves so much love. When I first saw him I thought he was a bit out there, and his design was not my thing, apart from the space design on the jacket, but now he's like super hot, everything about his design is beautiful bc it's so unique of him and I love him, even that stupid goatee I wanna touch it so badly AHHHH Kaito with his hair down also >>>>>> -

Least favorite thing about them: Like I said Kaito is not perfect, and what I dislike about him has got to be how he treated Ryoma. I wish they had gotten a better treatment like in the manga we get to see how Kaito really feels about Ryoma and Ryoma would also surely appreciate that support. But in the game, Kaito was very insensitive for sure, I consider that there's more deep down besides the idol thing, like, everybody forgets that Kaito was already dying by that point and he knew that. Him seeing his idol giving up on life when Kaito thinks he has a "choice" (it's not a matter of choice, but following Kaito's train of thought here) but Kaito himself does not have a choice, he has so many dreams but he knows he's dying and I feel like that must have had some impact on why he treated Ryoma like that, relating again, with the fact Ryoma was his idol, someone whom he admired to follow his own dreams, so I know it must be heartbreaking for Kaito, but it was still very insensitive, and I really wish they at least had some better interactions in UTDP, bc I really think these two deserved to be on better terms. -

Favorite line: J-Just one???? Nah, that's illegal. Here have a bunch of lines: 1. "Being able to share your burdens with others… that's how you get stronger" 2. "Hey! Were you guys making out while I was gone?!" 3. "Hey! Who you calling NPC, you A-S-S!?" 4. "If you want to give up, wait until you've done everything you possibly can!" 5. "The impossible is possible! All you gotta do is make it so!" 6. "No matter how many times we fight, we smile in the end... that's what true friendship is!" 7. "Sometimes you gotta be a little reckless to make your dreams a reality!" 8. "That could have been anyone walking around in women's underwear! Even me!" 9. "That's because, limits don't exist unless you set them yourself" 10. "I believe in you." -

BrOTP: With Himiko!! Not actually related, they are best friends! I had made a "understand my friendship" in 5 minutes post where I showed a bit their dynamic. Kaito sending Himiko very cute memes and images, while Himiko sending cursed things just to scare Kaito, but in a lighthearted way! Kaito actually believed in Himiko's magic or at least on how she wants to make people smile with her magic and I'm sure he'd help her believe in herself more. Also Kaito would totally give Himiko piggyback rides when she's tired!!! Another BrOTP is with Kazuichi! They'd be such good bros! Ahh I wish they had interacted at some point, they'd totally bond! I love how some people made comics showing how Kaito would help Kazuichi get over Sonia, move on and become someone he can be proud of, learning to love himself and chase his passions. Also how Kazuichi would talk about rockets with Kaito, I love them so much!! -

OTP: SAIMOTA IS LOVE, SAIMOTA IS LIFE!! They support, admire, love, care, never judge one another. They are so sweet and so cute and adorable and they are also so gay, like... I could be here talking about them forever (I was, but CHARACTER LIMIT ON TUMBLR SOMEHOW??) Anyway, they fit so many themes and aesthetics, like, Saimota is literally SEASONS, like, spring, summer, autumn, winter!! They also fit so well either cottage core or even like city streets, neon lights, parties, they are perfect in every way. They hold hands to comfort each other. They switch their roles a lot, always support each other equally and communication is really their strength!! They already went through that development in the game, and it's perfect. Anyway, special other OTP mentions: Training Trio, Oumota, Amamota, Akamota, Momoharu, Gokumota, Cyberspace and basically yeah, any ship with Kaito is great. -

NOTP: With Junko. Keep her away from my boy. I saw some people make some headcanons of them interacting, no, no no no no NO. My boy deserves love and happiness! -

Random headcanon: Kaito never met his dad and his mom left him, so that's why he grew up with his grandparents. He was always dreaming and studying so he was actually a very lonely kid, but he'd always be happy and smiling bc he wanted to make his dreams come true! Also all of Kaito's clothes have some sort of space design or space related thing about them bc I say so. -

Unpopular opinion: Kaito is not homophobic or misogynistic. He has toxic masculinity traits, but he always respects women, he may have made some sexist comments, but it was never out of hate for women or for seeing them as less than men?? Kaito didn't see Maki as weak because she was a girl, he invited her to the meeting of who would fight Monokuma in ch.1, he also invited a bunch of other girls, he clearly respected their strength. Even if he says "a man shouldn't apologise so easily" Kaito does apologise when he needs to and he also says that to Kaede, he tells her to not apologise for something that's not her fault, clearly showing how he doesn't treat women differently. And he's not homophobic just because of a very misplaced word that came out of nowhere and didnt' mean anything for anything at anything in the story, characters, dynamics, relationships, plot, nothing. It was put there by the writers for nothing, it has no relation to Kaito's character at all, there's no other evidence of him being "homophobic", he's not homophobic!!! He may have some traditional views, and Kaito is stubborn about a lot of things, but he cares about others and I'm sure if they'd teach him more about it, he'd try his best to respect it, bc he can see the good in people deep down and that's always what he cares about the most! - Another unpopular opinion is that PG Kaito is not a bully, he's pretty chill actually, I consider him intimidating, but not physically violent!! I hate how everyone just decided to make him a bully to find an excuse to hate on Kaito. Kaito doesn't even have a canon sad face PG sprite in the wiki, for me he's even more chill than IG Kaito, he's just protective over the ones he loves. He'd NOT bully Kokichi or Shuichi, instead he'd be stepping in to protect them!! -

(Glad to be back!!!)

Jakob was floundering all day. He was sure he’d be bald by the end of the pregnancy. There were so many tips and tricks that he had learned to help ease your struggles as they came week by week.

But now that you were at the mercy of the midwives, the poor butler-turned-duke had nothing to do but wait.

He had sent word to your family hours ago; they were caught in a skirmish that wouldn’t see them at the delivery room until they could make a way out.

So he was left alone, stooped over in his seat with his elbows on his knees, trying desperately not to panic. Every time the doors opened to retrieve supplies or inform him of your status, he could hear you crying out. It grated on his ears, tearing his heart to pieces.

Flora and Felicia both assured him that you were doing well, and that there wasn’t a thing to worry about. They said that, and yet he could hear full well that you were most certainly not doing well.

What was he supposed to make of that contradiction?!

“Jakob!!”

Elise’s high-pitched voice broke through the heart pounding in his ears, and he looked up to find a gaggle of Nohrian and Hoshidan royals hurrying up to the end of the corridor. They all looked like a mixture of worried and excited, some of them with their own children trailing behind them with curious eyes.

“Jakob, how is she?” Xander asked first, “Is the little princess faring well?”

“Flora informed me she was almost ready to push, about an hour ago. The room itself is sound-proofed, so I can’t hear much unless one of them comes out. Since she told me that much, I haven’t heard anything else.”

“I see. Very well, then.” Xander looked to Ryoma, who seemed at least slightly less worried than his Nohrian counterpart. He put a hand on Jakob’s shoulder, “Don’t worry. I’m sure she’ll be all right.”

“Ugh, Brother, how can you be so blase about this? Your sister is in the fight of her life in there!”

“I don’t mean to minimize,” He replied quickly to Camilla’s borderline growling at him. “But she’s a lot stronger than we give her credit for. If anyone can handle this smoothly, it’s her.”

“Spoken like a man who’ll never feel the pains of childbirth.” Hinoka pinched the bridge of her nose, “Delivering a baby brings even the strongest of women to their knees! It’s not a matter of if she’ll be able to handle it smoothly, it’s a matter of if she’ll survive it, and if she does, if there’ll be any lifelong consequences!”

Xander flinched at the fiery princess’ tone, glancing to the princes beside him. Takumi and Leo both held their hands up, staying out of the fight. He shook his head, hands up in surrender.

“Forgive me, it wasn’t my intention to demean what Corrin is going through. I meant only to comfort our brother.”

Jakob gave him a small nod of thanks, and they settled uncomfortably in front of the doors. Jakob, impatient and anxious, resumed his urgent movements back and forth.

“I almost…I almost wish I were not married to her in this moment.”

“Come again?” Leo snapped at him, and Jakob shook his head, running a hand through his hair.

“If I were not her husband I would be permitted into the room- I could help with the delivery. At the very least I would be able to go in to reassure her!”

“I do not think you would be so willing to deliver a baby that your wife has with another man, Jakob.” Takumi said, but it fell on deaf ears. Jakob was clearly desperate.

It was hard for anyone to see their wife suffering through such pain, but for someone who had been saved by you, someone who stood by your side even when everyone else had abandoned you… To not be able to do the same for you in such a time of need was destroying him.

“I would do whatever I must to help Corrin. I just…need to be with her.”

“Of course you do.” Camilla sighed, standing from her seat to put her arm around his shoulders. She took him back to the seating, gently encouraging him to join the rest of them. Being able to really look at him, it was obvious that he was struggling much worse than he’d initially let on.

Between the pale face, light stubble and the combination of a messy cravat and flyaway strands of hair, it was clear the man was in a poor state.

“I wish we could be in there with her, too. But we should trust the clerics that they’re taking care of both Corrin and your future child. If something bad were to happen, I’m sure they’d ask for both you and our younger sisters, seeing as you’re all healers. Consider it a good sign that it hasn’t happened.”

“Yes…” He nodded, though he seemed the furthest thing from convinced.

They all banded together in t heir anxiety, trying to keep one another calm as the anxiety and excitement boiled their blood. Thankfully, the gods would smile upon them and give them some grace.

It would be another three agonizing hours before their fortune changed. But eventually, at last, the doors were pushed open.

“The delivery was successful! Mother and child are both-”

“Corrin!!”

“-Fine…?”

They all stared in shock as Jakob immediately pushed past the head cleric, making a break for the bed. The royals opted not to follow suit; it was clear he needed to be with you more than anyone else, in that moment.

“They’re both fine?” Xander repeated, the lot of them standing to address the cleric. She nodded, giving a kind smile.

“The princess has given birth to a beautiful baby boy. They are both resting, now.”

“A boy!” Leo grinned, poking Takumi’s shoulder, “Looks like you lost the bet!”

“Who cares? We’ve got a nephew!”

Hinoka glanced over at the smug Camilla, rolling her eyes and muttering something about paying her later.

Elise and Sakura were bouncing excitedly, cheering for the arrival of the newborn boy. The spirits were high outside the delivery room, and it was no different inside.

Jakob was instantly beside you, kneeling next to the bed. One hand was on your shoulder, the other cupping your cheek as he worriedly looked you over.

“Milady…my love, are you well? How do you feel?” He blurted the questions out in quick succession, doing his own medical inspection to ensure the nurses hadn’t missed anything. He had half a mind to cast a Mend spell over you just in case, but you appeared to be just fine.

“I am well.” You promised him, though you sounded alarmingly breathless. You leaned into his hand, “Have you seen the little prince, yet?”

Jakob’s heart suddenly lodged into his throat. That’s right; there was a new life in the world. One he brought with his wife. And the baby was right there.

“N-no, I haven’t…where is he?” Jakob rose to his feet, though his hand lingered on your arm. “Is he all right?”

“They were cleaning him up, but…it seems they’re done.” You tilted your chin towards the side of the room, where a huddle of clerics were fawning over something atop the medical table.

Judging by the swathe of blankets Jakob could see between them, his baby was over there. He looked back at you, finding a hopeful smile on your lips.

“Could you…could you bring him over to me?”

“O-oh. Of course, just…just a moment.” He stumbled over himself, the worry of your labor finally giving way to the realization that he was about to meet his son for the very first time.

Jakob stepped over to the clerics, leaving your side.

“Pardon me, but…the princess would like to see her son.” He said softly, drawing the joyful attention of the midwife.

“As you wish, milord. Let us fetch your son. Ladies,” She parted the group of women, who had just finished clearing away the cleaning mess so that the baby was happily swaddled in his temporary bassinet.

She lifted up the bundle from the bedding, and turned back to him to reveal the sweet baby to his father.

“Congratulations, my lord. He is a very handsome young man.”

“Hah,” It knocked the wind out of him.

There he was; a tuft of silver hair, pin-pricked ears, and a little button nose. That was definitely his and your baby- no doubt about it.

“A handsome young man, indeed.”

Jakob opened his arms to receive him, delicately taking the babe into his arms. Immediately the boy squeaked, as if registering there was a brand new warmth that had him, now.

He gently touched the baby’s forehead, holding him as close as possible.

“Hello, son.”

Bright red eyes suddenly flickered open. He knew that voice.

Jakob couldn’t contain the tears that slipped down, realizing his baby knew who he was. It seemed your insistence on speaking to the baby before he was even born wasn’t such a bad idea.

“Good morning, little one…we’re so happy you’re here.” He couldn’t contain his smile, utterly unaware of the others in the room besides himself and his child…and, of course, the mother excitedly waiting to see her baby boy for the first time, too.

“Shall we go see Mother?”

He carefully walked back to the bed, smiling at his dear wife who couldn’t tear her eyes away from the bundle in his arms.

“Is he okay?”

“He’s wonderful.” He replied in earnest, “The picture of health, and beauty, and everything we could have possibly hoped for.”

It was not much longer before he was placed in your arms, at last. If Jakob hadn’t been crying before, he certainly was now; you weren’t faring any better.

You were brimming with them the second that baby boy came into your arms. He was pressed to your chest, lying on top of you and snoozing away without a care in the world.

“My baby…this is…t-this is my- our- little baby boy…!” You hiccuped, hugging him close. You cradled his head with your whole hand, the little fellow so delicate and small he could have been easily missed.

But you weren’t letting such a darling creature out of your sight.

“Do you think…the name we picked before will suit him?” You sniffled softly, and Jakob brought a hand to your face, gently wiping the tears away. He knelt beside you again, resting his head against your arm and gently petting the baby’s feather-soft heair.

“Yes…I think it will suit him perfectly. Prince Dwyer.”

“Dwyer…it’s so cute.” You giggled, “You hear that, Dwyer? You’re the newest member of our family.”

“A growing family, at that.” Jakob added as he looked to the doors, spotting the doors cracked open and the faces of nearly a dozen siblings all waiting to come and see their newest nephew. “Shall we let them visit him?”

“Not yet.” You shook your head, “We’ve only had him for a little while, can’t we admire him between us for a bit longer?”

“As you wish.” He kissed your forehead as he rose, “I’ll let them know that all is well.”

“Hurry back.” You called to him as he walked away. The sweet man couldn’t stop the surge of joy that was filling him up; he really had it, after the life he’d lived. The life he struggled through, and the suffering you’d experienced with him.

It was all worth it, to have finally become a family together.

One that would surely grow in no time, once Dwyer was old enough to toddle about and follow his father around like a gray duckling. It was about that time when you decided it was time to introduce one more silver dragonlet into the family. But for now, all you needed was right there, in your arms.

I wanna get this brain idea out and this ask is like loosely related to it so I'm gonna info dump here

I've had so many thoughts about an au where Ryoma ends up surviving and ends up seeing Gonta's execution-

Like leading up to this- it all starts when Ryoma is starting to head to his lab after seeing his motive video- he's broken because of what he saw in it. But before he gets to his lab Gonta ends up spotting him and takes him to his own lab after seeing how depressed he looks...

The two of them bond as Gonta tries to find ways to get Ryoma to cheer up. It results in Gonta sticking by Ryoma's side and Ryoma just letting it happen because: "Tch, there's no point in telling him to buzz off." and after a bit... Ryoma starts to get attached as Gonta tries to bring purpose into his life again. Gonta becomes one of the reasons he wants to live...

In chapter 4 you know what happens... Ryoma is fucking distraught, he's not like- visibly breaking down but his head definitely isn't in the right space, his reason to live left as soon as it came. As Gonta is sent to his execution he urges Ryoma to live for him and not give up, that he can still help everyone escape even if Gonta is not there...

I dunno I think about it so much,,, angst potential is insane methinks- there should be more goshi angst... if only I were good at writing or something........

Ryoma would never love again after losing Mio.

This is what he told himself before shit somehow hit the fan even harder than it had before. Assuming it had, anyway. He still had no way of knowing if what Tsumugi said was actually the truth. Perhaps his entry into her killing school life truly was the beginning of shit hitting the fan, and he’d actually lived a fairly normal existence before that… well, as normal as you could get, being obsessed with a reality TV show where contestants lose all sense of self and get murdered for the amusement of their peers. He still shivers when he thinks about the kind of person he might have been. There is still no way of knowing, but he can’t seem to stop his mind from drifting there from time to time. Kaede is constantly reminding him that he shouldn’t.

Kaede… He would never love after Mio, but then, out of nowhere in the darkest times of an especially dark life, there was Kaede.

From the moment they met, she flooded his being with pep and optimism. Confident, plucky, and incredibly friendly, she never struck him as the kind of girl that he would go after. A man who had nothing to live for had little to say to a girl who seemed to believe in the beauty of the world around her. He couldn’t relate to her insistence that they should try to be friends, that everything was not as bad as it seemed, and that they should try one last time to escape. His first impression of her was that she was simply exhausting. He had no idea how anyone could afford to have that much energy, especially in a place that was determined to crush them. Even when they lost their first classmate, a cool and stoic girl named Maki, Kaede kept her head up. She encouraged everyone to keep working together to solve the mystery of their killing school life and get home safe. No matter how many times they stumbled, she was always there, begging her classmates to just try things one more time.

Perhaps that was what he came to like about her, in the end. She was always a glass half-full kind of person. It applied to every part of her life. He imagines that’s why, in the end, she could come to love someone like him, too. He could think himself a beast, yet she would look at him as if he painted puffy white clouds in the sky just to fascinate her. A killing game was the last place he anticipated surviving, let alone finding love, so the experience was more than a little odd to him… but in the end, they were two of three who survived it all, who came out the other end when Tsumugi made every possible attempt to crush them. And, in the end, it was the two of them against the world – well, the two of them and Gonta, anyway.

It had been three months since their release from the Killing School Life, and the three of them had holed themselves up in a dingy two-bedroom apartment, trying to figure out where to go next. It was cramped and smelled a bit like feet, but it still felt like freedom in comparison to the enclosed dome of the Gifted Inmates Academy. It was warm, dry, and they could come and go as they pleased, so Ryoma saw no reason for complaining. He did his best to keep things clean where he could, and Kaede and Gonta had taken to decorating it where they could. After all, Gonta’s gentlemanly sensibilities connected well with Kaede’s thoughtful tastes, so they found that the two of them worked well together as a home furnishing team. If they needed someone to fix a leak in the piping of the sink, though, that was all Ryoma. It wasn’t much, but it was home, and they would happily work together to make it more of something.

Some days, it was harder to do that than others.

The sorrows of their unknown pasts and unforeseeable futures had a habit of grating on them, making it damn near impossible to accomplish anything. If one of them was overtaken by a dark cloud, a faint reminder of what they lost or a flickering memory of one of their dead classmates; it was over. They could be out of commission for days or even weeks. The other two, whoever they were, would take care of them – they were all they had, of course they would – but it would be hard to keep up morale. It is crushing enough for one of them to be experiencing that pain, but when the others can see and understand it so blatantly, it only gets worse. Ryoma is ashamed to admit that it is him most times it happens. He hates being a burden on Kaede and Gonta, but he knows he cannot control the weight of his emotions, no matter how desperately he wants to. It is hard, knowing how much of a burden he is placing on his friends, and even more so on Kaede, who more often than not is the person who keeps up a smile. She never seems to falter quite like he does, and he wishes he could be more like her. Hell, he wishes he could care for her like she cares for him.

Would she let him if the situation arose, he wonders? She’s never cried or refused food or lost sleep the same way he and Gonta have. Or, if she has, she’s never said a word about it. He hopes that that’s not the case. She deserves to be comforted just as much as anyone, if not more. But does he have an inflated perception of how much she needs him? It is difficult to say, but on their next day alone, he finds himself learning the truth of what she hides behind that glass half-full.

It is just the two of them. Gonta has gone out on some expedition in search of bugs, so the newly dating couple decides that they will have a nice night in, just the two of them. Neither of them is prepared to go running out into the world for a fancy meal or some lavish date. It seems like a no-brainer that they decide to spend their time together making a meal instead. After all, it adds another layer to their bonding… as does the thirty minutes it takes them to pick out what they are going to eat. Ryoma and Kaede are more similar than anticipated in many ways, but when it comes to food, the differences definitely start to show. The two of them go back and forth on ideas – Ryoma suggests Western and Kaede wants Japanese. Ryoma thinks the meal should feature more carbs like rice and pasta, but Kaede wants it to have more meat and veggies. Ryoma wants something with a bit of spice, but Kaede doesn’t want any at all. Finally they are able to settle on a classic: curry rice with a side of eggplant dengaku. Kaede initially suggests that they try to make the curry rice with the eggplant, but Ryoma has never tried the flavour before, so they decide to stick with the regular meat to keep things comfortable. All things considered, it’s quite fun to get to work on a meal together as a couple. Most of the time, everyone in the apartment takes turns cooking for each other. Kaede and Ryoma have scarcely had the opportunity to interact in the kitchen.

“How’s that rice comin’, Ryoma?” Kaede asks, lifting her tasting spoon out of the pot of curry sauce. She slips it into her mouth so delicately that Ryoma can’t help but watch. How is everything she does so perfect? Her eyelashes flutter a little as she savours the taste, and when she pulls it out, she grins.

“It’s rice,” he replies, “Hard to mess up.”

She giggles – a cute, short little thing, yet one he loves nonetheless. Kaede has a great laugh. It’s musical, ironically enough. Still, he can’t help but notice that it doesn’t seem completely there today. It’s not necessarily gone, but it almost sounds a little more forced. Normally, it comes as easy to her as blinking or breathing. “I guess you’re right about that. The curry’s coming along as well.”

Is she hiding something? It seems like the wrong time to ask. Even if he does, she might just brush him off, not wanting to ruin their evening together. Everyone in the group has had their dark hours, but Kaede has always seemed content to push hers away. Maybe this is another one of those times. He’ll just take things slow for now, see what else he can get out of her. For all he knows, the laugh could have been a fluke. She’s been a mellow cheerful all day otherwise.

“Do you think it will be ready soon?”

She shrugs, not stopping to meet his eyes. “Maybe… I think I’d give it a few more minutes, just to be safe. Make sure we really lock in that flavour.”

He doesn’t say anything back, just nods. He shifts attention instead to the eggplant dengaku. While the dish is traditionally grilled, their access to something like that is lacking, so they’ve used a combination of a skillet and broiler to get the effect. It should be just as smoky as one cooked the traditional way, anyway. He slips on some oven mitts and pulls it out with relative ease, inhaling the earthy scent. “Eggplants are looking good, too. Can you pass the miso sauce?”

Ryoma reaches over to grab a pair of tongs, too engrossed in his soon-to-be examination at first that he doesn’t notice when he can’t hear the clink of the miso bowl beside him. When he first starts looking, he just assumes that Kaede will be ready in a minute. Then, a few more seconds pass, and it becomes increasingly clear that she won’t be passing it. In fact, he’s not hearing anything from her section of the kitchen. When he flicks his head up to look at her, she is staring down at the pot of curry, the smile that was once on her face having disappeared. Her eyes look almost blank as she stares down, watching it bubble.

“Kaede?” He calls out again.

Instantly, she snaps to attention. The smile reappears, but her eyes don’t seem to agree with it.

“Sorry, did you say something?”

He quirks a brow at her, not sure whether he should press or just asking for the miso. The former makes the most sense, he thinks. If he wants Kaede to open up to him more, then he needs to prove to her that he is open and ready to listen. “Are you okay?”

The smile doesn’t crack, and her expression does not falter. It seems almost painted on. “Yeah, I’m fine. Why do you ask?”

“You… seem a bit distracted.”

“Oh, well,” Kaede shrugs and tucks her hair behind her ear, “It’s nothing you need to worry about. I’m just lost in my thoughts.”

Ryoma purses his lips. “It’s best not to be lost in thoughts all alone.”

She simply shakes her head and turns back to the curry pot. “Never you mind, Ryoma. I don’t want to ruin our night with my silly worries. They’ll come and go just like always.”

“You might feel better if you talked about them.”

“And you might feel better if you let this go,” she chuckles, surprisingly without even a hint of bitterness, “Seriously, Ryoma, I’m fine. Let’s just focus on making a nice dinner, okay?”

Ryoma sighs. “Whatever you say, Kaede. I just want you to know that if you need me, I’m here.”

“I know. I’ve always been able to depend on you, Ryoma. Ever since the moment we met.”

His brows furrow at those words. Nice of her to say, but not so easy for him to feel… If she’s that worried and there’s nothing he can do, is she actually being honest? Or is she just trying to placate him? He bites his lip absent-mindedly.

“... Right.”

Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Kaede frown, but she seems to decide that it is better to not try to convince him. Her attention sneaks back to their meal, and he decides that it would be better if he were just to grab the miso himself. Once in his hands, he coats the eggplants carefully, watching out of the corner of his eye as Kaede begins to scoop the rice from the pot into a duo of bowls. Nothing more is said between them as they prepare everything. It is best if things remain wordless for now. As soon as they have their food served, they make their way to the couch to sit and eat.

Even that ends up being quiet. It would be excessive to say that there is necessarily tension between the couple, yet there is a sort of pressure between them. After all, Kaede doesn’t want Ryoma to know, but all Ryoma wants to do is ask, so how are they supposed to overcome their competing desires? Is there any way to get through this situation that will leave them both satisfied? In the end, they just resort to not talking about it. Kaede steers conversation in other places instead. Should we make a bowl for Gonta, she asks. Yes, I’ll do that after I finish up here, Ryoma responds. Then there is some silence again, broken only by the sound of chewing. This eggplant is really tasty, Kaede tells him. It was Mio’s recipe, Ryoma admits. That draws the conversation on longer, but only by a few minutes. There is still nothing of true substance, just a lot of beating around the bush. This was not at all the date night that they had planned. Knowing that she was hiding from something from him, Ryoma couldn’t entirely blame her for not wanting to talk, but the constant beating around the bush served to make the conversation all too stale. Listening to tangents about the weather and the sound of chopsticks scraping against your bowl could get old fast.

In a time like this, you would think that the minutes would pass by like hours, yet it seemed that the meal went by in a flash. Before he knows it, Ryoma is done, and he is watching Kaede shovel in the last of her curry. The air between them is still relatively still and quiet, but he can see that by now, Kaede’s pleasant demeanour is beginning to falter. As she looks down at the last of her food, her mouth curves into more of a frown than it does a smile.

“All done?”

It’s a stupid question to ask, Ryoma knows, but it’s the only thing he can think of other than “are you sure you’re okay”. That, he knows, is not something he will get a proper answer to. It’s more than likely that he’ll get the same answer as before – yes, I’m fine. Or, if Kaede is getting particularly sick of the prying, he might be told to stop asking. He’s never seen her get angry about that, but he hasn’t ruled out the possibility. There are plenty of people who just hate to be asked, over and over again, if they’re fine. He would know. When it came to Mio, he used to be one of them.

Kaede nods softly, holding her hand out in expectation. He places his bowl in it carefully, muttering his thanks as she stacks it on her own and rises from her seat. His eyes flicker away as she begins to walk to the kitchen. It would be unnecessary to watch her every move, and if they’re not locked in conversation, he has no need to stare at her. Looking at her would only remind him that she’s in pain, and that he doesn’t seem to be able to do anything about it. He’s half-way through lamenting to himself about what a terrible boyfriend he is when suddenly, a quick gasp snaps him out of his thoughts. His head whips over to Kaede, and he is able to catch the exact moment that the bowls fully slip out of her grasp, falling hard and fast to the floor. Within seconds, the bowls crash against the ground, smashing into pieces of black bone china. Kaede yelps as they make contact, trying to shuffle her bare feet away from the site of the accident.

“Kaede!” Ryoma exclaims, rushing to her side to assess the damage. “Are you okay? You didn’t get cut, did you?”

Kaede doesn’t answer. She just stares down at the chunks of shattered bowls, eyes chasing each piece and splatter of leftover curry or miso. Ryoma places a hand on her lower back and peers up at her face, hoping it is just shock that has struck her silent. As soon as he sees her eyes, however, his heart sinks. In that place he has so often associated with joy, he finds only tears. They are just on the edge of her lashes, and are met with a quivering lip further below, but it will still be a few more seconds before they fall.

He darts down to look at the floor, taking care to examine the space around his girlfriend’s feet. None of the broken china seems to have scraped or cut her, with most of the pieces falling in front of her rather than around or behind her. Definitely not hurt. He is about to ask her again if she’s alright, when suddenly he hears her start to sob.

God, it’s only the first time he’s seen Kaede cry and he already hates it. Someone so kind and warm should never have to experience any pain, even over a broken plate.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” He asks in the softest voice he can muster, brows furrowing as he rubs the part of her back he can reach. “It’s okay, it’s just a couple of bowls.”

Once again, Kaede does not answer. She just keeps crying, fat tears slipping down her cheeks one after the other. It’s like she doesn’t even know Ryoma is there. That makes her crying sting worse. So much for her knowing she could always count on him. He’s practically useless to her right now. He heaves a heavy sigh, shaking his head.

It won’t do him any good to be self-deprecating. He may not be the boyfriend she deserves, but he needs to try to be. He owes her that much.

“It’s not about the bowls, is it?”

Kaede shakes her own head frantically, still whimpering like a little girl. Her hands reach up to swipe at her eyes, creating black streaks with her mascara. He makes a mental note to grab her some make-up wipes in a minute. For now, he just needs to get her comfortable, away from the scene of the crime, so the two of them can have a real talk about what’s happening here.

“Why don’t you go sit down, Kaede? I’ll clean this up, and then we can talk about what’s going on. That sound good?”

For a sliver of a moment, she hesitates, like she’s frozen in place by her tears. It is not until he repeats her name, softer and gentler, that she finds it within herself to nod and sniffle, stepping back from the bowls to let him get a better look at the ground. He wastes no time rushing to the kitchen to grab a garbage bag to put them in, only watching out of the corner of his eye for Kaede’s safe arrival to the couch. Judging by the lack of yelps of pain, he can only assume he made it unharmed.

Just like their meal, the moment between the two of them is most silent, except now what was once conversation has now become the sound of Kaede’s soft crying. Part of Ryoma almost feels guilty for wanting to ignore it, but he already feels as if he is doing that very thing – he just wishes the tears would stop. He’s not so selfish as to wish that Kaede be his happy girlfriend who always supports him and Gonta, but more that she should not have to feel that sort of pain. In the back of his mind he has always known that she is as tortured as they are by what happened. It’s just that he didn’t want her to be. He wishes it didn’t have to be so. And that’s just the problem – if she is as tortured as they are, then this is perhaps the first time she has had the courage to show it.

How close does she need to be to her breaking point for this to be the case?

Ryoma cleans up the remainders of the bowl as best he can, resolving to vacuum up any of the more minute pieces he would have missed. His focus right now, his greatest focus, is joining Kaede on the couch so they can talk about what’s happened. As he went through the process of cleaning, her sobs tempered themselves slightly, but it would be an exaggeration to say that they had been crushed entirely. Her eyes were definitely still wet and her heart still pained. When he is reunited with her, the weight of her emotions has not left her. It is still laying there inside of her, festering, but trying desperately to grasp at the solace that Ryoma is offering. Perhaps part of the pain comes from being unused to comfort when these sensations arise.

It hurts that once he finally rejoins Kaede, the first thing she tries to do is flash him a smile. It is by far the weakest from her that he has ever seen, and the fact that she even feels she needs to do this breaks his heart. What has the world done to this poor, kind woman? They have already won their battle against Tsumugi and Team Danganronpa, but a bitter part of him longs to fight them again, if only to take revenge for her. Alas, he cannot. All he can do is take her hand in his own and stroke her thumb with his, prepared to listen.

“I’m sorry for getting upset,” she whimpers, reaching up to swipe at her eyes, “I know it’s not like me to be so…”

“Don’t apologize.” He cuts in far before he can actually think to do so. “You have nothing to apologize for.”

Kaede says nothing in response, only stares gratefully at him. Why does he get the sense that it was not uncommon, in her other life, to say sorry when she was hurt? Did nobody comfort her? No, no. He shakes the thought from his mind. They must have. Kaede spoke so fondly of her family, in particular her twin sister… This must have come from somewhere else. All he can do is pray that it is not his own failure to support her that has made her feel such things.

Ryoma draws in a deep breath, trying to refocus. Don’t get away from yourself, this is about her. You say you want to take care of this woman, so put your money where your mouth is.

“I want to know what’s wrong, Kaede. You haven’t been yourself today, and I know you didn’t like those bowls enough to be upset that they’re broken.”

Kaede chuckles softly. “They were pretty ugly.”

“Like something your grandmother would own.”

She laughs again, and it’s like music to Ryoma’s ears. Nothing in this moment is perfect, but that little giggle is as close as it’s going to get. He hates that he’ll have to direct her away from this small joy to get back to the source of their problem. It might be that realization that makes him squeeze her hand.

“Now, please tell me what’s going on with you.”

That small smile, the one that felt like such a prize, quickly melts. Her expression is almost pinched, but he can tell it’s not from discontent with him. If she has such little experience expressing her emotions, then this won’t come easy. Learning to be the one person who keeps up a happy face surely took a toll on her, even if she won’t admit it. The heavy sigh expelled from her lungs only serves to confirm his theory.

“Can I… can I start by asking you something?”

Ryoma shrugs. “If it’ll help you.”

“Do you ever… do you ever feel like, I don’t know… responsible for some of the stuff that happened? Like when we were in the Killing Game?” Kaede’s eyes dart down to her lap. “I know we’ve always said that it was Tsumugi who did those things, and Team Danganronpa, but… if what they said is true, then we agreed to it, y’know? We agreed to our friends getting hurt.”

“We didn’t agree to anything,” Ryoma corrects, much more sharply than he intends to, “We didn’t have any control over the agency of the others. We chose for ourselves. We were blinded by that choice, by our passion for something like that. It didn’t seem so wrong then.”

Kaede swallows so thickly in the moment, he almost has to wonder if he’s said exactly the wrong thing. The way her brow quirks doesn’t exactly do his confidence any favours either. Nonetheless, he stills himself. He remembers what this is all for, who this is all for. “You think we didn’t think it was wrong?”

“If something like that was on television, then it would be pretty normalized. Hell, Tsumugi suggested that the whole damn thing was popular. People might not bat an eye, because the participants consented and knew what they were getting into. Nobody would ever really consider what was going on on the other side. I mean, it’s just like when you used to see the Olympics on TV. Everyone thinks they could do it, but nobody considers what you put yourself through.”

“I… guess…”

“I know that probably doesn’t settle your worries. And, honestly… I get it. I can say everything I just said, but I get it. Sometimes you just feel so guilty for surviving, and for doing what you did to survive. You wonder why you deserve it over everyone else.”

Kaede nods, teary-eyed. He tries not to pay too much attention to the quivering of her lip and the crinkling of her chin, lest his fussing upset her more. Right now, it seems best to just let her feel as she needs to. Perhaps the best thing he can do for her right now is let her know that her feelings are understood and heard. “Everyone wasn’t perfect, but they were… they were kind at heart, I think. And at the beginning there, I could feel how badly everyone wanted to survive. I could feel…” She sighs, her voice breaking the longer she goes on. “I could feel them. Even when we started losing people, I could still feel them with us. Their spirits never left me. I couldn’t stop thinking about their loved ones… Their families… It didn’t matter if maybe Rantaro didn’t have all those sisters, or if Angie’s island wasn’t really real… There must be people out there who loved them. There always are.”

Ryoma doesn’t answer, just keeps stroking her thumb, knowing that he has her on the right track. He needs to let her speak, to let her share this fear with the world.

“And sometimes, I just wonder… what did I do to deserve to be here? Do they… do they hate that it was them who died instead of me?”

Her voice lowers to a whisper.

“Sometimes I do. I don’t feel like I have a right to be here. Not when I could have gotten everyone killed.”

Ryoma squeezes her hand tightly. “Nobody’s life is more valuable than yours, Kaede. Nobody’s life is more valuable than anybody else’s, you know that. I wasn’t exactly friends with a lot of ‘em, but I know that if they were here, that’s what they would tell you. They know you did the best you could. You never wanted anyone to die.”

Kaede sniffles. “I just… I wish nobody had to get hurt. I wish they didn’t have to go through it. I wish we’d all been smarter.”

“We were kids, Kaede. Kids are stupid. Teenagers think they’re invincible until suddenly something happens, and they realize that they’re not. I understand how you feel, I really do, but if there’s one thing you taught me, it’s that we can’t let ourselves be bound to our mistakes forever. If we do something bad, and we lose someone, then we owe it to that person to try and be better in the future. And all I’ve seen you do is try and be better for the people you left behind.”

“I wish I could have saved them,” she sobs, “I wish I could have done things differently.”

“But you couldn’t.”

She stares at him wide-eyed, blinking at him in disbelief.

“I couldn’t either. Neither could Gonta. Even Shuichi, in his last moments when he tried to save us from his… his own mistakes, couldn’t save us completely. He could only save the ones who were left. And I know he would regret that it could only be the three of us, but the fact of the matter is, that was the best he could do. He trusted us to keep doing better on behalf of everyone. If he didn’t, he’d have left us to die.”

There is a pregnant pause that stands between them, but for the first time in this whole conversation, Ryoma doesn’t doubt what he’s saying. All of the heart skips of panic and twistings of his belly have melted away now. All he cares about is making sure she knows. She needs to know that she did all that she could, that she did more than enough.

“All of their hopes are pinned on us, Kaede. That’s why we survived.”

Kaede doesn’t answer, just turns her head down. For a moment, he thinks he’s got her figured out and maybe she’s soothed, but another hiccup reminds him that it isn’t so. At any moment she could burst from his grasp and run off to her room, determined to never speak to him again. He won’t let that happen. There is still more to say, more to do to soothe her. He has to soothe her.

“How can you… say all this, but say you understand…?”

“Because I learned from someone that sometimes, even if everything is dark, you need to look for the light. I’ve heard a lot of lies in my life, mostly coming from myself, so I learned to find the truths, even if they’re hard. I can’t let the lies rule over me, and I can’t let those demons win.”

Ryoma slides his hand along the underside of Kaede’s jaw, turning her face towards him gently. It still breaks his heart to see her beautiful eyes gleaming with such sadness. Any tear that falls now will be wiped away by his thumb on her cheek.

“You taught me that, Kaede.”

She presses her face further into his hand, holding onto his wrist. It doesn’t seem like she has much more to say, so he just lets her rest her cheek against him, stroking it comfortingly. Before long her eyes flutter closed, and he finds himself sitting in wait, listening to the sound of her shaky breaths. What a perfect creature. In spite of all their circumstances, he is glad that he and Kaede were brought together. He just hopes that with moments like these, he can ensure that it is worth her while as well.

He's not sure how long they sit there, drinking in the comfort of each other’s presence and the ideologies they share, but the quietude is peaceful. Over time, Kaede’s tears begin to dry and her breaths stabilize. Everything most definitely is not okay now, but it’s better, and Ryoma thinks that it is a victory in and of itself. He knows he could never heal her guilt entirely. The best thing he can do is support her as she fights through it, just as she has done for him. He thought he would never love again after losing Mio, but today has more than proven to him that he would do anything for Kaede. So he’ll embrace this quiet, and let her tell him what she needs.

In the end, the answer ends up being that she needs a surprise appearance from Gonta.

The apartment had been so quiet that the moment he swings the door open, the two of them jump a little – which, hilariously, also makes Gonta jump. For a moment a flicker of alarm catches in Gonta’s expression, wondering if he caught them in the midst of an intimate moment he wasn’t supposed to see, but it fades when he realizes that the two are just sitting on the couch.

“Gonta!” Kaede exclaims, pushing a smile. It is not symmetrical or perfect, but it’s stronger than any of the other ones that she’s given Ryoma today. That’s another victory, he thinks to himself. “You’re back early.”

The bug enthusiast nods carefully, placing his bug catching box down on the counter. Ryoma tries not to cringe – he respects Gonta’s affection, but he really doesn’t want bugs where the food goes. “Gonta is sorry to interrupt; Gonta had good luck today, found dung beetle friend much faster than expected.”

Ugh. Ryoma tries even harder not to cringe. Not just a bug where the food goes, but a bug fascinated by fecal matter. Blegh. “It’s okay,” Ryoma says, trying not to sound strained so Gonta won’t be hurt by his disgust, “We were just…”

He glances to Kaede. It would be easiest to be honest with Gonta about how she’s feeling, but they are her feelings. It is ultimately her call to make. She can say whatever she wants to say, and he’ll support her.

“Ryoma was comforting me.” She places a hand on Ryoma’s thigh. “I’ve been having… a hard time.”

“Something is hurting Kaede?” Gonta asks thoughtfully, his brows furrowing.

She nods gently. “Yes. I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my memories. I feel guilty over things that happened, when we were in the Killing School Life… I didn’t know how to talk about it. You and Ryoma have both been so open and honest with me about the way it makes you feel, and I… hadn’t been doing it back, and we realized that that was hurting me.”

“Yes, bottling up hurts Kaede. It hurts Gonta, too. Good that Ryoma and Kaede talked.” He pushes a smile. “Can Gonta help?”

He gestures at his bug cage on the counter.

“Maybe Kaede like to meet dung beetle, learn few fun facts?”

With one last exchange of gestures, a smile crosses Kaede’s face as well. Then, they both turn back to Kaede.

“Sure, bring ‘em on over,” Ryoma sighs, finding it within even himself to put on a grin, “And tell us everything you know about him.”

Leave it to Gonta to make sure things stayed perfectly imperfect. A failed date, a poop-loving bug in their home, and a lot of tears… but progress is progress, and Ryoma cannot be prouder that they were able to make it. As Gonta opens up the cage and starts talking about his dung beetle, gently guiding him around the cage with his finger, Ryoma feels Kaede’s head lean on his own. At any other time, it might not mean much of anything other than a sign of affection, but today… Today he thinks it means that he did good.

An example of an actual undeniable inconsistency in Fates that i noticed was Yukimura's survival (or lack thereof) in the JP script of Conquest; Corrin says this in Chapter 23:

It isn’t surprising… So many Hoshido soldiers were slaughtered before her eyes. We could’ve helped Yukimura and her two retainers if they were prisoners of war, but…

But then says this to Ryoma at the end of Chapter 27:

Sakura and Yukimura were kept alive properly as prisoners of war.

The only explanation i can think of that would make this make sense would be that Corrin was lying to Ryoma about Yukimura being taken prisoner, but i find that extremely unlikely; Ryoma has never shown any kind of serious affection for Yukimura and, as such, Corrin stands nothing to gain by lying to him about his survival, so it was more likely than not just a blunder on whoever wrote the chapter 27 line.

(Also rip to Hana and Tsubaki, those guys are definitely dead and, worse still, Sakura probably had to watch as they were killed too😔)

Actually! I found out that apparently some fan translations got that first bit in CH. 23 wrong and that the part about "we could've helped them" is more like "at least we were able to help them" or some such. So it's consistent I think. Besides, I think part of why the surviving royal siblings on each route are relatively okay is because they have their retainers alive as well. I don't think Sakura would be as okay with Nohr if she didn't at least have Hana and Subaki still with her.

Dnaganrompa x Twisted Wonderland: The Killing Game

tw: Major spoilers for Danganrompa(1, 2, and 3), major spoilers for Twisted Wonderland(main story/books), mentions of character death(including special characters),suicide, murder, execution, starvation

I've been getting into Danganrompa(again), and was thinking that some of the characters in Danganrompa remind me of a few twst characters. That got me thinking. Who in NRC would survive the killing game? I'll put in a tier list, and then elaborate on my reasoning and thoughts further down. I'm only including students(yes Grim and Ortho count). I'm not going to mention all characters, but there are a few that I'll speak on.

Malleus- Malleus surviving is kind of a no brainer. Nobody would have the nerve to try and kill him, and he's a big softie so he wouldn't kill anybody else either. If provided with a big enough motive, I feel like he would think about it. Some kind of motive where the mastermind threatens to harm his family would be enough to get him to take action. Or something that's putting the Briar Valley in danger. He kinda gives me Kirumi Tojo vibes, and would probably have a similar plan. Find someone who wouldn't mind dying/being killed, kill them, then "graduate" and save their homeland. However, like I said, I don't think he would kill anyone.

Idia- I feel like Idia could survive by simply not socializing. Staying in his room all day just like he was doing before. Obviously reminds me of Chiaki Nanami.

Lilia- Lilia is a really kind person and I have no doubt he would sacrifice himself if it meant helping other people survive.(Ibuki Mioda)

Kalim- Boy stood no chance. I feel like depending on the circumstances between he and Jamil at that moment, his safety would really be hanging by a thread. Post-overblot Jamil probably wouldn't be protecting Kalim, unlike pre-overblot Jamil. Even with Jamil's protection, he would probably still get killed. Perhaps after the events of Jamil's overblot, Kalim might sacrifice himself to Jamil as a form of apology and understanding towards Jamil. He understands why Jamil did what he did, and is apologizing for how he treated him, despite it being unintentional. He wouldn't kill anyone, and even if he wanted to, I doubt he would get away with it.

Grim- Grim would talk so much mess. Bragging about how he's going to survive, but in reality would probably be the first one dead. He might think about killing someone, but probably wouldn't be able to do it. Might finally cave when the starvation motive is put in motion. I don't know why, but he kinda gives me Ryoma Hoshi vibes. I feel like he might have some sort of consensual death(like Ryoma) after the events of book 6/end of book 5, but that seems unlikely.

Sebek- He would probably get killed, but I feel like he might murder someone if they started being too hostile towards Malleus or once the "Killing Among Loved Ones" motive was introduced. Nobody would like him because of his rambling about Malleus and Lilia, and would probably become someone's target relatively quickly. If a murderer caught Sebek alone and was strong enough, it'll be lights out. I'm thinking Leona and Sebek would be rivals even in this situation. Sebek would probably go to Leona's room and try to kill him, but would end up the short end of the stick.

Jade- Korekiyo Shinguji for sure, he's just so insane and I love it. Jade would definitely kill and wouldn't be scared if/when he's found guilty. I don't even think Jade would kill for any reason outside of Floyd or Azul being in danger. Maybe he would kill someone and then play it off like that person wanted to die, and that it was an act of "kindness and compassion". Acting like he just wanted to help the poor unfortunate soul of which was suffering greatly. He would probably die with that creepy smile on his face. Maybe he'd team up with Floyd or Azul.

Azul- He's probably the most insane person in the killing game. I have no doubt that he would be on a killing spree, likely with the assistance of Floyd and Jade. He's definitely Celestia Ludenburg, all the way. The planning, the execution, getting an accomplice, the motive, and of course how they would act once the truth has been revealed. Yeah, I doubt he would be the first to kill, but once the "Ten Million Dollar(madol)" motive is revealed, he's going to mow down so many people to get the prize. There's no way he wouldn't team up with someone, especially Floyd and Jade. Jade's really cunning and meticulous with his actions, which would be perfect for cleaning up blood and hiding evidence. Floyd's super strong, so he's perfect to have around once a corpse needs to be moved or hidden. Azul, while shady, would be the perfect red herring for a killer. Azul could be standing somewhere, with Floyd and Jade hiding somewhere nearby. So once a killer walks up and tries to kill Azul, Floyd can swoop in and squeeze them unconscious, and by then the final act is nearly finished. Someone like Epel might try to kill him so they can escape, but ends up being the one to die instead. Lastly, during the trial, once people start to realize that Azul is responsible for the death(s), he would go full Celeste and start malfunctioning. Just think about Azul right before he overblots, that would be him during the trial. I don't think he would be as accepting of his like Jade though, he would probably break down and cry and beg not to be killed.

Floyd- He would probably just get bored to be honest. I doubt there's a real reason he would kill someone, outside of helping Azul or Jade. He's the type to have a fight to the death just for fun. He would lie during a trial and tamper with a crime scene just to make things more fun and interesting. Kokichi Oma, much? I feel like people might try to kill him for two reasons. One, he's shady as hell. Two, because he's crazy and people think he's the mastermind. They probably wouldn't have the chance to kill him though. Once someone's built up the nerve to kill him, a body will have just been discovered at that very moment.

Sorry this was a long post, I just was kind of in the mood to write a lot. I've been enjoying re-watching Danganrompa, although it is something you need to be in the mood to watch. You can't just have gameplay of it in the background. The trials get pretty intense, and you need to pay attention to them to figure out what's happening. I guess you could Google it afterward, but where's the fun in that. Celeste's trial is what inspired me to make this post, just in case that wasn't clear.
