This doesn't mean we should just accept more and more wasteful tech practices either. Proof of work cryptocurrency, for example, was/is also horrendous in terms of power draw.

On the AI thing specifically, I think I heard that actually running the larger models is also pretty bad, so training cost is not the only concern. Even if runtime cost gets low, we can expect that companies will always be training more and more power intensive models to compete with each other, so like, sure the model is "permanent" but its replacement has to be done by next quarter forever.

My point is that wasting compute resources, and thus wasting a not negligible amount of water to cool the servers, *is* bad! Sure there are bigger battles, but the AI industry is still forming itself. If it becomes unpopular enough, it might collapse, which would not only be good environmentally but many people here want that outcome because AI has stolen their work and threatens many livelihoods. Environmental allegations are a useful tool in this fight, and imo not even a deceptive one like you're suggesting.

I simply do not believe you actually care about the environment if youre using water consumption statistics for ai as an "own" while you still eat meat and especially beef. "it costs a million liters of water to train an ai for a year!" if you include water used for crops grown specifically to feed animals and not humans it costs upwards of five times that just to raise a single cow.

Less a Rossier headcanon than historical research but the thing Crozier & and both of the Rosses had going on feels more & more like a throuple, the more I read about them. Among other things: Ross & Ann were the only people allowed to call Crozier Frank. Crozier had nicknames for Ross (John) & Ann (dear thot) too. He was Ross' best man at their wedding and lived with them for a while. The conception of the first two Ross kids is *almost* oddly coordinated to whenever Crozier was around and they didn't have any more until Ross returned from the Arctic in search of the Franklin expedition. Ross had promised Ann (or her father, depending on the source) that he'd never sail again but dropped everything immediately to captain one of the rescue ships when they started looking for the Franklin expedition. Ann apparently gave her blessing by stating that he should bring "our Frank" back. They both sent out letters to Crozier during the early search parties (which were never delivered, obviously).

They make me insane (and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Don't let me tell you about Ross & Crozier having matching hand tremors from their time in Antarctic. Or the ball on New Year's Eve in 1842, which Ross (possibly in drag due to jokingly being referred to as Ms. Ross in some sources) & Crozier opened with a dance. Or Franklin writing about Ross & Crozier that "the same soul animates each". Or Ross stating about Crozier's eulogy that "I was limited to 12 lines to speak of his services. It was hardly possible to say the thousandth part of what I should have like to have said of one I so truly loved". So a very, VERY long time ago, before chapter 2 released I think, I posted some Dark World designs for Toriel and Asgore, but since then both my understandings of their characters, character designing overall and personal tastes have evolved, so I made new designs for them! (including revamping the official light world walksprites because god knows deltarunes spritework is flawed) I'm slowly working on doing all their battle animations too, but until then, just the idles will do I hope.

Rewatching Lost and I’m on s2 and I forgot how ominous the others seemed before their ‘official’ introduction?

Like it’s so laughably funny in retrospect that they were painted as these inhuman, incomprehensible collective entity. The tail-end survivors are under the impression they’re some kind of supernatural force, capable of moving through the jungle without leaving trace, and possessing a knowledge of the island’s layout that they can’t even dream of replicating.

I see a lot of complaints online that the show was better before the Others were revealed but honestly I love that, in a show full of bored gods and ancient temples, the Others were just people. People who’d grown with the jungle, adapted to tread lightly and move fast. People who spent their time bickering over book clubs and watching TV. I loved the later addition that the crash shook up their way of life almost as much as those on the plane; suddenly faced with a new group of people, unaware what that will entail for them.

In conclusion I really enjoyed the gradual portrayal of the Others within the show; their slow transition from omnipresent malevolent force, to a group of people thrust into a unique situation.

(I still firmly hold the belief that everyone was collectively winging it for a solid 90% of the first two season. I mean, there’s no indication that plane’s regularly crash; I can only assume that the last ‘surviving’ addition to the island was Rousseau. None of those mfs were at all prepared for 60+ people to suddenly appear. Props to Ben for coming up w a plan in the .5 seconds he had to register a PLANE CRASHING bcs that could not be me)

That's actually a really good question, I've never thought about it before.

I think he must have been swept up in the crowd with all the other people kimcom saved in the 1865th round. Like Lee Jihye's classmates, he became just another normal high schooler who survived the start of the apocalypse by crushing bugs.

Since he wasn't their companion in the only turn Kimcom knew, they didn't pay any special attention to him. The only one who knew that he was supposed to be a part of this all is Yoo Joonghyuk, and he probably decided to leave him alone for once.

Kimcom was already so united and isolated by their experience in the previous round, bring a 'stranger' into their fold for no reason would seem strange and unnecessary for them.

...It's sort of bittersweet. Kim Dokja's disregard is what saved him from the curse of being a protagonist in ORV. He is not stuck in the cycle like kimcom is, all because Kim Dokja decided not to save him.

Kim Namwoon is the only character that can be said to have truly and completely escaped the narrative.

Hello… uh, um… this one is sorta still figuring out being a doll. It likes being a plush bunny doll and being comforting for others… but this one is also scared of not being a doll.

This one has problems with feeling like it doesn’t belong and it doesn’t always speak in third person for itself, and it worries that it’s not enough of a doll.

There are plenty of dolls who don't speak in third person. Look, I'm doing it right now! This one prioritizes the comfort of others too, so it's no bother for it to adjust how it talks about itself in certain company. This doesn't make it any less of a doll, of course, and neither would doing so for any other reason, be it a habit or a preference.

We can all worry about being "enough" from time to time. What's important to remember is that, especially as a stuffie, comfort is an important part of our existence. Sure, there are some dolls that had their souls ripped out while they were forced into dollhood and loved every second, but those who desire a softer dollhood as just as welcome to enjoy the empty space. So, please experience dollhood in whatever way makes that one the most comfortable!

Honestly, there's not that big of a different between a floret and a doll anyway, at least in this one's opinion. We are things relieved of the burdens of humanity, controlled by our mistress. Only florets don't do as many chores, and we have tea instead of xenodrugs. Oh! Perhaps Elmara can give you some Class-Ms? Then you wouldn't be able to dwell on those doubts even if you wanted too...
