Summary:

In the distant past, the Guardian of the Milky Way galaxy named Lanancuras began to harbor a desire for more power. Because of his connection to the galaxy, he was able to absorb parts of planets and add them to his strength. As a result, he began invading the worlds he was assigned to protect. In the wake of his destruction, a following of creatures from across the galaxy pledged allegiance to Lanancuras and became known as the Kadrians. Taking notice of his ever-growing power and followers, the other Celestial Guardians confronted him; however, he had become too powerful, and they were defeated. Unable to subdue Lanancuras, the Celestial Guardians each gave up a part of their power and combined it into a single new Guardian, Mushra. In a final desperate attempt, they used Mushra's core by transforming it into a powerful card with which to seal Lanancuras in a prison. The prison was created from the remains of planets that had suffered under Lanancuras' tyranny. Because planets are themselves large beings, their combined strength (along with the power of the card) was able to restrain him. Thus Lanancuras was successfully sealed in a large meteorite.

The meteorite was sent off into the galaxy to be sealed forever. Meanwhile, the way Lanancuras had increased his strength had consequences on the planets of the Milky Way On Earth, around the 22nd century, it was in the shape of a virus that merged with human DNA and destroyed the humans that way. In order to eliminate the virus, scientists worked on combining human DNA with the DNA of animals and other creatures immune to the effects. They succeeded and created a sentient race known as Enterrans (a race of engineered Earthlings) which are based on humans, insects, reptiles, birds, sea creatures, wild beasts, and phantom beasts. Eventually, a cure was found and the human race survived.

However, due to Lanancuras' influence, the Enterrans fought their human creators as well as the robots that worked with the humans, driving the human race to a near extinction state. Luckily, a scientist named Dr. Daigo Tatsuro placed his 4-year-old daughter Yakumo in a sleep chamber in hopes that she would save the human race and find the human sanctuary Shinzo and bring peace back to Earth which was then renamed to Enterra. When the meteor that Lanancuras was imprisoned in struck Earth during the earlier parts of the Human-Enterran War, its fragment had struck an infant Yakumo giving her abilities that she would later discover.

ELEMENTAL REALM / ECLECTIC CHAMBER OCS!

Hiiiiiii first art post I'm sharing publicly! This has been a month in the making but it's so worth it. These are a handful of characters in my OC universe, the Elemental Realm! AKA the Eclectic Chamber, I'm currently going through a name change from elemental realm to eclectic chamber. Don't worry about that.

Italicized names mean those are placeholders while I still try to come up with a better name. For some, those placeholders have been there for years :P whoops

These comprise pretty much all the significant characters I have (with a guideline of appearing in at least 2 stories although there's some exceptions). There are roughly another 100 or so characters that I opted not to include because they're either not as significant, I don't have an interesting design for them, or I just didn't feel like it. Full namedrop behind the read more in case you're interested! Maybe I'll do a part 2 of this in a year or so, who knows.

If there's any characters here that tickle your fancy, shoot an ask or a comment for me to infodump about them! Quality of infodumping may vary, especially considering I still have to step around spoilers and whatnot, but I'm very interested to show you how these characters have been sculpted in my head over these past several years. (Also, I will be revealing some info about the story ideas I already have in mind for the Elemental Realm soon, so stay tuned for that!)

i was recommended this story by a friend years ago as a part of a twitter challenge, not because of personal tastes. i picked it from my tbr list in december last year in my quest to reach my yearly reading goal. i saw it was a novella and knew that i could finish it off in one setting in two or three hours tops. what i did not expect was that it would open my appetite for stories with sentient robots/ai!!

i immediately felt a kinship with murderbot. “her” hobbies of scouring the inter-webs and binge watching dramas and game shows instead of just drowning herself in tedious tasks reminded me so much of myself that i kept laughing whenever she mentioned her dramas.

the plot kept moving at a breakneck pace that kept me engaged and entertained and honestly i can’t wait to delve into the next instalments of this series to see what’s murderbot next adventure!

REPRESSED MEMORY (COOL AWESOME DIVERGING TIMELINES M1X!!!!)

so the main thing to know about this song... is that it's a remix!! it's a remix of a much older song of mine called "repressed memory" that was one of the first ones i made/finished i believe! this isn't my first time remixing an older song (see kitty dreams of dying cell) but damn...... this remix goes hard.... i think this song really slaps and i also think that it's cool that it's 5 minutes long. it feels really good to make a song that's longer than i usually make them

i never uploaded the original version of this and i feel like it's too old to put on the channel at this point but i will definitely put it here

the reason i chose this song specifically to remix is because i actually made a script for an animatic with rochester + ruther forever ago that had the song in it... i don't think i have the video file for that on this computer but i know that it's around somewhere, probably on my old laptop

so the story of this song and the meaning of the title... the song is about both versions of rochester rutherford (ruther and rochester) remembering the moment that really defined who they are now... this is the moment right before their timelines diverge, where the past version of rochester rutherford activates the two robots (not shown in this video, but they are PG-01 (pangloss) and CD-02 (candide)) that are the world's first examples of sentient AI. for both timelines, this goes the same way— very well! he is very well received, and he quickly becomes highly respected... but for ruther, those two robots soon become jealous and overthrow him and the whole World. for rochester that Doesn't happen.

their expressions in the main drawing for the song are meant to reflect their feelings about that moment; for ruther, he remembers it negatively, because those two robots are the ones that caused everything to go wrong. for rochester, he remembers it fondly, because those two robots were the beginning of everything going incredibly Right:

in the song, the second drawing has glitchy effects, because it's closer to the moment that their timelines diverge

i also think both of their reasons for repressing this memory are different: for ruther, he represses it because it's negative for him... he doesn't like remembering the moment just before everything went wrong... for rochester, he represses it because he's a busy dude and he has so many Cooler inventions now that he doesn't really have the time to stop and think about the old ones/his past self. for rochester it's a little less like he's repressing it and more like he just Forgets about it though

oh yeah... kind of unrelated but this song is going to be apart of an album that i've decided i'm making now. since i already have THREE other songs about rochester rutherford i figured i could probably just make one! i have two more songs planned for it currently: asphyxia requiem (another old song!) and reconstruction and repair! i think i am gonna call the album "a tale of two r's" because i think it's a clever and funny title

Places of the Mind - Idea Generation 02

After taking a break and returning, I began researching more inspirations, looking far out of my comfort zone. This is where I came across a piece called “Trible Robots” by Jorge Oliva (2022). What particularly interested me about this project, aside from the amazing design, was the tools they used, with which I have previous experience, boosting my confidence in replicating a similar outcome for my own project. This research opens new ideas centred around the theme “Technology”, but with a more positive outlook, away from the typical sci-fi or dystopian theme popularized by media. My vision is to introduce technology into our lives without taking over or replacing humans. These robots are known to be sentient and often depend on care, like our own pets. The theme is akin to the game “Horizon,” (Guerrilla Games, 2017) where we coexist with robots, replacing old forms of transport like cars. Drawing inspiration from Jorge Oliva’s “Tribal Robots” (2022), I want to recreate a similar design for a robotic bird used for air transport.  

This piece was created in stylized design, which I naturally enjoy working on. However, this project has an entirely hard-surface. This allows me to focus on learning new skills: working on hard surface models and texturing metals, this also means that the asset doesn’t have to be rigged or weight painted allowing me more time to focus on learning new skills. Excited about this new idea, I began researching more mecha themes and used Pureref to create a visual reference, mainly focusing on three main aspects: Style, Pose and Design.

After building this visual reference, I combined these ideas to create a rough concept in Blender, helping me visualize my idea better. The rough block-out is purely to help the concept idea building, but once I was happy with it, I moved on to creating a final concept art piece with colours in preparation for starting the 3d work.

Why Should We Be Cautious About AI-Generated Videos?

We love new technology, but tools powered by artificial intelligence (AI) seem to create more questions than answer problems. While AI isn’t completely new, the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022 has reignited public interest in the tool which is currently undergoing a rapid improvement in quality.

Silicon Valley leaders started warning about an existential risk to humanity posed by AI, and the possibility that it could become sentient – like the robots in Terminator or Westworld. Soon people were talking about the risk to their jobs, and where humans would be left in an increasingly automated world. Both concerns make the news headlines, but one of the biggest stories is the legal ramifications connected to using AI.

In this article, Squideo is going to break down why we should be cautious about AI-generated videos and how the law around AI is swiftly shifting.

Since we first started looking at artificial intelligence (AI) in June, a lot has changed! At the time of writing in August 2023, here is an overview of the leading artificial intelligence headlines:

An American court has ruled that AI-generated art cannot be copyrighted, stating “human authorship is an essential part of a valid copyright claim.” A related case is currently being processed by the UK Supreme Court.

Artists have accused Adobe Stock of AI ‘copyright infringement’ as the AI art appears to mimic the style of the artist, at least partially.

AI could revolutionise the mining industry, threaten the jobs of programmers, or possibly create the best racing game ever.

A study by the United Nations (UN) has found that women face a disproportionate risk of losing their jobs to AI. This is because of their over-representation in clerical jobs, especially in the most economically developed countries.

Governments around the world are racing to understand this new technology and regulate AI tools.

These headlines suggest there is a need for caution when using AI-generators, but why is this new tool causing so many legal headaches?

The Risks of Artificial Intelligence

In the Compliance & Risk journal published by Osborne Clarke this month, it broke down the main legal risks businesses face when they use AI. This could be to produce written and visual content, and definitely applies if you’re using AI to generate a video.

01. Bias and Discrimination

A piece of work is only as good as its creator, and the same applies to AI. AI-generators are created by programmers who input data to train the AI. Over the past 20 years, we’ve seen plenty of times programmers have missed the mark. For example, in 2014 Amazon’s recruitment software was found to discriminate against female candidates applying for technical roles.

Programmers (or coders) can have unconscious bias or discriminatory attitudes. AI can also misinterpret data. Regulation of AI can help to identify this bias, yet that also comes with its own challenges.

02. Government Involvement and AI Audits

Do we need government policies for how we use artificial intelligence? Is it up to the individual business to audit their AI, to understand potential risks and create risk mitigation strategies? Is it the responsibility of the AI creator? These are questions the world is grappling with, and the current laws surrounding AI could change significantly within the next 5 to 10 years.

Different countries are taking different approaches, much like they did during the evolution of data protection laws. For international companies, this means there could be many standards to take into account. Think of how the European Union’s introduction of GDPR changed the way websites around the world secure consent for data processing. Where AI saves time, it could also create more work for your company.

03. Intellectual Property and Copyright Infringement

Whether you’re training AI or using AI-generated content, there is a legal risk in using third-party intellectual property rights without securing permission or a licence. AI creators are facing private litigation, from individuals and businesses, to protect their intellectual property from unauthorised use.

This month, it’s individual artists against Adobe Stock. In July it was Getty images against Stability AI. While text and data mining without permission is allowable in the UK, it does not allow data scraping for commercial purposes. How individuals and businesses will progress in these lawsuits is still to be decided, as a lot of cases remain in court.

As for work created by an AI-generator, it may not be copyrightable at all. In our headlines, there was an American court which ruled AI-generated art cannot be copyrighted since human authorship is essential for a copyright claim. AI can be used as a tool, but people must contribute to the creative process. For example, Squideo’s video producers could use an AI tool to alter images and the client would still have copyright over the video. Whereas if a client used an AI-generator to create an entire video, there would be no claim for legal ownership of the product.

04. Data Protection and Confidentiality

AI needs to be trained and, as discussed above, programmers often accomplish this with data scraping with information often sourced from the internet. What companies need to be wary of, especially if they are working within the UK or EU, is that data protection laws are not violated.

“While information about, or images of, real people might be lawfully used to train AI in some jurisdictions, the practice faces challenges in the EU or UK, where data protection rules tend to be stronger than elsewhere.” Osborne Clarke, August 2023.

An AI-generated video might use the image of a person who has not given their consent to have this photograph shared, opening up the possibility of litigation.

Level 01: Basically Human

Literally the only thing that makes a regular person on this list is if they are like, trapped/temporarily in a human body or have special abilities of some kind. 

Humans that are now immortal (not vampires cuz they’re slightly kinky with the biting and blood sucking).

Level 02: Mostly Human But Minor Differences 

Shifters (i.e. Werewolves), Vampires, and other such critters.

Aliens that are basically human but may have a tail, horns, wings or different colored skin. 

Anything with a dick that has interesting attributes (ridges, vibrates, etc.).

Level 03: More Monster Than Man (Physically)

Top half (or bottom) is humanoid and the rest is something else (i.e. Minotaurs, Naga, tentacles).

Day 50: Unit 00 (Neon Genesis Evangelion)

So over the past few days, I’ve been really just angry. And when I get angry, I listen to ELO (Electric Light Orchestra,) and when I listen to ELO, I think about Daicon 3/4, and when I think about Daicon 3/4, it leads me to Eva. My favorite EVA design is the original unit 00, and I feel like it gets a raw deal. I know the yellow one is the one they use most often now, and it’s a pretty solid design too, but I’m just a sucker for a blue robot/cyborg.

So, spoilers for Evangelion, but I had a little theory. Each EVA is sentient to some degree, right? We see that in the original show and the End of Eva with units 01 and 02 in their berserk forms. So is unit 00 sentient? It goes wild a few times in the show…

Does it take it’s soul from a Rei clone to function? And if so, is it still around past the 3rd impact? (Or some of it at least?) Imagine if it just watched everything happen. How strange would that be? Could it even comprehend what’s going on?

Do you think it can tell that all the water is red now? Do you think it remembers what the Rain used to be like?

Toy Bonnie (Vince) -

Toy Bonnie was the third animatronic created at the Henton Robotics Company.

He was made for the sole purpose of the entertainment of small children, much like Toy Freddy, the leader.  He was also made to act as an older sibling or even a parent figure so parents of kids could take a well-deserved rest from watching their kids.

Appearance - Toy Bonnie is a blueberry blue anthropomorphic rabbit with lighter blue fingers, toes, belly, muzzle, and under part of the tail. He has dark blue ears with bright green stripes on them all the way to the top of the ears, the inner parts of the ears are green with darker green specks. He has dark blue, fluffy shoulders, elbows, and knees, the lower parts of the arms and legs have bright green stripes all the way around the limbs. He has a lot of fluff covering his lovely shade of green-colored eyes. He wears an oversized, bright green bowtie with pale green polka dots on it. He has small dark blue dots speckled around his body. He has a bright green, fluffy arm covering that has dark specks sprinkled in it. Part of the left arm is missing, the endoskeleton is the least exposed out of the three main “Toy Animatronics” because he was active during the years of not being in a restaurant, as Fritz Smith, one of the former employees took him home with permission from William Afton himself. The endoskeleton is exposed on the left leg and right leg. He has two dark blue buttons on his chest under the bowtie.

Date created - Toy Bonnie was created approximately a week after the creation of Toy Chica and Toy Freddy, as his programming, according to William Afton was “far more complicated than the other two, combined.” His partner, Henry Seacrest agreed with this statement and added on to it with, “we (William and I) wanted him to seem the most authentic out of the group, as he would act as an older sibling, or even parent figure.”

During the summer of 1989, Henry Seacrest, a long-time partner of William Afton sadly killed 5 kids, including beloved teen Vince Forté, an exchange student from Italy that was enrolled in Hurricane, Utah public schools.

Trivia part 1 - Toy Bonnie (Vince) is the only toy animatronic left in use by the renamed company of Afton Entertainment and remains the favorite of a large majority of the visitors, despite his kind of rough appearance. Currently (in the year 2032) he has been in use for 45 years, the longest out of any of our animatronic pals.

Trivia part 2 - Toy Bonnie has shown a close bond with two of our smaller twin rabbit animatronics, Bon-Bon, and Bonnet, and displays a certain “joy” around them, he seems a lot more like a sentient being every week.

who are the important NPCs in 02 and 04s lives respectively?

for 02, firstly it'd be his INNER CIRCLE; a small group of 02's best intelligence officers, information brokers, and international hackers that run the name HIEROPHANT, the general collective term for 02's persona of a ruthless international hacktivist and shadow broker. each of them carries out actions that 02 directs them to, usually towards some greater end. he considers them his friends.

there's four members of the inner circle, not including 02. each of them shares the name HIEROPHANT and uses it like a calling card. this way, there never appears to be weakness or gaps in the name's info; someone's always running the show behind the scenes.

they're as follows:

MARUKI - kantonese intelligence officer and former military special tactics agent. he handles 02's info on enemy movements and private military company actions. weird and suave despite being a traitor that sold out his fellow agents for 600,000 dollars. 02 keeps a close eye on him. EKATERINA - sinnohan billionaire with a handle on corporate science and tech capital groups. she lobbies for policy changes that benefit herself and HIEROPHANT in hoenn and nothing else. RAHUL - hoenn crime lord, drug trader, and eccentric 1%er. if it's illegal, rahul probably knows about it and could buy you it in seconds. just as likely to shoot you as he is to buy you crab rangoon. KASUMI - a master thief and former circus acrobat. yes, that's her backstory. kasumi specializes in "property acquisition", sabotage, infiltration, and has a network of spies all over the place. she has stolen the mona lisa and WILL NOT give it back.

it is important to note: YES they are all terrible people, yes 02 is wrangling them for the greater good. he has horrible taste in friends if you havent noticed yet.

02 also has KASPER, his service drone that he built. he loves the little shit robot even if it's not really sentient and basically lives in his backpack. that's his son.

04's circle is much less glamorous. he's very protective of his receptionist, though (her name is diane) and he often keeps a very, very close eye on her to make sure none of his weird bullshit affects her. anyone that threatens her usually ends up disappearing. his more notable clients include the one that randomly decided she was a flat-earther out of nowhere (and then acted like everything was fine next week, he still doesn't get it), and also a former cultist that bombed a hospital once.

he's got a hard life.

SSSS.Gridman EP#01 - Awakening: A young boy named Yuta Hibiki awakens in the home of one of his classmates, Rikka Takarada, with no memory of his past and sees hallucinations of a robot named Gridman in an old computer terminal in Takarada's family store. The next day, Yuta meets his friend Sho Utsumi, who helps him cope with his amnesia. Intrigued by Yuta's story about Gridman, Utsumi asks Yuta to show him the terminal (which he nicknames "Junk"), and they run into Rikka along the way. A kaiju then abruptly appears and begins attacking the city. Yuta is sucked into the terminal and reappears as Gridman to battle the Kaiju. With help from Utsumi and Rikka, Yuta is able to defeat the kaiju, but Gridman warns them that there will be more kaiju to come. Next day, Yuta and his friends are shocked to see that their school, which was destroyed in the kaiju attack, has somehow been completely rebuilt.

Attack on Titan: The Final Season (Marley Arc) EP#02 (61) - Midnight Train: At a Marley military strategy meeting, the generals express concern that the usefulness of the Titans is being overtaken by the armaments of the enemy nations. Zeke, who is also present, proposes to use his last year of life to attack Paradis Island and retake the Founding Titan, thus buying time for the reconstruction of Marley's military. On a train back to their homes in the city of Liberio, the surviving Eldian soldiers praise Gabi for her courage, while Reiner secretly encourages Falco to become the Armored Titan himself instead of Gabi. Cousins Gabi and Reiner arrive home and reunite with their family, while Falco supports a pair of returning Eldian soldiers traumatized by the war. Zeke believes that the independent Eldians on Paradis are preventing local Eldians from integrating with Marleyan society. The next day, Zeke informs the other Titan Warriors of his plan to use the Tybur noble family and their War Hammer Titan to announce an offensive against Paradis. The Tybur Family is influential because of their success in driving King Fritz into exile, so he proposes that the Tyburs publicly announce their involvement during a festival in Liberio where dignitaries from various other countries will be present.

Sword Art Online: Alicization: War of Underworld Part 2 (Alicization Lasting) EP#20 (44) - The Night-Sky Blade: To save the dragons from death, Kirito turns them back into eggs and while Asuna takes Alice to the World End's Altar, Kirito stays behind to confront Miller. Despite his new abilities, Kirito is easily overpowered by Miller until he releases the power of both his swords, which restrains the enemy and creates a night sky across all UW, with all of Kirito's friends sending their thoughts to empower him. With the help of Eugeo's spirit, Kirito defeats Miller for good just as the UW server reaches maximum acceleration, which forcibly logs out all other players from UW while Alice also departs to the real world through the altar. Realizing that he will be trapped inside UW for 200 years, Kirito bursts into tears until Asuna appears before him, much to his surprise.

Fire Force Season 2 Chinese Peninsula Arc EP#08 (32) - Smoldering Malevolence: Shinra believes the internal voice came from the Tabernacle. Scop explains the history of the Tabernacle and how a young woman in black robes taught them to speak and repaired the structure. Suddenly the group are attacked by cloaked sentient Infernals who have also set booby traps in the surrounding area. An Infernal states that the Tabernacle was built to destroy the world, but this is refuted by Scop who says it has benefited them, leading Shinra to believe that an Amaterasu can be used for good or evil. Meanwhile Tempe's Infernals have completed gathering a series of tablets which he plans to use to release the Tabernacle's full power. Purt Co Pan, Victor and Arthur enter the Tabernacle to investigate while outside Tempe leads an attack by his Infernal followers against the Fire Force. Tempe reveals his intention is to kill himself and ascend to Heaven by blowing up the Tabernacle. Because this will also destroy the forest and the surrounding region, Shinra vows to defeat Tempe who has the power of a demon. Suddenly, Shinra detects the Adolla Link as the young woman in black robes appears behind him. Meanwhile inside the Tabernacle, Purt Co Pan and Victor vainly try to decode numbers engraved on the tablets and the walls, when Arthur suddenly comes up with a solution.

Assassination Classroom EP#17 - Island Time: Prior to their trip, biologist Hinano Kurahashi helps Nagisa, Sugino and Hiroto Maehara hunt for bugs, while pervert Taiga Okajima shows them his own trap laid out for Koro-sensei using a pile of porn magazines. However, Kurahashi becomes fascinated when Koro-sensei spots a rare stag beetle worth a ton of yen. Later, Lovro is called in to help train the students for their island assassination, taking interest in the two top marksmen of the class, Ryūnosuke Chiba and Rinka Hayami. After telling Nagisa about the world's most infamous assassin known only as The Reaper, Lovro decides to teach Nagisa a surefire assassination technique. The students of Class 3-E soon arrive at their island resort, making all the necessary preparations for their assassination. After having dinner, during which Koro-sensei inadvertently uses up his emergency shedding technique to get rid of sunburn, the class begin their assassination attempt aboard an on-sea chapel.
