Making the Buttons [Post 1 of 2] - This post is an explanation of the process. - Post 2 is a video.

The buttons were the very first thing I made, once enough pretty shiny materials had been collected. They were so much fun. They weren't hard, it just took a bit of time and attention to detail. With that, let's get to it...

The coat has two in front and two in the back. Here are two different photos, the first from Aria Couture and the second from Yosa Addiss.

You’ll see that they’ve suffered some damage through the years, and as of now there are no high definition close-ups of them, so that we can really look and discern what might have been there back when everything was intact. One of the front ones is gone!

What I did notice was a general warmth and multidimensional sort of coloring about them, which is why my approach involved layers. A lot of aspects of this costume don’t present themselves as definitively colored; there’s always a two-toned or iridescent quality to them. For that reason, I built everything on top of a layer of copper flakes. It gave the buttons the warmth they needed despite that the rest of what is seen within them is cool-toned. 

There are the blue, spherical cabochons lining the outside; spherical, not angular. Within them, there is seemingly a mix of silver/metallic beads, and “crystals” that may have been anything from blue, to green, to yellow. Hard to say. This part comes down to the individual!

Does this diagram make sense and it is necessary? Probably not.

My choice was to do alternating silver and transparent grey beads, and then pool the center with hot glue and sea glass shards that were left over from the breaking down process. Since making the video of the replica, I did start to feel that less vs. more looked better for the glass, so I pruned a few pieces out of my buttons. I like them overall, but they need to be secured really well, and there was/is still a risk of shards popping out. It is a delicate costume. 

Next, we need to discuss the actual button bases. This was tricky. The whole thing is going to be covered, so they can’t be stitched on in the normal way, as there’s no outlet for the needle. You might be thinking a shank button would be good, since they are flat with protruding holes underneath:

BUT there's so much stuff that needs to go on them, they would definitely end up drooping. My solution to this problem was to buy flat just run-of-the-mill 4-hole buttons that were stapled onto cardboard, and remove the cardboard with the staples still attached. Then tighten the staples so that my needle could juuuuust get through. 

How do you like these puppies?!

Attaching them wasn’t too hard. I held the button a little bit away from the coat, brought my needle to the inside interfacing, and poked it out where the button should go, then brought the needle underneath the staple, then back into the coat, etc. etc. making 5-10 loops before pulling the thread and drawing up the button against the coat. Then, the needle was brought through the inside and knotted tightly into the interfacing, almost exactly where it had begun. 

Yayyyy buttons.

Because these were so delicate, they were almost the last thing added to the coat. They had to go on before the lining was closed, obviously, so that’s the only reason they came before the glue shenanigans. Glue shenanigans were all top switched once the coat didn’t need to be handled or laid down anymore. 

So... there it is. Some of this felt redundant but then I remember that there are new people visiting my blog, and I want things to be easy for them.

I am still working on those requests and WIPs, but I do have a few smaller ideas that I have planned! I was actually going to ask you all which to do first, so I know what's in high demand when I get back. I'm writing these in the order that they're in on my megadraft so.

1. Epilogue for "Sex Sells," The Moth Cries As He Runs From The Rampant Deer: I'll just be explaining what happened to Val after getting his ass kicked, with a bonus news report about the incident. Nothing too snazzy.

2. Story about languages in the hotel (unnamed): I heard a hc floating around that in Hell, everyone speaks their native language (So Charlie Latin, Alastor Creole French, Angel Italian), but there's a sort of translator to remove language barriers. This fic is a sickfic as well, in which not ONLY does the illness make you speak your first language, it has you blurt out the truth of what you think without second thought. Everyone at the hotel is fallen victim to it.

3. Sleepy times yayyyy: Literally just a 5+1 fic. 5 times Alastor is tasked with putting everyone to bed, 1 time he's being put to bed.

4. Hunger fic: Charlie deals with a difficult client, but ends up giving them a room. Everyone hates him, so Alastor decides to do something. Charlie doesn't exactly approve of Alastor’s snack and bans him from eating anything that Charlie doesn't give him herself. Alastor now deals with hunger, locked away in his room, until he finally snaps and goes against the princess. Charlie tries to fix her mess, Alastor goes full-on predator animal mode, and everyone else is just along for the ride. Heavily angsty, and relies on the hc that Alastor's hunger is only satiated by sinner flesh.

5. Radiosilence psychological fic: Something greatly weakens Alastor and Vox finds out. He uses it against him, kidnapping the deer, and melds his brain while he's weak. A slowburn(?) Fic of Alastor’s mindset, while in Vox’s captivity, going from "I need to get out of here and kill him" to "I can't live without him" each time Vox puts him under hypnosis. No g(rape) but very messed up. Also, predicted to be the length of the Angel AU i wrote.

6. Nightmare fic: So Lucifer uses his funky magic to project Alastor’s dreams onto a screen. Don't ask me how. Instead of cheesy romances or cliche power-possessing dreams, Lucifer sees something much, much more messed up. And damn, he regrets it so much.

7. Non-consensual drugging fic: Another torture fic. Lilith injects Alastor with a drug that makes him see everyone around him as someone he loves. This was in attempt to get him more attached (and ergo more obedient) to her but it backfires when he manages to escape to the hotel just as she inserts it. Ensue Alastor freaking out about why his mother is staring at him from the bar but also in the kitchen and simultaneously coming down from the stairs, when in reality, everyone’s just going about their days.

This might not have made sense, so sorry about that. I'll put up a little poll for you guys to pick which you're more excited for. That way, I'll work on it and make sure I post that first when I get back. :)

"Obvious ways to NOT get scammed when opening commissions"

Now if you're a smart and capable human who's already so good at being an adult then you might not need these advices. But if you're kinda gullible and young and eat instant noodles for dinner sometimes like me, this post might be for you!

1. "You're up for commissions? DM me!"

See, these jerks probably follow the #commission tag on insta to find their easy target. You have the comm sheet right there clear as daylight and they STILL ask this thing in your post's comments. And they don't even want to DM you, YOU DM THEM! Absolutely horrible commission etiquette! I think it's best to ignore these comments even if you're not sure about their intentions.

2. Random acc with 2 posts and 200+ followers casually walks up to your DMs and says: "Will you draw my pet for 200$??"

Suuuper basic tactics for scammers to initiate their hustle. They're just soooo basic and soooo boring they can't come up with anything else for you to draw they HAVE to be like "I don't give a damn about what you usually do or what weird fandom hyperfixation pills you're on but here's an easy-to come-up-with art idea!". And a fricking fortune for pets portraits?? Come on.

Yes, check the account too if you smell something fishy. Even if it's profile is an innocent old looking lady who seems really rude at texting for some reasons, it's worth being cautious about.

3. "Aww man something's wrong with your PayPal link, can you send me your email name instead?"

Now of course I'm not saying everyone who wants a pet drawing is a scammer. If you're still unsure or see nothing suspicious about the client, feel free to continue the conversation!

But oh noooo, every damn time they seem to have some fricking issue with your PayPal link! They DEMAND to know your email! Or offer to send the payment in some really vague foreign way. Alrighty, no big deal yet, it's not like they want to know your Roblox password or GG search history right? Let's see what might happen next!

4. Nope, no payment sent, but oooo, new email! So fun, let's check!

BAM! An "official" mail from PayPal. Some weird issue occurred and *inserts bullcrap explanation* now you have to like, send them back 500$ out of nowhere! Wait, what?!

Calm down, don't do anything yet (even if the "client" is so rudely pressuring you cuz you 'own' them cash now) Go through everything as thorough like it's your life crisis and notice that this email has an embarrassing typo! Perhaps... this is not a PayPal mail? Well no crap! You know exactly who sent it you silly goose! Plus these losers do be using ugly ass fonts amirite? Smh.

5. They're so obviously not interested in your art

Some of these bastards are just so vague about what they want for their art, you know? Instead of going on and on about the details, like do they want it coloured or not, what the artstyle is, yada yada bla bla bla, all they're excited about is getting to the payment part! The fun part of the hustle, yayyyy!! Oh and they're oddly rude and distant in the way they talk sometimes. Unacceptable even for scammers! If you want my money at least be nice!

6. So what do you do with these guys?

Block, delete, report and run!! And if you're still mad at them for lying to you, don't forget to tell those mfs to get a life instead of trying to scam someone who already knows how to make terrible financial decisions!! (it's me, I'm someone)

Pls remember though, don't jump to conclusions early yet. Now you don't want to accidentally block an innocent respectful person, do you? Trust your instincts!

You might have realized but I adore the audio format for storytelling, and finding out that sound and music is gonna be the core of your game got me extra pumped.

Here’s some Suggested “Readings” and Research Material from my side: Check out “Twenty Thousand Hertz”. They go deep and nerdy into sound, sound design and the stories behind some iconic sounds and mysteries related to sound and what not.

My favorite episodes:

Mine are mostly the stories behind iconic sounds. But..... There are ones that cover somethings you might be interested to find out about - Sound 101, Minecraft, Sonic Bubbles, Liquid Terror, Sleight of Ear.

They're amazing.

And, of course, it’s a thoughtfully, carefully curated auditory experience with some of the best sound design and editing ever.

Buuje P - FNF Freestyle

Yessss! Im going on vacation this weekend only. Im going to Florida. I be back who knows when but I be back to work on Envy The Dolls. Im just waiting on my order from DoorDash I order a 24 cans of mountain dew just waiting for them should be here in 5-8 minutes by now. But ummmm anyways on today agenda I have alot I woke up late because I was feeling the NBA crush boyfriend of mines lol . Just joking naw it just a crush on basketball player from the Mavericks but I be gone this weekend. Thank You Lord.So! my order has arrived and I order the wrong thing... I order diet mountain dew oh will it’s not great but it great. So! Anyways on October 1st I will be getting my Samsung Galaxy Tablet out of the pawn shop and then , also getting my Iphone 7 and my moto g pure phone out and my Samsung Galaxy A11 phone out of the pawn shop I believe that is like 4 items I put in the pawn shop that I have to get out hopefully before November 1st . But I will do that okay... I said I was going to save my little $13 dollars but I didnt I was bored so I brought me some soda from Dollar General off of DoorDash okayyyyy. So today agenda is:

HELLO AGAIN<3

SOOOO, obviously, I’m bacc. And, aksjhdfasjhfb it feels amazing.

It’s been like what? Decades??? Centuries?????? Eons????????? One can never know. But on the plus side, I’ll be here to stay (at least, for a while yayyy)

There have been some major developments in my life. They are as follows:

1. I came out to most of my friends as pansexual and gender fluid (mostly, still figuring that out), They’re obvi super supportive about it:) love the mfs:’)

2. Was seeing someone but it didn’t work out. We’re still friends tho, but not really? Idk, its a weird, flirty thing we have going on

3. I GOT AN OFFER FROM BIRMINGHAM YAYYYY (its conditional but let’s ignore that)

4. If everything works out, I’ll be moving to the UK in September.

5. I’m trying to catch up on a lot of shows and books that I missed out on due to college (which was a bitch and held last min offline exams that we had zero mental prep for but anywhoooo)

6. Watched AOUAD and dkhfbadhfjbv OMG omg, lemme just say….. GWI NAM (saw this one meme which went like “I hate him but I wanna fuck him but I hate him. Can relate hehehe)

7. Currently watching Squid Games (Sae-Byeok and Jun-Ho have my whole heart) and reading The Hobbit (like 9-10 chapters to go)

8. Should I be adding AOUAD and Squid Games characters to my writing list? Do lemme know coz like I’d love to do that

I think that’s it for now? I’ve covered all the important bits so like I’ll be back with more updates. For now, I’m gonna clear my Ask Box and then open asks so I can start writing again. P.S. will also try to post a chapter/week for Love & Other Desires.

YAYYAYAYAYYAYAYY FINALLY FOUND CH 83

KAKEGURUI CHAPTER 83 SPOILERS‼️‼️‼️‼️

SO!!!!!!!!!!!! RECAP!!!!!!! as i’ve said before, when the twins were born they were both given dice to determine which would be kirari aka clan heir and ririka was relegated to being an extension of kirari. together (even tho it’s more like talking to a mirror at this point), they decide they wanna destroy the momobami clan (epic 😎). at this point the entire bami clan (besides twins and yumeko ofc) is out of the election since terano and yumi lost in fasciation hall. terano says she’s willing to bet kirari doesn’t want things to go her way and says there’s only 4 ppl who have a chance of winning realistically: kirari (578 votes), ririka (166), mary (250), and yumeko (1019!!!!!). ibara is like ‘i had no idea ririka had that in her!!!’ referring to the war game and rin says that ririka is clearly set on winning the election. miyo insults mary lol but says she has a strong drive and never bends her will and says she could learn from that (growth!). terano says yumeko is the most ‘jabami’ person she knows, much more than her sister and ominously says that she could be the one who ‘swallows up this entire election’.

this is pretty crazy......it’s interesting to see what the bami clan thinks about the election now that they’re all out.....this chapter is called dazzling girl PART 1 so obviously next chapter is gonna be part 2 and i theorize that the twins aren’t gonna start the gamble yet but talk about how ririka has changed YAYYYY also the fact that terano said yumeko might swallow up the election....the snake imagery is not lost on me there.....snakes swallow things whole....jabami might mean snake eater literally but maybe it means a devourer who is a snake instead of a snake eater....i mean there are many panels of the manga where yumeko looks like a snake......i feel like this is a dumb observation but whatever...THINGS R GETTING WILD‼️‼️‼️‼️ i’m so excited for twins gamble YAAAAAA

Summary: Chamberlain Yuuri Katsuki has grown into quite a hard-working young man. He's efficient, really, and surprisingly strong (at least when it comes to hauling ridiculous heaps of laundry, and trapping the likes of royalty within his arms on a whim). Although considerably quiet, irrational and paranoid, one thing's for sure: all he wants to do is see the gorgeous blooming of The Royal Azalea. What happens when someone interrupts his way there, in a partially concerning, and definitely suspicious way?

"...What do you say?"

Yuuri could only stare at the prince; entranced by his words alone.

Not like he wasn't completely floored by other aspects of The Prince Viktor Nikiforov - considering this was probably the only time he'd held more than a three-word exchange with the man, he could barely believe the circumstance he had somehow found himself in.

It was most definitely a dream.

And Yuuri most definitely prayed to any deity that was willing to listen, that he would wake up.

Any time now.

See, Yuuri was more than horrified that he had not only touched the prince in an unwarranted manner, but that the prince was set on thanking him for it!

His gaze trailed tragically along the extended arm laid out before him (since when had that happened?), as if his majesty had expected for Yuuri to take his hand and ride into the sunset with him in a golden carriage, like a damned princess.

And the chamberlain, quite unfortunately, knew he was anything but.

Yuuri retraces his steps, recalling how exactly he had found himself face to face with the crown prince of Vreosia, who was next in line to take the throne and become king.

It had been quite a long day.

And Yuuri was more than ready to fall asleep on the hard, cold, so very cold, floor of the corridors.

For he had insisted for some unknown reason, that he were to cover for Guang-Hong Ji - who had not incidentally, no, purposefully, attended to his own chores in the castle.

For the last three days that is.

How had he not been caught?!

Yuuri couldn't help the small, indignant screech that had echoed the walls of storage room when the launderer had first cornered him, early in the morning, begging for help. Supposedly, he had been sneaking around the castle to meet one of the guards. What was his name, Lenny? Lucas? No, it was...Logan...? Wait! Leo!

Anyway, their schedules had never lined up, so Ji had risked it all for a little rendezvous.

It was basically love at first sight, he had whispered dreamily.

Yuuri couldn't help but roll his eyes at that, and yet a subtle smile graced his lips lovingly.

And because of his golden heart, he had thus agreed to finish up Ji's aborted chores around the castle.

With the condition, of course, that this would never happen again, and Ji would do his own chores from now on.

The launderer had agreed with much reluctance, to which Yuuri had responded with a light sigh and a general 'if you want to see that soldier again, you're going to have to put the work in - and not get into trouble'.

Much to Yuuri's dismay, there was a lot more to do than he had first expected.

He could barely fathom the pile of dirty sheets in the corner of the spare bedroom Ji had ended up secretly leading him to - it was almost as tall as him for goodness' sake!

Not to mention the additional list that his friend had sheepishly handed him: an entire two pages.

If Phichit saw him now, he'd never hear the end of it.

Three days worth of tasks, and Yuuri had exactly one day to do them all.

He was going to die.

And probably by suffocation of laundry.

Luckily, he did not.

He had just managed to sweep the floors of the spare bedroom and change the linen of the bed as dusk so elegantly arrived. Getting rid of the evidence was far too demanding, though Yuuri swallowed his complaints; he would never in a thousand years jeopardise Ji or himself for being caught for something as menial as a failure to do the laundry.

Prior to that, he had laboriously struggled with said laundry, the whole day consisting of his efforts to drag ridiculous masses of extravagant cloths down to the laundry rooms to be washed.

It was laughable, Yuuri concluded, how an entire castle full of at least fifty, had enough riches to provide for them all - and yet it was spent only on such materialistic values, that just the royal family could actually use or even touch.

Yuuri shook his head, he needed to hurry up. He had been planning to make way to the gardens for weeks now - but hadn't had such a chance. Especially with having to tend to Ji's overlooked errands.

The maid sighed as he paced through the halls, away from the bedrooms and further downstairs. The Royal Azalea were rumoured to bloom quite beautifully during the springtime, and as luck would have it, the castle gardens had quite the selection. Though in the three quiet years that he had been working for the royal family, he'd never been able to actually take a look.

Once, Phichit (a very close friend who he had first met when he started working in the castle) had recognised that the Rhododendron Schlippenbachii were quite so extravagant.

Trust Yuuri to avow shamefully that the binomial name of this flower had slipped through one ear of his and out the other.

But to Yuuri's relief, Phichit had also disclosed the more manageable name, albeit excitedly spurting more random facts about the flowers as well, which Yuuri could barely remember.

It was the chamberlain's own fault for becoming friends with someone who specialised in plants, specifically that in the Castle’s herber.

Hurrying slightly, the young man sped almost desperately through the castle - wishing to see the flowers already. He had things to do tomorrow, and God knew that he was too impatient to miss the blooming for the third time in a row.

He continued, carefully watching out for any patrols - as a now usual resident of the castle, and a working maid of so, he was nonchalant. He thought about which route to take, knowing that conveniently, going through the kitchens would be quicker and there would be less a chance of being stopped by guards outside. Yuuri shuddered: he wouldn't know how to explain himself if that happened.

"Oh, I just wanted to see The Royal Azalea in bloom, so I snuck out of the castle after dark! Which violates the rules of the castle, because you probably mistook me for a barbarian or worse! Not like you can get worse than that or something. But either way, that meant having to leave your posts to chase me down! What a waste of time and space!"

Now that he had reflected on it, there was actually nothing to think about.

He headed straight to the cookery.

As he skipped stealthily into the aisle leading to the kitchens, his breath caught. He stiffened. His eyes glued relentlessly to the back of a silhouette that creeped through the large, umber doors and into the kitchens.

A-a thief?

Yuuri shook his head.

No. There was no way a thief could've managed to sneak through the guards. Not with the new recruits...

Then Yuuri painfully remembered, most had little to no training nor experience, for the castle had been suffering a shortage of soldiers for quite some time now. Vreosia had always been a peaceful kingdom, but with new threat now arising from a nearby domain and its ruffians, the royal family had decided to take precautions - blindly, if Yuuri could say so much, taking in as many willing volunteers and making them swear their loyalty over to the Nikiforov's.

The chamberlain winced. He squeezed his eyes and counted slowly.

1...2...

This wasn't his responsibility.

...3...4...

He should just make a run for the maid's quarters; pretend he saw nothing.

...5...6...

He didn't want any trouble.

...7...8...

He was only a maid.

...9...

He'll probably die if he followed them.

Yuuri sighed in frustration. A long and deep exhale gushed out of his nostril and onto the cupid's bow of his lips.

He continued after the mysterious shadow.

In doing so, he slipped through the doors leading into the cookery, and watched discreetly, as the offender passed the island in the middle - their silver hair gleaming in the moonlight that squeezed through the cracks in between hanging cutlery, and from the mighty window beside.

Wait-

-silver hair?

Silver, as in...

Yuuri gasped against his will. He quickly covered his mouth in disbelief, the realisation hitting him square in the face like a brick.

It was Viktor Nikiforov.

No, it was The Viktor Nikiforov.

The Prince Viktor Nikiforov: beloved by the entire kingdom for, well, everything.

Not only was he, for lack of better words, Prince Charming - but he was also the same man who had given Katsuki Yuuri quite a memorable first day at the castle.

With that, Yuuri recollects, the time he had witnessed Prince Nikiforov get absolutely hounded by both the King and his advisor at what was barely sunrise, for sneaking out of boundaries at such a late time.

Yuuri had spent the day being somewhat awkwardly showed around by none other than Phichit and Guang-Hong Ji, as well the the Steward; Georgi Popovich.

And funnily enough, the day didn't exactly end there.

He giggles, barely audible, as he remembers the way the entire castle had been awoken by Yakov's uninterrupted reprimanding, along with the King's very audible (so much so that it was slightly concerning) sighs and face palms.

All the staff, now disturbed from their slumber, stayed curious and intrigued in the lower chambers of the castle. They had somehow managed to convince Yuuri and Phichit (mostly just Phichit who had tugged Yuuri along without much pity) to go and see what the fuss was all about.

The two had made their way to the Great Hall, where Prince Nikiforov was sitting at a marvellous table, surrounded by the King and who Yuuri had assumed to be the prince's advisor, Yakov. He also remembers the four other guards present in the room, who seemed to shrink away as Yakov continued to yell in absolute annoyance.

He doesn't remember what exactly they had been discussing, but Yuuri reminisces the bored look on Viktor's face - but also dwells on the underlying fear that had been ever-present in his body language.

He goes as far as to think about the fact that he swears the crown prince had saw him then, behind a small entrance to the left, where he had hidden stupidly with Phichit: who seemed content staying in the corner behind Yuuri, listening carefully to the gossip but shielding himself away from the source - much to his exasperation.

With a hesitant flinch that became a full turn of his head, he remembers the way his highness' eyes had widened ever so slightly at him; the unmistakable eye-contact.

Curious blue eyes that glinted magically in a dizzy haze - an almost taunting look that beckoned Yuuri from the darkness. He also remembers the vague purse of his lips, a thin line that the maid couldn't help but fantasise about. Not to mention his shining hair and smooth-looking skin.

He wonders briefly what it would feel like to hold his face in his hands.

He's never told anybody about this.

Not Guang-Hong Ji, nor Phichit - who, as previously mentioned, had hidden behind Yuuri at the time, and so he missed exact moment the prince had possibly seen them, because it had been blocked off from his field of view. And either way, if Yuuri had ever told either of them about his little crush on the blue blood, he'd never live it down. They'd tease and meddle and so on.

The chamberlain was much more content admiring such beauty from afar. Quietly, that is.

And he knew, obviously, he wasn't the only admirer of Prince Viktor Nikiforov: royals and peasants alike.

Yuuri's glad it was almost pitch black in the Hall then, save for a few lit candles that had been placed atop the dining table as well as the one that the advisor had been holding, well, waving around quite dangerously.

If it hadn't been-

He's suddenly snapped out of his thoughts, after hearing an almost silent but nevertheless, shrill creak of a door.

The back door.

Why was Prince Nikiforov...?

Oh...

He was sneaking out.

Again.

Yuuri raised an unimpressed eyebrow - of course, this handsome but likely spoiled brat was intent on getting into more trouble.

He hadn't truly met the man, only exchanging polite greetings when he happened to set foot into the same room as him - a room in which would coincidentally happen to be where Yuuri was carrying out a task of his or two.

This had only happened a measly three times, over the expanse of his near three-year stay in the castle.

He supposes it's not fair to call his majesty spoilt or a brat, or any combination of the two. Not when he at least acknowledged him when he entered the room, unlike other important people who had visited the Nikiforov's kingdom for whatever business.

(And being born into fortune wasn't his fault anyway - it didn't automatically make him the selfish person Yuuri had first prejudiced)

He'd always kept his down during his completion of tasks, though - never fully looking the prince in the eye, minding his own affairs and scurrying away as soon as he'd finished.

He feared that he would be recognised from that night in the Great Hall, a good three years ago - if the royal had truly seen him.

He had taken extra precautions anyway, always avoiding the prince when he could afford to, and dragging someone with him to hide behind when needed. He knows he hadn't let the his majesty get a good look at his face, and yet, it wasn't enough to truly ensure that he wouldn't have registered his face by now. But it was enough to deceptively relieve Yuuri of the constant nagging worry that he'd be punished for eavesdropping on a fairly private matter.

And besides, it wasn't as if he had run into the man in question a countless number of times afterward - again, Yuuri could recall their one-on-one encounters on only one hand.

Even more so, he recounts that there had been a sort of business that the royal family had to attend to over the course of his first week there, meaning that Yuuri and other newly hired staff hadn't been properly introduced. Additionally, they never found the time afterwards, and soon enough two years and three quarters had passed, and no one in the castle felt introductions were quite so needed anymore.

This meant that his majesty hopefully wouldn't recognise him if he saw him, nor would he recall his name.

Yuuri had begun to head back out the kitchen, making a silent promise to visit the flowers tomorrow, when he noted a flicker of black through the corner of his eye.

A shape that had flitted across the expanse of the large window of the cookery.

Out of intuition, Yuuri ran over to the crown prince, wordlessly apologising before yanking him by the shoulders, away from the door and forcing his mouth shut with a single hand.

He had underestimated his own strength - or overestimated the prince's; it seemed that the taller man struggled in his grasp, bending backward to accommodate Yuuri's stand.

Perhaps carrying all that laundry had toughened him up.

The chamberlain stumbled blindly over to the wall behind, grappling against the royalty he had bundled up in his grasp.

It was then that he had begged the Prince to stay quiet, which had somehow proved effective with the sudden stillness of the man.

Or maybe it was because he could now hear the idle chatter of two guards from outside.

Yuuri's fairly sure he heard the name 'Leo'.

The name of the mystery man Ji had been sneaking around to meet. The very man who was probably the reason why Yuuri found himself backed up into a wall, currently giving what might've looked like a back-hug to Prince Viktor Nikiforov, but was instead a strange and sad parody of something more aggressive.

He silently curses him.

Soon enough, the guards had dashed away, and Yuuri had mentally started saying thank you, to who, he wasn't sure - yet, it didn't cease his sudden joy for successfully staying hidden away from said guards.

Yuuri can pinpoint, however, the exact moment it all went to shit.

Prince Nikiforov had half the mind to, all of a sudden, push Yuuri off of him, and pin him down to the wall - reversing their roles of captive and captor.

The maid recalls the initial overwhelming fear that had possessed his body then, and he was certain he was to be executed by dawn.

Who would've thought he'd live to tell the tale?

His lips parted in anticipated response, not yet fully knowing what he wanted to say.

Viktor Nikiforov now knew exactly what he looked like, as well as his given name. All his efforts over the years, gone lay to waste.

He should've minded his own business.

He could try to run as far and fast as his legs would allow, but it would do nothing to aid Yuuri, for the royal family could put a bounty on his head with such information.

Wonderful.

The prince stood, awaiting, arm still stretched out invitingly toward Yuuri, hopeful blue eyes that made the chamberlain feel small.

Yuuri flushes yet again, embarrassed and unsure - the crown prince was quite the charmer, he'd allowed himself to admitwithout much indifference.

It was then that the abrupt clatter of armour could be distinctly heard again, and two out-of-breath soldiers came bustling through the back kitchen door - one pointing accusingly at the maid himself.

"I told you I heard something!"

Quick Thoughts on TRH Book 1, Chapter 13 (One Last Yeehaw)

• It's the chapter everyone's been waiting for! We're pregnant, we get to tell our spouses, we get to tell our friends, we get to tell the courtly ladies, Olivia wears leather, our MCs get to buy a crib for an poppy seed-sized something in their womb that doesn't even know what hands and legs are yet (forget cribs), and the best news of all...WE ARE FINALLLY LEAVING TEXAS!!!!

• Before I start talking about the chapter...storytime!

• Sooo...my first pregnancy was a couple of years ago. And I like telling the story of how I broke it to my husband coz it is pretty damn funny. We'd been trying for two years, and had a couple of times when our tests would be met with a disappointing negative. So by the time I did get pregnant, the hubby was a little wary of hoping too soon.

• I had an inkling just before my periods were expected to arrive, because I found myself flopping down on the bed immediately after work, without even making dinner. No morning sickness, no giddiness initially, just constantly feeling so tired. Anyway, hubby insisted I wait a couple days more before a test because he was too afraid of getting his hopes up, and I agreed.

• I took my test around 4 or 5 that morning? And had to wait a couple minutes for the lines...and THERE WERE TWO. Do you really think I could keep such news to myself for more than ten seconds?? (even that was too much). Of course I was going to shake poor hubby awake and show him the test.

• It took five vigorous shakes to wake the poor guy up, and as soon as he was somewhat awake I shoved the test in his face (I was excited ok! 🙈) forgetting that without his glasses he couldn't see shit (very high power). "I can't see anything," he said sleepily, so I gave him his glasses. Ensuing conversation went as follows.

H: There are two lines.

Me: Yeah...sooooo...? 😀😀

H (sudden realization what two lines are supposed to mean): OMG there are two lines??? *sleepy smile*

Me: YES. I'M PREGNANT.

H (weakly): Yayyyy. (pause)...can I go back to sleep now?

Me: But what will I do???

H: You also sleep.

Me (running on sheer adrenaline now) : I CAN'T SLEEP I JUST FOUND OUT I'M PREGNANT.

H: Oooookay. (is too sleepy at this point to process anything).

Me: (excitedly hops over to Google at 5.20 in the morning and types out "I'm 4 weeks pregnant now what")

LMAO. That first pregnancy was quite something.

• The chapter begins with the MC sending her spouse a text. Depending on whether you mentioned a surprise, mentioned that you need to have a talk or texted emojis instead, the LI will react accordingly.

• With the surprise option, the LI flirts with her. With "we need to talk", they appear tense and believe she's angry with them. The emoji option is the funniest, coz the MC sends a string of emojis with the last one being this: 🍞, and the LIs are confused and referencing the bread (I've seen only two routes of this one - Liam talks about the Cordonian Baker's Festival which will only happen after a couple months, and Hana speaks about a bread course). The MC is puzzled at first, then gets to choose how to tell her spouse the news.

• AAAAAND NOW THEY KNOW.

Liam: Ecstatic and excited at the thought of holding his own child in his arms. Immediately after, he worries over the preparations they will need to make, the childproofing of the throne room and the things they will need to get ready, and it is the MC who calms him down.

I personally love that the narrative makes a mention of Liam "recentering himself" here, because it does show me that this is a rare display of raw emotion, of Liam letting go of his control, and you get a glimpse of what calming down for him looks like. Wish it hasn't taken four books to actually muster up the effort to write that.

Hana: One of the sweetest reactions ever - "We're going to be moms?" and a hearty squeal after that. She then becomes emotional and teary, cries with joy. There's some gentle teasing of each other where they call each other "cute", and then Hana tells her she's so glad she gets to share both this moment and this entire journey of pregnancy with the MC.

Hana doesn't show many signs of her intensive planning in this particular scene, because this - again - calls for raw emotion where the LI basically forgets their "normal" and truly savours that moment, but we do see signs of the same type of planning in other scenes.

Maxwell: WHOOPS with joy and excitement as soon as he realizes. Wants to scream out the news on a mountaintop. He promises the MC that their family will be the most awesome, most fun one that the kingdom has ever seen.

I love how Maxwell's overall vibe in this chapter seems to reflect his family situation - he definitely wants to be the exact opposite to his own child what his father has been to him. It's a pity they don't explore that enough.

Drake: Wild with joy, can't stop grinning. But also worried about whether he is being careless with the MC and is overly concerned for her. Calls her not just by her surname but also her first name. I wonder if that should be added to my Book 1 tallies 😂

• That TRR lullaby music is going to be played so much after this that we'll eventually get sick of it. I know it. I know it already.

• The LIs also get to check in with the MC about how she's feeling, and you as the reader get to decide how she is feeling at the moment (ecstatic, nervous, scared?). We also get the option to decide when to break the news to our friends (at the reception itself, or the next morning at breakfast). I think enough of us had an axe to grind with Savannah and Bertrand for the stunt they pulled (with our help) last book, that most people slammed that "reception" button like their lives depended on it.

• The LIs also act in different ways before their friends find out about the pregnancy:

Liam and Hana both dote on the MC, and Hana specifically keeps the MC's dietary restrictions in mind (gets sparkling water/orange juice in place of champagne/mimosas, asks about caffeine content/salmon during breakfast - this varies depending on when you make the announcement). With Drake, the group figures out that he has something on his mind because he's grinning nonstop, and Maxwell tries really really hard to hint at the MC's pregnancy by using phrases like 'bun in the oven' and 'expecting', and gives up in frustration when no one catches on.

• There are three ways you can tell the news to the group - if you're at the reception, you can leave them to guess, get the LI to announce via loudspeaker or scream it out. If you're at home, the same three options except the second one is simply the LI delivering the news in a more low-key manner.

YOU'RE SUCH DORKS ISTG.

• Bertrand is happy for us but Savannah is surprisingly (to my great joy) nowhere to be found.

• CELEBRATORY DIAMOND SCENE. For 30 diamonds, which is usually reserved either for finales or turning-point diamond scenes. Again, these scenes deal with the newness of it all, the jubilation, the end of a (not very long, actually) wait, and the LIs get to talk about family.

•

The sex part is 🔥 🔥 🔥 as usual, but the parts that really justify the 30 diamonds we're spending come before and after that. Each LI, as I've mentioned before, responds differently, but the thread that connects them all is the awe and wonder at this new life, and their plans and worries for the future (Good. You all should be worried if Olivia's diamond scene is anything to go by).

- Liam: In the pre-sex portion, the focus is on celebrating this moment they have alone - as parents - together, because once this news is brought out to the world, both they and their child will be thrown into the spotlight. I have spoken in this essay about the kind of upbringing royal children tend to have and the lessons they unknowingly learn in that environment. Liam has gone through this, he is aware his child will go through it too, but he wants the child to have as normal a life as he as a father can provide. This is clear in the last portion of the scene, where he touches the MC's stomach, marvels at the life they both created and - as per the MC's choice - communicates with said child. My favourite option of course is the lullaby, because it's one that Eleanor used to sing to him - and it is interesting how a lot of Liam's memories of an actual parent, doing actual parent-things, is of his mother.

- Hana: In the pre-sex portion, she speaks about how nervous they've both been over whether this pregnancy would happen and the pressure from the court, and how excited she is that that moment is finally here. When the MC asks her if she is nervous or scared, Hana tells her that even though everything that has led up to this (leaving her parents, having a new life in Cordonia) has been unknown and scary, knowing that they will finally have their own family outweighs "all the worries in the world". In the last portion of the scene, they flirt playfully, leading Hana at some point to wonder about whether they should set ground rules if the child is going to be such a charmer. She's already got a whole range of things prepared - from a pregnancy kit to snacks and drinks appropriate for the MC's condition - but the MC encourages her to relax and not worry too much. You can tell that Hana is already in the zone of wanting to be a better parent for her child than her own.

- Maxwell: I find the Maxwell version of this scene really interesting this time, because it deals with both his struggle to change for his child, and his struggle to NOT be the kind of father Bartie Sr was (finally they address this!). The first part of the scene involves Maxwell being his usual excitable self, wanting to scream the news from the rooftops then realising that it might be too risky for his wife. He speaks of wanting to "rewire" himself into "Good Dad mode". The last portion is especially poignant, because he speaks both of what a life without the MC would have been life (an enjoyable Beaumont Bash, but one where he is forever searching for someone, and feeling constantly lonely, like something is missing in his life), and he also promises his wife that he will be the kind of father who will learn and grow from his mistakes, and who will be there whenever his children need him most, not just drop by on the day of their child's wedding.

- Drake: Drake also falls back into old-habit before getting into father-mode - he mentions celebrating with drinks before realizing the MC cannot have them. The MC gets to choose either a non alcoholic beverage or a massage, and as far as I have seen the massage comes with yet another family story about his father massaging a particular spot in his mother's shoulder that would easily tense up. It astounds me how much effort the writers make into making Drake's scenes and exchanges so much more personal than the others. Like the others have their moments in this scene too - but in their cases such moments are the exception, not the norm. In Drake's it's always the norm.

In the aftermath of the scene, the couple get to discuss how they will bring up their child, even though that child will be heir to Cordonia's throne, and get to choose if they want to bring that child up with a sense of normality, or to appreciate the benefits they get from the royal life. In the end, all Drake wants this child to know at the moment is how much their parents love them.

• We now have brunch, hosted by the newlyweds. If we have not yet announced our pregnancy, Bertrand will simply announce us the way a herald would at a royal event before Savannah teases him for doing so, and if we have, he mentions that we are "celebrating the happy news with them once more". Bertrand speaks of being overly formal when he's very happy, and is even happier to mention the word "wife". That'll last.

• Leona gives Bertrand a cup of bourbon as a reward for the way he stood up to Chuck, claiming that she thought of him as a "pretty boy" who knew nothing, but was impressed by his behaviour on the wedding day. At this point I can only roll my eyes and finally celebrate when Auntie Bitch disappears. We've wasted way too much time than necessary on Drake's shitty family.

• If you haven't announced the news, you announce it after this scene. There are a few slight changes, esp the drinks mentioned in certain cases because the brunch is a more relaxed atmosphere than the reception so the food and drink items mentioned are pretty low-key. But everything else is pretty much as is.

• Bertrand and Savannah have a honeymoon to plan, which means we will finally get a break from them too, and Bianca asks us what we're planning in order to celebrate the news. Maxwell suggests getting a gift for the new arrival (9 months before arriving), and Savannah suggests they go to the general store and get something from there. The MC is nervous, because she wasn't exactly planning to meet Cassidy West again. Thankfully, he isn't at the store, so she's pretty safe 😂

•

All the LIs have items they will check out with their friends/wives, but the scene varies related to who the MC married. Minimally in most cases, quite a bit in just one. As usual.

Maxwell shows us baby socks, and realizes that this child is a "miniature human" who will have small-sized everything. Virtually nothing changes in this scene except for Maxwell calling the child "our baby" instead of "yours" in his own playthrough. Everything else is disappointingly identical.

Hana shows us a toy tea set (it's still early days but Hana tells the MC it will be fun to practice and to think of the treats the child can eat from that). If you are married to her, she gets a single line referencing the childhood scene where she waited in vain for her mother at her own tea party.

Liam's scene is the one wit the diamond option - as the King of Cordonia whose entire country's future rides on this child, he is the one who gets to show the MC (+ LI in their respective playthroughs) the crib. There are two variations in this scene - the ones where Liam speaks about "our heir". Other than that, very little difference (though he does mention Constantine in one line later, so I guess that's a plus).

Drake shows the MC a wooden rocking horse. In his friend playthrough, he speaks of the gift as something the child can have to remember "ol' Uncle Drake" by. But if you're married to him, there is a whole set of dialogues where Drake talks of riding horses being part of the Walker DNA, and there is a reference to the secret wedding (riding off into the sunset), and there is interactive banter between the MC and Drake that you don't see much of in the other playthroughs. I wish I could say I'm surprised.

• I mean...seriously??? Maxwell gets NO OTHER VARIATIONS??? Hana's mention of her mother never coming to her tea parties isn't even followed up by a line expressing comfort from the MC????

• Just as we got there options for our nursery decor, we also get three options for the crib (classic, royal, forest fairytale). The royal option is lavish, all gold and cream, and the fairytale option is whimsical, wood finish and the same patterns of forest animals and flowers and leaves as the walls. The classic option is, like its corresponding decor, "very neutral. very baby".

• We exit the shop as quickly as we can either because Maxwell broke a trampoline (in the Liam, Hana and Drake playthroughs), or Hana dropped some teacups (in Maxwell's playthrough).

• Once we're done shopping, we get a call from Olivia, who is at our estate in Valtoria, asking us for the most precious thing in our room. But before she can ask, we tell her we're either furniture shopping or pregnant. The option the writers want us to be choosing is "pregnant", because there's a scene where Olivia secretly happy-cries for us when she learns the news. We can agree to loan her either some fancy shoes, our engagement ring (in the Maxwell playthrough, apparently, there is a reference to the twig ring he made back at the beginning of Book 3) or the Cordonian Royal Sceptre. She isn't sure if she'll come back alive, so she thanks us in case she doesn't.

• The ensuing Olivia diamond scene comes with a chance to figure out what Olivia is upto, an advantage over Auvernal, and a tiny hint at a Nevrakis name for TRM.

• I must say, the writers never cease to go all out for Olivia. Even over the female LI that should have been treated like a co-protagonist. And it's tiring because yet again I'll have to see half the fandom drag Hana just so they can drool over the white girl (in fact I already have).

• Olivia's sprite on the left side of the screen...is going to take some getting used to. It's disorienting. But it's fine after a second one!

• Anyway. She is now at a casino in Monte Carlo, meeting up with Bradshaw and Isabella. She's clearly in super-spy mode, since she refers to the King and Queen of Auvernal as targets rather than their names or titles. She has a better edge over the two if she is honest about her intentions and doesn't pretend she just bumped into them.

• Bradshaw speaks about King Liam sending his 'attack dog' to them and 'not doing his own dirty work' which is hilarious considering this man is from a militaristic society yet doesn't even know the C of combat training and has never done anything besides strategizing.

• Isabella always delivers her stinky, unwarrented opinion as if it holds any weight or has any relevance. In Olivia's case, she mentions Anton's marriage contract with Olivia and wonders aloud how the Queen/Duchess still trusts her enough to allow Olivia in her inner circle after that. All three options to push back at Izzy are 🔥 but my favourite one is "you look like you know all about poor judgement" (which is true, look at who she married).

• Olivia then gambles with Bradfraud and Stinkybella, with whatever the MC chose to give her as stakes. The best option is to simply call Bardfraud on his bluff, because he folds easily. Depending on whether Olivia wins or loses the game, he either asks the guards to place the item in the penthouse, or to get more funds from there. Olivia takes note.

• She then has to make sure she nicks the key to the penthouse from Stinkybella, either by acting tipsy or by coming closer to her for an "awkward hug". Both do the job.

• She learns the following from the penthouse:

- Bradfraud and Stinkybella stay in separate rooms, which means things "aren't as rosy" between them.

- She finds a letter of rejection, doubtless from another royal couple, and this is an indication that they aren't as popular as they pretend to be.

- She finds a map of a land she doesn't recognize (is it Monterisso? Olivia would recognize a map of her own country...and neighboring countries...but who am I fooling it's not like team TRH concerns themselves with such ridiculous things as logic!), which has troop formations on it. They're planning something called Operation Swan. I've heard of "Black Swans" and "Swanning About" used as military terms, but there's not a lot I understand from this. Perhaps this leans more towards a "black swan" idea - where they will launch a surprise attack with a nation they are allying with? IDK.

- Basically, we have enough leverage to win against these two, thanks to Olivia's work.

• In any case, someone comes to the room, and Olivia is on the verge of getting caught. So she'll need to scale her way down.

• This shows us if you have Olivia pray to her ancestors for wings:

• If you don't choose to scale down, Olivia will land on the pool instead, but even then she makes it out okay. She decides to keep an eye out because Bradfraud and Stinkybella could pose as a problem for Liam and the MC.

• Olivia is operating on her own, as far as she has told Bradfraud, but the possibility that Liam is aware of what she is upto still exists. And the MC has no clue even if she is Liam's wife because:

a. The writers are too lazy to code this for Liam, and

b. It's not like the MC puts any effort into finding things out anyway

• We're now leaving the Walker Ranch, a couple hours later, and saying our goodbyes to Drake's mother and aunt. I heave a sigh of relief at the fact that there's no additional "memories" from Bianca become this family has gobbled up enough of our attention. Seems like their horrible attitude was really about the money they didn't get after all (it's a fair gripe to have, but doesn't exactly warrant the attitude they've been throwing around).

• Leona still acts like she did us a huge fucking favour hosting us, even though she was an awful host and seriously deserves to lose her ranch. Bianca tries to be civil but no apologies from her for allowing her son in law to be treated like crap until his wedding day. Seems like all Walkers have a habit of expecting civility from others while giving none.

• Bianca asks us to keep in touch and I'm pretty sure a huge chunk of the fandom said "no way in Yeehaw Hell".

• Liam continues to be mysterious with regards to what Olivia is up to, and Esther - who I HC'd as inquisitive - seems not to care enough to ask more.

• The LI tells us, as we leave, that Kiara, Penelope and Madeleine will be traveling in the jet with us, and it's up to us to decide how we break the news to them. If you own corgis, that features as an option. Two of the options (writing on a cake and announcement by corgi) come with a simple "Coming Soon...The Royal Heir", but the charade one is my favourite 🤭

• Penelope is that particular Drake/Walker Ranch stan who loved the time we spent at the ranch and Kiara is the rest of the fandom, who would much rather be in Cordonia than cooling her heels in Texas.

•

AAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA.

The MC then tries another charade, one that resembles cradling a baby in her arms, which Kiara takes to mean "American football" (thank God they don't force Cordonians to call it "soccer" anymore), Madeleine takes to mean "a common pirate jig" and Penelope somehow gets the guess right (though Kiara is the one who straight-out says it).

• The ladies are ecstatic, and congratulate us. Penelope calls for drinks, but Kiara has the common sense to add that the drinks should be alcohol-free. Madeleine informs us of the events lined up for us, including the Apple Ball which will doubtless be the ball we will be attending in the finale.

•

There's a small private moment where the LIs dote over the MC more than necessary, wanting to pamper her and keep her in comfort. The MC calms them down, convinces them that they have a very good support system/are a great team together who can achieve anything.

• Mara still finds out about the pregnancy via Maxwell scouring the online shops for corgi-themed onesies even when he is the father. Which makes sense. It's still Good Dad Mode 😁

• In the tiny space of time it took between Madeleine finding out we were pregnant and us talking to people, she managed to schedule a conference for the same day! At least let us confirm the pregnancy with our docs???

• Plus, announcing this early, even if you're not royalty, is pretty risky. You're mostly advised to not disclose it too soon because the first trimester can be a little risky. And there are also cases where your first ultrasound turns out to not be that happy moment where you see that yolk sac and hear its heartbeat, or an ectopic pregnancy 😔. I recall reading about it on pregnancy forums before my first ultrasound (and stressing, but I had to be prepared) and not being satisfied until I confirmed it for myself.

• The writers and the readers know she'll be pregnant because that is what the story is, but perhaps if the team hadn't wasted so much time on the Walker Ranch, they'd at least not have to hurry like this.

• Actually...no. "Hurrying" would be the wrong word. Because they're going to stretch the press conference itself to like two chapters, it seems like. Basically they will spend time on everything that isn't important to the story as long as it's important to their pet character.

• The summary of Chapter 15 (CHAPTER FUCKING FIFTEEN. We're stuck at the beginning of all this even by CHAPTER FIFTEEN) speaks of the press conference heating up, so I'm having an inkling that there will be some pretty heavy stuff being asked in between? Maybe with regards to alliances, or a new scandal, or something else. But it's not going to be easy at all, that much is pretty clear. It's going to be frustrating and there's going to be stuff that will anger the LIs I think. I could be wrong, though.

• Overall this chapter does better in terms of variations even though they still do beef up Drake quite a bit over the others. But at least Liam, Hana and Maxwell get the rare opportunity to briefly address the mistakes (too small a word for what they've done) their parents have made. It's still not enough though. Esp considering the last 9 chapters have seen such an overall of Walker history and Drake's memories and the others have barely a handful of chapters to catch up.

• Sometimes I wonder if Olivia's independent investigation is also fueled by her desire to be so different from her parents and aunt as to wipe out the memory of their betrayal through her deeds. I do wonder if she will burn herself out completely in the process. She is made of sterner stuff than that, I know, but the determination she was showing in this scene and in the last few chapters was on another level.

• I wonder if we will get intel on Monterisso as well (I don't fully trust Amalas yet), or whether the narrative plans to establish this country as the underdog we will be supporting. Who knows. But I'm sure we will see more of that country in further chapters as well.

You analyzed audiences in the past, right? Is it true we're hitting the lowest ratings ever in these recent episodes or it's just an exageration? I know ratings seem to be a science on themselves so I would like your opinion on the subject. Also, is there somewhere I can read that "Profound bond" book? Or at least part of it? I love GA stories.

Oh god here we go. And that’s not at you, it’s “Shut the fuck up Cereal Club, you’ve already had literal executive producers explain this shit to you and you deny it” – not your fault but it sure is theirs for continuing to circulate it.

Okay so first note – I’m going to be shorthanding this. ALL RELATED DISCUSSIONS AND CHARTS CAN BE FOUND ON THE #RATINGS HASHTAG.

TLDR: It only sucks like that if you think *literally the entire television universe is collectively having the lowest ratings ever*

TV has been on the decline since… like, TV started. Because one channel became 2 and then there was about 50/50! And then 2 became 4, and it was 25! And then 8! And then cable! And the 2008-9 digital mandate enaction Misha somehow kept this show from falling in the toilet over while show cancellation rates doubled in that period while TV figured out what the FUCK was going on and why THEIR ratings were falling. That’s HOW Supernatural vaulted so much and finally entered top like, 100 discussion on the regular and very quickly by S5 top 50. And then DVR! And then digital! *Digital doesn’t even track by Neilsen methods*

Here have a chart of nielsen ratings average since TV started.

Why yes, there WAS a time when Nielsen was regularly clocking a 40.x average. By the time people were watching TV around Y2K it had dropped beneath 10. By 2005, 10 was a hit. And so on. Q3 of 2010 with the digital boom/smartphones, you name it.

The unilateral ratings collapse is so bad that some networks have *said they’re going to stop reporting Live+SD ratings on certain slots or products by 2020*. CBS has had pissing matches with Nielsen over if their services are even worht putting money on anymore. The average ratings on thursday nights across the board in the general primetime slot, if you remove sports which the nation still DOES watch live, is averaging like a 0.7 right now. 

That may sound like greek, but basically, the average back when SPN started was like… 6. Which is why the show was in so much jeopardy all the time.

In terms of performance with the rest of the world, S15 I don’t have an average on yet and I’m just far too tired to go through that before even midseason, but I can get you a chart of the last 14 years as compared to the rest of the world’s loss, including from other shows in the same time period.

CW has always been a small network. The above works on making aggregates of all TV ratings by year and using it to make a median of what qualified as average performance on the year. But the thing is, you go look at Grey’s Anatomy? It started at was a 9.x. It’s now like “YAYYYY WE MADE A WHOLE 1.2 TODAY GOOD WORK GUYS T_T” -- and if you haven’t noticed THEY ARE ONE OF THE LEADERS IN LIVE RATINGS RIGHT NOW.

SPN looks stable from this size, but when we come to realize that it’s USED to running about ¼ the ratings of other shows, let’s like, take this into perspective without being shrunk by Big Brother Networks

SPN’s performance currently is *roughly* in the areas of seasons 4, 5, 8. And frankly, this was almost a matter of time thing with fewer and fewer people willing to hop into a show this late.  The amount of “high” Dabb has managed to keep SPN riding, which since S11 has been at performative base with the high buzz premiere season (that… quickly dropped as you can see). There’s also that S9 success bump I told you about, and LOL S7. You’ll notice it inarguably still performed better than S2, 3, 6, and 7 (and frankly, the back half of 1, but that’s rounded up due to Shiny New Show Buzz early before the ratings dropped in half)

If you explore my ratings tag, you’ll see a lot of talk about this history, be it on the show or just general ratings worldwide. But if you google something like “TV ratings falling” you’ll easily come across things like THIS (x)

There’s expectations that we’re going to lose 55million+ people from the TV universe by 2022 right now, or at least live TV, because digital. Also, as just about every historic projection since 2010 has been wrong and they’re like “EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS” that could very easily end up being like, 60+ million. Cuz. Boomers+ that don’t use their phones and get confused by computers are kinda dying out, and numbers rarely calculate like “rate of death of people confused by gmail”. To put that into perspective, Nielsen TV universe estimates 305.4 million heads across 119.9 million houses. That not-quite-3-heads-per-home base right there, we’re talking about like 1/6th of viewership, entire homes are digitizing, fuckin’ smarthomes are being built with walls that are TVs that don’t hook up to fuckin… Charter unless you LITERALLY are part of their desperate marketing where they’ll literally fund a smarthome renovation JUST to keep you in their TV universe. 

Nah fam. Alexa turn on Netflix alexa play supernatural *washes dishes to imax shit*

Anyway, back to center (because yes, this still IS the shorthand version, if you wanna find the source material, you can navigate the years of posting)

If we were to take seasons 1-14 and modulate them in reverse to the rest of the TV universe curve, S1 etc would look like this in order:

The highs and lows are part of the respective average performer across networks. 100 is always “average”. However, “Average” on the CW is always a different affair.

25-34: Marginal for CW35-44: Solid for CW45+: Hit for CW

So… lowest ratings ever? Lmao no not unless you yell that at the whole TV world. But declined a bit in scale? I mean, yeah. Live, mostly. Digital calls, AFAIK, are still doing fine.

Even still the live ratings dropping that sliver wouldn’t… dramatically… matter. As you’ll find if you actually do dig back in my blog, on average performing TV shows, digital and +3 DVR viewing is already more than 4x the volume of any given show’s ratings on *average*

And… SPN isn’t average. It’s been in the top 20 digital leaders in the likes of Walking Dead and Game of Thrones and a bunch of DC properties since about S11~ (positions 19, 18, 16 S11, 12, 13 – I haven’t dug up 14′s yet but I HIGHLY doubt their digital call just *STOPPED and bounced 100% in reverse* lmao)

Realistically, the volume of SPN’s calls puts its digital audience S11-13 at about 20x the mass of its live viewership. Netflix, hulu, amazon, the CW app, *gestures off into the distance* Digital ways to make ad revenue that aren’t clocked by nielsen, but are measured in other ways. So for every 0.3 you see in a live rating, there’s basically a 6.0 equivalent running online. Whereas the average show, even if it has a 1.0 rating it’s managed to hold onto (which is something literally even the biggest shows have to fight to break past these days), it’s more likely to be closer to a 4.0 equivalent online. SUPERNATURAL CRUSH SUPERNATURAL STRONK.

CW has been AGGRESSIVELY marketing to convert people into their digital universe, because they’re digitally focused. Whether that holds out now that the Netflix deal broke, we’ll see.

Snape apologists are so wild with their incessant double tagging.

Congratulations anon! You were the lucky rando anon out of the 10 permeating my inbox that I chose to answer, YAYYYY!

So let's have a little history lesson on this blog and another secret blog that I own shall we?

Around two years ago, I made two blogs, one of which has already been deleted since its useless to me now. I started mass reblogging and liking posts, making a few more to gain followers. I waited for a while to get them to around the same following: 130 or so. THEN, I thought up of an experiment and decided to test this out "Who is more extra/wild? Snape haters or Snape apologists?"

So I posted one post on each account, something along the lines of "Snape apologists/haters are wild......" and tagged them with "Pro snape" and "Snape hate" and whatever not.

On this blog where I said "Snape haters are wild..." I got one reply (which I'll be addressing later) and 10 anons giving me an essay on "why severus snape is irredeemable, death eater SCUM who would rape lily potter and why you're scum for liking him and you should stop because if you like snape you're a rape apologist" (idk how those two correalate but ok moving on) and 1 person come into my inbox being calm and collected, and geniunely asking my opinion and why I liked him we had a nice convo. (Shoutout to that one person, you know who you are. You're pretty chill :D)

On the other blog where I said "Snape apologists are wild..." I had 2 replies (not really worth addressing since they're from snape haters basically saying "lmao bruh you done roast them *crying emoji* *ok sign emoji*"), 4 anons telling me to kill myself (very creative guys), 4 people coming into my inbox asking me why I would think that and being VERY polite in asking my opinion. We also had a nice convo and now follow each other.

Conclusion? Snape haters are fucking wild man.

Now to address the single reply I got on this blog from @theshow-mustgo-on I am sorry if you have been harrassed for that, it's not fair for anybody to be harrassed just because of differing opinions. It's disturbing how far people will go just to defend their opinion on a character, especially if they hate said character. I hope it get's better and the people leave you alone, if they don't blocking them and/or reporting them for harrassment is also an option.

My goal for this wasn't just to "expose" snape haters/apologists (as one of my friends so politely called it), it was also my own experiment to try and settle which side of the fandom I'd like to be in. My conclusion is I don't want to be in either anymore. I have my own opinion on Snape and the fact is having an opinion on a character doesn't judge whether or not I'm a good person. Debates over a character is fine as long as it's backed up with facts, evidence and everyone goes in and out of the debate with a level head. That's never what I see in this fandom, all I see are people screaming their heads off either on why snape is a bad person or why snape is a good person. I'm not saying all snape haters/apologist arguments are never backed up by facts, just most of them aren't.

I'm not saying change your opinion on snape either, hate him or love him, thats your choice. He's a character up for interpretation and everyone sees him differently. Just don't go around attacking people because they don't see him the way you do, it's incredibly scummy.

I'm deleting my original post, mainly because the experiment is over and quite honestly I can't be bothered with the Harry Potter fandom anymore. I love Harry Potter and it'll always hold a place in my heart, I'll probably still reblog a lot of the posts, but I'm out of the fandom. Maybe I'll rejoin when you guys pull your head out of your ass and see that attacking people for their fucking opinion isn't something you should do. (Lmao I talk like I'm some big shot that is gonna topple the fandom if I leave, I'm not. I'm just sick of you guys acting like your opinion is the only thing that's right and everyone else's is wrong. It's childish, get over yourself.)

The church was silent, until someone in the far back coughed a little. 

Everyone was staring at Jim. The pastor, the guests, the groomsmen, and Carol. Carol Marcus, soon to be Mrs. Kirk, was waiting for her future husband to finally utter those two words. The two words that would bind them together for eternity. 

But Jim was silent like the dead of night. 

Stupid, stupid, stupid, he thought.

He couldn’t take it anymore, this is getting out of hand, he thought. 

Putting his feelings for Y/N aside, he tried really hard to be happy about this whole thing, but it was just such an idiotic idea. A couple more seconds and it would be too late. He had to do something before it was too late.

“I repeat, James Tiberius Kirk, do you take Carol Marcus to be your lawfully wedded wife, til death do you part? “

A few more seconds of silence. 

Damn it, Jim!

“No he does not!“

Gasps rang throughout the small church. 

Everyone turned to look at the best man, Leonard McCoy.

Leonard McCoy was not the most patient man, no not at all. Yet, he had put up with this shit for just over 3 years. Three years of watching his two best friends pinning for each other but pretending not to. Three years of watching a stupid blue eyed blond ignore the best thing that ever happened to him, except him of course because if it wasn’t for Bones Jim would be partying with Satan now. 

On one hand, was his best friend since his early days at the academy, on the other, was the woman that anyone would die to be with. Y/N was one of a kind. Although he would never say out loud, he had a small crush on the smart doctor. But Jim, he was completely and utterly in love with her. Worse of all, he didn’t even know it. 

“You heard me. This has gone long enough!“

“Bones-“

“No, you. You just shut up. Just- just shut up. I have watched you lie to everyone and yourself for the past three years. THREE YEARS Jim!! No more! Don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s rainin’, Jim! Stop lyin’! For three years, I had to hear you go on and on about your feelings. And let me tell you this, hearing you yapper about every single argument you’ve ever had with Carol, and about how much you miss being friends with Y/N has not been the highlight of my life. Damn it man, I’m a Doctor not a RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLOR! “

“Bones-“

“Just shut up Jim. I’m not done! Have I told you that you are the stupidest man I know. I don’t even know how I’m friends with you. I must have been really, really drunk the day I first met you. My God, man! For three years, as your best friend, I have put up with this stupid idea, hell, I’ve been doing it since the first time we met. But now, I’m done! There’s an old Georgian saying Jim: “When the Lord was handin’ out brains, that fool thought God said trains, and he passed ‘cause he don’t like to travel”. You’ve been missing out on the woman of your life, your ENTIRE life. You’ve been friends with her for two DECADES and you still haven’t realized that she’s the one for you. If that ain’t stupidity, I don’t know what is.“

He paused for a second. Jim thought Bones was done, so he opened his mouth to say something, but Bones continued.

“Look Jim. If you still want to marry Carol, go ahead but I just had to tell you before you do this. As much as I hate your guts sometimes, you’re still my best friend. I’ll support you, no matter who you choose, but know this. Out of respect, I didn’t make a move on Y/N, and I was sure you would wake up and make your move. But if you marry Marcus, then I’m going for her.“

For once in his life, Jim Kirk was speechless. What does one say to this? 

A few moments passed, Jim’s mind whirled with hundreds of possibilities. 

Finally, he made his decision.

Jim was going to say the two words that would change everyone’s lives for ever.

“I…“

“Captain.”

Jim’s gaze shifted to his trusty First Officer, Spock.

“We have a problem, sir.“

“Now what, Spock! I have to say I-“

“Sir, Starfleet HQ was just attacked. At least 10 people have died, and countless others have been injured.“

“Spock-“

Carol screeched. {A.N Imagine an annoying bird. If you haven’t noticed, I don’t really like her… }

“ON MY WEDDING DAY! Please Mr. Spock, not now. We are about to get married, and-“

“Commander Y/L/N is amongst the injured. I have just received news that she’s in critical condition, and…“

“And? And what, Spock?“

“An old acquaintance of mine is treating her, Doctor M’Benga. He was the one that informed me of her presence in the hospital, and-“

“Straight to the point, Spock!“

Jim wouldn’t say it out loud, but Bones knew he was panicking.

“M’Benga doesn’t know if she’ll make it. Nyota and I are leaving for Starfleet now, you are free to come along, Sir.“

“Jim, I’m going too.”

“Bones-“

“Jim, M’Benga is gonna need all the help he can get. Now the decision is yours, are you coming with us or are you getting married to Carol?“

“I can’t. I’m sorry, I just- I have to do this. I promised her.”

“I’m sorry Carol.“

Yo Cliffhanger, DUNDUNDUNNNNNNNN! Ok so, I had another sleepless night and I have already planned the next two parts. I just have to find the time to write… My aunt is visiting from Ireland, I haven’t seen her in over 9 years… Moreover, I have another aunt and an uncle plus their family and my grandparents coming over this Thursday. They’re staying till next week so I don’t know if I’ll be able to update soon. That is why I’m giving you guys a small gift. Finally, Jim is leaving Carol’s blond butt at the altar! Yayyyy!!!!!
