People act like eddie is a total germophobe baby boy who tried to play the straight man like BRO
He moved to NYC as an adult
Wore a "loud checkered sport jacket" and a gaudy ruby ring
Only didn't stand up to his mother because he didn't think she would listen
PUT HIS ARM IN THE THROAT OF AN OTHERWORLDLY BEAST
He's honestly more stereotypically chaotic than richie
Book!eddie and 1990!eddie are nearly similar and 2010s!eddie is some imposter idk who tf he is

God people don't remember what those early 2010s cartoons were like when watching them. Shows like gravity falls and adventure time didn't just waltz in as post apocalyptic fantasy series, they started out as just normal cartoons with hints of darker things that evolved into having complex plots.
Like, the later plot points and tone of these series were literally edgy fan theories and then they came true. The great mushroom was was a weird out there fan theory. The dimond authority was a weird out there fan theory. Stan having a brother and that brother writing the journals was a weird out there fan theory.
Like you have to understand how extremely weird as well as extremely cool this was. The fact that these were normal cartoons that evolved into having dark multi episode dramatic storylines is something that's so amazing, but gets kind of lost on people who go into it knowing what happened.
This is like if Ed Edd and Eddy was revealed to really take place in purgatory and they went on a well written dramatic arc dealing with demons.

Wait hehe.
Modern au where Eddie has a decent following in social media and is known as both a guy who does ttrpg with a few friends and does cool metal covers of different song genres. He's weird, sure, and will also post two minute video monologues but it's done while camera is mildly unfocused on a worm on the wet pavement, or he'll rant about prog rock and then two minutes later go "I'm sorry my statements on Keith Emmerson were inappropriate and I guess" *pauses and looks off camera* "he totally deserves to be in the rock and roll Hall of Fame" like it's a hostage video and someone made him say it because he looks like he's having a terrible time about it.
Anyways he's an internet funny little man and one day he posts a tiktok or what have you labeled "tfw ur bf is sitting in his platonic soulmate's lap instead of yours" and it's just of Steve sitting sideways across Robin's lap on someone's couch chatting and smiling with her before turning to Eddie and giving a little finger wave.
This is of course met with internet hullabaloo because is that Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley? Famous indie music duo who are also starring in a popular new tv series? Social media weirdos? Beloved and popular and bizarre and memeable? Queer icons RobinandSteve? Was Eddie serious? He was dating thee Steve Harrington?
An hour later Robin tags Eddie in a post that is a video obviously taken from slightly under Steve as the angles are a bit weird, and Eddie can be heard saying "oh my god how could I have forgotten you're, like, really famous how'd I do that Steve! Babe, Stop laughing! It was supposed to be a silly relatable post! You're no better Buckley-hey why are you filming this? My mortification isn't funny!!" While the video is just shaking of Steve curling in on himself and Robin trying to focus on Eddie and you can hear them both cackling over Eddie talking. She captions it "tfw ur QPP's bf forgets you two are famous and that most ppl don't know they're dating. Or didn't, at least"

Why don't more adult cartoons have title cards!? They're such a great way to show additional creative and insane artwork to the viewer before the episode.
Look at these masterpieces. THESE ARE ALL FROM KIDS' CARTOONS.

I'm seriously disappointed that it's almost entirely exclusive to kids' shows. Can you IMAGINE how much more wild they could get if more adult shows had them!?

Growing up as a Cartoon Network fan (still a fan), I watched the entire Cartoon Network Original movie! From Secret of the Omnitrix to Big Picture Show. Recently I saw We Bare Bears: The Movie which was a really good and great way to end the series.
What’s your favorite Cartoon Network movie?

The biggest sin The Its (1990 & 2010s) committed is not realizing Eddie's batshit fashion sense. NO ONE THAT MAN DROVE AROUND THOUGHT HE WAS STRAIGHT HE WORE A GAUDY RUBY RING AND A LOUD CHECKERED SPORTCOAT

this is from the 2010 script and i think it’s vitally important despite not being canon
so bob grey / IT is trying to do richie here right? and i think that is so important because despite the fact that that fact doesn’t align with richie in the novel, it does align with someone else (eddie!)
and so richie being canonly gay in this script is super important because the clues and little scenes pulled from the book r like “oh i’m not stupid for thinking that the blowjob leper scene in the novel symbolizes fear of disease through sexuality”
AND richie’s sexuality actually being in existence here is SO IMPORTANT! in the movie like yeah im eating all the crumbs i can get but he is never outwardly stated as gay.
homophobes still have a way to deny it because it’s not ever said aloud. like i think with a lot of queer coded characters in todays film there’s this issue where their sexualities are just implied.
it’s supposedly a “win win” sort of situation because people can still deny it so nobody can really be mad for inclusivity but people can analyze it!
and i think that’s great i know how to pick up on queercoding considering i’m queer but i wish that there was maybe just a “fuck…i loved him” in the quarry when he’s crying or something idk

When Newton meets Harry.....and Ken meets the other Ken .......where did it happen? NEW YORK during Jonathan Groff Sardi's Caricature Unveiling on May 21, 2024.
This is also a small reunion of red cast, beacuse Jonathan Groff played Ken in Red with Molina, the same role that Eddie played between 2009 and 2010, for which he won the Tony award.
In the other photos Eddie is with, apart Jonathan, Alfred Molina, Krystal Joy Brown and Jennifer Lee!
Jonathan Groff is been honored for his performance in the musical "Merrily We Roll Along" with a caricature at Sardi's.
