While rewatching ducktales, I realised that they looove foreshadowing, they do it all the time, sometimes they even give the whole plot of an episode in the very first scenes without the viewer noticing lol.
Anyway, I realised that they foreshadowed the whole “duke of making a mess” thing that Huey had in the sword of swanstantine episode!
THE THING IS, EVEN on my first watch, I could tell that this was supposed to be a multiple episode arc but they HAD to make it shorter because ducktales was getting cancelled and I’m PISSED. LIKE ALL OF MY FAVOURITE CARTOONS, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE.
DEWEY had his own arc where he’s trying to uncover his mom’s dissaperance with Webby. LOUIE had his own arc where he was struggling with his place in the family and HUEY. DIDN’T.
Ughhh they foreshadowed the Duke of making a mess in the intern episode and even in Scrooge’s birthday!!

Those are BOTH season 1 episodes (I’m not gonna list more foreshadowing because you get my point) SO THEY’VE BEEN BUILDING UP THIS ARC SINCE THE BEGINNING AND THEY DIDNT GET TO CASH IT INNNNN RAHHHHHH 🗣️‼️‼️‼️‼️
When watching the ONE episode where he appears, you could IMMEDIATELY tell that it should’ve been a bigger deal. I mean come onnnn, they enter Huey’s mind scape and there’s a huge closed up door??? With locks??? DUUUDE THAT WOULD’VE BEEN AWESOMMMMEEE
I’m saying all of this but this is just to vent some frustration about how animation shows will just be cancelled without the chance to say all that they’ve wanted to say… and as the one who wants to hear it: *cries and wails and pees on the floor*
Ducktales was planning so many more seasons and only got 3, like every other great animation show nowadays i fear

Pixel art for today based on videogame Duke Nukem Episode 1 Shrapnel City for computer system Ibm Pc Ms Dos. Most first part. About legendary Duke Nukem. It is very interesting arcade. Two dimensional. About aliens. Doctor Proton.
And it has a very nice graphics. Something with the level of Commandeer Keen. It has a very interesting story about doctor Proton from the moon. He should to be very clever. And he decides to conquer Earth. But, with a little evil plans. And, so, it is - first arcade two dimensional games about Duke Nukem. It is sad, that today no one makes this kind of games. And there is no new episodes about first Duke.
And this is my drawing based on Duke Nukem Episode 1 Shrapnel City (MsDos). It is appeared some slimes at the rooftops of the buildings. And by night, some UFO is landing every night at the rooftop. And some strange insects to appear. Which can climb at the craters. And, this way, aliens invasion is start. No one notice it! And it is a plan! Day after day. UFO fly and fly!
Green reptiloids and aliens. Small little humanoids. Or, once again some kind Doctor Proton, Neutron? It is to find out! Everything starts at the rooftop! First level. Rooftop of your hometown. And, in your hands it is energetical gun. Which is developed by your friend scientist. So, it is nice to try it out, is it good for something. To try it with aliens.
To jump by rooftop it is so fun! But this time aliens interrupts you. So, it is good to enter one of these UFO, to get a little of ideas! Beautiful night sky! There is something to look at. Millions of stars. And flying Ufo sausages! Which make a land at the rooftop of the building! It is good to jump from one to another rooftop. And, you know - height is big!
First of all, it is good to find out what is going on! And this is a drawing style of Ms Dos Ega 64 colors. Arcade and 2D!

I'm playing Returnal right now to stave off the Dragon Age craving a few more days and having an absolute blast with the gameplay especially. the combat/gameplay loop is completely my jam it eats my brain very well for hours at a time. The art direction is really striking. but most of all I am entertained and endeared by this game's dedication to depicting a universe where truly no one has ever had a good time ever
#there is a point where horror loops around to comedy and this game merrily does that loop-de-loop for me constantly#it's so dedicated to being grim (a very valid artistic vision/pursuit well executed to be clear!) and I'm just. cackling all the way#it's about trauma in a really diegetic interesting way so again this is not a criticism! just an insight into me as a person I suppose lol#horror and comedy are twins as we all know but I think the turnaround happens at an earlier point for me than for most#returnal#selene might be The most unhinged protagonist I've ever played as. girl you were way too ready to stick that parasite on you!!!#she keeps doing nuts things with a deadpan face I would study her like a bug but I'm too scared of what I might see#this game does the same thing to me as dishonored where I get so fucking focused I forget to move or blink lol#is there anything quite like nailing a series of dodges in difficult 3d action games. no. flow state stays ON#since dragon age seems to be pulling some similar combat approaches it really could be right up my alley fingers crossed!#some similarities to the me:a gameplay too actually which I also loved a lot so like. next mass effect taking notes from returnal maybe???#could we be so lucky#(idk why 2d sidescrollers platformers and fighting games alike not only don't do the same thing for me but makes me actively SO unhappy)

This game is so cute. Alice Escaped is a great deal on steam. Cute bunny girls for Bunny Day and some pretty badass combat.
Usada brings the Melee with a giant piko hammer. Kotora delivers super fast ranged attacks.
I really like frilly outfits, and this game embraces the most important trope: giving a cute character a MASSIVE deadly weapon.
Now you know why Kirby is my favorite character.
This game is worth the 15$ USD!

DoReMi Fantasy: Milon no Doki Doki Daibouken
After Milon’s initial outing in 1986, the character sulked back into the shadows as Hudson prioritized the adventures (and revenges) of Master Takahashi/Higgins and Bonk, their other platformer mascots. But a whole decade later, in the waning years of the Super Famicom, they brought him out for another go with DoReMi Fantasy: Milon no Doki Doki Daibouken (“Milon’s Exciting Adventure”). At this point, obtuse puzzle-adventures like Milon’s Secret Castle were deeply out of fashion, and so instead Hudson decided to make a more straightforward Super Mario World-style platformer. Taking place across seven worlds, complete with a level map screen, Milon must rescue the fairy princess Alis while defeating the wizard Amon, whose subordinates have stolen the magical instruments of his kingdom of Fantasia.

AFTERIMAGE
I'm wrapping up another playthrough of Afterimage. I'm in the very late game. I've clocked almost 40 hrs on this playthrough and I need to share some thoughts. Let's start by saying this is one of my FAVORITE MetroidVania games. I love the artwork, I love the combat, and I love the traversal in this one. I had originally played on switch, but have been replaying on PS5 (portal mode) for the past few weeks. I have mostly ignored the story on the 2nd playthrough and I rarely pay much attention to that anyway. Let's get into my thoughts on the game.
Far from Bite Sized. The map is enormous. I'd say 2-3x the size of Blasphemous or CastleVania: Symphony Of The Night. The sheer amount of areas, bosses, platforming challenges, upgrades, loot, and equipment border on overwhelming. I usually pick the build that I want in the early stages and focus ONLY on that build. This playthrough I'm going with old faithful: dual blades main weapon and whip sub weapon. I like this build because I prefer fast and close combat with a bit of fast distance for my sub. You'll get a vast collection of magic weapons to choose from and you kinda just adjust on the fly to your needs. Very pokemon-esque with the magic. If you're in the fire dungeon, rock or water magic, if you're in a flora area, fire magic; Easy, right? So traversal, roughly 10-12 biomes in the main game with varying enemies with varying difficulty. In true MetroidVania fashion, you'll be skill, ability, and key gated throughout the game. I've beaten the game on Switch and still had to use a reference guide for my current playthrough. There's a LOT of items to find and 30% are well hidden behind walls or gated by a platforming challenge. I currently have over 40 weapons but only 2 are equippable at once. The upgrade system is flawless and responsive. I can tell the MC has noticeable changes when upgrading skills, and I love that. NPCs are there to aid you in your journey and provide you with the side quests necessary for you to upgrade your abilities and loot. There's so much game here, it's easy to get lost.

When I say a big game, there are hundreds of enemy types, and the combat is some of my favorite in modern indie gaming. With 16 achievable endings, and all are possible in a single playthrough, one could easily spend 50-60 hours for a 100%. The story underneath is nothing special, but is intriguing enough to keep you reading dialogue, but with the amount of NPCs, you can easily find yourself transporting around trying to close side quests. But the combat is the chefs kiss, here. Fun, furious, snappy, and animated beautifully. I LOVE traversing and fighting so much that I barely notice I've been playing for hours straight. I cannot recommend it enough.

You are Ree, separated from your mentor, and unsure of your purpose, you set out to find the solution to the mystery of who you are and why you are here. Assisted by your companion, Ifree, you are set out on a journey through a huge world full of strife. You can return to the stream of life when you're felled in battle, and the stream acts as a transport between trees of life throughout the world. The colors are vibrant, and the world is built incredibly well. Once you beat the main game, you're set out on new game+ with new characters and biomes, and yes, it is significantly more difficult.

I tend to prefer a more grim dark aesthetic, but this cutesy aesthetic isn't off-putting. I think I love the game because under the cuteness lies a true MetroidVania. From the rpg elements, to the combat, to the story, it's ALL there. Even though the game is huge, the biomes are different enough to keep my attention for the duration. I definitely think it's worth a play for fans of indie games. I think it's a MUST play for fans of 2d action games, platformers, MetroidVanias, and anime based sidescrollers.
