Hi, I have a friend that really wants to play with vr sculpting, do you recommend using the tilt five, quest 2, or quest 3.
Do you know of any plans to add support for any other headsets?
Also if you want an easier way to display art check these out (holographic displays) https://lookingglassfactory.com/
I’d go with a secondhand Quest 2 if it’s specifically VR sculpting your friend is interested in! though I think the price for a new Q2 dropped recently so either option is a more affordable entry point. 👍
and we wanna be on Apple Vision and maaaayybe also SteamVR so Figmin could run on any PCVR headset… but we’ll see haha
current supported hardware is the Quest line, Tilt Five, Magic Leaps, HoloLens, Vive XR Elite, aaand Android & Apple mobile devices. (if anyone wants to be part of the mobile beta hit me up 👀 we need more testers 👀👀👀)
and YES I know Looking Glass!! I’ve seen their displays and other similar 3d displays in person before and they’re wild.

The next time you’re watching this masterful scene I want you to remember that 3D objects in the computer have no physical properties and can clip through each other without care. Which means that every stretch of skin, every forceful kiss, every tender hand placement, every single physical touch and movement has to be meticulously crafted and executed flawlessly by the animators to ensure that it looks realistic. It boggles my mind at how much work was put into every single frame of this scene and I thank the animators for their service.

how to reality shift
method one: pure awareness
for those who have never heard of it, the state of pure awareness is exactly what it sounds like: pure awareness, detached from the input of your 3D senses, a state where you are no longer grounded to the 3D. this means you will not feel your body, or any surroundings at all. for those who have already heard of it, you may have heard this referred to as "the void state" or "the void", (especially recently,) but i don't like this term as it implies that "the void" is some sort of place that you go to, and it's not. "the void state" is not somewhere you go, it is a state of being and experiencing that you become.
what is the state of pure awareness?
the state of pure awareness is just you. you are your awareness, and the state of pure awareness is just you, without the data and input of your 3rd dimensional senses distracting you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
why does pure awareness help with reality shifting?
when we reality shift, our goal is to find a way to trigger our awareness into a movement in the 4th and 5th dimensional directions. for some, this is easier to do when you are not distracted by the 3D. this isn't because it's impossible to shift while aware of the 3D! on the contrary, lots of people shift while totally awake and aware in the 3D, in either their CR, or their DR, or even both. but for most of us, our awareness is really used to and really comfortable piloting our 3D body here. so perhaps try getting into a state of pure awareness and see if that helps you trigger a shift.
i believe the state of pure awareness is natural, a side effect of the simple fact that the bodies we inhabit are 3D, and our awareness isn't. our awareness is not a 3D object, mass, or body part. you can't point to and say "there it is, that's human awareness." but in our current states, our awareness gets all this input and data about reality from a 3D body.
the reason you see nothing and feel nothing when you're in the state of pure awareness is because when your awareness is not focusing on input from your 3D body, there is nothing for your to "see", "feel" or "hear" and no body for you to see, feel or hear it with. those are 3D concepts, and 3D senses.
how will i know im in the state of pure awareness?
you will have absolutely zero input from your 3D senses. there will be nothing, and yet you will be totally and comfortably aware. that means if your body feels tingly, floaty, dizzy, fuzzy, etc you are not in pure awareness. if you see hallucinations, flashes of light, etc, you are not in pure awareness. if your thoughts are muddled, dreamlike, or confused, you are not in pure awareness. if things change or destabilize into a different dreamlike scene, you are not in pure awareness. if you can feel your 3D body in any way, you are not in pure awareness.
how do i get into the state of pure awareness?
there are many different ways to get into the state of pure awareness. if one way doesn't work for you, please feel free to try another or even make up your own way. now, technically, you don't need a method to do this. because the state of pure awareness is not some place we have to travel to or a locked dungeon we need a secret key to get into... it hypothetically is possible to simply instantly get into the state of pure awareness. ie, to completely let go of 3D distraction, and become pure awareness right now. so, first, i urge you to try it. like, actually. pause your reading, and try to become pure awareness.
did it work?
if yes, congratulations, you've done it! you don't need to read the rest of this, or maybe skip down to the 'troubleshooting' section if you're one of those people who can get into the state of pure awareness but finds they aren't triggered to reality shift from it, and just came back here without being able to shift to your DR.
if it didn't work, do not despair. i think you're fully capable of getting into the state of pure awareness, and it may start to feel more natural and happen with more ease with practice. for now, here are some pointers.
Tumblr media
method 1(a)
meditation. don't let that word scare you off! i'm someone with adhd, and ptsd. in my past, meditation was always spoken about or taught to me in a way that was completely ineffectual for me. i thought meditation just didn't work on me. turns out, all i needed was a method that was accessible for me, and for someone to explain what meditation actually is in first place because it turns out, what i was trying to force my mind to do isn't even needed or isn't even what mediation is. so no wonder why it didn't work! i'm planning to make a much longer "how to meditate" series for those who struggle, but for now i'm going to be fairly brief. if it doesn't work, just move on to 1(b), or 1(c) for now.
step one: choose an environment. it's okay if there are distractions, but it may help you to pick the most comfortable environment possible, whatever that means to you. do you want to be alone? outdoors? in the dark? what position do you want to be in? etc.
step two: relax your physical body, if you can. however this might look for you. can't relax? hold space for your body to relax if it can, but don't force it. some people find it easier to physically relax if they first tense up as hard as they can, and then let it go. this is the stage where some choose to focus on their breathing, do a body scan, etc. once you feel you are relaxed enough, turn your attention away from your physical body. note: this does not mean that your physical body has to stop feeling sensations. your nerves and senses will continue to function, because they always do, and that's their job. that's okay. your goal is not to force your body to be numb and comatose because it won't be. if physical sensations come to your awareness, simply acknowledge them and let it pass you by.
step three: relax your mind, if you can. however that might look for you. keep in mind, this does not mean to "clear your mind" in the sense of having no thoughts at all. that's not necessary, and your brain is meant to think. begin to let it do that without you. that's okay. if thoughts come to you, simply acknowledge them and let them pass you by. it may help to focus your awareness on something in your imagination, while you allow your brain to think in the background. common ones are counting, visualizing thinks like smoke, light, or a rhythmic activity like swimming, walking, etc.
at some point during steps two or three, you may start to experience hypnogogic symptoms. they aren't the goal with this method, and you don't need to focus on them. if you feel them, that's okay, just acknowledge the sensations and let them pass.
struggling to let thoughts pass you by? it may help to take a similar approach with your mind as some do with the body, taking the "tense your body and then release to relax". "tense"/focus on each one of your thoughts, acknowledge it, and then let it go. if it helps, try to visualize (or create the idea of) a place to put them. this could mean floating them away into the clouds, placing them into a box, or tossing them off a cliff. whatever you pick, acknowledge you do not need to be aware of that thought or sensation right now, and put it away for later. it may help to visualize putting them all in there, and then closing the box or turning away from wherever you put it.
step four: pure awareness. for this step, i'm gonna ask you to pick one thing to focus on. your mind and body should be relaxed, with no sensations or thoughts distracting you, it's all just passing you by. pick one thing. it could be anything. a mantra (ie, repeating "i am" in your mind) counting, a visualization (a place, maybe an object, or a simple, repeating sensation like the sound of ocean waves or the feeling of breeze on your skin.) whatever it is, turn your full awareness to that. take as long as you need, revisiting steps three and four whenever necessary. is your full awareness on your chosen focus? great, now let it go.
one of two things will happen. either your awareness will let go and you'll become a state of pure awareness, or distractions will spring back up. let them if they do, it's okay. it may take practice, you may have to bring yourself back up and stop for now and try again another time, or you may be able to continue if you go back through steps two and three and make another attempt.
Tumblr media
method 1(b)
hypnogogia. some people experience hypnogogia when they meditate, but this is not a meditation method. this method is for those who don't want to meditate but who naturally experience hypnogogia when they're waking up or as they're falling asleep. identify which you experience, and plan to make use of it the next time it happens. you can increase the chances of it occurring very simply, if you're someone this works for.
for as you're falling asleep: every night when you go to sleep, your body and mind fall asleep, and they actually do this separately. the next time you're going to bed, and you'd like to reality shift, just try to keep your mind aware. you don't have to do anything special, you can just let your mind think normally. to avoid falling asleep, just keep your awareness focused, rather than letting it slip away as you would when you are going to sleep. if you need something to help hold your awareness in your mind, try counting, or visualizing, or focusing on one minute sense (ie, the weight of your blankets, or the sound of the refrigerator buzzing from the kitchen.) just let your body fall asleep. you don't have to do anything in particular to let this happen. your body naturally falls asleep every night, just don't get in the way of the process and it'll do the same as it always does. at some point, your mind will still be awake but your body will begin to fall into sleep, and this is when you start to experience symptoms of hypnogogia. lights flashing, hallucinations, fuzzy or tingly sensations, spinning, dizziness, floating, etc.
for as you're waking up: basically the same as above, but do it right after waking up instead. if you struggle with letting your body fall asleep when you first go to bed, this method might help you. right when you wake up, your body is still fully of sleepiness, and it's generally much easier for your body to fall back asleep than it was to fall asleep in the first place. use that, relax, keep your awareness in your mind and wait until the hypnogogia symptoms start. (this one doesn't often work for me because i have ptsd, and when i wake up i often immediately jump into fight or flight mode, totally and instantly awake. if that's you, this might not be the method for you!)
once you're in hypnogogia: there are a few ways you can go about this, and you can try both.
try focusing on the hypnogogic sensations. these are not real 3D senses, and your goal is to get away from the 3D distractions, so chase them. stay in them as long as you can. this technique is kind of like following the white rabbit down into wonderland, except that it's your awareness following strange buzzy sensations and flashing lights out of your body. try this until the 3D completely falls away, and the hypnogogia falls away next, leaving you in the void much like the white rabbit ditched alice when she fell down that hole.
did the hypnogogia not fall away? don't panic, try technique two: manually let go of the hypnogogic sensations. let them pass. actually, avoid them. your arms are tingling? notice it, and shift your awareness away. body spinning? let it go. don't try to focus your awareness on anything, just let things happen while you focus on being aware.
eventually, you should become pure awareness. if you try a few times and can't, this might not be the best method for you. some people are overwhelmed or distracted by symptoms of hypnogogia rather than being able to use it to reach pure awareness. just see what works for you!
Tumblr media
method 1(c)
lucid dreams. when you become lucid in a dream, you're almost already in the state of pure awareness. if you know about lucid dreaming, you might understand what i mean. you're lucid, and you're fully detached from the 3D. that's great, that's the pure awareness state, right?..... not quite, because of the "dream" part. in most lucid dreams, there is still that "dreamlike" quality. however, if you're someone who is able to lucid dreams often, and have the skill to stabilize your lucid dream, you can also develop the skill to dismiss the dream entirely. that way, you go from lucid dreaming, to just lucid. (ie, pure awareness.)
i won't go too deep into how to have a lucid dream here because there's so much to say (if anyone requests it, i might make a follow up later about how to lucid dreaming!) but for now, the relevant info is how to stabilize the dream, giving you the ability to dismiss it.
so you're lucid. awesome! now what?
first, perform reality checks to confirm that you are lucid dreaming. poke your finger through your hand. did it go through? you are dreaming. now pinch your nose, and take a deep breath. did you breath? you are dreaming. look for a clock, or create one. look at the time, look away, and look back again. did the time change? you are dreaming. look for a mirror, or create one. look at your reflection. are you dreaming?
continue using reality checks intermittently. i've found that people can be fully lucid, and then forget they're dreaming and lose control.
now to stabilize the dream. first, stabilize yourself. hold up your hands. how many fingers do you have? touch the tip of your index finger to each finger on your other hand as you count them. are there five on each hand? good. now press your hands together, palm to palm, and rub. can you feel it? great! clasp your hands together, intertwining your fingers, and then pull them apart. count your fingers again. still five on each hand? great, you're ready to move on.
now stabilize your surroundings. to do this, use each of your five senses. first, look at something and notice the details. is it colorful? is it clear? now listen. can you hear anything? what about touch, reach out and touch something. hold it in your hand, and focus on keeping it there. smell it, and then taste it. (it sounds weird, but it really helps.)
now practice dream control. that thing in your hands, do you still have it? if not, redo the previous step. if yes, great! now turn it into something else, change the color, or the size. now make your thing disappear, but on purpose. now make something else appear. then make it disappear. do another reality check. do you still have five fingers?
now to dismiss the dream. this might take a few tries, as your brain is dreaming, it will try to add things in, or take you into a new dream. focus on your awareness, and insist on staying aware while the dream disappears. it may seem easier to dismiss things one by one (ie, the walls, the floor, then your body) but in my experience this can make things less stable. try dismissing everything all at once, if you can.
did it work? confirm that you're in the state of pure awareness (see: how will i know i'm in the state of pure awareness? above.) are your thoughts clear, consistent, and in control? are you totally stable, with no risk of waking up or coming out of the state? if not, you may still be dreaming. if you realize you're still dreaming, just let yourself enter a new dream scene and repeat the step above.
Tumblr media
what do i do once im in the state of pure awareness? how do i shift?
actually, there's a lot you can do! but this is a reality shifting post, so that's what we'll focus on. once you've confirmed you're in the state of pure awareness, you are no longer aware of any 3D at all. hypothetically, it's just as easy to become aware of your DR from there as it is to become aware of this reality. first, try just doing it. become aware of your DR.
did that work? if not, try some of the tools you'd use to trigger a shift in general, except now you're doing them from the state of pure awareness with zero 3D distractions.
relax. there is absolutely zero rush. time does not pass here the way it does in the 3D. in the 3D, we perceive time as passing linearly, but your awareness is no longer tied to the third dimension. you have no body here, and you are not attached to your 3D brain or mind either. relax in your awareness.
visualize your DR. i think visualization is one of our most powerful tools for reality shifting, and it's even better in the void with no distraction. remember, you don't need to create the whole world with the power of your mind. you're not creating the world, and you're not traveling there. you're already there, you're just becoming aware of it. focus your awareness on small things about your DR. i think it helps to choose a few that feel close, familiar, or very real. where are you? what's your name? what are you going to do next? what are you wearing? what do you always have in your pockets when you leave the house? your favorite piece of jewelry? what does it feel like?
repeat. this could be a mantra, counting, your visualization, whatever, just pick something, if you find that repeating is something that helps you.
now visualize the very moment you want to shift into. use your senses, but don't force yourself to use one that's not coming naturally, ie don't sit there thinking "oh no, now i have to think of something to taste-" let go. you, dear reader who is reading this right now, are you thinking of one thing you can taste? probably not. unless you're eating hot chips. your DR self doesn't have to try to focus on being there, you're just there. so what are you sensing? are you seeing anything? smelling anything? hearing anything? feeling anything? don't create these sensations, or force yourself to feel them, you're in the state of pure awareness and you can't feel anything anyways. just reach for them.
at some point, you should become aware of your DR. in my experience, you don't have to force yourself there and there's no "symptoms" of being about to be there, especially because if you're in the state of pure awareness so there's no 3D sensations at all. it may feel like a "blip" or like a "pull" or a "blink" or like a "shift", and then you're there.
troubleshooting:
i can't get into the state of pure awareness.
don't worry, it's not the only way to reality shift. if 1(b) and 1(c) don't work for you, consider waiting for my meditation guides to be out, or methods 2 and 3, or come up with something all your own. you do not need to get into the state of pure awareness to reality shift, it's just one method that helps some people.
i got into the state of pure awareness, but i didn't shift.
well, there's two possibilities here. either you weren't actually in the state of pure awareness (ie, you accidentally fell asleep, or into a dream, or you were in some other meditative state you mistook for pure awareness).... or you did shift. to here. when you're pure awareness, you're not aware of this 3D reality, so when you became aware of this 3D reality, that was you reality shifting to here. oops! it happens, you can try again. do you remember how it felt when you reality shifted here from pure awareness? what triggered it? see if you can use that, and try to reverse engineer whatever made you become aware of here, to become aware of your DR next time instead.
if it does not work, over and over, then the state of pure awareness may not be what helps trigger you to shift to your DR. try a different method!
ok lovelies that's all for now!

How to live in the end
Tumblr media
Are you feeling anxious about your upcoming photoshoot? Your exams? Sp? Or maybe an event that hasn't occurred yet?
I have got your back
1. Focus on your end goal and not on the "lack/circumstances"
Tumblr media
Our fave stickman wants to go to Barbados, but instead of focusing on Barbados (aka the end goal) he starts focusing on not having the tickets or not having the money to buy the tickets (circumstances)
His entire attention is on the circumstance and not on the end goal
“Because of your belief in external things you think power into them by transferring the power that you are to the external thing. Realize you yourself are the power you have mistakenly given to outer conditions.” ― Neville Goddard, Your Faith is Your Fortune
2. Thinking from THE end
Tumblr media
This is based on the timeline jumping method ( the thread, ♡ the visual thread )
So what do we do here?
Tickets are just the bridge of events for your end goal
We mentally go to Barbados and think FROM Barbados and not OF it
(That's how Neville manifested his trip, btw)
"Thinking from the end is the beginning of all miracles" - Neville Goddard
The art of thinking from the end is about internally seeing the world as you would see it if your desire has already been achieved, even if it hasn't physically manifested yet.
3. Not seeing any movement?
Tumblr media
The stickman has got a photoshoot at MoonMoon studio in 2 weeks
On top of that the stickman is manifesting their desired body
> Out of the blue, the stickman gets anxious about their desired body and how they would look during the photoshoot because they "can't" see the results in the 3D
"The journey is in yourself. You travel along the highways of the inner world. Without inner movement, it is impossible to bring forth anything." - Neville Goddard
4. Think FROM & AFTER your desire
Tumblr media
They become anxious about the photoshoot BUT
How can the stickman get out of that anxious state?
Instead of thinking OF the photoshoot, they will think FROM and AFTER the photoshoot
They will mentally imagine that the event has already occurred
5. How to get into the state
Tumblr media
And they ask themselves this question
"How do I feel now when the photoshoot is done?"
"Wow, I like how the photos have turned out. I look so hot,"
They mentally prepare themselves for the best outcome and it helps them to get out of the anxious state
Inner action is an introverted sensation. If you will construct mentally a drama which implies that you have realised your objective, then close your eyes and drop your thoughts inward, centering your imagination all the while in the predetermined action and partake in that action, you will become a self-determined being.
6. You are THE observer
Tumblr media
The Timeline jumping method in nutshell:
This is how you think FROM + After your desire
The observer effect in quantum physics states that where you direct your attention is where you place your energy. As a consequence, you affect the material world. - Joe Dispenza
“Imagination is the act of creation. Imagination creates reality." - Neville Goddard

What the fuck is the infinite polygon cube???
The object dubbed "The Infinite Polygon Cube" is a cuboid item originally located in the Far Plane that possesses qualities similar to that of a computer-generated model with an unfathomable amount of polygons. It takes the appearance of a supremely orange cube.
Due to its qualities, the object has the following effects on reality:
Anyone who looks at it will have their mind overwhelmed and they will have difficulty going through with basic functions.
Their movements will become choppy and erratic.
They will have trouble speaking.
All devices that attempt to record it will crash. This includes via photo, video, or 3D scan.
Local time around the cube is broken up into sequential bursts with "lag" in between.
Upon physical contact, a human will become unconscious.
The cube is immune to all projectiles. Any projectiles thrown or shot towards it will freeze in place approximately one foot away from the cube and remain there until removed.
The cube can be successfully contained in a simple room or container and can be handled via tongs or other instruments that allow handling of it from a distance. Handling it for any reason other than research is not recommended.

Speculative Biology of Euclydians (and Bill Cipher) part 1
Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, UPDATE, Part 5
We're doing this, babies!
This analysis is based on two assumptions:
Before Bill Cipher became a demigod, he was a biological, living organism and so were the rest of his species.
Even after Bill Cipher became a demigod, he still retained some physical characteristics of his biological form.
I will clearly specify which of his abilities are innate abilities of his species, which ones are definitely his divine abilities and which ones could be both.
SO, without further ado:
What is Euclydia and what are Euclydians?
I'm gonna drop a bomb first.
Euclydia IS NOT a flat two dimensional plane. Before you load your shotguns, let me explain!
There are many proofs both in the Gravity Falls show and The Book of Bill that Euclydia isn't a flat plane like the imaginary two dimensional world from Flatland by Edwin A. Abbot.
The first one is actually Bill himself. Bill's species has complex camera lens type of eyes. Such eyes are possible in 2D world, but not on the front, like Bill has. He was born like that, so that is proof that Euclydia isn't 2D.
Next, when Bill is talking about his home in Weirdmageddon part 3, he shows an image of his home planet:
Tumblr media
This planet has RINGS. That is COMPLETELY impossible in 2D. Even if the planet was completely flat, the rings would go through it. They would never be able to actually encircle this planet. So, if Euclydia was two dimensional, Bill's home planet would not be able to exist.
In the Book of Bill, we see image of Bill as a baby. In that image he's standing on some kind of field with grass and you can clearly see that there's grass in front of him and behind him, and that's impossible in 2D:
Tumblr media
(also sorry for the shit quality of this pic)
But the best proof is that image from thisisnotawebsitedotcom.com that you get when you type VALLIS CINERIS in the computer. It shows Bill Cipher as a child with his parents. The parents are holding him in a manner that is completely impossible in 2D:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The image quality sucks, but you can clearly see that his parent's hands are IN FRONT OF him and he is also IN FRONT OF his parents. The position of "in front of" isn't possible in two dimensions and yet on this image the overlap happens many times. (I circled his parents' hands in red where they overlap with Bill and I circled him in blue where he overlaps with his parents. Bill's bow tie is also in front of him.).
With all that being said, what is Euclydia?
Well, just like Bill said, it's a flat world. Not two dimensional, but flat. The third dimension of Euclydia is limited somehow. Basically, in 3D, creatures are defined by 3 axis:
x axis is left and right (width)
y axis is up and down (height)
z axis is towards and away from (depth)
Tumblr media
All three dimensional objects have both width, height and depth. Two dimensional objects have just width and height, so just x and y axis. And Bill has depth. It's a very limited depth, but it is depth nonetheless. So he's not really a triangle, more like a very thin pyramid. This is his side profile lmao:
Tumblr media
So Euclydeans have some depth, but for whatever reason, they can't move on z axis. They can only move left, right, up and down. They also can't turn around.
This is how thisisnotawebsitedotcom.com explains Euclydian movements:
Two dimension to and fro, you always know which way to go. If you're lost, don't be afraid, in Euclydia you've got it made. Run too far right to right of frame, you'll appear on left again. Jump too high don’t cry or fret, pop up from the ground I bet. In this place, there is no fear, loved ones will be ever near. Roles and rules always flea/clear. Euclydia, we hold you dear.
So, if they move too far left, they'll come from the other side. This is actually something that in possible ONLY in non-euclidean geometry, which means that Euclydia, ironically, is a non-euclidean place. It's actually a sphere (or a similar elliptical body).
In non-euclidean geometry of the sphere, there exists something that sounds paradoxical: a straight line is actually a circle. But it's actually very easy to understand with this example:
Imagine that you're flying a plane in a straight line. You feel like you're going in a straight line, but your plane is actually following the curvature of the Earth. If you manage to fly around the entire Earth, you will appear on the same spot where you started flying. You were flying in a straight line, but because Earth is a non-euclidean sphere, you were actually flying in a circle. And both of those are true!
The plane is very very small compared to the size of the Earth. So, to the plane, Earth's curvature is so negligent that we could say that in a small radius around it the Earth is actually a flat plane. So, for example, houses, neighborhoods, even cities are built relying only on euclidean geometry (the geometry of a flat plane) because the Earth is so goddamn big.
And Euclydia is actually a whole fucking dimension. Let's say that our dimension is our universe. Our universe is approximately 93 billion light-years wide. So let's say that that's the size of Euclydia. How tiny is Earth compared to the Universe? That's why planets and everything else in Euclydia can be treated as a flat plane: every object is so small compared to the size of this giant sphere that the curvature could be completely omitted from the equation.
Now this is my theory, but I imagine that Euclydia looks like a giant soap bubble. Soap bubbles are made when two thin layers of soap molecules trap a thin layer of water:
Tumblr media
Euclydia is the water - that thin layer is where all the planets, stars and living beings on them are located. That's why movement on z axis is so limited. The soap molecules are membranes that separate Euclydia from the other dimensions, one inside the bubble and one outside.
Since Euclydians can't move across z axis, they have eyes on their sides that can see only left and right. Their vision is limited to one dimension. But Bill's eye is located in a spot that allows him to see both left and right, but also up and down. He can see two dimensions, just like us! Here's a diagram I made, so you can understand better:
Tumblr media
(there are stars outside too, but I didn't want to clutter this image more)
So, now that I've spent SO MUCH TIME explaining what is Euclydia, let me tell you what are Euclydeans.
Euclideans are animals (or their equivalent in their dimension). Animals are defined as multicellular heterotrophic organisms with an internal digestive tract. This basically means multicellular organisms that eat.
Euclydeans have to be multicellular because they have extremely complex structures such as: camera lens eyes, teeth, fingerprints, exoskeleton and so on. These traits cannot be achieved by a unicellular organism. And they definitely eat their food, we've seen Bill do it. So they are (their dimension's equivalent of) animals.
And how they function? What type of animal are they? Well, see you at part two, if this didn't bore you to death already!
Thank you to @forseenconsequences @extremereader and @ok1237 for asking me to do this. Hope you like it, guys!

THIS TRUMPETFISH IS USING ANOTHER FISH TO HIDE ITSELF WHEN HUNTING
And is working
Many animals use camouflage to avoid detection by others, yet even the most inconspicuous objects become detectable against the background when moving. One way to reduce detection while moving would be to ‘hide’ behind the movements of objects or other animals. Now, researchers have demonstrate experimentally, following field observations, that a trumpetfish (Aulostomus maculatus), a common marine predator, can conceal its approach from its prey by performing a behaviour known as ‘shadowing’, hiding behind, swimming closely next to another, larger and non-predatory fish.
Bicolor damselfish (Stegastes partitus), form highly localised colonies within structures on the reef substrate and exhibit characteristic anti-predatory responses, and are common meal for trumpetfish. Marine researchers working in the coral reefs off Curaçao, set up an underwater system to pull 3D-printed models of trumpetfish and the stoplight parrotfish (Sparisoma viride) being hand-reeled along a clear nylon line from one tripod to another, passing over the colony in the process, which was positioned halfway between the two. When these two 3D printed fishes were together, damselfish were quiet and show low antipredator responses.
Tumblr media
-After field observation, marine researchers modeled the ‘shadowing’ behavior.
This is the only known example of a non-human animal using another as a form of concealment. According to researchers, this evidence reveal how predators can actively use another animal as a form of concealment to reduce detection by prey.

hi question about painting!ford-- does he like,, inhabit any paper lying around basically? or just any flat surface?
bc like ford chilling on a notebook page ranting about something and stan just closing the book to shut him up just popped into my head and made me chuckle
mabel would draw him little scenes and shit to hang out in (also that begs the question-- if he is on a surface with art already on it, can he interact with it? like picking a shittily doodled flower for example)
I've been imaging that a cursed handcrafted Ford would be the same size as his normal self and wouldn't really change from that, so maybe not hanging in notebooks exactly. He could hang out on the wall to complain, or make himself into Stan's painted shadow on the floor if he liked, though.
His movement depends on where in space he is.
Painting: He started out in a framed painting when first cursed. Probably just a recreation of his study or lab. He can move around this space like it's real and he exists in 3d space within it. Other paintings don't quite work like that for him.
Surfaces: he can get out of the painting and move along flat surfaces like he's been painted onto them. You know Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds? That, basically. This does mean he can get literally anywhere if he wants, since even a small crack in a wall or in a doorframe means he can slide into places.
Paper: Soon after he got cursed and got out of the painting, Mabel struck upon the idea of him Flat-Stanleying (Flat-Stanfording) around if she cut out a piece of paper for him to exist on. It turned out a success, and he can exist on a 3d plane like that, though breezes topple him pretty easily. They probably started out with printer paper and ended up giving him a card-stock base to exist on later.
Yes, he could move things that are painted near him! This is hard to describe, but I imagine he couldn't take a painted object and move it forwards or backwards in perspective, just up, down, left, or right. Like moving an image around on your computer screen. He could do something like write with a drawn marker Mabel doodles for him, though. He promptly starts writing down notes on his curse on the walls of the Shack and Stan gives him hell for it.
Here is a real and very earnest and totally not a joke concept sketch:

My "hot-take":
Tumblr media
FUCK. THESE. THINGS.
I have never encountered a gizmo nor gimbal that I enjoyed interfacing with, not even once. They are the most cumbersome way to interact with anything in 3D space; I would rather chop off my limbs than have to laggardly click, hold, and drag these teeny tiny little tools (for often subtle and precise transformations!).
It is incredibly common to be at an angle where an entire axis is unavailable or unreasonably difficult for you to manipulate. When you're composing a scene of 3D objects, it's not unusual to want to do it in a way that is informed by the current position of your camera. I could rotate the viewport to reach whatever axis is being obscured, but fuck you! I don't want to! Most programs with gizmos have a way to enlarge the axes for this reason—which is great, if you're a fan of having vast portions of the model you're working on obscured by STUPID COLORFUL ARROWS.
So, if not gizmos, then what? I argue that Blender has the best alternative, but Unreal has a pretty compelling one as well. (There are probably other inventive ways of forgoing gizmos in 3D, but these are the two I'm most familiar with. If you know of any other unique control methods for 3D software, I would love to hear about them.)
For Blender, you simply have to press the X, Y, or Z key to constrain the transformation to the corresponding axis; the following manipulation is controlled entirely by the movement of your mouse. You don't have to hold down anything! It is precise, agile, and ergonomic. These controls might be less immediately intuitive than having a literal, visual representation of the axes, but it SIGNIFICANTLY reduces strain on the hands, and with practice, allows you to model so much faster than any gizmo could ever let you.
Unreal, while not a modelling tool, has a similar method of manipulation available. You hold Ctrl, then press a mouse button and drag—left click controls X, right click controls Y, and both simultaneously control Z. It feels very sexy and sleek, like operating a jet. For me, it isn't perfectly ideal (it still involves holding buttons for extended periods of time, and it occupies both hands), but it is infinitely more enjoyable than dealing with gizmos.
I do feel guilty about the sheer extent of my hatred for these poor things. They're so colorful and visually appealing, and certainly the most intuitive way to represent transformations in 3D space. But they suck. They just suck. And they hurt me.

Understanding the 3D vs. 4D: The Shift Between Realities
Shifting is often described as the act of moving between realities, but the process is more complex than simply changing locations or environments. The distinction between 3D and 4D is not only significant in terms of the worlds themselves, but also in how we experience and perceive reality. Understanding this difference is crucial for anyone who is serious about shifting, as it unveils a deeper layer of reality that has the potential to change our understanding of existence itself.
The 3D World: Linear Time and Physical Constraints
To begin understanding the shift between 3D and 4D, it’s important to first grasp what the 3D world represents. The 3D realm is the reality most of us are familiar with, where we experience time, space, and matter in specific ways. Time in the 3D world is linear. It moves from past to present to future in a steady, measurable progression. Days, hours, and minutes dictate our lives, and every event follows a particular order. We are bound by the laws of physics that govern space—our physical movements are restricted to three dimensions (length, width, height), and our senses are designed to interact with the world in tangible, touchable ways.
In the 3D world, cause and effect are clearly defined. The events we experience follow a clear timeline—what happened yesterday can’t happen tomorrow, and what will happen in the future hasn’t occurred yet. This world operates on limitations, both physically and mentally, with space and time as constant forces shaping our experiences. Our bodies are subject to aging, our thoughts follow a rational progression, and our reality is defined by what we can see, hear, touch, and measure. Even the most abstract thoughts we have are contained within the structure of time and space.
This strict framework shapes how we live and understand the world. However, for those who wish to shift, this understanding of reality becomes a constraint. The 3D world, with its linearity and physical boundaries, is only a small piece of the larger, more expansive universe. To move beyond it, one must explore the possibility of stepping out of these limitations, to see beyond the veil of time and space.
Entering the 4D: A Higher-Dimensional Experience
When we shift to a 4D reality, we step into a world that is far more fluid, flexible, and expansive. The concept of the 4D world challenges everything we know about time and space. In this realm, time is no longer linear. Instead of being confined to a steady progression from past to future, time becomes malleable. It can bend, overlap, and occur simultaneously in multiple instances. Imagine being able to experience all moments at once—not just reliving the past or seeing the future, but understanding them as layers that exist together. This is what 4D time offers: the freedom to see time as an interconnected web, rather than a straight line.
The experience of space in the 4D realm is also radically different. While 3D space is fixed and measurable, 4D space allows for an expansion of what is possible. In the 4D world, the concepts of height, width, and depth can intertwine in complex ways. It’s not just about moving in three directions, but about perceiving multiple realities simultaneously. Imagine being able to see through objects, or being aware of a multitude of parallel universes at the same time. Movement in the 4D world is fluid and can happen across multiple dimensions at once, allowing for experiences that are not possible in our 3D understanding.
Perhaps the most profound aspect of the 4D world is the way beings in this realm interact with time and space. In 3D, we are restricted by physical boundaries, but in 4D, beings are able to transcend these boundaries. They might be able to experience events as they unfold across different moments in time, or even affect the timeline itself. A 4D being might be aware of their past and future in ways that 3D beings cannot comprehend, able to manipulate time to create change or prevent events from occurring.
Shifting Between Realities: A Bridge Between Worlds
So, how do we shift from the 3D world to the 4D? The transition between these realities is not as simple as stepping into another physical location—it’s about shifting the way we perceive and understand reality itself. To move from the linear, tangible experience of the 3D world into the expansive, fluid world of the 4D, we must first break free from the mental constraints that hold us in the 3D. This means shedding our reliance on linear time and physical limitations. Shifting into the 4D requires expanding consciousness beyond the familiar boundaries of space and time.
One way to approach this shift is by deepening our awareness of the non-linear aspects of existence. In the 3D world, we are trained to think in terms of time as a sequence, with one event leading to another. But in the 4D, time is not experienced in this rigid way. It is important to let go of our dependence on time as we know it and embrace the idea that past, present, and future can coexist, interweaving to create a reality that is far richer and more dynamic.
The key to shifting into a 4D reality is trust and letting go. Trust in the fluidity of existence. Trust in your ability to transcend the 3D constraints. As you begin to shift your perception, you may start to notice subtle changes in the way you experience time and space. These changes might feel disorienting at first, but with practice, they become more natural. Shifting into a 4D reality means stepping into a new way of being—one where time is an expansive force, and space is a fluid, interconnected experience.
The Implications of 4D Shifting
The deeper implications of shifting into the 4D realm are profound. Moving beyond the limitations of 3D opens up possibilities that are difficult to fully comprehend. In the 4D world, time is no longer a prison but a canvas. The way we experience our lives, the world around us, and even our interactions with others can be altered in incredible ways. It’s not just about physical space and objects—shifting into the 4D realm can alter how we perceive ourselves, our identity, and our place in the universe.
By shifting to the 4D, we become more aware of the interconnectedness of all things. We begin to understand that every choice we make ripples through time, and every moment is part of a greater whole. It’s a humbling and empowering experience, one that transcends the linear, finite boundaries of our 3D world.
Conclusion: The Next Step in Our Evolution
In the end, the shift from 3D to 4D is not just a physical relocation—it’s a journey of consciousness. It’s about transcending the limitations of time, space, and perception to embrace a greater understanding of existence. The 4D world is where time and space become fluid, where realities intertwine, and where we begin to understand our place in the cosmos on a much deeper level.
For those who are ready to explore the higher dimensions, shifting between the 3D and 4D is a way to unlock the full potential of reality. It’s an invitation to leave behind the constraints of the physical world and explore the infinite possibilities that exist in the realms beyond. With each shift, we step closer to understanding the true nature of existence—and perhaps, even the nature of time and space itself.

Based on the previous ask, if a mimic needs to assimilate. Does this mean there's a natural form of a mimic? like its a sort of goo or a creature? or does it kinda just spawn into existence as a sort of creature already? like for example ur cool horse toy just kinda comes to life and later learns to turn into a cool robot.
Tumblr media
Mimics start out as larval mimics. When a mimic wants a new body, it assimilates an object and converts the object into a more malleable form of simulacra. From there the same process as the one stated above occurs, going from a blobby larval state to something fully solid and stable.
Some of this was explained extensively in a mostly accurate but kinda outdated mini-comic, but this is a more up to date explanation. The Core is the "actual" part of a mimic. The rest of the body is a kind of 3D printed robotic shell, with silent, invisible mechanisms for movement and senses. If it has no previous form to use in its "cache" memory, it takes on a weird blobby look until it can stabilize into something usable.

Wet Beast Wednesday: tardigrades
Last week on Wet Beast Wednesday I covered the largest animals to ever exist on our planet. This week I'm going to pull a full 180 and cover the smallest animals yet on this series. Meet the tardigrade, the internet's favorite micro-animal the is said to be basically immortal. How true is that? Let's see.
Tumblr media
(Image: an electron microscope image of a tardigrade. It looks a lot like a potato with eight stubby legs tipped with long claws. At the front is a small, circular mouth. It has no other discernable features. In the background are bits of plant matter that look like seaweed at this scale. End ID)
The tardigrades are 1,300 known species (and probably a lot of unknown ones too) in the phylum Tardigrada. They are also part of the superphylum Ecdysozoa, which are animals that grow by molting their outer cuticles or exoskeletons. In particular, the tardigrades are believed to be a sister group of the arthropods, the group that contains crustaceans, insects, isopods, and a lot of other things. Tardigrades are truly tiny, the largest species reaching a whopping 1.5 millimeters in length, though most species reach no more than 0.5 mm. They have round, segmented bodies with four pairs of legs that end in either claws or suction discs. The body segments consist of a head, three body segments with a pair of legs each, and a caudal segment with the final pair of legs. The first three legs are used for movement while the final pair points backwards and is used for grabbing onto substrate. All of the body segments except for the final one correspond to segments found in the head section of insects. Tardigrades are missing many hox genes, genes that direct the body plan during development. Their ancestors may have had a body plan more similar to insects, but the loss of the hox genes has compressed them into walking heads with a bit of butt. The mouth is tubular and sucks in food. In the mouth are stylets, needle-like structures used to pierce food objects. Once food is drawn into the mouth, a structure called the buccopharyngeal apparatus activates. This is a combination of spines and muscle that acts like an inner jaw that pulls food into the digestive tract. The buccopharyngeal apparatus is distinct enough to be used as a major identifying feature between species. Tardigrades are translucent and many images you've seen of them have false color to show the details or are 3D models based on scanning electron microscope imagery of them. Tardigrades molt their exoskeletons multiple times (up to 12) during their lifecycle. Some species are unable to poop normally and instead all their waste is discarded during the molt. It was formerly believed that tardigrades could exchange genes with each other without mating, a process called horizontal gene transfer that is seen in bacteria, archaea, and other micro-organisms. It has since been discovered that while still capable of horizontal gene transfer, it is quite a bit rarer in tardigrades than we thought.
Tumblr media
(Image: an electron microscope image of a tardigrade standing on a bit of plant matter. This one has a closed mouth with a ring of triangular tooth-like structures. It also has two simple eyes that look like black dots. End ID)
The name "tardigrade" means "slow walker", which is fitting as, despite their eight legs, tardigrades have a slow and awkward gait. This is the result of their legs being unjointed, only able to pivot at their connection to the body. Their gait has been compared to that of bears, hence why they are often called water bears and their discoverer, Johann August Ephraim Goeze, called them "kleiner wasserbär", meaning "little water bear". Tardigrades are found worldwide and have inhabited virtually every habitat, from the tops of mountains to the deep sea, from hot springs to the antarctic, from freshwater to saltwater. The one thing they have in common is a need to stay wet. Tardigrades can survive out of water as long as they can stay moist and are often found in mosses, hence another common name: moss piglets. The majority either eat plants or bacteria, but some will feed on smaller tardigrades or other micro-animals. Their famous survivability makes it easy for tardigrades or their eggs to be carried to new habitats by larger animals or other phenomena. Tardigrades are one of the first micro-animals to colonize a new habitat and they are a pioneer species, the first species to colonize a new environment and whose presence makes that environment fore suitable for other species to follow. Tardigrades are a major food source to other micro-animals and larger organisms. Most species have distinct males and females, though a few reproduce through parthenogenesis. In most cases, molting female will lay her eggs in her shed cuticle and males will them fertilize them. Other species have a form of internal reproduction. Males and females will court each other before mating and females will usually allow multiple males to fertilize her eggs. Female tardigrades are typically larger and more abundant than males. Eggs can take up to 14 days (species dependent) before hatching. All tardigrades of the same species have the exact same number of cells as each other. They are also born with the same number of cells they will have as an adult. Their growth is driven by enlargement of the existing cells rather than cellular reproduction making new cells. The lifespan ranges between a few months to a few years, depending on species.
Tumblr media
(Image: a color photo of a tardigrade. It is a pale, translucent white, making it hard to make out details. Its body is curved, with the front end pointing at the camera. It has two simple eyes. End ID)
Tumblr media
(Image: an electron microscope image of a tardigrade egg. It is round but covered in small pores and conical structures. End ID)
The most famous feature of tardigrades is their legendary durability. It is commonly said that tardigrades can survive just about anything (except for the things that are actually trying to kill them. They are prey to a lot of species after all). Among the things they can survive is extreme heat, extreme cold, dehydration, extremely high and low pressure, exposure to ionizing radiation (that's the scary kind), low oxygen environments, environmental toxins, heavy impacts, and the vacuum of fucking space. While the can survive in extreme conditions, tardigrades are not considered extremophiles. True extremophiles thrive in extreme environments and are negatively impacted by leaving them. Tardigrades can survive in extreme environments, but are negatively impacted and can't survive as well there as they can in less extreme places. The main trait that has allowed tardigrades to survive all five mass extinctions in history is cryptobiosis. Cryptobiosis is the rare ability for an animal to enter a state of dormancy where their metabolic processes come to an almost complete stop. While in cryptobiosis, metabolic activity drops to 0.01% normal and water content drops to 1% normal. In this state, the tardigrade is called a tun. Tardigrades usually enter cryptobiosis in response to arid conditions. One experiment showed that a species of tardigrade could last for at least 30 years in this state and return to normal lifestyle functions when exposed to water. Tardigrades will also enter cryptobiosis in response to low oxygen, toxic chemical exposure, increased or decreased temperature, and excessive salt content in the water. Tardigrades also show extreme resistance to both high and low pressure. They can live in 0 atmospheres of pressure and some species can survive up to 6,000 atmospheres, more than double the pressure at the bottom of the Marianas trench. More interesting is their ability to survive dangerous radiation. They can survive 1,000 times the dose of gamma radiation that humans can. Early tests focused on tardigrades in cryptobiosis and concluded that the extremely low water content of a cryptobiotic tardigrade doesn't leave much opportunity for the radiation to react with the animal. However it was later found that active and fully hydrated tardigrades are still considerably resistant to radiation. Studies into this resistance indicate that tardigrades can very efficiently repair damaged DNA and have unique proteins called Dsup that provides additional protection. Dsup introduced to human cells has provided additional protection against x-rays.
Tumblr media
(Image: an electron microscope image of a tun - a tardigrade in cryptobiosis. It is smaller and very wrinkly, with the legs and mouth retracted into the body. End ID)
Tardigrades were the first animals to be exposed to the vacuum of space. They were exposed for 10 days, some in a state of cryptobiosis at the time of exposure and some still active. It was found that they were able to survive the vacuum when shielded from the sun's ultraviolet radiation, with those already in cryptobiosis doing better. Upon being rehydrated, many were able to resume normal life functions and successfully reproduce, though others died after being rehydrated. Those that were exposed to UV radiation fared much worse, with only a few hydrated individuals surviving. The individuals in cryptobiosis had a lower survival rate when exposed to UV than those not exposed to UV and were less successful at reproducing afterwards. Studies of tardigrade's space survival abilities and resistance to radiation could go a long way in helping human space travel. One of the largest dangers of space travel is that space is full of nasty radiation from the sun that Earth's magnetic field protects us from. Some scientists speculate about the possibility of accidentally seeding other planets or moons with tardigrades or other space-resistant organisms. This is a problem because introducing Earth life to other world has the potential to damage any native ecosystems and if we find life in space in the future we don't want to have to figure out if it's something we accidentally put there. While tardigrades could likely survive on other planets, they would eventually die without a food source. Some sources reported that tardigrades may have colonized the moon after an experiment with them crashed. Unfortunately, the moon is not crawling with tardigrades now. It's way too dry for them to exit cryptobiosis even if they survived the crash, which they probably didn't.

Tutorial: How to adjust joint position (in TS2 object skeleton)
This tut is NOT meant for beginners because I don't explain how to use SimPe or Milkshape. But actual process is very basic: you change joint coordinates and do GMDC model rebuild. The tricky part is to get coordinates right.
If you don't know much about joint assignments, start with this tutorial: "Retaining object animations in your new package" by Bluetexasbonnie @ MTS2, which explains how to add joint assignments to custom stuff cloned from functional objects (to make parts of the mesh move when Sims interact with it).
The pic above: SimPe GMDC skeleton preview. You can click on each joint name to see which part is assigned to it. Gate is here.
This will work for simple object skeletons without IK Bones.
There are no plugins that would allow us to properly import TS2 CRES skeleton data with IK bones - like sims, pets and more - to any 3D program
If object has IK Bones - you'll find out when importing CRES to Milkshape. If it displays a notification "joints with rotation values found...", IK Bones are present and there's a high risk that skeleton: A. will not be imported. B. if it's imported, it will get mangled. C. will be mangled after using model rebuild option.
I've experimented with car skeletons (those have IK Bones), managed to edit car door joints but it required removing wheel bone assignments - because wheel movement becomes wonky after doing model rebuild
/FYI: steps 1 - 5 are optional, you can edit CRES joint coordinates right away if you know the right values - which is usually not the case/.
Export GMDC with your custom mesh
Export CRES (if you wish to preview entire skeleton and/or joint names)
Import GMDC to Milkshape
Import CRES (if you need it. Plugin is called: Sims2 AniMesh CRES Skeleton Import. Click 'yes' to 'replace all bones?'). You should be able to see entire skeleton imported. Note that Milkshape won't let you export a GMDC after you imported CRES skeleton unless you change joint comments (point 7.)
Measure how much you need to move the joint. You can create a box as ruler substitute, then check the distance with extended manual edit plugin. If you're not sure where to place your joint, you can move it and test if object animations look alright (import CRES again to reset joint position).
Tumblr media
tip: when working on GMDC in Milkshape you can rename the model parts in model list (door right, door left etc). Only names inside the model comments actually get exported.
6. Go back to SimPe, open CRES resource. Remember TS2 is using flipped coordinates: X = -X, -X = X, Y = Z, Z = Y. Edit joint Translation data, commit, save.
Optional: you can export CRES skeleton again and import to Milkshape to test if joint has moved to the right position.
7. Go to GMDC, Model tab - hit rebuild, commit, save.
Tumblr media
if you have the edited object placed on a lot, it's gonna look weird when you load the game. You need to re-buy it from catalogue to see results.
If for some reason you'd like to export entire GMDC with your imported CRES skeleton, Milkshape won't let you do that. You'll get "ERR: No quaternion values stored" error. You need to go to Joints tab and edit each Joint comment to ImpQuatDat: (that's imp, with capital i )
Tumblr media
Notes:
if you go to GMDC Joints tab, there's also a rebuild option to update single joint - but I've tried it on car door joints and it didn't work.
If you edit joint coordinates in CRES, for example- move the car door forward, and preview skeleton in GMDC viewer, your model is gonna look fine. But in the game every vertex assigned to that joint will also be moved forward. That's why you need to use model rebuild option. In theory, if you'd like to skip rebuild, you could import GMDC to milkshape and move the door backwards to compensate for joint adjustments? I haven't tried that (yet).

Unserious review of Mickey 17
Mickey 17 is a sci-fi movie about a guy who is 'expendable', meaning he's used for experiments and testing alien territory, and every time he dies they just 3D-print a new one with his memories. So I watched this movie because I realized it's watching Robert Pattinson be murdered a bunch of times and I thought I'd enjoy that – and I did, he was utterly pathetic, it was so bad, I loved it every time. He was whining and shaking and letting himself be killed and said 'thank you', he begged the aliens to eat him and insisted he tasted good. The movie did a good job of cutting out all gorey scenes which I appreciated!
The other thing I liked in this movie is that for the majority of it, all women are absolutely evil and unbeliveably horny, like to the point where I was wondering if they gave them personalities of males. In the end I didn't even care, I was just fascinated! Can you imagine if your boyfriend accidentally clones itself and is in danger of being executed for this but all you can think about is 'we are having a threesome immediately' without even asking the original if he's up for that! I mean I know this was written by a male so no true female qualities were represented but I thought it was super funny to see a woman not caring even one bit if her boyfriend is murdered and centering her own sex fantasies instead. I'm into that, I love women caring about their boyfriends zero percent, it brings some equality in!
Another very interesting thing that happened in the forementioned threesome is that the clone reached for the original, and the original said no!! I was laughing so much because that's another layer of 'would you fuck your clone', imagine if you tried and clone rejected you! I would be seriously bummed out. I also appreciated that scene because we almost breached into yaoi content and I was into that. It also made me ponder a horrifying scenario where you have a clone and the clone fails to be gay. What is that about, ew.
I understood that the themes were about cults, exploitation of human labour and lives, class desparity, racism, misogyny, trump, white supremacy, genocide, but all that was poorly executed and didn't touch me, except when the black woman told the cult leader off, I enjoyed that moment. But the movie rocked because you get to see edward cullen tortured to death as many times as you like and he's pathetic about it every single time.
I think the way aliens were executed was sooo lazy, it's always lazy, there's one 'mama alien' and everyone else follows her, they're all babies of one alien, really? That's just avoiding to develop complex relationships and dynamics between the alien communities, families, neighbours, strangers, enemies, political groups, it's lazy to imagine they all just have one personality, one objective, and leader and act like some insect colony, while humans get to be complex with their actions and intentions and class differences and roles in society, give aliens some complexity! Even animals have more than that.
Another big issue I had with the alien representation is that humans were presented as 'at fault' for not realizing aliens were peaceful and harmless, but from the first meeting it sure did not look that way! A peaceful and harmless creature will not lunge at you full speed screeching and trying to climb on the top of your head, that is an aggressive first act! A peaceful and curious creature keeps distance, watches, approaches very slowly while watching your reaction, sniffs you, extends a limb to see if you wanna touch it, makes a submissive gesture like bowing or looking away so you have time to see it's not trying to ambush you. If an animal is curious about you, it won't come directly at you, it will jump around, sniff, test the waters first. Especialyl if it's an intelligent one! They'll watch you from distance for a while before approaching, and make sure you're not making any aggressive movements either. If bunch of unkown creatures started screeching and lunging at me full speed I would rightfully conclude that I'm not dealing with peaceful harmless creatures! They presented themselves as a threat at first, and then later changed their behaviour into peaceful and everyone who was afraid of them was a stupid idiot who didn't get that these were ghibli like baby aliens who just wanted to cuddle and have a good time.
The only good plot thing that happens in the movie is the last plotwist – the aliens threaten to 'explode their brains' if they fail to return a kidnapped baby, and Mickey believes it, they get the baby back, but later he's like, wait a minute, explode our brains? Can you do that with your voice? And the aliens laugh at him and you realize it was all a bluff and it's so funny.
I wonder if we're supposed to pick up on psychological play here, Mickey 18  is shown as aggressive, impulsive and unstable, and it's never explicitly explained why, he's never been like that before. But if we think about it, he wakes up with a memory of being left for dead, by the guy who put him in this position in the first place. He tries to kill that guy first, before going after every other person on the ship, he's ready to murder anyone and everyone who faults him. He sees a guy and goes 'lets kill him'.
Mickey 17 however, has the additional memory of being saved from that death, and I think this memory stops him from becoming bitter and jaded, he's instead meek and obedient and hopeful, and even Mickey 18 is trying to protect him and get revenge for him! It's kind of a sweet dynamics, seeing a clone care for you so much he's going around trying to murder people who faulted you. If only they turned this into a  'clone love story', I would rate it 10/10 and call it yaoi. Really sad they didn't take that route. I will check AO3 later. I think all m*n should be as pathetic as Mickey 17! I think it'd be fun if they just begged to be murdered and acted obedient and meek. Please can we make this happen.
Also as much as I enjoyed the murders they did not give this man enough ptsd. He had one single nightmare in the entire movie, I wanted to see him flinch at every movement and fear every other person, as he should as he's murdered constantly. And the lady scientist who kept reprinting him was somehow depicted as 'nerdy' and 'intelligent' and 'sweet woman who was just doing her job', while she was casually having this guy murdered and reprinted, I was taken aback that movie never tried to call this out? Were we supposed to see trough that and conclude that this lady is void of morality? She gets to cuddle with a little baby alien in the end so we can see how sweet and nice she is! Nothing was questioned.
Every other woman is out there comitting atrocities too, in the last 10 minutes Nasha suddenly develops moral compass but at that moment I'm not even buying it, I've seen what that woman did, there was no way she was into Mickey for real, she wanted a submissive baby and he was the most pathetic guy there. I'm not even gonna comment on anything Ylda did because she grossed me out so bad. Everyone in the movie was uncessarily horny the entire time and so many fetishes were mentioned and fed, I would swear Mickey 17 just wanted to be vored by someone by how he was acting, I have no idea what Ylda wanted but I prefer not to know, clone was gay horny, another unrelated woman was trying to get Mickey but only after watching him almost die on the floor which I presume turned her on, there was just so much. Okay I guess because sex was prohibited but we were watching people do it all the time anyway, which is how that usually goes.
Anyway I had a good time, I would not rewatch, 5/10 bc they didn't have enough yaoi and a male directed it and put all of his fetishes in it.
