Staying in 5e and ignoring 6e/"OneDnD" is not an option. I'll try to summarize below the cut, but I'm not an expert, so please seek out resources that aren't me for full info. This link is a good start. This is the full deep-dive I read up on a few days ago. Listening to the community is also worthwhile to understand from the voices of those affected most. To be more involved in the discussion yourself, a lawyer has set up a Discord server for the community to gather and converse in regarding this issue.

Again, for full context and information from more knowledgeable sources than me (including actual professionals), please go to the links I included above. If you don't have the time/patience/spoons to read those articles, scroll a twitter feed, or poke around a Discord server though, here are the things that made the most potent impression on me and why you should care about this issue.

As mentioned, staying in 5e and ignoring 6e/"OneDnD" is not an option. While OGL1.1 was made for 6e, the extensive parts of the document that have been leaked make it clear that with OGL1.1 going into effect, OGL1.0a (which has been the OGL for the past decade) will no longer be functional. 3rd party creators must choose to either sign the OGL1.1 and comply with it's insanely restrictive and predatory terms, or face legal repercussions for publishing the content they have made their livelihoods off of the past decade.

Per the leaked document, all 3rd party creators must register themselves and their creations with WotC. - 3rd party creators making over $50,000 USD per year must also report their earnings to WotC. - 3rd party creators making over $750,000 USD gross per year must also pay WotC a 25% royalty. This means it is not 750k in profits, it is 750k before any expenses that they are taking the royalties from. Anyone whose profit margin was 25% or less would be financially invalidated by this royalty, and can even end up losing money. Furthermore, the nature of Kickstarters for example is that there is no upper ceiling on earnings, so a KS for a 3rd party sourcebook will suddenly be facing a massive expense they may not have planned for if their campaign exceeds the 750k mark, potentially destroying their ability to deliver on the rewards when they otherwise could have. While currently only a small number of creators are known to make over 750k/year (gross, not net), that does not mean this will not affect you. It creates a very dire argument for why 3rd party creators should not even make the effort in the first place, especially with crowdfunding where too much success can suddenly ruin them.

Remember how those who make over 50k have to report their earnings? Well, the 750k threshold is one WotC says they have the right to change at any time in OGL1.1. This means they can see what people are making when creators are forced to report their earnings over 50k, and use that data to lower the threshold of income for their royalty fee, and they can do this at any time, however much they want. Per OGL1.1, they are telling you that they can decide on a whim that actually, anyone making over $5,000 USD gross a year has to pay the 25% royalty.

D&DBeyond / OneDnD are working towards creating a VTT to host OneDnD/6e. While Roll20 is licensed by WotC if I'm not mistaken, virtually no other VTT is. Platforms like Foundry VTT (my personal favorite and most beloved VTT) will not be able to host the D&D system on them under OGL1.1. What does that mean? Hard to say. But it will objectively become much harder to play D&D outside of WotC-approved spaces in the near future, and that is by design. They want to monopolize how this game is played, and that means making it difficult, inconvenient, or even illegal to play the game outside of their personal playground.

Under OGL1.1, WotC claims full and complete ownership over any and all 3rd party content created for D&D, and the rights to use it however, whenever, and wherever they want without paying you royalties. You made this? Hasbro made this.

I've only ever played 5e. But this link I put up above was very informative about prior editions and the drama surrounding them. 3e had an OGL, and the community began to flourish with 3rd party content. WotC didn't like that people who weren't them were making money off a passion for D&D, and they regretted the OGL--but that OGL was irrevocable, and could not be cancelled, removed, or in any way undone. So they put together 3.5e. They promised 3.5e would be backwards compatible, and all your resources for 3e would still work for it. So people jumped to 3.5e, only to find all their 3e content was now worthless, because that hadn't been true. And 3.5e, of course, did away with that open and welcoming OGL from 3e. Sound familiar? "OneDnD" is touted to be backwards compatible. And yet also comes with crushing restrictions in their OGL1.1 that make it impossible for the D&D community to exist as it has been. It is transparently clear that for WotC/Hasbro, an ideal world would be one where all the money people have spent on flourishing this community over the last decade would have gone exclusively into their pockets. D&D makes hundreds of millions every year, but it's "under monetized" according to their new CEO. It doesn't matter if "Honor Among Thieves" flops at the box office, WotC has already green-lit the production of multiple D&D movies. It's not about fanservice, it's about fan exploitation. Because they can't fucking stand that the game they made can be played obsessively and passionately for decades with only the one-time purchases of the DMG and PHB. And instead of fixing the apparent "under-monetization" problem by publishing more official content, they choose to poach 3rd party creators. The very lifeblood that has caused D&D's success. Because capitalist greed is a soulless poison to whatever it fixes its attention on.

The only way the community has any shot in hell to fight this is if the pushback is intense and loud. WotC has released statements mentioning an openness to listening to the community and revising their choices based on feedback; whether that proves to be lip service or not remains to be seen, but either way: the only thing they seem to care about is money. Fine, let your money do the talking, then. Wholeheartedly support the boycott. Proclaim your support of it loudly. Let Hasbro know that their attempts to milk more profits out of this franchise will be the very thing that kills it if they don't ease the fuck back and allow OGL1.0a to persist. They apparently didn't learn shit when this happened in 3e/3.5e. They can either wise up now before they fuck up beyond repair, or they can be fully destroyed by their own greed. Time will tell.

Good catch, thanks! You're right, I must have had some wires crossed when writing that bit. They couldn't revoke it, but they did publish new content for 3.5e that made 3.0e content feel worthless; this is not something I personally lived through, but is based on the reporting from this second article I linked. Likewise, that article explains how 4e did not have an OGL and was consequentially a bit of a wasteland, presumably prompting WotC to bring the OGL back for 5e. Which flourished. And now we're here.

Something else I failed to mention above: OGL1.1 has a "poison pill" clause. Anyone who signs it permanently forfeits their right to publish under prior versions of the OGL, even if they are unable to take down those prior versions. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING FOR OGL1.1. Even if the community pushback yields results, you may have trapped yourself. "Predatory" does not even begin to cover it.

with the great Berry and the ok Denyer in parliament the party could have more momentum in battling the starmerite government, and with that, it has the ability, the possibility to pick up more momentum. this is a big opportunity in the party's history - over the next five years it can and could be pushed into a holistic ecosocialist movement by the centrally influential mass party membership, and remove the last dregs of its tunnel vision to provide a lefty movement for everyone, green and pink, a Newfoundland coalition. with votes at 16 on the cards and this potential evolution of the party, 2029 could be a big moment for this country's left. whether or not the greens play the role of keystone is up to them

I think people really underestimate

How much a fandom can do in terms of helping a piece of media gain traction that otherwise would've faded into oblivion in weeks.

How much a single individual can do to create a fandom around a piece of media that otherwise wouldn't have one.

Like, back in the day, I used to sell my art in artist alleys, and I would do conventions with 50k+ guests, and there wouldn't be a single other table in the entire hall (artists and vendors alike) who had anything related to this one anime I was obsessed with. I went literal YEARS of sharing that anime with everyone I knew, posting it everywhere, drawing and selling fan art (I only ever sold one print and a handful of stickers), etc. until I finally found 1 cosplayer who liked it too. And little by little, the anime started to crop up everywhere even though people kept telling me that it would never catch on.

And I'm not gonna say what anime it is because the anime is ridiculously popular now so everyone's gonna think I'm making this up, but just trust me when I say that fandoms only die when all the fans stop caring. And a lot of popular IPs that get taken for granted were literally set up to fail by the companies that produced them, meaning the only reason they became these massive, famous IPs is because a bunch of fans refused to let them die.

If you want more X or wish Y would get the appreciation it deserves, THEN MAKE IT HAPPEN. Shout it from the rooftops! Put your heart and soul into it! Because that's literally how media takes off. That's literally how fandoms grow and stories become eternal. Don't give up on your favorite stories just because mainstream capitalism didn't want to bet on them. *You* do, and that's what matters.

It's probably a case of "seeing what you want to see" in the text, but I'm enjoying how the Rebuild The Capital mod takes potshots at some of the stupid stuff in 3 leading to 4 but also shows some appreciation for what 3 wrote for the BoS.

Namely having a terminal from a scribe who's annoyed as hell that the BoS just blows up the mobile crawler at the end of Broken Steel and remarks about how it's "a pointless fireworks show- a complete waste!"

I didn't know anyone else cared about that besides me lmao.

Also having the vertibird "expert" be just "the first guy to successfully launch" and having notes in his computer about how he's sending the pilots to test dangerous stupid things like flying upside down and how he's the only adult (kid Maxton agrees, of course) who thinks the BoS should make a stupid blimp, which to me reads as "Isn't that thing stupid? Anyways here's some lore recognition/appreciation of it".

But moreover there's a degree of respect for how this branch of the brotherhood is so different- and the tensions that has caused within its ranks- because this mod seems (only just started) focused on showing those 2 sides, the BoS who want to open their doors and evolve and bring civilization back, and those who want to maintain control and tradition- it's neat, and it seems to show an appreciation for the "good guy" mentality this branch was shown to have but with some teeth I like.

Literally only just started since it's an end-game mod but I'm pleased- also it just stripped all my caps- I'm broke again after attaining a 50k stack because this and another mod were just stuffed with expensive stuff lol

I've just watched Purple Heart on Netflix (don't, it's a waste of time for more reasons than fits in this ask box) but it reminded me once again that it took me some time when I was younger to understand why having a severe health issue would lead to financial ruin and debt in several American movies (I'm French). Some things would be tough in France, like being able to afford a really good wheelchair (more expensive than SS price cap), but not diabetes like the girl in the movie, or cancer. 1/2

2/2 I don't understand how people who would have all reasons to be in favour of a state-subsidised, paid-by-social-contirbution (it's cotisation sociale in French, not quite like a tax in its principle) health care system. We do also have discrepancies between rich and poor and our hospital is on the brink of collapse but that's under investment, not the the solidarity system.

As I have written about in various posts before, it is impossible to overstate the damage that forty years of hard-right messaging, starting with Reagan and continued in some shape or form by almost all his successors, has done on the American psyche. Until the 1980s, taxes were high, the welfare net was robust, things like college, health care, house buying, etc were either readily affordable or heavily subsidised, and somehow this was not viewed as Socialism, even in the middle of the Cold War. But then when Reagan and company got in there and revamped the entire economic system to chiefly and only favor rich people, they had to come up with a way to sell it to everyone else. Thus the Myth of the Free Market became America's guiding philosophy, and it worked. Oh boy, did it work. It still works now. You should reject any benefit or system introduced by the government because blah blah bad (as if the chaotic for-profit privatised broken mess we have now works so well, but shh, don't criticise the capitalism. That is, as we all know, Socialism!)

Anyway... yeah. I feel it important to note, however, that despite the stereotypes, the core base of Trump/MAGA/Republican supporters actually are not poor. They do fit some of the expected demographics: largely white, male, straight, and don't have a college degree -- but they often make $50k or more a year, which is definitely not poverty level. We are often sold the "Economic Anxiety" canard about Trump voters (ignoring the fact that voting for a Republican to fix the mess created by Republican policies is, uh, confusing), but the people at the Capitol on January 6 had enough money to leave their jobs, arrange travel and hotel in DC, and buy Trump merch and weapons and God knows what else. Some of them even flew there by private jet. So on the one hand, yes, there are plenty of poor and working-class white people who have been so brainwashed by Reagonomics that they reject even those reforms/programs that would help them (and also don't want those programs to help non-white people). But a lot of the MAGA support is exactly what it looks like: well-off white people for whom this unfair economic system is working pretty damn well, who do not want to be forced by the Evil Government to redistribute any of it, and are eager to embrace fascist and fascist-adjacent social and cultural policies as a result.

I feel like fanworks of any medium in any fandom can be an inherently double-edged sword and the reason why, in a way, I'm glad I haven't tried to religiously pursue it.

On the one hand, it's a beautiful example of dedication, creativity, and often otherwise undiscovered/overlooked talent. It can also be a legitimate stepping stone to bigger things or, in a few lucky cases, the start of a career that utilizes those same interests or talents.

On the other hand, much of the audience has extremely specific desires and is commonly in flux in ways that some other areas of life and society don't have an exact equivalent for. To be blunt, they're really damn fickle sometimes.

You can be dazzlingly, brilliantly skilled at your craft and have good relations with your admirers/followers/clients, but if something else captures their attention for a sustained amount of time, you either have to adapt to what they want or accept that you might've lost that connection with that particular person or persons.

Some people adapt to other fandoms just fine and continue to enjoy that dynamic. Some even ride a "wave" effect (i.e. their own personal interests coincide with fans') as a new fandom crops up or an old one surges in popularity again. I wish those people all the best because that, too, is beautiful to see.

But for lack of a better word, it's problematic for some creatives. Y'all like to say "death to capitalism," but artists (*general term meaning any people who make stuff in any medium) doing things for money are, in fact, technically participating in capitalism in some shape or form. That's just how it is.

And that's OK. It's OK to try to make a living from things you like for the simple purpose of paying bills and eating 3 times a day and not needing to sleep in an alley. That's not a vice and it sure as hell isn't grounds for canceling.

I've seen so many shitty takes on this about how fans are entitled to fully rendered OC portraits or an entire 50k novel or a whole-ass crocheted blanket or an album-length music project for free because "*nonchalant shrug* I simply don't believe in The System(TM)," with no regard for the logistics involved and no understanding that the time it takes to make stuff is time that can't be used on other things (whether that means employment, sleep, eating, or basic mental health self-care).

There are people online - and especially here - who scrape by at a subsistence level by making art/crafts or writing fics or coding IFs or writing music. Some artists (*general term meaning any people who make stuff in any medium) do it specifically because they have a disability or health problem that precludes them from other options. Some are autistic or are dealing with other things that fundamentally impact how they function as a human in the world.

Translation: some people literally can't just yo-yo into a new subject at the whim of fandom trends. It literally doesn't compute for everyone. They're faced with the choice to force themselves into other subjects just to maintain connections/a little money or to become legitimately interested in said thing "too late" when the height of fandom enthusiasm has long since peaked.

I used to think that people just meant politics or cancel culture when they said "fandom is kind of like high school," but now I get it: there's a distinct popularity contest element to it - or there easily can be one - not necessarily about the quality of the creatives' finished expressions or even fans' personal tastes of those expressions, but the level of fandom involvement and population size itself.

It's no one's fault that it happens and it's usually totally innocent and incidental. It's also not necessarily a bad thing - far be it for me to discourage people from moving on to things that are better for their mental health or move away from things that were bad for it. But it's inevitable that some are left behind in the dust from time to time, even if the other/new fandoms make every effort to be welcoming.

The basest advice you often get is "go with the flow," but some people simply can't do that. They pour their hearts into a particular medium or niche topic or inspiration source because that particular Thing(TM) clicks for them in ways that other stuff doesn't. It's not as simple as "yeah sure w/e I'll draw the little space man today instead of a salmon."

So idk I would just suggest that, as one example, when y'all want to get an OC portrait and the artist you want to make it explicitly states which fandoms they can do and yours isn't on their list, at least ask NICELY if they'd be comfortable trying something new. Don't barge in and pressure them, because we tend to already pressure ourselves more than our due.

You'd be amazed how many people don't grasp this.

Who Cares About a Bunch of Dead Black & Brown People?

"Canadian wildfires" from this summer, if you remember them, were a "100 wildfires that started simultaneously in Canada". Yeah, okay.

Yet, if you recall, all the videos on the news and social media were of the smoke that completely filled and covered the sky on the east coast of the U.S. like a literal alien attack movie, like ID4.

People on social media reported seeing mushroom clouds and bombs being tested in NYC.

This is because the government was testing alien weaponry including bombs.

Right after the "Canadian wildfires", a former CIA director admitted in a Congressional hearing that "non-human remains" aka alien remains had been found by the government for years.

During this time this past summer, record levels of air pollution and toxicity were reported on the east coast as well as record humidity.

Yes, due to climate change but also due to government testing of confiscated alien weaponry and bombs that polluted the air and created unheard of levels of humidity.

Climate change has been known for decades and yet nothing real has been done about capitalism which drives every aspect of climate change, from the destruction of the rainforest by fast food conglomerates, to greenhouse gas emissions fueled by the auto industry, factory farming practices responsible for ethane from animal feces which is a huge climate change contributor plus all the millions of gallons of water required, drilling for oil, oil spills, oceanic pollution from non-biodegradable trash that ends up in the ocean, endless Amazon warehouses, endless SHEIN & Amazon landfills, air conditioning house at 70 degrees at all times, endless cars clogging the highway all rushing to nowhere to sit in traffic to waste the day away inside in a building wasting your life away for a paycheck & benefits, emitting pollutants out of your exhaust pipe smoke smog killing the environment depleting the ozone layer creating smog difficult to breathe, dirty machines belching smoke and gas on concrete highways to hell.

Yet noone does anything about rampant overconsumption, wastefulness, mindless spending, mindless buying, keeping up with the joneses, wasting money at IKEA, buying furniture to impress guests that never even come over, consumerism, materialism, oversized portions of food at restaurants, fast fashion worn today thrown in a landfill tomorrow, private jets killing the environment flying to nowhere for nothing, drones delivering Amazon packages that nobody needed in a day much less an hour and nobody does anything but to demand Amazon Prime deliveries in half an hour and Elon Musk is colonizing Mars and Bezos is flying rich wypipo to the moon.

This weekend, IGN via Bloomberg  reported 50k year old zombie viruses being released due to climate change causing Siberian glaciers to melt.

Government wants disabled, immunocompromised, elderly, lower income black and brown people gone. As many as possible.

Whoever else dies is just collateral damage.

Why?

Because by 2030, white people will become the minority in the US if current birthing trends continue and they will be replaced with blacks and hispanics making up the majority as their birth rates are much higher than white peoples especially amongst hispanics.

The elites are using the government to do whatever it can to reduce and delay this trend before white people become the minority in the US.

The government also wants to reduce Medicaid and Medicare enrollment as well as the money spent on these programs and what better way to do that than weaponizing viruses (COVID & 50k year old "zombie" viruses) via policies to kill off lower income food service, fast food and big box retail employees, people living in inner cities, disabled and the elderly, the majority of whom are black and hispanic?

Look at Beyonces and Taylor Swifts concerts over the summer, all the crowds and unmasking despite an increase in COVID cases, mutated COVID cases and long COVID cases with severe health consequences including extended hospitalizations and lung damage.

Why did noone care that this COVID resurgence was happening alongside the Eras and Renaissance tours with literally over a million people in attendance, extremely large crowds gathering with a real chance of concert attendees infecting one other?

Because, as we saw with George Floyd and the temporary black squares on Instagram, once the performative virtue signaling stage of COVID was over, nobody gave a fuck anymore and the elites know most people dont really gaf about poor, disabled, elderly black & brown people so the new COVID mantra became "stay tf inside if youre vulnerable, I aint wearing a mask to Eras or Renaissance cuz I look tew cute".

They correctly surmised people were o-v-a-h it and most had been summoned back to their wage slave 9 to 5 life of drudgery so they knew people wouldnt complain about the concerts as they had already done their "say her name Breonna Taylor" performative virtue signalling bullshit and now they wanted to shake their dreads to Slayonce and Taylor.

Who cares about a bunch of dead poor, disabled, elderly black & brown people anyway?

Abled culture teaches abled people to be entitled. You are entitled to never have to learn anything about disability and ableism. You are entitled to get to move through the world, and through our movements, with little-to-no understanding or political analysis about disability, even as you pontificate about every other system of oppression and violence. Abled culture in our movements mean that we will say, “we must center those who are most impacted,” all day every day, but then not include disabled, especially those who are high risk, in the center during a global pandemic. Abled entitlement means that you will still continue to plan your vacation abroad, even amidst the Delta surge; you will still post pictures from your giant family holiday gathering amidst the Omicron surge. 

You are not entitled to our deaths. You are not entitled to the deaths of our loved ones in the name of capital, privilege and “normal.” You are not entitled to our silence about our pain and suffering and the wet tar grief that envelops us. You are not entitled to our fear and terror at the worsening conditions and chaos of this pandemic, wondering if we will ever be able to safely leave our homes again.

Get a decent night's sleep? Wake up feeling completely unrested!

Eat the nutritious, balanced diet? Have your body completely reject it, so that you absorb next to none of those nutrients, and end up reaching for a giant pouch of Skittles for energy, because it's better than nothing!

Exercise? Get hit with post-exertional malaise so you can barely get out of bed for the next two days! (Ditto for showering.)

And then you tell people that you've tried doing the healthy things, and they don't work on you...and people act sceptical, like you're just not trying hard enough. Like you don't want to be well. But when the trying hard leads to nothing but your body giving you a giant 'screw you', it's easier and more effective to not even bother.

And her death won’t be the only one.

The once peaceful and quaint neighborhood of Silverfalls Court is thrown into chaos and upheaval when bodies keep showing up in the woods. When it becomes apparent that the murderer must be one of them, suspicions grow thick and trust is shattered.

Some, like Lisa-Marie Castel, want to play detective and solve the case on their own while others, like Dominique Pulmer, want to keep their heads down and wait for things to return to normal. Some might even wish to capitalize on the bizarre nature of the story while those who have been personally affected are left to pick up the broken pieces of their lives amidst the chaos.

19. A Light Shines Upon It

Just as he hoped, no one was awake anymore. The occasional sound of a cricket and the distant echo of cars from the main road were the only things that indicated life in the area. Otherwise, there was absolute silence. No one had gone outside during the day so it stood to reason that the same would be true during the night.

If anyone caught him out then he knew it would look bad. He also knew there would be no scapegoat to pin this murder on but, at the moment, the high of the kill still hadn’t worn off.

There was sure to be someone more suspicious than him anyway. No one would think he had anything to do with it.

They never had. And even if they started to suspect something, he’d think of an excuse.

Those thoughts started to swarm in his head as he pushed the door open to his house with quiet purpose. His adrenaline was still raging in his body but his mind was forcing him to come down from the euphoria a little sooner than he was used to.

With a mumbled curse, he locked his door back behind him. Just as he flipped the last lock, the light over him switched on.

“What were you doing, dad?” Victoria’s voice greeted him.

She wasn’t even supposed to be in the house. All weekend she’d spent with Polly and her kids and now?

Jason scowled and turned to face her. “I took a walk around the court. What are you doing up so late? And back here of all places?”

“Oh no.” She shook her head. “You’re not turning this on me.”

Just as her words left her, Serena joined her in the hallway. She crossed her arms and glared at Jason with ferocity. “It’s over, Mr. Burns.”

“And what, exactly, do you mean by that?” They were just teenagers, he thought, what could they possibly have on him? Even if they ‘deduced’ that he’d done everything, it wouldn’t hold up in court. Especially not since he had some pretty air tight alibis.

“It means we know you killed everyone—except Lamar.” Victoria narrowed her eyes at him. “There’s no one else it can be.”

Jason shook his head as a smile started to form across his face. “Oh, Vicky…you’re still upset about the room situation. I know it wasn’t okay to lock you in there but I wasn’t sure what else to do. And, for the record, your mother had no problem with it. I was the one who felt conflicted so you should really take this up with her—not me.”

His daughter scoffed. “It’s not about the fucking room! It’s about you killing people!”

“Who? When?”

“Leigh. Eight months ago.” Serena answered. “Then my brother, Susan Vick, Mrs. Winter, Mr. Castel…”

“And what would my reason be?” Jason asked since they clearly had nothing other than their childish intimidation games.

“You must have found out about me and Leigh,” Victoria replied without pause.

“That’s one motive. What are the others?” He leaned against the threshold, letting both girls know he felt no pressure from them. No matter how adamantly they believed it, their beliefs weren’t fact as far as the law was concerned.

“You got a taste for blood and couldn’t stop,” Serena took over, “My brother was convenient—a young boy out alone in the middle of the night. Then with Susan you…she must have just been a more enticing challenge.”

Jason couldn’t help but let out a chuckle. “You have nothing.”

The funniest part was that they weren’t even that far off from the truth. They were just missing details and, of course, all important evidence.

Eight months ago, when Victoria came home with a failed test, Jason had to be the one to confiscate her phone and demand she stay in her room to study. Hailey always had a difficult time implementing discipline—she always made him do it.

He kept Victoria’s phone on him as he sat in his home office and took care of some paperwork from home. If he left her phone out and in Hailey’s care, Victoria would surely sneak about and get it back when her mother wasn’t paying attention. With him, it was safe.

As he typed with his focus singularly on the spreadsheet on his screen, Victoria’s phone started to ring. Jason only noticed from his peripherals and let it ring.

Then a voicemail appeared.

He stopped what he was doing and snatched up the device. The name on both the missed call and the voicemail was ‘Leigh’. She was a girl from Victoria’s school who had been over once or twice for some project the kids were working on. Jason wasn’t aware they were close enough to have each other’s numbers though.

His curiosity got the better of him and he selected the voicemail to listen to it.

The girl’s voice was soft and clearly full of nerves as she spoke. “Um…hey, Victoria. I’m…I’m gonna meet you out in our usual spot by the old playground. Remember to bring a flashlight,” she laughed then continued, “I can’t wait to see you…Um…yeah, see you soon. I’ll wear that shirt you like…”

Jason looked down at the phone with a puzzled frown. The tone of her voice was…flirty almost. He thought back to when Leigh was in his house and how she looked at his daughter.

They were seeing each other. Romantically. Possibly sexually.

He stood up from his desk and walked straight into the garage. His wife and daughters had gone to bed so he kept all of the lights off as he picked out his wire-saw that didn’t get nearly as much use as he’d intended when he first bought it. But it was a perfect tool now—small, compact, but effective.

Along with that, Jason also slipped on some gloves and headed to the backdoor.

The old playground that Leigh described was in the woods outside the neighborhood—right between Silverfalls and where Leigh lived. He waited close by and listened for the distinctive sound of a human’s footsteps. Though, as it turned out, he hadn’t needed to be listening so intently since the girl was flashing a light all around the woods as she walked.

He simply stepped into her line of sight as she approached. “What are you doing out here at this time of night?”

Leigh froze for a moment before responding with the kind of bumbling nerves he expected, “Um…well…I was just…tired but I…couldn’t sleep. So I took a walk.”

“In the woods? At midnight?” Jason raised his brow.

Her eyes traveled downward as she mumbled, “I…I should head home.”

“Should I walk you back?” He asked and then, after a pause, added, “Should I let your parents know what you’re up to?”

That got her attention. “N-no! Please, I don’t want to get in trouble.”

“Do they know what you’re out here for?” He doubted they did—if so, she’d never be allowed out again.

“I’m sorry. I’ll go back home. Please don’t tell anyone.” She started to get desperate.

“Why, I won’t tell…” Jason responded and walked closer. He considered playing with her since she was so eager to stay alive but he also didn’t want to be out for too long. This opportunity was a blessing as it was—he couldn’t waste it.

“T-thank you,” Leigh finally spoke again. “I won’t sneak out again. I promise.”

“You’re right,” Jason seconded and reached his hand out toward her. “You won’t.”

“Please,” she begged as tears streamed down her face. “Please don’t…”

That was it—the face he remembered so fondly from his college days. The two women whose lives he’d snuffed out had each looked at him with that same desperation.

And he couldn’t push back that monstrous urge any longer. He’d managed it for almost eighteen years now but no more. Not when he knew he could get away with it again. Not when he knew how good it would feel.

So he lunged for her and easily overpowered her. He pulled the wire around her neck and held her close to him, crushing her throat and denying her air. And, once she became limp, he simply dropped her there and went back home.

Leigh’s death was all over the news and in all of the neighbor’s mouths but the Halloween party was still held without a hitch. Lisa-Marie was probably getting a kick out of the mystery, Jason figured. He’d talked to her at length about unsolved cases before—two of which were his own doing. That was always fun.

Jason watched as his kids ran off at the party and Hailey stuck by the Castels to gossip. He hung around only to hear their theories on the murder before he started to walk about, looking to see who all had made it. Naturally, the old people and Mabel had opted out of the block party but, to his surprise, Dominique Pulmer had come and not alone.

The man was, apparently, ready to come out of the closet since he brought his flamboyant boyfriend with him. Jason ran across him along with Carson and Diana. The trio had a lot of random questions to ask about Leigh.

“Have you been talking to Lisa-Marie?” he asked them with an arched eyebrow.

“No, we’re just interested to see if anyone knows anything,” Carson answered and gave Jason a look he was all too familiar with. He was hit with the urge to shoo them off but he kept it in.

“I’m not sure about anything other than the fact my daughter knew the girl.” Jason looked around the immediate area. “Though, speaking of her, she seems to have disappeared. Excuse me.”

He pushed past the group and used Victoria’s absence as an excuse to avoid them further as they talked to pretty much everyone else at the party. Really, he didn’t care where Victoria was or what she was doing. Most of the other teenagers were gone as well so he was sure they’d all snuck off somewhere.

Polly only had her two youngest with her so Jason stopped by her to ask where their kids had gone. A faint idea had started to form in his mind about Victoria though it would only become relevant if others started to suspect people from Silverfalls of Leigh’s murder. All he needed now was to plant some seeds of doubt and it all started with a look.

Jason glanced down at Polly and frowned. “Are Serena and Peter with my daughter? Do you know?”

She nodded. “I think they all grouped together. Though…I haven’t seen them for a minute…”

He huffed and checked from side to side again. “I’ll go ask around.”

There were the Jungs who were missing their children as well but Jason had no desire to talk to them. Not when he spotted Susan Vick.

He had to force down the smile that wanted to make its way onto his lips as he approached her. She was wearing all black, like usual, and he wasn’t sure if she was dressed up for the holiday or not.

“Excuse me, Susan,” Jason spoke and grabbed her attention. “You haven’t happened to have seen my daughter, have you?”

Susan tilted her head to the side in thought. Her eyes were lined with black and red liner giving her an extra alluring appearance that sent a tingle down Jason’s body and caused his pants to tighten. Her chest was concealed in her ‘costume’ but he could still follow the curves of her body and imagine what was underneath the fabric.

“I don’t think I’ve seen either of your daughters. Sorry.” She smiled a little.

“Well…thanks. I’ll keep looking then.”

“I’ll keep my eyes peeled.” Susan brushed some of her hair behind her slender shoulder. Jason swore he caught a wink from her before she left him to return to her husband.

Lisa-Marie’s announcement came next and Jason looked to the stage to see Polly not too far away. She must have grown genuinely concerned about her kids.

He walked back to her and assured her that they were just hanging out and being kids. Even if they were out in the woods, it wasn’t as if they were in danger.

Though, Jason supposed, if he hadn’t been the one to kill Leigh he might have been worried about Victoria when she didn’t come home for the next several hours.

He retired to bed before she got home and, after an unsuccessful attempt to convince Hailey to have sex, he fell asleep. In his dreams, he was greeted by Susan in the woods who wore only a black cape and heels. She dropped to her knees and did for him what Hailey never wanted to.

Jason woke before the dream ended and was burdened with a tent in his pants. He grumbled and walked to the bathroom to take care of it himself but he stopped as he passed by the window.

On the street below, Victoria was walking back along with the other kids who had been out. Jason checked over his shoulder to see the time—midnight.

He sighed when he realized that he couldn’t go through with his plan to masturbate since Victoria’s room was on the other side of the bathroom wall. He could go to his office but the cleanup would be a pain.

Then he realized that there was a spot in the woods that no one was occupying any longer. There was nowhere more private and he wouldn’t have to worry about cleaning up after himself either.

Jason threw on a coat and snuck out through the backdoor for privacy’s sake, though he doubted anyone would be up at the hour. He returned to the spot where he killed Leigh and reached into his jacket pocket. The wire-saw was still there.

After a short chuckle, he got back to business. He replayed the dream in his mind and reached into his pants. Now that he was in the woods, he could almost picture the scene with his eyes open and his arm moved all the quicker.

“…Mr. Burns?”

Jason stopped mid-pump and turned around to see a boy with a flashlight aimed at him. Peter.

The boy looked at him with a mixture of disgust and horror. “What are you…?”

Jason let go of himself and then retrieved the wire from his jacket. He sighed—he hadn’t intended on killing again. “Why’d you have to come back out here?” He groaned and walked closer to him.

Peter’s arm shook, causing the light to bounce around. His eyes stayed down at Jason’s still exposed erection though he certainly didn’t want to be looking. “I’m sorry—I won’t tell anyone or anything—”

He didn’t get another word out before Jason grasped his throat. Peter had more fight in him than Leigh but he still wasn’t a match for Jason’s size or strength.

After feeling the life leave him, Jason tossed him to the ground behind a tree and covered him with some leaves. He let out a hefty breath once he deemed his work done. Then he returned his hand to his dick and finished what he’d started.

Not long after sunrise, Jason heard the doorbell ring. He hung back as Hailey answered and he listened for a second before joining her.

“Hon, who’s at the door?” He saw the Rosellos and Jungs so he became more alert.  “Oh…what’s going on…?”

“Can you go get our daughters, please?” Hailey demanded of him so he did as she asked.

Of course, he already knew what this was about but he gave Victoria and Madison a vague and confused explanation. They joined the other two families as they went on a search for Peter. Hailey brought the dogs with them so there was almost no chance they weren’t finding Peter’s body by the end of the day.

Jason kept a face of concern and slight bewilderment as they scouted the woods. He helped call out Peter’s name while keeping an eye on his dogs. When they ran off, he didn’t follow them immediately and just waited.

Their barks alerted everyone else and Hailey turned to him.  “Where are they?” she asked.

Jason waited, acting as if he was trying to deduce their location based off of their continued barks. “That way.” He gestured and then said, “Come on, let’s go.”

The group followed behind him and Jason did his best to hide his smile even if no one was close enough to see it. He kept the others away as he approached his dogs and then, when he looked down at the ground, he caught sight of Peter’s body.

His dogs had removed some of the leaves and partly drug Peter as if in an attempt to bring him to the group. Or eat him—Jason couldn’t be sure. He pushed that possibility to the side as he reacted. “Oh no…”

Polly, naturally, ran over and promptly fell to the ground to hold her son. Serena followed behind her but Jason didn’t let anyone else get close. From the group’s perspective, it would seem as if he was preventing Claire and Miguel from seeing something traumatic.

Just like with Leigh, no one would think it was him.

A Brutally Honest Prosperity Of Life Review – Must Read Before Joining

So you want to know in this Prosperity of Life Review if its legit? And if it can help you achieve the financial and time freedom they promise?

From my 7 years experience with the company, yes it can.

But…there’s a lot they don’t tell you about. And it’s not as easy as they make it seem.

In this review, I'm going to be brutally honest and breakdown Prosperity Of Life… I'll reveal what I discovered during my 7 years as a distributor and customer – including the good, the bad, and…yes…the ugly.

This entire review is a must read before you make any decision to join.

But first…

I’m Not With Prosperity Of Life Anymore… After 7 years in the company, and experiencing some stress and anxiety because of it, I left Prosperity of Life in 2018 and moved to a new company.

I’ll share that story by the end of this review so you know what pitfalls to avoid.

For now, know that Prosperity of Life has not paid me to write this. So I’ll be trying to maintain a balanced and unbiased perspective.

I'll also share some ex-member testimonials throughout so you can know both sides of the story.

Who Am I

You might be wondering who I am and why you should listen to me…

I was a Prosperity of Life distributor from 2011 to 2018, an M8 Director, and a Rising Star Award winner. I've attended many of the events, spoken on stage, hosted training calls, and made some incredible 5-figure months, and even days.

I also went on cruise ships (pre-COVID times) and traveled the world with the owners, Shane & Rachel Krider and Greg Strom, and many members in the community.

But leading up to Prosperity of Life, I was in the same boat you’re probably on right now… It was 2011, and I was a frustrated and underpaid office worker, drowning in $50,000 debt. I was working a dead-end job, and I felt like I was working only to pay off an ever-expanding amount of debt.

When I'd have enough of living the same routine week in and week out, Prosperity of Life kinda just fell into my laps.

I wasn’t specifically looking for an online business. In fact, I didn’t even know you could make money online, let alone know what network marketing is.

But after watching their presentation, I loved the idea of being able to work from home, and hopefully make $20,000 per month within a couple of months.

So without doing any research (though I should have), I joined and bought in.

The $20K in a month didn’t happen in the first couple of months, like the presentation made me think it would. It didn’t happen until much later.

Though, as a result of this company and the industry, I quit my last ever job within 2 years. I also found the woman of my dreams, we had two beautiful children, and we both became stay-at-home parents.

The greatest gift being that we’ve never missed a single beat of our kids growing up. And they’ve never known mummy or daddy to work away from home.

But my experience with Prosperity of Life was not all sunshine and rainbows… When you’re in something long enough, you start seeing the truth behind the truth.

But before we get into that, let’s dive into some facts…

What Is Prosperity Of Life? Prosperity of Life (POL), formerly Liberty League International, is a network marketing company based out of the U.S.A. & UAE. The company offers a business opportunity and personal development/wealth creation products as online courses and live events.

Personal development covers activities that improve awareness and identity, develop talents and potential, build human capital and facilitate employability, enhance quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations.

The opportunity is marketed as a “business in a box”. They provide the products, tools, and training to make money online and “get rich.”

On their marketing materials, you’ll hear of distributors making $10K, $20K, $50K, and even $100K+ months, working from home in only 2-3 hours per day.

Sounds intriguing, right?

Unfortunately, the truth is more brutal than that, which we'll get to soon.

How is Prosperity of Life based in the USA and UAE? Prosperity of Life trades for the corporate entity Polaris Global Marketing LLC in the USA. Xpansion Event Management Services sells and manages the products and events in the UAE.

Who Are The Founders? Prosperity of Life is co-owned by Shane & Rachel Krider, and Gregory Strom.

Shane & Rachel Krider typically operate the company from multiple countries, previously residing in Chile, Italy, Thailand, and currently Portugal.

Shane Krider got his start in network marketing in 1998 with a company similarly structured to Prosperity of Life, except selling travel tickets and events.

Rachel Krider, wife of Shane Krider, got her start in MLM with the health company Herbalife and became a top distributor and trainer there.

After 5 years, she made the switch to Liberty League International. 7 months into LLI, she generated a $100,000 per month income.

When Shane Krider bought out Brent Payne for Liberty League International, Rachel became a co-owner and the head of marketing for the new company Polaris Global, which later rebranded as Prosperity of Life.

Greg Strom is co-creator of the Beyond Freedom Evolution program with Shane Krider, and is lead media and content producer of all Prosperity of Life education products and documentaries.

Greg has also produced and directed over 1,000 television commercials, music videos, and feature films, including commercials that were featured on the Super Bowl and broadcast media platforms worldwide.

What Is Network Marketing? As you know, when Prosperity of Life fell in my laps, I didn’t know what network marketing was. Or that the industry even existed.

Before I joined, I even shared Prosperity of Life’s business presentation with two close friends, only to have them call it a pyramid scheme and tell me that Prosperity of Life is a scam.

Of course, I didn’t listen and joined anyways. And I’m grateful I did, as the network marketing and home business industry changed my life forever.

Though, I wish someone would've educated me on what network marketing was before I joined… So let me help you do that.

Multi-level marketing (MLM), also called network marketing or pyramid selling, is a controversial marketing strategy for the sale of products or services where the revenue of the MLM company is derived from a non-salaried workforce selling the company's products or services, while the earnings of the participants are derived from a pyramid-shaped or binary compensation commission system.

Basically, network marketing is where a company sells their products and services through a network of independent sales representatives (or distributors) to new customers.

Instead of the company selling their own products by spending millions of dollars on advertising, distributors sell those products either through friends and family or by paying for advertising to generate their own leads or enquiries.

The network marketing model allows a company to have higher profit margins, and therefore pay bigger profits and commissions to distributors.

Why is network marketing controversial? In brief, some companies operate with shady tactics that trick people into spending substantial amounts of money by promising “sizeable commissions” or that they'll “get rich” if they help to recruit others into the program.

Companies like this typically:

Make presentations seem like everyone will make $10K, $20K, or $50K+ per month. They have never-ending “upsell” products into the tens of thousands of dollars. They use fear tactics to make people buy “all” the products, otherwise “you'll be leaving a lot of money on the table.” And most people only buy the products with the “hopes” of recruiting others to make the big incomes. Basically, the balance between distributors and customers is way off. Only a small percentage buy the products because they truly want the products vs the business opportunity. As you can see…

It’s very easy for the average person to lose a lot of money with the wrong company… I’ve personally seen people spend their entire life savings on a business with the promise that they’ll get rich, only to never make a single cent…even if they did the work.

But there's also great network marketing companies… Companies that don’t share income testimonials, so not to set unrealistic expectations. Where people promote products first, and the opportunity second. Where you don’t have to “buy all the products” in order to make a great income from selling them. Companies that maintain a ratio of 70% customers and 30% distributors. And where they don’t use fear tactics and never-ending upsell sequences to squeeze every last dime from new members. So choosing the right network marketing business is very important. You don't want a company shut down because they were doing the wrong thing, after you've invested thousands of dollars with them.

In saying that, network marketing is still a great industry where anyone, with the right company, training and mentorship, can start making a great income from home.

For me personally, I would rather a business model with the ability to make $1000+ per sale than only $50-$100 per sale. It usually, depending on the business, requires the same level of work ethic for vastly different amounts of income.

From A Product Perspective: I’ve invested well over $100,000 on my personal development and marketing education (in and outside of Prosperity of Life). Not because I’ve had to, but because I’m passionate about personal growth and developing new skill sets.

From everything I’ve done (including Tony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki and more), Prosperity of Life is relatively up there in terms of quality, easy to understand and actionable content that can help one get results. (As long as you apply the material, of course!)

You won't find any high-level Personal Development education for free on the internet. Sure, you can find tons of short Personal Development videos on YouTube, but nothing in a structured course format that will help you go from A-Z as fast as possible.

In saying that, there’s also tons of personal development courses you can buy online. I've paid $300 for courses from Tony Robbins and other industry leaders that have helped me far more.

Prosperity of Life courses are great. Though most of its monetary value is in the ability to resell the business opportunity. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.

What about the Prosperity of Life events? Yes, I’ve been to other events too and Prosperity of Life events are great personal development conferences. Though again, you're paying more for the the ability to resell the opportunity.

Do you have to buy the events? Only if they’re a fit for you.

I’ve known a lot of distributors who only stayed at M1 or M7 level.

Personally, I upgraded a couple of months in because I wanted access to all the education and higher profits.
