Hey mcytblr writers, are you in the mood for a challenge? Looking for something to inspire your creativity? Do you want to make something absolutely kickass? Simply love looking at cool art? What if I told you there was a way you could hit any and or all of those objectives by participating in a mcytblr event?

Well, let me introduce you to the Aufest Reverse Big Bang, currently during Artist Creation period! Artists have a month to make an au mcyt art piece ready to inspire writers, and then writers will have two months to write something 5k or longer, inspired by the art! We currently have over 160 artists in the discord working on their creative pieces, and the sneak previews the mod team have seen has been incredible.

But— we are halfway through the artist's creation period, and we currently have more artists than writers. We don't want any artists to run the risk of going without a writer, so we are looking for more writers! Does writing something inspired by an art piece sound like a challenge you're up for? We're not in the writing phase yet, but we are getting ready for it to start in the beginning of June. Join our discord today, and join all the other writers waiting anxiously for the art to be released next month! We are all sitting around vibrating with excitement while the artists work! It's fun!

First, I want to say and express my thanks to each and every person who has followed me since I started this blog back in 2023. It’s been a slow climb but I’m thankful for everyone that has followed me for my works and/or random gif reblogs haha. When I first started on this writing journey on tumblr, I never imagined meeting such great friends and fellow creatives. I’m so happy to have met these wonderful friends that get the brain and ideas churning, playfully scream at me to work on a random idea that pops into my head and be able to spazz on just about everything. Thank you (to name a few) @lovetaroandtaemin, @heechwe, @unholywriters, @kwanisms, @aeristudios, @wooahaeproductions, @pars-ley, @rems-writing, @acupoftaewithsomesuga, @itsnotmydejavu and many others that helped cheer me on and supported me on this writing journey. Thank you all (vocal readers and silent ones) and I hope you all continue on this journey with me as I grow as a writer and create new stories.

You can request an idol from the groups that I mainly write for (ATZ, NCT, SVT or someone from Beast/Highlight, Nuest, Monsta X, and BTOB if you want) and one of the prompts below. The word count for these fics will be 2K or under as I'm trying not to make these too long since I have other long wips.

I will take one request for each prompt so please make sure to check the list. If it’s crossed-out, someone has already chosen it. If I get any duplicates, I will ask you to choose something else.

I will write SFW and/or NSFW but please take note that I will not write NSFW for NCT’s Chenle, Jisung and NCT Wish (since I do not write for them at all). Please note that I do not write anything that will contain: works with minors, incest, pedophilia, any forms of graphic sexual assault, graphic abuse, glorifying violence, animal abuse, glamorizing saesang behavior, eating disorders, mental illnesses.

Toki Reads Shonen Jump 2024, Issue #52: Self-Harm Week

HxH: Morena's card game begins, and she exposits that she was conceived in a state-sanctioned non-consensual orgy; Borksen learns that thanks to Nen restrictions, she actually does have actually does have an escape route. The implications of Morena's backstory are certainly staggering, but also lost on me

Yozakura: Taiyo has an "I know you're in there" fight with himself, ending with him expelling Asa by shooting himself in the heart. Taiyo's willingness to damage his own body to make it uninhabitable to Asa doesn't seem ideal, but definitely preferable to being possessed

Undead Unluck: Soul tries to force Andy and Victor's souls back together, but Rip cuts them apart permanently with Unrepair. This is Rip's capstone, where he finally uses Unrepair for someone else's happiness instead of ruining his own with it

Roboco: Roboco writes more shameless ripoff manga, but finally learns that her own original material is a lot better. I have no faith that this lesson will stick

Sakamoto: Atari's luck has literally run out; she reveals to Tenkyu that his friendship w/ Uzuki is irreparable; Shin resolves to kill Tenkyu, even if it means severing ties with Sakamoto. Both Tenkyu and Shin are losing their friends because they're killing in their name against their wishes; Atari's an idiot for using such an obscene amount of luck last chapter just to fire ONE bullet

EluSam: Tokiyuki and realKojiro gush over Kojiro as he fights Nagao; the scene cuts away to Mima getting into architecture and interior design. This seems to have an affect on enemy morale, but I feel like it's not worth ignoring what seems to be Kojiro's most important fight

Witch Watch: The flashback gang discusses the legacy of Familiars and their prejudice towards humanity; Kuon warms up to the team, and Taiga raises more death flags. The idea of magic fading away as a sign of peaceful times is a topic I've been thinking about a lot lately because I've been revisiting Medaka Box; this may inform a future essay

Blue Box: Taiki endears himself to Chinatsu's dad with his earnest, if a bit overbearing, nature. I'm glad we're not drawing out the tension too much, it makes the dad more relatable

Akane: Despite Miroku's refusal to let them perform, Shiguma and Issho learn enough rakugo for Kiroku to give them a slot; Miroku offers to grant Kiroku his name and rank if he will use it to expel the pair. This is clearly the event that led to the founding of the Arakawa School, but even with a foregone conclusion, it's a nailbiter

Kill Blue: Juzo and Shin use assassin techniques to advertise the bakery; Yoichiro wagers his staff's bonuses to whichever club can beat their challenges. Clearly he's plotting something, but I can't quite see yet how this furthers his plans

Nue: Rido spontaneously achieves his Bankai Spirit Armor and promptly passes out. It looks cool, but I'm already so unclear on this power system's rules that such an upgrade only serves to confuse me further

Kagurabachi: In a side story, we revisit everyone's favorite guy, Sojo, trying desperately to enjoy a bath despite his routine being ruined at every turn. Looking back, I'm sad that Sojo died; I hope he continues to haunt the narrative

Chojo: Keinain's new assistant, Makami, finds everything about the Chinjuku station to be lewd; this is not because she's a prude, but an extremely repressed pervert. Would

Astro Royale: Himuro reveals he became a cop to stop the Yotsurugi family from interfering with his dad's business, but only found out later that they were supporting him through hard times; the damage he caused this business relationship resulted in his father's suicide; he eats the Daybreak Ore and becomes a mutated mass. Himuro's motivations now reflect Kinpa's, but just like he hurt his dad by targeting the Yotsurugi's, his rage is misdirected and self-destructive

Kiyoshi: Asuta's time runs out and he gets away, cementing the sacrifices made to summon him; as he leaves, he calls Kiyoshi his soulmate in a perverse twist on Kiyoshi's own desire for friendship. Axe-deniers when the lead fails and lets 100 innocent people die - 🎉🍾🥳🎊🥂; throw the yaoi girlies in there too since there's about to be a huge boost in sales

Hima-Ten: Tenichi takes up the rear on the class hike; Himari fakes an injury to keep him company. Very cute, but how the hell does this moron not realize she's in love???

Ichi: Just before the contest begins, Ichi sees a mysterious figure; the Kindake Magik vows to kill everyone who doesn't worship his mushrooms, then escapes into his mushroom forest. So much for not being a human-hater; Togeice's poor sense of direction will certainly make this challenge much harder on her

Shinobi: Yodaka sabotages Hachikuma's strings and turns them against him. Though heavy-handed, Yodaka straightening and braiding Hachikuma's discarded, tangled strings as a symbol of the value of putting effort into maintaining relationships is sweet

Hakutaku: The mechanics of the AR game are explained, but Hikuma sleeps through people actually enjoying it. Maybe it's cus I don't like mobile games, but I do not see the appeal of this game, which is probably the most damning indictment of a game design manga

Syd Craft: Elio is revealed to be Levie Olyn, Syd's favorite romance author, who became his assistant after he cleared her name in a case; she writes her books to vent her DEFINITELY NOT ROMANTIC feelings for Syd. That's a great dynamic, I love girls who pine, I'm super endeared to this idiot

My top 3 manga for the week are:

Undead Unluck, unsurprisingly, for its fantastic color page, multiple great spreads, and at least two of what will undoubtedly become the most iconic moments in the entire series; congrats on netting the final cover of the year!

Syd Craft for continuing to expand upon its concept in a way that really appeals to me; let it be known I never said Tsutsui was a bad author, I just said he was a coward

Kiyoshi for dodging the axe, establishing an interesting dynamic between Kiyoshi and Asuta, and the bravery to leave it on such a bleak cliffhanger

Runners up include Astro Royale and Shinobi Undercover, both for giving me some interesting symbolism to chew on, as well as Hima-Ten and Chojo for women in denial that fall short of Elio

Edit: I want to correct something I said last week - it does not seem like Bug Ego is joining Weekly Jump after all, I think someone I follow on twitter either got a bad tip or I misunderstood what they said. Bug Ego was added to the Shonen Jump app, not Shonen Jump itself. Apologies for any confusion!

I wanted to introduce myself, I'm BlackCat and I write cozy love stories on Ao3 ^.^

I decided to start a blog to interact more with the lovely people of the Marauders Fandom and maybe share a few drabbles/ microfics/ art (who knows)

A few ground rules and disclaimers:

The Language of Flowers

This was the first fic I wrote. It's Wolfstar Muggle AU about two lonely people getting together to face the challenges of their lives together. Remus's chronic illness has prevented him from making meaningful connections all his life and Sirius has to embrace some radical honesty to be the kind of friend, brother and partner he's always been destined to be. Sirius owns a flower shop and Remus is the editor of a Medical Magazine.

When the Fire is Low

This is the fic I'm most proud of. It's also my longest. Another Wolfstar Muggle AU set in South Africa in a game farm owned by James's family following the death of his father. Sirius, a photographer trying to find his place in the world, meets Remus, a grumpy bush ranger with a heart of gold. Sparks fly (pun intended) and several great love stories ensue (includes Jily and Dorlene). The stakes are a little bit higher in this one and it's really a glorified love letter to South Africa <3 There's also a sequel WIP.

52 Dates

This is a Muggle Au friends to lovers fic where they're pretty much a married couple in denial. Sirius resolves to go on a date every week for a year to finally break his single streak, but the dating world is the 9th circle of hell, and he quickly burns out. He's also flatmates with the love of his life, but that's totally irrelevant, right?

All my fics are Happy Ending guaranteed and many of them are spicy

Honkai Star Rail Ficlet Series Collection Post

Since the beginning of writing about 6000 years ago, humans have written down many things, from accounting information to the daily thoughts of those observing historical events, leaving a wealth of information behind for us to read through, even with those records that have been lost to the grist of time. Archival research involves studying these records for both primary and secondary resources.

A library differs from an archive in that a library contains published documents that generally aren't unique and are maintained for use while an archive contains unique items, many of which are not published in any way, and can be in any format. Archives often have a particular focus of materials that they collect and limit access to their collections.

The oldest collections that could be called archives go back to at least 1180 with the collections of scrolls from the clerk's offices in Barcelona, Spain, where it was mentioned as a king's archive. In 1194, King Alfonso II of Aragon ordered the compilation of documents that were legally valid and useful, some of which dated back to the 9th century. In 1318, under James II of Aragon, the General Archive of the Crown of Aragon was established as the central archive of the Crown. Many countries have national archives that were established after that and have documents that go back as far as 625 CE (as in the French Archives Nationales) with the United States National Archives and Records Administration having documents that include an original copy of the Magna Carta.

Universities are also repositories of record collections, both of their own business as well as those that have been bequeathed to them. They also might have collections that are focused on a single subject, ranging from religion to local history. Religious institutes, such as the Vatican, which reportedly has more than 52 miles (83.69 km) of archival shelving, and museums are also repositories of document collections. There are also an increasing collection of digital collections, which bring about their own challenges, such as technology creep, which is the gradual loss of older technologies (think of the loss of VCR machines making VCR tapes harder to view or the removal of optical drives from computers). Archives, whether traditional or digital, also face the degradation of time and the risk of catastrophic destruction.

Archival research begins with locating an archive that holds the needed documents that apply to the desired topic, which has become easier with online searches. Prior to this, union catalogs, which were library catalogs that describe the collections of archives were distributed among universities. The next challenge is locating the texts within the archive. Many archives operate until the principle of respect des fonds, or the original order in which they were received in order to maintain provenance. Finding aids, such as registers, card catalogs, or inventories, are a common tool to aid researchers in locating materials.

Prior to digitization, archives had to be accessed on-site as they were parts of non-circulating collections. As such, most archives have reading rooms, where materials can be viewed. If the reading room is not directly connected to the collection, it may take days or weeks for materials to be delivered. Many of the materials held by archives are fragile and therefore have restrictions placed on their use or duplication. Restrictions may also be placed on what can be taken or worn within a reading room to protect documents from damage or theft.

What I’ve learned from a year of writing goals

My New Years’ Resolutions for 2024 were all related to my writing, and I’m pleased to say that I completed most of them. They all taught me new things about myself as a writer so I thought I’d share them in an end-of-year round up. I’ll go over each one and what it taught me

Goal 1: Write at least 1000 words every week ✅

This was the main goal I had, and the intention behind it was to make sure I was writing consistently, and therefore making consistent progress. Even if I wrote the minimum for each week, that’d still be 52K words written during the year - and that’s guaranteed, not a few thousand cranked out all at once until I’m burnt out followed by months of inactivity

I found that watching my word count increase so often was actually really motivating for me personally, though I’d expected it to be more daunting at first. And some days I’d write a lot more than just the 1K, which was even more exciting. I remember one day I was so excited and inspired for one particular chapter that I cranked out the entire thing in one go, and that was so much fun. Other days I’d be struggling to even get through the 1000 words because I just wasn’t inspired or motivated enough, or I’d have writer’s block

What I found helped get over this was knowing I didn’t have to necessarily like what I wrote, just that I had to meet 1000 words by the end of the week, so I’d always sit down for a proper writing session every Monday morning - if I couldn’t get over a mental block, I had plenty of time to set it aside and come back another day before the deadline came up. Usually, however, I’d complete it all in one sitting, which was another really motivating thing. I could then spend the rest of the week doing other things so I wouldn’t get burnt out on writing or worrying about not being productive enough

One downside I did encounter was that, once I’d complete the goal for the week, I’d not want to go back to it until the next week rolled around - it almost felt like it wasn’t worth starting a new writing session if it wouldn’t contribute to the goal. That’s something I’d like to counter in future by coming up with further incentives for additional writing sessions or going over the goal

Goal 2: Have a draft of 90K+ words by the end of the year ✅

I chose 90K as my desired word count because fantasy novels usually have a 90K word count on the low end, so it seemed sensible to aim for that. I started the year with around 45K words - meaning my goal was for an additional 45K and therefore very much achievable in 52 weeks - and now I’m ending it on 110K, making for a difference of around 65,000 words

I think it was around September that I reached 90K, and I was so excited about it; I’d already completed one of my goals and it wasn’t even close to the deadline. But there was something strange going on at this point in time; I’d reached one of my word count goals, but I wasn’t even close to finishing the story yet. Even now I can’t say that I’m even quite in the end game yet. I ended up writing a lot more than I planned - and that’s okay, because it’s only a first draft right now, and because of that I want to focus more on quantity than quality

I think having this goal was really motivating while it was in effect, because seeing myself getting closer and closer to that seemingly unattainable number was exciting and made me feel really proud of myself. I think reaching that goal a lot sooner than I planned taught me a lot about how I’m more capable than I previously thought, and that I should give myself more credit and trust myself to overcome more daunting challenges. This goal gave me a lot more confidence in my process

Goal 3: Finish the first draft by the end of the year ❌

This was the only goal that I wasn’t able to complete; I’m still a good few chapters away from finishing the draft

I think what influenced this the most was my pacing; as time went on and I began to write more for quantity than quality, and new plots and subplots were hitting different beats, the pacing began to fluctuate and I became more heavy on the description. I also wanted to ensure I added plenty of downtime for the characters to break apart the constant calamity and busywork and, well, they have a lot of walking to do as they travel, so it was easy to throw in around the main plot

I’m not disappointed about failing this goal because it means that I’ve taken the time to put real effort into my work rather than rushing it to meet some deadline, as well as given myself a lot to work with when editing and improving. Unlike with the 90K goal, I’d much rather fail to meet the deadline than succeed with months to spare. I’ve still gotten significantly far in this time, and I’m proud of myself for putting in so much effort, and I think having additional goals beyond just ‘finish everything by X time’ helps with that; I can still see how far I’ve come and how much I’ve accomplished via the other goals that encourage me to take my time

I still absolutely want to complete the draft, and coming as far as I have is further motivation to get it done. There’s something really special about working so hard for so long on something but still finding that joy and excitement to continue rather than burnout, and it’s not something I’m all that used to experiencing. By now I’ve usually grown tired of a project and left it, but I’m still going strong with this one and I’m still incredibly passionate about it. And I think that having this goal only to not quite meet it is helping me to appreciate this; I’m not upset about it, but actually looking forward to having further opportunities to continue. I really should stop calling it ‘failing’, since I count this as an overall win even if I didn’t make the deadline

What I’ve learned

I think persevering with these goals in mind all year has been very eye-opening for me as to how I like to progress with my writing; I can be consistent, I can get more done than I think, I can be excited about a project even after a whole year of ‘making myself’ write. These goals have boosted my confidence not only in my abilities to write, but as a writer

I love my story and my characters, and coming back to them so often and so frequently has been a blessing in getting to know them and reaffirming just how wonderful the writing process is. When I love what I’m writing, I can churn out a lot at once, and that didn’t impact my ability to come back and keep writing more, though I thought it would. I was also consistently getting a sense of accomplishment from meeting my weekly word counts, updating my word count every chapter, etc, which made the process feel rewarding and something I could take pride in. It felt big and productive, but the process stayed just as simple as always, even if it wasn’t always as easy

Based on everything, one thing I want to improve upon in future is ensuring that I continue to write even when it won’t contribute to a weekly word count. Setting additional goals or otherwise incentivising additional writing sessions is something I want to experiment with with any future attempts at these goals

10 years ago, I drew Alan Wake! I have grown so much as an artist, and if I had one thing to say to the aspiring artist, it is this, keep going. You're GOING to have bad days, but you will also have days where you are so proud of your work. Ignore social media. It's just a distraction that sometimes boosts the ego. I'm NOT saying, don't post! When it comes to posting on social media, I post so that one day, I can see my progress.

I went from an inexperienced artist to somewhat professional in 10 years. I'm still working on growing, hence the reason why I'm doing 52 weeks of Good Omens fan art. Choose something you love and challenge yourself frequently. That's how you grow as an artist.

I'm self-taught. I started learning art late in life, and since then, I've been trying to find my groove. Two kiddos later, I realized that the message I want to pass on to them is that you're never too old to chase your dream. I'm still trying to figure my dream out. Where do I go after 10 years of learning?

Well, I hope to write my own stories and illustrate them. As a volunteer librarian, I see so many books with beautiful art. I think my future lies somewhere in that direction. Maybe I'll create cover art. Maybe I'll create a graphic novel, or maybe I'll try storyboarding for TV shows and movies. I have so many avenues of life to explore. I'm excited and scared at the same time, but if your dream doesn't scare you, then is it worth it to pursue?

Anyway, I'm starting to ramble on. Don't give up because you didn't do well today. Keep going because tomorrow you might impress yourself. 😉

I've already started working on Quick Fix Season 7 and Quick Fix Gay Season 4. You're likely to get the stories I'm writing today sometime in the autumn.

The above plan for the summer (June-August) doesn't include any new Dating Ban stories. That's because I'm hoping to finish writing them during the summer, to publish in September if all goes to plan 🙂 As you know we're missing Yuta, Mark, Jaehyun and an all-members finale. Don't worry, I've got great plans for them 😉

I have sooo many drafts for stories on the Collections & Universes page on Story Finder. I'm so sorry it's taking so long to do more of these stories, but I am slowly moving forward on several. This includes for example Backstage S*x stories, the Lucas Wong scandal, and Wonho & Hyungwon as Boyfriends.

I also have a ton of requests I want to do. I write whatever I'm in the mood for in the moment and that's not always something requested, but I hope to do more during the summer, to publish in the autumn.

AltNaNo 2023 — Thank You

AltNaNo was a challenge that I did here on the blog last month. The idea was to create a writing challenge on the opposite end of the spectrum from NaNoWriMo. Instead of writing as much as you can, trying to hit 50k, the goal was to write for 15 minutes per day and see how much progress you can make that way.

I want to thank everyone who joined — I hope the challenge helped to get you closer to your goal. I certainly had a great time doing the challenge myself.

Over the 30 days, we spent 52 hours writing and produced 61,466 words together, which is pretty cool!

If you'd like to challenge yourself beyond AltNaNo, I run two daily challenges in Writing Analytics:

The Daily 500 — write 500 words during the course of a day

The Daily 10 — write for 10 minutes or more in a day

These are drop-in. You don't have to join every day. Just show up and write!

You don't have to write a novel in a month. Even writing for just 10 minutes per day regularly makes a huge difference. You probably won't publish 500 books like Isaac Asimov that way, but you can finish a novel every few years. Or a short story every month. Or an article every week.

Unlike brain surgeons, writers can get started without having everything figured out. Start before you're ready.

Match Review: Manchester City 1-2 Manchester United

Still think Pep's the best manager ever? ahahahahaha fuck off

Ahh, what a day that was.

On paper, it was a very even game - and not very high quality for 95% of it. 10 shots apiece, 3 on target apiece, 52-48% possession respectively, and 86-88% pass accuracy respectively. United had more fouls, setting themselves up to be more robust in challenges given we've been a bit lightweight, and City inevitably won more corners because... it's us.

One of these corners, played short, led to a looped cross landing on Gvardiol for a header and 1-0 City. Dalot was outjumped and outmuscled and it sucks, but it was almost inevitable.

United held firm though and it wasn't even a case of riding out the storm. It was a very even game. Haaland didn't start, Rashford and Garnacho weren't even in the squad, and it was just a bit weird.

In the first half there was a bit of argy bargy (thank fuck) where Walker bodyslams Hojlund out of the way when our forward's eyes are on the aerial ball and the City man... all on the striker. Proper shithouse foul, followed up by a bit of mano a mano and then some spectacular play-acting by Kyle Walker to collapse to the floor. VAR thankfully checked that Hojlund was indeed innocent, and as Roy Keane said after - that's hugely embarrassing to fake a foul like that. So much so that Rasmus rinsed the geezer on socials ahahaha rekt.

In the second half, more of the same from both sides but there was some controversy when Hojlund was fouled in the box and no penalty was given. Not to worry, late on our superstar Amad Diallo would do the same thing, but this time he'd ensure a penalty thanks to the awful tackling of ex-Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes. Up steps Bruno, bosh, 1-1, game on.

115 seconds later (you couldn't write this shit) and a long ball from Lissandro Martinez would find the touch of Diallo who threaded himself perfectly between the centre-backs, dinks a touch over Ederson, and drifts with it wide left to hit an acute shot back across the goal and the three defending the line - megging one of them to give United the lead and the win. What a talent.

Frustratingly, we should be talking about how Manchester is Red, Pep's lost his fucking head, and City are a bunch of chancers who went from "four in a row" and "best ever" to... whatever this mystical dogshit run is. It's like they're playing on flat batteries.

No, instead the media's all over Rashford and Garnacho's absences - especially Marcus. Jack Grealish has done fuck all for City for a while now, and is a known party boy, but Marcus "has lifestyle issues" apparently and yeah, maybe more comes out this week, who knows, but you can't focus on one lad and not others. If he has got issues outside of football, I hope he gets help. Maybe leaving United and the people around him in the area would help him on that front. Who's to say.

He has my backing though (so long as he hasn't been a nonce or anything ofc - there are limits to loyalty) because of what he has given us to-date. He might not fit in now, but I'd hate to see him go on a low point. I'd like a player to stay a one-club man in this age of bouncing around.

Anyway, this is a good day, a good week, so lets not think about Marcus for now. Lets enjoy Amad doing an Uno reverse on Pep by approaching him at full time lmao.

Next up for United - League Cup quarter-final away against Spurs on Thursday at 8pm. We fucked it last time lads. Lets fix up this time, yeah? We could be on for some silverware here - really get Amorim's reign off to a good start. Prove that even mid-season and teaching a new tactic, with unideal players, he can win stuff.
