i don't want to start any blasphemous rumors but i think that god's got a sick sense of humor and when i die i expect to find him laughing

imagine 999th regression being the canon beginning of orv. imagine yjh dying. and then regressing. but kim dokja and the rest of the others are there. technically speaking, they CAN clear the scenarios without yjh, but kim dokja is least happy about it.

but what can he do? 999!yjh is as sacrificial as he is. so of course, he dies, bc dokja's too slow.

so what happens is everyone moves on. the world moves on. kdj has to also, because life has always been particularly shitty to him. life on earth was hell but twsa was his silver lining. in this brand new universe worldline, his light dies, but he still has his family.

losing yjh takes a toll on them. kdj is their heart, but yjh is equally so. they grow weary, tired. they keep going, most of all kdj, because he doesn't have yjh's "second chances"

and oh, does kdj begin to hate that word. hate yjh's stigma. his sponsor.

through his grief, kdj becomes a lot less happy. he resembles his mother a lot more, in temperament. he sheds the white coat and dons yjh's black coat. he gets stronger. all of them do, because yjh isn't there to cover their asses anymore.

hsy, donning the white coat, the only one of them who remains optimistic about their chances (in her special hsy way), finds a way to break the narrative.

they become outer gods, much to SP's displeasure bc somehow he's lost control of everything and gdi kim dokja can you sit still for five minutes)

999!kimcom travels the worldlines to find their yjh and like. look. they find him. but they also find the most ancient dream.

yjh and kdj fight and my god its a beautiful disaster. hsy takes advantage of their monkey brains and steals MAD away, kdj is not pleased. yjh insists they let MAD live because he doesnt want kdj to die.

bitterly, kdj responds "you should have thought of that before you went and left us," with a wry smile, the fucking hypocrite. but well, its not like he's sacrificed himself in a while.

i dont really have anything more to add here this was just a "what if yjh succeeds regressing but the worldline is still intact bc kdj exists"

i feel like when you have a chronic illness everyone around you gets so used to seeing you deal with it that they assume you’re used to it too. like it feels as though there's this idea that you just cope and get on with it purely because you're used to it but in my experience pain and sickness don't really work that way. my symptoms hit just as hard now as they did twelve years ago when they first started and i think they'll feel that way forever. human bodies are quite literally not built to withstand that kind of pain on a daily basis, and being used to the fact it's going to happen to me isn't the same as being used to feeling that level of pain every day. but people around me will see me on a bad day and (rightly) be very concerned and ask what's wrong. and then as soon as i tell them that it's my chronic illness they have this kind of 'oh. right. it's just that' attitude and stop caring almost instantly. it's too high maintenance for them to care that much for that long, and they lose sympathy or patience really quickly after a because they can't seem to comprehend that it's always going to be excruciatingly painful even though i deal with it constantly

Then two officers showed up at Eddie's door with a flag and thanking his husband for serving their country.

Says the voice that is certainly not Hen's. The voice that's been haunting Buck's every dream for forever. "Eddie?" Buck chokes out, stuttering and hoping to God it's not him. "Yeah…" Of course it is..Buck looks up at his ceiling again, cursing the damn universe and its awful sense of humor. He's sure its laughing at him at this point. "Why? D-Did you mean to call someone else?"

or: Buck's date cancels but he has already made the restaurant reservation, so he decides to call Hen and ask if she'd like to take Karen there. He dials the wrong number. It all works in the end.

Do sports cards usually have "Rare"* cards and foil versions? Or is that just a thing with TCG cards?

Yes, kinda! It’s different with each sport/brand. (Generally) Upper Deck has the rights to hockey, while Topps does baseball, Panini does basketball, and each of these do that sort of thing differently.

For Upper Deck, they have multiple releases per year (like Allure, Ice, Series 1/2, Artifacts, etc) and each of those releases will have base cards and inserts. The inserts are the cards that are somewhat equivalent to the rares in TCG. Inserts can be different colour parallels, cards with autographs, jerseys or other relics, or they are part of a serialized release (so only a certain number are printed. Sometimes it’s out of 999 like the Future Watch Autos, sometimes it can be out of 50, or 5).

Some years have different inserts than others. Their rarity is usually posted on the website before the release. Some releases have per-pack rarities, others only post the rarity per case (a case usually has 10-12 packs). So if you're buying cards by the pack, you know you'll get ~some sort~ of insert, but there's no way of knowing if it will be something interesting.

One reason why I don't recommend people buy card packs off ebay is that some (not all!) sellers will literally use a micro-scale to weigh their packs in the hopes they are selling off lower value cards. Relic cards and lenticular cards will be slightly heavier. this can happen with TCG sellers too because the foil cards weigh a couple milligrams more as well.

PS: there’s definitely different language to do with sports cards than TCG, they wouldn’t be likely to describe something as Ultra Rare or Secret Rare the way that Pokémon does.

PPS: one of the things that makes collecting some of the early 90s Upper Deck hockey sets such a pain if you’re a completionist is they went thru some sort of ~phase~ with their holofoils and there are a lot of random ass parallels that are hard to find because they were short runs or only sold in certain regions 💀

Dr. Theron Sherman X Researcher! Fem! Vampire! Reader Headcanons

Dr. Sherman is and was always open to befriending anomalies.

So his girlfriend being one—a vampire in particular—wasn’t a shock to anybody in Site-42.

With Theron himself being the site director and his girlfriend being a researcher (him practically being her boss), there were obviously people who called their relationship unprofessional and unethical.

Did either of them care?

Absolutely not.

Since vampires can’t see their reflections, I think she would always go to Dr. Sherman to make sure she looks good and nothing’s out of place after getting ready.

Dr. Sherman is such a softie. His girlfriend definitely has given this man Squishmellows.

And he totally schedules her sessions with 999 when she’s having a bad day :)

Since vampires can’t be out in the sun, Dr. Sherman will go and run errands for his girlfriend!

And also, since vampires are nocturnal, Dr. Sherman has drastically changed his sleep schedule in order to spend more time with his girlfriend <3

od does not want to get along with knw. it makes the poor guy cry. one day he sends od to school and is all like "bully him and you die" to the other guys. luv to see it

uriel dresses him up almost every day!!

ljh has taken it a personal mission to spend her gym time with him much to knw's chagrin bcs he thinks he still has a chance (maybe maybe not). ljh also begs sp to teach her to cook at half his level

od is plagued by nightmares (this is very important to me) sp notices and is like "do you want me to hold your hand as you sleep/sleep on my lap" (yada yada yada you get the point) and od cant stop his mouth in time from telling him that sp-ahjussi (yes od canonically calls sp ahjussi btw) is at the same age (physically) as his dad or smth and sp is like *fingersnap* *kidifies himself* (<- this is also very important to me) needless to say it does wonders to od's nightmares

Hello! I loved the hc of gholdengo not wanting to go to the pokemon center.. so can you do hcs of how that whole ordeal could unfold? (Like from the start of the day to then feeling better at the end?)

Omg yeah. I'm currently working my way up to getting a Gholdengo (I got like 200-something coins as of typing this,,,,yippee)

Imagine it taking you forever to get all 999 Gimmighoul coins...but your hard work pays off as you finally get to evolve your little Gimmighoul into a Gholdengo.

They prove to be quite awesome in comparison to their cowardly first stage, always hiding in their chest and blending in. Now they were riding around on a skateboard, loud and proud.

You two became best buds fast, crushing any trainers who thought to stand in your way.

Unfortunately, since Gholdengos were such a rarity in Paldea, their trainers were often envied for being rich. So you’ve met a lot of jealous people in your travels.

Even ordinary residents would approach you, asking how much they’re worth or if you’re willing to trade.

And that makes Gholdengo quite insecure, worried that you’ll find a better Pokémon one day and sell them. Though at the time, they’re too prideful to admit this.

But when they get hurt in battle, you need to take them to a Pokémon Center...and they do not like how the PokeMart salesman stares at them as you’re approaching.

So rather than listen to you and get back in their pokeball, they show defiance by collapsing into a pile of Gimmighoul coins, scattering themselves everywhere.

You were stressing fr because their pokeball wouldn’t accept them in this state (bc technically they're now TM Materials and you can't shove those into one).

So you scrambled to find a container to put them in--praying no wild Pokémon scurried off with a single coin lest you lose Gholdengo forever--and hauled ass to the Pokémon Center.

“Welcome, Champion [Y/n]! Are your Pokémon in need of......?” The lady’s usual speech trails off as you set the coins on the table, huffing and puffing.

“Yes, this is a Gholdengo in need of healing. They’re just...shy.”

It’s an awkward situation to explain (even baffling the TM Machine), but in the end you get a max potion and set up a picnic somewhere quiet, pouring the coins onto the table before spraying them.

Then suddenly, Gholdengo reforms like nothing even happened.

You just scowled at them, disappointed. “Why did you do that? I hope you know you made me look ridiculous in front of them.”

Yet you calm down when they finally admit how scared they were of being sold, feeling guilty for angering you.

But since you understand where they’re coming from, you reassure them that you won’t be selling them anytime soon.

Of course, you didn’t struggle to find 999 coins just to give them all up for regular money.

“If any of those salesmen stare at you next time..I’ll just sell ‘em a fake nugget.” You joked, which makes Gholdengo smile, relieved you wanted to keep them.

To make up for the stress they caused you, they’ll let you teach them whatever new moves you believed were best for them, and ultimately they became your ace.

And if anyone tries asking you how much they’re worth? 

You’ll tell them to screw off and get a Meowth instead if they want money so bad.

With how absolutely adorable Child S/O is, I could imagine her being like an Eevee bc Eevees are one of the cutest Pokémon ever and have a bunch of potential to evolve into whoever! That, or she could be like SCP 999 from the SCP series!
