Enemies AU with Chat Noir and Argos except while Ladybug and Chat Noir are having a complicated Enemies-To-Tentative-Allies-To-Friends(?)-To-Genuine-Trust-To-Lovers Arc with Argos suffering just watching the whole charade of dancing around each other, the moment Ryuko comes into play, they speedrun that arc in record time and suddenly the tables have turned with Chat Noir third wheeling Feligami’s (Ryargos’?) flirt-fighting while he and Ladybug are still stuck in between the Friends(?) and Genuine Trust stage.

Ladybug would lecture Ryuko to stop making out with the enemy… If it weren’t surprisingly useful at keeping Argos at bay. (Should she start making out with Chat Noir? For tactical reasons, of course. She definitely doesn’t think about making out with Chat Noir for any other reasons, uh-uh.)

Also the tables have turned further because usually Chat Noir is giving Argos heart attacks with how reckless and self-sacrificial he is but now Chat Noir has to try and shake some sense into him because, “Félix, Félix, she can TAKE your brooch if she’s that close to you— she almost did!” And Argos, having recently made out with Ryuko, is still very dazed and in Loverboy Mode so he’s there like, “It’s… Fine. I can keep it safe.” Very unconvincingly and Chat Noir is like, “Do you think she’ll stop trying to take it??” And Argos smiles softly and says, “No.” and Chat Noir just. Stops trying to convince him not to kiss her and just tells him to be careful.

"What do you remember of being human, Echo?" The question is out of the blue and unexpected. But Sora offers a patient smile and tilts her head in curiosity, just enough that one of her ears flops over. It's endearing, if anything.

But Echo wishes she hadn't asked.

"Not much. Distinct memories are cloudy." A tired tone says softly, a pained recollection in her eyes and an acrid haze in her soul that endures, endures, and endures, "But I remember the discomfort more than anything. My body always did feel wrong back then. Misshapen. Condensed. Like it was too small for everything buried underneath, and that ache went so deeply some days that it would make my skin crawl. I hated that part the most."

At that, Sora's expression falls. She looks inexplicably sad, as if she'd hoped for a different response, a gentler one despite knowing the harsh truth about the dark future and the struggles Echo must have suffered. "But you had Grovyle, right? I'm sure he took care of you."

"He did, Sora, of course he did." A sigh, a flick of an ear and claws clenched tightly into the churned earth pressed under her paws. "I doubt I deserved his attention, though. I was too busy being angry at the world to give any care back."

In my lore, Echo does not look fully human during their time in the dark future. Since they were Darkrai before becoming human, and as a result of Palkia's reckless shattering of the Dimensional Portal which distorted both time and space, Echo's transformation was broken and accidental. They ended up looking pretty messed up and definitely (not) human. A lot of their characteristics as Darkrai carried over but rather morphed into something else.

And Grovyle, growing up in a world where humans have been extinct for longer than any living pokémon has been alive, has no concept of what a "true" human looks like. The only thing he knows is descriptions of humans from glyphs and texts in old ruins. Thus, he mistakes Echo for an actual human. And Echo, not knowing what a human looks like themselves due to amnesia, accepts this identification with nothing better to use.

I'm not sure where your moving to (and that's not very important, only that you're leaving Gaza, as hard as it might be) but in the EU, depending on the country, you can apply for immigrant bonuses. I know that peach game is like. For kids. Im SO aware of it. But its. So fucking cheap???? This is like the bloatware of nintendo games. What is going on here ???? Not to give nintendo even an ounce of credit…but they generally treat their main characters better than this. Thinking about rhinedottir as being young when the cataclysm struck

Like yes it’s unrealistic for someone who’s mid 20’s early 30’s to have done so much but. The trauma. Old Rhinedottir would’ve reacted to the cataclysm so much *differently*

I need to see someone who’s basically a child who had the whole weight of a nation thrust upon them and then watched it all break apart. I need to see her think that it was all her fault. None of this could happen if she had the wisdom of someone who isn’t a college student.

I need to see people realize that she’s just this little squiggly baby. Yes she murdered thousands of people but they’re ignoring the humanity in her. She’s still young and innocent in some ways

Need to see people realize that she was forced into the majority of her life decisions. Need to see how control over her environment becomes a vital part of her story.

I feel like whatever happens to Nat not just in the finale but even if she lives, for the whole show, is a good indicator of what Yellowjackets is trying to do and say as a story. Obviously we’ve got Shauna and Tai and the wilderness and who you have to be to survive and consuming the ones you love and how you cope with knowing there’s a darkness in you but with Nat it’s like. This girl has been suffering one way or another her whole life. She’s always fought to do the right thing and when pushed into extreme situations she sometimes fails because she’s only human, but she’s here and she’s alive. She tried to kill herself and failed. She tried to kill a fish and failed. Where are the writers interested in taking her character. What’s the ultimate narrative arc for her. Are they going to kill her off to show that some people simply can’t survive such intense trauma and awful choices? That the girls ultimately chose faith in the mystical over realism? Are they going to make her get worse, make it a tragedy about spirals and fighting against the current you know will win in the end? Is she going to get the chance to actually heal? Is she going to have to run from the others again, and if so what will that thematically represent?

I don’t have a solid point with any of this because “Character fates impact the narrative” is hardly a groundbreaking statement. Shauna’s arc demonstrates the shows themes. Taissa’s arc demonstrates the shows themes. But with Nat... idk I’m just rotating her in my mind and watching with fascination. I don’t know what direction the writers are going to take with her and that excites me. But by making her the heart/moral center of the team they set it up so that whatever happens has a significant impact to the show’s statement on morality as a whole, not just her character alone. We saw that last episode with Javi’s death, and her choice to let him die. I really feel like we’re going to see it again this finale.
