➤ d(a)emon personality quiz lore!
↳ includes d(a)emon types, horn shapes, associated colors, sovereigns, and character examples ↳ all info is copied from quiz results
Desire Demons feed on feelings of lust, passion, and desire. Before the Cacophony, most Desire Demons were bound in the Madrigals of A'Xerahn, the Sovereign of Desire, or less frequently, Fel'Ees, the Sovereign of Illusion. ↳ Examples include Gavin, Scorpius, and Pyxis.
Elation Demons feed on feelings of excitement, adrenaline, delight, or happiness. Before the Cacophony, most Elation Demons were bound in the Madrigals of A'Ahnen, the Sonal Sovereign, and Use'Dia, the Magneto Sovereign, among others. ↳ Examples include Bootes, Aldebaran, and Tejat.
Empathy Daemons feed on feelings of caring, love, and compassion. Before the Cacophony, all Empathy Daemons were bound in the Madrigal of E'Laetum, the Sovereign of Empathy. ↳ Examples include Caelum, Regulus, and Polaris.
Fear Demons feed on feelings of fear, panic, nervousness, and embarrassment. Before the Cacophony, most Fear Demons were bound in the Madrigals of N'Dellex, the Sovereign of Dreams, and L'Rhenn, the Sovereign of Warding, among others. ↳ Examples include Normae, Azmidi, and Maasym.
Inchoate Demons can feed on any emotion equally, but in turn, they garner little energy from any particular source, so they must feed constantly. Before the Cacophony, most Inchoate Demons were bound in the Madrigal of Rak'Xit, the Inchoate Sovereign. ↳ Examples include Avior, "Warden," and Reticuli.
Misery Demons feed on feelings of grief, hopelessness, guilt, and shame. Before the Cacophony, most Misery Demons were bound in the Madrigals of Kir'Sha, the Sovereign of Water, and P'Taxeck, the Sovereign of Earth, among other. ↳ Examples include Noas, Tegmine, ad Vela.
Sadism Demons feed on feelings of hatred, malice, and harm. Before the Cacophony, most Sadism Demons were bound in the Madrigal of D'Deridahn, the Sovereign of Gravity, though some were bound to Jad'Zia, the Sovereign of Stealth, among others. ↳ Examples include Vega, Carina, and Volantis.
Serenity Daemons feed on feelings of contentment, peace, relaxation, and ease. Before the Cacophony, most Serenity Daemons were bound in the Madrigal of Min'Ara, the Sovereign of Serenity. All Deathwalkers were once Serenity Daemons. ↳ Examples include Camelopardalis, Crux, and Brachium.
Shock Demons feed on feelings of surprise, confusion, amazement, or wonder. Before the Cacophony, most Shock Demons were bound inthe Madrigals of Z'Tinqin, the Sovereign of Electricity, and Wen'Alak, the Sovereign of Psychokinesis, among others. ↳ Examples include Corvus, Ara, and Antares.
Strife Demons feed on feelings of frustration, anger, disquiet, and disgust. Before the Cacophony, most Strife Demons were bound in the Madrigals of Tal'Ris, the Sovereign of Fire, and S'Thenhin, the Sovereign of Air, among others. ↳ Examples include Musca, Rigel, and Hydra.
➤ NOTE FROM ERIK:
It's important to note, while particular kinds of demons will often share similar personality traits, those aren't uniform. And a demon that feeds on a particular kind of emotion doesn't have to be inherently representative of it. Sadism Demons don't have to be cruel. Empathy daemons don't have to be kind. While some choose to amplify their particular food source of emotion in a person, they can actually absorb that emotion from them instead and help relieve a person of it, if they wish. Just like humans, demons come with all sorts of personalities, preferences, and goals!
#god i was itching to compile all this lore. holy shit that is a lot of new sovereigns#redacted audio#redacted asmr#demons#daemons#sovereigns#sweetheart.txt

Hello! I understand that naming characters can be difficult, I also understand that when we create AU's in which a character is trans or hiding and need to create a deadname/fake name it can be a struggle. HOWEVER-
When it comes to naming Black OC's or giving characters like Sirius and Regulus genderbent/deadnames I will not take any excuses for things like "Siriana" and "Regina". That is about the only family in canon who already HAS a naming convention, and yes, I realise not all of them follow it. However most DO.
So! For your perusal, I have taken the liberty of spending two weeks of my life scrolling Wikipedia to find a list of constellations, star names and star nicknames that could be used instead! Please use them I beg of you.
As a helpful guide, any names already used in canon are starred. Any names that MIGHT be used in canon (it's been ages since I've read the actual books, forgive me if I've missed any) are double starred.
And without further ado I present...

Story: Battle strategy cards;‘Stellar Charm’ One Tree Hill
One Tree Hill
‘Angel Casablancas’ and their twin sister ‘Cassidy Casablancas’ are the reigning ‘Stellar Charm Card’ champions of the city. Why? From all the students and inhabitants of the city ‘One Tree Hill’ named after the ominous forest from which the entire town surrounds, the mythos and legends surrounding the condemned huaunted forest and tree upon the top of the highest mountain in the city seems to share a grim tale about a series of suicide that concerned the towns ever budding congregation that used to meet weekly for church gatherings at the foot of the ominous tree at the very top of the ecclesiastical tree, now condemned the fellowship now meets else where disbanded and scattered after the horrific events that were the result of students jumping from the top of the building, tree and mountain falling to the their deaths at the bottom of the city beneath the mountain. Walled off and forbidden territory as the signs and gates proclaim on the walls of the forbidden forest students constantly enter in hopes of finding the lost cards of a popular card game that once reigned within the town. ‘Stellar charm cards was a game of unique personal skill and talents that required one to sing, dance and use personal talents to summon your cards constellations the power from which the cards drew from. Unbeknownst to some of the students and card users, some had more than others and the more you possessed the more powerful you were compared to some who only possed two if only even one. The losers of these card games tragically forced if not pushed to end their lives from jumping to their doom amused the congregation leader who sought posses and collect all the cards. But the two twins, secretly would go from card user to card user in private consoling them and confiding within them in order to collect their card in secret, then adding their card to their book of protection, thereby spearing that student or card user from having to suicide. If one didn’t run the Forest deadly maze a deadly obstacle course of doom and make it out alive then there was no way for one to enter the condemned forest in hopes of connecting with one of the ‘stellar sacred tree’s’ one would find in hopes of connecting their soul with a sacred trees constellation of power. Thus, how the card game was born from the now candy factory that would harvest the strange fruits the trees would produce in order to create their sacred foods the town would consume in order to bring forth the unknown power within them.

Star Names
I have, once again, gotten into Harry Potter fanfiction. To be specific, Rigel Black chronicles recursive fanfiction.
So I'm making my way through wikipedia, going through the constellations and star names, making notes on the ones that are most Given Name-like, ignoring the ones that are after 1980 (quite a few), and noting the ones that might still be too modern/muggle for the Ancient and Most Noble House of Black.
Then I bought a book called Star Names, their Lore and meaning by Richard Hinckley Allen* and went through that. Given how confusing the book is to me, and how it includes poetical names as well as designations, I've marked the beginning of his contributions with *, the end with (RHA).
After all that work, I may as well share it.
Organised by Constellation, the genitive, and sometimes the constellation's abbreviation. Then the names of stars, which I haven't sorted at all. I used the Caelum constellation as a cutoff, which was something like 1756, which cut out suprisingly little compared to the post 1990 cutoff. The IAU has been Busy the last few decades, so many wonderful star names...
Too modern list
Nahn (1971)
Navi, Regor, Dnoces- (before 1967, by astronaut Gus Grissom)
Kaffa, Kruz, Haris, Heze, Ksora, Tyl, Achird (1950's)

Rating each of the 88 IAU designated constellations based on how good they would be as a name for a member of the Black family because I’m bored and this road trip will take at least 2 more hours.
Andromeda: 10/10 no notes. It’s perfect disaster name material.
Antila: 6/10 I feel they would be the weird middle child of the family
Apus: 5/10 could be good as a domineering father figure, otherwise I wouldn’t want to call my edgy soft boi Apus Black
Aquarius: 3/10 would get made fun of and not taken seriously
Aquila: 7/10 perfect name for an adventurous lesbian that got disinherited yet is a total badass
Ara: 1/10 I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from thinking Ara Ara Black
Aries: 9/10 perfect antagonist name
Auriga: 2/10 just doesn’t really roll off the tongue well
Boötes: 3/10 not bad, but the double Bs knock it down a few points
Caelum: 6/10 good as the edgy second in command to an antagonist, otherwise unremarkable
Camelopardis: 0/10 horrible would only be made fun of for being named the objectively worse version of giraffe
Cancer: 0/10 do I even need to explain
Canes Venatici: 2/10 to many syllables
Canis Major: 4/10 could see this being used as the name for an older twin, but not on its own
Canis Minor: 4/10 ditto but for the younger twin
Capricornus: 3/10 maybe as a medieval ancestor, but not as a modern black
Carina: 8/10 younger sister name
Cassiopeia: 10/10 amazing
Centaurus: 2/10 this would probably offend the actual centaurs
Cepheus: 5/10 total emo recluse name
Cetus: 7/10 short and snappy, perfect for an overbearing father
Chamaeleon: 4/10 I could totally see them using this out of pure spite
Circinus: 3/10 at best a great-grandfather, otherwise horrible
Columba: 8/10 would be a soft and gentle older sister
Coma Berenices: 0/10 too many syllables and has coma in the name
Corona Australis: 0/10 too specific
Corona Borealis: 0/10 see above
Corvus: 10/10 the ultimate emo boi name
Crater: 8/10 would play beater on the house team
Crux: 8/10 definitely a middle child with something to prove
Cygnus: 8/10 a daddy you don’t want to mess with
Delphinus: 6/10 the secretive bastard daughter who has inherited angst
Dorado: 2/10 too many Os
Draco: 10/10 Draco Malfoy adopted by the Blacks AU vibes
Equuleus: 5/10 too many Us, other could be good for a grandfather
Eridanus: 5/10 if you place the emphasis on the i then it works, otherwise not
Fornax: 3/10 probably sounds cooler than the person with the name actually is
Gemini: 4/10 youngest child energy
Grus: 6/10 people would think it’s a nickname then be surprised it’s their real name
Hercules: 9/10 though it would probably end up being used be someone with extremely supremacist views, ruining the name for everyone else
Horologium: 0/10 imagine introducing yourself as ‘watch’
Hydra: 6/10 would defiantly be the younger brother of Hercules
Hydrus: 5/10 either the worse version of Hydra or the better version
Indus: 4/10 coloniser vibes
Lacerta: 9/10 absolutely the daughter that ran away from the family becuase she loved a Muggle
Leo: 10/10 I’m biased
Leo Minor: the inferior sibling of Leo
Lepus: 1/10 sound too much like Leper
Libra: 4/10 Le Bruh Black
Lupus: 8/10 Lupin gets adopted by the Blacks AU vibes
Lynx: 6/10 you think they’re gonna be all edgy and intimidating but they’re actually soft and apologetic for their crazy name

Mensa: 0/10 I can’t think of anything I like about it
Microscopium: 0/10 like, BRUH, why

Pegasus: 8/10 kinda heroic, I could see this being used for a main character
Perseus: 7/10 same comment as above, just a weaker version of it
Phoenix: 8/10 the hot headed brother, though given that phoenixes are real it’s kinda like naming your child cheetah
Pictor: 1/10 if a black family member ever became a grave digger, it would be Pictor
Piscis: 3/10 could be worse. I imagine this child would be mostly forgotten about though
Piscis Austrinus: 1/10 the worse version of Picsis
Puppis: 6/10 excitable younger sibling energy
Pyxis: 8/10 a name for a younger sibling who reads a few too many dark magic books
Reticulum: 1/10 horrible. Absolutely horrible
Sagitta: 7/10 people would think it’s a nickname for Sagittarius, but it actually works on its own
Sagittarius: 5/10 could just use Sagitta as a nickname
Scorpius: 9/10 almost as emo as Corvus. Almost.
Sculptor: 3/10 I could see them using it as the name of an ancestor who lived before the 17th cenfury
Scutum: 1/10 sounds too much like scrotum. Anyone who would be named this would have anger issues
Serpens: 3/10 sounds incomplete
Sextans: 3/10 in the same boat as Sculptor

Vulpecula: 3/10 any child named this will immediately become angry

20+ Names That Mean Spider: Creativity, Wisdom, Resilience – Impeccable Nest
Spiders have long been the subject of fascination mixed with fear. Many cultures around the world have given names tied to these eight-legged creatures. Here are some of the more notable ones:
Aracely - This female name means "altar of spiders" in Spanish. Its roots come from the Latin words ara (altar) and caelum (sky or heaven). So the full meaning evokes spider webs placed beautifully under the heavens.
Arachne - In Greek mythology, Arachne was a talented young woman who was so skillful at weaving that she dared to challenge Athena herself. Arachne's works were deemed perfect, making the goddess jealous. Athena destroyed Arachne's tapestries and cursed her to become the first spider. The word later became the basis for "arachnid," the scientific classification for spiders.
Aranea - Directly translating to "spider" in Latin, Aranea makes for a nature-oriented name. It bri

Monday, August 28th || Latin
I am a hot fucking mess this morning, I didn't start my translation until 2 hours before I had to leave for class 😬
Because of this I didn't get my translation fully done before class, so there are a few lines missing from my at home translation.
The Latin:
Quid bella Tyro surgentia dicam, germanique minas? Dis equidem auspicibus reor et Iunone secunda hunc cursum Iliacas vento tenuisse carinas. Quam tu urbem, soror, hanc cernes, quae surgere regna coniugio tali! Teucrum comitantibus armis Punica se quantis attollet gloria rebus! Tu modo posce deos veniam, sacrisque litatis indulge hospitio, causasque innecte morandi, dum pelago desaevit hiems et aquosus Orion, quassataeque rates, dum non tractabile caelum.”
His dictis impenso animum flammavit amore, spemque dedit dubiae menti, solvitque pudorem. Principio delubra adeunt, pacemque per aras exquirunt; mactant lectas de more bidentes legiferae Cereri Phoeboque patrique Lyaeo, Iunoni ante omnes, cui vincla iugalia curae.
My at-home translation:
What of the war with Tyre and the rising threats of your brother? I believe, with the god's sight and Juno's favor, the Trojan ships kept their coarse to this place. What a city you, sister, will perceive here, what a rising kingdom with such a husband! With a Trojan army accompanying what glorious heights of Punic achievement! Just now you seek the gods favor, having sacrificed to them indulge the guest and weave a cause for delay, while winter rages the sea and watery Orion, having shaken the ships, while the weather is not favorable." Saying so, she burns the vast love in (???) and gives hope to waver mind and frees shame.
The corrected translation:
Why should I mention the war with the rising wars in Tyre And the threats of your brother? I think, indeed, by means of gods as protectors and favorable Juno, that the Trojan ships held this course on the wind. What a city you, sister, will perceive, and what kingdoms to rise With such a husband! With the weapons of the Trojans accompanying To what heights Punic glory will raise herself! Just now you seek the gods favor, with sacred things having been successfully offered Give indulgence to the guest and weave a cause of delay, While winter rages on the sea and watery Orion, The ships have been shaken, while the sky is not manageable.” These things having been said she inflamed her soul by means of vast love And gave hope to a doubtful mind and released her modesty. At first they approach the shrine and seek out favor by means of the altar; They kill two year old sheep, having been chosen, according to custom For law-bringing Ceres and Apollon and father Bacchus, To Juno before all, for whom the bonds of marriage are for a concern.

the night sky is “silent” yet still playing a universal symphony orchestrated by our beautiful mysterious Creator
like instrumental music and poetry, we see and hear things in nature just as we see written words
words that when taken inside become intertwined with our own heart and thought-life (the heart is where desire is “conceived” just as speech)
with God addressing Job:
Can you bind together a cluster of twinkling stars—
the seven sisters of Pleiades who keep company in the night sky?
Can you loosen the cords of Orion’s bow?
Can you lead the stars of the Zodiac out in their proper seasons
and guide the Bear with her cubs?
Do you know the rules of the heavens,
or apportion their influence on the seasons of the earth?
The Book of Job, Chapter 38:31-33 (The Voice)
God orchestrates “signs” in the heavens even as the stars align, yet we have no need of things such as astrology or horoscopes as forms of fortune-telling which are idolatrous in nature.
Israel in the course of their History went astray time and again from God’s truth, and some still don’t yet see their Messiah in Yeshua who the writing of the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) points to. did you know there is a point in the world’s fiction that can become idolatry when it takes all the time of the heart & mind rather than focusing on our Creator and His truth as what is most sacred and treasured inside?
And we can see the rebirth of Israel on earth as a clear sign of God restoring the Jewish people and all Gentile believers are actually “ingrafted” into the Jewish Vine and its pure “Root” of Yeshua as Messiah over all of us
from the 36th chapter of the prophet Ezekiel:
Eternal One: On the day I cleanse you from all your sins, I will bring people back into your desolate cities, and heaps of rubble will be turned into grand structures. The wasteland will be plowed and sown—a vast change from the emptiness those passing by are used to seeing. They will be amazed, saying, “This place used to be an empty wasteland. Now it’s like the garden of Eden! The cities were demolished, lying in ruins and completely abandoned. Now they are all restored, strong and full of people!” Then the nations near you will know that I, the Eternal, am the One who rebuilt and restored the ruined cities and replanted the empty wilderness. I, the Eternal One, promise to do exactly what I’ve said.
The Book of Ezekiel, Chapter 36:33-36 (The Voice)
And we see the significance of this in the heavenly city of the new Jerusalem with its foundation stones inscribed with the 12 apostles of Yeshua and the city’s 12 gates with the 12 sons of Israel (Jacob):
Heavenly Messenger: Come with me, and I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.
He took me away in the Spirit and set me on top of a great, high mountain. As I waited for what I thought was a bride, he showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God. It gleamed and shined with the glory of God; its radiance was like the most precious of jewels, like jasper, and it was as clear as crystal. It was surrounded with a wall, great and high. There were twelve gates. Assigned to each gate was a messenger, twelve in all. And on the gates were inscribed the names of the twelve tribes of Israel’s sons. On the east wall were three gates. On the north wall were three gates. On the south wall were three gates. On the west wall were three gates. And the city wall sat perfectly on twelve foundation stones, and on them were inscribed the names of the twelve emissaries of the Lamb.
The Book of Revelation, Chapter 21:9-14 (The Voice)
A poetic post finished over 8 years ago that points us toward our heavenly “Home”

I've been busy with school and work lately, and consequently had little free time, but I had a thought over dinner. How might Caelum and Ara deal with the events of Year Five, concerning Umbridge - say if her "adjustments" to the DADA curriculum also shamelessly took away any accommodations Caelum had developed because of his selective mutism - i.e., penalizing him for using sign language and forcing him to speak out loud despite his difficulties/self-consciousness over his stutter on the rare occasion when he does speak? Would Caelum try advocating for civil disobedience or would Ara take the "no holds barred, place your bets" approach on her brother's behalf?
I feel like Caelum would try to talk Ara down to civil disobedience but Ara would pretty much be 100% "bitch can't give me detention if I fucking kill her right now" like fucking with her brother is never okay and she will make you regret it
she also probably starts an underhanded scheme to get Umbridge fired from the ministry by framing her for treason or something!
