The Weekly Gravy #200
Starting the week off with some more shorts, including one requested by commenter Anand! Robin Hood-Winked (1967) – This may have been the last of the Noveltoons franchise produced by Famous Studios (which rose from the ashes of the Fleischer studio) and released by Paramount. Apparently part of the Fractured Fables series, it deals with Sir Blur, a near-sighted knight (think Mr. Magoo in a suit…

Astronaut - Stellar Tales 02
Tumblr media
My Dear Sea, My Eternal Lover,
Here I am sitting in the light of my dream. The beautiful planet, the god of my time. If only time could slow me down I'd live here for an eternity. Watching his raiment of rings dance around his celestial body, bathing in the crystal waters under the light of his glory.
But oh sea, tell me! What have you heard of my beautiful home? The crystalline blue deity who brought me into life. The unlucky mother whose children wronged her. Tell me about Earth, what do you see?
Is her blue veil still crystal clear? Does the sun kiss the untouched beaches? Or has the clouds colored their raiments dark? Has my kind hurt my mother too hard?
Tell me oh sea, do her children still wag their tales and crawl into her arms? They seek warmth but my kind gave them fire. I wish that the hell has lost its sire.
My love, my deep blue sea, I wish I could take you there and put down all the fire. I wish I could plant these trees there for my brothers. But I will not let my kind be here for wherever they go they burn down with fire.
With love,
Your lone astronaut

i learned what are the most mysterious places in the world
Marree Man – The fact that there is not a single witness to the creation of the Marree Man speaks to the absolute isolation of central South Australia. Somehow in 1998, one person or a group of people were able to create a 2.6-mile long line drawing of an aboriginal hunter, without being seen. In the midst of barren, arid land in South Australia, the Marree Man is the largest geoglyph and work of art in the world. Cut into the harsh landscape with lines over 115 feet wide and one foot deep, the towering Marree Man is easily visible from space. Thirteen years after the Marree Man was discovered during a flyover, little is known about its origin. Although we may never know the true origin of the Marree Man, it is certainly one of most intriguing modern day mysteries.
Tumblr media
Chocolate Hills – Bohol Island in the Philippines during the dry season, you might notice what looks like thousands of chocolate kisses protruding from the terrain. These mysterious conical mounds are known as the Chocolate Hills. There are approximately 1,268 individual hills, their heights ranging from 100 to 160 feet, though the highest is almost 400 feet high. The hills, which are almost all symmetrical, consist of grass-covered limestone and turn brown during the dry season. Despite the abundance of hills, it is unclear how they were formed. There are multiple geological explanations ranging from oceanic volcano activity to limestone weathering. Numerous legends and tales also exist to explain the Chocolate Hills.
Tumblr media
Giants Nest – In 1949 a geologist named Vadim Kolpakov discovered a large mound of limestone in the north of the Irkutsk region in southeastern Siberia. The cone is curiously shaped with a crater at the top and a small mound in the center. The mound is about 40 meters high and 100 meters across at the base. The smaller mound at the top is about 12 meters high. The crater was named Patomskiy, after a nearby river, but local residents call it “the Fiery Eagle’s Nest”. Since the discovery of the crater, there have been many theories as to what could have created it. For a long time it was believed to be a meteorite impact structure. Some linked it to the Tunguska meteorite, whose remains have never been discovered. But the crater does not resemble any other known meteorite site. Even now, the origin of the crater is not discovered.
Tumblr media
Richat Structure – In the midst of vast, vacant Sahara desert, just outside of Ouadane, Mauritania, lies a 30-mile wide geological oddity known the Richat Structure, sometimes called the “Eye of Africa.” From space, this natural curiosity forms a distinct and unmistakable bull’s-eye that once served as a geographical landmark for early astronauts as they passed over the Sahara. Once thought to be an impact crater due to its circularity, the unusual formation is now widely believed to have been caused by the erosion of a geological dome formed by pressure from a bulb of molten magma below.
Tumblr media
Plain of Jars – The Plain of Jars is a collection of large stone jars interspersed throughout the Xieng Khouang plain in the Lao Highlands. The stone structures are mostly made of sedimentary rock and, ranging from 3 to 10 feet in height, each can weigh up to 14 tons. To date, the origin of the jars is unknown, though archaeologists believe that they were originally used between 1,500 and 2,000 years ago. Many researchers have theorized that the jars may have once served as funerals urns or food storage. As local Laotian legend would have it, the jars were created by Khun Cheung, an ancient king of giants who lived in the highlands. It is said that Cheung, after fighting a long and victorious battle, created the jars in order to brew huge amounts of celebratory lao lao rice wine.
Tumblr media
Giant’s Grave of Coddu Vecchiu – Giant’s or Tomba Dei giganti, are megalithic gallery graves that were used as public tombs during the Bronze Age. The massive gravestones were built by the Nuragic civilization, which existed in Sardinia from the 2nd millennium BCE. to the 2nd century CE. Despite the imaginative name, the sites were not the burial site of any giant; they were giant community burial chambers. Though we know the tombs had a funerary purpose, more questions remain. Little is known about the rituals or traditional beliefs that motivated their construction. Were they mass graves? Were they built to facilitate the journey into the afterlife? Since their existence has yet to be justified by scientific research, they have been credited to the supernatural, which has only increased their mystery. Legend also claims that yes, indeed, these were the tombs of powerful giants.
Tumblr media
Zone of Silence – Pilot Francisco Sarabia was flying over a patch of desert land in Mexico when his instruments started to act increasingly odd. The man had to make an emergency landing in the middle of nowhere. Little did he know that this "nowhere" would be later dubbed "The Zone of Silence.” Weird radio silence isn't the only oddity of the creepy Zone. Like, what’s that weird trio that locals keep meeting in the Zone? They’re two men and a woman. Every time people see them, they’re wearing bizarre clothing that isn't suitable for a journey in the desert whatsoever. On top of all that, the Zone of Silence is known as a 50 km patch of deserted land where meteorites come crashing down on an eerily regular basis. On July 11, 1970, the US launched an ATHENA rocket from the Air Force base in Green River, Utah. The rocket was supposed to land somewhere in the area of White Sands in New Mexico. Instead, it went off course and, as if being pulled by some external force, crashed right in the heart of the Zone of Silence.
Tumblr media
Michigan Triangle – Stretching from Ludington to Benton Harbor, Michigan and to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the Lake Michigan Triangle has inspired numerous accounts of activity that are difficult to explain by rational thought. The mystery began in 1891, when a schooner named the Thomas Hume set off across the Lake to pick up lumber. Almost overnight in a torrent of wind, the Thomas Hume disappeared along with its crew of seven sailors. The wooden boat was never found. After the turn of the century, strange events happened at steady intervals. Of the more mysterious is the case of the Rosa Belle. In 1921 eleven people inside the ship, who were all members of the Benton Harbor House of David, disappeared and their ship was found overturned and floating in Lake Michigan. While it appeared that the ship had been damaged in a collision, no other ship had reported an accident and no other remains had been found.
Tumblr media
Alaska Triangle – The Alaska Triangle is a place in the untouched wilderness where mystery lingers and people go missing at a very high rate. The area began attracting public attention in October 1972, when a small, private plane carrying U.S. House Majority Leader Hale Boggs, Alaska Congressman Nick Begich seemingly vanished into thin air. For more than a month, 50 civilian planes and 40 military aircraft plus dozens of boats, covered a search area of 32,000 square miles, but no trace of the plane, the men, wreckage or debris were ever found. Afterward, more planes went down, hikers went missing, and Alaskan residents and tourists seemed to vanish into thin air. In fact, since 1988, more than 16,000 people have disappeared in the Alaska Triangle, with a missing person rate at more than twice the national average. These disappearances are blamed on everything from severe weather to aliens, to swirling energy vortexes, to an evil shape-shifting demon of Tlingit Indian lore called Kushtaka, with no scientific explanation to the disappearances till today.
Tumblr media
The Initiation Well – The Initiation well is 88 feet deep well located on the land of Quinta da Regaleira. Actually, it was used for ceremonial purposes. There is another small well near this well. Both these wells are connected by tunnels. The larger well contains a 27-meter spiral staircase with several small landings and the smaller well contains straight stairs that connect a series of ring-shaped floors to one another. The smaller well is also called the 'Unfinished Well'. The depth of this larger well is equal to the four-storey building, which becomes narrower on going closer to the ground. It is believed that there is some kind of light comes out from the well inside the ground and comes outwards. Surprisingly, there is no system of light inside this well, then where from this light comes, it is the secret. Anyone who comes to visit here, always raises the question of where the light comes from inside the well? Till today this secret is unsolved.

A Broken Sort of Normal Part 6
WC: 1758 Masterpost
Danny was propped up on the couch in a mound of pillows. Flash had dutifully stood outside of the bathroom while Danny showered then redressed the forehead wound. Danny thought Flash must have ordered pizza during that time, because as soon as he had fussed over settling Danny into the couch, Flash was off. Danny was under strict orders not to move.
Just when the boredom started to to creep in there was the tell-tale whoosh of wind heralding the arrival of a Flash. The amount of pizza boxes balanced under what appeared to be game boxes was both impressive and a little intimidating.
Flash peered around the apartment. “You don’t have a table?”
“Nope,” Danny said, popping the p. “Didn’t have one to move with me. Besides, I eat on the couch myself and not like I have people over usually.”
“So will we…?”
“No, I’m going to make you eat on the floor,” Danny deadpanned.
“Oh, sure, okay—”
“Flash, I’m kidding. Yeah, we’ll eat on the couch.”
“Oh! Right!” Flash said, blushing red under the edge of his mask as he set down the tower of boxes. Once his arms were free, he pulled off a red yellow backpack and held it up. “I, um, I’m just going to go change?”
Danny couldn’t help but grin. “Is your backpack Flash themed?”
The blush deepened and Flash shifted his feet. “Yes. Look, my best friend got it for me, okay? Nightwing is… just like that.”
“Not judging,” Danny said, holding up his hands. His laughter may have ruined his sincerity a little, but being honest with himself, if it had existed, he would have had Phantom merch. “If you want to take a shower, spare towels are in the laundry closet right outside the bathroom.”
“I’m good, but thanks! You stay sitting,” Flash ordered before he zipped off to change.
Amusingly, when Flash was done, he walked back out like a normal person. Danny wondered how much it was secret identity habit not to zip around outside of the Flash uniform. The red sweat pants and well worn, long sleeve shirt were completely nondescript. They looked a little silly with the Flash mask still on, but Danny wasn’t going to judge someone for preserving their secret identity.
“Where are your plates?” Flash asked as he headed to the kitchen.
“Cabinet right above the dishwasher,” Danny said.
“Dude, planet plates! Cool! You like space?”
“Yeah, wanted to be an astronaut when I was a kid,” Danny said. The plates were one of his silly splurges from his first paycheck, but he needed plates, so why not have ones he loved?
“Me too— but only for like, three months. Apparently I was always changing my mind. What planet do you want?”
“Give me Jupiter today, feels right for eating pizza,” Danny said. He felt a little ridiculous relaxing at Flash’s obvious enjoyment of the plates, but it was just nice not to be nitpicked over his choice— to not be told it was too childish.
“Mars for me then! So, I got, like, a range of pizzas—”
“No kidding.”
“—but I like all of them, so take whatever you want and I’ll still be happy.”
“Do you really expect us to finish all of this?”
Flash shrugged as he came back over with the plates and two sodas from the fridge. “Yeah, I mean, I will. I have to eat lots.”
“Why— oh! Right, if you’re moving at super speed, all your cells are too which means you’re basically like a human hummingbird,” Danny said, nodding a little.
“Yeah, exactly! You’re pretty smart.”
Danny couldn’t help but snort at that. At Flash’s questioning look he just shrugged, “Not according to my family. But they all have doctorates, or will soon, so I’m just, you know, the dumb one.”
“Hey, I’ve seen you on the field lots now. You think quick and under a lot of tension. That’s not dumb, Danny.”
“Thanks,” Danny said, doing his best to give Flash a smile for the kind platitudes. “Now show me what pizzas you got. This place has a lot to live up to.”
And live up to the hype it did. Other than a basic pepperoni (that Danny had a feeling was the safe back up), the pizzas were all bizarre but delicious combinations Danny had never had before. He maybe ate a bit more than he should have, but it was hard to feel bad when Flash polished off almost all of the rest.
The few left overs were stored in the fridge before Flash dragged the coffee table up against the couch and stacked the empty boxes.
“So, I brought some low thinking games for us to play,” Flash said, spreading out the boxes.
“Snakes and Ladders?” Danny asked, picking up the box with a raised brow.
“Don’t knock the classics, dude.”
Danny snorted and looked over the rest. “Oh, Candy Land! You know, I never got to play that?”
“Well then we have to,” Flash said, picking it up and setting it up on the pizza boxes. The game was just high enough Danny wouldn’t have to lean over much to play. It was surprisingly thoughtful.
“What’s your favorite board game?” Danny asked before he thought better of it. “I mean, sorry, you don’t have to answer that, secret identity and all.”
“Nah, it’s fine! Like I can’t say anything too personal but I don’t think you’re going to find me out by what board games I like,” Flash said. “I guess… I’ve played Clue a lot but it’s more other people’s favorite and I, like, never win. It’s a basic bitch answer, but Settlers of Catan is always a good time.”
“Never played,” Danny admitted.
“Never? I’d say next time you have a concussion we can see if it’s too much thinking, but that sounds like I’m wishing for you to have a concussion and I really, really am not.”
Laughing, Danny took his turn, pulling a card and moving to the color. “I mean, I’m sure I will. This isn’t my first one and it wont be my last— not with the job I have.”
“Pessimistic, but you’re prob not wrong,” Flash said with a little pout.
“I mean, I’m going to try not to get hurt, if that’s any consolation. Your turn— for game and for a question.”
“Okay,” Flash said, spreading his hands. “I have a fuck, marry, kill question.”
“Sure, why not. Are we playing the real way?”
Flash tilted his head. He looked a little like a puppy with the motion (an adorable puppy). “The real way?”
“Yeah. Like, fuck but never see them again and marry but never get to fuck them,” Danny explained.
“Oh, dude, of course. There’s no stakes otherwise,” Flash said with a nod as he drew his card.
“Have at me then,” Danny said.
“Fuck, marry, kill: Lord Licorice, Mr. Mint, Princess Lolly.”
Danny hummed, leaning down to peer at the character art on the board. “Well, I guess I have to kill Lord Licorice since he’s the villain and I’m playing with a hero.”
“I mean, I guess fucking him would get rid of him too as long as you never left Candy Land. You could take one for the team,” Flash said with a laugh.
“True, but he looks like he’s into some weird shit so I’ll stick with kill. Then I guess… fuck Mr. Mint— who is a total twink, let’s be honest— and marry Princess Lolly. I’m okay being a kept man and exiling the Princess would cause a lot of political unrest.”
Flash tilted his head again in thought before nodding. “Solid choices. I’d agree.”
“Your turn. Fuck, marry, kill: Candy Land, Monopoly, and Snakes and Ladders,” Danny said, drawing his next card and moving his piece to the right color.
“The actual board games?”
“The personifications of the board games. Like, if the essence of Candy Land was a person.”
“Huh,” Flash said, leaning back. “Well, I mean, kill Monopoly, duh.”
“Right choice.”
“Then…” Flash chewed on his lip for a moment. “Marry Candy Land and fuck Snakes and Ladders.”
“Kinky,” Danny teased with a waggle of his eyebrows.
Flash laughed. “You know me I like those rungs and serpents. Wait- would that make me a furry? Can snakes even be furries since they’re, you know, no fur?”
“Yeah, they’re called scalies.” Danny shrugged at the look Flash was giving him. “Look, I’m on the internet a lot. You learn things.”
“I guess so. I wish I had the time, but also I’m kinda glad I don’t,” Flash said. He pulled a card with a little whoop as he got to take a short cut.
The game of Candy Land ended up surprisingly cut throat (Flash won), but it was nothing compared to Snakes and Ladders. Danny was satisfied taking the win there and leaned back into his mound of pillows.
“Okay, now that I’ve kicked your ass I think I need a break.” The sound of the dice rolling had been a bit much for his head.
“Oh sure, deprive me of revenge,” Flash said with a grin. He didn’t hesitate to start packing up the game, though he fidgeted with the pieces a little. “So, um, something that my— that someone does for me when I have a concussion is to read to me. Does that sound okay?”
Danny was stunned for a moment. He couldn’t remember when anyone had read to him. He’s sure his parents or Jazz must have, but he just didn’t remember. His parents were always busy and Jazz had her own things to read. It sounded… nice. “Um, yeah, sure. Did you bring something?”
“Yeah! Percy Jackson. Have you read them yet?”
“Nope. I wasn’t really… big on books for awhile,” Danny admitted.
“Oh, dude, you’re in for a treat! They’re a great series,” Flash said, perking up. “Settle in and lay down a little if you need.”
Danny was a bit hesitant to; his couch wasn’t that big. Flash didn’t seem to mind Danny tucking his toes under Flash’s thigh as he bundled down into the pillows, so he tried not to worry. Flash seemed happy enough to settle down too and start to read.
“Look, I didn’t want to be a half-blood.” Flash started, voice surprisingly soothing for how energetic the guy was. “If you’re reading this because you think you might be one, my advice is: close this book right now.”
This might have been the best concussion Danny ever had.
-----
AN: Thank you for all the thoughts on what the two could do! I couldn't fit in Jenga, but hopefully everyone likes where it went. I feel my writing is tad rough here, but still recovering from the medication change. Confession- I've actually not read the Percy Jackson books, but seems like a series Wally might remember fondly.

More Trigun Racing AU!!! Wow!!!
Please give no welcome at all for your own safety to the elusive Racer Number 999.
The Pale White Horse. The Silver Angel. The Last Racer. Triple Nine. Maybe even Nines if you’re suicidal. This formidable legend of many names has only ever been seen once on the track 70 years ago. Was it mass hysteria? No one truly knows if he’s real. But something cleared that track in record time, and the unfortunate racers on it never lived to tell the tale…
Talking and Design Notes Under Cut as Usual
Since this is a Stampede au I! Didn’t have a lot to work with from the original content! But it’s okay cause I read Max❤️.
That said I wanted Knives to appear somewhat more uniform then Vash. It is essentially still SEEDS uniform, but I wanted it to feel somewhat at home in a racer setting, a bit more uniform to contrast everyone else who is a little wackier. So designing it close to astronaut attire felt like the way to go. A weird mix of general pro racer attire and something that feels a bit alien and unapproachable. The Onesie situation was also non negotiable. It’s in black now because I read Max❤️.
A lot my inspiration came from Knives’ edgy black Griffith suit he just fucking wore that one time (points to his helmet and the three eyes) as well as the abstract sci fi work of Range Murata.
I love the name 999 for the wordplay on Knives and Nai and Nines and Nine. It is also the last racer number. And the angel number 999 is so perfectly oxymoronic to his whole character and situation I guess it was perfect. Something about the end of everything too.
Knives in this au, like Stampede, still has an obsession with the idea of belonging and home. Where No Mans Land here is a purgatory, a criminal’s playground, Knives has a strong affinity for and desire to reach the stars. But he needs the power within both him and his brother to do that.
His car is dubbed the Ark too, it’s an extension of himself, made out of the material remains of his sisters and his own gate. It can drive on its ‘own’, but doesn’t for the purpose of winning, but rather to enact some form of judgement in one big swoop.
Not actually interested in this game Zazie has orchestrated, but the two are more so on equal footing in this setting, so Knives compromises. His car only appears twice, and he only actually races once. That one time being against his brother…for drama’s sake…
Oh also, glasses are reference to when he really fucked shit up that one time. Crazy swagger (among other things) radiating off this…

It's been a while since I put together Part 1 of my GO fanfic recs. Having read a ton more since then, I figured it was time for another list.
In no particular order:
1. 'On Espionage and Prophecy (or How to Accidentally, but Wholly, Fall in Love With a Soho Bookseller)' by RockSaltAndRoll (Explicit)
This fic takes place in 1941 with MI5Agent!Crowley and bookseller!Aziraphale. Aziraphale is first recruited by, who he thinks, is an MI5 but turns out not to be. Crowley, an actual MI5 Agent then recruits him to "double cross the double-crosser". Lots of pining and badassery (from both sides) ensue in this one!
2. 'Ricochet' by NaroMoreau (Explicit)
I'm a sucker for anything written by Naro but 'Ricochet' has become one of my favourite fics of theirs. Crowley is missing his angel after S2 and ends up summoning another version of Aziraphale. So, we get 1 Crowley, 2 Aziraphale's. The best mix. The writing in this is *chef kiss*. How Naro writes Crowley's pain and the characterizations of the 2 separate Aziraphale's -- just gorgeous.
3. ‘Terminus’ by BraveLight (Teen & Up Audiences)
I had no idea how much I needed an Astronaut!Aziraphale and MissionController!Crowley AU in my life until I read this fic. They have to team up to get Aziraphale home, but there’s way more to the mission than meets the eye. The twists and turns had me clicking 'next chapter' instantly. And the way Crowley and Aziraphale's relationship is written is so gentle and romantic—it’s perfect.
4. "Villainous" by IneffablePenguin (Explicit)
This is THE fairy tale AU you need to read! Crowley (Crow) is a sorcerer, and Aziraphale (Azra) is a prince—this fic honestly feels like it belongs on a best-seller list. IneffablePenguin has a real gift for painting vivid scenes that are so easy to picture. And those final chapters? They totally got me. I couldn't put this fic down.
5. "Cilice It To Say" by izzyspussy (Explicit)
Ho boy. This will be a fic I'll think about often. It's up there with the one I mention next. It's not as explicit as some of the other I've read but jesus christ. As it says on the tin: Crowley has a kink - The kink is Aziraphale. This is big on divinity kink, if that's not your jam, you may not like this one.
6. "Tether" by Ginger_Cat (Explicit)
It's coming up on a year of reading this fic and I think about Chapter 6 constantly. I don't want to spoil it but let me tell you, it's worth it. Aziraphale, now Supreme Archangel, keeps getting summoned back to Earth by Crowley but they don't know why.
7. "Intermezzo" by FeralTuxedo (Explicit)
Aziraphale is a music critic who, back in the day, tanked Crowley’s classical music career with a harsh review of his debut opera. If my fic recs haven’t given it away yet, I’m all about that bickerflirting, and this fic provides. It's also by FeralTuxedo. Anything written by them is 10/10.
WIP'S
8. “Reclaimed” by gallifreyshawkeye (Mature):
Are you in the mood for some Crowley Whump? If so, this fic DELIVERS. Gallifreyshawkeye knows how to paint a very vivid image of injury, so do mind the tags. This takes place 4 years after S2 and Crowley gets dragged down to hell by Satan in front of Aziraphale. It's honestly one of my favourite WIP's at the moment. I am on the edge of my seat whenever a new chapter comes out.
9. "Wavelengths & Frequencies" by imposterssyndrome, shades_of_eccles_cakes (Explicit)
Who doesn't love an enemies to friends to lovers story? While this fic only has 3 chapters so far, I am hooked. But hey, you give me a fic with Crowley and Aziraphale as radio hosts, I am there! I'm so excited to see how this develops and to see more of our 2 idiots going at each other.
10. "Stroke Play" by moonyinpisces (Explicit)
Moony knows how to write pining and I am here for it. In this AU, Crowley competes in beach volleyball, while Aziraphale takes on the golf course at the 2024 Olympics. They're both so down bad for each other but no one communicates. I love it!

Got any good fic recs? Send them my way :) Sharing is caring.

This week I have mostly been reading...
May 13-19th, 2024
New idea I've had, and hopefully something I'll have time to do once a week on a Sunday. Over the past seven days, I have devoured the following Good Omens fanfics, and I recommend these most heartily to you:
Completed works I've read this week:
Boyfriend Debut by snae_b Rated E - A & C are both porn actors. It sounds seedy. It's not. Holy Hell, it's not. It's one of the hottest things I've ever read, but also so, so sweet and delightful.
They Drink Tea At The End by @knifeforkspooncup Rated T - After a year spent in Heaven, A returns to C in the bookshop completely and utterly overstimulated in every sensory capacity. A wonderful, sweet story of them truly knowing each other and an excellent example of how the fandom relates to GO in so many beautiful ways.
Pay Per View by IneffableToreshi Rated E - A lovely story set in Canada, full of our so frequently seen miscommunication between A & C. And, as the author says: "Also, why the fuck is Aziraphale watching porn in their hotel room?! And taking notes?!"
Cranking Up The Heat by @vavoom-sorted-art Rated E - Well, the title says it all, really. And the fic's description: "The equivalent of that hot wings challenge, but with porn." Don't really want to say much more, as you've gotta see it to enjoy it.
On The Same Page by Chekhov Rated E - A fake marriage fic with Only One Bed. A & C are both authors, but two very different ones. Excellently written with very vividly described mental struggles with internal homophobia & self loathing.
A Model Guardian by Fuuma_san Rated E - As a former model, I found this fic really interesting. I'd genuinely love to know what the author's tie/experience in the industry is. C is a model, A is their bodyguard. An interesting tale which involves some great discussion on gender.
In The Room Where You Sleep by @mrghostrat Rated E - Another banger by ghostrat, posted in its entirety this week. In a reversal to many other fics I've seen, A is a vampire and C is a vampire hunter. *Homer Simpson voice* With sexy results. ;)
WIPs which have updated this week (which I devour as soon as I get the update!)
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out by @phoen1xr0se Rated M - A is a researcher (puffins!), C is a lighthouse keeper on the island where A has run away to to escape his problems and do his research. The author has recently spent a week studying puffins - which is the ultimate dedication, if you ask me. Ch 9/26 posted this week
Find The Light by @klikandtuna Rated E - Headmaster A and Rockstar C. The story teases out a fraught history between them whilst keeping a tension between them in the modern day. Ch 4/? posted this week.
Terminus by @emotional-support-demon-crowley Rated T - Astronaut A is guided back to Earth by controller C after 92 years in space. There are many difficulties both of them have to face and they develop an amazing rapport. Ch 15/17 posted this week.
Oddity by @tsyvia48 Rated E - Actor C is contracted by (useless) Gabriel to guest curate an exhibition at the museum where A works. After getting off on the wrong foot, can they work together to pull off this show? Ch 22/24 posted this week.
Under The Summer Stars by @pannotbread Rated E - This wonderful fic has taught me more about physics than school ever did (mostly because I never did any physics, but...well). A & C have to share their time at an observatory because there is Only One Telescope. Not only will you learn about astrophysics, astrobiology, and astroecology, you'll also read some of the most poetically, beautifully written masturbation scenes I've ever seen. *ahem* Ch 6/13 posted this week.
Free by well, me: imposterssyndrome Rated E - A & C meet (again?) in an acute mental health ward after both having had mental health crises. A runs a bookshop but is very much under his parents' control. C has been homeless since childhood and has struggled his entire life. They do not trust each other when they first meet, but feel strangely drawn to one another all the same. Where will this lead them? This is a passion piece for me. There is a lot of lived experience in it, and extensive research from both professionals and peers. It has been a real journey for me to write it, and as I'm coming closer to the end it's becoming very emotional for me. Ch 43/? posted this week

Note
i believe johnny needs some attention 🤭 A, B, C, & D?
Tumblr media
Prompts from this dirty ask game, and the answer is my general impressions of canon Human Torch. Note at the end explains why it can't be my Johnny Storm AU in the works.
MINORS DNI. This is not for you, kiddos. Sorry.
Tumblr media
A - Alone Time
He's not a man of finesse, that's for sure. Johnny doesn't consider or analyze anything long enough to know what his preferences are--
(unscented lotion and BBW porn)
--and he also isn't consistent. He's too young to need to think of a self-care routine and spends almost no time alone.
When not training, away on mission, or doing PR--a big job as the bad-boy of the astronaut program and the most charismatic of the Four,--he goes out a lot.
He feeds off the attention (and approval) of others, and therefore masturbation...does not fill that void.
B - Bondage
Johnny doesn't have that kind of forethought, and if Sue ever heard one fucking whiff of him restraining someone...she'd use magnetic fields to squish his testicles into oblivion.
If him being tied up is what gets him laid for the night, then strap that puppy down already! Only improvised stuff, though, like scarves, neckties, fuzzy cuffs, or whatever.
Johnny is a speed demon in every aspect of life. Bondage takes time, limits sex positions, slows him down (when moving others), and just...yeah, not appealing.
C - Crying
What type of crying we talking? If he's just met you, and suddenly, you're blubbering about how your boss treats you or some deep-seated family trauma, Johnny will jump out the window to get away.
Now, shedding tears because of how amazing his cock feels stretching you out and because he's the best fuck you've ever had...well, he can understand that. You go ahead and cry. The only soothing he'll be doing is to keep going.
Otherwise, he's got nothing.
No sweet words. No compulsion to talk about it. No intention of diving deeper and getting to know you.
Johnny is a one-trick pony in this department (sex); there's rarely a second hookup.
D - Dominance
His existence feels like a perpetual game. Johnny is always leveling up after a boss battle, and his life--his real life--amounts to nothing more than side quests.
Naturally, he's a take-whatever-he-wants and do-whomever-whenever-he-pleases type of guy. It's not dominance or submission.
He's amused when his bed partner shows some initiative or control, but he doesn't need them to. He is used to taking over, thinking on his feet, and finishing a job.
He's what we might call a 'practical dom.' He takes over out of necessity. If Johnny slowed down enough to really listen to and bond with someone, he'd have and existential crisis and fall apart.
That's why he's only alone when passed out drunk or exhausted. He won't survive self-reflection.
Thank you for asking!

[Main Masterlist; Dirty Asks Masterlist; Ko-Fi]
A/N: I couldn't answer almost any of these using Johnny from Phantom Pleasure because that's ghost!Reader. Bondage? Of a ghost? Probably not. Crying? Eh, long story, but unlikely. Dominate a non-corporeal entity? Yeah, no. And, weirdly enough, being alone? When a ghost could be there but not visible? Oops! (Yes, reader gets to see Johnny's alone time routine in that tale. Teehee. It's the opening scene lol.)
