Perseverance! Rookie member of the EEG’s field research team. She’s a nerd-jock newbie who wants her idols to like her sooooooooooo bad.

-> Biology major with a particular interest in ecology! And bugs she likes bugs. And really all sorts of fun crawly invertebrates.

-> Perse is no stranger to the EEG headquarters, she’d been coming here for years before her official admission to the team! With two older relatives to shadow, she got to know a lot of the older members during her frequent visits. She greatly admires all of them.

-> She maintains some terrariums to raise and study copepods and amphipods. As well as several potted plants.

-> Perse has the same level of passion discussing a new and as of yet undocumented species as she does showing off the cute little house moth that almost gave Maven a heart attack.

-> She’s a hobbyist photographer with a Leica 1(A) 35mm. She’s into wildlife photography, and though her work isn’t very technically impressive, you don’t need to be an ace at something to have fun with it!

-> Perseverance maintains that she is NOT a nerd like her cousin, Maven, is a nerd.

-> She’s very athletic and energetic. She enjoys a daily jog, and plenty of exercise both indoors and outdoors. She loves going on hiking or full on camping trips with her uncle Phoenix.

-> She and Phoenix are very close. They’ve got a really easygoing and playful dynamic, with plenty of in-jokes built up between them. Phoenix was a constant in her early life, almost a third parent. He’d often visit to play with her and to babysit so her dads could enjoy a free evening every so often. He still dotes on her as much as Perse will let him get away with, but he respects that she values having a more adult relationship now. Still with plenty of fun, of course!

-> Perse and Maven weren’t really around each other as young kids, but became friends as they got a little older. Maven’s scientific leanings led to Perse finding and developing her own passion for study and exploration. Maven and the rest of her family have been nothing but supportive and nurturing, and she’s grateful for it. But she wants to make sure they know she’s not just a little girl anymore, and she’s ready to be the one offering support when needed.

-> She’s more than willing to get her hands dirty and to do ‘boring’, menial work. Especially if it means the people she looks up to see how diligent and cooperative she is :)

-> Perse is very needlessly competitive, though in a lighthearted sort of way. She doesn’t mind taking a loss, because it’s more about the challenge than the winning. It’s about the thrill. But don’t expect her to go easy on a challenger, because she still plays to win. Game night is a disaster

These objects each manage a different essential system in the background of the game... The player will never see these objects directly, so they don't need sprites at all!

But... it's always a fun warm up exercise to make them look pretty anyway. It makes the workspace far more pleasant to look at~

Ok gonna rant for a bit in here. I've spent about 10-12 hours at this point working on a little game for a school project. It is going pretty well, all things considered. HOWEVER.

The code doesn't seem to run some of the rooms. I have five rooms, I have made it very clear in-code that the order is start room -> prep room one -> part one -> prep room 2 -> part two -> back to the start room.

Start room runs, but only sometimes does it change to prep room one when I tell it to. SOMETIMES it works just fine. Sometimes it doesn't go at all. There aren't any apparent problems with the code. Part one does not run at all. Again, I've detected no problems with the code and the game doesn't abort itself when it tries to run. It just says "entering main game loop" and never opens up the window. Everything AFTER part one runs fine (when I put it at the top of the hierarchy for bug testing). But I can't run part one, and that is a major problem because that's the room that's going to require a LOT more bug testing.

Part two? Gonna need a little tweaking to make it ideal, but it's very straightforward and doesn't take too much code. Both prep rooms and the start menu only have a few visuals and ONE way for the player to interact with them (clicking to the next room). But part one is much more complicated and I have no way to bug test it or optimize the gameplay. I don't know where the issue is. I'm going to commit homicide.

NORMAL BEHAVIOR KING.

I do not have very sophisticated opinions. Tony Stark, as a character, is defined by his flaws. He fucks up, he does his best to make up for it, he helps people. That's what makes him a hero and a good person. He makes a mistake and he takes responsibility for it. He tries, fails, and tries again until he gets it right. Otherwise he'd be pretty unlikable.

Pulling Peter into the Germany thing in Civil War was a massive mistake and I think Tony understood that. I mean it was actual literal child trafficking. It was incredibly messed up. Tony behavior, but not at all appropriate for an adult to do.

It's interesting to go from there, because now this guy absolutely took responsibility for the one child in NYC who is physically incapable of being normal about anything, and he completely dodged that responsibility. Hoco seemed like the process of him realizing "holy shit I'm doing what my dad did", taking responsibility for Peter, and helping him out and giving him the support he should have had in the first place. In his really clunky and earnest but very weird and ineffective Tony way.

Like that was my impression? My impression was "he sucks, but he's trying". That's IM in a nutshell. It's interesting. It's physically incapable of being interesting if you strike through the "yeah but he's terrible at it" aspect of this. There is nothing left. Their relationship is built on a foundation of Tony Being Absolutely Terrible At This. But he's trying, because Tony always wants to be better even when he doesn't know how.
