THE PROBLEM WITH PRIDE 🌈👀😤 Black Pride (LGBTQIA+) 365 days‼️ I had a fantastic time at the 5th Annual Black Pride Parade + arts, culture and music fest. It was giving Black Queer Joy all day long. Y’all know I LOVE Black people Black peopling. 🥰💜

HOWEVER, we in the queer community need to do better with Asexual inclusivity, representation and resource support. How do we promote a community that offers refuge for noncis/nonheterosexuals while participating in Ace erasure? The I and A isn’t silent in LGBTQIA+ 🎙️♠️

This Weekend: Duck Prints Press at Arisia!

Arisia, the largest, most diverse sci-fi and fantasy convention in New England, runs this weekend from Friday, January 12th to Monday, January 15th, and Duck Prints Press will be there!

Held at the Westin Boston Seaport District hotel, Arisia draws several thousand SFF fans for four days of panels, cosplay, shopping, music, and more. The guests of honor this year are Ryka Aoki, Winona Nelson, and Tanya DePass, and over 50 vendors will fill the vending hall with all the sci-fi and fantasy stuff you could dream of…including us!

I (unforth/Nina Waters) will be manning our vending table the entire time the dealer’s room is open. The hours are:

Friday, Jan. 12th: 5 PM Eastern – 9 PM Eastern

Saturday, Jan. 13th: 10 AM Eastern – 7 PM Eastern (closed 1 PM to 2 PM)

Sunday, Jan. 14th: 10 AM Eastern – 7 PM Eastern (closed 1 PM to 2 PM)

Battle of the Bees (Battle of Tanga): British Indian Army was attempting to capture German East Africa. First some dude just told the Germans to give up which obviously didn't work and just gave them time to prepare. So then the British go into the city and their troops get broken up and they just kinda fought between some plantations, whatever. Then the real army arrived, BEES. They attacked both the British and the Germans. The British then claimed that the Germans somehow controlled the bees. They also left a bunch of equipment while retreating. So you know they kinda left them with ammunition, guns and apparently the ability to control bees?

The Great Molasses Flood: oh you know. They made a shit tank (poorly constructed), filled it with molasses and then it exploded and the streets of Boston got flooded. Apparently it smelled like molasses for decades afterwards.
