The Aftermath
Characters: Kane, Mian Zerkolo
Story: Brothers from other Mothers
TW: none
WC: 383
After everything has settled down, and Kane has bid Tynan and Asha goodbye, he looks around the empty throne room.
The blood has already been cleaned, Azriel led away in chains. Even the guards aren't around anymore.
The most notable person missing, though, is Mian. So he sets out to find his child the prince.
As he expected, Mian is in his father's (old?) office, although he seems to have moved past everything important in it and straight to the balcony, looking out over the land.
He doesn't look up at the noise of the door opening and closing, but Kane knows he's very aware of who just entered.
"What's going on in that head of yours?" Kane asks, walking over and resting his arms on the balcony railing.
"I..." Mian hesitates before moving closer, pressing himself against Kane's side like he used to when he was younger. He's taller than he was back then, broader too, but still small enough for Kane to wrap an arm around him in quiet support. Or is Kane just that large? "I just don't know anymore."
"You don't know anymore?" Kane softly prompts when Mian doesn't go on after a while.
"What to do. What to think. I mean - at first I was so busy with getting back home, and then I learned all that stuff while traveling and I knew I had to put a stop to it, and now I just. Don't know anymore."
"You were so busy with achieving your goals, you didn't think about what would happen after them." Kane nods, squeezing Mian briefly.
"There's still a lot to do. I know we still have to deal with the nymphs. But still, all I can think is 'what now? What comes next?'" Mian sighs, hanging his head.
"I get it. I had a lot of that, too, when I was younger. Still do. It'll be okay, though. You have plenty of people to help you along the way, don't you?"
"I do." A small smile forms on Mian's face, and Kane can't stop his own smile in response. Sure, things might seem bad right now, but everything will be fine, if people like Mian keep trying.
And, who knows, maybe he'll even find someone to be his successor after all this.

What a sap
Original post July 1st, 2023 (x)
Mian barely dares to breath as Alec pins him against the wall, face so incredibly close to his own.
Alec’s sword is buried in the wall only about an inch from his head, signifying Mian’s complete and utter defeat.
“Do you yield?” Alec’s voice is almost a purr, a smug grin on his face as he presses Mian against the wall harder.
“Mhm,” Mian hums, nodding a little bit. He doesn’t really trust his voice right now, not with his husband looking like that.
“Oh? What was that, babygirl? I didn’t quite hear you.”
“Y-yeah. I yield.” Mian tries to look away, his face feeling incredibly warm, but Alec keeps him from doing so with a hand on his face.
“See? That wasn’t so hard now, was it?” Alec’s eyes gleam with satisfaction and smugness, squishing Mian’s cheeks.
Mian just grumbles in response, weakly pushing against Alec’s chest to ‘push him away’. Alec, of course, reads Mian just fine, and leans his full body weight against him to keep him pinned.
The smug grin slowly fades, though, as he quietly studies Mian.
“Hey, babygirl?”
“Mm?”
“Can we kiss?”
Mian stares at his husband in surprise for a second before he softly smiles through the cheek squishing. What a sap. “Yeah, we can.”
Alec brightly smiles at him as he finally lets his cheeks go, leaning in for a sweet, chaste kiss. “I love you, babygirl.”
“I love you too, idiot.”

Back at it again with my Danny is mom coded au’s, but this time it’s because of Clockwork that he suddenly has a whole ass teenage kid.
Clockwork had been bored or maybe he was playing a game against an opponent, or even lost a bet, whatever it was, he stepped in right as Jason was searching for his biological mother.
The DNA that would have registered itself as one Sheila Haywood, confirming Jason’s mother, glitched a terrible green across the screens of the batcomputer.
In those few moments of chaos Jason’s heart beat rapidly as he tried to figure out why the computer wasn’t working, wondering if his only chance to find his mom — his blood mom — would never find success.
Then as suddenly as things went wrong the DNA settled and pinged.
Jason watched, his chest tight, as one Danny C. Works, formerly Danny Fenton appeared onto the big screen.
Danny looked a lot like Jason, short cut black hair more straight than the subtle curls of Jason’s own; deep blue eyes, tired in a way that spoke of long days and nights, but with a warm happiness that made the familiar smile — the one Jason would see on himself every time he looked into the mirror — even more striking.
Jason didn’t linger too long on the male identifying gender, nor the fact his mom leaned more towards a masculine name or clothing.
There were plenty of male to female, and female to male leaning individuals that lived in Crime Alley. He had seen it enough to not even bat an eye at it, even now. After all, in Gotham you minded your business least you find yourself in business you can’t leave.
On a different monitor information of Danny C. Works piled for Jason to quickly browse through.
Danny was a senior engineer, no intimate relationships, and with no close connections to family outside of the tentative calls from Jasmine Fenton.
Danny was estranged from Jack and Madeline Fenton, a falling out that had occurred just a little before Danny’s high school graduation. If Jason calculated it correctly that would have been — around the season Jason himself would have been born.
Okay, so no grandparents then but I might have a maybe aunt. Jason scrolled further and stilled.
Twin toddlers: Dante and Danielle Works.
Jason had baby siblings.
He doesn’t let the sting of younger siblings consume him, doesn’t allow the whispering thoughts of why he had been given up when his younger siblings had been kept and so very obviously loved.
Jason took deep breathes, he didn’t have time to linger here. He had a family to get to, and a family he would get to.
It took almost all night to reach, the starlight night sky slowly and surely fading into cloudy wine as the sun rose, but Jason made it.
And when the door opened to his hesitant but firm knock, Jason was unable to speak. His mom — dad, maybe? Did they want to be mom or dad? — stood in the doorway, brows furrowed in confusion.
It was when Danny spoke his vigilante name did Jason only just realize that he was still dressed to the nine’s in his Robin costume.

DPXDC Idea: Mother of Monsters Dan(yal)
Specifically Fem!Dan because I made this in mind with my Fem Danyal Au bUT. The best part about Dan is that I get to play dress up with her, and Fem Dark Dany is gonna go by Layal (pronounced lae-el) because it means "the nights" and it sounds similar to Danyal, and I think she'd choose that name to mock Dany. ANYWAYS
Mother of Monsters Danyal. She may be evil but she's an Al Ghul at her core (even with vlad's soul merged with hers - however, considering that Layal looks and sounds like Dany, she considers that soul to be the more dominant one.) and loves animals. And she might be heartless, but she adores the monsters of the infinite realms.
Mother of Monsters Layal who hates everyone but utterly dotes and adores on every manner of beast she comes across. Stealing the eggs and infant young beasts of the Infinite Realms to raise as her own because she wanted them. Her own island full of monsters, a monstrous menagerie of her own. She steals most often from poachers or exotic pet keepers and other menageries -- the full grown beasties can keep their young.
And with every monster she raises, she can shapeshift their features onto herself, allowing her to change her shape from humanish to any matter of monster or hybrid creature. She calls herself their mother, and them her children. Her precious little babies, capable of incredible mass destruction and mayhem.
From little griffins the size of kittens, to stymphalian vulture chicks, and leviathan young hatching from eggs the size of her pinkie, to creatures native of the ghost zone that didn't even have names in the living realm. There really wasn't a limit to what or who she would take in and she didn't limit herself to any form of mythology. If they were beasts and they were unwanted, she wanted them. And as such, amassed her own mini army of "children" willing to listen to her any command.
Earth doesn't know what hit it when she attacks them.
There are many monstrous forms she could take on, the first one I've thought of is a combination of various serpentine/reptilian features. The body of a naga -- her lower half long and serpentine, her upper still human -- with spiked fins connecting from the bottom of her arms to her sides, ever seen Sinbad where Eris goes "you might have seen my likeness on the temple walls" and her arms do that fin thingy? Same concept. Her hands are webbed and taloned, perfect for slicing through the skin of the living, and her teeth are needle-sharp and shark like. Her hair can either be spiny and feathery-like like the spines of a lionfish, or frilled like a frilled-neck lizard. It's perfect for dealing and doting on her reptilian and amphibian-inclined darlings.
I'm more of a fan of aus where Dan is a sibling of Danny's rather than their kid, so Layal's redemption(..?? probation?) proceeds with her legally becoming Danyal's "twin" sister, who had been lost to the foster system before the Fentons adopted Dany, and was only recently reunited with her. The two of them look so alike that the lie is easy to take root and spread.
Layal is very indignant to the fact that she's now ten years in the past and has to restart her menagerie all over again. Do you know how much blood and sweat went into raising those children? How dare you separate them from their mummy. Although she'll admit she does miss their juvenile years, so she won't mind (too much) needing to raising them again. Dany is helping her retrieve all of them though, dammit.
long story short: epic the musical's "Scylla" has a CHOKEHOLD on me and this is the result of it
Unlike her Dan counterpart, Layal's voice is dancing and sirenic. It's purposely alluring and motherly, in order to lure people into a false sense of security until she feeds them to her "children." Echidna doesn't have shit on her. She almost seems friendly and reasonable, until you get too close and realize it was all an act and she drops it to metaphorically swallow you whole. She's like an anglerfish that way. She and Dany both sound like Scylla from Epic.

"Rhaenyra isn't the stepmother, she's the mother who stepped up!"
The HOTD writers themselves are hardly doing anything to support that narrative, so I take this rhetoric with a grain of salt. While I think, in some way, Rhaenyra does care for Baela and Rhaena....if I had to point out a motherly figure for them that could pose as someone stepping in Laena's place, Rhaenyra would not be it.

low key i think to deny Riko's trauma is to deny his narrative importance in the story.
like Riko's trauma related to his father parallels neil's. His concept of brotherhood adds complexity to Andrew and Aaron's relationship. He acts not just as an antagonist but as a foil to other character's relationship to trauma and violence.
to solely view riko through the lense of his actions is to miss the point. He is a character in a story, not a real breathing human being.

Verlaine betrayed Rimbaud because Asagiri knew that happy domestic Rimlaine + Chuuya would result in Verlaine's maternal instincts switching on, and that's more devastating than Guivre itself.

Story: Brothers from other Mothers (but way into the future)
CW: none

so with echoes of wisdom .. i havent watched any of the trailers beyond the very first one and the thumbnails/screenshots and what others have said about it-
but with the world inside the rift being called "Welt des Nichts" aka "world of nothing/void" in german ('still' in english, for some reason) and demises title in french being "avatar of nothing" ... yeah my anxiety is shooting through the roof again
(hopefully you can be a little more forgiving for me being anxious/weird about it bc demise is my blorbo)
i had similar worries with totk, that werent proven true thankfully, but the darn book is making it all worse again with all those weird lore things the game doesnt even so much as hint at AND potential retcons- im in for a really rough time huh, not just stress in real life (more in tags.. its alot) but now about my specific hyperfixation from two things even (AND artblock still..)
weird as it may sound, i dont want demise to get more lore, partly bc i dont believe theyd do anything with him that i would like (given their track record) but much more importantly- the fact that he has this little lore about him is precisely one of the reasons why i fell in love with him, i tend to like characters that are neglected by the narrative, and his story being both so flat and already done meant i can be very creative with what i come up with for him without necessarily contradicting anything in canon
(which is ... or was a big point of how i wrote destiny's story and lore, working with canon in a way that reframes it all without straight up ignoring it ... but i suppose i urgently need to let go of that and accept i spend alot of time working things that will go to waste :( )
AND not having to worry that there will be more stuff with him that would massively change not only what im writing but also potentially how i feel about him since the game he was briefly in was the oldest chronologically and ended with his death- i didnt expect them to mess with anything that far back and thought theyd just go forward and leave the timeline behind and wouldnt mess with it again, given how botw seemed to be a sort of 'fresh start' that seemingly regarded the past as the past that needs to rest and that the timeline was finally no longer a discussion if everythings unified through botw and one thing going forward
but i suppose i was very wrong with that .__.
right now the only thing that motivates me still is the left over determination and spite to work on my zelda comic, since i have never gotten this far and really want to get something done for once, but i cant lie that im feeling like i should pause all work on it too to wait and see waht the book and the new game will do .. either to determine if i still have the will to keep working on it after those things are out (my love for tloz has been taking alot of hits lately ..) or if i have to change stuff (mostly bc of my lore problem trying to not ignore it ..)

One of my favourite Ace Attorney headcanons is how Maya and Phoenix came to consider each other as siblings.
So in turnabout goodbyes, when Maya and Larry meet for the first time, he mistakes Maya as Phoenix's little sister and it never gets corrected.
I believe that Maya and Phoenix went along with tricking Larry for months, until it wasn't a joke anymore and they genuinely considered each other siblings.
One day, Larry meets Pearl and overhears her say that Maya and Phoenix are together, only then do they finally reveal it was a prank.
