The Positive Impact of Altruism on Society
Altruism has a profound and positive impact on society, fostering stronger social bonds, creating supportive communities, and promoting well-being for both individuals and groups. Here’s how:
1. Strengthening Social Cohesion
Building Trust: Acts of altruism promote mutual trust among individuals, which is essential for building cohesive communities. When people witness or experience altruism, they are more likely to help others, creating a reinforcing cycle of generosity.
Reducing Conflict: Altruism helps to reduce social tensions by encouraging people to empathize with others and act for the common good, even at a personal cost. This mindset supports peaceful interactions and a more tolerant society.
2. Supporting the Vulnerable
Improving Access to Resources: Altruistic actions provide essential resources—like food, shelter, healthcare, and education—to vulnerable populations. By addressing these basic needs, altruism can reduce poverty and improve the quality of life for marginalized individuals.
Encouraging Inclusivity: Altruism often leads to initiatives that support those marginalized or neglected by society. These efforts foster inclusion and promote equality, helping to create a society that values all individuals.
3. Enhancing Mental and Emotional Well-Being
Boosting Happiness and Life Satisfaction: Research shows that both giving and receiving altruism can increase happiness and reduce stress. Altruistic behavior stimulates areas of the brain associated with pleasure, contributing to overall mental well-being.
Reducing Loneliness: Altruistic actions help people connect with others in meaningful ways, reducing feelings of isolation. This interconnectedness promotes resilience and a sense of belonging.
4. Encouraging Civic Engagement
Fostering Volunteerism: Altruism often inspires volunteer work, which strengthens communities by addressing local needs and problems. Volunteerism also encourages civic engagement, increasing people’s investment in their communities.
Promoting a Culture of Responsibility: Altruistic behavior encourages individuals to take responsibility for the welfare of others, promoting a culture where people feel accountable to one another and motivated to contribute positively.
5. Driving Economic Benefits
Increasing Productivity: Altruistic actions can lead to healthier, more resilient workers and communities, which boosts productivity and contributes to economic stability. Supporting social programs, for example, reduces long-term costs associated with healthcare and crime.
Attracting Socially Responsible Investments: In societies where altruism is valued, there is often greater support for businesses and organizations that prioritize social good. This attracts ethical investments and encourages businesses to adopt sustainable practices.
6. Promoting Positive Social Change
Advancing Social Justice: Altruism drives social justice initiatives, addressing issues such as inequality, discrimination, and access to resources. These efforts foster an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Inspiring Innovation: Altruism often motivates people to find creative solutions to societal challenges, such as improving healthcare access, sustainability, or educational opportunities. These innovations benefit society as a whole and set new standards for problem-solving.
7. Encouraging Environmental Responsibility
Supporting Sustainability: Altruistic values lead to a greater awareness of environmental stewardship, as people seek to protect and preserve resources for future generations. Many environmental movements are rooted in altruism, emphasizing a commitment to the collective welfare of both humanity and the planet.
Altruism builds a foundation for healthier, happier, and more resilient societies. By fostering cooperation, trust, and compassion, it not only addresses immediate social issues but also cultivates a forward-thinking culture invested in the well-being of all. Through the positive ripple effects of altruistic actions, society can achieve greater solidarity, sustainability, and long-term prosperity.

DPxDC Trials and Tribulations of Summoning
You know how in most Summoning Danny pieces, it's either some unnamed cult or John Constantine doing the actual circle drawing and chanting and stuff? And while, yes, it makes sense, consider this: Constantine doesn't know shit about summoning ghosts/entities from Infinite Realms. He is more than knowledgeable in summoning demons and biblical horrors and gods and whatnot, but the Realms are an entirely different field of tricky fuckery, and require a completely different skillset and knowledge of different runes and stuff.
Think about it like being a dentist and then getting asked to perform neurosurgery. Like, yes, sure, you're a doctor, and both areas are generally head-related, but it's not your specialty, you don't know anything about it aside from the most general stuff.
So, when the JL needs to summon the Ghost King for whatever reason, and they ask John Constantine, he doesn't start drawing runes on the floor. Instead, he calls a friend.
An hour later, the whole Justice League is graced by the presence of a very young, very obviously goth girl with a sharp tongue, who makes it a point to express how not pleased she is to meet them.
Samantha Manson is rather unimpressed by both the hero assembly in front of her and the alleged world-ending threat she is shown. She doesn't call for Ghost King or anything like that, even, she just clicks her tongue, asks for a pinch of sea salt, a bouquet of any flowers they can find, a mirror, and a few other nonsensical items of choice.
The threat is eliminated within minutes with a bunch of weird magic that no one, not even the members of the JLD, understands.
"You don't need the King for this shit," Samantha Manson says, brushing her hands off, "It'd be like fighting a single cockroach with a nuclear explosion. Don't call me again."
They do call her again, of course. Several times over the years of fighting off all the things that come for Earth.
Until on one memorable occasion, she does summon the Ghost King, and the teen angst bullshit goes from bad to worse in a matter of seconds. Apparently, the King is of the same age as Samantha, and boy, do they have beef with each other.
At least the world does get saved in the process, so there's that.

i think its so funny when people take the way donnie acts at face value even though its a horrible lie because he's a horrible liar, while understanding leo is bullshitting very well despite him actually being GOOD at bullshitting. many such cases
#personal#rottmnt#although tbf its probably because with leo its unpacked more thoroughly in the movie#donnie is not a morally ambiguous emotionally unavailable bad boy. he is very sensitive actually#he's a little crybaby /aff#and like this isnt hidden. he isnt SECRETLY sensitive or secretly caring its very out in the open actually#he's not hiding it well AT ALL AND THEY ALL KNOW IT LMAOOOOOOOO#i think donnie's perception of himself is somewhat earnest and somewhat. not? he DEFINITELY thinks he's more evil than he actually is#BGHFHDHGJFHG#i think what causes him to lash out and struggle to communicate is his inability to articulate his feelings#they are just too big for him. like its the exact opposite of robotic#he cant force himself to give a fuck but when he DOES its too much#so he yells and lashes out or he shuts down completely#honestly i think the perception of him being too sensitive being a problem makes way more sense than the perception of him being 'robotic'#when it comes to struggles in how his family sees him at least#even in little ways you can see him take it pretty personally when he's insulted#he struggles to blow things off#and i think it would also explain his tendency to like. visibly calm himself down when he gets upset? its a thing he does a lot in the show#he desperately wants to destroy that perception of him because he's trying so hard to close himself off#he doesn't want to be the sensitive one that cant take anything. it especially works in line with his shell#it was a big inspiration for canary continuity tbh. donnie should struggle with being the sensitive one in fic more#mikey is more empathetic and he's more emotional but donnie's quicker to feel offended or take things personally#BACKED UP HEAVILY BY CANON#that 'you can be honest with me! no hard feelings' - 'he's lyinggggggg'#like he's not upset with them babying him as much as he is with them genuinely finding it frustrating that he can fall behind like that#and just cannot take shit like that. so he tries to pull back and not seem as affected as he is#theyre a very cuddly family but mind you they can be actually mean to each other like that!!

Hospitals: Pillars of Health, Research, and Prosperity
Hospitals play a pivotal role in our lives, impacting individuals, families, and communities in numerous ways. They are the cornerstone of healthcare systems worldwide, providing essential medical services, research opportunities, and a source of employment for millions. In this article, we will delve into the multifaceted importance of hospitals and how they contribute to the overall well-being of society.
I. Accessible Healthcare for All
One of the primary roles of hospitals is to ensure accessible healthcare for everyone, regardless of their background, socio-economic status, or location. This commitment to inclusivity is fundamental to a just and equitable society. Here are some key points highlighting the importance of hospitals in providing accessible healthcare:
Emergency Care: Hospitals are equipped to handle emergencies, offering immediate care for life-threatening conditions. This accessibility can make the difference between life and death.
Preventive Services: Hospitals provide essential preventive services, such as vaccinations and screenings, promoting early detection and disease prevention.
Chronic Disease Management: For individuals with chronic conditions, hospitals offer ongoing care and treatment plans, enhancing their quality of life.
Maternal and Child Health: Hospitals play a crucial role in ensuring safe childbirth and neonatal care, reducing maternal and infant mortality rates.
Mental Health Services: Many hospitals have dedicated mental health units, addressing the growing need for mental healthcare.
II. Advancements in Medical Research
Hospitals are not just places for treatment; they are also hubs for medical research and innovation. Their importance in this regard cannot be overstated:
Clinical Trials: Hospitals often conduct clinical trials, providing patients with access to cutting-edge treatments and contributing to the development of new drugs and therapies.
Medical Education: Teaching hospitals serve as training grounds for future healthcare professionals, ensuring a continuous supply of skilled doctors, nurses, and researchers.
Data Collection: Hospitals gather vast amounts of medical data, which are invaluable for researchers studying diseases, treatment outcomes, and healthcare trends.
Innovation Hubs: Many medical breakthroughs, such as surgical techniques and medical devices, have been developed within the walls of hospitals.
III. Economic Impact
Hospitals are not just vital for public health but also for the economy. Their significance extends to the following economic aspects:
Job Creation: Hospitals are among the largest employers in many regions, offering job opportunities to healthcare workers, administrative staff, and support personnel.
Local Business Growth: Hospitals stimulate local economies by increasing the demand for businesses like pharmacies, medical supply stores, and restaurants near healthcare facilities.
Investment in Infrastructure: The construction and maintenance of hospitals drive investments in infrastructure, benefiting the construction industry and the community at large.
IV. Public Health Surveillance
Hospitals also contribute to public health by serving as key components in disease surveillance and control:
Epidemic Response: Hospitals play a central role in detecting, managing, and containing epidemics, as witnessed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Health Data: By collecting and analyzing health data, hospitals can identify emerging health trends and allocate resources accordingly.
Vaccination Campaigns: Hospitals are crucial in vaccination programs, ensuring that communities are protected from preventable diseases.
V. Community Well-being
Beyond medical services, hospitals are vital to the overall well-being of communities:
Social Support: Hospitals offer support groups and counseling services for patients and families dealing with chronic illnesses or traumatic events.
Community Outreach: Many hospitals engage in community outreach programs, addressing issues such as nutrition, substance abuse, and domestic violence.
Health Education: Hospitals provide health education to promote healthy lifestyles, preventive care, and early disease recognition.
Conclusion
In conclusion, hospitals are the backbone of healthcare systems and integral to the well-being of individuals and societies. Their importance goes far beyond medical treatment, encompassing research, economic impact, public health surveillance, and community support. Recognizing and supporting the multifaceted role of hospitals is essential for building healthier, more resilient communities and ensuring that healthcare remains accessible to all.

#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#lan wangji#jin zixun#wei wuxian#su she#(Su She needs to have his carrie moment before he can have his Carrie Moment.#Which means he needs to exist as a punching bag before he can hit 'em with the rebound).#My first draft of this comic had WWX slurping LWJ's wine per actual scene canon#As it really is a great scene of how WWX is willing to absorb the scandal and harm that befalls others.#It had a lot less to do with it being LWJ and more so that WWX just happens to be the kind of person who refuses to turn a blind eye.#It could have been any Lan who was being pressured (inappropriately) to drink (do not pressure anyone to drink irl PLEASE).#Because this is a romance plot it of course *is* LWJ. But don't forget that in this moment they aren't on great terms.#It's not a knight in shining armor moment - it's a 'you were being treated unjustly and I have the power to absolve you from that.'#And as we are very soon about to see - WWX certainly cannot turn away from those who need aid he can provide.#And like Jin Guangyao; that kindness is also his downfall.#By the way - that you all for the amazing community commentary on the last comic. I really loved reading everyone's thoughts!#Suyao shippers...I get it now. You had me at 'wen ning and WWX parallels'. I'll be back with a treat for you soon.#And yes 'everyone' does include the ironically named tumblr user jin zixun.#Who blocked me right before the character makes his pd-mdzs debut.#I hope you are well. You seem like you were having a real bad time yesterday.

Occasionally I find it mildly annoying when Palpatine is posited as the one Anakin had always trusted the most, tbh. There's a noticeable shift in how he interacts with Obi Wan and Palpatine in between aotc and rots, and there's an obvious reason why: the events of aotc themselves. He and Obi Wan had plenty of friction, but they were still close, and Anakin did in fact confide in him in his grumpy teenager way. About his feelings for Padme, about his worries for his mother. It's after his trip to Tatooine that he turns to Palpatine instead.

As cameras becomes more normalized (Sarah Bernhardt encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use cameras because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by manufacturing companies. I paint not because I want a painting but because I love the process of painting. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.
if i have to explain to you that using a camera to take a picture is not the same as using generative ai to generate an image then you are a fucking moron.
#ask me#anon#no more patience for this#i've heard this for the past 2 years#“an object created and controlled by companies” anon the company cannot barge into your home and take your camera away#or randomly change how it works on a whim. you OWN the camera that's the whole POINT#the entire point of a camera is that i can control it and my body to produce art. photography is one of the most PHYSICAL forms of artmakin#you have to communicate with your space and subjects and be conscious of your position in a physical world.#that's what makes a camera a tool. generative ai (if used wholesale) is not a tool because it's not an implement that helps you#do a task. it just does the task for you. you wouldn't call a microwave a “tool”#but most importantly a camera captures a REPRESENTATION of reality. it captures a specific irreproducible moment and all its data#read Roland Barthes: Studium & Punctum#generative ai creates an algorithmic IMITATION of reality. it isn't truth. it's the average of truths.#while conceptually that's interesting (if we wanna get into media theory) but that alone should tell you why a camera and ai aren't the sam#ai is incomparable to all previous mediums of art because no medium has ever solely relied on generative automation for its creation#no medium of art has also been so thoroughly constructed to be merged into online digital surveillance capitalism#so reliant on the collection and commodification of personal information for production#if you think using a camera is “automation” you have worms in your brain and you need to see a doctor#if you continue to deny that ai is an apparatus of tech capitalism and is being weaponized against you the consumer you're delusional#the fact that SO many tumblr lefists are ready to defend ai while talking about smashing the surveillance state is baffling to me#and their defense is always “well i don't engage in systems that would make me vulnerable to ai so if you own an apple phone that's on you”#you aren't a communist you're just self-centered
