Shi Qiong & Icy Lady relationships // LMK Cracked Bone AU

In the main post on Cracked Bone AU, I already said that being Chief of war Shi Qiong died and due to a mistake at resurrection, his character changed completely. Should I say how surprised the Lady Bone Demon was to meet her serious, stoic warrior as sweet and shy Mayor of the Megapolis?

It adds a bit of extra drama as it's too unexpected for the Icy Lady. Shi Qiong is also quite accommodating now. He doesn't defend his point of view as before and asks a lot for permission before doing something. Obviously, the Lady is unhappy by this. So, this is one of the main reasons why she decided to use the Macaque to collect fragments of the bone.

In short:

The Lady Bone Demon doesn't believe in the Mayor and is disappointed in him. The Mayor gets very upset about this.

Danny, pulling out a Yu-Gi-Oh card that upon close inspection is a very well made fake trap card with a gun on it, called 'The Nightmare Gun': looks like it's time to send you to the shadow realm, Joker.

I honestly can't wait either. Sadly the Joker is going to take a few more parts to get to. Dick is really loving the attention he's currently getting and is loathe to let Danny and Jason leave.

Also since you sent me an ask anon I'll gift you with a snippet of one of my favorite parts of part 14 so far (it's not even half done and it's already so long. Help)

"Yeah, we did. Dude, Nightwing, Dick, my man, my friend, my once upon a time idol, my brother in spandex," Danny turned his attention to Dick, leaning forward with an earnestness on his face that Dick wasn't experienced enough in Danny's brand of dramatics to be wary of yet, "are you secretly a supervillain attempting to conquer the world with super-mold?" Danny asked with all the blunt honesty of a small child approaching a stranger in a grocery store to ask them why their cart was filled with only ice cream.

"I-what?!" Dick choked out, thrown off by both the question and the manner in which Danny asked it. Jason coughed to disguise a laugh, feeling the amusement rolling off Danny in waves.

"It's okay if you are. We'll accept you no matter what you choose to be. But we really might want to workshop your methods. Mold just isn't a good look, y'know? I've come to realize after several harrowing and near death experiences in the past few hours that it might be horrifyingly effective, but do you really want to be known as Mold Man?" Danny kept his sincere expression and tone, somehow shifting subtly towards the realm of concerned close friend staging an intervention.

"What is happening?!" Dick muttered, looking at Jason with a face that screamed 'help me'.

Workin on monster Zora’s design, taking a lot of inspiration from Kampe. Sylvie’s is gonna be kindaaaa similar to her’s, except like. Ram. They’re probably gonna be some of the more clearly humanoid designs.

The monsters in the au are spirits of the dead. The way they appear as spirits reflect how they died, or how they felt regarding their last moments.

Modern AU where Alina works under Mob Boss Aleksander. They get married when he finds out she is the bastard daughter of his rival mob's leader (for power reasons and to end the fight between the two mobs) and when he threatens to skin her alive, Alina, Mal and Nikolai have a very serious discussion about whether this needs to be reported to HR or domestic abuse helpline.

They end up calling both. Ivan is the HR and Feydor is the domestic helpline guy.

Shi Qiong is reading a novel for his Lady // LMK Cracked Bone AU

Since Icy Lady is a workaholic, it’s hard for her to tear herself away from work. The Mayor came up with an interesting way to help Lady Bone Demon continue reading and let her sleep. Shi Qiong himself will read for her. At first he actually read ancient books and spells, but soon Lady realized that she can't remember the spells. Therefore, Shi Qiong began to read interesting Novels to his Lady. Most of them are dystopian, where people fight for their rights.

The new, more emotional character allows Shi Qiong to be a great read! Especially considering that the former warrior's voice has not changed. Icy Lady loves to listen to him read.

More Meat Marionette Au?

Body Horror Warning as Usual

Been a while since I pondered the Meat Marionette Au. So have some art for Jason. Because while he might not have died, that flesh puppet was torn apart and the Caves rebuilt it with whatever It could get its claws into.

So yeah, that Joker arc does sort of happen- albeit in Gotham and without Jason running away. And there's consequences for it. Not just for the joker, not just for the bats, but for everyone.

There's a ghost in the Alley, a mass of bone and flesh shambling about in agony. And everyone knows what it once was.

The robins can't die, everyone quickly understands this. But there's something horrific of seeing the result of someone trying to do so. From something ripping one of them apart with metal and fire and scorching flesh away until it has to use whatever meat it can reach to rebuild itself.

845. You read that correctly. Several proper drabbles and at least two co-authored fics, including the Mansion House Murder Hotel round robin.

2. What's your total A03 words count?

1,453,769. Again, that includes some co-written fic I am not inclined to parse for my exact count.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Mercy Street, Foyle's War, Shadow and Bone, Poldark, A Discovery of Witches, Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, The Last of Us, GLOW, Downton Abbey, Frozen, James Bond, Star Wars, The Hour, Ted Lasso, Sanditon, Dune, Leap/Ballerina, Brooklyn 99, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Gilmore Girls, Far From The Madding Crowd, Emma, Betsy-Tacy, and a few others.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do. At a bare minimum, I try to thank the commenter for taking the time to read. In the halcyon days of Mercy Street, I wrote long, discursive essay-comments because that was our vibe. I am not always prompt, but I do try to get back to people, though sometimes if the comment is very thoughtful, it takes me a while because I want to give an equivalent response.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably "Because I could not stop for Death," a Mercy Street fic where I wrote vignettes where I killed someone in each of the 18 installments, though I did end the whole thing killing the agreed-upon most loathsome character. I don't tend to write fics with angsty endings, though I don't mind writing it midway.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

This is tough, because I mostly write HEA. I'm going to pick a relatively deep cut and say "Always a Bridesmaid," the Mercy Street modern au rom-com, since the whole thing is a fairly giddy romp.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

A little. I've received 1-2 negative comments on AO3 and once wrote a gift-fic for someone in the Reylo fandom and got attacked on what was then Twitter and Tumblr by fans of the writer I was gifting, even though I had offered to the writer to take the story down. I now only write gift-fic for people I have some relationship with.

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Yes. It's full of consent, sometimes awkward (who else has written crappy postpartum sex on Tumblr? I may be the cheese standing alone on that one) and almost never results in an unplanned pregnancy as a plot device. I most write cis-het and strenuously avoid using any term for a penis that isn't dick or cock. No straining members (sounds like a bunch of constipated middle management.)

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

OMG, yes! I love crossovers, so this is tough to answer. I'll go with a more recent one, "the better part of valor," Mercy Street/The Last of Us, though I have also used Sesame Street as an AU frame for Mercy Street characters.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of! (Ditto to @tortoisesshells)

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Maybe 1? I don't get a lot of offers and feel a bit proprietary, since I can't read it to see how well it's translated.

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

You betcha! Shout-out to the Mansion House Murder Party and "We run a very tight ship" the Cruise Ship crack-fest that @fericita-s and @sagiow and I boarded during a phase of the lockdown.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

I guess I'd have to say Mary Phinney/Jed Foster based on the number of fanfics I've written for them, but I don't really play favorites. I have a real fondness for every pairing I write, including the ones with the OC characters I write for @tessa-quayle.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Maybe this will change the course of history, but "what it means to be a thin crescent moon" is sort of hanging out there. I have some ideas for how to wrap it up but need the time and the mojo, which is harder to come by. I'd also like to get back to my zombie road-trip GLOW AU "Music shall untune the sky" but it's tough because that would be purely for me at this point.

16. What are your writing strengths?

(I hope) Witty banter. Strong female characters who have flaws. Description with plenty of sensory details. Use of quotations, math, and chess gambits :) A pithy drabble.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I find plot the least interesting component of writing fanfic and I think it shows. I love to read long-fic, but I struggle to sustain it. The words "so" and "just."

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I mostly stick to endearments or short phrases. I'm not fluent in any other language and no one needs to discover the various ways Google Translate has let me down.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Mercy Street. I started writing late at night after a work conference, literally drifting in and out of consciousness to lower my inhibitions enough to get started. It was a fic related to a WIP I loved and had written to the author about, so it was very relational.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

What is this, Sophie's Choice? I can't pick a favorite. I'll say I look back with great fondness on my Little Women/Mercy Street crossover "What thou and I did, till we loved," which features Marmee and the Star Trek Kobiyashi Maru Mercy Street crossover "It had the virtue of never having been tried," because like I said, I do love a crossover! Honestly, when there are over 800 fic, I'll admit to have forgotten I'd written some of these :)

Episode 1: 3/10. will beat you up and steal your shit if you're a douchebag, but probably won't do anything worse than a few stress bites.

Episode 2: 5/10. for himself? no. for Daniel? well...he'll keep it on the table, at least, if you'll excuse the pun. times are rough and a good cook needs to get creative.

Episode 3: 1/10. the munchies aren't that bad. besides, rn he's much more concerned about the entirety of Camp Half-Weed (drug dealers and little brothers included) being extremely desperate to fuck him.

Episode 4: 12/10. he'll eat your liver, he'll eat your heart, he'll eat your bones, he'll eat every one of your goddamn chock-o-crisps. he needs the calories and he's concussed/dehydrated enough he could easily believe you're just a talking sandwich.

Episode 5: 8/10. He might very well end up needing a snack for the road if you get in his way too long. do you want to get in his way? I don't think you want to get in his way.
