For artists, storytellers, or just fans -
I don't design games, but I find some of this very useful as a creator of various other stripes.
youtube
In addition to some more technical matters, this talk goes into the thematic focus of the game, into Guerrilla Games' approach to creating the various people groups of Horizon Zero Dawn, and into principles of collaboratively creative workflow. There's also a lot of concept art, including npc costumes from different tribes.
This might especially be useful to fanfic writers who want new insights or ways of thinking about Horizon's themes and tribes!

Living in the Apple Ecosystem
For years, Apple has been synonymous with innovation, sleek design, and a user experience that’s second to none. As someone who’s grown to appreciate tech that not only works but works effortlessly, I’ve found myself deeply embedded in the Apple ecosystem. It wasn’t planned—it just happened, bit by polished aluminium bit.
Let’s take a stroll through my collection. It all starts with my iPhone 16 Pro, a marvel of modern engineering. The titanium finish feels premium, the 1TB storage means I’ll never run out of space, and the Dynamic Island feature? A game-changer for multitasking. It’s my pocket-sized powerhouse that I can’t imagine life without.
Then there’s the Apple Watch Ultra 2, the ultimate companion. It tracks my fitness, keeps me connected, and even has a battery life that can survive my busiest days. The black titanium design adds a touch of rugged elegance, making it my constant wrist buddy.
On the audio front, my AirPods Max have transformed how I consume media. Whether it’s blocking out distractions with Active Noise Cancellation or indulging in Spatial Audio for a truly immersive experience, they’re indispensable for productivity and relaxation alike.
For heavy-duty tasks, my MacBook Pro steps in. It’s not just a laptop; it’s my creative workstation, my writing hub, and my multitasking beast. Paired with the iPad Pro, which serves as my digital sketchpad, second screen, and mobile productivity tool, these two are the perfect duo for any endeavor. The seamless continuity between them—thanks to features like Universal Control and AirDrop—is a testament to Apple’s genius.
The best part of this ecosystem is how effortlessly everything connects. Need to transfer files? AirDrop. Want to copy something on one device and paste it on another? Universal Clipboard has my back. Notifications and calls? They appear on every device, so I’m always in the loop. It’s a tech symphony, and I’m the delighted conductor.
Now that I think about it, there’s just one thing missing to complete the set: the HomePod mini. Once Siri gets a much-needed update to make her smarter and more intuitive,(Yes I am looking at you Apple Intelligence)  I’ll likely make the leap.
After all, a smart home deserves a smart speaker, and nothing fits the bill better than an Apple product. Until then, I’ll continue enjoying my Apple wonderland—one seamless experience at a time.
What’s your favourite part of the Apple ecosystem? Let me know in the comments below!

💌📫 When you write, do you plan out the stages of a relationship, or just let it flow? Do you have any works where the characters seem to "write themselves"?
OOOOH Cocoa!! tysm for this question!! i love questions like this!!!
I sort of plan out the bones of it but then let it flow for when im trying to link together one plot point to the next. i take inspo from some things or canon character behaviors, but i try to keep it semi-organized with plot points and flesh them out when i get to them.
If any of that makes sense 😅
One work that I definitely feel like the characters write themselves is in All Tied Up. I'm trying a different method with those two lovebirds (like totally not planning out a reader POV of the same timeline oops) and every time i sit down to spend some time on them they just seem to take on a mind of their own. I love it.

Spring Cleaning Your Art Business 2025: Essential Art Business Organization Tips
okay so we've been absolutely DROWNING in the business side of our art practice lately and honestly? we thought we were the only ones struggling with this chaos 😅
turns out we're definitely not alone in this mess
after months of literally losing client files (embarrassing but true) and forgetting to send invoices because our "system" was basically sticky notes everywhere, we decided to get our act together
and wow... the difference is honestly wild
here's what we've figured out so far on this whole "getting organized" journey:
the file naming thing is REAL - we used to have like 47 versions of the same piece with names like "untitled-1-copy-final-ACTUAL-final.psd" (why are we like this???) now we're doing "ClientName_ProjectType_Version_Date" and it's genuinely life-changing
our studio zones are everything - we carved out specific areas for different types of work and suddenly we're not spending 20 minutes looking for scissors every time we need to package something. who knew being intentional about space could be so powerful?
the quarterly planning hit different - instead of that constant feast-or-famine panic, we're actually mapping out our busy seasons and planning ahead. revolutionary concept, we know 🙃
client management templates saved our sanity - no more "wait what did we agree on again?" moments because everything is documented from the start
the whole "creative chaos fuels creativity" thing? honestly we're calling bs on that now. our brains have so much more space for actual creative problem-solving when we're not constantly stressed about the admin stuff
we're still figuring this out (like, we literally just started using a real invoicing system last month instead of our chaotic email method) but sharing what's working in case anyone else is in the same boat
the art world doesn't really teach us this stuff, so we're all just out here trying to figure it out together, right?
drop a comment if you're also trying to get your art business organized - what's working for you? what's still a complete disaster? let's figure this out together because honestly, we could all use the community support 💜
we wrote up everything we've learned so far about spring cleaning our art business [link to blog post] if you want to join us on this whole "getting our creative lives together" journey
solidarity fist bump for all of us trying to make art AND run a business

//I don't want to add this rule, but this is moreso to cover all bases. I've had to include this in all my art ToS on Vgen, so it's going here as well
-
I will unfollow/block if I catch you using AI in your writing/art/icons. My stance is that Generative AI has no place in any creative space and I have zero tolerance in anyone using it.  We are here to be creative. Using Gen AI defeats the purpose of that.

If you don't agree, there is an unfollow button right there. 👋

Good students, on the other hand, constantly raise the bar for themselves
as they focus on what they haven’t learned and mastered yet. This is why high achievers who have had a taste of the vast amount of knowledge out there are likely to suffer from what psychologists call imposter syndrome, the feeling that you are not really up to the job, even though, of all people, they are (Clance and Imes 1978; Brems et al. 1994).

💻Choosing a DAW🎵
Tumblr media
The first thing to start making music from home is a laptop, a pair of headphones or speakers and choosing a Digital Audio Workstation, more commonly known as a DAW. A DAW is a very powerful piece of software that will allow you to compose, record, edit, shape and produce audio.
Some of the most popular DAWs used in the music industry include ProTools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, among others. While you will need a paid license for these, all of them offer free trials for you to experiment with them and find out if they are a right fit for you. If you do not have the money for one of these, no worries! There are free alternatives that work just as well and will help you get started making music such as Reaper and GarageBand.
It is important to remember that you shouldn’t choose a DAW because it’s the most popular or most expensive, instead, choose the one that feels natural and intuitive to you and has the tools you will need, as this will make the process of making music much easier and more enjoyable.
