Rewatching Switched At Birth AGAIN.

One really frustrating thing that I haven't seen many people talk about is that there are several times where it is brought up that Carlton School is struggling financially and the Kennishes witness them lose programs and the school itself almost close, but yet NOT ONCE do they offer to donate money to the school BOTH THEIR DAUGHTERS GO TO.

John gets so upset when they cut the basketball team but then a few episodes later complains about how much money he gives to Buckner sports or whatever. Like DUDE ARE YOU DENSE??? You have one child still attending the rich white people school and he gives exactly zero fucks about going there so what are you even giving them the money for?

And Bay remarks that Kathryn could fund raise $5,000 out of mission hills in minutes but yet she never thinks to fund raise for Carlton? Even when she is literally at the school fighting to keep the play going? Not once does this ever occur to her??

I know it is mentioned in the episode where Daphne talks to the school board that the board is just full of bigots who only give money to the schools they favor but the Kennishes had so much power and could have done so much but they didn't and it makes me so upset.

To be fair, I guess we wouldn't have had the occupy carlton storyline if they had helped and that storyline was SO important for Deaf representation and raising awareness for how Deaf people are treated in the educational system.

But still. John and Kathryn suck for being rich and not using it to help Carlton.

I so wish I kept wish ASL back in high school but even then (cuz of this show!!) I learned some but not enough to talk with it.. I can kinda tell signs but not enough to know know. Sigh need an app like Duolingo but for ASL.. all the ones I find aren’t free after one or two lessons. Or just aren’t helpful. I used to use lifeprint but I like how Duolingo is laid out more like ‘game’ lessons to help idk.

Shortly after Daphne Abdela was born, her parents both tragically died and she was placed up for adoption. She was soon adopted by an extremely wealthy couple: Angelo, a food company executive, and Catherine, a French-born model. The young family lived in a lavish apartment adjacent to Central Park in New York City. They went on extravagant vacations and Daphne was enrolled in the most affluent school. She had everything she could have possibly wanted in life. Nevertheless, it wasn’t enough.

“She was always looking for attention, and she didn’t get along with her parents,” recollected one of her friends. “I guess she didn’t feel loved. Her parents did love her, but she messed up.” A number of other friends said that as soon as Daphne became a teenager, she wouldn’t be seen without a bottle of liquor in her hand. “She’ll start arguing with someone just walking down the street, then expect her friends to back her up,” said another friend named Larry.

For several years, Daphne had gone off the rails. She was a rebellious teenager that spent most her time in a drunken stupor. Despite the fact they gave her everything she desired, Daphne developed a hatred of her parents. In fact, her parents were terrified of her.

At the age of 15, Daphne started dating 15-year-old altar boy, Christopher Vasquez. It was an odd pairing. Christopher was religious, quiet and neatly dressed. His neighbours recollected that he often tried to find homes for stray dogs and he was very punctual when it came to school. However, after pairing up with Daphne, Christopher too followed suit in the downward spiral. Soon, the couple took to hanging out in Central Park at night, drunk.

“I’m going to kill someone tonight,” Daphne bragged to her friends on the 22nd of May, 1997. That evening, she and Cristopher made their way to their usual haunt, Central Park...

I figured it out. Daphne is the way she is because she's an only child, well she was raised like one. She only knows how to take and not share. That's why she reacts so negatively to Bay hanging out with Regina, or Emmett. I want to put Ty name down because her and Regina are like he's family but on the real they did not care about that man.

They never call Daphne out for acting like a spoiled brat.. well like Toby that one time
