Maybe this is the result of me not being a longtime player, but there's a great deal about the Date family that never quite adds up to me.

Terumune in particular is an enigma. He's seen so rarely that it's hard to get a real grasp of his relationships with his wife and children. Has he come to love Yoshihime, I wonder, or does he merely respect her role as his wife and the mother of their children?

And how much did he know about Yoshihime's abuse of Masamune? Her contempt for her eldest child appears to have been open and unrestrained. It's not clear to me that Terumune ever attempted to put a stop to it. Did he see it as a necessary toughening up, or as simply out of his hands?

One of the neatest things I've learned from my latest round of research ahead of putting together a new Unseen Japan article is that in the Edo period, you'd know the Date daimyo's procession on sight, from a distance. It was the one daimyo procession allowed to keep their guns live during sankin-kōtai. So, they'd be trailing matchlock smoke.

Sengoku Basara OC Katakura Kita

Since most of Kita's shading was done, I decided to finally finish her and I can finally start working on drawing other people's ocs. 💙

Katakura Kojuro's older sister, before becoming a mentor figure to Masamune, she was at one point one of Oshu's most dangerous women which resulted in her attracting the attention of the Toyotomi whom she despises.

While she taught her younger brother on how to fight and ofc leadership skills, Later on in life after Takenaka Hanbei had her younger brother abducted, and after he escaped, Kita wanted Hanbei to pay with his life.

Even though Kita wanted to kill Hanbei, the fight ended in Kita walking away as she felt that Hanbei was just Hideyoshi's dynastic tool.

She refers to her younger brother as "Kagetsuna" his childhood name as "Kojuro" is more of a title passed down in the family.

Her color palette I must say is heavily based on blue and white Chinese pottery while her armor is based on mosaic art. I am planning on mastering drawing and coloring armor even if it maybe time consuming.

Her weapons are a pair of trishulas which are often seen in various artworks in Statues in Thailand, India, Japan, and various places in South Asia.

But in my fanon, Kita's weapons and movesets are heavily inspired Sendan Kendatsuba weilding a trishula in the 5 paintings known as "The Extermination Of Evil" (not entirely tho I promise) which was painted by an unknown artist during the Heian period when Emperor Go-Shirakawa was in power.

This post maybe updated as I cannot remember what I have in store for her.

Nie Huaisang at ten isn't that jarring, even considering the adult version he left behind, because he's pretty much exactly as Jiang Cheng remembers him.

Seeing Nie Mingjue at thirteen as a sullen child instead of the looming specter of his memories takes some adjusting.

Nie Haoyu wouldn't take no for an answer and it hadn't helped that A-Ying had been thrilled at the invitation and immediately started peppering the Nies with question that they'd answered in good humor the whole way back. Nie Haoyu seems delighted with A-Ying, finding him amusing and impressive and complimenting Jiang Cheng several times on raising such an impressive son.

He just glares back but Nie Haoyu's good humor is unaffected. His memory of the clan leader is spotty at best and he's coming to the slow and horrifying realization that it was Nie Huaisang and not Nie Mingjue that got his personality from their father.

Joining a clan is probably good for them, long term, and the Nies are the only other tolerable major clan, not that he'd ever expected to get practically kidnapped by them.

The only problem is that Nie Haoyu is going to be dead in two years time and if he wants A-Ying and the Nie siblings to have some semblance of a normal childhood, he's going to have to. Do something about that.

listen i just don't think that leafpool should get heaven married with a guy from a very brief fling she had as a young adult (the consequences of which ruined her entire life) that treats her poorly in most of their interactions, would not defend her when their relationship came to light, and is shown to be a shitty husband and neglectful father in his relationship afterwards. but idk this is still going to happen when crowfeather dies anyways and the only potential conflict in this happening whatsoever is going to be feathertail being offhandedly mentioned to be petty and jealous about it or something. because warrior cats can't let a woman win and especially cannot let leafpool win

It's my habit to take the Watsonian perspective on SLBP, rather than the Doylist one, and so --

I do often wonder why it is that Shigezane was ultimately passed over for the Date clan succession, since some stories imply he was at least strongly considered for the role. Leadership seems to come more easily to him than it does his cousin, despite the latter clearly being prepared for it, and he has a natural gift for public relations.

Perhaps it simply comes down to Terumune having favored his own son. But I'm sort of curious anyway.

I could talk about all the reasons I ship sangcheng until the cows come home, but I'd only be repeating what other people have said. There is one reason that I haven't ever seen mentioned but it's one of my favourite bonuses of them being shipped; symmetry.

Consider that two of those brothers are involved with two of the yunmeng trio.

Consider the perfection, the neatness, the ridiculous fic potential of each of the yunmeng trio dating a brother of one of the 3zun.

What puts Diluc at a higher difficulty than most is his reclusion from others. While Diluc treats his workers with gratitude and respect, well… it’s safe to say that he doesn’t exactly have the most friends. Those that know him well that it’s not due to his personality, but because of personal choice. Thus, if there’s anything that you need to be to win this man’s heart, it’s persistence. Even when he pushes you away, you will need to stand your ground and enforce yourself as a constant in his life, as a friend. Once you’re able to get past that first hurdle, the path to his heart really will not be too far away.
