#Do people even like loki anymore or nah?

Thor and Loki would fuck in reality because they have. The fact is that only Thor and Loki have worked out like ever.. Who would they be with anyway? They get bored and move on after their plenty of relationships but with each other? Nah. I'm talking about comics too. That anon can go and fuck themselves. There are people who are harassing Thorkis in here, be careful.
I know, right? They totally would. Nobody comes close to loving them as they do. Nobody!
And yeah, there are some assholes out there harassing people but I haven't even posted anything Thorki related in like a year or something so I don't get it like why now? My profile pic isn't even Thorki themed anymore, Christ! People are crazy, but what else is new?

I feel so odd as far as liking Loki goes because I like him as a villain so I don’t fit with his fans who collectively woobify him. No he was definitely a bad guy.
Tumblr media
This is just me yelling into the void about shit I used to care about- more under the cut
Do I think Loki made up for killing a bunch of people by admitting he loved his brother? Nah! Is possible for villains to change their point of view? Yes! Loki couldn't redeem himself for the things he did in Avengers I think he just changed his mind on who he wanted to be.
Loki isn’t even the first bad guy to rethink his choices it’s pretty common. I wouldn’t classify him as a hero or a anti-hero though. IDK what to call him really. More like he just went “oh yeah that was wild LOL let me not do that anymore.” That’s honestly fine. I think it’s a unique and unintentionally funny character arc.
Taika deciding to humiliate the character to boost up Thor’s popularity was unnecessary IMO. Loki just has a character archetype people gravitate towards. Emo, violent, daddy issues, no friends, whoa is me, (black hair? LOL?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They will always get people trying to make excuses for them it is what it is. And I do think these characters do add to the story even if I think fandoms babying them is lame and weird.
I feel like what Aang and T'challa have over Stefan and Thor is their writing. I feel like Stefan wasn't different enough from Damon to earn his " good brother" label and it felt like gaslighting every time it was pushed by the narrative. He was a whole serial killer??? With Thor it always felt like the writers weren't that interested in trying to flesh him out. His personality changes depending on what movie he's in. It's unfortunate because Chris is really charming and Thor has plenty of fans. I blame the messy inconsistency.
Marvel leaned into how funny Chris is but couldn’t decide if Thor was a joke or not. They couldn't find the balance and I think that hurt his character, not Loki.
Loki isn’t doing great character-wise now anyway. He was a side character on his show and no longer feels powerful enough to really do anything that matters. They are both down bad IMO.
Wow I haven’t rambled about anything to do with Marvel in years. Just feel like the ball was dropped with every character in Thor’s story. You find yourself needing to ruin one character to prop another one up then you're a bad writer. All your characters should be good.

also when I feel better I may bring some more verses or specify more fandoms for marvel shows because I've been catching up (I love Loki and Mobius a normal amount), and add more background stories for old/rare fandoms so I can jump in if I see anyone playing in them (I want a more specific firefly one) and also I want to make my historical Emma closed to all fandoms except a few exceptions, because apart from a few shows I know, like Turn (and I'm talking about only the main characters, I'm not exactly inspired by the less present/minor ones), the Bridgerton-universe (all tvshow characters, focusing more on the whimsical true love and cliches side of it), Downton Abbey and Mrs Maisel, I don't love writing Emma in the real past, since at some point Emma just stops being Emma if I'm bound by realistic limitations and I prefer shows where basically we go 'sure, why not' about every implausible thing (an example, if someone were to write the Black Widow as herself in the past there'd be complaints about 'but women don't know how to do that/can't win against a bunch of men even if trained', nah, you lose the character if you don't bend reality a little, and I want to write Emma, she's ALWAYS Emma), and anyway I prefer wacky or reality-bending shows set in our time OR fantasy-ish history (look at Pirates of the Caribbeans) to anything real, and sitcoms and dramas are also fine because they both stretch reality like hell
So yeah, I need to think, when my headache is gone, about what I actually want to write, in what universes, time periods, fandoms. Ever since my ptsd got worse many types of characters and many types of threads just aren't fun anymore, which is why I don't write them as a rule (see hostility, unless plotted between characters who know each other and will get through it, because if your character isn't even a little friendly and I'm forced to bend Emma over backwards to make her stay it will literally trigger my anger), but writing helps me relax and I should fix the rules, make 'wanted interactions' and then STICK TO THEM, and if people don't write with me because they don't want to read a lot then it's fine, better than me writing what I don't feel like writing (but still, I'm like 'if this person is writing a popular canon character what is their motivation to read a long-ass about page for an oc?' so I understand why they wouldn't)

My thoughts on the LOKI series
Yall can scream “it’s so in character of Loki to fall in love with himself” all you want but I will still believe he was out of character the entire season. This man was literally suicidal not long ago now he’s acting like some love sick puppy over another version of himself. The way he fell for her was waaay too quick and the fact that it’s completely one sided has me wondering why on earth marvel even bothered.
They said this series would really be about self love, they were doing a good job at it for a while. In episode 1-3 I felt like Loki was definitely getting some character development and beginning to journey down the path of self love and forgiveness.
This is one of my main problems with Sylki because as soon as it was really introduced that all completely shifted. The story was no long centred around Loki and his journey in self love but instead was some selfcest romance story.
This is so harmful and I don’t get how people don’t see it because all it did was completely scratch away all his character development and enforce the idea that Loki is incapable of loving anyone but himself or “another version of himself”. This IS NOT SELFLOVE.
Even if Marvel did want to say that Loki loving Sylvie was a version of self love them completely stripping Sylvie’s character of all the things that fundamentally make her a Loki just so that it doesn’t feel weird to ship makes it so that it doesn’t even feel like self Love because they’re trying so hard to make her not a Loki.
Yet they contradict themselves by constantly feeling the need to remind the audience that they indeed are the same person and shipping them is weird whilst continuing to show them romantically. Including scenes like Mobius calling the relationship out for being “sick” and “twisted” or Sylvie telling Loki that “they’re the same” and Kang purposely calling Sylvie Loki just to highlight that they’re the same person and calling the relationship “unnatural” makes no sense to me if Marvel act wants us to enjoy this ship. Like make up your mind do you enjoy selfcest or not Marvel? Because it feels like one minute their otp and the next you like NOPE.
A romance was not necessary at all this season and while I do ship Lokius I didn’t even want that to become an actual thing this season because it’s just too fast. Especially with Sylvie and Loki’s relationship they’re was no need to make it romantic.
It would have felt much more impactful had Loki either 1.) Fell in love with someone who wasn’t himself.
2.) Had a relationship with Sylvie that actually revolved around self love.
3.) Fell in love with the person he actually originally had a bond with in the series and who ACTUALLY helped him along his journey for self love and forgiveness. Not the person who he met halfway through the series. Cough Mobius Cough.
Let’s not even go into the lack of actual Genderfluid representation and Bisexual representation. I’m neither so I don’t feel like I’m the right person the go in depth but a few things that really annoyed me are
1.) Loki is Bisexual that means he’s attracted to BOTH men and women so why do we only see his attraction towards women in the entire show (Canonically) even the flight attendant, they could have easily made her a man but nah let just show him flirting with yet another woman. ONE AMBIGUOUS LINE is not enough to claim that a character is bisexual
2.) Loki never actually getting to be genderfluid in the series and then treating all Loki’s like they’re cisgender when they’re not. (You can come at me and say the fluid on the file was just stating he could shapeshift but Kate Herron and Tom Hiddleston confirmed that Loki is actually genderfluid yet we got no representation of this.)
3.)Them saying that it seems“terrifying” that there would be a Female Loki when they’re literally meant to be genderfluid was so unnecessary and as someone who isn’t even genderfluid it deeply upset me.
The actual kiss to me felt like it was only a manipulation tactic on Sylvies part. It wasn’t romantic she was just using him. If you look back you can see that Sylvie never actually showed any signs of returning feelings for Loki. The fact that she never trusted Loki doesn’t seem like the best way to build a relationship.
Now it honestly feels like Loki is right back where he started but worse cuz he’ll probably not be able trust easily anymore. It feels almost like they only used his character so that they could introduce the multiverse and I feel like there’s way better ways they could have gone about that.
Edit: I wrote this in a sleep deprived state so I had to edit it there to make it make more sense. I also wanted to include that overall I actually did enjoy this series I definitely didn’t hate it. I just believe that they didn’t do Loki’s character justice. I really enjoyed a lot of scenes and the acting in it was OUTSTANDING. I’m looking forward to see what season 2 brings and hopefully they’ll take a different approach with certain things.
No one has to agree with any of the points I stated here. This is literally just my sleep deprived rant so I really hope I don’t get a bunch of hate comments on why I’m an idiot and this is all totally wrong. This isn’t meant to offend people it’s MY opinion. Thank you.

Wait...ATLA AU with Waterbender!Loki, and FireNation!Asgard. Mayhaps the spirits are more relevant in this AU, so people especially blessed by non-main/non-elemental spirits (so anyone other than La, Tui, Agni, uhhh Guain and Shu are the earth kingdom ones I think, and The Autumn Lord or air) can have some manipulation of Qi, but it works differently and is very, very rare, depending on the power level of the spirit, a bending blessing can last 1 generation without renewing it through more bending blood, or like 20 generations but it skips a few. So you can have Non-bender (but actually water bender Loki), or Insert Cannon Spirt that can give him some shape shifting blessed and maybe still Water bender but figures that that out waay later Loki. This ask is a little bit of a mess, but just Water Tribe Loki (who’s stuffed full of ‘water Tribe’s are barbaric’ propaganda) Living in Fire Nation Asgard.
because Loki, like me, simply must be the center of the universe:
- Asgard is the fire nation, obviously, and Odin has 3 kids: the fire-bending lightning-bending prodigy daughter, the spare fire-bender who is good but not as good who will strive to do what his father asks because Father simply must be right (even if he’ll realize later and switch sides), the non-bender who is the dishonorable family disgrace who freaks out and makes a run from home when he realizes he can water bend and neither of his parents can and realizes he was adopted? stolen?? and is maybe the avatar and oh frick Odin’s razing the other nations trying to find the avatar and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- The “air nation” can be four temples/realms (svartalfheim, alfheim, vanaheim, muspelheim) which were wiped out on by the last Sozin’s comet, so the cycle moved on to the water nation (southern water tribe/jotunheim) (northern water tribe/nifleheim) and there ain’t no way he’s going there those people are barbaric monsters... aren’t they?
- he joins a Midgardian (earth-kingdom) circus road-trip that’s touring across the realms (yes, he juggles) that’s actually just the Avengers and maybe they’re all non-benders? maybe some of them are? None of them are too flashy but Loki’s trying to observe the mix of bending styles and pick up on bending techniques without making it too obvious that he’s not a non-bender
- cue Loki getting in touch with the Earth spirit and getting some neat blessing gifts with bending and now he can Earth bend too and suddenly BAM Thor attacks the circus and Loki water bends to defend his circus friends from his fire and they make eye contact and Loki is so scared/devastated at having to go up against Thor who is angry at Loki for leaving home and has been tasked to retrieve Loki - the water bending throws Thor off and in his confusion Loki freezes him to the ground and apologizes and runs for it.
- now the circus folks are all “um, dude??? the prince of the fire nation just attacked us and you didn’t tell us you could bend?? what’s up with that???” so he tells them he may or may not be Fire Nation Prince Loki and they all feel betrayed because “those colonialist jerks??” but Loki explains how he’s actually a water bender... and may also be an earth bender... and they’re all totally on-board with the avatar returning because it’s about time and the earth kingdom is on thin ice with them (ba sing se is Svartalfheim btw) and yes the reason we’re a mix of benders is because this circus is actually the white lotus the avengers and were touring the realms to low-key try finding the avatar who is supposed to be the saving grace and end of this war please
- now the circus folks are helping Loki meet all the other nation spirits (yes they venture into the terrifying Jotunheim and Nifleheim while searching for the spirit (”what do you mean you don’t know where the spirit is?? how’d you find the last ones??” “I only met one!! and it came to me!!” “well I guess we’re stuck searching everywhere in this frozen wasteland then”) and additionally he only gets to meet the spirit who grants him the bending after he accepts parts of himself and others (for example, the water bending was a result of him finally realizing that he didn’t stand a chance at the throne and it wasn’t until every shred of hope that Odin could one day be proud of him was gone that he was messing with the turtleduck pool and maybe saw the water spirit in the reflection and bent water) (the earth spirit comes to him when he accepts that there are people that will still be proud of him and he can move on with life because the circus folk like him for who he is and were excited when he successfully landed a bunch of throwing knives on targets and decided on that as an act he can do)
- The circus folk are also trying to teach Loki what little they know about bending btw since he’s admitted to copying and mixing their techniques together (he does all the bending in one style and yes it’s as chaotic for the opponent as that sounds because you can never tell what he’s going to bend) but there 100% has to be an episode where he steals the water-scroll
- Thor chases them down and Loki can bend water now?? and he’s just trying to bring Loki back like Odin asked him too and then one time he catches up to them and Loki panics and bends Earth too and Thor realizes and stops fighting and tells Loki to just go. Thor goes back to the Fire Nation and argues with Odin and calls him out because Loki is the avatar?? he’s from the water tribe?? and he feels betrayed and does the Zuko-Ozai-Black-Sun-Speech-Without-The-Black-Sun about how neither Loki nor Thor need to prove themselves and he won’t tear this family apart any further (Frigga is in fact an absent mother here btw) and then Thor goes and chases Loki down over weeks and saves him (blue mask hero?? except... feathered-helmet hero??) from Fire Nation soldiers who got their hands on him and the circus folk are NOT happy to have him around (air bending comes to Loki when he finally forgives Thor for being an arrogant self-righteous meanie to him for years because Hela is attacking them now and this is so much worse and Thor gets his eye burnt by Hela and Bruce isn’t that good but he can water-bend and heal a bit so it’s not too bad and he takes a moment to breathe and goes for a walk and BAM air spirit)
- they get attacked a few more times, loki tries getting over the trauma that is realizing the harm that the fire nation has done to all the other realms (and thor is learning this too by the way so when hela attacks you bet they try mentioning the damage and loss of culture the fire nation is resposible for even if she doesn’t care because she’s the heir she needs to be perfect because her two brothers weren’t and look what happened to them they were exiled and live with a blasphemous blend of peasants (and rich-kid-metal-bending-earth-nation-runaway-royalty tony (”WHAT?! SO THAT’S WHERE YOU GET THE MONEY?? I thought you were scamming people not selling cool metal toys and what are we doing that attracts all these royal snobs to us??”))
- Loki has a dream where the fire spirit tells him to keep searching and then one day Hela goes to burn Thor again and Loki just goes ahead and fire bends right back at her and hoo boy his fire isn’t blue but it sure is a lot and Thor does the “........YES!!!” thing and Hela gets stuck in a ring of fire while everyone else laughs and leaves and she can’t lose so watch as her “close friends” end up not being ty lee and mai but the valkyries (the kyoshi warriors are the Red Room Assassins in this AU and no it’s not a childhood torture house it’s just a mostly-women midgardian protection group (maybe Nat trained there so if the circus ever bumps into them she’ll know them? Jane should get to be one of them too even if she’s more into inventing... she and tony should Talk... maybe she and Pepper can beat him up and give him some Respect Women Juice the same way Sokka got his?))
- epic chase across the realms since Loki can bend all the elements now he just needs to figure out how the Avatar state works but until then the gaang is struggling to stay ahead of the Valkyries and get Loki trained up to take down Odin (Thor teaches Loki fire bending so that’s covered but no one else except Tony who is a metal-bending expert really learnt properly and Loki isn’t even a metal-bender)
- eventually Hela snaps from all the losses and as she becomes more unhinged Brun jumps sides and Hela kills off (or fires, if we’re staying PG) the rest of the Valkyries and now Brun is super guilty but she’s fighting to avenge them now
- blah blah blah Sozin’s comet day and Loki goes up against Odin with the help of the Avengers (maybe Thor can take down Hela with the help of Brun and Nat?) etc. etc.
- so anyways Loki takes Odin’s fire bending and that was the first time he’s entered the Avatar state and when everyone asks how it felt Loki goes “oh i’m not the avatar”
- “you’re WHAT” “not it” “but you JUST went into the avatar state and everything” “yeah and kyoshi gives good head pats but I’m not it” “but-- you mastered ALL THE ELEMENTS?!” “yeah because I was gifted them by the spirits” “but you needed to renew the cycle after it was gone from the world for so long--” “nah I think the spirits just liked me and wanted me to have it” “they... just... like... you...??” “yeah” “so you actually ARE a non-bender Brother??” “oh yeah definitely I was, but not anymore :)” “so you ARE the avatar”
- [twenty minutes later] “I just went into the avatar state and they just told me i’m not it” “...this happened while you were in the avatar state though???” *shrugs* “eh” “don’t SHRUG this off is there an actual avatar out there or no???” “maybe the real avatar was the friends we made along the way” “shouldn’t we go find them???” *cue everyone setting out on another grand quest to find the ~actual~ Avatar*

Chapter 4
Pairing: Loki x reader Series Summary: Washing up in a small town in Oklahoma was definitely not part of Loki’s plan when he came to conquer Midgard. There is one good thing about it, though: No one recognizes him as the one who just wreaked havoc in New York. So, Loki plans to recover from the battle and move on with his life. The only problem? He’s not sure he can leave you. Chapter Summary: Loki continues to struggle with his emotions as he tries to figure out his bond with you. On top of all that stress, he finally learns what the rest of the world is hearing about New York. Chapter Warnings: long, angsty, and fluffy A/N: Woohoo! Fourth chapter is here! Totaling almost 5,000 words, the longest thing I have written to date. Any comments, questions, or predictions? I’d love to hear them and chat with you! Well, guys, gals, and non-binary pals, hope you enjoy :) Updates every Friday.

Loki hadn’t slept well in days. Between nightmares and dreams of you, his mind was a constant hub of activity. He didn’t need as much sleep as you mortals did, but after the whole ordeal with Thanos, the lack of rest was taking a toll on him. You were the first to notice, and started hovering even more than normal, something Loki was reluctant to admit he liked. In his final days on Asgard, he’d made himself a complete loner, going so far as to isolate himself from Frigga. It was nice to have some companionship again. That was as far as Loki ever let his mind wander, though, cutting himself off before he could deeper analyze the constant pull he felt toward you. Certainly there wasn’t even anything else to analyze anyway, he convinced himself. You were, after all, only human.
Before he could get lost in thought again, Loki refocused on Matt’s caramel blonde hair as he chased him between the barn and the house. The boy’s light curls were the only thing he’d inherited from his father and looked almost exactly like Ana otherwise. It made Loki wonder how he never guessed he was adopted, seeing as he looked nothing like either of his parents. This fresh air was really starting to get to him, he decided, because he was continuously going down these deep contemplative paths in his mind. It was a constant loop of his feelings for you, his true heritage, and how he was taking advantage of your family. Then again, it may have been the traumatic, near-death experiences and hours of torture that was doing this to him. That was the one thing he always liked to forget about.
“Tag, you’re it!” Loki cheered as he tapped Matt.
The challenge in this game, for Loki at least, was not to overtake Matt’s strides too quickly. It was the perfect balance of fake chasing and finding just the right moment to execute the tagging. Still, he was having almost as much fun as the child was.
“Now you’re it!” Matt declared a few minutes later when Loki let the boy catch up to him.
If there was anything to admire about the kid, it was his tireless energy. Loki was glad to have found someone to keep pace with him as far as that went. His mind, too, was kept plenty stimulated by late-night talks with you. Ever since you’d showed him the creek a few days ago, you seemed to talk into the wee hours of the morning. He’d never noticed before just how deep and intelligent mortals could be. It was quite the accomplishment that you were changing so many of his opinions in such a short time. Then he realized he was thinking of you yet again and cut off the train of thought before it could persist.
“Loki. Matt,” Ana called, waving at them from the front porch.
After scooping the boy up in his arms, Loki jogged over to where she was standing. Matt was happily transferred to his mother’s arms as he was carried into the kitchen for snack time. The God of Mischief looked out over your land, trying to give in to the feeling of contentment he was so close to achieving. If only he didn’t constantly have that voice in his head telling him he was a monster, he didn’t belong here. Maybe then he could be happy. A part of him wished he’d lost his memory for real.
“Oh, there you are,” you said, walking out of the house. “I’m heading into town if you want to come with me and see if anything jogs your memory.”
“Yes. I would like that very much.”
As the two of you made your way to the car, you repeatedly tossed and caught your keys in a nervous pattern. Loki held the door open for you as you got in and quickly hurried around to the other side. He stared at a weird strap by his seat as he sat down. You saw his look of befuddlement and couldn’t help but let out a little laugh.
“Do you not remember how to use a seatbelt?” you asked kindly as he nodded his head yes. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you came from an alien planet.”
Then you reached across his seat to buckle him in. Unfortunately, it was a bit farther than you realized, and you fell into Loki, hand splayed on his chest, his hands immediately reaching out to steady you. For a minute, the only sound in the vehicle was your pounding hearts. You cleared your throat in embarrassment as you finished your task. The air between you held a distinct awkwardness, and Loki realized that this was the first time you’d been truly alone since the creek. It sent a thrill down his spine, even as he tried to ignore his racing thoughts. Determined to look anywhere but in your direction, his eyes landed on Mama, scowling in the window. She’d made it clear that she wasn’t keen on him spending so much time with you and Matt. If he was any smarter, any braver, he would listen to her and just leave already.
“So,” you began, clearing your throat again and driving off, “how are you feeling today?”
“I am quite well, thank you. I do believe I am fully healed.”
“Promise to still take it easy, ok?”
“Alright.”
You lapsed into silence as you cruised along the road. Loki stared out the window, hoping to find some clarity in the scenery streaking by. You were a mortal, he should not have felt any sort of attachment to you. Then again, he hadn’t spent time with one since the Middle Ages. It had all been so dreadfully dull back then, but things had changed. You and your family were so exuberant, so captivating. But he was a god, and he should not concern himself with that. In fact, he should be on his way of this planet, which was maybe not so miserable, after all.
Before long, you reached town and pulled into a small parking lot of a building with a sign that said “24 Hour Convenience Store” and had many light-up neon signs, declaring they were open. You got out and Loki followed suit.
“Anything look familiar yet?” you asked. “I know you don’t live here, but maybe you passed through.”
Lying was his specialty, and it’s what he should have done now. He could hear himself in his head, his silver tongue weaving a tale about how things were coming back to him. Then he could pretend to contact someone and create an illusion, so you believed he had a happy reunion with his family. It would be prefect; he would leave and you wouldn’t worry about him. He truly wanted to believe it would perfect, anyway, but it wasn’t. Not if he never saw you again. There must be something special about you, he decided, and the Tesseract brought him here so he could figure it out. That was it. That had to be it.
“I am afraid not,” he replied. “Perhaps I came from the other way.”
“Yeah, maybe. Don’t worry, we’ll figure this out,” you comforted him with a hug, mistaking the reason for his sadness.
His body went stiff in your embrace. He hadn’t been hugged in centuries. Granted, that was in part his fault because he was afraid receiving hugs from his mother would hurt his carefully crafted image. Now here you were, holding his body against your warm frame. Once his mind cleared a bit, he awkwardly hugged you, too, and gave your back a few uncertain pats. He should not have been encouraging this behavior, but he was. Maybe if he caused some mischief he’d feel more like his old self. Or maybe he didn’t want to be that person anymore. It was all too much. He was exhausted by the incessant back and forth of his thoughts. He untangled himself from you and gestured to the store.
“After you,” he said.
You pushed open the glass doors and were greeted by the cashier as you walked in. Loki followed you to the back where the refrigerator section was, and he chivalrously held the milk that you’d come to pick up. You also grabbed some coffee grounds and then proceeded to checkout. After setting down the items on the counter, Loki turned over a chocolate bar in his hands, feeling like a child as you took it out of his hands and put it down with the other items. You grabbed a few other bars too, flashing a smile at Loki and keeping up a conversation with the clerk all the while.
“And who’s your new friend?” the cashier, whose name tag said Mr. Berkeley, asked you.
“This is Loki. He’s staying with me until... Well for a while,” you finished, not sure how much Loki felt comfortable revealing.
“Where’re you from, sonny?”
“Unfortunately, I cannot remember. It seems I had some kind of horrid accident,” Loki explained before you could fret anymore. He was very tired of being called son by people when he was a thousand years their senior, though. “I was very lucky to have found my way onto their farm.”
“Well, that’s quite a story. You should talk to the newspaper, get the word out.”
You shot an “I told you so” look at Loki to which he responded with one that said, “We’ll talk about this later.” Before either of you could say anything, though, the news came on the TV which Loki hadn’t realized was on.
“Do you have cable back?” you inquired as Loki began to panic. “It’s still out on the farm.”
“Nah. I got a satellite on the roof. Just got it set up again this morning.
You nodded along as the anchors began the next story. “New York is still reeling from damage, but the group of superheroes, going by the name of the Avengers, is leading clean-up efforts. The perpetrator has still not been caught-”
Loki discreetly turned the TV off with his powers before you could hear any more. He’d have to make sure the satellite took significant damage before leaving.
“Dang it. I just fixed that damned thing,” the cashier said.
“What was that all about?” you asked, completely bewildered by the sudden influx of information. “What happened in New York?”
“I guess you missed it in the paper last week,” Mr. Berkeley explained. “Some crazy group of aliens attacked, led by some power hungry god. Supposedly it was Thor’s brother, but they haven’t disclosed that information yet. Reckon they want to wait until he’s caught, avoid a panic.”
“Oh my god. That’s terrible! Gosh, you miss one paper,” you laughed, trying to keep the mood light.
A dark cloud passed over Loki’s features, even as Mr. Berkeley laughed along. Despite those SHIELD agents covering this up, word had still gotten out in some capacity. He had to be careful, or else he was going to get caught, and then you’d be in danger. He cursed under his breath. Your safety should be the last thing he was worrying about, and yet it was the first thought to come into his mind. A little kindness thrown his way should not make him into the mess he was. Of course, there were so many other things to like about you, too, and he kept finding more. He didn’t want to, he didn’t want any of this, but the Norns were punishing him for something. What would have happened, he wondered, if he’d listened to Thor and just held on that fateful day? If he hadn’t let go of the staff and fallen to what should have been his ultimate demise?
“Sonny, are you alright?” Mr. Berkeley asked as you laid a hand on his arm.
“Fine, but I think we should be going. I’ll meet you outside.”
He jerked away from your touch before you could do anything else and stalked outside. At least the satellite was hanging half off the roof with a huge dent in its side. He opened his door and got into the car as you unlocked it and raced over to him.
“Loki! Loki!” you called as you hurried over. “What was that? Are you ok?”
“Nothing! Nothing at all. Can’t you see I’m fine?” he snapped, struggling with the seatbelt. “I’m fine,” he whispered again.
“Hey, look at me,” you soothed, filled with compassion and placing a hand on his cheek. “Whatever it is, just let me know. I’m here for you. Talk to me.”
Loki’s eyes fluttered shut as he enjoyed the warmth from your palm. He let go of the seatbelt and took a few deep breaths, just like his mother had taught him. A part of him wanted to hang onto this anger, knowing that it might finally drive him to leave. He knew from experience, though, that acting in moments of blind rage would never lead to anything good.
“Is it New York? Did you remember something?” you gasped. “You had felt it was important in some way.”
“Perhaps,” he said after one last steadying breath. “It may have triggered something. But really, I am just a little tired. Maybe I am not as healed as I thought.”
He turned his head away and rested it against the window as your hand dejectedly fell into your lap. It’s not that he wanted to pull away, but he knew it’s what was safest for you.
“Ok then. We’ll go home.”
Loki whispered his thanks and succeeded in buckling up. He closed his eyes as the car started and a wave of emotions crashed over him. When you said home, he immediately pictured the farm. He knew he shouldn’t, but he did.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Loki holed himself up in his room for the rest of the day, working through the new information he’d learned. He pretended to be asleep when Ana came to bring him some dinner. Notably, you had not been the one taking care of him, and he cursed himself for pushing you away. He didn’t even bother trying to convince himself it was for the best; he knew it wasn’t. After so many years on his own, he finally had a friend, and he drove you away. Why he expected anything less from himself, he didn’t know.
At some point, he fell into a restless sleep. The food from last night was still on the bedside table, but it was now joined with the Snickers bar you’d bought for him yesterday. Someone had also come and tucked him in. Maybe he hadn’t lost his friend, after all. He opened the chocolate and took a bite, delighting in the sweet and nutty flavor. He polished it off, then waved a hand over the rest of the food, causing it to disappear. He wasn’t much in the mood for eating it, but didn’t want you to worry. He nearly ran into John as he walked into the hallway with the empty tray.
“There you are!” John exclaimed. “We were getting worried. Do you need the doctor?”
“No, I am quite alright, thank you. I think I just needed some good sleep,” Loki lied.
“Only if you’re sure. Take it easy today, though, ok?”
“That’s an order,” you said, appearing behind your brother-in-law and taking the tray from Loki. “Are you hungry? You missed breakfast, but I can heat up some leftovers from you.”
“I am fine,” Loki began, but noticed you frown. “Though, I suppose I could do with a small breakfast.”
“Great!” you said a little too brightly. “I’ll meet you down there.”
“Loki, can I talk to you for a minute?” John asked, pulling him aside. “What exactly happened yesterday? We heard about New York, but it seemed like there was something else bothering them.”
Loki felt a pang in his chest at the man’s words. As if the news weren’t upsetting enough, he’d been rude to you. He could only imagine how you would feel if you knew he was the one who had caused the mayhem. He wanted to pin the blame on someone else, but the blood was on his hands and he knew he had to take some responsibility. Doing that would help him change, which he recognized was absolutely necessary after all that had happened.
“I fear I may have upset them,” Loki started, shedding his old ways by telling the truth. “I was not feeling quite right, and I turned them away. Now they clearly blame themself for it. I deeply regret it, but I am not sure there is anything I can do.”
“Just talk to them. Apologize.”
Loki did his best not to look shocked, but the last time he said sorry was when his parents caught him playing tricks on Thor, and even then it was done begrudgingly. He wasn’t even sure he could make it sound sincere.
“Listen, I’ve got an idea,” John said. “We’re heading to the city today if you want to tag along. They’re off to get some gifts for Ana while I’ve got a few potential distributors to meet with. I’m sure they would be thrilled to have your company. Unless you’re not feeling well, of course.”
“No, I’m feeling fine. That is a great idea. You have my thanks, John.”
“No problem. Now, you’d better head down for breakfast before we both get in trouble,” he laughed.
With a final nod of gratitude, Loki took off down the stairs. His light footsteps went undetected as he neared the table, once again giving him the opportunity to eavesdrop on Mama’s suspicions.
“I know something else must’ve happened yesterday. You weren’t upset over nothing.”
“It’s just the New York thing,” you replied. “I’m fine. Really.”
“You tell me what that boy did right now or so help me I’ll kick him out of this house myself!”
“Mama! He didn’t do anything wrong. I get that what happened with James hurts, believe me I do, but you can’t let it run your life. You have to be able to trust others, to trust me,” you pleaded.
“How dare you drag your brother into this,” Mama shot back, her voice cracking. “How ’bout you trust my gut when it tells me that boy is trouble. I swear-”
She was cut off by Loki doubling back and thudding down the stairs, making his presence known. He’d heard more than enough of that conversation and wouldn’t allow you to feel any more hurt than you already were.
“Good morning,” he coldly said to Mama as he walked in, nostrils flaring slightly before he regained some composure. “I am not interrupting anything, am I.”
“Only our entire lives. Why don’t you go to the police, huh? And what about the missing person ad? Why haven’t we gotten that out yet? I don’t know what game your playing, but when I figure it out, believe me you’ll be sorry.”
“Fine! You want to know what I am doing here? I do not know. I have no idea why I ended up here or why I have stayed as long as I have. So when you ‘figure it out,’ by all means, please let me know.”
“Fine!” Mama shouted as she stormed off.
Loki was comforted by the fact that in his little outburst, he hadn’t technically told any lies to you. Half-truths? Most certainly, but no outright lies. Now that he was left alone with you, though, he felt embarrassed he lost his temper. He cleared his throat before speaking.
“I am sorry,” he said, not looking at you.
“Loki, you don’t have to say sorry for defending yourself. I understand.”
“That’s not what I’m apologizing for,” he confessed, now looking into your eyes. “Yesterday I was not feeling quite right, but I should not have snapped at you nor pushed you away like that. For that, you have my sincerest apologies.
“It’s really ok, it happens to everyone. I just care that you’re feeling alright.”
You stayed where you were standing, still hesitant to move toward Loki out of fear of being rejected again. So, it fell upon Loki to close the distance between you. He took your hand in his and placed a kiss to your knuckles as a light blush coated his cheeks.
“Thank you, darling. I assure you, I am feeling more than alright now.”
Whatever was about to happen between you next was cut off by the beeping of the microwave. You finished putting together his breakfast before sitting with him at the island. Though your relationship had been repaired, the conversation was still a bit choppy and awkward as you found your footing in the friendship again. John walked in just as you were cleaning up, whistling a happy tune.
“Ready to go whenever you guys are,” he said as he leaned against the doorframe.
“You’re coming?” you asked Loki, feeling worried for his health. “Are you sure you’re up for that? I can even stay behind with you if u want.”
“Please, do not change your plans on my account. I am in a great condition to go.”
You still seemed reluctant, but agreed he could come as long as he let you know the second he started feeling unwell. He conceded, and you went to fetch your jacket with the promise you’d be back in a minute. John gave Loki a thumbs up, to which he replied with a very self-assured smile, bolstered with confidence by your latest exchange.
A few minutes later you were all piling into the car, with Loki insisting you took the passenger seat and that he’d ride in the back. He was very pleased to get the seatbelt buckled on the first try, and the two of you shared a laugh at the little inside joke. His cheeks burned slightly, remembering how you’d fallen against him. Over the next few hours, you passed time by talking, laughing, and singing along to the radio. Just as you were entering the city, a troubling thought occurred to Loki; the people here had heard the news. Even if it hadn’t been officially announced that he was responsible for New York, those rumors about him had to have included a description. Sudden inspiration struck as John parked the car.
“You don’t happen to have a hair tie in here, do you?” he inquired.
“Yeah,” you replied, reaching into the glove compartment. “Ana keeps some in here for emergencies.”
Loki thanked you as you passed it to him and quickly put his hair up in a low bun. When he turned his attention back to you, you were staring at him, and he gave you a charming, lopsided grin that had you ducking your head in embarrassment.
“Ok,” John said with a clap of his hands once you were all on the sidewalk. “We’ll meet here in, say, about 5 hours.”
“Sounds like a plan,” you agreed, before waving goodbye.
Now it was just you and Loki again as you took off towards some stores to look at some baby gifts for Ana. It would still be half a year before the baby arrived, but you were always indecisive when it came to purchasing gifts. On the way, Loki ducked into a small shop and bought a pair of sunglasses, furthering his disguise. Between that, the new clothes, and the different hairstyle, he felt pretty confident in his ability to blend in.
After two-and-a-half hours of shopping, you’d found a bunch of things to maybe get, but hadn’t decided on anything. You would go back and look some more, but you were bone tired after all the walking around. The fact that you were so exhausted made you concerned for Loki’s condition, too, not entirely trusting that he would tell you if he was feeling ill, despite his promise to.
“How are you holding up?” you cautiously asked, afraid of a repeat of yesterday if you pushed too hard.
“I am doing quite well. You, however, seem to need to stop for a spell. Come, let us rest for a minute.”
He led you over to the food court of the mall you were at and pulled out a chair for you to sit in. He glanced around at the options and, though there was nothing there that appealed to him, there was certainly something that you liked. Besides, he didn’t need to eat, but your frail mortal body would need some sustenance sooner rather than later.
“Can I get something for you to eat?” he offered.
“How about we go see a movie instead?” you proposed, eyeing up the nearby theater.
“Only if you eat something.”
“Wow. Look at how the tables have turned,” you laughed. “Fine, but you have to also.”
After a minute’s debate, you and Loki agreed on a comedy starring your favorite actor. It wouldn’t have been Loki’d first pick, but after all the stress and angst of the last 24 hours, he figured he could use a laugh. You also convinced him to try some popcorn and Pepsi. He wasn’t much a fan of the soda, but the snack was tasty enough. Though, you did end up stealing half of his after finishing your own, which was fine with him. The best part of the whole experience, though, was getting to hear your laugh over and over again. Loki thought it might be the most beautiful sound he ever heard. Well, perhaps the best part was actually when your arms brushed each other as you both went to put them on the armrest at the same time. Loki filed away all these little mental notes to dwell on at a later date. Or, if he were lucky enough to rein in his hurricane of thoughts, never again.
“Well, that killed a lot of time,” you said after the movie ended and you were stretching out, aching from having sat for so long. “We’ve still got some left though. What do you want to do?”
“I believe there was a library over by where we parked. Let us go there,” he said, quickly thinking up a plan.
By the time you walked over, there was only about twenty minutes left for him to complete what he needed to do. He hurried over to where the computers were, and though he wasn’t particularly adept with modern Midgardian technology, the directions taped to the wall were clear enough that he was able to look up a book. He sent you off to get it, claiming that the title had just popped into his head and that he was certain he used to love it, and that he wanted to check on the status of a few others. You obliged, hoping that seeing the book would bring back some more of his supposedly lost memories.
Once you were gone Loki quickly searched for information on what he learned was being referred to as the Battle of New York. Thankfully, there was as little information about him circulating as Mr. Berkeley had said. Mostly, it was just speculation and stories from people claiming they’d been there. A great number of posts and photos had been deleted, too, and Loki assumed that they were ones with more valid claims and information. Knowing how SHIELD is, Loki was sure it was all removed almost immediately, so he felt relatively safe but decided he couldn’t be too careful.
“I found it!” you said, setting the book down as Loki closed out the tab he was on.
“Wonderful! Thank you,” he replied, flipping through it. “Most unfortunately, the other books were checked out.”
You leaned over shoulder to look at the book in his hands. “That’s too bad. What about this one, though? Triggering any memories?”
“Well, I think I enjoyed reading. Other than that, I am afraid not.”
“That’s ok. We’ll keep trying.”
Your hand slowly drifted over to rest on his, and he gave you a brilliant smile. It made him wish he’d found a friend in the universe far sooner than he had. Then maybe he wouldn’t have ended up in the hands of Thanos, committing atrocities against his family and strangers alike. Then again, if none of that happened, he never would have met you. He was torn over which he preferred.
“There you guys are,” John said, walking up to where you were. “Ready to head back whenever you are.”
After putting the book back on the shelf, you were ready to leave. Loki hung back with John as you exited.
“Your plan has worked miracles, my good man. You have my sincerest gratitude,” he said.
“No problem, dude,” John said, patting Loki on the back. “Glad to bring a happy couple back together again.”
Loki’s steps faltered. Between his companion’s smirk and teasing tone, Loki knew it was meant as a joke. Mainly, anyway. John really was very off the mark, though. He and you were merely friends, nothing more. And surely that was just barely so, seeing as you were a human. There was no way you meant anything else to Loki. Right?
It wasn’t until you were back on the road, and Loki couldn’t stop looking at the back of your head, that he even began to realize just how much trouble he was in.
Triple Threat, Chapter 5
TITLE: Triple Threat CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 5 AUTHOR: fanficshiddles ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Loki kidnaps Darcy Lewis, in hopes of getting the tesseract in return for her. Imagine his surprise when he grows rather fond of the mortal, finding that she understands him better than anyone else ever has.  RATING: M
After calming the tension down between the two Loki’s, the team abandoned the takeaway food. Apart from Darcy, who grabbed her chow mein tub and took it with her as they all headed up to Fury’s main office.
She sat there at the large table, using chopsticks to eat while everyone conversed. Loki stood right behind her, hands on her shoulders possessively as he glared at the other Loki across the table.
Loki was sitting down, quite comfortable in his surroundings.
‘Start explaining. You have exactly two minutes to tell us why we shouldn’t lock you in a cell and throw away the key.’ Fury said firmly, glaring at him from the top end of the table.
Loki smirked. ‘You need me. That’s the first reason. Secondly, you haven’t locked this one up.’ He motioned across to Loki. ‘Which in my eyes, is a good thing and means you can trust him. Hence, you can trust me. We are one and the same.’
‘We are not the same.’ Loki snarled.
‘You both sure look the same.’ Tony commented, earning a glare from Loki.
‘Nah… I see it now, the hair is slightly different. Intruder Loki is slightly longer and greasier. Plus, the features are ever so slightly off. Not as handsome.’ Darcy said, pointing her chopsticks across the table at Loki.
Loki smirked and gave Darcy’s shoulders a squeeze.
‘You didn’t seem to be thinking that last week at the cinema, when you were kissing me with such enthusiasm.’ Loki grinned wickedly.
Darcy’s eyes widened and her mouth fell open. Loki looked just as shocked and appalled.
‘WHAT?’ Both Darcy and Loki roared at the same time.
‘That was YOU?’ Darcy screeched.
‘How DARE you!’ Loki was about to storm over, but Thor grabbed his shoulder.
‘Calm down, brother. Let’s hear him out first. Then you can sort out other issues afterwards.’ Thor said calmly.
Loki’s nostrils flared as he clenched his jaw and moved back behind Darcy. His grip on her shoulders even tighter than before. Darcy tried to ignore the horrible feeling within her stomach. So she covered it by continuing to eat.
‘But it’s still Loki. Just from another reality. And he still has to tell us what the hell is going on!’ Clint said as he took a seat.
Loki sighed and leaned back in his chair.
‘In the reality where I come from, Thanos got hold of all the infinity stones. He wiped out half the population of every realm, every single race. We managed to defeat him, eventually. With a lot of time hopping to get the stones from the past and a lot of sacrifices.’
‘Who’s we?’ Fury asked.
Loki looked at everyone and motioned his hand to them all. ‘Everyone. I was on a ship with Thor and The Asgardians that remained after Ragnarok, heading here to Midgard when Thanos’
‘Wait, Ragnarok?’ Thor interrupted.
‘Oh, that hasn’t happened?’ Loki looked at Thor.
‘No! And it would NOT happen under my watch.’ Thor growled.
Loki chuckled. ‘Well, that’s a story for another day. Let’s just say, we had some more adventures together, brother. Then working together, we saved the Asgardians from Ragnarok, but not Asgard, unfortunately. Although New Asgard is prospering. Now, as I was saying… Thanos attacked the ship we were on. I managed to get to Midgard with Bruce, and we got help from Doctor Strange and yourself.’ He pointed at Tony.
‘Wait, I was with you on the ship?’ Bruce asked.
‘Are you all going to continuously interrupt me or can I carry on?’ Loki snarled.
‘Keep going.’ Natasha nodded.
‘Long story short, we were able to beat Thanos. Undo everything he did. But on returning the stones, Steve lost one while traveling through time. The reality stone, or maybe better known to you all as the Aether. We have tracked it down to this reality, but it’s whereabouts is unknown… What I do know, is that your girlfriend Jane Foster likely has it in her possession.’
Everyone paused and looked really confused. Thor especially.
‘She is not my girlfriend anymore.’ He said regretfully.
‘She dumped you in this reality too?’ Loki raised an eyebrow with a very slight smirk.
‘No… I was the one who ended it.’ Thor said sheepishly.
‘Ah. So perhaps you are smarter than in my reality.’ He chuckled.
‘Hardly.’ Loki scoffed.
‘Wait, why do you think Jane has it?’ Darcy interrupted.
‘She stumbled across it in my reality, Thor had to get my help to get it out of her. We drew the dark elves to her, to get it out of her. So, I’d say it’s an educated guess that she would stumble across it in this reality, too. And I suspected she would be here, with Thor. Or at least with Darcy. I must say, I am rather surprised to find you dating me. I can’t wait to hear how that happened.’ He grinned.
‘We’re not dating.’ Darcy said flatly.
‘It certainly doesn’t look that way.’ Loki narrowed his eyes at the two.
‘It’s complicated.’ Loki grumbled.
‘Sure it is.’ Loki chuckled. ‘So, do you have any idea where Jane is?’
The team looked at one another, shrugging.
‘She left… I haven’t even heard from her, not a single text.’ Darcy shrugged and finished off her chow mein.
Loki frowned. ‘When did she leave?’
‘Hmm, I dunno. Must be, what, six months ago?’ Darcy glanced at Natasha, who nodded.
‘Yeah, about that.’ She agreed.
Loki stroked his chin in thought. ‘Why did you dump her?’ He asked Thor.
‘She… She was acting, strange. She had become rather…’
‘Stuck up.’ Darcy finished for him. ‘She turned into a horrible bitch, from just before Loki came along, actually.’
‘Mmm, that is true.’ Thor nodded in agreement.
‘So, her behaviour changed?’ Loki asked. ‘How long ago?’
‘That must be well over a year and a half ago now?’ Darcy asked the others. She couldn’t believe it had actually been that long since Loki first kidnapped her… How things had changed since then.
‘That would fit… I was aiming to get back further in time, to roughly a year and a half ago, but Tony and Bruce in my reality didn’t send me far enough back. So I need to make do with you all in the here and now. But I believe she found it back then, which would explain her change in character. It can influence people, for good or bad. It takes the tiniest of feelings and it can manifest those feelings into something much bigger, and sometimes deadlier. I am surprised she’s been able to contain the power within her for this long… You really have no idea where she has gone?’
‘Nope.’ Darcy shook her head.
Loki pinched the bridge of his nose. ‘Ok.’ He sighed. ‘I know where I can get a trinket to help locate the aether. But it’s not on Midgard.’
‘Where is it?’ Wanda asked.
‘Knowhere.’
‘It must be somewhere. You just said you know where it is.’ Tony said, confused.
‘No, it’s on Knowhere. It’s a realm.’ Loki growled at Tony, shaking his head.
‘I see you have to deal with idiot Midgardians too.’ Loki smirked.
But Loki ignored him.
‘Wait, are we sure we can even believe this guy? I mean, it IS Loki. No offence, Loki. But we know YOU. But not this guy.’ Steve said as he motioned to the intruder Loki.
‘Steve is right. How do we know you aren’t trying to get the stones for yourself?’ Fury asked.
Loki rolled his eyes. ‘If you want Thanos to wipe half of you all out, then fine. Be my guest to do nothing and lock me away. Or you could send Thor to speak to Heimdall, see if he can locate Jane. Prove me wrong. But I am betting she is either not on Midgard, or is shielded from his view.’
The team looked at one another uncertainly. But they had no other options at this time.
‘Thor, go check with Heimdall.’ Fury said firmly.
Thor nodded and headed out with Mjolnir.
‘WE need to talk.’ Loki leaned down and growled in Darcy’s ear. She gulped and got up, heading out with him. Who had a firm grip of her elbow.
‘And you need to stay here.’ Fury pointed at Loki. ‘It’s bad enough having one trickster here, we don’t need two running around. Vision, Wanda, keep an eye on him until we can make some sense of this mess.’ Fury stormed out of the room.
The rest of the team went off too, leaving Loki under Wanda and Vision’s supervision in the meantime.
-
‘You KISSED him?’ Loki hissed at Darcy when they got back to his room.
‘I thought it was you!’ She screeched up at him.
Loki started pacing back and fore. ‘You just said you can tell the difference. How did you not know it wasn’t me?’ He looked hurt.
‘I’m sorry, Loki. I had no idea there was two of you. He surprised me, why wouldn’t I think it wasn’t you? Please, don’t let this come between us. I didn’t mean it, I really didn’t. But he’s still you, just… a different reality. Slightly older, I assume.’
Loki went to the window and looked out, hands on his hips.
‘Loki, don’t ignore me. Come on, I’m as shocked as you that there’s another you. But I bet you’d do the same if you had to jump to another reality and found you were hooking up with some hot chick. You enjoy mischief just as much as he does and playing tricks.’ Darcy walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him from behind, hugging into his back.
‘I wouldn’t because you know youhave my heart.’ He grumbled.
‘I know. But if I didn’t, if we weren’t… whatever we are. You would’ve done exactly the same. I know you, Loki. And would you know the difference if another Darcy from a different reality suddenly started kissing you?’
‘I… Well, of course.’ Loki stammered out sheepishly.
‘No, you wouldn’t. Not at first anyway. Please, Loki. Give me a break here. I don’t love him, I love YOU. Not him. I promise. And I’m sorry.’
She knew Loki gave in and forgave her as soon as he placed his hands over hers at his stomach. He sighed and turned around, to wrap his arms around her in return and he rested his chin on top of her head.
‘I’m sorry, love. I just… I don’t like the fact there’s another me.’
‘I don’t either, believe me. It’s me that now has to deal with TWO Gods of mischief!’ Darcy groaned.
Loki chuckled and kissed the top of her head. ‘Hopefully he won’t be here for too long, as soon as we find Jane, we can send him on his way back to his own reality with the aether.’
-
The team all gathered again an hour later once Thor returned from Asgard.
‘Well, does Heimdall know where she is?’ Darcy asked.
Thor sighed and looked down. ‘No… He has not seen her since she left here six months ago.’
‘Well, shit.’ Darcy groaned, throwing her head back.
‘In that case, I will need a ship and a team to come with me to Knowhere.’ Loki said as he looked around the team expectantly.
One sad story
Loki x female!reader (eventually) Avengers x reader (platonic)
Part 1/2
Word count: 1 272
Summary: you feel like you are unwanted in the team unless you change, but that's hard. The whole team is worried about you, but only Loki managed to do something, for now.
Warnings: sadness, depression. It will get better I promise.
Tumblr media
Bring Sally up, bring Sally down, lift and squat, gotta tear the ground. Bring Sally up...
You can't anymore. It's nearly the end of the song but you just can't continue. Natasha on the other hand is doing push ups as if it was nothing.
"How are you so strong?" you asked her, breathing heavily.
"Don't know, might be my training?" Nat turned the video of and started to stretch her arms. You were still laying on the cold floor, cooling your heated body. It would be nice to just close your eyes and forget everything around you. But you have to stretch first, otherwise you might damage your muscles.
After stretching and warm shower both you and Nat went to kitchen.
"Hey Y/N, me, Wanda, Pepper and Maria want to have a girl night, wanna join?"
"No, thanks. I'm too tired. I'll just turn on some movie and fall asleep," you fake-yawned, trying to convince her of your tiredness.
"Alright, do as you wish," said the red haired spy, knowing you weren't as tired as you acted.
You turned around and made your way to elevators. Just as boys were coming out of the gym. All of them shirtless of course. 'Show offs' you thought, rolling your eyes with a smile.
But then, you noticed him. A certain raven haired god was walking quietly after the horde of heroes, wearing a tank top and man bun. You quickly looked away, rushing to your room. You were very closed friends, but you started to distance yourselves lately. In the begging it was just the two of you. Reading in the library until one of you fell asleep, watching movies under the blanket, talking while enjoing a cup of tea. But ever since the rest of the team (mainly boys) started to train with him, talk to him, spending time with him. He just didn't have time on you anymore.
But that's fine. You had time to yourself. You started working out, gaining muscle. You already were an Avenger, now you have to look the part. You were trained to be fast, not strong, that's why you didn't have that much muscle. That's why you looked small and weak and useless compared to your teammates. Gods, assasins, soldiers...
And then you. Ordinary human. With basic training. Without special skills or super powers. Invisible. Unimportant. Replacable.
You sighed and turned your laptop on. Browsing through Netflix until you found The Little Prince. It's always easier to conceal crying when you have a background noise.
-
"Hey, where's Y/N? I thought she'll come," Wanda asked Natasha, fixing her black dress and curled hair.
"I thought so too but she said she's too tired. She was lying, obviously. Something's going on with her, but what?"
"I just hope she's okay."
"Oh please, why wouldn't she be? She's Y/N, the toughst girl I know. Besides, where's Maria? Did you tell her we are leaving at six instead of seven?" Pepper intervened enthusiasticaly. This was the first night off she has had for 3 months.
Girls then heard high heels clapping towards them."Of course they did. It takes time to look this gorgeous" to emphasise Maria threw her hair loreal-comercial style.
"Alright ladies, let's go shopping!"
-
"Does anyone know of Y/N whereabouts? She promised she'll watch that 'movie thing' she mentioned earlier"
"Thor, you've asked 3 times already and for the fourth time: she's sleeping in her room. Let her rest."
"Says someone who had no problem letting her be awake for more than 20 hours straight. We get it Tony, your sleeping schedule is messed up, doesn't mean she has to have it too."
When Bruce entered the living room he was presented with Clint and Tony in the middle of their poker game (playing for cookies), Thor chewing on an apple behind Tony peeking into his cards and Loki calmly reading a book with a steaming cup of tea sitting next to them.
"I can watch that movie with you Thor, if you'd like to. By the way, did you notice Y/N started to act.... a little odd lately?" Bruce swore he saw Loki looking up from his book with his peripheral vision.
"Nah, she's the same as always. Just a little tired. I saw her working out like crazy these past weeks. HEY YOU LIL CHEATER, STOP IT!"
"I'm not cheating bird brains, you just can't play. I'll share if you apologize. But Bruce is right, something's wrong. I mean I'm glad she's getting sleep but something just isn't right" Tony was dragging all of the cookies towards himself, making funny faces at pouting Clint.
"You know what? How about we play for something more valuable?" Clint asked with a smirk.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Sure am fancy tin can."
"POP TARTS!" both of them shouted at the same time. Clint was already making his way to kitchen for the box of said valuable treats when he was stopped by Thor.
"If you are going to play for my loves, you have to win against me too!"
"Thor, have you ever played poker?"
"Of course I have," he haven't, but he's been watching them play for over an hour. How hard can it possibly be?
Meanwhile Bruce sat down next to Tony, opposite of Loki.
"What about you?" Bruce asked Loki.
"What about me?" Loki took a sip of his tea, not looking up from his book.
"Well, Y/N was the first one to convince us you're not as much of a dick as we thought you are and you don't even care about her!" Tony managed to say with full mouth of his prize.
"First of all thank you for not thinking I'm a dick, second of all I do care about her and third of all she's just tired. You said it yourself Stark. I'll check up on her when she's rested."
"Get in line Rudolf. Bruce, do you want to play?"
"Yeah, why not?"
Clint and Thor arrived with two giant boxes of Pop tarts and started to sort it out into four piles.
Loki just rolled his eyes, got up and walked towards elevators.
-
*knock* "Y/N? Are you there?"
Oh shit.
Why was Loki here? Of all people why him? Right when you finally ran out of tears to shed. You didn't even need to look into a mirror to know how you looked like. Puffy red eyes, wet face, runny nose and bird's nest for hair. Just great.
"Yeah, what do you want?" even your voice sounded like you've been crying for two hours straight, which you did.
"Y/N, are you okay? Can I come in? Please?"
"Yeah," you murmured loud enough for him to hear.
He opened the door and walked straight to you, cupping your face, forcing you to look into his eyes.
"Sweetheart, were you crying? Who hurt you?" you could hear the pain in his voice. Why did he care all of a sudden? Did boys ditch him?
"No one, I'm fine. Really. I was just watching a very sad movie and it made me cry, that's all."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. I mean, have you seen it? I bet you would cry too," 'but you don't have time on me and my silly movies' you added in your head.
"Well, guys are playing cards for sweets and girls are out wasting money on accessories they will never wear and I have currwntly nothing to do. Let's watch the movie that upset you so."
'If only it was the movie that really made me cry' you thought and put the movie on.
the can-can
for @broskepol (i don’t know if you meant this to be a writing prompt but i vibed with it and im bored at work)
(warning: can-can from orpheus in the underworld was blasted during the writing of this fic and as a result the entire work is on crack)
It had been stuck in Loki’s head all damn day.
It was a classical song with some sort of trumpet melody. “Can-can,” he remembers Peter calling it last night at his after-school Drama Club meeting. Peter claimed it was the Drama Club’s theme song.
A drama club that, believe it or not, Loki was a proud member of.
When Thor had brought Loki back to Earth, the team decided first and foremost that the god of mischief needed to be contained, to be isolated. He was too chaotic for their planet.
Whatever, Loki had thought. This coming from the gentleman that wanted to put a suit of armor around the world? Talk about paranoid.
Though when all was said and done, Thor hadn’t even been able to convince Tony to let Loki exist in harmony with mortals.
It had been Peter.
Peter suggested rehabilitation. He was the one that had seen Loki sitting bored out of his mind behind a thick sheet of glass, had been the one to hear Thor’s story of how Loki saved their people. He was the one that demanded Tony find any other method of familiarizing Loki with both humans and the world because, as far as Peter had been concerned, locking a person away just because they unleashed an entire alien race on the biggest city in the world “wasn’t fair.”
The punishment didn’t fit the crime, so it goes.
So there Loki was. Spreading strawberry jam and peanut butter on two slices of bread, humming “Can-can,” and silently wondering how he was finally living without a target on his back, silently thanking Peter.
“Are you...humming?”
Loki spun on his heel with a jump, butter knife flying out of his hold and splattering peanut butter and jelly on the floor as he made eye contact with Clint, who was leaning against the compound refrigerator with narrowed, suspicious eyes.
“No.” Loki spun back around, his chin raised as he brought the two pieces of bread together and settled the sandwich on a plate. “I hate music. It’s too...happy.”
Clint scoffed, his arms crossed over his chest as he sauntered forward. “And I’m...what? Just supposed to believe that?”
“Do what you will,” Loki shrugged, taking a bite of his sandwich and raising a brow smugly at the avenger. “I don’t control you.”
Clint clicked his tongue with a laugh, shaking his head. “Alright. I see how it is.”
“And how is it, bird man?”
“Don’t bullshit me. You’ve been in my head before. I don’t know what fucked up game you’re playing here, but we’ve taken you down once. Don’t think for a second we won’t do it again.”
“I’m sure I don’t know what you mean.”
“Cut the crap. Alright? You’re the god of mischief for christ’s sake. It’s in your blood.”
Loki clenched his jaw, his chin remaining raised as Clint stood inches from his face.
“You may have everyone else fooled, but not me. You can never belong here.”
Loki puffed his chest out, anger seeping into his gaze, his ears and cheeks burning red-
“Woah, woah, woah-“
Loki snapped his head toward the kitchen island as Tony jogged inside, his hands raised in mock surrender.
“Let’s all just take a breath. Alright? Legolas, you want to, uh...?”
Clint scoffed and turned on his heel as Tony brought a hand to the man’s shoulder and clapped it, turning over his shoulder and offering Loki a smile.
“Makin’ yourself some lunch there, Dark Knight?”
“...Trying to.”
“Right. Carry on.”
Tony led Clint out of the kitchen and heaved a sigh, hand remaining on his friend’s shoulder as they sauntered toward the great windows of the compound.
“...You wanna pull yourself together, dear?”
“He was humming, Tony. Humming a song like he’s innocent.”
“Look, alright, he’s getting there. But we can’t provoke him like that anymore.”
“Why are you okay with this? The guy is the literal master of manipulation and deceit, Tony. And why do you let him hang around the kid?”
“Loki can’t hurt Peter. There’s no one alive that can look in that kid’s eyes and try to hurt him. I don’t make the rules. Besides, Loki needs a friend that isn’t Thor.”
“I’m sorry, since when are we beating around the bush and treating him like royalty? In 2012 he’s killing at random and sending galactic armies down on us and now he’s making sandwiches in our kitchen? Humming?”
“Maybe he likes music.”
“Where did he even hear it?”
“Does that matter? He’s...immersing himself. He’s trying to be better. Who cares where he heard it?”
“It’s just weird,” Clint shrugged, squinting as he looked out the window at the blinding blue sky. “He doesn’t have a phone, and he definitely doesn’t watch TV. Just makes you wonder, you know, where he heard the song.”
Tony raised his jaw and narrowed his ryes suspiciously Clint’s direction, imagining all the ways Clint would flip his lid if he ever found out that Loki, for some reason Clint’s great enemy, was attending Drama Club meetings at the Midtown School of Science and Technology with Tony’s kid.
“...Could’ve been anywhere.”
“Hm.”
Tony’s answer had been far from satisfactory.
Clint was about to head home to his family for the weekend when he spotted Loki sneaking out of the compound, fully clad in a sweatshirt and jeans. He looked over his shoulder once before he was letting the door slip shut behind him.
Clint narrowed his eyes and followed him out, bow in hand.
Loki stopped beside one of Tony’s Audi’s. He looked both ways again anxiously before he was opening the passenger side door.
“Oh, no you don’t.” Clint growled and reached behind him for an arrow, fastening it in place, closing one eye for precision-
Clint’s eyes flew wide when he spotted Tony in the driver’s seat. He choked, quickly lowered his weapon, and watched numbly as Loki climbed inside the vehicle and shut the door behind him. The Audi peeled out of the driveway soon after.
“...What are you up to, Stark?”
Clint followed loosely behind the two in his car for about forty five minutes before Tony finally parked the car.
Midtown School of Science and Technology...?
The two climbed out of the car and began making their way through the front doors. It was four o’clock, so obviously school had ended by then.
Clint narrowed his eyes in suspicion and snuck after them.
They sauntered through the halls casually before Tony led them into the auditorium. Clint hurriedly ran to keep the door from shutting and slipped inside after them, bow and arrows still at the ready.
“...Okay, so, looks like everyone’s here, except...”
Clint crawled behind a row of seats in the audience, squinting as he watched a group of kids conversing, all seated in a circle on stage.
Two kids were standing looking at a clipboard. A blonde girl, sixteen or so by the looks of it, and...
Peter...?
“Oh, nevermind, there he is!”
“Hey, Loki!”
“What, no greeting for me?”
“Hi, Mister Stark.”
Tony patted Loki’s back as Loki hopped over the lip of the stage and crossed to the one empty chair in the circle.
“I beg your pardon,” Loki said in a polite, unfamiliar tone, smiling nervously as he sent an awkward wave to the group of kids. “I appear to have lost track of time.”
“You’re right on time,” the blonde one assured him, her smile beaming. “We’re covering improv today!”
“Oh, great,” Tony grunted as he seated himself on the front row in the audience. “I’m something of an expert at improv myself, you know. I have never planned anything that’s ever happened to me, ever.”
“Do you wanna join, Mister Stark?”
“...Nah. You guys got it.”
“If you say so. Alright, someone get the music.”
One of the kids hopped up from their seat and jogged backstage. A second later, classical music began playing softly around the theatre.
Clint gasped, betrayal flashing in his eyes as he narrowed them.
“The can-can...”
“Let’s warm up with the freeze game! Noes goes!”
The kids each quickly raised a finger to their nose. Loki was the last to do so.
“Aw, okay, Loki’s it for the first round.”
Clint scoffed. It? Loki’s it? Like he’s playing a god damn game of hide and go seek?!
“This should be good,” Tony said from the front row.
Clint saw red.
Peter sensed this, snapping his head out toward the audience in alarm. Tony frowned, turning over his shoulder.
But Clint was already running and fast, the music crescendoing as he grabbed an arrow, positioned it in his bow, leapt over the stage, landed on the apron-
“Get down!”
Peter’s cry of alarm sent everyone screaming and diving to the stage floor, hands over their heads protectively. Loki was standing with wide, terrified eyes as Clint aimed and fired his bow.
“No!”
Peter leapt forward and caught the bow a mere few inches before it could collide with Loki’s face. He stared at it in shock for only a moment before he was turning back to Clint, eyes wide.
“Mister Clint, what’re you-?!”
“Get down, kid.” Clint shot another arrow Peter’s way, the arrow exploding into a net and entrapping Peter inside as he collapsed to the ground. “I’m trying to protect you.”
Loki reached for Peter desperately, though Clint returned his aim to the demigod, expression seething.
“Don’t move a muscle.”
“Are you out of your damn mind?!”
Clint glanced to the side as Tony jumped over the lip of the stage, horrified gaze darting between the arrow aimed at Loki’s face and his kid, kicking and thrashing inside of a net.
“I was about to ask you the same thing.”
“I mean, Jesus Christ, Barton. I shouldn’t even have to tell you how wrong this is.”
“Dammit, Tony, this isn’t real. Okay? None of this is real! Until he’s been inside of your head, until he’s controlled your mind, you’ll never understand that everything he’s ever done was just for show.”
The auditorium doors clicked open. Clint faltered as Natasha, Thor, Steve, and Bruce walked inside, eyes immediately wide at the sight on stage.
“What the hell is going on here?”
“Brother? What is the meaning of this?!”
“Golden Archer here had a bright idea to ambush a high school to settle a grudge. That’s the meaning of this.”
Clint lowered his weapon, clearing his throat uncomfortably.
“...what are you guys doing here?”
“We’re here for the play.” Steve lifted a flyer from his pocket, eyebrow raised. “It’s Loki’s first show. It was on the fridge.”
“...What?!”
Loki sent an accusatory scowl Tony’s way. “You told them?!”
“It...might’ve slipped out over dinner. But I didn’t hang that on the fridge, I swear.”
Loki narrowed his eyes again, this time Peter being the victim.
“...sorry, Lo.”
“Wait...” Clint scoffed, eyebrows knitted together in confusion. “You signed him up for this, Tony?”
“...The guy’s already a drama queen. What else was I supposed to do?”
“We came to find you,” Natasha explained to Clint, “but you weren’t in your room. We assumed you already went home for the weekend.”
“I can’t believe this.”
“Um, excuse me,” the blonde girl was saying from the floor, her friends around her shivering in fear, “but what is going on? And why is Peter in a net?!”
“Good question, Miss Brant.” Tony strode forward, sending a seething glance Clint’s way before he swiped one of his arrows from out of Clint’s pouch and used it as a knife to slice through the ropes of the net.
“You good, kid?” Tony brushed Peter’s hair out of his eyes gently, worry etched into the lines of his face.
“‘M good, Mister Stark. Thanks.”
Tony was just about to turn around and tear Clint to shreds, though someone beat him to it.
“If you hurt the child again,” Loki warned through gritted teeth, “I’ll be the one holding the arrow to your face.”
Clint scoffed. “See, Tony? He’s still the same Loki. He hasn’t changed a bit.”
“Do you even hear yourself right now? That was eleven years ago. I mean, look at him. He’s wearing a sweatshirt and jeans for godsake. He’s at a Drama Club rehearsal. What’s he gonna do, huh? Kill us all with the plastic prop sword backstage?”
“I don’t-I don’t know, okay? He’s got Asgardian powers. Any second he could turn on us.”
“He would never do that.”
Clint raised an eyebrow as one of the kids rose from the ground hesitantly, hands still raised in the air.
“Loki is...we really like him here. He’s good at drama.”
“Yeah,” Betty nodded, rising to her knees. “He’s the club historian. He takes all of our pictures for us. He even started on a scrapbook.”
The group chorused in agreement. Loki fought a genuine grin when he remembered that the avengers were watching from the audience seating, listening.
“Plus, he’s one of my best friends.” Peter smiled up at Loki from his knees. “Right, Lo?”
Loki bit his lip before he grumbled something under his breath, throwing up his hands in mock surrender.
“Fine. Fine, okay? I may have...I may have bonded with the humans. And I-I listen to music now, and I go to Drama Club meetings, and I wear...whatever style of clothing this is.” Loki turned to Clint, his stance still defensive though his gaze was sincere. “I’ve changed. Or, at least, I’m trying to change. All I need is a second...second chance.”
Loki stuck his hand out for Clint to shake. Clint raised an eyebrow, raising his jaw.
“No tricks?”
“No tricks.”
“No lying? No infinity stones? No alien armies?”
“None whatsoever.”
Despite himself, Clint’s lip quirked ever so slightly in a smile and he was taking Loki’s hand in his, shaking it with a nod.
“Well...alright then.”
Clint slung his bow over his shoulder and turned to face the avengers in the house of the auditorium, his gaze apologetic. Natasha, Steve, and Bruce was smiling up at him. Thor was wiping tears out of the corner of his eye.
“Brava!” Thor clapped, his lip quivering. “Excellent! Excellent display!”
“...You realize that wasnt the show, right?”
“I would be fine if it was.”
“Eh,” Tony shrugged. “I think that’s enough Drama Club for one day. What do you say, kids? Rendezvous for some shawarma?”
The group of teens all chorused in excitement, rising from the ground and all thoughts of danger vanishing from their minds. They slung their backpacks over their shoulders and descended the steps of the stage excitedly.
“Mister Stark,” Peter frowned as Tony wrapped Peter in a side hug, squeezing him. “I thought shwarma was reserved for after missions?”
“Well...” Tony gestured his head toward the lip of the stage, where Loki was dangling his legs off of the side and engaging in conversation with the avengers.
Actually talking. No fighting, no weapons, nothing.
Thor was ruffling his brother’s hair fondly, tears still brimming his eyes. Loki was rolling his own, scoffing at Thor’s adoration.
Clint was still suspicious though Natasha was nudging him in the shoulder, a smirk on her lips. Bruce had an arm draped around Steve’s shoulders as Steve threw his head back with a laugh at something Loki had said.
“...Mission accomplished, kiddo.”
Thievery and Mischief- (a descendants/marvel crossover)
Tumblr media
After the tour, I decide to pay a little visit to my friends at Auradon Prep, Tia and Tavian, my favorite twins from Louisiana and drama club captains.
”Yo, Adri! What’s up?” Tavian says.
”Long time no see, how y’all doing?” I ask.
”Good now that there’s some peace and quiet,” Tia says, looking up towards the top of the stage.
”Not my fault you guys are so boring,” A voice says from the rafters.
I look up and see a guy with large wings, almost like a bird’s.
He stares at me, his eyes widening and suddenly he swoops down.
“Holy crap, you’re Adri Ababwa. I’m a big fan,” The guy says now standing in front of me.
”Nice wings man,” I say.
”Thanks, I grew them myself. Mutant powers y’know?” Angel says.
”Mutants?” I ask.
”My dad is a fairy, my mom is a sorceress. I’m Angel, by the way,” He says.
”Angel...by any chance are you the Bell twins’ cousin?” I ask.
He nods.
”They talk about you all the time, I see why now,” I say.
”It’s rare to see mutants in families. Some have wings, have claws in their hands, can shapeshift, that’s probably why I look up to you,” Angel says.
”Cause I can shapeshift into a tiger?” I ask.
”Exactly,” Angel says.
Tia and Tavian stare at us confusedly.
”Power talk,” I say.
The bell rings and the twins collect their things.
”Ooh, Tia! When’s the next time your mom can make me some of her famous gumbo?” I ask.
”If you come with me now, we can stop by her restaurant,” Tia says.
I turn to Angel.
”Wanna come?” I ask.
”Sure,” Angel says.
————
After meeting Angel, I learned some things about mutants and their abilities. This lesson was pretty enlightening and made me feel like I wasn't alone with my curse.
Later, I get a call from a number I don't recognize while walking through the gardens. I pick up the phone.
"Hello?" I say through the phone.
"Hey, Adri. It's been a while," A familiar voice says through the phone.
I recognize the voice to be Stefani, or Lady Gaga through the phone.
"Oh my gosh, Stefani! It's such an honor to talk to you again," I say happily.
I sit under the usual gossip tree to take the call.
"I know. Anyways, darling, I have a little project for you. You're someone who I love and hold dear as an artist, so I want to collaborate with you on a couple of songs for a movie I'm producing a soundtrack for," Stefani says.
"You want to collaborate with me for a motion picture soundtrack?" I ask.
"Mark Ronson is also gonna help and a couple of people from my team too. I was also looking in the credits for your album and I saw your boyfriend did the mixing for a couple of songs. I was hoping you and him might want to tag along on this," Stefani adds.
"I'm sure he would e happy to, but for now all I can say is yes to you on my own behalf. I would absolutely love to," I say with a smile.
"Great! I'll text you meeting details on Friday," Stefani says.
"Great!" I say.
I hang up the phone and giggle. I feel like screaming for joy. So many great things are happening! I guess that's what happens when you hit rock-bottom, you only go up from there. And now, everything is looking up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walk to the gym where I find Jay with Lonnie and the rest of the fencing team.
”Take a break, boys!” Lonnie says, blowing her new captain’s whistle.
Jay spots me by the doors and walks over with a smile on his face.
”Hey, babe,” He greets.
Before he can kiss me, I put my finger over his lips.
”We have songs to write for Gaga,” I say with a smile.
Jay’s smile drops.
”Gaga? As in, Lady Gaga? Grammy award winner, Gaga?” Jay asks.
”She just called me and she wants us to write her songs for a movie,” I say.
Jay smiles widely and lifts me of the ground, hugging me tightly.
“Jesus, why didn’t you tell me sooner? That’s great! What if we win as Oscar or a Grammy or even a Teen choice award? I’m so proud of you,” Jay rants.
I laugh at his reaction to the news.
”Why is Jay smiling like that?” Lonnie asks, coming up to us.
”We get to write music for Lady Gaga,” Jay says proudly.
Lonnie’s jaw drops.
”Congratulations! You deserve it for making such good songs for her album,” Lonnie says, patting Jay’s shoulder.
”Nah, the real mastermind is Adri. Her lyrics and her voice made the songs much more beautiful,” Jay says.
I blush softly and punch his arm shyly.
”Shut up,” I mutter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After Jay’s practice, we follow Lonnie to Coach Jenkin’s office.
”There's my favorite captains!” Coach says.
“Oh shush, we know we’re good,” I say with a smirk.
I first bump Lonnie.
”Speaking of Captains, I got word of your schedule changes,” He says, pointing to me and Jay.
”Even though these changes have been made, I still think you’d be able to advise your teams. Especially you, Jay, since Ben is out of action,” Coach explains.
”Are you promoting me?” Jay asks.
”I’m making you Captain of the Tourney team, Jay,” Coach says.
Jay’s jaw drops.
”No way,” Jay says in shock.
“Looks like things are looking up, JJ,” I say with a smile.
Jay’s mouth morphs into a smirk.
”Damn right,” He says.
Coach gives us a soft smile.
”You guys can celebrate or something, but on Monday, I expect you all to adjust,” Coach says.
”Yeah,” We all agree.
Suddenly, the announcements go off.
”Adri Ababwa, please report to Fairy Godmother’s office,” The announcement says.
”Did you get your skateboard taken again?” Jay asks.
”How many times are you gonna get that thing confiscated?” Lonnie asks, rolling her eyes.
”It’s in my locker, chill. I have no idea,” I say, getting up from my seat.
I walk through the door and walk to the office.
I walk into the headmistress’s office and I see Mal and Ben with Fairy Godmother.
”Long time no see,” I say to Ben and Mal.
”Glad you’re here,” Ben says, hugging me.
”We called you here because Mal has a proposal for you,” Fairy Godmother explains.
“Rogers stepped down from his position,” Mal says.
My smile fades. Steve Rogers? Family friend, Avengers, Steve?
”Steve stepped down from Captain? Why?” I ask.
“He and Tony had a dispute after Voltron in Germany. I’ve tried to keep a temporary position since Uma came into the Isle, but we need more troops. I think you’d be the best for it because of your powers and experience. And plus, you're already trusted on the court,” Mal explains.
”Mal, I’d be honored to. But I have to find a way to fit it into my schedule. The only free time I have is around now,” I say.
”So, then you can clock in at 5 and finish at 8,” Ben says.
”It's an intensive training role. You’d pick up recruits, train them, and go to the dungeons,” Ben says.
”Not bad,” I think.
”Fine, I’ll do it,” I say.
”Thank you so much,” Mal says with a smile.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walk into the base of operations and spot a familiar face. Bucky Barnes, Steve’s best friend, and newest Avenger.
”Hey, metal arm,” I joke.
”Thank god you’re here,” Bucky says, spotting me.
He gives me a side hug.
”What the hell is wrong with Steve?” I ask him.
”Steve doesn’t agree with the new laws set by Rhodes and the Marshall. Since Sokovia, they wanna add restrictions on our powers because of the explosion and because of that telekinesis girl,” Bucky says.
”I mean they did destroy the city too,” I mention.
”The reason for Tony’s nightmares,” Bucky recalls.
”He has nightmares?” I ask.
”Yeah, if Loki ever comes back, he’ll have a malfunction,” Bucky says.
”Let’s hope that his arc reactor surgery saves him,” I say.
Bucky laughs, remembering he doesn’t have a heart.
”Anyways, let me show you around. So, this is the center of the base, here we have our tanks, our fake grenades, our armory, and training center,” Bucky explains.
”And the troops?” I ask.
”I think that’s your job to cause the first commotion,” Bucky says, handing me a grenade.
”Watch this, grandpa,” I say, taking the grenade from his hands.
I toss the grenade into a group of guys.
They all huddle near the grenade trying to cover it and push each other away.
”Hey! What the hell are you sons if bitches doing? If you see an enemy grenade, you take cover!” I yell.
”The hell is this bitch?” One of the guys asks.
”Bitch? I’m not anyone’s bitch, and for the record, I’m your new Captain,” I say.
The troops all mutter and scoff at each other.
”Go home, kid! You’re kidding yourself if you think you’re gonna train us,” Another guy says.
”What’re your names?” I ask the guys.
They both look at me like I’m dumb.
”I’m Jack. This is Lio,” Jack says.
”I’m promoting you,” I say.
They both look at each other in shock.
”Both of you are now my Lieutenants. You’re gonna spend the majority of training by my side. Whoever are Lieutenants, you’re demoted. If there’s anything I know about being a soldier, you’d fight any fight or anyone to make it to the top. As I train each of you, you must be following my direct orders only. I will watch you all carefully and see if any of you demonstrate proper soldiers' skills. That will determine if you are my second in command. New recruits will all be promoted in place of older ones. As long as you keep up with your task, you’re safe. Any bullshit, you’re out, understand?” I say.
”Yes ma’am,” The Troops say.
I grab a sword from a barrel and I throw it at Lio.
”Get to work,” I order.
The troops go to their assigned positions and Lio and Jack come towards me.
”Who the hell are y-“ Lío starts.
”Bro, that's Adri Ababwa,” Jack explains.
”The artist?” Lio asks.
“Yeah, I’m a huge fan and I’m so fucking sorry about the way I acted earlier,” Jack apologizes.
”It’s fine, I don’t take shit personally. At least anymore,” I say.
”Bruh, you called her a bitch,” Lio comments.
”Shut up,” Jack mutters.
”Listen, I can already tell you two are friends. So please make this easy for me and shut the fuck up and listen,” I say honestly.
”You know you remind me a lot of Rogers,” Jack says.
”We’re friends,” I say.
”You’re friends with Steve Rogers?” Lio asks.
”Yes, now listen up. We’re gonna do some tactical work. You’re gonna go through the grass here with your rifles, your gonna shoot three birds and bring them to me. Got it?” I order.
”Yes ma’am,” They say.
They then pick up their rifles and crouch through the grass.
They miss every shot when birds pass by. One of them lands on Lio’s head and he coos the bird. I roll my eyes at his action. Then, Jack shoots two birds at once. My eyes widen at his shot. They fall into the grass and he picks them up. Lio shoots a bird and it falls slowly.
”That's one big bird,” Lio comments.
As it falls to the ground I notice it’s not a bird.
“Are fucking stupid? That’s a human, not a bird!” Jack shouts.
I run quickly under the person and they fall in my arms.
”Angel? Jesus, are you okay?” I realize.
The metal winged man winces in pain. I realize his hip is bleeding.
”Lio, what the hell is wrong with you? You shot him in the ribs,” I say.
I place him in the grass and reach for Jack’s medkit. He hands it to me and I open it up. I take a pair of tweezers and some alcohol.
”Sit still,” I advise.
I pry the bullet from his hip slowly and Angel grits his teeth from the pain. The bullet comes out cleanly and I put alcohol on the wound and wrap it up.
”Can you fly?” I ask him.
”Sure,” Angel says.
He uses his wings to fly up straight.
”Now who the fuck mistook me for a hunting duck?” Angel asks.
Jack points to Lio.
”Come on, man,” Lío says exasperatedly to Jack.
”Terrible shot,” Angel comments.
Then he takes the gun from Lio’s hand and shoots a bird. The shot is clean and the bird falls quickly to the grass.
”That's how you shoot,” Angel says, picking up the bird from the grass.
He’s good. And he’s got those wings too.
“Hey, Angel? You got anything to do after school?” I ask him.
”No,” He scoffs.
”Would you be interested in being a troop?” I ask him.
”What?” Lio and Jack ask.
”Well, I’ve got nothing else to do,” Angel says.
I smirk and pat his shoulder.
Later, I give Angel his new uniform and make him another Lieutenant. We continue tactical shooting until sunset.
I then search the premises of the base and look at the other troops. They whisper and smirk as I pass by. Some troops, practice grenade launching, shooting positions, fencing. I think to myself:
”Maybe this is something Jay would be interested in hearing.”
I smirk to myself as I think about how successful Jay has been so far in his time in Auradon. I walk into the training center and spot Bucky talking to a troop.
”Hey, how was your first day?” Bucky asks.
”Could’ve been better, but it means progress,” I say with a soft smile.
”Good to know you’re a hard hitter instead of a soft princess. Kind of like your mom,” Bucky says.
”Don’t mention me and my mom in the same sentence, you 100-year-old soldier. That’s like putting you and Steve in the same sentence about ice,” I say, rolling my eyes.
”Shut the hell up,” Bucky says punching my arm with his regular fist.
”You ever punch me with your vibranium arm, I will kill you,” I warn.
Bucky laughs and leaves me alone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One day at school, Angel and I decided to sit together at lunch. We talk about training and new things I could teach the troops. As we talk about ammunition I spot Jay talking to Ruby Fitzherberg, Rapunzel’s daughter. I see her pressing upon him and twirling her blonde hair. Jay uncomfortably tries to walk away.
”Oh god,” I say, rolling my eyes.
”God what?” Angel asks me.
”Jay is with Ruby,” I say.
”Ruby? The girl who slept with five guys at once? You better scoop your man before she gets him,” Angel advises.
”How do you know that?” I ask.
”What? I’m gay. Of course, I know,” Angel explains.
My eyes widen at his words.
”Huh?” I ask dumbfoundedly.
”I said what I said, I’m gay,” Angel says.
I blink in confusion and stand up from the bench.
I walk over to Jay and Ruby and sling my arm around his shoulder.
“Hey guys,” I say.
”Adri! Nice to see you after you dealt with Angel in the theatre,” Ruby says.
”You were there? I didn’t see you or hear your annoying voice,” I say with a smirk.
”I was just asking Jay whether or not he likes my new hair,” Ruby says flirtatiously towards Jay, ignoring my words.
”Um, it looks the same,” I say.
”That’s what I said,” Jay agrees.
”Come on, I cut it 4 inches!” Ruby says playfully hitting Jay’s arm.
”Excuse me, can you not put your hands on him?” I ask her.
”Why not?” Ruby asks.
”It’s super clear that he’s uncomfortable,” I say.
”No he’s not,” Ruby replies bitterly.
Ruby turns to Jay.
”Adri, can we go?” Jay asks.
”Gladly,” I say through gritted teeth.
I grab Jay’s arm and we walk back to my table.
”Who’s this?” Jay asks, seeing Angel.
”This is Lieutenant Angel, the guy Ruby was talking about,” I say.
”Jay. Jay Farr, I’ve heard quite a bit about you from Adri,” Jay says.
”I’ve heard a lot about you too,” Angel says.
”Anyways, you saw what I saw right?” I ask Angel.
”Um, obviously. Ruby has absolutely no self-control. Hey, I’m gay by the way and if you ever and I mean EVER dump her, you’re either getting a Louboutin heel to the face or a date with me,” Angel says.
I scoff at his remarks.
”What? He’s hot,” Angel compliments.
”Thanks, man but I have plans with this girl so...no thanks,” Jay says, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.
”Like I was saying, Ruby thinks she is all preppy and cool when she’s totally out of line for that shit,” I say to Angel.
”What did she do exactly?” Jay asks, peeking in the conversation.
”She was flirting with you- anyways I try to be sane one...”
”And you’re complaining why?” Jay asks in between my words.
Angel snickers to himself. I glare at Jay.
”You. Are. Mine. End of story,” I say through gritted teeth.
Jay laughs to himself after I speak.
“Jeez, you’re jealous! I didn’t actually think you’d slide into the conversation because of that,” Jay laughs.
”With your tendencies, it was so obvious that you were uncomfortable but when I walked over you played into it! It was so clear,” I say frustratedly.
Jay continues to laugh at my responses. I look over at Angel and rolls his eyes.
”She feels like your toying with her and she doesn’t like it,” Angel blurts out.
Jay stops laughing and his smile drops. He turns to see me.
I play with the underside of my nail, trying not to look at Jay.
”Is that true?” Jay asks.
”I don’t know. Maybe I just feel like at any moment you could be suddenly interested in some other girl who’s better than I am,” I mutter.
Jay puts a hand on my thigh and I turn to face him.
”Baby, why would I make plans with you if I didn’t love you or care about you enough to stay with you?” Jay asks.
I blush lightly and shrug.
”It’s because I think your worth every minute of my life,” Jay says sincerely.
I smile softly and I kiss his cheek.
”That's cute,” Angel says.
”Shut up,” I giggle.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A month later,
”Tell me something, boy. Aren’t you tired try to- Fuck what rhymes with that?” I sing, stopping mid-way to think.
”Void?” Stefani suggests.
”Damn it, why is it so hard to write a love song without having the word love in it?” I ask exasperatedly.
”Cause it’s impossible?” Jay suggests.
”It is possible. We’ve just got two weeks to figure it out,” Stefani says, sitting back down in her chair.
Jay puts out his hand for me to pass him the guitar.
”How about we just repeat a couple of lines?” Jay says, receiving the guitar.
“Tell me something, boy, aren’t you tired of trying to fill that void?
or do you need more?” He starts.
”Aint it hard keeping it so hardcore?”  Stefani finishes.
”Yes! That’s it,” I say, writing it down.
We’re about to finish the last song of the motion picture and we’re almost done. But the lyrics keep falling apart.
”Maybe Bradley should just come in here and help us,” I suggest.
We call in Stefani’s co-star, Bradley and he sits.
”What’s the dilemma?” He asks.
”We need more ears. So, how about it?” Jay asks.
Jay hands Bradley the guitar.
”Shit, I’ve only been in classes for a month,” Bradley hesitates.
”You can do it,” Stefani says confidently.
youtu.be/MUX4ZWkDS-s
Bradley starts to strum the chords of the song. I hand Stefani our brainstorm journal and they both look at our lyrics.
They sing the parts of the song effortlessly. At one part, Stefani improvises and nails the part.
They finish and Jay and I clap.
”That was movie magic at its finest! Now, let’s record it, mix it, and then off we go,” I say.
We all get up from our seats to start working on our parts.
Jay and I lay down the mixing and Bradley and Stefani record. And just for fun, Stefani plays a piano version and we end up recording that too.
Later that night, we come home absolutely exhausted.
I plop onto my dorm room bed and sigh. I look up at my ceiling and see the moonlight peeking through my curtain. The bed sinks and I turn to see Jay lying there next to me, looking at the curtains.
”Long days at work, huh?” Jay asks me.
”I took off training to do that, so, yes,” I say.
We both paused in silence for a minute.
”Hey,” Jay speaks up.
”Yeah?”
”Do you think we’ll get nominated for anything?” Jay asks.
”Probably,” I say, thinking out loud.
”You know. I’m glad you asked me to start making music with you. It’s like something I can remember about you...like our own special thing, you know?” Jay says.
”Yeah. By the way, Stefani was the one who asked for you. Not me,” I say.
”Really? I didn’t think that would ever happen,” Jay says in surprise.
I chuckle at his reaction. I turn to my side and wrap my arm around his body. He does the same, pulling me closer to his chest by gripping my waist.
”Baby, where do you see us in the next year?” Jay asks.
I furrow my brows in confusion.
”I mean. Do you think we’ll be together after senior year next year?” Jay asks.
”I mean, we’ve had no problems with our career schedules so far. Sure we had the situation with Lonnie but luckily I’m that wasn’t real,” I say.
Jay laughs at my recollection.
”I’m sorry for that,” Jay chuckles.
”I know. Anyways, I actually believe we could be traveling, making songs, doing couples interviews and photoshoots, and maybe I can have you come to Agrabah and convince my parents to help us get married?” I suggest.
”Married? You wanna marry me?” Jay asks.
”I mean, we need a new heir in the bloodline. And I don’t think Aziz wants to settle down or rule the kingdom yet,” I say.
Jay chuckles to himself for a minute. He scoops down and places a kiss on my forehead.
”Why can’t we do that now then?” Jay asks.
My eyes widen at his words. I blink twice adjusting to his reaction.
”You wanna do all that now?” I ask him.
”Why not? If that means I get to spend the rest of my life with your crazy ass? Definitely,” Jay agrees.
A smile morphs on my face and I jump up to get my phone.
I dial my mom’s number.
”Ma, it’s Adri. We’ve gotta make some plans...”

Part 59 - Something is wrong...
Tumblr media
"We did it...We got the second book, Loki !", you cheered.
Loki smiled in triumph. Then the smile disappeared.
"Where are we ?", he asked in confusion.
You also looked around. Your eyes soon widened.
"Oh no...", you whispered. _________________________________________
WARNING!: Mentions of Blood, Organs, Deaths, Body parts, Abuse + Dark!Cursed!Asgard!!!! You have been warned ! Enjoy.
Loki looked at you.
"What is it ? Where are we ?", he asked you confused.
"We aren't in OUR timeline. Why did it take us here ?", you asked yourself.
"It is YOUR Magic ! I don't know !"
You turned to him and glared at him.
"My Magic isn't under my control ! It is free and not caged like you cage yours ! It brings me to places that are in danger ! Something is wrong here !", you yelled angered at him.
Loki looked at you in shock and worry.
"Then where are we and what is wrong ?", he asked.
"I don't know ! I know the timeline tho. And you won't like it...", you warned him.
"Try me."
"We are in the cursed timeline. The one I told Laufey and you about with Loki and Thor fighting and the spell that went wrong. We are in a cave and we need to get out of here and that FAST."
Loki paled at that. The cursed timeline ?
'Oh shit...', was all Loki thought.
SLAP !
Loki stared at space.
"Loki ! There is no time to have another blackout ! We have to find Cursed - Loki ! Only he can help us. Maybe he has a trick for you too. A clue why we are here. SOMETHING. We aren't here without a reason !"
Loki turned his head to you and stared at you, then touched his slapped cheek.
"Did you just slap me ?", he asked in a daze.
You huffed.
"I did and now follow me. We aren't safe in here and I can't teleport for another few hours. My energy was low already in that cave. It damaged me and my Magic. I need time to regain everything."
"That cave we were in...Did it block most of your Magic ?"
"It did. I ripped the last little pieces from deep inside me and now I almost am dead."
"Why didn't you tell me ?! I could have helped !"
"Your sacrifice of your own blood was already draining you too much. I could have killed you, by using your Magic to aid mine. Blood is very important or else it will not work.", you answered simply.
You held his hand and dragged him behind you, searching for the exit. _________________________________________
You were outside of the cave and ran with Loki behind you, as fast as you two could, straight. Soon you reached a path, drunk with blood and decorated with organs. Loki stared at the path in horror.
"Can we NOT go that path ?", Loki whispered at you in fear.
"We have to. It will bring us to Cursed - Loki and we can plan. Something IS wrong and he probably has the answers."
Loki whimpered at that horror - path, but followed you. Soon you reached the Palace of Asgard. It was terrifying. It was black and every single spark of gold looked like it was washed away.
The closer you both got, the more he saw some damaged walls and blood smeared on them. When he looked up, he wished he didn't.
Why ?
Above him hung body parts, organs and other disgusting things.
You poked his side and he snapped his head at you.
"Look at me and in front of you, never anywhere else. Remember that it is just kind of a bad dream, Loki.", you told him softly.
Loki was beyond spooked. He nodded and tried his best to listen to your advice. Keyword: Tried. Loki failed, too scared that something will jump on him. He felt stalked. Like someone was watching you both. He was beyond scared.
"Dest...Someone is watching. I feel eyes on me...", he whispered shakily.
"Thor probably. We are almost there, Loki. Stay near me."
Loki nodded and took your hand.
You led him into the Palace and Loki looked even more terrified. More blood, more organs, body parts and also corpses. All his people. He was ready to faint any second. You pulled him after you harsher, faster walking too.
"What is it ?", Loki whispered.
"We don't have much time left. The clock will soon chime and then Cursed - Loki will awaken, like the rest. Thor is mostly awake and still asleep. Cursed - Loki can talk into Cursed - Thor's head that he imagined that, if we reach his room now. Before the clock chimes."
"In other words...we have to hurry."
"Exactly."
The two of you speed - walked into a room soon and you slammed the door. You looked at Loki.
"Stay here. I will look for Cursed - Loki.", you told him.
Loki nodded and looked around nervously. You left him and went into the bedroom, looking at the bed. Cursed - Loki was still there and asleep, but he looked really bad.
Loki yelped as the clock chimed darkly.

(Whatever you chose for a sound the last time.)
You went to Cursed - Loki's bedside and knelt down, waiting for him to awaken. You ran your fingers through his blood - crusted hair. Soon he awoke and sat up slowly. He 'looked' around and then at you.
".....Destiny ?", he asked.
You smiled.
"It's been a while, hasn't it ? How are you my friend ?", you asked him.
"It has been a little while, yes. I am well, but....what are you doing here ?", he asked worried.
"Well, I do not know. My Magic brought us here. Something must be wrong here. Otherwise we wouldn't be here."
"We ?"
"Loki and me. We are hunting books down, to safe his and my timeline. Odin...he tempered with us all and will kill us all, if I do not do anything."
Cursed - Loki then stiffened.
"Thor is coming. You need to hide. NOW.", he told you.
You jumped up and ran into the sitting room of Cursed - Loki's. You grabbed Loki's hand and pulled him into the secret, hidden room.
"Be silent. Cursed - Thor is coming. Cursed - Loki warned me. Do not make even one peep.", you warned.
Loki nodded, afraid of talking right now.
You both jumped as the door flew open with great force to Cursed - Loki's chambers.
"LOKI !!! Where is the food !!!", Cursed - Thor's voice yelled loudly.
"Well, Good Morning to you too, Thor. What food ? I didn't see anyone alive entering my chambers.", Cursed - Loki's voice replied.
"I saw !"
"I would have seen that first. Maybe you still dreamed ? You just woke up, Brother. Your unsatisfied hunger is getting to you.", Cursed - Loki suggested.
"I...I guess you are right...But I will keep my eyes on you. If I catch you with anyone living I will beat you up again. Got it ?", Cursed - Thor threatened in a growling voice.
"Yes Thor. I get it.", Cursed - Loki answered bored.
You could hear the eye roll in Cursed - Loki's voice. You smirked at that.
Cursed - Thor huffed and then slammed the door of his chambers. You and Loki heard footsteps. Then the door opened softly and after a few minutes the door closed again. Then the footsteps got distant and after mere 15 minutes they returned.
"You can come out. He is gone. You two are safe.", Cursed - Loki said softly.
You opened the door and Loki followed you out of the room. Soon you were in Cursed - Loki's bedroom and sat all down on his bed. Then Loki looked up and at him. He paled and then fainted.
"Oh dear. Is he dead ?", Cursed - Loki asked worried.
"Nah. He just fainted in shock. He never saw anything like you before."
Cursed - Loki hummed.
"A first time thing, huh ?", he asked.
"Yes. Just for the books."
"What book do you search ?"
"The Magical book of Life."
Cursed - Loki hummed in thoughts and was quiet for some time.
"Never heard of it...", he then answered.
"I thought so. What happened ? Something is wrong and I want to hear, what exactly it could be."
Cursed - Loki 'looked' at you and then sighed.
"Odin...he...he hid the book for so long...Everything is getting even worse."
"Where is the book ? Did you find it ?"
"Yes. And Odin is planning to burn it down in a week. He knows that I try to get my fingers on it and because of his crazed out mind already, he doesn't want me to fix my mistake. Mother...she attacked me yesterday and abused me too."
"Oh god, Loki...."
"I know she didn't mean to, but still it was painful. She lost the rest of her humanity too. I am the only one left and because I still fight and act out of character, they don't accept me and try to make me succumb."
"That is not everything that is wrong, right ?", you pressed.
Cursed - Loki shook his head and sighed again.
"No. I am changing too. I lose myself some times now too. I won't last long anymore. Maybe 2 months and then I am gone. Destiny...I need help. I can't do this alone."
You looked at him with worry until realization dawned on you.
"You called me for help. You are desperate and called me. My Magic then brought me here. That is also why and how we came here."
"Maybe. Sadly I did so without knowing and also in a bad time. You already have a lot of things to do."
You smiled at him a sad smile.
"Loki, I am always busy. Every Dimension, Timeline, Existence and Realm busy me. And I have to keep it all going. Not easy, but I manage. So do not blame yourself for calling for me, because I was busy. I always am. And I love to help. That is the only way to survive for me."
Cursed - Loki smiled also at you then. It was terrible, because of all the torn and burned flesh, decorated with scratches and blood, but you knew that if Cursed - Loki wouldn't look so terrible, it would be a thankful, cute smile.
You smiled back and rubbed his damaged left cheek.
"Do not worry. We will fix this. And my Loki will help us."
"Sounds good to me."
He nuzzled your hand and held it with his right hand, softly to not hurt you with his claws.
"Thank you, Destiny.", he murmured.
You smiled at him.
"Always."

chapter 20
Title: Winter's Frost Chapter: 20/? Fandom: MCU Rating: R to be on the safe side Pairing: Loki/Bucky Summary: Loki never told anyone the real reason he became so obsessed with Midgard. Much better to let them think he wanted to hurt his brother than draw their attention to the one thing in the universe that makes the God of Mischief truly vulnerable. WARNINGS: nothing major. A little language, some angry peeps. Notes: Like I said a few chapters back... Fuck the canon.
"They need to know."
Loki flinched, glaring at Bucky over his shoulder. "Not now, love."
"Okay, how did he get out?!"
The bland look Bucky gave Stark made both Loki and Rogers smile. "I was an elite, untraceable super assassin for seventy years. You think I can't pick an interior lock?"
"Didn't you learn how to do that when-"
He grinned. "When I was twelve, because you got your dumb ass locked in the basement at my grandfather's house. Yep. But the other version sounded better."
Rogers laughed. "How much do you remember?"
Bucky's smile immediately faded as he glanced at Stark and then quickly averted his gaze to the floor. "Enough. Too much. Listen, there's something I need-"
"James, don't."
"Nah, let him talk, God of Misfits." With a cold smirk in response to Loki's irritated glare, Stark crossed his arms over his chest, staring him down. "We've heard quite enough from you already. Let lover-boy get a word in."
Ignoring him, Loki turned to face his lover fully and implored, "Don't say it. Trust me, love, it won't end well."
"They deserve to know," was Bucky's quiet, but firm reply as he stepped past him and approached the Avengers. "Stark... There's something I need to tell you about your parents."
"What about them?" Suddenly the quippy billionaire didn't look so amused anymore. He actually looked terrified, and with an unexpected twinge of empathy, Loki remembered that he'd nearly died only a week earlier.
"Really, darling, perhaps later..."
"No." Bucky was shaking his head, but it was Stark who'd spoken, his voice sharp with forced anger and impatience to mask his trepidation. "Shut the hell up and let him talk, or I'll hand you both over to this Thanos guy myself."
"There is nothing you can do to me if I don't allow-" A firm grip on his shoulder stopped him, and he turned to see his adoptive brother staring at him.
"Loki. Will you continue to silence him, the way they did? Trade a literal muzzle for a metaphorical one?"
He shrugged Thor's hand off with an impatient snarl, but didn't speak again. He hated it when that moron had a point! With an apologetic look to his beloved and a resigned flourish of his hand, he spun on his heel and walked away. He didn't leave the room, but he did move to the far wall so as to let Bucky see that he was no longer in Loki's protective shadow.
The sad, grateful half-smile he received nearly made him weep. Then Bucky sucked in a deep breath, squared his shoulders, and told Stark as gently as he could, "HYDRA had them killed."
"When you say HYDRA," Stark began slowly, visibly shaking. "You mean..."
Bucky nodded. "They sent me." He closed his eyes. At first, it looked as though the conversation was causing him pain, but then Loki noticed the tension in his muscles and the way he moved his feet just a bit farther apart; he was bracing himself.
He did it just in time. Tears in his eyes and body still shaking, Stark still managed to put a surprising amount of force behind his punch. Bucky's head snapped to the side, though Loki knew that was less from the impact and more to keep Stark from injuring his hand too badly; he threw so much of his weight behind that punch that, if Bucky hadn't moved, he would have broken his hand.
"What the fuck is your jaw made of?! Jesus!"
"I'm a super soldier," he explained calmly as he opened his eyes, ignoring the look of numb shock on Rogers' face. Keeping his gaze locked on Stark, who stood shaking his bruised fist and gaping at him, he told him, "The first time HYDRA caught me, they shot me up with their version of the serum Erskine used on Steve. I didn't know what it was then, but it didn't take long to figure it out. But it was inefficient; there were others they tested it on, but I was the only one who survived, as far as I know. After the War, they didn't have access to their scientist or his research, so they sent me to retrieve the newest batch of the serum from the Americans... From Howard Stark."
"And you couldn't have stolen it without killing him – them?! Why did my mom have to die?"
From his position behind him, Loki couldn't see the tears in Bucky's eyes, but he could hear them in his voice as he croaked, "'Sanction and extract; no witnesses.' When I'm given an order, I can't refuse it. I don't even get to decide how to carry it out; I took the first opportunity, eliminated the witnesses, and took the prize back to base."
Stark lunged for Bucky again, but Rogers quickly caught him around the waist and held tight. "Those 'witnesses' were my parents, Barnes!"
"I know." Bucky nodded, head drooping as he stared at the floor again. "They were an innocent woman and a man I liked. They sent me to kill a man I'd known during the War; a man I admired and respected."
"And you didn't even fucking pause, did you?!"
"That's quite enough, Stark." Loki pushed himself off the wall, about to step between them again. He stopped when Bucky held his hand up for him to do so, but didn't keep quiet. "He was never given a choice. And I don't mean that in the soft 'the options before him were unpleasant' way you people like to use it in; I mean literally. With weaponized science, his ability to choose, to even think beyond weapons and strategy, was stripped from him."
"Loki, I don't need you to defend me."
"Well, someone ought to!" Oh, delightful. Now he had tears in his eyes. Both hands clenched into tight fists, he glared at Stark because he couldn't bear to look at Bucky for the moment. "I know a thing or two about being a pawn in someone else's game, Anthony, but even I had the luxury of unpleasant options. Do as I was told and be ridiculed for how I went about it, or be ridiculed for refusing? Watch Asgard fall into ruin, or delay my brash, violent brother's coronation and be villainized for it? Always a choice, even if the choices before me were painful. Can you even imagine someone using machinery and hypnosis to dig around inside your brain and push down and strip away everything that makes you who you are, until you know nothing but the mission they present to you? I've seen a large portion of the Sergeant's scrambled and suppressed memories, and they frightened me. Me. With the notable exception of my brother and the beast, I could eliminate all of you right now if I so chose, and what HYDRA did to James frightened me. He did not murder your parents, Stark. HYDRA did. And they used a friend of your father's to do it."
Stark actually appeared to be calming slightly; he still looked as though he wanted to rip Bucky apart, but the tension was leaving his muscles and his breathing grew less labored. Then Bucky had to go and open his big mouth again.
"There's more. Steve... You might wanna sit down."
"Good Gods, James! Quit while you're ahead!"
With a half-hearted chuckle, Bucky attempted to joke, "Is this what 'ahead' looks like? Guess I've been out longer than I thought."

22. Cruci-fiction in Space
...  Loki   ...
Nearly a week has passed where the mortal has either studied theoretical magic or been wandering around the palace with her "servant" in tow in the hope of establishing a sense of direction. Hopefully soon, she can roam freely in search of socialization which in turn will result in information and allies.
Today, they're sitting in one of the gardens, [Y/N] with a heavy book in lap and furrowed brows while Loki simply enjoys the smell of the grass as they sit side by side on the bench. Odd, he muses, to be comfortable with someone in silence like this. As much as it entertains the Jotun to tease the woman – and as much as he lusts for her – it seems impossible to ever tire simply of watching her. He finds her breathtaking in the candlelight as she sits and talks about her new knowledge, and she is stunning now as the sun highlights an infinity of shades in her hair and the eyes squint towards the written pages. Sometimes, the plump lips free a mumble (most often a foreign word), capturing Loki's attention and binding it.
"Ah, here you are, lady [Y/N]!"
The loud interruption startles the lady in question but she smiles as soon as Fandral emerges from behind a lilac bush, carelessly breaking a cluster of flowers off to present her with. Gah! Sickening. But of course the Midgardian plays her part and inhales the sweet scent.
"Have you been searching for me, lord Fandral?"
"My entire life."
Groooaaaan! Playing the silent part, Loki has to bite his cheek from betraying his thoughts.
"Prince Thor has returned to Asgard," the blond man explains, "which means there will be a grand feast tonight his lengthy absence...I was hoping you would accompany me?"
She will not!
"Gladly." [Y/N]'s smile hasn't wavered for a second since the suitor's arrival. "Only...I must have completed this chapter before then..."
"Say no more! I shall leave you to your studies, happy with the promise you have given me."
Yes, run away, scoundrel! Oh, Loki hates not being free to go in his old friend's stead and the burning jealousy has no relation to the reason for the feast. But for the Warriors Three to side with our cause...I'll suffer through it.
...  Reader   ...
You have to admit: it feels amazing to have a man straight up woo you like in the romance novels you sometimes used to read. It's flattering. And a welcome distraction considering your life has turned into a tight rope act.
It's with your nerves on the sleeves, you enter the great hall and the cacophony of merriment – even if dinner isn't served yet, most Asgardians have already found something to drink and constantly do so to each others' health when they meet friends or at least anyone they care enough about – above all of which a new voice booms. Zeroing in on the sound, you spot Thor next to Fandral and the rest of Sif’s gang.
Unsure what to do, you take your time weaving between people before you halt a good ten yards away. I could...or maaaybe...but if I walk over...nah...The train of thought isn't exactly coherent as you silently debate what to do. Sif, Volstag, well all of them have become sort of acquaintances over the course of the week you've stayed in Valhalla and you wouldn't hesitate interrupting them if need be. But now? That's Loki's brother. And you don't believe the God of Mischief when he claims he "has no care" or says "he is and never was my brother". If only they could get a chance to talk...oh.
Sudden inspiration spurs you on and with head held high you march straight up to Fandral. "This time I found you first, my lord."
"Lucky me!"
Perhaps the sensation of Thor scrutinizing your face is pure imagination at first, still the moment you’re officially introduced to him, those blue eyes light up with understanding and he grabs your shoulders so suddenly your knees almost buckle.
“[Y/N]! From New York? I knew it!” Whether or not you’re supposed to answer remains a mystery as he pulls you into a rib-crunching hug. “Lady Aïsha came to us, claiming my br-Loki had abducted you, but we had nothing but her word to go on...no clue where he would have taken you if it were true...”
Managing to tap out of the muscular arms, a sharp edge of guilt burns through you at the idea of your neighbour having gone to the Avengers for help. And getting none. Last you saw her, she’d been soaked in her own blood on your living room floor. Alive, yes, and most likely traumatized after having been killed by a god and resurrected by a supposedly normal girl.
“How is she?”
“Aïsha? Fine. Mr. Stark saw to it that she was given the assistance needed.” The prince’s brows wrinkle as he look you over (slightly crumbled now but obviously in good condition). “And I find you in good health, even studying the arts of magic under my dear mother’s tutelage...how have you come to be here?”
Thor is not the only one staring at you for answers, and you don’t really blame Fandral or his friends as you haven’t exactly told them where you come from. Sif glares with obvious distrust while the men, in particular the blond admirer, seem curious more than anything else.
Use the truth. “Loki had hoped to use my abilities in some scheme or other...” You allow a sigh to underline the past tense. “But...as it turns out, I wasn’t able to do that and he left...at least he didn’t kill me. Since then, I’ve tried to make my way to safety and I consider myself lucky to have wound up here.”
“And I have it on good authority lady [Y/N] is excelling at her studies,” Fandral beams, fingers carefully skimming your back.
Any hope of getting to talk with Thor about his brother or events back on Earth are quickly dashed as the prince is called away, his attention constantly shifting as noble Asgardians nearly stand in line for a chat or whatever semi-immortals do.
The four friends carry on their usual partying with only a few odd questions about your past interspersed through the conversation. Fandral lets no opportunity slip by to court you, his hands often straying to brush away stray hairs from your cheek or simply touch your arm, shoulder, or back which sends uncomfortable shiver running along your spine.
It’s possibly the longest feast in history (at least as far as you know). Unable to relax, and forgoing the sweet mead, you’re grateful when it finally becomes late enough for you to say goodnight without coming off as rude.
“Allow me to walk you to your chambers, m’lady.” Fandral is already on his feet, offering a hand to help you up.
Ugh, no, not now. “That’s very kind...though I do believe I need some solitude.” Four pairs of eyes bore into you, silently demanding justifications for the wish. “A lot is on my mind...speaking with Prince Thor has brought back memories...”
“Say no more, sweetling,” Fandral’s assurances nearly make you gag, “but know that if ever an open heart or a listening ear is what you need: I’m there.”
Sif actually rolls her eyes behind his back. Maybe I can get her sympathy that way? Rather than commit to anything, though, you say goodnight once more and finally extract yourself from the noisy hall.
It’s blissfully quiet in the halls of Valhalla. Here and there, a guard dressed in the pompous, golden armour – Loki keeps calling them Einherjar – stands in brooding silence. They don’t interfere anymore after Queen Frigga officially welcomed you to the court and as extension placed you under their protection.
I’m like a princess in a fairy tale.
Almost magically, you’ve managed to recover a good mood by the time you close the chamber door behind you. Then you turn and find Loki standing, glaring at you with his arms crossed and red shimmer in the perfect eye.
Pulling back the lips to reveal white teeth, he sneers, “Enjoying the company tonight?”

Thoughts on loki x sylvie
oh boy... okay I feel like this is an extremely unpopular opinion (though i haven't been checking what people were saying at all but still), so pls proceed with caution and remember that it's just my thoughts which i'm allowed to think
Honestly, I don't really care about loki x sylvie that much as I care about Loki himself because to me the Loki which I've loved ever since the first moment we saw him, that Loki is gone or destroyed in the show, pick your fave. Like, he's always been my favourite, even during his worst moments, there was always something about him that made me go 'my son, that idiot boy of mine'. I just love villains, I love morally grey characters, and idk how it happened, but in the middle of the show I lost that connection with him, which has always been there. I lost that mischievous spark I've always felt with him, and from one side I understand that the show had its story which led from one thing to another and it made sense, but at the same time I was just so sad because I blinked and I couldn't recognise my favourite character anymore.
Was it because of Sylvie? Maybe. I think she definitely played her part in that and maybe Loki becoming such character was bound to happen no matter who his romantic interest was, but basically all I do is mourn my dumbass son in the last couple of episodes of the show. I'm sure he'll return in some way but for me the damage is done.
As for them as a couple, I know people have been jumping to extremes with some selfcest or shit like that and honestly I think its just some special kind of reaching and people need to chill. (I have a big problem with fans trying to justify a fantasy world with extremely fantastic elements with a real world logic, but that's another topic which i have a lot of thoughts on.) But do I think their couple was necessary? Nah, I think they could've worked very well without a romantic plot, and honestly I'd be happy if they ditch it in the future. But right now my priority is Loki as a character.

Caught in his web, Chapter 46
Chloe was curled up on Loki’s lap while they watched TV. It was mid-afternoon, but Loki was working from home that day and decided to finish early. Cause he could.
They’d tired Bear out previously, so he was sound asleep in his bed next to the sofa. Giving them some peace and quiet for an hour or two, if they were lucky. He was going through his mad phase.
Loki was absentmindedly stroking Chloe’s hair, she was revelling in the affection. While she enjoyed the sex and orgasms that Loki could give her, she really enjoyed moments like this. Where he was just cuddling her and being affectionate. It made her heart happy.
‘Are you meeting Georgie and Amanda this weekend?’ Loki asked quietly during the adverts.
Chloe shook her head. ‘Nah, no plans to. I think Georgie has family from Australia coming over for a few weeks so I might not see much of her out-with college… Why? Are you wanting rid of me?’ Chloe tilted her head right back to look at him.
Loki chuckled and gave her knee a squeeze. ‘Of course not, doll. Ben and David are coming over tomorrow, they’re staying for dinner and I wanted to make sure you were going to be around to join us.’ He smiled.
‘You’re not gonna be talking business all night though, are you?’ She grumbled.
‘No business talk.’ He grinned, rubbing her back.
‘Sounds good then.’ She snuggled back in against him.
‘I’m glad you think so.’ He purred, the hand on her knee slid upwards, underneath her skirt. She squirmed on his lap as he tickled up her inner thigh. ‘Spread your legs for me, doll.’
Chloe trembled at his tone and did as he asked. She almost melted into a puddle as his hand dove down into her knickers and he started playing with her softly. Relaxing into him, she closed her eyes and sighed in pleasure.
‘I could do this all night.’ Loki purred, nuzzling her cheek. He grinned when she whimpered and blushed. ‘Does that sound appealing to you, doll?’
She clutched at his shirt tightly and bit her lip. ‘Pleaseeee don’t torture me tonight.’ She whined.
Loki chuckled. ‘Aww, why not? That is my most favourite thing to do.’ He hummed, slowing his circling of her clit down with his thumb as two fingers slowly slid into her, rubbing against her g spot in a torturous manner.
‘Lokiiiii!’ She tried pushing down more on his fingers, but he didn’t go any faster. It was a delicious kind of torture that was slowly building. He knew how to do her so well, hitting all the right places. And he knew when she was close to cumming, so he slowed down even more and dragged it out further.
‘Please, Loki. Please.’ She begged.
‘Hmmm. I suppose since you do beg so prettily you should be rewarded.’ He squeezed her side as he picked up the pace with his fingers, going to town on her g spot and clit.
Chloe cried out as Loki made her cum. Her toes curled as she clenched her thighs together, trapping his hand, but it didn’t stop him from continuing to stimulate her through her orgasm. He slowed his movements down as her entire body shook in pleasure.
Pressing a kiss to her forehead, he kept stroking her softly. She whimpered and buried her face into his chest.
‘Do you want me to stop?’
‘No!’ She gasped, it felt far too good. It wasn’t too rough or fast, he was stroking her nicely. It felt so good.
Loki grinned and granted her wish. He kept it up for a while, slowly working up to another orgasm. And again, and again. But he never pushed her too hard by making her orgasm straight after another, he gave her time to come down from the high. He kept the stimulation at just the right tempo, nice and gentle.
Chloe felt like she was flying high, like the pleasure was deep down inside her, even in her bones. Part of her never wanted it to end.
Loki was quite enjoying himself. He enjoyed the way she was squirming in his lap, softly moaning and whimpering, it ramped up whenever he made her cum. The way her face was flushed red, forehead sweaty. But what he also loved, was how wet she was. And more was still flowing out of her, the longer her toyed with her.
When he slowed down and eventually stopped, she was so sensitive and still feeling extremely horny. He removed his hand from down her knickers and sucked his fingers clean, grinning wickedly at her as she blushed.
‘You taste delicious.’ He purred.
-
The following day, Chloe offered to make her carbonara for dinner. Loki jumped at the offer and sent Tania home early.
Loki circled his arms around Chloe and kissed the tip of her nose. ‘As a thank you for cooking dinner, I will personally see to it that you get plenty of orgasms at bed time tonight.’ He grinned.
‘Oh, you’ll personally see to it, will you? Who else would do it anyway?’ She grinned back up at him.
Loki opened his mouth, but then realised he hadn’t expected a back chat like that so for once didn’t know what to say. Chloe laughed and pulled away from his hold, checking they had everything in the cupboards for making the carbonara.
But Loki followed and kept trying to hold her, she managed to get her way round the kitchen and mentally took note of everything she needed. Even with Loki kissing her neck, she managed to stay focused.
‘Well, if you’re wanting carbonara you’re going to need to let me go to the shop. We don’t have the main ingredient, chicken!’ She giggled and tried escaping him again as his kissing became sloppy on her neck. But he grabbed her wrist and hauled her back into him.
‘There’s plenty of time. I’m sure we could get a quick one in first.’ He suggested, but then his mobile rang. He growled in annoyance, but had to take it.
Chloe patted his chest. ‘I won’t be long.’
‘Take Nelson if you want.’ Loki said quickly before answering.
‘It’s a nice day, I’ll walk and take Bear.’ Chloe called to him over her shoulder as she headed out.
Luckily their local shop was just a fifteen-minute walk away and it allowed well behaved dogs in. So Chloe called on Bear, clipped on his lead and headed out.
She was just at the end of the path when a car pulled up and David got out.
‘Hello, darling.’ He greeted and made his way over to her.
‘Hey, you’re nice and early.’ She said as David crouched down to pet an excitable Bear first.
‘Loki wanted to discuss a few things, told me that you said business is strictly off during dinner.’ David chuckled and stood up, giving Chloe a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
‘Nice that you greet the dog first.’ She teased.
‘Of course. Bear is too cute to resist.’ He winked at her and gave her shoulder a squeeze. ‘Where you off to?’
‘Nipping to the shop for a few things for dinner tonight. I won’t be too long, so you best get the business chat over with!’ Chloe said as she continued on.
‘I’ll make sure we’re all finished for your return.’ David laughed.
Chloe enjoyed her walk to the shop, it was a nice day and she just felt so at peace and happy with everything right now. She hadn’t been bothered by her father in a while, Stones was not a bother anymore. College was going well. Yep, she was in a pretty good place.
Even though she didn’t need much, she took a trolley anyway so Bear could lie in it while she did her shop. It wasn’t really allowed, but the shop owner adored Bear so made the exception for her. It was good socialisation for him too, as many people wanted to stop and speak to him.
She was queuing at the till when someone tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around to find Ben smiling down at her. ‘I thought that was you! The puppy in the trolley kind of gave it away, too.’ Ben chuckled.
‘Hi, Ben. Yeah, is a bit of a giveaway.’ She laughed.
‘How are you, love?’ Ben put his arm around her and kissed her cheek.
‘Good thanks, you?’
‘I’m very well. Excited to finally get to taste this chicken carbonara of yours.’ He grinned.
‘That’s exactly why I’m here. Needed ingredients.’
It was Chloe’s turn at the till, but Ben took the divider from her things and his away. ‘Allow me to get this for you.’
‘There’s no need.’
‘It would be my pleasure.’ He insisted.
‘Thank you… Loki pays for it anyway.’ She shrugged, laughing.
Ben laughed too. ‘Well, this one is on me anyway.’
Ben even took her shopping bags for her, like the perfect gentleman.
‘Hop in.’ He said as he walked over to his car.
‘I don’t mind walking.’
‘Ah come on. I insist. Besides, there’s a lot of bags here. And it would be silly since we’re both going to yours.’ He said as he put all the bags into the boot and then opened the passenger door for her.
‘True.’ She agreed and got in with Bear on her lap.
-
‘Hmm, I think we could likely help him out. We are due another shipment of girls in soon.’ Loki said as he and David were in his office, discussing business.
‘He is willing to pay big for good quality. And I mean big. We’re talking well into the thousands, just for one girl. Seems rather desperate, actually. He seems to have a thing for having twenty-four-hour slave girls, apparently the current one has grown too old at twenty-two.’ David said, cringing.
‘So, he might become a regular then.’ Loki chuckled.
‘Possibly.’ David nodded.
‘Alright, let’s see if he’s interested in going into business with us.’ Loki agreed, then turned to his laptop to type out an email to the man in question.
The two men went through to the kitchen and grabbed a drink. Loki checked his watch. ‘Hmm. Chloe should’ve been back by now, she was biting at the bit to get cooking.’ He frowned, it was after five.
‘I’m surprised Ben isn’t here yet either, you know what like. Never late that guy. What time did you tell him?’ David asked, sitting down on the stool at the island in the kitchen.
‘I said five.’ Loki hummed.

Y/N had forgotten what it was like to wake up in someone’s arms.
She had forgotten many of the intimacies of relationships, the simple domestic acts that made all the difference to a person’s day.
Intimacies like him trying to make her breakfast in bed (the emphasis being put on the word ‘trying’, it had very quickly been agreed that the cooking would remain in her hands), the way he’d refuse to leave for work until he had gotten a kiss from her, how he’d do the dishes for her since he knew that they were her least favourite chores.
All the different, sweet actions that made a relationship feel real.
But waking up in David’s arms. That was something else entirely.
Yeah, David had a presence that made Y/N feel safe and secure no matter what but… waking up in his arms and being held by him, that was a feeling of security that Y/N could have only dreamed of having after her years of living constantly on edge with Caspar.
Y/N was scared to do anything even in the comfort of her own home (not that being home brought her any comfort by the end) and a little of that fear had managed to board her plane to Pennsylvania with her. But with David with her she felt as though she could take on the world.
She felt like she could actually be herself.
“You awake?” His voice was raspy, laced with sleep and exhaustion from having been spending so long working on his last case. It had been a struggle for Y/N to convince him to sleep and she was glad that he was finally beginning to manage it.
“Yeah - didn’t want to wake you up,” she explained, switching off her phone and reaching over to place it back on the bedside table before rolling over.
David’s arms tightened a little around her, nuzzling his face into her neck.
“Why?”
“You need to sleep, Dave,” she whispered.
“Much rather be awake with you,” he declared, the words a little muffled from being spoken against her skin.
“You’re a sap.”
“I’m intimidating,” David insisted, pouting a little, nestling even closer to her.
“Even I’m not scared by you,” Y/N pointed out, her fingers lifting to pull through his hair, messy from sleep. “And I’m scared of everyone,” her voice lowered as though she was sharing a secret with him and she could hear David laugh against her skin in response to her words.
“Yeah, but you’re different.”
“Hm?” David let out a content sigh and pressed a kiss to her exposed collar bone.
“You’re different to anyone I’ve ever met before.”
///
The previous six months had been hard to say the least.
Since the tearful night that they had spent together in the bakery the day David accidentally stood her up, they had been working on it. Working through everything together.
Y/N had tried to talk about Caspar, through sobs and anger she tried to explain who he was, what he did to her.
She told him about the first time he hit her.
That had been the first time that David hugged her, seeming unable to keep apart from her, desperately wanting to try his best to hold her together.
They fell asleep together that night on the floor of the bakery, Y/N’s head rested on his chest and David’s arms around her.
Of course they had both been stiff when they woke up the following morning and a little cold from the snow outside, but it was the best Y/N had slept in over a year.
The first time she had felt safe in over a year.
It had taken a little while for the full details to be disclosed. Weeks of little hints being dropped by Y/N to the full extent of her trauma, of her being launched into panic attacks if David would say or do something that brought back a repressed memory for her.
Weeks of her apologising to David for something that wasn’t at all her fault.
Each time that David would unintentionally have that effect on Y/N, she could see him beginning to beat himself up over it. He would calm her down, make sure she was okay and disappear for the rest of the day. Y/N knew it was so that she could have space to calm down properly, but she also knew that it was so that David could scold himself quietly.
Though, while it took Y/N weeks to divulge the details of her abusive past, it took David months to confess his own fucked up childhood.
It was on the anniversary of his parents death.
David hadn’t been in the bakery all day. He always still came in every day for a cup of coffee, a baked good and a chat with Y/N, even going so far as hanging around until she was free to sit and talk with him for a little bit. But that day he hadn’t been in even for just a five minute chat.
He did arrive, though, ten minutes to closing time. His hair was dishevelled, his eyes were tired and he fell into Y/N’s arms, which were open and waiting, clearly picking up on his complete defeat with the day.
Y/N had closed early, apologising to the people who were in the cafe still but knowing that David just needed her.
David had cried in front of her for the first time that evening, explaining what happened to him. It was as though, for the first time, he was truly coming to terms with all of the shit he was put through as a kid after his parents died, growing up in the boy’s home.
Y/N held him as he spoke, the words continuing to spout from him, unable to stop them from escaping now that he had allowed them to be spoken. Everything from his past up and out in the air. She held him as he fell apart and put himself back together.
Everything was a little easier after that night.
After they knew the darkest parts of each other, the trauma that lurked beneath the surface for both of them. The sadness that hid behind their smiles.
To say it was simple would be a gross exaggeration. Nothing had been simple about their relationship from the day that they met. They were broken and dysfunctional and in dire need of being saved.
But it was easier to fix themselves with each other than it was to fall apart alone.
///
Y/N Y/L/N still saw the world in black and blue.
The black of David’s damp hair, messy and tangled from having just gotten out of the show, scented of her shampoo which he had had to use because he forgot to buy his own.
The black of his tattoos, decorating his skin, a reminder of a life that he left behind, the past he wanted so badly to forget. But decorations that Y/N adored and often found herself tracing when her fingers could make contact with his bare skin.
The black of his coat, which he would regularly shrug off and give to her, the comforting aroma always serving to comfort her.
The blue of his eyes, which Y/N found to be too often clouded with worry or hazy with sleep, but would light up and sparkle with laughter when she’d say something dumb or invite him to join her as she baked.
The blue of the blanket he had brought from his apartment the day that her heating broke and he was coming over for dinner, a huge, fuzzy, fluffy thing that completely swamped the two of them. Y/N had expressed her love for the soft blanket and, despite David’s own adoration for it, he had left it for her when he went to work the next day, insisting that she could keep it.
The blue of the spotty mugs he had bought her to replace the one that he accidentally broke. He had turned up the next day with a pack of four blue and white dotted mugs and given them to her with an apologetic look on his face in spite of her assurances that it was okay.
Yeah, Y/N Y/L/N still saw the world in black and blue.
But, the truth was, Black and Blue didn’t seem so sinister anymore.
