We know Adaine isn’t fond of the attention her job as oracle brings her, but what if Adaine’s visions were more of a problem?

like imagine she often blacks out when they happen, and if they’re longer, she has no recollection of what was happening while she was having the vision.

that’d bring a tooon of issues; first off, she probably couldn’t drive from the risk of visions obstructing her driving, and she’d probably have to be careful doing honestly anything that involved very careful or dangerous actions bc of the risk of blacking out.

not only that but the social aspects too— like what if she’s giving a presentation in class and she just freezes, mouth open and eyes glowing for a second, then comes back to and her teachers asking her all about what she saw and her classmates and just staring and someone snickers and she can feel her face go hot and bright red with embarrassment. She gets an A on content but a B on delivery bc she just can’t seem to compose herself after that.

and she probably gets different reactions from everyone. She doesn’t mind the curious or neutral reactions, like Sandra Lynn or Riz have. She appreciates that Kristen just slaps her on the back and keeps going with her day, and that Gorgug or Riz sometimes give a little blow by her ear to help bring her back to her senses; little neutral things of help that don’t hold any lingering acknowledgement, but she gets sooooo annoyed at the reactions poorly hiding bits concern that she gets from Fig, and weirdly enough, Fabian.

Fabian is somewhat of someone who’s always very close to people, and everyone knows that Fig will be right next to— if not on top— of you at all times. Adaine has to keep herself from clenching her teeth when one of them keep a stabilizing hand under her shoulder after she blacks out, for just a minute too long.

Card of the day: The Raccoon and Sycamore (from the Woodland Wardens oracle deck by @jessicasroux).

I've always felt a kinship with raccoons and there were a lot of them living in the woods around our house growing up. I love their curious natures, and it is that aspect that is represented in this card. I believe that curiosity is one of the most powerful traits we can have. When used for good, it builds bridges between different cultures, it sparks innovation in science, and can help lead us down spiritual paths that provide us with solace and community.

The Bad Kids: Doubt or Certainty

So we all know of Fig and Kristen's allegiances to Ankarna and Cassandra, but I want to throw my hat in the ring about the other four bad kids.

Gorgug: In my mind, he is the clearest towards Cassandra. His doubt in his abilities is a clear example of this fact but in that doubt, he finds clarity in situations. He was somewhat the first to break out of the nightmare king's illusions and his line of "It's Gorgug, keep going" is not of righteousness but instead of doubt. That it's okay to be scared but I'm here holding your hand. That is exactly what Cassandra means in the world of spyre. (I will give a shout out to Paladin Gorgug au on ao3 which was a wonderful view of Gorgug as a champion of Ankarna. Really good stuff and helped me figure out my opinions on Gorgug's placement.)

Fabian: The other easier decision for me is Fabian towards Ankarna. Not in the violent aspects of her but in understanding and fairness. He wanted his father to understand him, to know him, to remove the doubt and mystery of how his father views him. He also channeled Ankarna well when he was defending Mazey and he is a very sure character, even if it is to his own detriment. He is sure in himself and especially in his friends and his own loyalty and that combo of Ankarna's old self and new self is most clearly seen in Fabian in Junior Year.

Adaine: Her and Riz were the hardest for me but I'm going to ultimately put her in the Cassandra camp. Not just because she is an oracle but because she spreads doubt in all that she does. Doubting her parents and their care for her and her sister. Doubt in the institutions she was involved in as the elven oracle. The most important part of that is that she shines a light on what needs to be questioned, and needs to be solved so that everyone is set to right. Out of all of the bad kids I feel like she can represent both deities the best but for the sake of my analysis I think she is more aligned to Cassandra.

Riz: The hardest to figure out and again like Adaine is a good balance of both but I am going to slot him in with Fabian and Fig in drawing on Ankarna's ideals. Yes, he focuses on mystery and puzzles but his drive and conviction in doing so speaks louder and closer to who he is at the end of the day. He fights for people to get what they deserve and that no one should remain a mystery. He is the maddest in the world and other NPCs like Kipperlily when they aren't playing fair. Fairness is so important to him and when that is broken he goes nuts. That rage and his ideas of conviction and justice in my mind make him more aligned with Ankarna.

An oracle au, like in the greek sense or something more modern? I'm intrigued. I had an idea once about Stiles being a sort of prophet and he received some of his most valuable visions after sex with Derek. A lack of some sort is strong with this collection. Lack of confidence, control, belief. You’ve probably been impatient in your journey and facing some delays. You’re feeling angry for not getting anywhere and this is pulling you deep into overall pessimistic thoughts about shifting and everything in general. Your self esteem could be suffering too.

How does Mars square Uranus in Synastry play out? 🔥

This aspect like all Mars squares can cause a passionate magnetic attraction but can also cause chaos as Uranus (Aquarius ) is the planet of upheaval, sudden events, freedom and what is unconventional. When you see someone's Uranus in hard aspect to any of your personal planets expect this connection to be anything but stable, in fact expect the unexpected and keep your head on a swivel and your witt's about you. Mars (Aries) is how we fight, assert our energy, go after what we want, and our sex drive. Mars/Uranus in soft aspect (sextile/trine) can bring a dynamic that is passionate, exciting and energizing for both individuals. The Uranus person adds motivating value to the Mars persons life. I was expecting to have a great time reading these fics. I did not expect to be completely blown away by how intriguing the plot is, how well-written the characters are, or how ingenious the timeline shenanigans are. And did I mention how funny they are?

When I lay down to sleep at night, I like to pretend that this wasn’t the last Aspects chapter and in fact this series will go on forever.

But seriously, we’re so lucky to have such a wonderful ending to this series. Tash introduced a brand new character that somehow feels so familiar and yet the more I learned about him, the more I wanted to keep reading. Aspects of an Aspect was the culmination of a little over a year (!) of building up to this moment, and the story development still surprised me - not because of an explosive plot twist, but rather by exposing a different lens through which we can understand Wild’s purpose.

Like all other pieces of this collection - it was full of heart, humor, and lots of love. Giant cat men, you will always be famous.

I'm sure there are people who like it and they're valid. And though it may very well be damning to my point, I admit Dick leaving Bruce and becoming Nightwing in a completely amicable way is how it was originally.

But I am like, super not into that. It's so much more interesting when the break-up was messy and even toxic. I'm not saying they should stay enemies forever and ever - I am a noted fan of Batman Beyond's "Bruce eventually drives away literally everyone", but that's just one canon and IMO not the only interesting way for the future to go - I just think that at least at the start of his career as an independent, adult superhero, that drama between Dick and Bruce is good shit and gives them an arc to work through. All the better if part of what brings them back to friendly terms is Jason's death.

I also think it's kinna lame to have Dick just declare out-loud that Bruce kept Dick from becoming like himself. That's a beautiful concept that's evolved within growing interpretations of their relationship and the fascinating contrast between "everyone on some level hates Bruce" and "everyone fucking loves the shit out of Dick". Spelling it out within the text, within actual dialogue, feels so...clumsy and unsubtle.

Or maybe that's only because it's in the context of the amicable split. Like it's kinna weird because if they have this really amazing relationship that's not hitting any rough patches why is there this intensely negative perception of what being like Bruce entails? If Dick was like, monologuing to himself about it, or he and Bruce were having that conversation as part of their big moment of reconciliation so Dick is effectively saying like:

"You're an asshole, you fucking asshole, but I love you and I'm not going to let you be alone just because you didn't have anyone in your life to save you from what you saved me from."

Now that's some fucking pathos, baby.

Of course, a lot of this is all within the context of just taking for granted that Batman is kinna an asshole. Because that really only started in the 90s, before that he was not NEARLY so grim and dour, he smiled and cracked jokes, he was basically just A Guy in pretty much every way. When they went hard on edging him up it became a fundamental aspect of his personality, culminating in Tower of Babel, which I think is a fucking masterpiece for really digging into the complexity of Batman's dickishness. The best part, though, isn't even in the main JLA book, but a tie-in afterwards that shows Dick and Tim being mistrusted by their teammates and Oracle bitterly notes that she's been getting less requests to help out lately. That fucking rules, that's great storytelling.

But it does kinna suck that the version of Bruce that wasn't so dour, was interesting and complex and capable of being in highly interesting storylines that didn't revolve around what a motherfucker he is has been entirely obliterated from the franchise.

Why is landing an Internship as a Computer Engineering/Computer Science Student so hard ?

I apologize for my long absence—life caught me off guard with a lot of work and projects. Now that I finally have some time, I wanted to make a post to connect with you all. Thank you so much for 1,000 subscribers! I know maintaining a community requires consistent posting, and I feel like many of you might have forgotten about me. But I promise to make something big out of this. I've been thinking about starting a newsletter where you can receive weekly emails from me, discussing something I learned that week or anything that intrigued me and I felt like sharing.

Now, back to our question: Is it really hard to land an internship as a computer science student? The answer is yes, and as a computer engineering student myself, I can attest to this.

I've often wondered why it's so difficult. After some observations, I discovered that almost every computer science student's resume looks the same. The portfolios are nearly identical, lacking uniqueness. If you've studied at the same school as your friends, what would make a recruiter choose you over them?

This is where uniqueness and a sense of self come in. Your portfolio or website should reflect exactly who you are as a person and highlight your strengths.

The second crucial factor is dedication. I've had classmates who are extremely dedicated. They might not have any special skills, but they show immense interest in what they want to do. This drive is palpable, and recruiters can sense it too.

Sometimes, the resume isn't even the most important aspect. For big companies like Oracle, what you say and know during the interview and technical tests matters more. The resume is just the very first step.

So, what I've learned along the way can be summed up in two words: uniqueness and dedication.

Now how to Create the Perfect Resume to Land an Internship as a Student ?

1. Keep the design simple:

Avoid extra designs or too many colors. While uniqueness is important, recruiters generally do not favor overly designed resumes.

2. Structure your resume properly:

- The Resume Header

Contact Information:

Full name and title: List your first and last name. Use the title of the role you want instead of your current title.

Professional email address: Use a clean format like firstname.lastname@gmail.com.

Phone number: Choose the number you check most frequently. Record a professional voicemail greeting if yours is too casual.

Address: List only your city and state. Let recruiters know if you're willing to relocate if applicable.

LinkedIn or other professional social media: Include your LinkedIn profile if it's active and relevant. List any portfolios or computer engineering-related sites.

- The Resume Summary

A paragraph where you describe yourself by answering these questions:

Just noticed now I didn't finish the last few as I was writing them. Damn. Probably forgot to save! The part in the bottom left corner is bc I copy pasted the whole of the farmer and the bog body so I didn't have to redo the 'proceed to x' branches.

In this game, I made two PDFs, one that has audio links for each instance of te reo Māori used in the text and one that's just the text! It was a lot of work, and I wish I'd found a better way to embed the audio than linking to a google drive link ugh. If anyone knows one, please let me know and I can do an updated pdf!

I first thought of this game when I read Morgan Davie of Taleturn's 'The Oracle and The Curse' upon reading the 7 Questions RPG system, but didn't think I had the skills to do it at that point. At some point I was like 'fuck it, if I keep waiting till I think I'm skilled and knowledgeable enough, I'll never make it' and just did it!

One thing I do think about is if I should have made Rangi and Papa more tonally distinct.

All the te reo Māori content! My good friend Ruataupare helped me with all the te reo translations. I gave my best attempt at the sentences, and they made them actually be right.

It is heavily implied that Priestess objectives lie way beyond the crystallization and decrystallization plot that the Precursors cooked up (as she clearly seems to perceive it more like a band-aid; even if they survive rhe Observers like this, does it mean anything when the Universe itself will eventually become their grave); so her plot is like Humanity Instrumentalization project on steroids but for the whole existence edition. Everything will end in disorder, everything will be reordered into a new form of existence, free of misery and isolation. She wants to reunite with the Oracle (with isolation with her loved one ar least partially caused by a terrible accident that severely impacts their state and this too drives her onward) Which means technically she is hijacking the Humanity-saving morally questionable plot that will alter the course of human evolution to create a world of her ideal which also serves to ensure she will never be parted with the sole person she feels at home with.

And then we have Doctor who served as the inspiration for her research and was taken from her by circumstances but also is explicitly not 100% onboard with what she intends to do.

Disregarding a tragic lack of the 'shitty father' aspect (aside Priestess' relationships with Kal'tsit) Does this... make Priestess... Gendo Ik- *message transmission aborted*

affinities and sopiros are the super glue to my wips!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤪🤪🤪

i’m just gonna copy and paste a word vomit i went on and maybe clean it up to make more sense. but tldr affinities and sopiros are the main driving forces behind the wips in this shared “same continent” universe. because the continent doesn’t have a name (yet?) i’ll just list the current wips in it:

paramour (the fall of galeré series) // alizath // ph // teardrops of the gods // cult of the pale moon messiah // red death & the oracle’s favor

but that’s not in chronological order—because these wips don’t take place at the same time; sometimes hundreds of years removed from one another. the VERY TENTATIVE order i have currently (the middle is fuzzy but) is:

ph -> red death -> teardrops / pale moon messiah (i can see them happening around similar times tbh) -> alizath -> paramour (tfog)

but now that that’s kind of (barely cough) explained—here is my rant:

a lot of the way things have changed is in terms of how magic and the “supernatural” have evolved.

there’s no true origin of where mystical things have fully come from in this world but (i) will tell you that it’s main origin is actually up north in tsokhizhe’s country’s mountains (PH)—which is inhabited by the northern bands actually. their concept of magic is much more… vague.

to them essentially spirits/god/magic are all kinda rolled up into a thing they know as “affinities” they’re forces of nature as they are actual deities as they are spirits like. they’re everything supernatural all at once p much. in the northern bands, how they view it; these affinities are able to siphon off and grant a peak or a small mastery into certain aspects of their magic, which is actually how northern band clans derive individual names. gin’s name, for instance, is an offshoot of dark affinity, meaning specifically the magic associated with “the stillness of the dark” — meanwhile his father is demon-geke, which is “the brightness of the morning rays”, or a light affinity. there’s many more BUT basically people like these two, and zhonyi (an animal affinity; zhonyi means “bird”) are what the southern bands know as sopiros or, heretics. but for us, we would describe it as “witch”.

then a few hundred years later, we get alizath and how their witches (which are offshoots and descendants of sopiros) work. witches in alizath are interesting because they have only (1) ability (for the most part) but there is a COST to using it.

for example, the st. jora’s witch is a woman named mistral and she has telepathy (which is a far cry from the mostly nature related magic that sopiros had in the past); however, she is not able to speak her own thoughts—so her magic has literally made her mute. they get around this with a in house signed language that she can use to communicate with others, but YEAH. the reason for why witches have this restriction is a bit… unknown. tbh. meaning i have yet to find a reason PFF.

if i haaaad to think of one it’s probably because as humans began to study magic as a practice in its own, they came upon limitations because it had begun to deviate from the original affinities’s powers. telepathy, premonition, etc, none of those are based in “nature” tho can be achieved through study (since it’s possible to achieve through study, a different character, greye will become a witch in this way). but a born witch is different. and (spoilers ig) kirsi, a half witch (or half sopiro) is different. for sopiros, like zhonyi, the magic is inherent to them and in their veins—there is no “limitation” to its power but the only people like that known about in alizath so removed from tsokhizhe’s country, are half-witches. which are Explicitly banned SO—

EITHER WAY THO, if i take you to red’s story in red death & the oracle’s favor; red and hel are similar to the witches of alizath where their powers have limitations, but unlike the witches of alizath they are much stronger due to being born that way. it’s sort of a transition period from ph’s country as magic seeps into the populous of certain areas and diversifies.

this wip also brings up affinities coming to dwell on the continent

the entire chamber from paramour, the “vampire” in cult of the pale moon messiah, and even the auspicious and mysterious sea glass from teardrops of the gods i’d pretty much say are all affinities that have taken on more physical forms to dwell on earth. they are VASTLY different than one another because affinities cannot be contained by the limits of the human mind and understanding. sea glass is “technically” an inanimate object that grants those who use it vast powers with adverse side effects; the wolf queen is similar to the chamber where she also represents a “concept” that feeds but also has a more animalistic edge as an older affinity.

tbh i could go on but this ramble is a mess and not fully thought out yet because the plots of some of these wips are very up in the air. BUT. it was a good word vomit i wanted to share :)
