One of the biggest arguments I’ve seen used by the Ob*d*l*s against Anidala, is that scene in the ROTS novel where Padmé says she could trust OW with the secret of the rebellion and was hesitant to tell Anakin and I just wanna say:

Padmé wasn't an idiot. She was an extremely intelligent and competent woman, perfectly able to understand that loving Anakin and thinking that he could be trusted with a certain politic-related matter were two very different things and reducing her choice regarding who to trust with an important political matter only on the basis of her feelings of romantic love diminishes her professionalism, and this is why I say y'all could never understand her.

Padmé didn’t have to "love" OW or even like him at all to know he was the perfect Jedi to ask for help in a secret political matter.

That's the point being made in the novel, she’s hit with the realization that Anakin in this particular moment could not be told this piece of info because of his relationship with Palpatine, and Padmé specifically mentions in the Junior ROTS novel that she didn't want to make Anakin “keep a secret” if he didn’t agree with their stance because it’d be “unfair.” So this also played a part in why Padmé didn’t think it best to inform Anakin about the Rebellion. It honestly had little to do with her actually lacking trust in him, and more to do with the circumstances she was in not allowing her to be open with her husband and her not wanting to make him choose between his wife and his “father figure.”

However, Padmé knows OW’s political ideas aren't tied to ONE particular person but to a philosophy, one which is closer to her own, at that point. None of this was ever meant to be hinted as “romantic” or even remotely insinuated as romantic. It’s strictly professional and even the tone of the scene makes that so abundantly clear.

All I’m saying is that, some of these proshippers are doing the most out here to try and prove their ship, like my loves? You forgot a very important thing called ✨ context ✨ and regardless of her rational thinking, Padmé still went out of her way to try and talk out all of this Rebellion secrecy stuff with Anakin when she confronted him in the scene where she asks if he ever thought they were “fighting on the wrong side.” Padmé didn’t trust OW in the same way she trusted Anakin (with her entire self and being) she had the level of trust and love for Anakin that was only meant for him.

Mixing up her unwavering faith in Anakin as her husband with her trust in OW’s devotion to duty as her comrade/ally is purposely deluding yourself, because the two aren’t the same and therefore can’t be compared. An example of this is: Padmé constantly putting more value to Anakin’s words over OW’s in the end of ROTS when he came to tell her of Anakin’s “crimes”. She completely disregarded what OW had claimed about her husband and instead made her way to where Anakin was herself, to ask him directly. Despite what the truth was, this is proof of her trusting Anakin unconditionally, and I didn’t even think I had to spell that out because it’s as clear as day.

In conclusion, Padmé didn’t trust OW more than Anakin, she just knew the circumstances she was in didn’t exactly make it easy for her to openly talk with her husband about these matters and that’s part of what played into the issues they had in ROTS, it’s exactly what Sidious wanted.

Not having the gods be responsible for the Aeor bubbles (Aeubbles) actually felt like a very nice choice to me; I was kind of dreading them turning out to be Erathis’ work or something. Because if the gods did pick and choose who to save, plucking their special followers out above all others, I don’t know if it would feel like a kindness to me! Why does this six year old in a city of horrors get to live while his neighbor dies? For the circumstance of faith? It would be cruel in a way that they haven’t been cruel—at least natural disasters don’t pick favorites. Mount Vesuvius didn’t pretend to be judging the content of anyone’s hearts.

It also gives one last bit of autonomy (and one last final brutal parallel with the gods they hate) to Aeor’s mages. They made something so beautiful and terrible, an awe that brought the god of magic to tears, and even as the gods pulled it down in their ears they had one last paranoid failsafe! One last screw you measure preserving a terrible truth. But just as Asmodeus accuses, Aeor clearly drew distinctions between the people who matter and the people who don’t. That blue bubble we’ve seen in the amphitheater—it’s not any of the panicked masses who were saved in perfect glacial magic, it was the archmage.

At the end of the day, it was Aeor that built a hierarchy to save some people and leave others. They might not have sunk the Titanic but they made sure only the first-class passengers would have access to their last, most desperate life boat. I’m glad the narrative allowed them to have that triumph. In trying to be a godkiller how close must you mold yourself to the shape of a killing kind of god?

I think it's reached the status of pet peeve for me at this point, how common it is in the fandom for people to assume that adoption into the Jiang family was a unilateral good, that Wei Wuxian definitely wanted and which was withheld from him, thereby proving he was not valued enough by his sect and teacher.

Partly just because that's boring, and leads to boring interpretations of the characters, personal opinion.

Partly because it often tends to reflect an uncritical absorption of the in-universe classist belief that being the son of Wei Changze was inherently valueless, and not worth keeping for its own sake.

And maybe especially because I'm starting to feel like it arises from an overall really flat perception of adoption as an institution, that American fans of a Chinese piece of fiction should maybe subject to more scrutiny.

I've established that Logan was obsessed with Minecraft as a kid (non negotiable) but what about hesh? Been thinkin maybe it's somethin like hot wheels or stuff to do with the military, but honestly I feel like he'd have a very bizzare obsession with types of trash cans. The types of trashcans, their uses, capacity, their manufacturers, etc. Elias would drive them to school and David would be telling Logan all about them as they drive through the neighborhood. Trash days were his favorite day of the week because he could then show Logan which ones were which. (They'd walk to school on those days, because no matter how slow Elias drove it was still too quickly for David's taste.)

Made holidays/birthdays a bit hard when Elias was forced to figure out where and how to get his hands on a "Overseas trashcan cataloge" that David had asked for incredibly earnestly... He requested nothing else but mint chip icecream, which Elias knew damn well was for Logan. (Logan asked David to ask.)

Elias gets desperate to the point that he winds up settling on making it his damn self, and considers himself very lucky that he has an overseas friend that asks very little questions while willing to do the most random shit.

Price questions why on earth he keeps letting Elias ask random shit of him. He also hopes no one saw him going around taking pictures of bins. Elias demanded quality so he couldn't just snap pics walking by. (Simon did. Simon also asks no questions. Price doesn't judge his hobbies.)

Hesh isn't as obviously keen on trashcans when he's older but that doesn't mean he isn't at all. He still is. He just knows his army brothers would rake him over the coals for his incredibly niche hobby and he's not willing to deal with that.

EDIT: just realized that i should clarify something. what i meant by "feel bad for nie huaisang :(" was that jiang cheng felt bad for nie huaisang after nie mingjue died, because having to assume the burden of sect leadership while still grieving was something jiang cheng understood as well.

that poll option does NOT mean "jiang cheng thinks nie mingjue is abusing nie huaisang" or whatever. i should have made that clearer and i'm only realizing now my phrasing was in fact Dogshitte. i'm sorry.

A Weird Question

For the SoapGhost girlies, I have a weird question

There's a lot of agreement that Ghost has a Glasgow smile or that Soap's family lives in/near Glasgow, if not Soap himself.

I've heard a lot of different pronunciations of the word "Glasgow" and I'm really curious to see how everyone else pronounces it

Ow as in like "ow he hit me" just in case there's confusion
