what joke are you really tryin to tell when you make fun of appalachia and the greater south?
even when you "just" mock our accents (you and i both know what you're really implying when you take on the drawl), the punchline of your joke there is poverty.
those who prefer a more overt route over backhanded implication: when you laugh at our education, or lack thereof, the punchline of your joke is still poverty. systemically underfunded schools packed with underprivileged children who aren't getting the same standards of education as the rest of the country is a real knee slapper boy i tell you what
when you mock our dental health and start quipping about toothless hillbillies, you're still laughin at poverty. appalachia is disproportionately uninsured compared to the rest of the nation. fellas most of us can't afford the privilege of regular, preventative dental visits and checkups, let alone the cost of huge procedures when things finally get dire. beyond that, our poverty is generational. from the get go we inherit bad teeth from family who couldn't afford that shit neither.
in the same vein, when you make fatphobic comments about said disproportionately-uninsured region--one with few jobs available to begin with, let alone work that pays enough to afford wholesome, unprocessed foods that don't rot yer teeth for supper--the butt of your joke is,, u guessed it,, ✨ poverty ✨
but to me the real kicker is the cousin fucker jokes. how can you not see that when you snark about inbreeding, when you piss yourself over that infamous billboard and oh, how could anyone possibly need to be told that?!, your punchline is not only poverty and a lack of education enough to develop critical thinking skills and the ability to build safe support networks, but you're also usually guffawing at incestuous rape and vulnerable children on top of it. peak comedy.
really though, how is any of that funny?
what happens to everyone's class consciousness the moment we start talkin about the hollers n the deep south?
why does health insurance, quality education, and food security for all suddenly go from issues worth fighting for to punishments, and ones we deserve to be humiliated for on top of it?
i know im just a dumb ol hillbilly n all, but i reckon i just don't get what we're supposed to be laughin at here

Study Tip - 4
When you're studying, it is advisable to take a break. I don't mean breaks which last around 5-15 mins. I mean breaks that last for 20 seconds.
Why 20 seconds?
Recently, i have discovered that when you're studying for long hours or even short, our brains are exhausted by the time we complete even a single chapter. It has too much of information to actually process it so i always use this method.
When you complete a topic, small or big. Just close your eyes for 20-30 seconds and lean back on your chair and calm your breathing. Process the information. Let everything sink in. Take out the tension. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PHONE. And then after those 20-30 seconds, just glance through the topic before moving to the next one.
How does this help?
Boosts attention.
Allows you to calm down from overwhelming emotions
Helps you process better.
You're likely to remember it more.
Helps you to study for longer hours.
Hope it helps! :)

Donald Trump, Glenn Beck and Tucker Carlson are trying to warn the American people of what's to come but unfortunately they are being silenced.
The dollar is crashing and so are the banks. In the past 2 months, America has experienced the 2nd, 3rd and 4th largest bank collapses in America history..... And it's only getting started.
Before leaving Fox, Tucker Carlson warned of the impending U.S . dollar collapse as the banking crisis. Your hard-earned wealth is at risk as financial institutions crumble and the value of the dollar plummet.

𝟭. set SMART goals ( 📒 )
make sure your goals are specific, measurable, actionable, realistic and time-bound. this will help you maintain focus and track your progress over time. how many times has it been you and your unrealistic to-do list against the world? well, it seems that a mile-long to-do list is not a good ally at all. remember that you are a person and not a machine, and that just dedicating four hours to deep work and concentration is A LOT. be kind to yourself and don't overload yourself with more work than you can humanly do.
𝟮. daily planning ( 🧸 )
mea culpa because i'm the first one who doesn't plan their day. to-do lists generally stress me out and make me feel overwhelmed as if i don't manage to complete all the tasks an asteroid will end up hitting the earth. but i recognize that it is a good starting point. sometimes i have too many things to do and i end up doing nothing in total confusion, but having at least a general list to follow gives me more motivation. moreover do we want to talk about the dopamine released when you tick an empty box? marvelous. maybe don't write down tasks that are too onerous and demanding, break them into several smaller tasks, also try to write simple activities such as "drink a glass of water" every now and then. having these low-commitment activities will help you stay motivated while completing more important tasks.
𝟯. reverse-engineering method ( 🪴 )
start with the end goal and work backwards to plan the actions needed to achieve it. this helps you maintain clarity on the steps to take and focus on the most relevant actions. the best thing to do is plan based on the time available and do your best to stick to your daily goal.
𝟰. timer roulette ( ⏳ )
choose a task from your to-do list and set a random timer between 15 and 45 minutes. work on that task with all your concentration until the timer goes off. this helps you fight procastination and keep your mind fresh.
𝟱. mind mapping time ( 📍 )
before starting a study session, take a few minutes to create a mental map of the subject you need to cover. this helps you see connections between concepts and organize information more effectively.
𝟲. task batching ( 🫒 )
group similar tasks together and tackle them in batches. for example, reply to all emails in one session rather than doing so at scattered times throughout the day. this helps you reduce transition time between tasks and maintain focus. contrary to popular belief, human beings are not truly multitasking (only a few possess this great ability) and when we do multiple things together we do nothing but shift our attention from one task to another, greatly reducing the quality of our performance. if possible, try to avoid these switches that are harmful to your focus and concentration.
𝟳. the pomodoro method ( 🍅 )
okay, y'all probably already know this one because it became so popular in the last year but if you don't, the pomodoro method is a time management technique developed by francesco cirillo in the late 80s. it is based on the idea of working for short periods of time, usually 25 minutes, followed by a short 5 minute break. after four rounds of work, a longer break is taken, usually 15-30 minutes. this technique helps improve concentration and productivity, as it breaks down work into manageable tasks and offers regular breaks to rest and regenerate energy. i personally prefer the 50/10 ratio while i'm studying but you decide which time ratio is better for you, i find it really useful and it helps me a lot while i'm studying for my exams.

N.W.T. teachers will see their pay rise by 12 per cent over the next couple years.

Study Hall's Code and Programming for Beginners is out now!
Our friends at Study Hall took on a feat no Complexly channel had done before: teaching coding through YouTube videos. What resulted is a delightful series where we apply programming tools to solve real-world problems like calculating how many lasagnas to bring to a potluck or simulating radioactive mice to stop them from causing world destruction with their poop!
All 28 episodes of Study Hall Code and Programming for Beginners, hosted by Crash Course Kids host Sabrina Cruz, are out now!

My study at home
~routine~
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🦢 Hello my lovess! I thought it’d be fun to show you guys my monday-friday home schooled routine <3
🌷On days where I don’t have to leave in the morning I always start at around 8:45-9 am. Firstly I read 30 minutes of any book i’m currently reading. I tend to do this first because it’s the thing I always am so excited for and it sort of readies my mind! As of right now I am reading ‘The Great Gatsby’.
🌷Secondly, I do any online assignment I have due from my health teacher, I do 1 and a half or 2 depending on how long and difficult the work is.
🌷Thirdly, is an hour of Korean/Hangul on Duolingo, I always make sure to take notes of notes!
🌷After a 15 minute break I do 40 minutes of Algebra 1 on khan academy & 40 minutes of Ela on khan academy (Taking notes if needed).
🌷Following is another 15 minute break <3 Lastly, I do 40 minutes of biology on khan academy & 40 minutes of history on khan academy (Taking notes if needed). Finishing up usually just in time for lunch!
NOTES
🌷On Wednesday’s at my old school it would always be a shorter day since it’s the middle of the week so, on those days I cut the time down on everything just a little bit! For example: A hour of Duolingo becomes 40 minutes instead.
🌷While I don’t really study on the weekends I always make sure to continue reading along with doing about 40 minutes of vocabulary practice. I also like to watch ted talks for different forms of education.
