In other news I'm getting evaluated for autism soon.

my take on the whole nun situation is that daryl is fucking scared. hes stuck in france, not sure he will ever get to see his family again, not even sure if they still care about him (which is a ridiculous concept but him verbalizing this doubt is indicative of just how down in the dumps he's been feeling). he is also starting to care for the kid and isabelle, which is also scary because if he Does manage to get home, he will never see them again, and if he lets himself get attached then that will be yet another loss that he'll have to deal with. so he's kind of stuck in this situation where he is desperate for some familiarity and comfort (hence his sudden change of attitude towards the kid, i mean he rly did a whole 180 from yelling at the fucker to teaching him how to play baseball) but also trying to remember where his loyalties lie (family back home). then we get to the kiss scene. i think it's interesting that he only goes for it after she tells him her and the kid will go to america with him. cause he must be so damn relieved! this way he gets to both go back And keep these new people that he cares about in his life. I also think that him doing this thing that we've never seen him do before (and at this point i'd like to remind everybody that we've only ever seen him hold leah's hand, as far as i'm concerned his cherry remains firmly unpopped thank you very much) is a result of being thrown into this completely new environment. i think it's a kind of might as well situation. he's already all the way out there, he's not sure he'll ever get back, he's not sure he wants to get back (because he's convinced nobody cares about him. as one does). and since isabelle is Visibly interested in him (which, for someone who was raised catholic is Extremely Amusing. like, sister ion think jesus would appreciate you frenching the hot american, no matter how good he looks in them overalls), maybe this is the way for him to ensure her and the kid stay in his life. basically, what i'm saying is, daryl is confused and scared and lost and just doing things that feel right at the moment and he doesn't know what to do with himself or the situation. i cannot wait for carol to smack him upside the head and drag his dumbass home.
