i love how different percabeth is from different male lead narrated american middle school romances from the romantic point of view. usually, the male lead has a crush on the cold and kind of mean female protagonist cause she's pretty and not like the other girls.....she's pretty and not like the other girls....thats it oops. but annabeth and percy. annabeth fell first. even though she's cold and sassy too, she believed in percy. she saw the good in him and loved him for it. then percy fell. he didnt have to worry about whether annabeth would like a loser like him. yeah, he doubted why annabeth liked him once in a while, but it was a never a question of 'does she?' its healthy. and thats what makes rick riordan one of the best middle school authors ever thank you bye

can you imagine being Essek and watching this tiefling on a total power trip turn into a 10 feet tall--incredibly ripped??--god and kill the boy you're catching feelings for?? And brand you with some kind of evil cursed hivemind magic you're worried might corrupt you forever?? This thing that your friends swear was once family, but all you see is something monstrous and otherworldly and tearing himself apart at the seams, screaming when all their loved ones call out to him??
Just. the way it must have felt to see Lucien go from that to. Just the most sweet and affectionate little tiefling. Gentle and curious and so full of joy and wonder. He's got the brightest smile and warm eyes and this mischievous playfulness. He runs off at first--startled, scared. But then once he's calmed, the first real word he says other than Empty is Love. And right after that he calls out for his Magician, for this man who did everything he could to save him, held him close and kissed him so tenderly on the forehead--
And Caleb throws his arms around Essek and Veth and just watches the Nein all descend on Tealeaf and embrace him amidst laughter and tears and Molly's starting to smile again and Caleb's so so happy just to see him finally alive and.
In that moment, Essek understands why they came all this way--

no f1 driver is ever relatable except lewis' commitment to his dog. everyone laughs at his dog Instagram and he keeps on with it and I respect it and support it and that would also be me had I been born like 3 years earlier

Okay. Finally time to talk about them. The Paragon Twins.
For some context: these are OCs that were created for a long-term roleplay me and my friends are doing and I haven't had a chance to play them yet but like. I'm THINKING ABOUT THEM okay.
The Paragon Twins, in the canon of their world, were raised and treated as foils. Icarus, Paragon of Virtuosity, and Orion, Paragon of Monstrosity. They're twins, they're brothers, and they've always been treated as though one must slay the other.
Icarus is kind. Icarus is kind, and that is his greatest weakness. His heart overflows for the entire world, and it will bleed him dry. All he wants is to be free, but he keeps seeing the hurt and danger in the world and he gives everything he has to try and stop it. He gives away his personhood to try and help people.
Orion is angry. Orion is angry, and that is his greatest strength. He sees the harm in the world and he fights it with a snarling hatred. All he wants is to see the people who have harmed him caged just as he has been so many times, and he will let go of any shard of humanity to make it so.
They need each other.
Icarus stands in front of Orion, bruised and bleeding and broken, and in desperate gasps says no, you can't hurt him, no, he's my brother. Orion plays guard for Icarus, snarling and hissing and biting, and pushes away any who would abuse his brother's kindness for their own sake.
Orion refuses to let Icarus give everything away. Icarus refuses to let Orion let go of his personhood.
Icarus would rather die than let the world take away the last shards of Orion's hope.
Orion would rather kill everyone than let the world take everything away from Icarus.
Icarus is the last Good in Orion's life. Orion is the truest Good in Icarus' life.
They weren't necessarily created as twins. Icarus was sent on a crusade to kill Orion, to kill the embodiment of everything that he is not.
And he saw that Orion was hurt, and scared, and that deep down-- deep down they weren't so different. That both of them were created by this world, were put on pedestals and revered or hated by everyone for no true reason, and--
And he saw the Good in Orion.
And Orion saw the Good in him.
And so Icarus 'tamed' the beast. And Orion protects Icarus. And they grow close, grow together, grow dependent on each other.
Orion was the first person who refused Icarus' help if Icarus was hurt. Icarus was the first person who treated Orion as a person.
They're brothers. They're twin souls, hurt and scarred over and used by the world around them, who need each other to be whole again.
