this fanfic from 8-9 years ago I'm rereading is so fcking good w so many layers and plot twists goddd fanfics used to be this good back then and didn't even need smut for it.

++ what ppl consider angst nowadays doesn't come near the actual angst from back then.

+++ side-characters that were actually important for the plot and also had their own deep and plot relevant background stories and weren't just there for the sake of it?? it was a thing back then!!

I'm actually thinking about that one day in 6th grade (I was 12), when we were meant to make a presentation about ww II

Well, we were a group that consisted of 5 history kids and one who was not into history, but was our friend. What did we do? We made a performance (there was no script)

Me and my two friends were Germany (we even painted the famous moustache on our faces with a marker, imagine going back home like that), two other guys were USSR, and one guy was Poland. He even had a piece of paper with "Poland" written on it

It started with Poland being punched and literally thrown to the ground, and we kind of were talking like Germany and USSR, but then we started to fight, and somehow one of the USSR guys punched the other one (or someone else did, I'm not sure) and he fell to the ground, but not in a silly way. You haven't seen the confusion on our faces

I believe it ended with the rest of us screaming something between "MURICA FUCK YEAH" and "MOUSTACHE MAN DIES". Generally that was chaos

But if I'm correct we still got an A, so

I know I don’t owe any of you anything but I still felt compelled to write about my long term absence. And I feel far enough away from the dangerous spot I was in to be able to make this comic. I have a therapist now, and she agreed that making this could be a very cathartic gesture, and the start of properly leaving these thoughts behind me. I am still, at seemingly random times, blindsided by fleeting desires to kill myself. They’re always passing urges, but it’s disarming, and uncomfortable. I worry sometimes that my brain’s spent so long thinking only about suicide that it’s forgotten how to think about anything else. Like, now that I've opened that door for myself, I'll never be able to fully shut it again. But I’m trying my best to encourage my mind in other directions. We'll see how that goes.

I am still donating all proceeds from my store to Palestinian causes. So far, I've donated over $15K, not including donations coming from my own pocket or the fundraising streams which jointly raised around $10K. In the time since I made my initial post about where this money would be going, the focus has shifted from aid organisations to directly donating to escape funds.

If you'd like to do the same, you can look at Operation Olive Branch, which hosts hundreds of Palestinian escape funds or donate to Safebow, which has helped facilitate the safe crossing and securing of important medical procedures for over 150 at-risk palestinians since the beginning of the genocide.

listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded psychopath happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.
