chuuya dazai and fyodor when reader tries to remove the hickies they gave reader the next day OHKYIGOAHSS
a/n: hiii everyone i have crawled out of my void to offer you this post !! ty to the anon who came up with this wonderful idea. i've missed posting omg and we somehow are so close to 3k despite my inactivity??? slay. shall open reqs again once we get there mwehehe
warnings: slight nsfw
(Chuuya, Dazai, Fyodor) When You Try to Remove Hickeys
Tumblr media
Chuuya
he's gonna be the most chill about this tbh
it's your body and if you don't want ppl seeing that on you then that's ur choice!!
however
hiding them is one thing, but that doesn't mean he wants to see you removing them
so yknow that hack where you take a whisk and like,,,twist it over the mark to get rid of it?
yeah so you tried that...and it was actually working until chuuya barged into the room and demanded to know what you were doing
bro is not happy to see the hickies he'd proudly left on you last night being somehow removed by a WHISK
grabs that mf thing and throws it across the room
chuuya's not angry at you, more so frustrated and insecure?? cuz like why would u wanna get rid of them
he's lowkey gonna start pouting tbh. won't say anything else but will glare & give u silent treatment
won't stop until you admit the only reason u removed them is because it was too visible with your work uniform and u didn't want everyone staring smh
insist that he should give you more in areas that people won't see and there's no guarantee y'all won't be late to work <3
Tumblr media
Dazai
oh lord
so dazai really loves to mark you up
and last night was no different. your neck was black and blue with hickies
deadass to the point where you nearly had a heart attack when you saw it in the morning
"how am i gonna go to work like this?!" you practically sob to him while he LAUGHS
his only advice is "then don't go" as if both of y'all don't need to have ur asses at the agency in 20 minutes
you check ur phone for the time and when u see this you panic and sprint to your shared bedroom
you try everything you can think of to cover them
first you hastily layer concealer on your neck, to no avail as the marks were too dark
then digging through ur closet for clothes with a high enough neckline to hide it, to which you found none
whole time dazai is leaning against the doorframe, watching ur meltdown with an amused expression
he approaches and helps u up from the floor where u had collapsed with all the clothes strewn around you ☹️
"allow me to pick out something for you to wear" ….oh god
u guys are beyond late at this point so you sigh and accept defeat, to which dazai picks a shirt that of course displays all the marks on your neck
you got lots of stares that day to say the least
Tumblr media
Fyodor
surprisingly fyodor doesn't usually leave too many marks on you to begin with
he's got that old fashioned take where it's like "other people don't need to see that and be in our business" if u know what i mean
however, he is also a very possessive man
^so when he gets worked up and does leave hickeys on you, the last thing he wants to see is you trying to hide or remove them
which is exactly what he walked in on u doing today
you were trying the good old "rub an ice cube on it" hack before u had to work
now this mf thinks you have some hidden agenda as to why you wanted them gone
"are you seeing someone else" 💀💀
PLS u didn't realize he had been watching from the doorway and this scares u so bad u drop the ice cube down ur shirt
u start frantically trying to get it out of ur shirt while yelling at him like "i have to work, wtf are u talking about???"
u immediately stop tho when he storms up to u and grabs your face to make you look at him
his face is so cold and unreadable omg it's scary
his eyes shift to the marks on your neck as he traces over them with his fingers
"leave these alone" he says lowly, then adjusts the collar of your shirt so they are partially covered
neither of u will say anything more about it after that, but fyodor sends sigma to secretly follow u to work to make sure that's where ur really going 😓

WHERE'S MY LOVE (canon event)
Hobie brown x reader
ANGST. 1st part.
NEXT PART
a/n: many people asked for THE CANON EVENT so enjoy it! :)?
Guys! Last part is coming soon!
Tumblr media
You and Hobie have been together for two years, it felt like a lifetime to your friends but to you it just felt like the beginning of your love story.
However, you can never have it all, right? A hero's life is as full of successes as it is failures..... and one of you two had to lose eventually.
Hobie kisses happily you when you meet him at HQ, he had left you asleep in his flat in the morning, you looked so pretty in his bed he didn't have the courage to wake you up.
That particular day Hobie had a nightmare, but when he woke up you were next to him, wrapping him in a warm hug and suddenly his fear was gone. He felt so lucky to have you by his side.
"I missed you in the morning" you whisper against his lips and Hobie smiles, pulling you closer to him.
"Sorry luv, Miguel needed help" he explains feeling you hum on his chest.
The moment was perfect; you and hobie hugging in the lobby like your lives depend on it.
Not knowing why Hobie murmurs softly "You're my home Y/n, you know that, right?"
Your heart melts, you also wanted to tell him the same thing but Jessica interrupted them.
"Hey lovebirds, Miguel needs you, you have a mission" Hobie rolls his eyes and you give him a kiss.
....
Hobie is upset 'cause he wanted to take you home, however, you two are swinging on the buildings of other universe to fight yet another enemy of Spider-Man.
It's the same old routine.
While you and him fight against the Green Goblin, Hobie wonders if maybe a stable life with you is the best.
And that thought makes him smile and feel so warm as he watches you fight on the roof of the tallest building he's ever seen.
Everything feels the same. So routine.
But suddenly not anymore, the Green Goblin blows up part of the building and all he sees is you falling.
Hobie isn't even listening his watch 'cause if that were the case then he would know what that means.
Your triggers have stopped working. You're so scared but soon you see Hobie and he's trying to catch you, he's going to save you, you can hear him yelling that you're going to be okay, you don't have to be scared, his hand is almost reaching for yours and when you feel the touch of his fingers both smile, but that touch doesn't last 'cause the Green Goblin knocks Hobie away from you.
And he can hear you calling him.
When Hobie finally manages to free himself from the Green Goblin, his watch has stopped chiming.
He doesn't get it, your lover sees you, you're lying on the floor, his brain still can't figure it out, Hobie takes off his mask and then he takes off your mask and his hands are stained with blood.
"Y/n.. luv.. wake up" your eyes are closed, Hobie brown is ignoring the blood, because you always bleed, but that doesn't mean NOTHING.
"hun'...please..don't leave me" his voice is broken and his tears are falling on your face.
He hugs you tightly as he sobs and something inside him breaks because your heart, your heart isn't beating at the same level as his… his sobs are so loud that he doesn't even hear a portal open behind him.
But Hobie Brown doesn't care that Miguel and Jessica are there, or that they see him cry, because he couldn't save you and now you're gone...
because..
You were his canon event.

Vigilante Shit 《pt.1》
(max verstappen x ricciardo!reader)
Yn Ricciardo is a familiar face for every formula 1 fan, having known her since she was 10 years old as she joined her brother in the paddock over the years, she leads quite a normal life as a normal college student with her boyfriend.. well, as normal as it can be
or
in which yn ricciardo gets through her first heartbreak by the help of her brother's teammate?
N.B: the summary isn't the best tbh... this small series (i think 4 or 5 parts maximum) is inspired by taylor swift's reputation and midnight albums (2 of my all time favourite albums)... I hope you guys like it! Also I left a hidden message for where this is going in here, so let me know your theories in the comments, thank you for reading ♥️♥️ °ps: don't worry, pt2 of the cillian x fem driver reader is coming very soon° WARNINGS: very short, not proof read, swear words, smoking and drinking (mentioned and in pics), 5 year age gap, if I missed anything else please let me know

The 20 year old was seen tody smoking and drinking right before the Italian GP (not really a hot look, the youngest riccardo looks sick and tired). yn is known as quite the lovely and good girl, her older brother always supports her and takes her travelling whenever her studies allow while she has a lovely boyfriend back home who is always waiting for her with open arms(as documented through hers and Daniel's social media) so what could possibly push her to waste her life away?

Special Delivery
(Sanji x Fem!Reader- Offscreen)
Sanji reaches out to Zeff for the first time in years.
I wrote this many, many months ago now, and it was the first fic i posted anonymously on AO3. I got a few requests after it was originally posted to write a second part, which I eventually did!
You can read Part 2 here! Original AO3 link
(I figured I should let my blog breathe a little in between the really heavy and emotional Law fic im writing, and what better way to cool down than some sanji fluff <3)
Tumblr media
A sharp squawk awoke Red-Leg Zeff from his daze. With a grumpy expression and a low grunt, he peered towards the direction of the sound.
A messenger coo was seated on the railing of the Baratie's upper deck next to where Zeff stood slouched over with his forearms leaning against the wooden support. It cocked its head to the side as if it was deconstructing Zeff's appearance before reaching into its pouch and procuring a parchment envelope. Zeff found it strange. Messenger coos only usually delivered the newspapers or the latest bounty reports, very rarely were they put in charge of personalized letters. It must have been paid off by whoever wanted this delivered.
The gruff man took the parchment from the beak of the bird and watched as it took back off into the air, leaving a few molted white feathers behind in its wake. He looked at the envelope.
All it said on the front, in very elegant handwriting, was "Captain Zeff." He flipped the paper around, revealing a wax stamp holding the opening down, which he peeled off with a calloused thumb.
Tucked neatly inside the envelope was a white piece of paper, tri-folded over itself. Zeff slipped the paper out, unfolding it to reveal the written contents of the letter. The penmanship was impeccable, and the ink was very sleek. He knew immediately it was from Sanji, not many other pirates had handwriting as good as his. He had completely lost track of how many years it had been since the curly-browed boy left with that ragtag group of pirates to sail to the Grand Line, but Zeff had every single one of his bounty posters. He'd never admit it, but they were tacked up on the wall of his sleeping quarters. Every time Sanji's bounty increased, Zeff felt pride swell in his heart.
"How are you doing, you old geezer. It's been a little too long since we've had any contact, so I thought I'd write to you just to see how you've been. You're no slouch, I'm sure you've been keeping up with the world's events over the past however-many years. Do the Marines even bother to keep sending our bounty posters to the Baratie anymore? Well, regardless, I'm sure you can read right through me. I can't deny it, I miss you, old man. I'm happier than I've ever been in my life, and such a huge part of that is thanks to you and the guys back on that old cruiser. Every recipe I try to make, I imagine you screaming in my ear and telling me that it tastes like shit. Some days I really wish I could be back there, but most of the time I'm joyful. Life has been really, really good. A few years ago, I met someone. Last year, we got married, and soon after our lives changed so drastically. She's the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on, and she's as sweet as an angel. I mean it, too. I know you'd probably think something along the lines of me playing up my affections again just because she's a pretty woman, but I mean it. You'd love her, Zeff. Living as a pirate is the most stressful thing anyone could ever do, but she makes every day worth it. The crew was discussing the possibility of returning to the East Blue a bit ago, and when we do, I'm going to introduce you to her. I've spent the last years talking all about you, how you taught me everything I know about cooking, and I can tell she's just as excited as I am to finally see you. This letter's gone on long enough and I don't want to use up all of Nami's paper.
-- Sanji"
Zeff felt a lump in the back of his throat. Sanji had grown into such a fine young man, eloquent with his words and his feelings. He knew how big of a deal it was for the boy to be so honest and open. But one thing in the letter caught him off guard. What did he mean by, "Soon after our lives changed drastically."?
Zeff peered into the envelope, where another, smaller envelope was tucked inside. He almost didn't see it. Pulling it out, he held the letter and original envelope in between his fingers while he opened the second. Sanji was thorough with his packaging, that's for sure.
Inside, there were three photographs printed on thin, matted paper. The first was of Sanji and you, the wife he wrote about in his letter, taken by someone else holding the camera. Sanji had his arm around you, holding you against him, and you had your face nuzzled into his neck. His other hand held a cigarette away from the two of you, like he was in the middle of telling a story. The two of you were smiling brighter than the sun, Sanji's eyes completely closed with the motion of laughter, and yours creased, your irises looking up towards him.
The second photo made Zeff's eyes water. A photo of you and Sanji on the deck of the Sunny, exchanging rings. Sanji was wearing a sleek navy blue tuxedo, while you were wearing a gorgeous white ballgown. For pirates, you cleaned up phenomenally. He could just make out tears in Sanji's eyes as the photo displayed you sliding a band onto his finger. A skeleton with poofy hair stood between the two of you, which Zeff found a little odd, but he chuckled at the absurdity of it all.
Zeff flipped to the last photo.
The tears that were welling in his eyes from the previous image finally slid down his cheeks in heavy, salty droplets. His lip quivered.
Sanji sat in a chair, beaming down at a bundle of cloth held gently in his arm. He was crying in this photo as well, and was reaching a finger over the top of the bundle, where a smaller hand was reaching outwards to grab onto it. A small glimpse of blonde hair could be made out from under the cloth securing the baby tightly. On the back of the film, Sanji wrote the birth date and the name of the baby.
Zeff used a sleeve to wipe his blubbering eyes. His lips quivered, but he couldn't help the smile that broke out on his face.
Was he allowed to call himself a grandfather now? He figured it was only appropriate.

I'll Crawl Home to You
(Spencer Reid x GN Reader)
Tumblr media
part two:
category: angst and fluff oneshot
summary: reader gets held hostage by unsub, reader and spence both like each other
warnings: gun, being held hostage, a really creepy unsub, dead body, the word “pretty” being used to describe reader in a gender neutral way, bruising on temple, crying, paramedics, like a singular mention of “blood and gore” (not going into detail)
word count: 1.8k
A/N: this is my first ever fanfic so PLEASE don’t go hog wild on me, i also don't know how to really do warnings so I'm sorry if i miss anything!!
The BAU team had been out in Detroit on case for the past week trying to catch an unsub who’s been killing government agents. We got a tip about the unsub’s killing location in an old abandoned warehouse in the middle of nowhere. The team splits up alongside a few cops from the local police precinct as we search for the suspect, you and Spencer are paired together.
“Anyone got eyes?” you whisper quietly into your radio, my gun is drawn as Spencer looks behind him to check on me.
A murmur of quiet no’s fill your radio, Spencer shakes his head as he proceeds further into the warehouse. Quiet rustling can be heard from deeper into the building, both of your guns drawn tighter to the noise. You both head into an area that was almost pitch black, so dark you almost can’t see Spencer in front of you.
Shuffle Shuffle…
“Did you hear that?” you say quietly to Spencer, looking around.
Spencer nods, stalking more into the warehouse where he thinks the noise came from. You look over your shoulder, hearing soft footsteps behind you. The cock of a gun is heard, and then the feeling of cold medal on your temple is felt. You try to scream, why can't you scream? You can’t see Spencer, where is he? The person behind you drags you back, further away from Spencer as his dirty hands cover your mouth.
“You FBI?” A snakelike voice whispers in your ear, sending uncomfortable shivers up your spine.
You nod quickly as the unsub reaches for your gun, grabbing it and kicking it away.
“That’s unfortunate for you,” the unsub snickers, “How many other agents are with you?”.
You don’t respond, which causes him to become irritated, pressing the barrel of the gun harder into your skull.
“Give me your radio” he hisses in your ear.
You begrudgingly obey, passing him your radio so he doesn't shoot you. He takes it from your fingers, holding it close to his mouth before speaking into it.
“You guys really suck for looking after your own, here I am with such a pretty lil agent, and no one’s noticed they are gone.” he snickers into the radio, his hands still pressing you to him.
“REID” You try to scream against the unsubs hands, it only comes out as a muffle.
“Shush” the unsub whisper shouts in your ear, his hand roughly pushing against your mouth.
“FBI, hands up or we’ll shoot” I hear the all too familiar voice of my best friend, I look up and see him.
Spencer has his gun aimed at the unsubs head as he calls for backup. His eyes flicker from him to you, your eyes red and puffy from trying not to cry.
“How about- you drop your gun- and I won’t shoot this pretty lil agent right here in front of you” the unsub snickers sadistically, his gun pressing more into your skull.
You furiously shake your head at Spencer, silently begging him not to comply, your lip quivering as you do. You can almost see as Spencer almost considers dropping his gun, just to keep you safe for a while longer. But his gaze catches yours and he realizes that it’s not a good idea at all, his grip tightening on the gun instead.
“Step away” Spencer sternly commands, his face looking absolutely pissed at the situation.
“You know, you and I could be the next famous murderer couple, a real modern Bonnie and Clyde” the unsub snickers in your ear. “That is of course, if I wasn’t gonna kill you”
“Please, you don’t have to kill me” You stumble over your words, your brain losing its ability to think clearly as the seconds pass. You can feel your chest tightening, it's getting harder to breathe, you need to focus, calm down god damnit. Your eyes flick to Spencer, your only light in this dark situation.
“Please- just- let them go okay?” Spencer says, frustrated, his eyes tearing up as well.
“I don’t think so, they’re mine now” the unsub snarled, his grip once again tightening around me.
“Spencer” I cry out softly, my salty tears dripping down my face.
By then, the rest of the team had finally found the three of you, gathering around the unsub. You can feel the unsub tense up, knowing he’s outnumbered and won’t get out of here alive and free. Your eyes shut, muttering silent words under your breath.
The unsub starts spiraling as he shouts irrational words at you and the team, the gun against your temple almost leaving bruises from the pressure he was putting on it. The barrel is shaking slightly alongside the unsub, who seems to be way more nervous then at the start.
BANG!
You can hear the loud bang of a gun go off in your ear, the loud noise causing ringing in your ear. You can feel as the arms around you become loose and the pressure in your temple almost disappears. More tears flow down as you hear muffled footsteps around you, confusion taking over your brain.
“Hey… hey, are you okay?” someone says, but you can’t quite put it to a face.
You can’t control yourself as you feel yourself fall to the ground, crawling away from whatever scene was behind you. Your body is tense as your tears fall to the dirty concrete floor below you, your head unable to even process what happened.
“Hey, open your eyes please? It’s me, it’s just me, Spencer” the voice comes into play again as he kneels in front of you, less muffled this time as you can finally put it to a face.
You breathe in heavily as your eyes open, you can see the rest of the BAU surrounding the dead body of the unsub, causing your head to get dizzy.
“Look at me, please” Spencer says, gently redirecting your focus to him instead of the gruesome sight of blood and gore. His hands rub your back reassuringly, trying to comfort you as you come to terms with what happened.
Your body lets out a strangled sob into the palms of your shaky hands, your shoulders tremble with each desperate cry. You can’t help it, your brain is just so overwhelmed with emotions and thoughts.
“Shh, you're gonna be okay, you’re safe now” he whispers, his arms wrapping me in a comforting embrace. He hugs you in a way you’ve never been hugged before, his arms emitting a cozy and protective barrier around you both.
Your body still wracked with sobs as you cling onto Spencer, you can hear Hotch call for medical backup and the coroner in the background.
“You were so brave” Spencer says, his arms bringing you up to your feet and supporting half your weight.
He helps you walk out of the warehouse, your face burying into his shoulder as you cross the death scene on the floor, you don’t want to look at it at all. You sit down in the open trunk of one of the BAU’s SUVs, waiting for medical to come and check you over. The whole time, your hand was held reassuringly by your best friend. You definitely needed him at this moment, here with you, comforting you.
Eventually an ambulance and the coroner's vehicle show up, taking the unsub’s body away in a bag as the paramedics check you over. They concluded that you didn’t have any serious physical injuries, just a bruise on your temple. You got up from the back of the ambo, heading back to where Spencer was watching.
“What did the paramedics say?” he says, meeting you halfway from where you were walking, his hand going against the small of your back.
“I’m good to go, just gonna have a killer headache” you say, burying your head into his chest.
You stay like this for a while, his hand rubbing your back gently as you press your face into his sweater vest. He smells nice, like vanilla and the light scent of wool.
“Alright everyone, let's head out” you can hear Hotch say as he gets us into the two SUV’s.
You get into the SUV with Spencer, Derek and Emily. Emily sits in the passenger side as Derek drives, you and Spencer in the back as you lay your head in his lap. You fall asleep rather fast, your hands clinging at the fabric of his pants as if he might slip through your fingers if you don't. His hand subconsciously going for your hair, his slim fingers playing with your hair.
“You really love them, don't you?” Derek speaks up after driving for a while, noticing your sleeping body in the rearview mirror.
Spencer stops playing with your hair as he hears Derek, his face heating up.
“Well- of course I care for them, they’re my best friend” Spencer mutters, moving a strand of your hair away from your face.
“Come on kid, they’ve been laying in your lap for the whole car ride.” Derek laughs “they like you too, you know, everyone on this team can see”
Spencer looks down at you as you rest, admiring your sleepy face as he ponders the possibility of you feeling the same.
“No.. no they don’t, they’re way out of my league” Spencer replies quietly, his eyes not leaving you.
“You think they don’t? Look at where they’re sleeping right now, they like you enough to sleep on top of you” Derek jokes, and Spencer can hear the quiet laughing of Emily in the passenger seat.
“You really think they like me?” Spencer smiles softly, his hands returning to your hair once again.
“If you ask them out, I don’t know why they wouldn’t say yes” Derek shrugs.
“Morgan, I’m a socially awkward genius who’s never been on a date before, I don’t even know where to start!” Spencer quips, fidgeting nervously with his shirt sleeve.
“Just tell them you like them and would like to get food with them. I’m sure whatever you do, they’ll like it, they even like the same nerdy things you do!” he teases Spencer.
A beat…
“I think I’m gonna ask them out” Spencer smiles, looking up at Derek as he drives.
“Good, because the team is sick of you both making goo goo eyes when you both aren't looking” Derek teases him.
“No we don’t” Spencer blushes, gently caressing your face as he thinks.
He can feel as your grip on his pants gets tighter, your head readjusting carefully in his lap.
“For a genius, you are quite stupid” Emily finally speaks up, Spencer’s eyes widening.
“Come on Spencer, how can you not see it?” she adds as her body twists, looking behind her.
“What do I do then? I don’t want to ask them out and then have things be weird between us!” he replies nervously, feeling like a love-sick teenager.
“Just be confident Reid” Emily smiles, giving him a thumbs up.
The team finally pulls into the hotel parking lot after a very long day. He looks back down at you, brushing your hair out of your face.
“Just be confident” he repeats in his head, sighing.

Stayaway
In an attempt to get out of funk, here is a very short, not edited, written-directly-into-tumblr, song-inspired grealt x reader fic. Inspired by Stayaway by MUNA (the best band in the world, begging y'all to listen to their music you will be forever changed!!).
*********
"Come on! I know you're home, I followed you!"
The bard was yelling and banging on your door incessantly and you knew you had to answer eventually. The bastard followed you home after all, he knows where you live.
"I'm not home!" you shouted back, delusional.
"Y/N! I may be a fool but I'm not stupid," he replied, and you could hear the familiar smile pulling at his lips, "Now open up! The door and your heart!"
"Jask," you sighed, laughing despite yourself at his poetic antics, "go away!"
"No! I miss you!"
"I'm not home!" you tried again, will wavering.
"Y/N!" he pleaded, and you swore you could hear half that cursed smile pull down into a pout.
You rested your forehead against the door and bit your lip, debating. All the while, your hand betrayed you, reached for the doorknob and turned it open.
Before you knew it, you were face to face with an old friend and while the sight of him filled you with joy, you were also flooded with other, less welcome feelings of remembrance.
"Y/N!" he exclaimed, pushing himself into your home and saving you from dwelling on the heavy memories that tried to creep up over you. "You're home, what are the odds?"
"Hilarious as always, Jaskier," you said, closing the door behind him. "What brings you to my little hamlet?"
"Fate, chance, what have you," he said, his cheery demeanor working overtime to cover for his abject curiosity, "The sea called and I had to answer. You know how it is."
"I do, do I?"
"Don't you? I mean you just disappeared... I assumed something called and you, you know, answered?" His tone stayed light, the practiced levity of someone who's spent years buttering people up for information all while staying neutral.
"I guess..." you bit your cheek, busying yourself by playing hostess, and pouring you both a glass of wine, "things changed and I thought, 'hell, why not change too?'"
"Fair enough... oh thank you."
"Of course," you said, taking a sip of wine yourself before guiding you both towards your couch, "but seriously Jaskier, why are you here?"
"Seriously? I was just passing through on my way to Oxenfurt when I saw a familiar face. A face I thought I'd never see again..."
You looked up from your glass then, but immediately regretted it when you met the bard's earnest gaze.
"Yennefer thought she saw you in Novigrad a while back but then... nothing. We thought you were gone for good."
"Jaskier, come on," you pleaded, praying he wouldn't elaborate on who 'we' entailed, while another, less disciplined part of you hoped for the opposite. Maybe if you knew he missed you, maybe if you knew he was looking for you... maybe you could let yourself be found.
No!
"Don't shake your head at me, Y/N. You disappear from the city, you quit your job, no one has seen you at the pub, the library - anywhere!"
"I- I know... but Jask," you stammered, trying to start three sentences at once and fumbling them all.
"I mean, you loved your job, didn't you? And what about us?" he asked, voice cracking slightly. "Gods, was the breakup that bad?"
"The thing is, Jask," you sputtered between large sips of wine, "It wasn't. It was easy, actually. He did what he always does when we fight; scowl, shut down, turn away, and then take it out on our friends. The break was clean."
"If it was so clean, then why did you leave?"
"It's the rest of it! The, the staying away that was, is impossible. If I had stayed and kept going it out with you guys, we'd drink and dance and I'd wonder where he is. Or one moment I'd be at the library studying and the next, Yen be asking me about the breakup and trying to 'cheer' me up by bringing up the good times and next thing you know? I'm answering the door for him when he rolls back into town injured and brooding. I couldn't stand it! I- I couldn't risk it."
"That's -"
"Pathetic? I know."
"No! No, but if there were so many good times, so many reasons to go back then why not-"
"Damn it, Jaskier! This is why I had to leave." You said, gesturing between the two of you before dropping your hand on your lap with a smack. "If I let him back in, then he's not the man who broke my heart anymore. Not the one who told me I was overemotional for being worried when he'd disappear for months. Suddenly everything is fine... until it's not and I'm hurt and alone again."
You felt tears begin to prick the back of your eyes and shoved the heel of your palms into them to force them down.
"Hey... Y/N," Jaskier said, gently pulling your hands away from your eyes and taking them in his. "I'm sorry, I didn't know..."
"It's okay," you said, giving your friends hands a squeeze and looking up to the ceiling, letting your tears fall for a moment, "I'm okay."
"Y/N..."
"Oh alright, but I'll be okay," you amended, laughing at yourself lightly and wiping the tears away. "Jaskier, don't look so sad. I just need time, space, distance... I will be fine."
Your words had little effect on your friend though, who seemed to grow more anxious and sad with every passing moment. You quirked your brow at him and shoved his shoulder playfully, trying to break the mood.
"Jaskier, will you relax?" you asked, desperate to get him to smile now. You really had missed Jaskier and now that he was here, you realized how much you wanted him to stick around.
"Y/N, I'm really sorry." He whispered, refusing to meet your gaze.
You were about to try another lighthearted quip when you heard a knock at your door. Not someone knocking, just a knock. One quick but deliberate rap.
"Who...?" you heard yourself asking, even though you only ever knew one person who knocked on doors like that.
"Y/N, I'm so so sorry," Jaskier kept repeating. "I really didn't know. I never would have told him if I'd known."
Your mouth was bone dry but you couldn't get your hand to reach for your glass of wine. You just kept staring at Jaskier, watching him babble.
"I'll go tell him to leave, Y/N, I'm so sorry," you heard him say, his voice barely registering over the ringing in your ears.
You felt him get up off the couch, your blurred vision registering the now empty spot on the couch only after you heard your door be pulled open.
Every fiber of your being was on fire. You were frozen. You wanted to throw yourself on the floor. You wanted to run to him.
"Y/N..." you heard him say. Fuck he sounded sad. You wanted to hold him, tell him it'll be okay. You wanted to slam the door in his face. You forgive him. You'll never forgive yourself.
Against your better judgement, you felt yourself to turn look towards the front door and your breath caught when you saw him.
Gods above, you thought, he should have stayed away.

Please don’t Say You Love Me
~Aged up Neteyam x female reader
~angst, slow burn, eventually smut, toxic relationship???
~proofread?- yes
~Summary-As children, Neteyam and [Y/n] were the closest friends until they weren't
~Miss me😝?
Tumblr media
Your mother and father weren't around. It was always you and your older sister, but it didn't bother you because your sister was everything you needed. Your parents were drunks who would leave for months at a time, which nobody ever noticed.
Your sister was busy most of the time trying to cover for your parents leaving you alone, but that's when you met Neteyam. “Hi!” you turned around to see a toothless smile from the boy. You stood up and looked at him, “Hi,” he giggled before trying to grab your tail, “i’m Neteyam, wannabe friends?”
You stopped the boy who was chasing your tail, “Sure, but i’m in charge!” he nodded, and from then you two have been nothing but best friends. You spent your days with him, doing whatever till your sister came and got you. “[Y/n], mom’s home!” your sister smiled ear to ear. “Coming!” you hugged Neteyam, “I’ll see you tomorrow!”
You walked hand in hand with your sister till you saw them, “Daddy!” you ran into his arms, “Wow look how big you’ve gotten!” you hugged your mother next, “I can do a lot now that I’m taller!” you beamed at them, “are you guys going to stay this time?” your sister wasted no time in asking.
“Yeah about that, we just wanted to grab a few things before we headed out,” your sister’s smile fell, “what,” you noticed the tension, “it's okay, you’ve been taking great care of [Y/n] and it's like nobody even noticed we were gone!”
Your mother patted your head while getting closer to your sister, “i’m twelve, Mom I can't take care of a five-year-old,” your father sighed, “Yes you can,” you felt tears in your eyes, “I can barely do the jobs your suppose to do what makes you think I'm capable of handling a child?”
“You're leaving again?” your father picked you up, “it won't be for long we just wanna travel, see the world,” he looked at your sister, “you get that right?” she started crying, “We didn't ask to be born, the world is always gonna be there, we should be the priority!”
“Don’t you talk to your father that way,” your father put you down, “maybe when you're older you’ll understand,” he grabbed his bag and your mother followed him, “No, when i’m older I'll be a decent person and not have children I don't want.” as if they didn't hear they still left.
“Why don't they want us?” you walked to your sister, “I don't know, but you it doesn't matter.” she hugged you, “We have each other and that's all we need.” you smiled into the hug, “I love you, sissy,” a tear fell from her eyes, “I love you.”
Your sister was your everything, if you didn't know what to do you went to her. Neteyam always asked questions like “Where's your mommy?” To which you always said, “She's right there!” it always confused him because how could someone so short be a mother? “That's not your mommy,” you frowned, “does your mommy cook for you?” he nodded, “does she play with you?” he nodded again, “So does mine which makes her a mommy.” you smiled big before getting up, “My mommy is just a little younger but she's mine so I don't mind.”
Most people noticed the absence of your parents and tried to help, your sister always knew if help was needed she could get it, especially from Neteyam’s family.
The older you got, the more closer you guys became and it was like nothing could ever separate you from him. You were now 12, you hadn't seen your parents in years but it wasn't like you were missing them. Neteyam started becoming busier and you didn't mind it in the beginning, but he started changing. Any time you wanted to hang out it was like he didn't want to be seen with you. “Teyem,” you waved at the boy.
He rolled his eyes, “hey, [Y/n],” he said as he kept walking, “I wanted to know if you wanted to come over later and we could have a sleepover!” you smiled but it seemed like Neteyam didn't care, “I don't think I can,” you nodded, “maybe tomorrow?” he sighed, “[Y/n], don’t you think people might think something?” you shrugged, “think what?”
“That were together? We aren't kids anymore, it’s weird for us to hang out alone,” you frowned, “oh, I see,” you looked at him, “So, we can’t hang out anymore?” he groaned, “i’m trying to be nice [Y/n],” you stopped walking, “I get it.”
You turned and ran straight home, you had never cried as hard as you did that night. You weren't going to beg for someone’s attention if he didn't want to be your friend, fine by you.
Tumblr media
You grew up, it took you a while to get over the loss of your friendship but you did. At least you forced yourself to. You became a beauty, something everyone wanted but you were more interested in healing. You spent most of your time learning and if you weren't you were getting lost in the forest. Always finding things to make bracelets for your sister. You were 22, your sister was 29, and mated. You liked him he was nice, but you knew your sister wanted you to find your own mate. You couldn't care less as you walked deep into the trees, you hadn't noticed the eyes that followed you.
Neteyam watched as you walked, he wanted to talk to you but fear stopped him. He knew you didn't want to talk, and he knew it was his fault. He had let other boys' words into his head. Making him believe you two couldn't be friends. You were his first crush and at the time he didn't want people knowing but now it was like a curse that plagued him.
You hummed as you walked, and Neteyam kept staring. He regretted everything he said to you the minute you turned away. He wanted to say sorry but he felt like it was too late. Ever since that day, you have been waiting for an explanation, you thought at least he owed you that, but it seemed like he couldn't even muster that.
“His loss,” is what you said but you still waited for him. As you kept looking at the flowers, you heard a tree branch break, “who's there?” you turned looking for something. Neteyam wanted to run but he decided last minute to try and mend things, “hey,” he said showing you a small smile.
You let your guard down before scoffing and turning, he hasn't said anything to you in years, and now he follows you into the woods? This man is trying the wrong one, “[Y/n], please I wanna explain!”
You kept walking, “Explain that you are nothing but a piece of shit who deserves nothing?” you faked a smile, and gasped, “Wait we already know that, so what is there to talk about?” he sighed, “I understand your anger, I really do but please let me apologize.”
“Please, what daddy figured out what you did and is forcing you to do this?” you stopped walking finally facing him. “Listen I don't want your sorry, I am not trying to fix things, I don't care for you, and I refuse to hear you out,” Neteyam’s ears fell back, “leave me alone, teyem.”
You turn to keep walking, but Neteyams grabs you, “You're the only person who still calls me that.” you look at him, “It was a mistake,” you go to take your arm back and step back but trip and fall into one of the flowers that surround you.
It releases a juice before you sit up and start coughing. Neteyam soon hit with the pheromones and started coughing himself, “I know you don’t want to hear me out, but for what it’s worth I am sorry.” you stood up before walking away, “whatever.”
This time he didn't follow you, but a fuzziness filled his chest. A calmness overtook him as he walked back, what the hell was that flower?
You rubbed your chest as you walked home, nobody was on your mind the way Neteyam was. You groaned annoyed why were you thinking of him, “[Y/n], good news Jake invited us over for a special dinner,” you groaned, “what?”
“Yeah, he said he had good news, maybe you and Neteyam could maybe rekindle,” you rubbed your eyes, getting hot thinking about Neteyam. “good,” is all your able to muster out, “really? Good I assumed you wouldn't want to go but I'm glad to hear you are!” you nodded as she spoke. You never told her how you and Neteyam fell out, you were to embarrassed, and didn't like thinking about it.
“Go get ready!” is all she says after pushing you towards your space, “wear something flattering,” you sighed as you rubbed your legs together, she knew something you didn't. You couldn't care less to think much about it though so you got ready and sat on the floor thinking about your day.
It dawns on you when you fell, you must've fallen on an aphrodisiac flower making you sigh. Tonight was going to be very interesting.
Meanwhile, Neteyam sat in utter silence his mind just waiting for you to appear. He couldn't wait to see you, he looked creepy staring at the opening and waiting for you to show. “Looking a little creepy there,” Lo’ak cracked a joke before sitting down himself, “huh,” was all he could say. His eyes were low and he spoke very calmly, “Bro you high?” Beteyam shook his head, “Dad kill me if he thought I did that shit,” Lo’ak laughed, “Well you sure as hell look like your high.”
“I’m not,” was all he could say as you and your sister finally walked in, “hello welcome!” Neytiri said as you both sat down. His eyes burned into your skull while everyone else spoke. You felt the slick between your thighs knowing he was watching you.
You scolded yourself as you adjusted yourself, “he isn't your friend, [Y/n],” you said to yourself as you felt Jake’s eyes, “I hear you are the best healer after Mo’at,” You nodded slowly, “I try,” is all you could say.
“Well if everything goes smoothly, Neteyam will have an amazing tsahik,” you blink hard then mutter some words, “Huh,” your sister hit your leg telling you to shut up, “you know we were hoping you and Neteyam could hopefully make the bond.” “Oh.”
Neteyam didn't tell his family you guys had fallen out, you nodded as everyone kept talking and the more you said down the more you started becoming uncomfortable and the more you wanted to fuck and hit Neteyam. The feeling started becoming too much, “I'm sorry can I use the bathroom,” was all you said before getting up.
Tears fell from your eyes as you walked, fuck Neteyam and the way he made you feel. The way you couldn't stop thinking about him, or the way you saw him come your way. “Neteyam, please,” was all you could say before you kissed him.
Your body connected to him perfectly, “why are you doing this to me,” was all you could say as you hugged him, “I hate you.”
“I know,” was all he said as he kissed you, “I don't deserve you,” you frowned before finally pushing off him, “You ruined my life and you didn't even tell your family.”
“I don't need you Neteyam, I have my sister that's all I need,” you felt tears fall from your eyes.
“but I still want you.”

Bad Teachings (Pt. 8)
Tumblr media
Older!Miguel O'Hara x Reader

Summary: Rekindling things lead to new and unexpected discoveries.
Absolute thanks to my beta reader <;3 @oharasmommymilkers00
Comments and reblogs are highly appreciated c: Masterlist Pt. 9
"So, how's it going? When did you return?"
Manicured hands clasped together, inviting Simon to keep talking. After your little impromptu reunion, you had texted him the next day, and between little jokes and mild flirting, Simon asked you on a date.
Let's catch up and see where it goes.
He had stayed the same since college. Ever straightforward and head-on with his words.
Even though the small restaurant bustled with people, you could still hear each other.
"Been alright. I was back a couple of weeks ago. I have been wandering the city to see any changes, but nah. The same. Can't say the same about you."
Your eyebrow arched at his words, which he quickly tried to explain.
"Not in a bad way! I swear! It just... took me by surprise seeing you so different. All I can remember is you wearing hoodies, jeans, or sweatpants."
Chuckling, you took a sip of your drink and pursed your lips.
"Had to get my glow up one way or another."
"What I'm trying to say is that you look fantastic."
"Thank you, Si. You look great as well."
And he did. Both of you had changed for the better. He used to be that average exchange student that was more remarkable for people making fun of his accent between lighthearted jokes and a bit of a chubber.
Simon was tall, but if it came to compare heights, he'd reach Miguel by the shoulders. He had to crane his neck up to meet his eyes. And now that he had been gone for nearly three years to pursue his dream of finishing his career abroad, he had changed physically.
Earning looks from the people as he walked by. He was handsome. But the goofiness and soft-spoken person he was remained the same.
Your glasses clinked as both of you enjoyed the talk.
His eyes remained fixed on your face with a guilty smile "I am sorry, though. For leaving so suddenly."
Your eyes widened softly at his words but quickly dismissed them.
"Are you kidding me? I would've done the same if I had a chance to study abroad with a scholarship, too. Don't feel guilty about it."
"I want to make things right and avoid any misunderstanding between us. Or for you to think I escaped from you."
You couldn't help but laugh and cover your mouth to tone it down.
"You say so like it was so bad and toxic!"
It was his turn to giggle.
"It was."
You gasped as he laughed while taking your hand.
"I'm joking, of course. I had fun those four months."
"Even though we barely had time in between classes?"
"Yes. I was so glad when we had to take that class together with... Miss Lyla, I think?"
"Oh! Office Automation. Yeah. Man, she was such a good teacher."
"She was unhinged."
You had to hold back an ugly snort as your cheeks reddened in laughter.
"She was. But I owe my job to her and Mi-... Mr. O'Hara." You swallowed, "That's what I do daily."
"I'm surprised you know Mr. O'Hara after all these years."
You've got no idea.
Your brow quirked nervously, and he leaned in towards you.
"Like, I heard so much about him back then, but I didn't know who he was, and when he introduced himself when I found you, it clicked. Didn't know he was that guy."
"That guy? What do you mean?"
Simon cleared his throat.
"I know this is an old story, but a couple of days before my dropout, I heard Miss Lyla and him were hooking up."
You blinked as little waves of confusion washed over you at this information. Even though Miguel had told you about his little affairs here and there, you didn't expect it to be with one of your favorite teachers.
"The things you learn. Like for real?"
"Yeah. I mean, both hooked a couple of times before he called it off, but don't believe me. The source was a girl that had a massive crush on him."
A little glint in your eyes shone as he mentioned Miguel stopping it.
"It makes so much sense now! She was one of the few teachers, along with Mrs. Drew, that you could see him being comfortable around enough to be more talkative."
You spoke, and he shrugged.
"I wouldn't know for real. I quit before the semester ended, and I never took classes with him remember? But damn, gossip was a thing."
"He was brutal."
"Oh, I bet. Mr. O’Hara looks quite intimidating. You passed?."
You laughed humorlessly
"I nearly fail. But I pushed through. He was demanding, but yeah."
"Right. College aside, are you still... y'know, living with your parents?"
"Oh no, no. I moved out. Mostly to be near my job."
"Great. I just moved in with my roommate as well. Nice guy, gives me his leftover pizza."
Both giggled and mocked at the silliness of the situation. It brought you back to times when you'd be holed up in the library, either talking or sharing quick kisses between studying sessions when you had the time to do so.
But right now, catching up with him felt good. Your social circle expanded in baby steps, which made you feel like a blooming social butterfly.
Simon's hand took yours to squeeze it softly with a charming smile.
"Wanna go for a walk?"
"Sure."
---
As days went by, your work grew more interesting. The new Bossman, Julius, was strict enough to make most of your coworkers work for real.
You had a couple of photoshoots redone since his eyes were as critical as his mouth. But you had not only learned. But apply those tricks to your arts and hobbies.
The knitting had improved despite the need to buy more supplies soon, but finally, you got the garter stitch right. And as predictable as it was, you'd get started with a scarf. So far, it looked decent, and the wools Hobie sold you seemed perfect for the task.
As you created a mental note to tell Hobie to save you some colors in your next paycheck your phone buzzed. Miguel's name on your screen gave your chest a little irregular thump upon remembering the conversation with Simon. It seemed like the perfect timing.
"Huh-lo?"
You could hear him laughing on the other line
"It's Aló, not huh-lo."
"I'm trying!"
He chuckled "Try harder 'cause that was awful."
"Teach me then." You rolled your eyes, and there was a silence as he gulped involuntarily.
"Are you sure?"
"You were already a teacher, so yeah. You want me to understand it, right? Then teach me."
His grip on his phone tightened as he sighed, asking for strength from the heavens.
"I will. Promise."
"Good. Anyways, is everything ok?"
There was a slight shuffling on his side of the call before the sound of a dragged chair made you scrunch your nose at the sudden noise.
"Yeah. Sorry for that, deep cleaning day."
"Oh? Cool. Want me to make you a Playlist for your cleaning days?"
His rich, deep laugh sent you chuckling, and your skin crawled.
"No, thanks. Though, music is a good way to start learning a language."
"Aye, sir. Any artist you recommend?"
He chuckled
"Might do get you a playlist for simple things. It's a good start."
"Why, thank you. Mr. O'Hara."
He groaned in annoyance, and you giggled. If you’d had any idea of how much he hated when you called him like that, he was sure you’d stop. Even if it was just to annoy him. It made him feel old.
"I appreciate it though. I always wanted to learn another language."
"How's the French going?"
It was your turn to groan. A 'How's Simon doing' would be the most accurate translation of it.
"Not so good. My tongue gets twisted. Might do ask Simon directly as well."
There was more shuffling on your line as you got the Bluetooth earbuds and linked them to continue your closet and makeup cleaning as you were on the call.
The silence stretched for a solid minute until you spoke again.
"Hello? Are you still there?
"Yeah, I was getting some coffee."
His tone was soft.
"Jesus, stop drinking that much coffee." You shook your head with a disapproving look you were sure he’d just laugh off. "Anyways, I wanna ask you something. And I need you to be honest."
"Why do I feel you're about to ask something ridiculous or unhinged?"
You laughed
"Up to you to decide if it is. Did you hook up with Miss Lyla?"
He burned his tongue at your sudden question with the coffee, truly surprised you’d ask such things.
"Oh... That." He cleared his throat, "I did. Just twice, though. Why?"
Your eyes widened as your mouth clammed up for a moment. As uncomfortable as it was, Miguel didn’t lie. After all, he had told you about these things in your first outing together.
"Was it before... or after me?"
Clearly. you remembered the conversation like a lucid dream.
Desperate times.
"Before. Why are we discussing this? More importantly, who told you this?"
You swallowed and sighed. His voice was a bit on the edge.
"Old stories I recently heard. And Simon did. Our date was full of old stories. I'm so glad he didn't take classes with you."
His eyes drooped in boredom upon you saying the word date. Of course, you’d have a date with him. It was natural to return to what one knew. He thought you were less naive than that but would watch it unfold from afar. He’d never miss a chance to say “I told you so”.
The satisfaction of being right about his intuition was a pleasure he enjoyed terribly.
"Bien pinche chismoso" (Such a freaking tattletale)
He grumbled after taking a sip of his bitter coffee
"Uh, what?"
"Nothing. I assume you dated him?"
You threw a couple of old eyeshadow palettes in the trash.
"Yeah, just for four months before he went back to France to finish his career there."
"How cute.”
“You’re just being mean. Don’t you trust my judgment?”
“ I don't trust Simon."
You laughed again, but his face remained serious
"Ah, C'mon. Why?"
"I was young too, guapa. Guys his age are up to no good."
You folded a couple of skirts as your lips pouted.
"I appreciate your concern regarding this. But seriously, Simon hasn't changed that much. He's the same goofy ass from college days."
He scoffed nonchalantly "Are you sure of it? People change. And sometimes is not precisely for the good."
You smiled at his words.
"Well, thanks for the support. Means alot. But I'll be fine."
You heard him sigh
"Right."
"And you're not that old."
He snorted as he put the half cup of coffee on the table
"I'm forty-two, guapa. I say I'm old enough to have my fair share of life wisdom. And that guy is certainly hiding something."
"I'm not arguing against that. You look like you have gone through a bit more stuff."
"Are you calling me a mess?"
Again, you laughed. The sound made him smile.
"My my, so sensitive!. I say you look mature enough. Even though I know maturity isn't linked directly with age, your way of carrying yourself about things makes you a reliable and trustworthy friend. I like that."
His eyes widened a bit at your words
"Didn't know you were into older guys."
"Yup. I mean, you guys know what you want. Or at least most of you do. And that's good cause I don't like teaching younger people what they want. I'm not a rehab center." Your lips pursed, "I like learning."
He gulped and wet his lips with his tongue.
"But yeah, anyways, thanks for calling. Always good to hear you."
"Likewise, guapa. Take care.""Bye, Miguel."
The call ended, and you smiled. Miguel on the other hand, rubbed his face as he pondered at your words.
You liked learning. That was certain. Either academically or in life. But you did. And he liked that too.
-----
— Hello Sweetheart
Dad's number had popped out on your screen, but Hobie's rambling snapped his attention back to you.
You returned home from work a couple of hours early and Mrs. Brown invited you over for a cup of tea.
The apartment smelled like a mix of spices and herbs, along with a touch of vanilla cigarettes. The apartment had two bedrooms, the kitchen was bigger than yours just like the living room area.
Your apartment was the smallest on the floor. Everyone had a two or three-bedroom lease, but for you, a one-bedroom accommodated just fine.
Mrs. Brown was gentle but didn't doubt voicing her concerns and opinions with such delicacy and refinement one would think she'd be complimenting you. No wonder Hobie or  Hobart, a little giggle from you when she called him that when he arrived from work carried himself the way he did.
She was supportive and loving. The only authority I wouldn't rebel against said the tattoo artist as you accompanied him into getting his weekly grocery shopping.
His van had been in repair, and now he wasn't sure if he’d get any news anytime soon.
Hey, Dad. How are you? —
Hobie took a look at your piercings and approved your current care. You had also told him about the wools, even paid him ahead, which he used to pay for the groceries.
—Missing you, darling. Are you alright?
The question had you smiling softly. He was always so caring and worried about you. When you first told him you'd move out, he was glad. Congratulated you even, au contraire of your mom who started complaining almost immediately.
"Birdie?"
"Hm?
Your eyes left your phone screen to look at him.
"You good? Kinda spaced out there."
You nodded.
"Yeah, just talking with my dad."
"They want you to visit?"
You nodded with an annoyed groan.
Not that you disliked your parents. Their relationship with you was strained as it was.
"Hard upbringing?"
"More like... Not really there- sort of upbringing."
Hobie put the groceries in the back seat of your Cooper and sat on the passenger seat.
"Yikes."
You shrugged. Not dwelling on the past trauma wound that remained ever fresh. You drove back to the apartment building.
"Sorry to hear that. Seems like people  have kids to fill their inner voids."
"Right?! But man, saying that out loud is sure a social death sentence."
"Hypocrisy at its finest. Society is always changing, most of the time is never for good reasons."
You nodded but snorted softly.
"Whut?"
"Nothing, It's funny when we talk like phylosophers on weed."
Hobie chuckled and relaxed into his seat.
"You know? I owe you an apology."
"Whatever for?"
You stopped at a red light and looked at him.
"My mother... she said some comments I didn't like when she came up for a visit a couple of days ago."
"And why do you apologize on her behalf?"
I'm good. A bit busy with work as usual, but I was planning on calling you—
"No, I apologize 'cause it wasn't nice."
You mumbled as you typed in your screen.
"Why are you assuming other's wrongdoings as yours? And in all honesty, I couldn't care less what people think of me. Specially corporate slaves."
The light turned green and you drove again.
"I don't know. Just..."
"Apologize when you are the one at fault, birdie. The rest is irrelevant. Thanks for the warning tho’."
—Yeah, your mom told me that you still have things packed up and that you're not ready yet to live alone.
—Wanna talk about it?
If only his passiveness wouldn't be so dragging to the point of always ending up siding with your mother in little matters that only added more weight to the already full bag of terribly handled emotions. He'd be your favorite.
You parked in the building and helped Hobie to carry the shops. Mrs. Brown made you both a delicious English breakfast for dinner. They didn't believe in consistency, if Mrs. Brown wanted something, she made it. And her cooking was good, especially in the pudding making.
You hadn't looked at the screen yet, so blissfully ignorant to not care for a bit.
Hobie then kept boasting about how it was bad for people to keep assuming other's fault. He told his mom about it, and she just agreed. They had this strong bond you had stopped longing for a long time ago. It was easier for you to see smells and taste colors than to keep a healthy relationship with your parents.
—Honey?
But of course, you dreaded so many things. Even though the upbringing seemed the perfect chance to toughen your mind, angry confrontations weren't your thing. Cause in a hypothetical perfect world, everyone is emotionally intelligent enough to know how to express and regulate their feelings.
But neither the world nor your life were perfect.
You went to your apartment and finally took a look at the messages. Anger boiled in your head, and as usual, you'd have to explain yourself.
You were tired of it.
I would appreciate it if you'd stop believing everything Mom says.
The message was clear, but you deleted it last second as you snapped a quick video and sent it to him instead.
Do you see any boxes on the floor? —
It sounded way too curt and petty than you intended to, but maybe that way he'd start getting his criterion in check.
—No, I'm sorry. When are you coming for a visit?
When you stop taking sides
Again, the message was deleted. Being passive-aggressive with them wouldn't help either. Sighing, you typed once more.
Next weekend, but I will stay Saturday night only. I use Sundays for prepping for the week :) —
Not even Judas was so disingenuous as that emoji at the end.
—Oh gotcha, gotcha. Still, would be wonderful to have you over.
Please don't tell Mom. I want it to be a surprise. —
More like, I don't want her to be all nagging and harassing my inbox with her pretentious texts.
Your mind chanted
—Of course. Love you
Hopefully, she will be out on a business trip and you'll be enjoying with your dad.
Love you too, dad —
It was going to be draining and difficult. But you’d push through. You always did.
You had to.

Is It Working For You? Part 4 | Rooster x Reader
Welcome back! Just making sure you didn't miss anything Masterlist
Summary: Back at the Hard Deck, Bradley shows off his talents. So what if you're a little jealous, you can handle it, right?
Warnings: angst, fluff, some swears, adult banter, getting more into 18+
Length: 3600
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Female Reader
Tumblr media
"Let me get this straight, you don't want to go out with him, but you want to go to the Hard Deck tonight to see if he's there?" Maria asked you as you shared a takeout dinner in your tiny apartment.
"Yes. Why doesn't that make sense to you?"
"Because it's ridiculous."
"So are you coming with me?" You whined, "Please, please, please. I'll look stupid if I go by myself, and Cam has a date with that guy who works for the financial planner."
Exasperated, Maria tilted her head back and reluctantly agreed. "Fine, but all my drinks go on your tab. And you're not allowed to embarrass me."
And that's how you found yourselves crammed into the Hard Deck at 9:30 on Saturday night. You hadn't realized until you got there that an aircraft carrier had arrived into port earlier that evening, and the place was swarming with crew members and their families.
"Holy shit, we'll never get all the way up to the bar to get a drink at this rate!" Maria complained. "Start throwing elbows."
"Sure," you muttered, head on a swivel, looking for Rooster. Maria just kept nudging you closer and closer to the bar where Penny and Jimmy were looking really frazzled. You and she ended up leaving with four beers and four tequila shots, afraid it might be awhile before you made it back for more.
"There's an empty spot on that ledge!" Maria yelled, and you prayed you could make it that far without wearing any of the tequila. Of course said ledge had a perfect view of the dartboard and Rooster, who had seemingly just arrived for the night.
You weren't sure if he had seen you yet. Then it struck you that he was perhaps going to keep avoiding you. Your stomach twisted uncomfortably at the thought. Since he had his back turned your way, you took the opportunity to take inventory. Wild Hawaiian shirt? Check. Very touchable curly hair? Check. Jeans that were maybe slightly too tight but did lovely things for his butt? Double check.
"Why can't I meet a nice civilian who has a butt that tight?" you moaned into the beer that Maria handed you. And it wasn't even the beer you usually drank, the same one Bradley preferred as well. It was a weird pilsner and you didn't even really want it.
"You are so transparent in your lust for him, poor Rooster probably can't figure out what he did wrong with you," Maria said as she worked on her own bottle of beer. "I maintain that you deserve to be ignored. And, yes, I know you have your reasons, but you always jump to conclusions. Even Kyle was fun until he wasn't, right? It's never all bad. You never know, you could have a long and happy life with Bradley. A house in the country, some kids, maybe eventually grandkids. He would mow the lawn shirtless, you would bake him pies. A real love story."
You snorted. "Jesus, you sound like my mom."
"Yikes, time for shots then!" You each downed two shots in a row, and it wasn't too long until you started chatting with a friendly sailor and his wife who were next to you at the ledge. You actually managed to lose track of time for a while before checking to see where Bradley had gone.
Over all the noise, you noticed that someone had turned off or unplugged the jukebox. Then you heard the tinkling of piano keys as someone seemed to be warming up to play the old upright piano on the other side of the bar, but there were too many people packed inside for you to see who it was.
That's when you recognized the opening notes to the song. Whoever it was at the piano was playing "Roses" by OutKast. "What the hell?" you whispered, grabbing Maria by the front of her shirt and shaking her. "Can you see who's playing the piano?"
She pulled your hand away and glared at you. Since she had a good couple inches on your height, you hoped she'd be able to see further than you could. "Okay, just chill out! Oh, it's him. It's Rooster."
Not that you really needed the confirmation.
He played through the piano intro of the song a few times as you immediately abandoned Maria and trekked through the crowd with your second beer. By the time you got close enough to actually see him, he was stretching his arms wide before pounding out something else altogether.
You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain...
Oh Lord, was that his singing voice?
Too much love drives a man insane...
It was raspy perfection. Like bourbon with a sugary bite to it.
You broke my will, but what a thrill...
The other aviators began to crowd around the piano as you inched a bit closer.
Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire!
Rooster had half the bar chanting along to the last line. Then everyone went completely wild, and you gaped at him as he played, clearly in his element as he entertained everyone. His aviator sunglasses were pushed down slightly lower on his nose and he winked at Phoenix, Bob and the others over the frames. His huge hands absolutely flew over the keys with that same elegant movement you'd already gotten used to from him.
As he finished the final notes at full volume, you caught his eye and a genuine smile crossed his face. You joined everyone in applauding him, even bouncing on your toes a bit in your excitement.
You wanted him. So. Badly. Your vision was a little bit all over the place, presumably from the tequila or the lust or both. You wondered if it was too late to get him to take you to that place in Del Mar after all. As you waffled back and forth, trying to decide the safest bet here, you noticed not one but two girls approach him where he was standing next to the piano. The jukebox screeched back to life just as your brain screeched to a full stop.
The girl on the right looked a bit like you, something that was very upsetting for your mind to process. And the other one, well she had her hand on his arm. And both of them were wearing clothing that looked like it was painted on. You glanced down at your boat shoes, ripped jeans and plain cotton tee. When you looked back up, Bradley was saying something that had both girls hooting with laughter.
Oh, you wanted to throw up. In fact, you thought you might.
"Hey, everything okay?" It was Phoenix, cautiously sidling up next to you. You realized you had been standing stricken, motionlessly clutching your beer bottle at chest height for who the hell knew how long.
Apparently you had a front row ticket to a riveting show called 'You Are Insanely Jealous And You Deserve Every Minute Of This', because not even fifteen feet away, Bradley was smiling at both girls.
"No, everything is bad. Very bad," you told Phoenix. "I am so dumb. God, I'm just terrible at this." Yet you were still unable to move.
"Look, I know he likes you. And honestly, he gets a ton of attention from the locals. This is really typical. It doesn't mean anything."
You turned to look at Phoenix, agony clearly written on your face. "He gets a ton of attention from them?"
"I mean, yeah, all the guys do. And Bradley's obviously pretty easy to look at. And he's nice to everyone, well except Bagman. But I think he would really rather have some attention from you, if I'm being honest here."
Your heart pounded harder as Maria came creeping through the crowds to your other side. "There you are! I couldn't find you, and then I ended up getting us some more shots while I was looking for you." She handed you a double shot of tequila and you downed it immediately, wiping your lips with the backs of your fingers.
And then one of the girls had Bradley's phone in her hand, and it looked like she was about to type in her phone number.
"Fuuuuck," you moaned as you handed your empty shot glass and beer bottle to Phoenix on your way to the piano.
-------------------------------------
Bradley's eyes stalked your every movement as you approached him. He had watched you knock back a shot and was a little nervous that meant you'd be leaving the bar for the night. Now it was like you were moving in slow motion for him. He noticed every toss of your hair and how your tongue peeked out of the corner of your mouth as you walked. The way your tight tee shirt pulled across your chest as you tossed your shoulders back in determination was almost his undoing. You looked just like you had last Saturday night when you spun around on your barstool, ready to put him in his place.
Then suddenly you were a foot in front of him, and he didn't know what to say. He had almost forgotten he had Libby and Charlotte attached to his arms. Or was it Lindsey and Scarlett? He had no idea.
"Hi," you told him in the steadiest voice you could manage.
"Hey, Y/N," Bradley replied, and to his shock he watched you pull his phone out of Libby's grasp and slap it against his chest, never once taking your eyes off his. Then you let your fingers trail down along every single button on the front of his shirt before clasping your hands in front of yourself.
"You can play piano," you told him, as if he was unaware of that particular talent he possessed.
"Yes, I can."
"You didn't play last weekend."
"No. I was too busy talking to you," he said in a matter of fact voice that had you biting your lip for a second.
"You played 'Roses'," you told him quietly.
Bradley nodded slowly as he tucked his phone back into his jeans pocket. "I did."
"Why?"
As he hiked his hands up onto his hips, he realized the other girls had vanished and he was more or less alone with you. "Why do you think?"
You shrugged dramatically. "I don't know, Rooster, probably to torture me?"
A startled laugh escaped him. "You think you're the one being tortured here? That's pretty funny. No, Y/N, I played it because I know you like it. And it's been stuck in my head since yesterday."
"It's been stuck in your head?" you asked, seemingly unsure of what else to say.
Bradley yanked his sunglasses off and let them hang from the top of his shirt. "Yeah, of course it has. It's been playing on repeat in my brain. I also can't stop thinking about that weird green hot sauce in the cafeteria that you like. Or how your car is the shittiest thing I've seen in a long time."
You looked down and fumbled with the hem of your shirt, but you were finally smiling. "It has character," you insisted.
"Sweetheart, please look at me," he muttered, and your eyes instantly snapped up again, pupils blown wide. "You're sending me some serious mixed signals here. I don't know what you want me to do. If you want me to stay away from you, just say so."
"I don't want that."
He sighed deeply. "You want to be just friends?" He watched you shrug in the most noncommittal way. "Because friends don't pull the kind of shit that you just did. You told me not to ask you out, then you sent those two girls packing. What's your deal?"
-------------------------------------
You stood before him, speechless. He was not going to let you off the hook easily. You swallowed down the awful feeling in your stomach. Wasn't honesty the best policy? You were so drunk, you weren't sure anymore. "What's my deal? I was incredibly jealous. That's my deal."
You watched Bradley's face for any sign of reaction, but he gave nothing away.
"Why were you jealous?"
"Isn't it obvious?" you muttered, wishing the floor would swallow you whole. Your head was spinning wildly, and you needed to tell Maria that there was no way you'd be able to walk back to your apartment tonight.
"No, Y/N. It is not obvious."
Time to face the music. "Because I like you, that's why. And I'm wildly attracted to you. Jesus, Bradley, how could I not be?"
Bradley shook his head, and it was making you dizzier just watching him. "So many fucking mixed signals," he said under his breath as you took a stumbling step backward. "Are you okay?"
"I think I drank too much," you managed as you tried to take your phone out of your pocket to text Maria. "I don't know where Maria went, but we came here together. I feel awful."
Bradley took you gently by the elbow, and spun you halfway around so you were facing away from him. "She's right over there," he told you, and you tried to look to where he was pointing, his forearm resting on your shoulder. Your head was swimming. "Do you want me to take you home?" he asked, and his sweet, raspy voice in your ear calmed you down.
"Maria and I can get a Lyft," you told him as you leaned back against his chest. This felt so nice, you wanted to curl up into him and fall asleep. Bradley's hand slid down the side of your shoulder, anchoring you to him while he rubbed you gently through your sleeve.
"Is she your roommate?" he asked, his voice rumbling through his chest and soothing your back.
"Mmhmm, she is."
"I'll drive you both home," he said, wrapping his other arm around your waist and leading you toward Maria on the way to the exit.
"Haven't you been drinking?" you asked as you tried to walk as normal as you could.
"Not a single drink tonight."
"Why not?" you asked with a yawn, desperate to keep him talking. You'd missed his voice over the last few days.
"Because I drank most of a bottle of scotch last night after work in hopes I would be able to fall asleep. I thought my liver deserved a night off."
You didn't remember much more after that, other than Maria taking your hand as you felt the cool night air hit your face. And as Bradley buckled you into his front seat, he whispered, "Please don't barf in my Bronco, Sweetheart," next to your cheek.
-----------------------------------
You jolted awake in your bed and sat up quickly. It was sunny in your bedroom and your mouth tasted terrible. "Oh my God, did I throw up in his Bronco?" you croaked to your bedroom walls. Desperate to know what time it was, you gently rolled across your bed to where your phone was charging on the nightstand next to your glasses. Your head was on the verge of imploding, you were certain of that. How much did you drink last night?
You gingerly slid your glasses onto your nose. It was almost 10:00 on Sunday morning, and all of the other details of the previous evening came slowly flooding back to you. Bradley had played the piano for you. Well, he had played for everyone at the Hard Deck, but in some way, you were certain it had been just for you. And he had been sweet enough to drive you and Maria home, even though you were kind of an ass to him.
You suddenly started laughing and had to grip your head to make the throbbing stop. Had you really taken Bradley's phone away from that girl? You did remember slapping him in the chest with it, too. Add that to the list of things you would never do sober.
You had handled the situation like you owned him. And he let you do it.  Bradley let you send those girls away without another look in their direction. His attention had firmly been on you. Just you.
A gentle tapping on your door sent your hungover head into a frenzy. "Yeah?" you croaked and a second later Maria's head poked inside. The smell of breakfast cooking made your stomach churn with hunger and something else unpleasant.
"Wow, you look terrible."
"I feel worse," you managed. "How much did I drink?"
"Well, I don't think it was necessarily the quantity so much as the tequila itself. Come on, I made you waffles. You'll feel better after you eat."
After you had two full waffles, some fruit and a lot of coffee in your stomach, you were able to converse like a human.
"Bradley drove us home, and I can barely even remember it. Was he nice to you? Was his car messy? Was he a good driver? Did he use turn signals?"
"Of course, no, pretty good, and yes. Also you'd probably like to know that he carried you inside from his car."
Your eyes went wide. "No!"
Maria nodded as she blew on her mug of coffee. "Yeah, he did. You fell asleep, and he insisted on letting you doze, so he scooped you up like a little baby and carried you to the couch."
"He carried me up three flights of stairs?"
An impressed look settled on Maria's face. "Yes, and let me tell you, your boy wasn't even slightly winded. He looked like he would have happily carried you to Texas if you had told him you wanted to eat BBQ for a midnight snack."
You groaned loudly, a combination of embarrassment over being carried by Bradley and sadness over not being able to remember it.
"Then after he left," Maria continued, "I managed to coax you into the bathroom to get you ready for bed. It was not easy to change you into pajamas or get you to take your contacts out while you fought with me, so you probably owe me lunch. Tequila makes you... difficult. And I've gotta ask, what are you going to do about your Rooster problem? Because if I saw things correctly from the bar, he ditched not one but two other girls as soon as you demanded his attention."
Indeed. What were you going to do about your Rooster problem?
-------------------------------------
The glimmer of hope that filled Bradley on Saturday night carried him all the way through Sunday. He ran almost seven miles before he noticed any fatigue, and then he lifted weights for an hour. He felt so good, he even went grocery shopping and stocked the small refrigerator in his barracks room.
You had staked your claim on him. At least it felt that way. You had said you were jealous, and you put your hands on him. And then you snuggled against him, and it had taken every ounce of his self control to keep his lips off your perfect neck. Because now he had a new problem; you had done all of that after you had been drinking.
Bradley needed to get you to talk to him, but he needed to make sure the timing was right. No alcohol, nobody else around, and no bullshit.
Monday did not prove to be the opportune time for that conversation. The entire day was truly a mess. Bradley had blown up at Maverick in front of an entire room of people, the flight training was a mess, and the team was not getting along. You were also nowhere to be found. Bradley must have looked to where Lieutenant Wilson and Lieutenant Harvey were sitting one time too many, because during a break, they had mercy on him and informed him that you were meeting with your superior officers.
"Do you know what it's about?" Bradley asked them.
"I'm assuming it has something to do with the mission. Y/N is the lead comms tech, so she usually gets updated information first," Cam Harvey said. "She's working really hard to make sure you're as safe as possible. We all are."
"Appreciated," Bradley replied with a nod. But by the time he was showered and leaving for the day, he still hadn't seen you. As he rode the elevator down alone, his phone buzzed with a message from Mav.
Beach day tomorrow. Meet by the seaside cliffs at 9 am. Dress for fun.
"What the fuck?" Bradley muttered, wondering what the message possibly had to do with the mission.
-----------------------------------
"I need you to implement this into the plan today. I don't know how many more weeks of training we have available before you all get hauled out to that carrier, so this needs to be perfect," Commander Bickel told you as you furiously entered code into the navigation simulation program for the F/A-18 Super Hornets. You had been holed up with him in his office all day. Every tiny bit of new information that was collected needed to be taken into consideration. The mission was too important to miss something and regret it later. Apparently the hillside slopes around the SAMs had initially been miscalculated, and you were currently updating them with satellite imaging.
The fact that Rooster could be there in person made you strive for perfection. Plus, you actually liked your boss. He was fair and friendly and you respected each other.
'Yes, sir. I'll take care of it."
You worked late into the evening before you were dismissed, but on the way out Bickel told you, "You've been invited to a beach day tomorrow, courtesy of Captain Mitchell. Harvey and Wilson, too."
"Sir?"
"Take the day off tomorrow and enjoy yourself."

When the Quinjet landed back at the Avengers’ Tower, Bucky was waiting for you in the landing bay. You'd only been gone for four days, but as soon as he saw you start down the gangplank, he ran to you, picking you up and spinning you in circles until you squealed.
"Buck! Put me down before I throw up on you!"
"Can't, Pocket," he said, though he did stop spinning you. "Missed you too much. Physically impossible to let you go."
Steve followed shortly behind you, rolling his eyes at his best friend's theatrics. "No love for your old war buddy, Barnes?"
Bucky laughed, finally putting you down to give Steve a brief, one-armed hug. "Glad you're back safe, too, Stevie," he said. "And thanks for bringing my Pocket home in one piece."
Steve pulled you close in a side hug, the earlier tension that had existed between the two of you having faded since you had a chance to clear the air. "You should be thanking her for bringing me home in one piece. The girl's deadly with plastic explosives."
You shoved him away from you playfully. "Please, Stevie," you teased. "If you just learned the first thing about computers, you could have done the whole mission on your own, you wouldn't even have needed me."
"Always gonna need you, Pocket," Steve said, ruffling your hair. "You're family." You gave each other stupid grins before he hefted his go-bag over his shoulder. "I'm gonna go grab a shower and get some sleep. I'll see you kids later." He walked off into the belly of the tower, leaving you and Bucky alone.
"Ugh, I can't wait to get out of this tac-suit," you moaned. "I always feel so filthy after a mission with explosives, you know?" Bucky gave you a curious look as he leaned down and grabbed your go-bag for you. "Such a gentleman," you smiled at him as you led the way back to your room.
You went straight into the bathroom and unzipped the top of your tac-suit, pulling it down over your arms until it was hanging from your waist. With a sigh of relief at being freed from the confines of the heavy poly-carbonate blended fabric, you washed your face and started brushing your teeth.
"So, how was the mission?" Bucky called from where he was sitting on your bed.
"Goo!" you managed to get out around a mouthful of toothpaste.
"Good, good." He paused. "So, um, it's not really my business or anything, but did something happen... between you and Steve? While you guys were gone? Like, did you guys, I dunno... sleep together?"
You nearly choked on your toothpaste and quickly spat it out in the sink before coming out of the bathroom.
"I'm sorry," you said, pointing your toothbrush at him accusingly. "Did you just ask me if I had sex with Steve Rogers?"
He wouldn't look at you. "Like I said, it's none of my business. It's just that, before you guys left, you were always kind of, I dunno, angry at him? And then you get off the plane and you're hugging and he's got his hands in your hair and you’re calling him ‘Stevie’. So, I was just wondering if something happened."
"And your brain immediately jumped to us sleeping together?" You asked him, incredulous. He looked up at you. "Seriously? We just talked. Lanced some bad blood that had been festering between us since Berlin, so we can work on being good again, be a family again." You noticed he was staring at you, mouth slightly opened. "What?" you asked him.
He motioned vaguely toward your chest, and you looked down to realize your tac-suit was still hanging half off of you and you were standing in front of him in just a purple push-up bra.
"Oh for fucks' sake, Barnes. They're just tits." You stalked over to your dresser and pulled out a t-shirt and slipped it over your head. "Better now?"
He shook his head as if a spell had been broken over him. "Uh, yeah. So, you didn't sleep with Steve," he reiterated.
"No, I did not. To begin with, he's family. There's a major ick factor. And second--, no. That's really it. The idea is super gross."
"Good," Bucky chuckled. "I love Steve like a brother, but I didn't love the idea of sharing you with him."
You started shimmying yourself out of the pants of your tac-suit and tossed it into your hamper. "Yes," you deadpanned, "because you know how much I love being compared to an object that can be owned and thus shared among friends. Not emotionally triggering for me at all."
Bucky had the decency to look chastised. "You know that's not what I meant."
"Relax, Barnes," you teased as you stepped into and pulled up a pair of shorts. "I'm just giving you shit." You ruffled his hair. "I may be emotionally scarred and have more baggage than the cargo hold on an airplane, but at least I can laugh about it."
Bucky rolled his eyes at you, but there was a smile on his lips. "You're something else, you know that?"
You grinned at him. "I'd like to think so. Makes your life so much more interesting, don't you think?"
Bucky nodded in agreement. "Definitely. You're never boring, that's for sure."
You chuckled and flopped down on your bed next to him. "So, what about you? Any juicy drama while I was gone?"
"Hmmm, let's see..." Bucky thought for a moment. "I'm pretty sure Nat and Banner were fucking in the lab the other day."
"No!" you gasped, sitting up.
"Yeah; I needed some calibration done on my arm, and since you weren't here, I went down to Bruce's lab to ask him to help, but the doors were locked. I was about to turn around and come back later, when the door opened up and Nat came rushing out, won’t acknowledge me or make eye contact, and I swear her shirt was on inside out. I get inside and Banner's actively tucking his shirt back into his pants."
You cackled at the mental image, kicking your legs in the air with delight. "Oh, that's amazing. Finally, those two crazy kids got together. I'll have to find some way to get Nat to give me all the dirty, dirty details."
"Ugh, if you do, please keep them to yourself," Bucky moaned. "Last thing I need is a mental picture of Banner's mini-Hulk."
"Hey now, I'm sure Bruce is perfectly proportionate," you teased. Then you got serious. "I gotta admit, I'm a bit jealous."
"You have a thing for Bruce?" Bucky asked, eyes wide with astonishment. "I would never have guessed he's your type."
"What?! No!" You playfully shoved him. "Same reason I'm jealous of Tony and Pepper, Wanda and Viz, Clint and Laura. You and your left hand, Sam and whoever he's dating this week. It just must be nice to be in a relationship, you know? To have someone to share that part of your life with."
Bucky cocked his eyebrow, but nodded, understanding your meaning and letting your joke about his left hand slide. "So, what's stopping you from going out and getting one for yourself, Pocket? You're smart, funny, gorgeous. You could date anyone you wanted."
You leaned back, making yourself comfortable against your pillows and heaved a heavy sigh. "Oh, you know, just the usual: Trauma, trust issues, fear of abandonment. All of that fun stuff." Bucky gave you a look, and you knew he wanted you to take the conversation seriously, for once.
"Finnne," you whined. "After I... Once I started out on my own, I was... Well, I did everything I could think of to try to reclaim sex for myself, you know? It wasn't healthy, it wasn't smart, but I was young and stupid and I didn't know what else to do. I can fuck someone without having a panic attack now, which, trust me, is a vast improvement from where I started, but making myself vulnerable for that emotional connection? To transcend something from just sex to a real relationship? I have no idea how to do that. It's like, I can open up one way, or the other; I can't do both. It's too much. If there’s even a hint of an emotional connection with a guy, I shut down. Close myself off. Like, it’s not worth the risk of getting hurt.”
"I understand," said Bucky, softly and simply, and you knew that he did. Your traumas were different, but the scars they had left on you were so similar. "I haven't been with a girl, physically, since 1944," he confided. "I don't know if I can trust anyone to be that open with, to share that part of me with. Not after everything that's been done to me. And I worry that I can't trust myself to let go, not without hurting someone."
You let out a long, low whistle. "That's gotta be some kinda celibacy record." You clapped your hand over your mouth. "You're a reborn virgin, James Buchanan Barnes!"
"Reached your quota for serious conversation, have you?" Bucky asked with a piqued eyebrow.
"You know it's not my strong suit," you conceded. "But seriously, man? 1944? Oof. Your balls must be black by now."
He gave you a look of disappointment, causing you to sigh.
"I know, I know," you said eventually. "You're trying to have a meaningful discussion with me and I'm being an immature ass, again. I'm sorry."
Bucky wrapped his arms around you and rested his chin on your shoulder. "You're not an ass, Pocket. You're just... I wish you could talk to me without feeling like you have to fall back onto your defense mechanisms, that's all. I want you to feel safe with me."
You turned your head to look at him. "Buck, I feel safer with you than anyone else on this entire fucking planet. You're my best friend and you know all of my deep, dark secrets. You know me better than anyone, but I’ve spent a lifetime building those defenses; they aren't all just going to fall down in a day, so that means an inappropriate joke or two is going to slip through every now and then.”
Bucky smiled at you and squeezed you a bit tighter. "I know, Pocket. And I adore you for it. But if you ever want to talk about anything serious, know that I'm here for you."
"I know," you said, leaning into him. "And thank you, for being so patient and understanding with me. I get that I can be... a lot."
"No, you're just enough," he said. "Never think otherwise."

It's Embarrassing (Eddie Munson x reader) (Part 2)
I woke up this morning with this in my head and have been trying to write it all day.
Everyone is in their 20s, Eddie and reader have been in a secret relationshipish for a few months. Angst.
Part 1 is here
***
“Hey, my car needs looking at please.”
It was you. Eddie was mad he hadn’t recognised your voice before he turned round. If he had, he wouldn't have turned around at all.
He wiped his hands on the towel on his shoulder and sighed to himself. “I'll get one of the guys to look at it.”
“Couldn't you look at it?”
“No.” he snapped quickly.
***
Eddie rapped his knuckles on the top of a car.
“What?” Paul, Eddie’s co-worker, spoke from underneath the car.
“There’s a girl who needs her car looking at.”
“Ok, well look at her car.”
He waited a second, sizing up his options. It was his job to fix cars but he really didn't want to speak to you. He cleared his throat, “Can you do it?”
“Munson, I'm a bit busy right now.” And Eddie knew he had no choice.
***
Eddie reappeared and moved towards your car.
“What's wrong with it?” He was going to look at it after all. Maybe there was a chance you could talk or maybe he just didn't have a choice.
“Erm, I don't know.”
“What? Is it making a weird noise? Does it smell bad?”
“I don't know.”
Eddie popped the hood and rummaged around. You just watched, all words catching in your throat.
“Did you drive here?” he huffed.
“Yeah.”
He stood tall and started walking away from you. Was that it?
“That's gonna be 100 dollars.”
“100 dollars?!” What did he mean 100 dollars?
“Yeah, its a really hard job.”
“What do you mean 100 dollars?” you followed him through the doors of the garage.
“Loads of hours work. Your car is totally fucked.”
You stopped and spluttered, “I think it might only be a spark plug.”
Eddie stopped in his tracks and turned to you, clearly annoyed.
“Yeah, where’s the old one?”
He threw his dirty towel over his shoulder and took a few angry steps towards you. His voice dropped really quiet. “A car doesn’t drive with a spark plug missing, so what did you do with it?”
You take a step back and shook your head feigning ignorance but Eddie reaches forward into the front pocket of your jeans and pulled out what he was looking for. He held the spark plug up to your face.
“You shouldn't have done that.” He checked the spark plug for damage and replaced it, slamming the hood down again.
You ran after him as he walked away. “You’ve been ignoring me.” You blurted out.
“You could’ve hurt yourself.”
“I asked Wayne to tell you to call me but you didn’t.”
“I thought I embarrass you, don’t I?”
“I never said that.”
“And you had a ‘reputation’.”
“I’m sorry. Robin wouldn’t leave me alone about that hickey and I didn't know what to say. I didn't know what we were. I thought...I don't know I just panicked.”
“Well you can panic with somebody else.”
“I’m not embarrassed by you. It wasn't you. I just-“
Eddie just looked at you. Eyes almost tearing up, mirroring yours. Maybe you should just be honest.
“Look, you’re hot and open with me and I don't know what to do or how to tell people and maybe I was a bit uncomfortable with other people thinking about me like that. And we hadn't really gone on any dates or anything and I was maybe a little bit worried that you only wanted to sleep with me. I’m sorry.”
He continued saying nothing.
“I shouldn’t have come. I'm sorry. I’ll pay you for the fixing my car.”
“Don’t.”
“Eddie, I wasted your time, I’ll give you somethi-“
“Go out with me.”
The words, once again, stuck in your throat and wouldn't escape. Did you even hear him right?
“Go on a date with me and we'll call it even.”
You heard him right. “Just one date?” You felt a bit disappointed.
“Well yeah, then hopefully some more after that. If you're not embarrassed by me?”
His arms wrapped around you as you flung yourself at him, your arms wrapping around his neck and your legs bending up behind you.
He put you down and kissed the end of your nose. “Now go away, I’m working. I’ll pick you up later.”
You laughed at his stupid smile and jumped back in your car, to get ready for tonight and to tell your friends. Ready to prove to him how not embarrassed of Eddie Munson you were.

Chapter 2 // Chapter 4
☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾
“I did it! I beat Ganon! Did you see, Jimin ?”
Jungkook put down his controller next to him on the couch, raising his arms with a big smile. Beside him, Jimin didn't seem to pay attention to him. His eyes focused on his cell phone.
Jungkook frowned, and turned to Taehyung, sitting on his right.
"Taehyung, Taehyung! Look!!!"
But he noticed that Taehyung also seemed lost in thought and was not paying any attention to him.
Jungkook puffed out his cheeks, a pout on his face.
"Hyungs! What's going on?”
“Do you know where Yoongi is? "
Taehyung's question surprised Jungkook. He arched an eyebrow and thought for a few seconds.
He knew that Namjoon and Hoseok had gone to the public library for some research, but he couldn't remember which. Jin had gone to the grocery store.
And Yoongi... well, he didn't remember seeing him or even remembering him leaving the apartment.
"He's been missing for a while, he doesn't answer when I try to call him..." Jimin sighed as he threw his phone down next to him.
They remained silent for a few seconds, while the game on the television continued to play its cinematic.
Jungkook turned his head and noticed that the window was slightly open. He pointed at it with his chin to his partners.
The three demons then glanced at each other. They figured it out. They knew where Yoongi had gone.
"You think he went..." began Jungkook.
"I wouldn't even be surprised, he was very quiet yesterday after Namjoon’s explanations." Jimin continued.
And they all knew that at those times, it meant that Yoongi had something on his mind. And when he did, he became the most stubborn person alive. Nothing and no one could make him change his mind.
"That guy... Ah, when he gets home, he'll hear me." Taehyung sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
Jungkook jumped to his feet.
"Are you going to wait quietly for him to come back?" He asked, crossing his arms before straightening up from the couch. "Because I'm not. We've been waiting for this moment for way too long."
°°°
Yoongi was… well she couldn’t describe him. His voice was sweet, his little vibrato always made her body shiver a little. Besides, he was so kind, so gentle, she had never seen so much tenderness in a gaze that was destined to her.
Well, of course, there was Jin. But that was so, so long ago.
She bit her lower lip nervously. Thinking about him made her heart ache. She was close to him like she never was since the two of them were separated, yet so far at the same time. She still hadn't thought about how she would manage it. She'd never figured out how to get his memory back, and she’d never found him at all to try anything though.
At first, she had planned to spend the afternoon with her books, researching curses, spells, or some kind of memory-related magic. She wanted to have some sort of plan before she tried any approach with her soulmates.
But it seems that one of them decided otherwise.
Yoongi never took his eyes off her. She seemed to be lost in her thoughts for some reason, probably his visit disturbed her.
He couldn't read her mind, she was probably powerful enough to block her mind to telepaths, as he and his demon boyfriends were. His admiration for her only grew stronger and stronger.
He wanted to know what was happening in her head, what seemed to be troubling her.
From the moment he saw her through her shop window in his cat form, busy watering her plants when he saw the lines on her face when he realized he was standing in front of his last soulmate, the world stopped in front of him for a moment.
Just as he felt when he met Namjoon, Jin, Hoseok, Jungkook, Jimin, and Taehyung. That feeling of being face to face with someone he'd known all his life, even though he'd never spoken to them, someone who completed him, who finally made him feel whole and fulfilled.
A soul mate, pure and simple.
She felt the same way. Like the day before with Namjoon, and when she was with Jin before they separated. However, she wasn't used to experiencing... so many positive feelings and emotions like that.
She'd also thought that Namjoon would never talk about her or want to see her again.
Apparently, she was wrong.
She fidgeted nervously with her fingers, keeping a certain distance between them. She wanted to ask Yoongi where the others lived, to meet them, and finally see Jin again after all these years.
But the problem was that Jin didn't remember her. And when Namjoon, Yoongi, and the others hear about what happened, they probably wouldn't want anything more to do with her. And that was what she was afraid of.
The pain of losing a soul mate is a sharp pain, like having her heart ripped out, without any anesthetic, raw.
She met people who had been rejected by their soulmates, or who had experienced the death of their soulmates. They were a shadow of their former selves, and remained so for the rest of their lives, until their last breath. Most of the time, they ended up taking their own lives, the latter being a gentler and more bearable solution than living without one or both halves.
She'd been through it once, with Seokjin. If she hadn't been immortal, she wouldn't have survived it.
"I don't know what's been going through your head, or what you've been going through all these years alone," Yoongi began, taking a step towards her, "but it's all over now. I mean, you're not alone anymore, not now that we've found you. You should have seen Namjoon when he came home yesterday, I haven't seen him this excited since we met Jungkook decades ago." He let out a chuckle.
She looked up at him, he was close to her, very close.
If he knew, he wouldn't say that. Even though she couldn't deny that those words warmed her whole being without really controlling it. So, Namjoon was happy to meet her? Were they all?
"You really thought Namjoon wouldn't tell us about you and we wouldn't want you?" He asked, tilting his head to one side.
"Honestly, yes." she admitted with a shrug, smiling shyly, "I'm... old, very old, I spent several centuries alone, never finding my soulmates so... I always told myself that they weren't looking for me, or simply didn't want me."
And the only one I ever knew, I lost him, she thought.
"Oh, sweetheart," he murmured, his deep, soft voice making her shiver, "I'm sorry it took me so long to find you, we all are, believe me."
He raised his hand, without hesitation, to place it gently on her cheek. Normally, she wasn’t the most comfortable with physical touch, but strangely, she hadn't flinched, she hadn't moved. The warmth of Yoongi's hand against her skin felt good and soothing in a way she couldn't describe a comfort she hadn't felt... for ages.
She surprised herself leaning slightly against it, even closing her eyes when he started to rub softly her cheek with his thumb.
She opened her lips to reply but heard something behind Yoongi that made her take a step back. She heard the bell of her shop signifying that someone was entering.
"I knew it!" she heard a deep voice approach them, "I knew you wouldn't listen to Namjoon hyung!"
She tilted her head as Yoongi turned his, not disturbed by the interruption. She was surprised to find herself facing three new people. She didn't need to ask who they were, nor she didn't need to ask Yoongi who these three beautiful and handsome men standing in front of her were.
When her eyes met those of the smallest of the three, while the other two were talking to Yoongi, she didn't even know about what because she wasn't paying any attention. Her gaze was completely absorbed by this pink-haired person standing a few meters away from her. She was feeling for the second time today what she had felt earlier with Yoongi.
These three people were part of their bond. They were their soulmates too.
One of the other two noticed the smaller boy's attitude and turned toward him.
"Jimin, are you..." he began, turning his head to follow his gaze, "Okay..."
His voice trailed off when he saw her.
She didn't know what to say or do, she could feel four pairs of eyes on her now.
She noticed a smile tugging at the corner of Yoongi's lips and she bites her own nervously.
He knew that the maknaes would notice his absence, and would quickly realize where he was and, most importantly, that they would come to her.
"Are you..." the smaller one, Jimin, whispered in a trembling voice, taking a step towards her.
"Yes... Yes, I am." she replied, looking away, "It's a pleasure to meet y-ah...!"
She hadn't had time to finish her sentence when she felt a pair of arms around her waist and a body pressing against hers. She looked down, surprised to see a pink ball, slightly trembling.
"We've been waiting for you for so long..." he murmured shakily.
She felt her head spin slightly under all these new sensations, not so new, but ones she hadn't felt for ages. It was as if she was rediscovering them.
She didn't know how to react and didn't have time to think about it when she felt two new pairs of arms around her waist.
"Jimin, don't monopolize her yet!" a young man with blue hair sulked, "Ah, I can't tell you how happy I am to finally meet you... Can I call you Noona?"
She didn't know what to say and didn't have time to think about it either.
"Noona," the tallest of the three murmured as he hugged her a little tighter, "I can't believe I can finally hold you... You’re real...!"
She was surprised to see Jimin sobbing quietly in her arms. She looked up, utterly confused, and searched for Yoongi, who was standing not far from her, his hand resting on Jimin's back, stroking him affectionately as he looked at her. He gave her a gentle smile and shrugged.
"They are our maknaes, Jimin," he pointed to the pink-haired one, "Taehyung," he pointed to the blue-haired one, "and Jugkook, the youngest." He finished by pointing to the last one, who was looking at her with shining eyes.
“Noona, you’re so gorgeous,” Jungkook said, making her blush furiously.
“Kook’… you're making her uncomfortable," Yoongi grumbled as he brought his hand up to stroke Jimin's hair.
"I'm not... thank you..." she smiled as she saw Jungkook's face light up, then looked down at Jimin, "Is he all right?" she asked, worried to see him in such a state.
"Don't worry about him," Taehyung caught her eye and gave her a big smile, "he's very sensitive and just happy to finally find you."
"And we've been waiting for you... "Jungkook continued before letting out a shy little laugh, "Ah, you must have heard it lots of times since yesterday but... It's true... we've been looking for you for years, without success..."
"We've all always had that hole in our hearts..." Jimin spoke again, raising his head, his eyes bright and slightly red, "It was painful sometimes when all that was missing for us was you, I don't even want to imagine how you must have felt without any of us..."
She didn't even notice that tears had started to fall as they spoke. She wasn't the kind of person who cried easily, far from it. But in less than two days, this was already the second time it had happened.
She didn't know why she was so moved by their words, perhaps because they were the people she'd been looking for all her long life, never finding, thinking they didn't want her, which turned out to be wrong.
She could feel the deep empathy in their words because they'd been through the same thing as her - less so because they were all together - she felt understood by the people who were meant for her, and that feeling was indescribable.
Noticing her tears, the three maknaes backed away slightly but stayed close to her.
"Noona I... we're sorry if we said something hurtful..." murmured Jimin nervously.
"No, I'm the one who's sorry," she replied, shaking her head, "I'm just... I don't know, it all seems so unrealistic..."
And it still was. Knowing that she found her soulmates, that Jin was only a few miles away... After all those years of loneliness, of feeling guilty, of secretly envying the people who crossed her path, happy with their soul mates...
She thought back to Minji's words, yesterday’s evening in their apartment...
« You deserve it more than anyone else. You spent your whole life helping anyone who asks for help, sacrificing your life more than once - literally - for the helping and saving. You deserve to be happy, with those who are destined for you. »
The thought of those words made her tears double. Because after all these years, centuries even, in darkness, the light was finally coming to her, the hope of a more bearable and less lonely eternity was growing inside her.
“Hey, sweetheart, please don’t cry,” Yoongi’s sweet voice brought her out of her thoughts, “You’re prettier when you smile.”
She blinked several times and looked at each of the people around her.
There they were, her soul mates.
“Ah, I think Namjoon hyung and Hoseok hyung are back home," suddenly muttered Taehyung, who had his phone in his hand, "They want to know where we are..."
"I think we're in a bit of a mess..." chuckled Jungkook, resting his cheek against her shoulder. "Oh, you don't know Hobi hyung yet!"
"Same for Jin, I think we're going to have a bad time when we get home... they're going to be even more jealous!" added Jimin with a small smile.
Her eyes had widened when he'd mentioned Jin's name. He was with them. There was no doubt about it now. The confirmation twisted her stomach slightly with anticipation and excitement.
Jin was alive. He was in the same town as her after... over five hundred years apart. She didn't know how to deal with it all, again, it all seemed so unrealistic. She felt like she was in a dream, that she'd wake up sooner or later, and that everything she was experiencing now was an illusion.
If this was indeed a dream, she hoped she'd never wake up.
"I have an idea! Why don't you come with us?"
She lowered her head at Jimin's question. This was something she hadn't expected.
"So you can meet them too and see Namjoon again! Good idea, Minnie!" Taehyung came and hugged his partner, kissing his cheek affectionately.
Jimin giggled in Taehyung's arms, making her smile. But the idea of finding herself in the same room as not just one, but all her soul mates. Seeing Jin again, without the certainty that he'd regained his memory... If they found out the truth, what had happened, she'd lose them for sure.
Selfishly, she didn't want that to happen. She wanted to see Jin again, of course. It was all she could think about, constantly, ever since they both split up. But the risk was too big now. She wanted to come to him with a plan, a way of getting his memory back if he hadn't. She owed him that.
"I know we're all more than happy to find her finally," Yoongi began, "but our beautiful soulmate can't just walk away from her business, can she?"
"But Yoongi hyung... I don't want to leave her..." pouted Jungkook, rubbing his cheek against her shoulder.
"I know Kookie, me neither," Yoongi sighed softly, understanding with Jungkook because he too didn't want to part with her, "but I think she needs some time to herself, to get over her emotions, am I right?"
He looked at her, his lips stretching slightly into a thin smile. She could see in his eyes that he wasn't reproaching her and that he was also prepared to stay if she asked him to. Every one of them was ready to go and get the moon for her if she asked them to.
"I understand... it must have been a lot of emotions for you..." Taehyung sighed sadly as he pulled away from Jimin, "So can we give you our phone number? And we'll give you our address too!"
"Good idea!" Jimin exclaimed and snapped his fingers to summon a piece of paper and a pen, " So you can come and see us whenever you like! Usually, there's always someone at home, but if there isn't, we'll give you the code, and you can just make yourself at home and wait for us!"
"Deal," she replied as Jimin wrote their numbers and addresses on the sheet of paper, "and you, feel free to come here, whenever you like, my apartment's upstairs, but I suppose you already know that..."
"What was I saying, she's extremely intelligent, our soulmate, as well as being beautiful," Yoongi smirked, making her blush.
"Aaah, I don't want to leave you, Noona..." Jungkook whined, grabbing her arm, "You smell so good too..."
YoShe u held back a smile, feeling a slight pinch in her heart.
She didn't want them to leave either.
°°°
“You did what ?!”
Sitting on the sofa, Yoongi chuckled as the three maknae shrugged their shoulders at Hoseok, Seokjin, and Namjoon. Namjoon had his arms crossed against his chest, his eyebrows furrowed, while his two companions beside him looked desperate but amused at the same time.
"You're incapable of listening to a tiny indication, are you..." Namjoon blurted out accusingly, "I hope you haven't scared her..."
"Knowing these three," began Hoseok, addressing the maknae, "they would have been able to jump on her..."
Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook glanced at each other. Without needing to reply, Jin's eyes widened.
"You jumped on her..." It wasn't a question, but a statement.
"I... I wouldn't go to the extreme of using the word jump Jin hyung..." defended Jungkook with a pout, "and then... it was Jimin who clung to her first and cried like a baby !"
The said Jimin turned to his boyfriend, outraged and betrayed.
"At least I didn't make her feel uncomfortable by showering her with compliments! "Oh noona, you're so beautiful, you're so intelligent noona!" cried Jimin, pointing his finger at Jungkook, who was frowning, and Yoongi, who wasn't paying any attention to the conversation.
Hoseok and Jin couldn't help laughing as they watched their younger partners bickering, while Namjoon rolled his eyes and ran a hand through his hair. He should have known that his partners wouldn't listen to him and would go and find her the second his back was turned. He wasn't that angry with them, he understood them. From the second they'd said goodbye the day before, all he could think about was seeing her again. Yoongi was the most stubborn and obstinate of them all, and if the maknaes were by nature very impatient, he was even more so.
He couldn't blame them, she was their soul mate just as she was his. And even if a reason they didn't know existed had darkened her heart and saddened her soul, she could not want to have something to do with them. She just couldn't.
His four companions had only listened to their hearts.
"Did it at least go well?" finally asked Hoseok, who had settled on the floor, facing the maknaes, "how is she?"
"She's incredible hyung!" exclaimed Taehyung, "She's beautiful and her voice is so sweet..."
"Aaah, I miss her," Jimin added as he dropped onto Taehyung, "we shouldn't have left..."
Hoseok chuckled and turned to Jin.
"That means we're the last ones who didn't meet her, ah, that's not fair... Jin, are you all right?"
They all turned to the older man who had sat on the edge of the large sofa. He was staring into space, his face disfigured by pain.
Yoongi was the first to react and got up to approach his elder.
"Hyung, is it the same as yesterday?"
Jin took his head in his hands, nodding. He didn't understand why these violent migraines were suddenly coming to him, and more importantly, why he was now having these flashes and memories that weren't his own.
Or were they? He had no memory of living in a human village with a hill and a big oak tree. And who was this person he was with? He couldn't see their face correctly, it was blurred, like everything that had happened since yesterday.
"What's wrong with him, Yoongi?" asked Namjoon, concerned.
"He's never been like this..." Jungkook sat down next to him, also worried.
Yoongi told them about yesterday's episode in the kitchen, which made Jin wince, not wanting to bother them with it.
"It's nothing," Jin muttered after a few seconds massaging his temples, "It's just tiredness I guess."
He wouldn't talk about the memories flooding his mind. He didn't want to worry them anymore. He'd look for the answers himself.
"Hyung you've been very tired before, you've never had this kind of response..." replied Jimin who had gone into the kitchen to get him a glass of water.
"He's right, maybe it's a problem with your powers? Or... argh, I don't know." Taehyung grumbled in frustration.
"It'll be fine," Jin reassured him with a small smile, "I'll get some rest, and everything will be better tomorrow. But I will remember that you met our soulmate and Hobi and I are the only ones who don't know her."
He chuckled when he saw the innocent looks on the maknae’s faces and ruffled Yoongi's hair to reassure him.
"If it happens again, you won't be able to escape," Yoongi replied simply, rising to his feet.
He said nothing, but when his gaze met Namjoon's, the two demons understood each other. Jin's condition coincided strangely with the meeting of their last soulmate.
Pure coïncidence? Or was there a link between her and Jin's condition?
°°°
Every day there was an outdoor market in Seoul. She used to go there regularly to find various types of plants for her potions, spells, and other magical preparations. But also, fruit and vegetables for her personal use.
This time, Handong has decided to come with her. She closed her shop for the morning and set off in the early hours.
She looked up at the sky and spotted the moon, gradually disappearing to make way for the sun. The full moon was for tonight.
She knew that the moon was a very powerful force for witches. It was also that moment when she recharged her crystals and prepared her moon water for the month.
But above all, the full moon influenced her powers. It was the best time to cast powerful spells and make sure they worked. It was therefore the perfect opportunity to find any spell that would help Jin recover his memory.
The day before, after Yoongi, Jungkook, Taehyung, and Jimin had left, and after spending a good hour recovering from her emotions, she went back to combing through every magic book and grimoire she owned, whether in the bookshop or her personal library.
She hadn't found anything very conclusive. All the chapters on memory magic had one thing in common: the spells, their effects, and their duration always depended on who was casting them and who was being affected by them.
The spell cast on Jin could have disappeared, just as it could still be present. She could only know this by seeing him and talking to him. But even that was a tricky thing to do.
"Is everything all right, sweetie?" Handong asked in a soft voice, after noticing that she’d been quiet for a while now.
"Hm?" she turned her head towards her, before smiling and nodding, "Yes, of course! sorry I... I was thinking about my research last night."
"Don't apologize," Handong smiled at her, "It's perfectly understandable. Don't hesitate if you need advice, I'm not a specialist, but I'll gladly give you my opinion."
She nodded again and explained what she’d found. Her different ideas, but they all came down to a single point. She had to see Jin to find out about his condition and memory. And that was where she was stuck.
During her explanations and conversation, she had arrived at the market, and without stopping to talk, she looked at the different stalls, buying some fruit and vegetables from old ladies.
In the distance, she notices a stall selling papaya. She hadn't seen or eaten papaya for a long time. It was also Jin's favorite fruit.
Handong was busy with a merchant, so she waved back and headed towards the stall. She greeted the old woman manning the stall and looked carefully at the fruit on display.
As she reached out to take one, she saw an arm in her field of vision landing on the same papaya as her. Surprised, she turned her head mechanically to see who it was, before freezing, her eyes wide.
No, it couldn't be true.
She had to be hallucinating, it couldn't... be him.
And yet she could recognize that face, those features above all others.
Jin.
Kim Seokjin was standing in front of her.
°°°
"By the way hyung, why were you and Joonie at the library yesterday?"
Jimin was currently sitting on a stool, watching Hoseok who was busy preparing lunch while Jin was away.
"Namjoon wanted to research our soulmate," he explained as he chopped some onions, "At first I didn't understand why honestly, but you know, over time, you and I know very well that Namjoon's instincts are never wrong."
"Does that mean you've found something?" exclaimed Jimin, suddenly straightening up.
Hoseok nodded, now working on dicing the vegetables. What they had found in the library... he could still hardly believe it.
Should he tell Jimin? Or should he wait until they are all together to share the results of their research?
He didn't have time to think about it any longer. He heard a loud knock, startling Jimin. It wasn't long before Yoongi and Jungkook emerged from their room, also startled.
"What's going on here?" Asked the older one, "I don't suppose we were expecting company?"
"Maybe it's Jin who's back and his arms are too full to open the door!" Jungkook added, tilting his head to one side. I'll get the door!"
He trotted to the door, dressed in a long sweatshirt belonging to Namjoon, who was still asleep in the room, just like Taehyung.
He opened the door with a big smile on his face.
"Hi! What took you so long Jin hyun..."
He didn't finish his sentence. His voice faded as he saw what was standing in front of him. At his silence, Yoongi and Jimin joined him, themselves freezing in front of what was in front of them.
Y/n was standing in front of them, totally panicked, out of breath, and sweating.
But she wasn’t alone.
"Help me... please..." she begged, her voice breaking. They could see she was holding back tears.
She was supporting Jin, his arm wrapped around her shoulders. A completely unconscious Jin.

Hi, I’m not sure if you’re requests are open so feel free to ignore this but if not, can you do a Jamie request where he and the reader are heavily in the “between friends and lovers” phase and Jamie ditches hanging out with the boys to spend the night with her when she turns down their invite cause she’s burnt out from work?
I'm in a writing mood so I'm going through so old requests in my inbox
Jamie sat in their booth, tracing a smiley face in the condensation that was growing on his beer. It was a Saturday night and he and the boys had gone out. He'd texted you to come with him when they'd left almost 30 minutes ago but he still hadn't heard back from you.
You and him were... close. He wasn't quite sure where he stood with you actually. He wasn't sure friends got drunk and made out on the couch but he didn't think girlfriends left in a hurry the next morning.
He didn't want you to leave. When he woke up, reaching out for your warm body, only to find himself alone, he'd been so disappointed. And the next time he'd seen you, you pretended it didn't happen. But all Jamie could think about was how you felt wrapped in his arms, lips feverishly moving against each other.
His phone buzzed and he grabbed for it a bit too quickly.
y/n <3: sorry, cant come out
jamie:everything alright?
y/n<3: yeah just tired, have fun
Jamie stared at your response, pursing his lips as he tapped the table anxiously.
"Jamie, if you shake your leg any fast, you're gonna cause and earthquake," Colin chuckled as he and Isaac slid back in across the booth.
Jamie didn't even realize he'd been shaking his leg. "Whoops, sorry mate." He glanced down at his phone again and made a decision. "Look, sorry guys, I think I've gotta go."
"What? You're ditching us?" Isaac barked in outrage. "We just got out here."
"Sorry, I owe you one," Jamie downed his beer and threw down some quid. "Next rounds on me."
And he was out the door.
...
You were laying on your couch, a heating pad on your stomach and an ice pack on your head. You had a movie on in the background but really you were just enjoying not standing on your feet. It had been a week. A long week. And most of all, you missed Jamie.
When you were especially busy at work you didn't get to see him a lot. But part of it was you avoiding him. You didn't want to be there the next morning when he sobered up and realized the mistake he'd made by kissing you. Then making out with you.
There was a knock at the door and you groaned, not moving from your spot. Whoever it was, they would have to come back another time. But after a moment, the knocking returned. You huffed and got up out of your very comfortable position to go open the door. Surprisingly, it was:
"Jamie?" you questioned, flipping on the porch light. "What are you doing here?"
He shrugged and pulled out a bottle of prosecco. "Thought you could use a drink."
You stared at the alcohol in his hand. This couldn't be happening again. Was he trying to get you drunk so you'd be stupid enough to kiss him again?
"Jamie..." You bit your lip. "I'm not sure that's a good idea."
As if he read your mind, his eyes widened. "Oh, shit. Fuck, no. That's not what I meant- we don't need to- fuck, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to pavlov you."
"Pavlov me? What are you on about?" You scoffed, quirking an eyebrow.
"Keeley told me about Pavlov and the dog and whatever," he explained. "And I just brought you this cause I know you can't stand champagne and we don't even have to drink, I just wanted to-fuck I'm sorry."
You giggled at his flustered behavior. "It's okay, why don't you come inside."
You brought him inside and put the prosecco in the refrigerator, far from reach.
"Now, tell me, Jamie, why are you here?" you asked as you flopped down on the couch next to him.
He shrugged, pulling a pillow into his lap. "I wanted to make sure you were okay, is all. Missed you this week."
You felt your heart flutter. "I missed you, too."
He looked up at you. Somewhat surprised by your admission.
"I thought... I mean I hoped that after last week..."
"Jamie, let me stop you there," You cut him off. "You don't need to try and spare my feelings. I fucked up."
"You... fucked up?"
"Yeah. When I get drunk I get emotional and I let my stupid feelings get the better of me," you frowned, shaking your head. "But I care more about our friendship. So let's just pretend it never happened."
Now it was Jamie's turn to frown. "Your feelings?"
"Yeah, I know, I'm sorry," you averted your eyes from him. "It's stupid, I'll get over them. But let's lay off the prosecco until then ye-"
He grabbed your chin between his fingers and gently pulled you so you were forced to look at him. Your eyes widened, when did he get so close?
"(Y/N), do you like me?" His voice was low and husky.
Your eyes were so big as they looked back and forth between Jamie's grey ones. "Yes."
"Can I kiss you?"
What? He was fully sober asking if he could kiss me. But his grip on my chin was firm, yet gentle as he rubbed his thumb back and forth. You just nodded. He pulled you the rest of the way into him as he kissed you.
The last time you'd kissed, you'd both been bubbly and drunk. The kiss was sloppy and heated but this kiss... this kiss was slow and sweet. He took his time, moving his hand to cup your head in his hand, his fingers tangling in your hair. He moved his mouth slowly, each kiss lasting a moment longer than the last until he finally pulled back just a bit.
His eyes opened, meeting yours. You were breathless, longing for more. He kissed you one more time, shorter, like he was making sure he'd memorized the way your lips felt. When he pulled away, his eyes were still closed, a lazy smirk appearing on his face.
"That was..." you started.
"Good, really good," he finished, his eyes finally opening. "I mean, was it good for you?"
"Yes," you answered, a second too quickly. "Let's do it again."
He chuckled, pulling you into his lap. "Oh, we will be doing a lot of that from now on."

hey!!! I just wanted to say I really love your work, and this is my first time asking for a request so sorry if it’s not very specific or doesn’t make sense 😭💕
I was wondering if you could do a john price x fem!reader where Laswell and price are at base and Laswell’s wife and prices wife (reader) are hanging out because it’s what they usually do when their partners are deployed. Laswell’s wife and reader are just sending them some cutesy vlogs or photos of what they’re doing, maybe of them like curled up watching like movies or maybe like little videos to them and Price and Laswell are watching the videos together and js like FLUFFY AND CUTEE
Anyways no worries if that’s not something you’re comfortable doing, again just wanted to say I really love your work, and feel free to change anything 💕
Anon??!! I'm so honoured that you'd send your first ever request to lil old me! Laswell is my favourite tired lesbian and I want to have her babies
Tumblr media
"I wonder how they're getting on." Snaps you from your Legally Blonde induced reverie, the soft drawl of Madeline Laswell, your long time best friend, breaking the torpor under which you'd both been settled all morning.
The two of you have been curled on your fluffy couch since this morning, only having moved to retrieve your takeaway orders from the doorstep or acquire more snacks to fuel your ongoing movie marathon. You'd successfully managed to scare Maddie out of her mind this morning, calling in the early hours of the morning, voice thick with tears as you babbled incoherently about John. Of course, her first thought, still delirious and half-asleep, was that her best friend had just been left a widow. This, however, she'd proven wrong, ringing Kate's emergency line in the hopes of confirming the status of your husband for your peace of mind.
Maddie, having calmed your panic (one that she knows all too well), turned up on your doorstep not even an hour later, a bar of chocolate the size of her head in one hand, and a supermarket bag stuffed with all of your favourite crisps and dips in the other. A bottle of wine and three romcoms in, your earlier crisis is all but gone.
"I miss them." You hum absently back, voice a little muffled around the handful of your favourite fizzy sweets you'd just shoved into your mouth. "Does John have a work number?" Maddie probes, not looking up from where she currently paints her fingernails a pretty, pearlescent shade of blue. "Yeah. I try not to text him on it unless there's an emergency though. Or if he says he has time to talk." "Kate has one too. You think they're busy?" "I mean - she called you back this morning, no? They only ever call or text when they're inactive."
The look on Maddie's face is one you know all too well. You've seen it countless times over the years you've been friends, and it always spells disaster. Before you know it, she's got her phone in hand, camera open and pointed at where the two of you are piled together amongst chocolate wrappers and blankets.
"Hey, Katie! and John - you guys should watch this together." She chats brightly to the camera in that wonderfully animated chirp of hers. "We're just here watching romcoms because someone" You laugh softly, blushing as she pans the camera to where you sit drowning in one of John's old hoodies. "- was getting all up in her own head panicking. Don't worry John, I'm looking after her."
Kate's phone pings as she and John sit around a table in a dingy bar in some cold, far off city. Of course, she can't tell either you, or her own wife, that they're coming home tomorrow - just incase the signal gets intercepted. It won't, but she can't try her luck and risk leaving two of her favourite women without their partners.
"It's Maddie." She muses, one dirty blonde eyebrow raised in confusion as she swipes open the video attachment her wife had sent. John looks up at her over the condensed rim of his beer bottle, his own eyebrows furrowing.
"The girls are together." Kate continues, relief painting her tone as she places her phone on the table between them, allowing John to see the grainy video too. "- because someone was getting all up in her own head panicking. Don't worry John, I'm looking after her." Price chuffs at Maddie's words, but the way his eyes soften when he sees your blushing pink face, the way his hoodie drapes over you, is almost impossible to miss. "Anyways! We'll see you soon! Be safe - we love you!"

The trailer park was quiet except for the murmurs and soft noises that the residents made whilst partaking in their nighttime routines.
The soft ambiance provided comforting background noise as you made your way over to Eddie’s trailer, you were excited to see what movie he had picked from the Family Video tonight.
Eddie and you had made it a tradition to go over to each other’s houses and watch a shitty horror movie while eating pizza to critique said shitty movie.
This week it was Eddie’s turn to host.
You first met Eddie when you were eight. You had gotten home from school for the day, your mom inside fixing up dinner whilst you played with your jump rope outside. You remember the sun burning down on you but that didn’t deter you from continuing your time for outside playtime.  You had been on your twentieth jump with your pink jump rope when a truck pulled up to the trailer beside yours. Your curious eight-year-old self’s attention diverted to the mysterious boy hopping out of the pickup truck. His denim overalls were loose on him, a strap was unbuttoned showcasing his white ribbed shirt underneath. His gaze met yours, and before you could look away, he offered you a crooked smile, wanna see a trick? You quickly nodded and watched him dash over toward you, his hand had retreated into his pocket and pulled out a deck of cards.
Later at dinner, your mom mentioned how the new boy, Eddie, had moved in with his uncle and was going to be your new neighbor. “He’s a little older, but why don’t you play with him after school, honey?”
Funny to think years later that some silly card trick is what caused you two to be inseparable.
The door swings open before you even make it up the short steps. “You know I've told you multiple times you can just walk in, right? I never lock the door.”
Your eyes skim over Eddie’s bare arm that was extended, your eyes glance over his recent addition of tattoos that peeked from his sleeves. “Yeah, and I've told you multiple times that that is a safety problem.” You waved a finger in front of Eddie as he swatted it away with a scoff.
The familiar home of Eddie and Wayne’s trailer met your eyes as you slipped your shoes off; Wayne’s copious mugs displayed on the walls always grabbed your attention when you walked into the trailer. They offered a sense of home that you loved so much.
Eddie had gone to his room to fetch the VHS of his movie pick while you busied yourself with grabbing the pizza menu and walking over to the phone to place the order.
“What do you want, just pepperoni? Or do you want something else - and don't you dare say pineapple.” You call over to him while leaning on the table holding the phone in your hand.
Eddie’s curly hair appears in the hall as he makes his way toward you, exaggeratedly sighing “Fine, just pepperoni.”
He saunters off to the TV before shouting back, requesting garlic bread while fiddling with the VHS.
You quickly order the food and walk over to the couch where Eddie was sitting waiting for you so he could play the movie.
“What monstrosity have you picked for us today, Munson?”
♡‧₊˚
The sound of students chattering with each other filled your ears as you were rummaging through your locker.
Your usual attendance of watching the guys play during their band practice was missed Saturday due to your mom requiring you to run errands all weekend so you haven't seen Eddie since Friday.
Meaning you left Eddie to his own devices for far too long and you're about to unknowingly pay the price.
“Jesus Christ!”
Speak of the devil.
The sound of your locker closing was muffled by the loud shriek that came out of your mouth.
“Eddie, how many times have I told you not to scare me like that?” You sputter out quickly whilst holding a hand up to your chest.
Eddie offers you a sheepish smile, “Sorry, princess, I was just too excited to see you.”
Your heart flutters slightly at the statement.
The whole “falling for your best friend trope” was a dumb cliche. In the early years of your friendship with Eddie, your mom would make offhand comments about how “oh you two are so cute together” and “you are both so going to fall in love with each other, just watch.” Your kid self always scrunched your nose in disgust and had you turning your head in the opposite direction. But you weren’t sure when the look of disgust turned into you turning your face to hide the blush that was settling on your cheeks.
And yeah so what if you knew that Eddie Munson drank his coffee with an insane amount of creamer and sugar and how he would never admit it, but that he had a soft spot for ABBA. How he gets this one specific look on his face whenever he’s telling you about the new campaign he’s currently working on; how his eyes glow with excitement just reciting all the things he’s planning on introducing and adding for the guys. That he smiles so wide you can’t help to notice the dimples he has and how they just fit his face. How you want to just kiss him all over and just constantly wish to see him happy and smiling.
Yeah, you’re totally in love with your best friend.
“So… I was thinking over the weekend.”
“Oh, that’s never good.”
He ignores your comment by rolling his eyes playfully. “I was thinking that I have been in this hell hole for far too long. And I haven’t done anything memorable.”
You send a confused look at Eddie, “What about how you have weekly lectures on the lunch tables in the cafeteria, or how you helped raise the drama club funding due to badgering Principal Higgins constantly for a month.” Beckoning for him to explain, you begin to walk to class.
He rolls his eyes again, “Okay, Miss Know-It-All, I meant more…you know.”
“No I don’t know, Eddie.”
He hesitates slightly before continuing “Well, I was talking to the guys and well they think I’m insane but you won't, right?” His wide eyes look over at you expectantly.
“I guess that depends on what you’re about to say.” you tease.
He was nervous, you noted. He wouldn't meet your eyes as he begins to fidget under your stare.
He scratches his head before saying, “I'm gonna ask Chrissy to prom.”
You stop walking, your head spinning to Eddie’s. Your eyes were wide open, which were shifting between his own in disbelief. People walked around you but not without complaining and calling out “Watch out” but you couldn't care less about what was happening around you. Your mind was reeling; it was attempting to decipher whether or not he was telling a joke or not.
He wasn’t.
Fixing your composure you look forward and keep walking. “Isn’t prom in two weeks, that’s kinda a short notice.” You attempt to keep your voice as neutral as possible.
You had known about Eddie’s crush on Chrissy Cunningham since middle school. It had been during the talent show, Eddie had come after you to gush about how she had looked so pretty waving her pom poms in the air that night. Chrissy had done some cheer routine which had gotten her the most applause putting everyone else's show to shame. Regrettably for you, you were the follow-up after her spectacle. You can’t say your flute solo, which you had worked hard on the week leading up to the talent show, was a show-stopper after that.
You didn’t hate Chrissy, you never did and probably never would. She, unfortunately, is the nicest person you’ve ever met, she always talks to you when you have classes together, and how she actually complimented you on your flute solo after you had gotten off the stage even though you had messed up the first measure of the song.
You just couldn’t help but compare yourself to her. You wanted to hate her. You assumed it would be easier to hate her, but that wasn’t the case. You simply hated the fact that you weren’t her. You were the complete antithesis of her; it was honestly ridiculous. While she was the head cheerleader, you were in the stands wearing a stupidly hot outfit and a dumb hat while also playing the flute. You weren’t at rock bottom of the social hierarchy but you still weren't high, you were in the band for Christ’s sake.
You couldn’t fault Eddie for falling for miss pride of Hawkins High, the star-studded cheerleader that was Chrissy Cunningham.
“Well, I heard from the cheerleaders that she rejected Jason Carver already so she’s free and totally doesn't have a date so I figured… well that I would ask her,” Eddie whispers the last part before stopping at your first-period classroom door. “What do you think?”
You shift your gaze to the quickly depleting students in the hall before looking back at your best friend. “You should totally do it.” you say while avoiding his eyes, “I’ll see you at lunch, kay?”
You walk into your class before he can say anything back, choosing to drown your sorrows in algebra instead.
♡‧₊˚
Prom had always been a bit of a dream for you. You had fallen for that American high school cliche, ever since you were ten.
You were driving around with your mom when you passed by Enzo’s and had seen so many people dressed up standing outside waiting in line to get in. Your mom explained to you that it was the senior prom that weekend; since then you had looked forward to the moment in your senior year where you would get to wear your new expensive dress you had bought solely for the event.
After you had gotten home that day, you had rambled to Eddie for the rest of the evening while he pushed you on the swingset at the trailer park. He had just shrugged you off and stayed quiet. You paid him no mind and ignored him by beaming at his face with a toothless grin,
“You’ll go with me to prom right, Eds?”
“Only if you let me swing now.”
“Deal.”
You’d like to say you haven't been in love with Eddie till recently but you’d be lying to yourself.
In your recent years of high school, you found yourself daydreaming about attending prom with your best friend, you always played it off as of course, you’d attend this huge event in your life with Eddie, he was your best friend. If you ignored how much he hated conformist bullshit things such as prom. And each time he got held back, the closer and closer you got to both of you being in the same senior class, your hope grew.
Of course, those were always cut short whenever you had caught Eddie looking at Chrissy at lunch or he’d rant to you about how she wrote the most beautifully, detailed short story in English that day and how she would make such a great DM. Or how at the basketball game last week when halftime was over and the band was given a break you had gotten water and had spotted Eddie in the crowd; even though he has sworn up and down (and publicly) that basketball was dumb. You had just shrugged it off as him supporting Lucas, but you knew deep down it was because of Chrissy.
But you refused to acknowledge otherwise.
You should honestly be happy that he’s going to prom now, granted he wouldn’t be going with you. Nor would he take pictures with you. You both wouldn’t awkwardly be posing in your living room together at your trailer as your mom took a million photos along with Wayne taking the day off to see his boy all dressed up for the prom. Or how your fingers wouldn’t tremble while attempting to pin his corsage on his tux hoping you didn’t poke him. Nor would a single shy smile be transpired between the two of you as you walked into the school gym-turned-prom venue.
Nope, he’d be doing that with Chrissy Cunningham.
You took painstakingly slow steps as you currently walked to your last class of the day. You weren't looking forward to seeing Eddie again. Opting for skipping lunch to wallow in your self-pity in the library instead.
Therefore, you hadn't seen Eddie since morning when he stabbed you in the heart unknowingly with his newfound decision, and honestly, it was probably for the best. It’s not like you were going to ask him to prom anytime soon anyways.
The sound of your footsteps stopping in front of the classroom reached your ears. “Just play it cool,” you mutter to no one. You took a deep breath and walked into the classroom, immediately heading toward your seat in the back corner.
Eddie was already in the seat beside yours, his wide doe eyes met yours when he hears your steps and flashes you a smile, “Sup, where were you during lunch, Gareth’s mom made these killer cookies today.”
You look over at him, “Oh I went to the library,  I had to catch up on some homework,” you lie.
He didn't say anything back just simply letting out a noise signaling he heard your excuse while nodding.
“Well anyways, about earlier.” he raises his eyebrows, “I’m gonna do it today.” He whispers so that people couldn’t listen in.
“...are you?” your tone was neutral.
He shifts his eyes away from yours. “I need to do it now while I have the confidence because if not, I'm gonna psych myself out,” he nods to himself, “Yeah I'm gonna wait for her after her practice is over.”
You study his side profile. His brown eyes were looking at the ceiling in concentration. His Adam's apple bobbed slightly, you find your eyes tracing along his jawline. His hair was a little messy, signaling that he had been running his fingers through it all day.
Willing yourself to say something, “She’ll say yes, Eddie, and if she doesn’t it’s her loss.” You swallow slightly and offer him a small smile.
His hopeful eyes look at you.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
♡‧₊˚
“This is officially the worst day ever.” You groan as you walk into the Family Video.
Steve looks over at Robin from where he was reshelving tapes.
“Uh oh, what happened?” Robin asks reluctantly
“Everything, Robin, everything that could’ve ever gone wrong, has gone wrong.”
After the whole Chrissy-prom-Eddie fiasco yesterday, you had declared the rest of the day a time for self-pitying. All you wanted to do was lie in bed with the covers drawn and completely shut out from the world so that you could comfort yourself in the sad exile you had made.
That was until Eddie called.
Since your blinds were drawn, you hadn’t noticed Eddie coming home earlier. Hence why when the phone rang you almost jumped out of your skin.
Debating whether or not to pick up, you looked at your window longingly knowing who it was on the other side. You ultimately decided to stand up and answer because if you didn't you knew he would just come over instead. And you didn’t exactly what to face Eddie right now, memories rushing to your mind reminded you of how much they were like a slap in the face.
“She said yes.”
He didn’t even wait for you to say hello before revealing his triumph win.
You zoned out after that, not processing the dial zone indicating that he hung up already. You could only recall a little after you walked back to your room that he was going to hang out with the guys because he had promised they’d celebrate the news if she said yes.
The morning had come and gone with you forcing yourself to get out of bed so that you could make it to school today. Eddie met your morning daze with his usual smile when you hopped into his van, you returned it with a small smile but stayed silent. You’d just use the excuse of having stayed up late last night due to catching up on some non-existent homework. Eddie on the other hand took this as permission to gush about how he was finally stoked about something concerning school for once and that he’d be able to share the experience with the girl he had been pining after for years. You simply offer him quiet hums to signify that you were listening.
School was no different, having forced yourself on autopilot, just mindlessly walking to and from class. You attended lunch today, not wanting to rile suspicion and worry with the group, and chose to suck it up and sit through Eddie rambling about how Chrissy had smelled like strawberries and vanilla while he had asked her the million-dollar question.
How she, quote, “had the most radiant smile shining up at him the entire time he talked to her.”
You also chose to ignore the smiles and slight waves she offered him when she made eye contact with him during lunch as well.
Yeah, you weren’t having a good day at all.
Your eyes scanned the store, relief settling once you noticed that it was empty except for your two friends seeing as you didn't bother to note if anyone was there before you blurted out about the nightmare that was your life currently.
Thank god it was a Tuesday afternoon and no one was there to witness your sad-sad life.
Steve was now standing beside Robin having moved during your entire speech after he finished his task.
“It’s just one dance, you know?” he offers, “It’s not like they’ll start dating.” He chuckles awkwardly in hopes of comforting you.
Unfortunately, that was the worst thing he could have said.
“Wait, what if they start dating?” You were going to pass out. “You know, I can’t even be mad at Chrissy, I mean, she’s genuinely the sweetest person. And Eddie, god Eddie, he’s so ecstatic about this, I mean, he’s been pining after her since middle school…middle school! And here I am being a bitch because I couldn't get my shit together and just confess to him about how I feel.” you sigh and drop your head on the counter “He deserves this one thing at least, who am I to get in the way of it?” you say with your voice slightly muffled.
Robin smacked Steve’s shoulder before walking around the counter over to you. “Sweetie, don't get so upset with yourself.” She rubs your shoulders, “Don’t let this small inconvenience deter you from enjoying your prom. Remember? You’ve been looking forward to this since you were ten!”
You look up at her and glance at Steve, meeting his eyes. “Don't let some dumb guy ruin this for you,” he says.
“But he's not some dumb guy, he's Eddie,” you whisper.
“Well, you got me, babe, kay? You can come along with Vicki and me, we’ll have an amazing time together just us, no guys - well that doesn't bother me - but you know what I mean, just us gals, what do you say?”
You don't reply so Robin continues, “This is me officially asking you to prom, are you gonna reject me or not?” she bumps your shoulder with a slight smirk on her freckled face.
You smile at her, “Okay.”
♡‧₊˚
After Robin had invited you to accompany her and Vicki to prom, you felt a little better. It helped you keep your mind off Eddie and allowed you to look forward to the event of which you’d be attending with your other best friend.
It had been almost two weeks since Eddie had asked Chrissy to prom and she had evidently accepted with a “sure why not!” Eddie had ranted to you about how he had a nice conversation with her and how she seemed genuinely excited for prom (you cried in the bathroom after that.)
The entire school was reeling over the fact that Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson was taking the queen of Hawkins High, Chrissy Cunningham, to prom. Jason was livid but every time he tried to say something to Eddie during lunch, Chrissy would shut him down, which you were grateful for.
Another reason why you couldn’t hate her.
Along with Eddie being over the moon about taking his dream girl to prom, he could never seem to shut up about her either. At any possible time, whether at lunch or on the drive home from school, or even during your own personal hang-out time; Eddie always seemed to be talking about one person.
And that person was not you.
Last weekend, Eddie had knocked at your door in a panic about how the suit he was wearing was too big on him and that he looked like a loser, “you always look like a loser.” You pulled him inside so that you could grab your mother’s sewing kit and figure out how you were going to help him tailor Wayne’s old suit to fit him better. “Thanks, princess, what would I do without you?”
While you played tailor, you let it slip that you - surprisingly - haven’t bought a dress yet so in return, he offered to take you dress shopping. The next day he came barreling into your room announcing that the two of you were going shopping at the mall in the town over in hopes of finding your dream dress.
You're one hundred percent sure that Eddie’s cute little reactions every time you stepped out of the dressing room will forever replay in your mind for the rest of your life. Even for the dresses you immediately dismissed and deemed ugly, you were still praised by him.
“I look horrible in this, what even are these sleeves?”
“I kinda dig the sleeves, makes you look like a real princess, princess.”
That smile, god that smile of his. Perhaps it was your delusions or maybe you genuinely saw a flicker of something in Eddie’s eyes when he would glance over your figure, drinking in your body in the dress you were currently showcasing for him. Either way, you were quite literally fooling yourself entirely because he wasn’t going with you,
he was going with Chrissy.
When you got home that day, you decided that you weren't just going to sit around anymore and cry about how things weren't working out. You have been looking forward to prom since you were a kid, you were going to fulfill that ten-year-old you’s dream.
Pulling your blinds close so that they could block any sort of visual that you'll get from Eddie when he got home you grabbed your walkman and climbed into bed. You weren't in the mood to talk to him at the moment, it was Friday meaning the prom was tomorrow and you were currently losing your mind.
Sadly, God wasn’t through with tormenting you just yet.
The sound of the phone ringing ricocheted throughout your house, forcing you to pull yourself up from your current spot on your bed.
“Hello?”
“Wanna go for a drive?”
No, you wanted to wallow in your self-pity and die.
“Sure.”
After slipping on some shoes, you walk out of your trailer and trek the small way toward Eddie’s. He was leaning against his van, cigarette in hand. The moon showered Eddie in its light, making him look ethereal. You didn’t check the time before you left but you knew it was a little late already, the moon was high in the sky, set for the night that was to come.
You hadn’t heard him get home earlier you wondered where he had been the entire day. He must have gotten home just now. Weird.
His head perks up at the sound of your shoes hitting the gravel, he gives you that dimpled smile you love so much and drops the cigarette on the ground before putting it out with his shoe. “Thought we both could go for a drive, hop in.”
He didn’t wait for you to reply and simply walked around to the driver’s side and turned the ignition on.
You took your place in the passenger seat and instantly rummaged through the glove box to look for a new cassette to play.
He looks over at you as you pop in Dio’s The Last in Line, wordlessly. The beginning cords of  “We Rock” play as you sit back and look out the window.
“Where are you taking us, ole mystery man?” you say after a couple of minutes.
“Oh, it’s a surprise, fair maiden.” he laughs softly, “Not really, uh I'm just heading to Lover’s Lake.” His voice is soft, almost too soft. It confuses you slightly, prompting you to look over at your best friend. His eyes were focused on the stretch of road ahead, it felt like he was ignoring your eyes.
The both of you don't say anything after that, simply basking in Ronnie James Dio’s voice till you arrive at your destination.
The soft shutter of the ignition indicated that Eddie had parked already, so you quickly unbuckle yourself and crawled to the back of the van while Eddie cracked open the doors.
He had settled on a lone area off the edge of the lake. It was quiet. You took a quick glance at the dashboard before leaving your seat and noticed that it was nine already. The moon shined on the soft ripples coming from the lake, relaxing your surprisingly tense shoulders.
“Here,” Eddie’s voice cuts the air, offering you a blanket from the back of his van to you.
“Thanks,” you say after a beat, “so, are you excited about tomorrow or are you completely shitting yourself about taking your dream girl to the prom, Munson?”
You peer down to look at his knees that were on display with the worn-out jeans he loved to wear so much. The glint of his rings sparkled signaling that he was drawing shapes on his thigh. One of his nervous ticks, you noted.
You focus your vision back on the water ahead of you, ignoring his stare; you will yourself to not make eye contact with his brown eyes.
You can do this.
You will not lose your best friend over some silly crush.
“Let’s…not talk about Chrissy. I wanna talk about you. I feel like I don’t know about anything that’s happened to you in the last two weeks.” he pauses for a second, “I’m sorry that I’ve just been talking about her all the time recently.”
The unexpected apology throws you off, you look over at your best friend and bump his shoulder, “Are you okay?”
The question hangs in the air for a bit, it seemed as if he was mulling it over. Your eyebrows twitch in confusion.
“You remember that day when you learned what prom was and declared to the entire town that you were going to attend it once it was your turn?” His eyes were glassy.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t stop talking about it for weeks, you threatened me that if I wouldn't shut up you’d tape my mouth shut.” You laugh quietly at the memory.
After your laughter dies down as you glance over at him. He looks at you and smiles. “I’m not…,” he hesitates, “I’m not sure…how I should style my hair tomorrow,”
Your smile falters slightly before you catch yourself and beam up at him, “I love your hair the way it is, Eds, keep it like that.”
He nods at you and looks away, “We should probably get back, I didn’t tell my mom where I was going,” you murmur.
“Of course, can’t have the princess getting in trouble, can we?” he grins at you.
Oh, how you love him.
♡‧₊˚
If you were to tell fourteen-year-old Eddie Munson that he would be attending prom with the girl he’d been crushing on. He wouldn't have believed you.
He’d turn to his best friend and laugh in your face with her, cackling to the insane statements along with her. That same best friend who encouraged him to ask Chrissy in the first place. The same best friend who has dreamed about prom since she was a kid and the same best friend whom he wouldn't be attending it with.
You’d think Eddie would be excited, but he couldn’t help but have a small feeling inside his heart that hurt.
He drums his fingers on his steering wheel, the anxiety pooling in his stomach. His eyes glance over at your trailer, your blinds were pulled but he could see a sliver of light peeking through, most likely from your lamp. It was quiet in there, he assumed you were listening to your walkman. You had always preferred listening to your music with your headphones rather than blaring it out loud as he did.
He closes his eyes and lets out a long sigh. “Fuck, she was right,” he mutters.
He couldn’t stop thinking about what Chrissy had said.
He had been walking out of the school after he had finished pre-planning everything he wanted to do in the next Hellfire session. Yesterday, the guys had completely thrown him off so he needed to fix up his original idea for the next session next week. It never hurt to start early.
He was making his way over to the picnic table in the woods behind the school so that he could smoke before he left home for the day. His eyes glanced around the parking lot before passing through it, not many students were loitering around; choosing to immediately book it after the bell seeing as it was Friday and on top of that the Friday before prom.
He had barely stepped onto the grass that led to the woods when he heard his name being called.
He looked over his shoulder only to see Chrissy walking toward him. “Hey, Eddie,” her polished nails were waving at him, causing him to stop in his tracks.
“What’s up?” he shoots her a quick smile.
“Oh, were you busy? Because I really need to talk to you.” Her pleading eyebrows were creased in a slight worry.
“Ah nah, I was just heading to my spot to smoke before I went home.” his gaze shifts back to her, “Walk with me?”
Chrissy simply nods and begins walking beside him.
Eddie attempts to find something to say during the short distance to the picnic table, scouring through his brain in hopes of making the walk less awkward than it was.
It was never awkward with you.
He shook his head before he realized he had finally reached his destination, he sits down and pulls out a cigarette before beckoning Chrissy to say what she needed to say.
She takes a deep breath. “When you asked me to go to prom with you, I was inclined to say no.” She pauses for a second before catching herself, “Not in that way, um, I just never really thought you liked me. I mean I don’t think we’ve ever really talked before.” She thinks for a bit, “Maybe during the middle school talent show…” Her eyes shoot up to his, “god what was the name of your band, it was such an insane name, I loved it.”
“Corroded Coffin” Eddie answers with a smile.
“Corroded Coffin! Oh my gosh yes!” She laughs before looking off to the side, “I honestly thought you were dating someone already.” She says your name, “Yeah I could’ve sworn y’all were dating, so when you asked me to go to prom, it completely caught me off guard.” She nods to herself in confirmation.
At the sound of your name, Eddie perks up. “Wait you thought I was dating her?” He quickly laughs, waving her off. “No, we’re not-we’re not dating, we’re just friends.” He doesn’t meet her eyes.
“I don’t think you want to be.” She says quietly.
His eyebrows screw together, “what?”
“Look, I don’t know you too well and I don’t really know her too well either,” she bites her lip slightly, “I think you should go with her…to prom.”
Eddie just stares at her, not saying a word.
Chrissy sets her bag down and sits down now, “I’ve seen you during lunch, well god, I mean how could I not!” she laughs and shakes her head quickly, “Your face just looks so…in love when you look at her. It’s like you hang onto every word she says to you. And I’m not sure you realize that. And if you haven’t, she hasn’t either and is probably devastated that you asked me to prom and not her.”
Eddie finally looks into Chrissy’s eyes now. Her eyes were big and full, they look a little glassy like she was going to cry, but not of sadness, no, Eddie didn’t think she was upset, she looks like she was in awe. In awe at him. At the love that he had not for her but for his best friend. Her face looked like she yearned for this supposed love that she claimed he had for you.
She smiles, “So, I’m not going to prom with you, Eddie,” Chrissy says with a tone of finality.
“Thank you…for this intervention,” he looks away, “didn’t know I needed it.” his voice was quiet.
Chrissy laughs but doesn’t say anything as she gets up, she ruffles slightly with her bookbag and slings it onto her back. She begins to walk away before she turns around to look at Eddie one last time. “I better see you at prom tomorrow and not alone.” She sent him one last smile and walked away.
Surprisingly, Eddie wasn’t upset or sad, instead, he was relieved.
He sits there in silence for what felt like an eternity. The afternoon sunlight beamed on him like stripes due to the trees providing a bit of shade for him. He felt like he was processing everything and nothing at the same time.
He had to leave, he had to get to you now.
Eddie’s mind was still reeling when he was getting close to Forest Hills, as much as he wanted to park in front of your trailer, run into your room, and tell you all that he was thinking,
he simply couldn’t.
So instead he doesn’t turn into the trailer park but rather keeps driving.
How could he have been so blind? All these years of pining after Chrissy Cunningham he thought it was her he wanted. He thought that whenever he would talk about her smile and how her face would light up a room it was Chrissy he was talking about but in actuality, it was you. It was always you.
It has always been you, ever since he had moved in beside your trailer into his uncle's. It has always been you cheering for him like when he had gotten nervous to go on stage for the talent show and Jeff had thrown up backstage. It has always been you whom he would talk to all through the night after you would slip through the window in his room. It has always been you listening to him rant on and on about the new campaign he was preparing for the guys. It has always been you. It will always be you.
And now it was dark outside, the moon replacing the sun for the night. Eddie sits submerged in your presence at Lover’s Lake. He knows that you suspect something is off about him.
“Are you okay?”
No Eddie wasn’t okay. He wanted to scream to the world that he had been in love with you for the longest time. To lose his voice after telling you about all the little things he loves about you, how he was stupid for not realizing sooner and for making you go through the last few years of him pining after a girl he never even loved.
But instead, he gives a lame excuse of not knowing how to style his hair.
He sees your smile falter but doesn't say anything.
And then you offer him that beautiful smile of yours.
God, he hates himself. Why couldn’t Eddie just say that he loves you? He curses himself for being such a coward.
Oh, how you love him.
Oh, how he loves you.
♡‧₊˚
You spent the morning lounging in your bed basking in your sadness before you force yourself to get distracted with the makeup and the music from the reality that was your life.
So what if the guy you’ve been in love with was going to prom with someone else? Totally not the end of the world, right?
“Sweetie, you should be leaving to pick up Robin or you’re going to be late.” Your mom’s voice echoes throughout the trailer.
“Yeah, I'm almost done” you yell back as you grab your heels.
Your eyes dart over at your window. You couldn’t help to notice that Eddie’s van was still parked, meaning he hasn’t left to pick Chrissy up yet. It was getting late already, prom was at seven but it was already quarter past and you had assumed Chrissy would want to get there early or something.
You finish putting your heels on and go to look in the mirror. This was it. You were finally going to attend prom, granted not with Eddie but you were still going with your friends.
With one last look in the mirror, you grab your purse and head out of the safe haven that was your room.
The sound of your doorbell rings throughout the trailer, “I’ll get it,” you say as you pass your mom in the kitchen.
Weird, must’ve been Robin.
A smirk finds its way on your face as you walk up toward the door. “No way, you drove here yourself-”
You open the door, fully expecting a dolled-up Robin (to her standards) in front of you, but to your surprise, it was someone else.
Eddie.
He was standing there in his tux that you had helped tailor. His hair’s down, it looks freshly washed and his curls look bouncy as ever; he had taken your advice that you had told him at the lake. He’s wearing that iconic jewelry of his, the rings he had on extenuating his long fingers. He chose to ditch the tie altogether and instead unbuttoned the first two buttons on the shirt, showing a sliver of his collarbones to the world.
“Uh, no I walked over actually,” Eddie says with a laugh.
After getting over your initial shock you smile at your best friend. “Eds, what are you doing here?”
You look at him expectantly and notice his eyes scanning your form, he swallows quickly before he looks back at you. His face had a slight blush to it.
No way. Did Eddie just check you out?
Eddie doesn't reply so you begin to ramble nervously. “Look at you,” you force a laugh, “Look at you going to prom” without me.
He just stares at you, not saying anything, so you continue. “I can't believe you're going with your dream girl,” you smile sadly, “you did it.”
He finally seems to process that he was standing in front of you and quickly stutters out, “Chrissy dumped me,” your eyebrows shoot up, “yeah, I’m not going with her anymore.” His eyes scan your face.
You blink, “Oh, I'm sorry I didn't - you didn’t tell me.”
“She’s not my dream girl”
“Huh?”
“She’s not my dream girl. You are.”
Were you going insane? You didn’t say anything, you couldn’t say anything. What did he mean that you were his dream girl? You simply stared at Eddie, blinking not saying a word. Your mouth was closing and opening attempting to locate words but your brain was currently malfunctioning.
“I don’t think I understand?” your eyes shift behind Eddie’s form, searching for something.
This was a joke. Surely Chrissy was going to pop out from behind and yell “Sike!” and then they were going to laugh in your face because Eddie had found out that you’ve been in love with him and had found it hilarious. This must have been some cruel prank that they were pulling.
But no one comes out. Eddie doesn’t laugh in your face but instead, he steps forward.
“Princess, you’re my dream girl. You always have been, I was just too blind to notice.” His brown eyes look at yours.
Those wide, loving eyes of his. God, you love him.
“I realized that I wasn't in love with Chrissy, she was just a crush that I had when I realized I would never be able to be with you. I think in fear of being rejected by you, I inadvertently did it anyway by developing that fantasy idea of her. It’s not Chrissy I've been in love with all these years, it's you.” He finishes his confession with a final sigh of relief.
You gulp. “You…love me?”
“Of course I love you, how couldn’t I?” he says with a shy smile.
That’s all you needed.
So you kiss him.
After years of pining. After years of wondering why Eddie wouldn’t just look your way. Of vying after him, you finally have his attention.
The kiss feels rushed like the two of you were chasing the years of lost time. Cursing at the other for having been missing out on this one single act. Hell, at this moment you're not sure how you were able to go years without kissing Eddie, and you don’t ever want to know how again.
He pulls away reluctantly. “So,” he pecks you once more, “if you’ll allow me, I made a deal, and I intend on keeping that promise, sweetheart.”
You crinkle your eyebrows in confusion for a second before it hits you,
he remembered.
A grin breaks out on your face. The childish voices ring in your memories.
“You’ll go with me to prom right, Eds?”
“Only if you let me swing now.”
“Deal.”
“I’d love to, Eds.”
A grin splits onto Eddie’s face, “Whew, thank god, I almost thought I had gotten all pretty for no reason.”
You felt giddy. Your heart was overcome with emotion, you hoped you wouldn't wake up from this dream.
But this wasn’t a dream. This was true.
Interlacing your fingers with Eddie’s you close the door and smile, “Yeah, let’s go to prom together.”
“Wait, what about Robin?”
“Ah, I already called her.”
“Oh, how presumptuous of you.”
“Big words, fair maiden, you know just how to get me going don’t cha, princess?”

I did use the wiki page on the tour for the order of where they played so it makes a bit of sense. Now, on with the story~
Tumblr media
Dear, Y/N
I knew you'd end up looking into my shirt drawer once I left for tour, so I figured I would leave you a little surprise. I knew you'd miss me too much that you would just HAVE to wear one of my shirts to bed ;)
Alright, I'll stop being a jackass now. You told me how much you love letters so I figured I'd write some for you while I'm on the road. As I'm writing this, I haven't even left yet and I already miss you so much. This is gonna suck mega balls, I know it.
Try and get some sleep and take care of yourself while I'm gone, My Star. I'll try and see you whenever I can and I'll call as often as possible.
Love always, your rock, Cliff.
Dear, Y/N
I hope you enjoyed my first letter, we just made it to St. Louis. I don't know how many of these I'll be able to write and receive just because we'll be moving so fast, but I'll write as many as I can, I pinky promise. (See? I do remember things)
Every show so far has been FUCKING WILD! God, I wish you could be here to see it all, I think you'd love it.
I miss you, Y/N. I don't wanna be sad and sappy but it's true. You're My Star, how am I supposed to be a rockstar without My Star? Right now, I'm just a rock and that's not nearly as cool. I'm gonna stop writing this so I can call you.
I love you always, your rock, Cliff.
Dear, Y/N
Fuck, I'm so sorry. I haven't written in forever. I'll try and do better after these next California shows. At least we'll get to see each other for those, right? It's gonna feel amazing to hug you and finally have you in my arms again. The guys miss you too. Kirk says he needs you to paint his nails again before we leave again like it won't be gone in like three days.
I hope you're taking good care of yourself and I'll see you soon.
Love always, your rock, Cliff
Dear, Y/N
WE'RE IN EUROPE BABE!!!!!
It's honestly so cool, we explored some old castles and shit yesterday. The time zones keep waking me out so I don't know when to try and call you, I'm sorry I haven't.
I have been taking pictures for you though. We could make a little scrapbook with them when I get home! We are currently in Ireland so you best believe we are drinking THE BEST beer ever.
I honestly don't know what to write about. All I know is that I love you and I miss you and I can't wait to come home or at least fly you out for a show in some random country.
Soon, My Star,
I love you always, your rock, Cliff.
Dear, Y/N
Hey, it's Lars. I know you already got the news by the time it gets to you, but I know he'd want me to send it anyway, even if it isn't finished. We'll be there soon. Hang tight, please. We love you.
Dear, Y/N
Europe is officially my favorite. The best breakfasts and the best beers? What more could I need other than you here? I am definitely bringing you here one day. I promise.
