The list can get longer tbh, I have a harder time piecing together differences. And don’t give me the “Caster is nicer” line, define nice? A cookie cutter treatment to everyone?

For example: If you go to Caster on your birthday in FGO, no matter what your bond is, he will give you the same response.

On the other hand with Archer, if your bond is past 4, Gil gets annoyed with you for not giving him enough time to plan for your birthday.

Even in Fate EXTELLA, Archer Gil gives you candy after every mission!!!

If you don’t want to know the character, cool, but don’t say that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the two are night and day to each other.

I think that people forget that Daeron was sent to Oldtown to ward to his uncle and great uncle, where the Hightower front was so strong so it was actually a smart move on Alicent’s part because just in case a war were to erupt, Daeron and his dragon could lead the Hightower army to aid KL just as it happened. So yes, Alicent sent Daeron away to safety but she gave him a political and military role at the same time. Not to forget that he was less than 10 years old when he left her, and he soon found himself deprived of this safety and plunged into war. The poison drips through because Alicent and Gwayne didn’t have a childhood, and neither did Daeron.

You make some interesting points about Daeron and although I think it was definitely a political move that Alicent discussed with Otto first before she even told Viserys, and Otto perhaps mentioned all the benefits of having Daeron be ward in Oldtown like you stated above, I still think that Alicent’s intent was to preserve the purity, kindness, and innocence of this child and to protect him against corruptive influences.

She also wished for him to be safe and to have the childhood she (and Gwayne) were denied, just as she wished for all her children, but alas, she’s destined to have her plans fail and to feel like a complete failure of a mother, as her story is repeated through her children: none of them get to have a childhood.

However, Alicent could never have predicted the chain of events that took the lives of her children and grandchildren, and if her choices proved to be wrong, just remember that they were the best possible choices she had access to at the point.

Alicent might have wished for Daeron and all her children to live safely somewhere far away from KL but this option wasn’t available to her. She had to make do with the cards she’d been dealt with. Aegon would have to ascend the throne, Helaena would be his wife and Queen, and Aemond would be best kept close in hand in case something were to happen to Aegon. Daeron would indeed serve the Hightower cause best in Oldtown, where he would have to live far away from his mother (like his uncle had done) but he would also escape all the bickering, scheming, violence, rivalry, and cruelty of court life, as well as seeing his father’s body rot in front of his eyes day after day.

We do well to keep a critical eye on her decisions, but if you take the larger context into account, you see that there is limited flexibility in what Alicent could have done differently. She really did the best she could.

And that’s so tragic in itself, because even her best wasn’t enough to save the lives of her kids.

Wrong. The most fucked up, sadistic, and effective thing Zim did to Dib happened in “Dib’s Wonderful Life of Doom” and there is no close debate to be had on the matter. That walk of humiliation and genuinely upset “you stink, Zim” after being shot by a muffin instead of some instant alien death beam let you know loud and clear that one incident was going to take a hell of a lot longer to get over than rubber pigs and a moo can.
