y'all really requested it, I'm here for it tho cuz yes to Riddle <3 There's a request for a fluffier Riddle fic so stay tune for that.

Since your imprisonment, Riddle has been trying to appeal for your release ever since, but his mother was adamant in her decision. So, Riddle instead made it his goal to convince his mother for him to inherit the throne as soon as possible so that he could revoke your sentence and you could return to the kingdom, and to him. 

Thus, he worked to prove himself to his mother. He led conquests of other lands to expand the Rosehearts reign. He busied himself in establishing trading routes with other kingdoms, increasing the flow of valuable materials and talented individuals coming into the kingdom. Through his efforts, the kingdom became bigger and richer.

He was an unbending force that yielded to no one, not even to his own mother as he kept pushing to create a utopia of a kingdom and prove himself a worthy ruler. He needed to be the perfect emperor and to an extent he succeeded as he was an amazing leader with keen senses and foresight but he can come across as somewhat tyrannical to others due to his lack of sympathy for others who delayed his plans.

He couldn’t afford incompetence and laziness. If others cannot perform to his expectations, how can he inherit the throne at this rate and have you waiting longer. 

The final push to his already short patience was when he received your last letter. You were planning to escape from your tower, and he may never see you again. He made you wait too long and you planned to disappear, likely lead a new life, meet new people... find someone to love and marry...

In desperation, Riddle marched to his mother in the throne room with his army and the nobility on his side, demanding that she step down. Without a reason against it, the royal power has switched and Riddle was the official king. His first order was for his men to bring you to the palace.  

“Well, that explained the lack of letters, I supposed” you murmur as you walked down the halls of the palace, your new home. You questioned the legitimacy of Chenya’s words when he mentioned how busy Riddle had been, but you realized he truly wasn’t exaggerating.

You thought about softening Riddle’s rule, but the situation was trickier than you expected as Riddle’s actions teeter between tyranny and necessary as his laws were for the greater good, if not a little strict. 

“No! It is unacceptable!” your train of thought was disrupted as you heard a familiar voice coming from one of the larger rooms, you recognized it as the kitchen. “Common etiquette dictates that tea is served after 2 minutes has passed after being steeped in water heated at 325 degrees, letting it cool. You have ruined this batch of tea with your incompetence!” 

Today, he happens to be in a tyrannical mood.

You cautiously walked in and saw a precarious situation. Riddle was the center of the commotion, angrily reprimanding a young woman you assumed was a new maid who was hysterically apologizing again and again to your husband.

“I’m sorry, your highness!” the maid cried, kneeling before Riddle with her hands on the floor and head down, her tears dripping endlessly.

“Do you intend to harm the royal family, serving my beloved with this disgusting, boiling mess? Leave this palace at once!” Riddle furiously yelled to which the maid further sobbed in apology. Working in the imperial palace is the highest honor but being fired from the royal family is akin to social annihilation as no other family would dare to hire such a worker. Your heart went out to the poor woman.

“Riddle?” your voice catches Riddle’s attention and he turned to see you by the door.

“Rosie” he whispered which made you shy at first, having others know that old nickname is a little embarrassing. Nonetheless, you continued to walk towards him.

“Isn’t this too harsh? It seems to be an honest mistake” you defended the woman, but Riddle was firm in his stance. 

“You cannot be serious” Riddle sighed. “Anyone associated with high society knows this basic practice. How can you be so forgiving?” 

“Because…I don’t know it” 

Silence filled the room as Riddle stared at you while you continued to confess your incompetence, as Riddle would put it. 

“I don’t know the right temperature to steep tea. I can't tell what's good tea or bad tea, hot or cold” you profess your ignorance, a little ashamed. You started your training as a future member of the royal family at a young age but when you were sent into your tower, you were cut off from social interaction and obligations. You restarted your etiquette training but with everyone comparing you to the prodigy that is your husband, you understand how disheartening criticisms can be. 

You reach out to clasp Riddle’s hands which seems to have a calming effect as his reddening face cooled down, although a faded blush was still present.

“People have their own pace to perfect something, Riddle. Us included” you said as you softly rubbed Riddle’s knuckles in a soothing manner. “I think we should give people the chance to learn and redeemed themselves. What do you say?”

Riddle let out a sigh before turning to the maid kneeling down before him. His stare was piercing, like a sharp sword cutting through one's soul.

“You have one more chance” he declares sternly. “If you fail to improve yourself, consider your time here over”

You felt relieved, grateful that your childhood friend is still willing to listen to others, a sign that he could change for the better, away from the original story. Seeing your smile brought out a subtle one on Riddle’s lips as he revels in your soft hold, in bliss to be in your warm presence after so long. He was in such a hurry to gain the throne that he would strike down those that stand between his goal, but with you finally standing beside him, his mad need for perfection seems less insistent.

The new servants, however, were astonished. Seeing their ruthless master known for his temper and unforgiving nature, rescind his order. The servants thought what an odd couple you two were but were grateful for your intervention regardless.

“How can you still not remember proper tea etiquette?” Riddle gently reprimands you, though he recalls how nonchalant you were with your lessons even during your younger years “You need to start taking your lessons more seriously and not just skim through the books”

“You know me too well, Riddy” You giggled despite his scolding, before looking at him teasingly “You could always teach me, you know? We can make it a special lesson, just the two of us”

Riddle’s face flushed red at the idea, imagining a whole session with just him and you without the intervention of his advisors or your guards, especially those two new rookie knights that has gotten close to you lately. It would be just him that holds your attention, only he would hold your gaze as you smile and laugh with him, perhaps even sharing treats with him along with your tea.

“Hmph, I suppose if you need someone who can show you proper technique, I could find the time for it”

You let out a laugh as you thanked him, not noticing the flabbergasted looks of your audience. The older servants who knew your relationship with Riddle are not the most surprised by Riddle's leniency with you but for others...

"Your highness...making tea..."

"Pinch me...I must be dreaming"

"That tyrannical maniac...is blushing?!"

You have your work cut out for you but nobody else has sway with Riddle as you do.

How could I have forgotten about Lene’s teachings on “the Way of the Maid”. This should be good.

I see the other Knights showed up this time. I’m sure at least some of them are regretting not sitting on the last meeting when Rod pushed his proposal.

I will say this about Rod, he doesn’t half-ass things. If he’s going to do something, he’s going to put the effort in, hence why he is one of the top students.

Okay, with the glasses, she reminds me of the François Head Maid. I suppose it makes sense she is to blame for this.

Even as a child, Lene had mastered the art of manipulating Claire.

Hmm, I think Misha wears it best.

Also, putting lipstick on Lorek is just adding insult to injury.

Oh, no, Claire as a butler is more dangerous than I thought. I saw that shot in the preview but hearing her speak is doing something to me. And now I know why so many girls ended up falling for Claire later on in the series.

If Rae didn’t take this opportunity, I’d have been disappointed in her.

Claire, don’t threaten her with a good time, you know how she is by now.

It’s that guy, whose name is not really worth remembering. If it weren’t for the momentary focus on him, he’d blend in with all the background characters.

Now isn’t that interesting. During an “event” where one of the three love interests shows up, it is actually Claire to the rescue. I mean, if we are talking about the LI with the highest affection level, who else would it be?

I think that covers the Lene-focused flashbacks from Claire’s childhood. We did the ones focused on her mother last episode. I wonder when they plan to show us the rest.

You doing okay, Thane? Sounds like you’re losing the will to live.

This is the closest to courtship that Rae has actually done since she met Claire. To put it another way, Rae finally (kind-of) asked Claire out on a date.

Claire, you really set yourself up for that.

This Haunted House gets an A for atmosphere, and an F for costume design.

Does that boy have a permanent blush, or is he that into Yu and Rae?

Rae may understand and agree with the Commoner Movement, but making sure Claire gets her “happy ending” is her priority. If, hypothetically, the Movement ever became a threat to Claire, Rae would not hesitate to show them what a dualcaster can do.

Seriously, Rae, how do you not get it yet? The first time you properly ask Claire out on a date, which she willingly agreed to, and you close it out by wishing her luck getting with someone else. No wonder the poor girl is so confused and not sure whether to believe in your love or not.

I do get to a certain extent what Rae means when she says Claire saved her. I had a similar life-altering experience playing a certain game. It had such an impact on me, that when I changed my name, I took that character’s name as part of my new one.

Rae doesn’t realise the opportunity she let slip by. Still, Claire did hold on to the necklace.

I see Claire’s ED song has changed, just like Rae’s, which I still haven’t found a translation for, yet.

Guess we’re skipping the shopping encounter with Dole, Claire’s father. I suppose that’s fine. Unless we get a second season, there’s not much point teasing the audience too much if there’s no guarantee of a payoff.

I figured if we had the extra time this episode, we’d have that as a cliffhanger.

Scar's celestial body theory

So Scar won Secret Life and everyone is looking for what celestial body would fit him (mercury, earth, eclipse, pluto, void, dark matter and others) I’m here to propose another idea, the hypothetic planet know as Theia.

If you don’t know, Theia was a planet that merged with earth and the other half became the moon. The reason why I think Theia can work is because it links every current theory together. 

Scar won by killing the moon (Pearl) while Theia becomes the moon, this could a reference to the event in the series. Scar is often assisted with sunflowers in Secret Life which grow on earth which is half of Theia. The moon also causes eclipse along with the sun, in greek mythology Theia is the titan goddess of sight and vision and mother to Helios( the sun), Selene(the moon) and Eos(the dawn) therefore creating an eclipse. 

Theia is known as “the goddess who endowed gold, silver, and gems with their brilliance and intrinsic value”. Do you know who is also associated with gold, silver, and gems? Pluto, as he is not only the God of the underworld but also riches. There's a theory that Theia might have been a dwarf planet like Pluto however that is uncertain as I can only find this info on the Dwarf planet wikipedia page.

Mercury known as the god of deceit and trickery is popular idea for Scar however I think this could fit Theia as it unknown if this planet existed hence 'deceit and trickery'. The moon and Mercury also share many similarities, it has no atmosphere and its surface is covered with craters with similar size and mass.

I've also heard about dark matter/void theory, dark matter is “matter that does not interact with baryonic matter except gravitationally on cosmic scales” The collision was caused by the gravity of Venus and Jupiter. Theia is also not visual as it no longer exist like dark matter and the void. 

Theia also links all the previous winner together, Grian being the sun (Helios and the Earth but also mercury as there a lot on the sun for that theory) Scott being the star ( Theia is also called Aethra meaning Blue-Sky, star are found in the night sky and linked closely with the moon) Pearl being the moon ( Selene and Theia being the moon) and Martyn being Mars ( Mars and Earth share a lot of similarities and Eos was a lover of Ares). Why is this important? One of Scar main objection was to try and make friends despite his villainess arc which can be linked back to mythology as the enemies of the gods were the titans. Theia being the titan goddess of sight and vision can be portrayed as the wisdom that he uses to accomplishes trades with others as Scar has been described as having a silver tongue.

For the idea of scar being a comet I don't have much for that one besides comets colliding with planets and how Theia collided with Earth along with comets being made of gas and dust which planets are also formed from.

I think the similarities that Theia share with the other planets (especially the Earth and the moon) can be a way for everyone idea to come together. There's one more thing I want to add that I don't know where it fits. Scar almost won last life but he won secret life parallels to how Theia was given a second chance as the Earth. Howdy! Have you ever read any webtoons where the characters just screamed yandere?

Err, do you mean like, that you can tell straight away that they're a yandere? Or like just straight on have a yandere vibe, or general aesthetic? Either way, I'll try my best to make a good list for this.

Secret Alliance - Lero makes really good stuff and Secret Alliance kind of rolls you into the yandere right away. That and you can see a lot of different screenshots of it all over the yandere community. A good story too.

It's Mine - just based on the first chapter alone you can tell that you'll be in for a ride, also pretty good development for the yandere in question.

Killer in Love - technically this one is a manga, but it does also scream yandere. I never actually finished this one but I can confirm there is at least two in this one.

I’m a Villainess but I Became A Mother - rams you with the yandere outright with possessiveness, kidnapping and a bunch of other things.

My Perverted Stalker - also hits with the yandere pretty quick. It's a BL though and the relationship between them is surprisingly solid.

Villain’s Savior - also has a yandere main lead with very strong yandere tendencies pretty much right off the bat.

I Lost the Leash of the Yandere Male Lead - I read this before it became a webcomic as a webnovel, but it is right in the title and the yandere does seem to live up to his name in terms of the title.

The prompt is sort of vague, so I'm not sure if this list is the kind of things you're looking for. Hopefully though, it will help you in finding some more male yanderes.

WELL I’M GLAD YOU ASKED! (No, really, thank you for giving me an opportunity to ramble. You don’t have to read all of this.) 

So the Villainess transmigrator is a person who lives by the philosophy of “do no harm but take no shit”. In her previous life, her father was a murderer in a publicized case, and served a lifetime in prison. Despite the negative press haunting her family, she was raised with love by her single mother, who drilled this philosophy into her skull before she passed away, “the world is not fair, but as long as you live an honest and upright life, you can live with your head held high regardless of other people’s judgements.” 

That’s the path she plan to take in this life. She will live an honest and good life, and if she’s still cast as a Villainess, well, she’s already died once. At least she’d be able to die without shame. 

(She died pushing a jaywalking child away from oncoming vehicle, as they do in this genre.) 

She devoted her time to philanthropy, and didn’t work particularly hard to ingratiated herself with the cast, but she was good to them and was generally as good a person as one can be while being a parasitic noble in an oligarchy. By the time the plot started she had a good reputation and decent rapport with the cast. 

When the Heroine showed up, she was different from what the Villainess had remembered… The heroine of the game was a quiet, nondescript girl. This girl was quiet, but seemed oddly intense, the Villainess kept feeling like the Heroine was watching her. 

One day, while humming the tune of a pop-song from her previous life, the Heroine overheard. The girl’s eyes widened and, with desperate hope, came up and clutched the Villainess’s hands, “I knew it! You’re from the real world too, aren’t you?” 

The Heroine was the child of immigrants in her past life. She was drilled all her life with how much sacrifices her parents had made so she could live a good life. She became a lawyer as her parents had wished, but just when she reached her desired salary, she became disillusioned by both her job and the expectations of her parents. She decided to quit her job at the prestigious law firm to work with a non-profit, much to the dismay of her parents. 

She was heading to her new job when she swerved her car to avoid a jaywalking child. A woman came out of nowhere to push the child away, and she wasn’t able to avoid hitting her. She lost control of her car and crashed. 

The Heroine felt horrible about dying, and about still being alive. She felt like she had abandoned her parents, who had sacrificed their lives in their homeland to give her the chance for a better one. Even tho she’s still alive, everything she knew was gone. Despite her role as the protagonist of an otome game, she had a hard time actually connecting with any of the characters because that’s what they were, characters. They follow a script which she had read multiple times through multiple play-throughs. None of them seemed real. 

None of them except the Villainess and her Servant. Those are the only two people who are off-script. 

(The Villainess’s Servant was originally one of the Heroine’s love interests from the game. In the game, he was an abused, quiet young man that the Protagonist had to "rescue" from his cruel mistress. In this life, he was the first to notice that there was something different about his mistress. In a moment of desperate loneliness, our Villainess confessed that she was in fact a different person, and that she was not from this world. He had a hard time believing her, but couldn't really do much about it. She made a deal with him, he would keep her secret and give her pointers about living in this world, in exchange, she'd take care of his sick sister and allow him to join in on her lessons.

Throughout time the Servant becomes an important confidante to the Villainess, and he also gains a more open and snarky personality. Hence being off-script. 

From this, the Heroine came to the conclusion that the Villainess has the power to make characters “self-actualize” by diverging from the script.)

The Heroine was ecstatic to find someone real. Someone who understood meme references, who had seen anime, who had experienced the internet, who knew pop music, ate Chinese food, took the subway. She latched onto the Villainess immediately and promised she’d never let the Villainess meet her original fate. They immediately bonded. (Even tho the Villainess is a bit put-off by the Heroine’s intensity.) 

The Heroine was there to shield the Villainess from every misunderstanding, and made sure everyone was able to see her friend for the good person she is.

The Heroine wants to change the world. She is not satisfied with getting the Happy Ending of the game. She is not satisfied with running an orphanage with the Villainess and occasional charity work. What about after they pass away? Will the next nobles be just as benevolent? No, there has to be systematic changes. They need to provide the masses with education. They need to reduce class difference and bring about the age of enlightenment.

(Because if she died, if she couldn’t prove her life’s worth to her parents, then at least she could make some real difference in this world. If she changed the world, maybe then her death would have meaning.)

And to do that, she needs to marry the Prince.

So, basically, you have a Heroine who is fixated on doing good, and a Villainess who is fixated on being good.

The Heroine asks the Villainess to not interfere with the Prince’s route. She’s going to follow that route and make him marry her. The Villainess just have to cancel their engagement amicably and she’d be able to avoid her canon fate. 

The Villainess was not fully on-board with the Heroine’s ambitions. She think the Heroine’s being reckless. Why can’t they just do the good that’s in front of them? But she’s a rather detached person, and doesn’t try to sway others from their opinions. So she agreed to cancel her engagement, and the Prince does fall for the Heroine, and marries her.

The thing the Heroine doesn’t realize is, the characters has always been sentient… She’s just too blinded by her grief for her previous life to see it. The Prince had genuinely fallen in love with this woman, who was kind and intelligent and a little mysterious. And this fascinating woman seem to only ever have eyes for him and the Villainess. Which makes him feel special, but also a little jealous. He used a magical charm to spy on them. That’s how he found out that his wife has some very dangerous political ambitions.

The Prince’s whole characterization is that he grew up surrounded by people who were trying to use him. In the game, the Heroine ends up winning his heart by genuinely caring about him as a person. To hear that the Heroine doesn’t even see him as being sentient, and only wants to use him for power, and had essentially manipulated him… It really broke him. Plus, her political ambitions will literally destroy the power of the monarchy, everything he stands for and must preserve. Further investigation yields that she’s meddling with magic.

He has no choice but to lock her up. 

The Prince could not imprison the Villainess without proof of treason, since the Villainess’s family has a lot of political sways. She had also been a good friend since childhood, and she wasn’t the one to break his heart. So he didn’t go after her.

The Villainess had lived her life somewhat detached, and kept people at arm’s length. But now she had come to realize that, in the Heroine’s pursuit of her ambition, she was heading towards the fate of the OG!Villaness of the game. She realized that this was the first time she’s ever had a friend who was willing to fight for her, to protect her against slander, when she never had a friend like that in her past life. And she couldn’t let the Heroine die, or remain locked up forever. She has to rescue her friend.

Anyway… The Heroine’s journey is to learn to let go of her past and truly live this life, to value and enjoy it beyond achieving accomplishments, to see the NPCs as people. The Villainess’s journey is also to truly live this life, but in the sense of actually valuing it and the people in it, and to fight for what’s important for her. 

The Prince’s journey will be to unlearn the divine right of king (lol) but also to gain confidence and self-respect and know that he doesn’t need a hot girl to be in love with him (no, well, sorta).

And they still get to change the world together!! Somehow! There should be at least 2 more OG love interests that I never thought about. Also... will there be actual romance here? Will the poor Prince ever find true love? All very good questions I don't haven answers to yet.

Since reading Riddles’ Villainess story I’ve been wondering, happens to the original heroine and her uprising? Since the reader is now Riddles’ true love and not her, does it end up affecting the coup d'état somehow? I figured it might if the heroines’ plan was the classic “seduce then overthrow” type. But I’m really curious to see how you would have it go down!

Original story The heroine and Riddle were to officially meet during his birthday after the imprisonment of original!villain/ess, and when they had their first dance Riddle was attracted to the gentleness of the heroine and requested her to visit the palace as replacement of his betrothed. The two were infatuated with each other but because of Riddle’s twisted interpretation of love, he treated the heroine the way his mother did, controlling her and expecting her to uphold perfection like he did. The heroine, realizing that the man she loved was not as she seemed and watching the atrocities he committed in the name of perfection, convinced her knights and even Riddle’s aides to start a rebellion, crying as she killed the man she thought loved her truly and became the new ruler. 

Current story Riddle worked to prove to his mother and his people that he was capable of ruling the land, gaining achievement after achievement which impressed the heroine who became an admirer in the background who started to fantasize herself with Riddle as lovers. Her admiration turned to envy when Riddle brought you back and announced your union, convincing herself that it was unfair how a fallen noble earned his love, believing that she was more worthy of Riddle since she had devoted herself to him for so long. She’s furious that the fantasies of how gentle and loving Riddle would be to his lover turn out to be true, but she wasn’t the recipient like she dreamed. She despises you for living the life she always wanted. 

Riddle Rosehearts was the epitome of a perfect man - boyish good looks, money, status, and dignity. In a field of plain daisies, Riddle was a sole rose bloomed to perfection. 

Her status and her family’s connection was not good enough for a personal audience with the royal family but still, she dreams of a moment where she could meet with the desirable man. She fantasized that perhaps like destined lovers, the two of them could share a moment akin to a fairy tale. The heroine held hope that she could have her happily ever after with the amazing prince, swooning over the idea of being cherished by such a perfect man. 

She then heard news of his successful throne accession, she rejoiced with the people that the impressive heir, at such a young age, won over the former queen renowned for her extremely high standards.

Haha, thank you! I'm glad you like my blog. I actually did see this one on r/maleyandere (were you the same person who posted there? If not, it's quite a coincidence). It's an isekai story (and I can hear Cherry writhing in the background from another villainess story). It is pretty short so far since it's only three chapters, but the last chapter really dove headfirst into that yandere territory.

The story starts out with Lourie who isekaied into a novel she read. While she was enjoying her rich life, she is suddenly engaged to Calix, the novel's male lead. Upon hearing this she realizes her fate of being cast aside in favor of the female lead (which is... such a horrible thing to do, who throws away someone like that so easily), getting jealous and committing crimes that lead to her death. Upon realization, she attempts to push Calix away. However because he's very charming and very in love with Lourie, the two end up falling in love and basically repeating what happens in the novel. At least until a month before the appearance of the female lead. Upon realization she starts to push away Calix and his gifts, until she goes out to see him in the rain where he's been waiting. Calix is worried about Lourie believing that he did something wrong and tries to push their wedding from two weeks to one week, however, because Lourie is still worried about the future, attempts to call it off. Surprisingly, Calix pulls her in believing that the crowned prince seduced her even calling their marriage "fate". Calix ends up drugging Lourie, even revealing that his kind facade was something he created specificially for her and that he manipulated her by pretending to act vulnerable. He claims that she will be his, no matter what.

It’s kind of interesting in this version that Lourie actually goes through with following the novel’s plot (although unintentional) and doesn’t go through anything that makes it so that she can stop her death. Most of the times the character has to undergo a giant plan to get them to not die, but not in this case. Still I do find it off that Lourie never tells Calix why she wants to break off the engagement anyways considering the two are so close. Even if she didn’t want to reveal that she was actually isekaied into a novel, she could have at least told Calix in a round about way about the female lead that’s coming in, rather than just be unreasonable and cut off the engagement for no reason. I suppose it doesn’t really matter in the end since Calix would have never let go of Lourie in the first place.

Calix as a yandere is very cunning. I’m not sure if this situation was a love at first sight thing or if it might be a generational thing (as in his parents might have traits of a yandere) but he seems obsessed with Lourie from the start. Not only does he modify his personality to fit something that Lourie likes but he also purposefully shows himself in vulnerable situations (such as being wounded or standing in the rain) to gain her sympathy. The way that Calix talks about Lourie is in a way that entraps her claims her as his own, with a lot of symbols of chains and thorns. He also was extremely jealous of the crowned prince and of course ended up drugging Lourie at the end of the latest chapter. It definitely screams of yandere and it’s only been three chapters!

But yeah, I do think Calix is one. The story itself seems to escalate really quickly, so I’m curious to see how the rest of the story plays out.

Coincidentally I read Eckles/og!Penny fic yesterday and I remembered something that bugged the hell out of me when I read the novel. the rebellion built by Eckles and the other slaves were painted as evil doing while the empire who enslaved them is seen heroic. How Penny treated Eckles and slavery was already annoying me but the whole rebellion part took the cake. I'm not saying she could have freed him btw as she stated she didn't have the power to do so but she could have treated him better instead of something like an object. She still considered it a game then but still it's icky. If she was trying to build a romantic relationship to get the ending, shouldn't she treat Eckles like other humans in the game instead of an object? Though I admit I became a sociopath on Sims when it comes to how I act towards them.

Him turning into antagonist is both good and bad. Good because I didn’t expect it. Bad because the reason I mentioned above. He has the right reasons but is seen bad

Honestly, I hate the whole incorporating the whole slavery concept into the story. It’s executed badly most of the time. Same thing happened with Eckless and rebellion.

Maybe a baron in debt gave Eckless as collateral or like Theon was a ward of Stark House in game of thrones. They would be better than making Eckless a slave. Both of them would have been better than slave route and they rebel for their freedom. In the case I mentioned, the rebellion would be just civil war. Or change of management

Dress style

It’s been a while since I read that part but from what I recall, Penny wearing plain clothes was praised a lot and OG!Penny is an idiot/worthless for wearing flashy outfits. Even Siyeon thought so too. At least that’s the vibe I got. Wearing summer clothes outside when it’s 0C makes you an idiot. Wearing flashy outfits doesn’t do that. It’s just the way og!Penny expressed herself

I think I read this in a few other manhwas as well. Usually the reincarnator don’t change the clothing style, or at least the ones I read. That is why Penelope’s case stuck in my mind. I think it’s because I’m also someone who likes flashy outfits, jewelry and makeup

Treatment of OG!Penny

I do like grim stories and thrillers. I liked Siyeon’s view on the story progress as she was pragmatic and selfish.

The side stories made me think that the duchy is forgiven. You may say interacting with them doesn’t mean it’s forgiven but it didn’t feel that way to me. That feels like a stab in the back for og!Penny who endured all the physical and psychological abuse.

She was only 12 when she was taken to the duchy. Her mother just passed away and she stayed with her dead mother until duke took her in as a replacement for his lost daughter. He didn’t think her as a new child that’s adopted. He thought of her as someone who looks similar to the daughter he lost. Later on Penny was subjected to abuse by the brothers and duke turned a blind eye. Seeing that the ducal family not giving a damn about Penelope, servants took advantage of it. I can’t imagine what she must have felt entire time. Imagine someone taking you in after losing the only family you have. You think that you finally found home. The man promises to treat you as a daughter but then you face the music. It was all a lie

Also the story felt like Penny is bad for being flashy, temperamental and emotional while Siyeon is good for wearing plain clothes, cold and mission focused. Like “Penelope was treated bad because she caused problems. If she didn’t do it and took it all in silence, she’d be treated better” It feels like betrayal to Penelope who was psychologically and physically abused in the household. Even small things like Derrick’s comment on Penelope and Siyeon’s clothing choice was annoying for me. What’s wrong with wearing flashy outfit? Penny liked that style. Wearing plain clothing doesn’t make one mature, level-headed or better person

The maid, Emily, was needling her to wake her up but she didn’t receive any punishment. She along with the kitchen staff were forcefully feeding Penny rotten food. You can say that Siyeon used her as a weapon but she didn’t get sentenced for abuse. She walked freely

Duke didn’t care when his sons called her names, accused her for doing things she didn’t do and berate her. You can’t say that he was just being distant OI dad and didn’t know about it. If he doesn’t know what’s going on inside his house, if he can’t even manage a house then how is he a duke who takes care of large territory?

Derrick is another thing on his own. At least he wasn’t forgiven

Reynolds was same as Derrick. Maybe only a notch down but he gets a pass 😑

Honestly, entire duchy can go to hell. They all deserve punishment. Siyeon’s treatment towards them feels like a stab in the back for og!Penny
